So does anyone know what the symbols floating around are in Ayakashi Bakeneko when Kusu get's knocked into Tamaki's memories? For a long while I kind of just assumed it was stylized kanji, and in fairness it could still be but I'm not picking out anything recognizable from it if so, but if it's not it would be interesting to know what it IS? My second guess would be some kind of sanskrit but I don't think that's right either?

And of course it could just be shit that looks cool and arcane but isn't meant to have any particular meaning, but with this show you can never just assume that, yanno?

@purplealmonds Yeah, the style does seem odd, it's like I'll find a few characters on this sheet that almost seem to correlate with what's in the scene but not quite (or I'll recognize a radical from one of the characters but not be able to match up the rest of it...I'm assuming radicals work about the same between standard characters and seal script, but that's an assumption based on a couple skim-throughs so who knows)

Out of curiosity, was your mom able to put a meaning to the characters she recognized or is it more of a "yes, I look at that and see seal script"

I also saw that there are like five or six other kanji-adjacent scripts outside of the standardized characters, so maybe if seal script is a weird fit, one of the other ones might work better?

So I've been working through this book for like three/four months by now right?

I just figured out today that the Shu (執) on the cover of the book doesn't mean "novel" (I'm not sure why I did, maybe because it's close to Sho which is an abbreviation for novel? anyway)
