I don't think Iris and Phoenix would get into a romantic relationship with each other but I do think they are still very fond of each other, in that weird way only people who are exes can. Like, "you meant the world to me once, and a part of me will always love you, but we are not the same we were back then, and maybe even back then we would've been better off as friends," do you know what I mean? They just care deeply about each other. Genuinely believe Iris would want to have Nick as her best man at her wedding, and he would cry of joy because she gets to be happy. He would be there with Miles the day she is released from prison, and they would help her get a job and a home (the world doesn't treat ex-convicts kindly). And Phoenix would be like, "By the way, we are a couple now!" and Iris would be like "Finally! I'm so glad for you two!" and she would mean it. Because she saw right through them all those years ago, and she knew they were gay as fuck for each other. And Trucy probably calls her Aunt and everything.
