Now Russia got colours too~

I like his layered coat, I was thinking that it would be funny if actually he had third layer hidden under this two layers and it would be shorter and thin like the top layer. Well, probably it’s pretty easy to tell that I like hidden details that are there and maybe they are even pretty cool, but probably no one ever will see them.

I didn’t took any specific jellyfishes for this, but I have pretty strong ascension between Russia and aurelia jellyfishes so I took them as some sort of reference/inspiration to be honest.

And I don’t have any alternative colours this time and also screenshots still eat quality, so I want to show little close up

anime resale stores here always have absolute mountains of love live figures from every iteration of the franchise with every character and costume you could imagine...except i've never been a figure girlie so i always just look over the shelf in awe because i can't really see myself buying anything. except, that is, for the early love live sunshine aqours figures with no legs. that, i would buy

sometimes researching for avatar redesigns has you 6 layers deep into the Japan's Meiji era allies wiki

#im trying to mess with some of the stuff that feels weird about the ways the fire nation is depicted idk #like i do not feel optically it is good for like them to be so heavily based on japan's imperialist actions #while dressed in clothes that come from places japan colonized #but i dont want it to just be solely japanese though i did draw zuko and azula in hakama but its largely cause i wanted to draw hakama #and like the only place with strong japanese influence being kiyoshi island and my own frustration with the modern day samurai depiction #i think fundamentally it isnt a choice that had as much thought as i am putting in put into it but it does raise an eyebrow for me #anyway i think keeping the thai influence is fine despite the brief invasion japan had into thailand due to thailand then allying with japa #and further allying with the axis due to allying with japan #ugh and ive been told not to think this much about it because its fiction but its also fiction so so so heavily based on real places #and when you base fiction on real cultures you fall into some unintentional pitfalls #i also fucking hate the royal fire nation robes they look so meh and the most costumey out of everything in the show #they look like heavy blankets despite being a supposedly hot nation #theres ways to have heavy robes (heian era japan) but they look like i make them out of fleece and velvet blankets #back to kiyoshi island i think the really only aesthetically japanese reference in the show being an island of noble warriors is lame #plus over done #it feels like nowadays theres a lot of people who get all whiney about people saying fire nation is based off japan #but like dude the creators in the comics and korra like go even more into the japanese influence and clearly it was the original intentions #also i do think you could do some pretty interesting world building by having say there be an older cultural influence on kiyoshi island #from the fire nation especially if the place is established as a central port area then you tie in some okinawan or even hawaiian reference #and gives an explanation that makes sense to why kiyoshi stands out from the rest of the earth kingdom you have long term cultural trading #and it establishes interesting relationships even pre kiyoshi time thereby drawing back onto some real historic references #cause for awhile ryukyu china and japan used to be this trading triangle which could explain some of these various influences going on #i think you can get a really interesting harmony when you create the fire nation out of a mix of japan and thailand #i mean both have these floating buildings due to living on some pretty wet lands and theres harmony in that mix #god i did see one person go like “fire nation is more based on china because theres a lot of red and red is important in china”#my brother in christ red is also important in japan #red is important in like many many asian cultures #i mean of course a lot of that importance stems from china and cultural exchange with china but idk kinda silly to say with your whole ches #like if you want to bring china in then the dragons are the biggest thing like sure some mythos has dragons in japan #but a lot of those comes from china in some way

i have deep desire to write for demon slayer (and by write for it im specifically talking about zenitsu currently.) but the story is so deeply impacted by it's setting that its gonna take at least two weeks of research to do it any justice so the plans r Delayed

#aristotle.txt #writing for my hero = easy because im insane and know every inch of it #writing for anything else = impossible #i figured trying to find fic for it was going to feel like this in the first place #from my limited understanding the story takes place in the events directly after japans first industrial revolution #which means that the advent of technology is not only integral to the story telling but there's also like an unreal #amount of sociopolitical context for most of the major details #writing for my hero is easy because a society post tech is very easy to imagine. we live in it lol #demon slayer in particular takes place during the emergence of industry #what makes zenitsu an interesting character to me is that his narration is influenced directly by his class and proximity to modernity #he has a specific level of cynicism i can only describe as post industrial. whether that be his sense of cowardice over tanjiro/inosuke #or his attitude towards women. the way he behaves and how he critically analyzes certain kinds of behavior #like im currently watching the entertainment district arc and i think inosukes reaction vs zenitsus pretty much exactly covers it #where inosuke is overstimulated and tanjiro is reserved - zenitsu recognizes the district for what it is. that quality makes him stand out #a lot among them at least to me. i love hearing him talk sooo much lmfao.#anyways. all that to say. i want to write zenitsu but i need to do more reading to make it any good so . pray for me i suppose #zenitsu the embodiment of men used to chop trees and go to war fr

spoilers for kiryu's side story (chapter 10)

i don't think these are in order, but i don't really care either, that's not the point i'm trying to make here

if i could be so bold, not a single one of these lines is intelligible out of context. i went into this with my mood soured already because where the FUCK is nagumo i barely remember these guys at all, but as soon as they started talking it was just... huh??? did the people who wrote the english for these lines read any of it out loud before they put it into the game?

there's a lot more than just this example too. i completely understand that the circumstances around cranking out simulreleases might not be great for producing a good localisation, but at this point it hardly feels like an excuse anymore.

an NPC dropping "fucktard" in an optional gaiden substory and the "talking fruits" joke in a MANDATORY substory in infinite wealth are inexcusable in a published seventy dollar video game in 2024.

oh yeah okay so! kamina from gurren lagaan is very much a product of his time (yknow, back when the world as a whole was way more misogynistic and men loved objectifying women and are openly homophobic in their attempt at being manly, in the early 2000s). While i loved what his character stood for at the best of times (good at building morale in the team, generally having good morals aside from the whole objectifying yoko thing), my gf remembers him at his very worst :')

I almost feel like kaito is a slightly better kamina JSHFJKDKFJJ and a lot of his character traits and even the fact he came out of a mecha exisal are also directly referencing kamina. so ofc my gf hated this while watching drv3 playthroughs it was actually so funny to see her being so grated by him at times. she straight up told me "i find this guy annoying and i dont know why" before i told her he's a kamina reference and she was like OHHH NO WONDER

so anyway, this is a long roundabout way to say that i get why i see kaito slander around sometimes LMAO but i believe i can fix him
