Rooster has a stuffed goose.
Hangman shouldn’t be surprised.
That was what Hangman thought when he saw the said stuffed animal inside the older man closet, it was just sitting in the corner and looking right back at him.
The goose was as big as the real one, rounded chubby body and just by its looking, he knew it would be so soft at touch.
And that was what he did, slowly, Hangman reached for the stuffed goose. Then he hugged with all his will. Because, the thing was so squishy and huggable, it was like he was hugging a cloud. It is bigger than he initially thought, almost half of his body, jesus christ the damn thing is so fucking cute.
However, he noticed there was a light layer of dust on it as he let out a small sneeze after he hugged the fluffed animal, Hangman supposed this is due to the fact that this goose had not seen the outside world for a while. He decided to do the best thing that popped into his head at that time. Hangman wash it, by hand.
(Because he learned the hard way that these things are very delicate, and are not for washing machine)
Then he brought the now clean but soaked goose to the back yard to dry it, but he couldn’t find any clippers (they should put those on the list for the next grocery run, those clippers have their own legs, he swears). Hangman then tided the goose legs together on the drying string and stepped back to admired his work and laughed at the sight a bit.
Later, when Rooster came home, Hangman asked him to go to the back yard to take the laundry in, much to his confusion because it was not laundry day?
Rooster faced a familiar sight of a white stuffed goose being hanged upside down basking in the California summer sun in Rooster childhood home back yard. For a moment, he thought he was still a tiny kid watching his mom tying the goose up on the drying line.
After retrieved the goose, he walked back into the house and saw Hangman lounging on the sofa with the man cocky smile. Rooster took the goose wings with his hand and wrapped it around his boyfriend, as he fell in love with that man a little bit more.
(Ice: what if the kid don’t like me?? Kids have always scared of me?? MAV?!
Mav: it’s because your permanent frowning face, dumbass. As much as I love it, kids rarely. But don’t worry so much, baby goose will love you nonetheless. That kid is a fucking angel.
Ice: but-
Mav: or you can buy him a first meeting gift? A hug ass stuffed goose?
Ice: YES, THANK YOU MY FUCKING LOVE!)

Listen just hear me out
I love the idea of Rooster and Hangman being exes and then getting back together but the idea of them being exes and then being friends after the mission is fucking hilarious
Just them embarrassing each other because now they can talk about it and it’s not as tense as it was, casually mentioning shit they did when they were together
Bob: who the hell was snoring so loud last night?
Jake, without looking up from his phone: Rooster
All of them, staring at Jake:
Jake: what?
Jake, pointing at Rooster: you snore like a bitch, I kinda thought you were dying the first time I stayed at your place
Jake: I’m wild man, I’m an animal in bed
Bradley: shut the fuck up you like holding hands in bed
PLEASE ITS SO PERFECT

🤠🐓🏍️☃️The Rooster☃️🏍️🐓🤠
Tumblr media
(Based on this article, picture included!)
Post-Mission.
Icepops gifts Baby Goose a two-seater plane, just like he did for Mav.
"Good to have you back, kiddo."
*
After THE talk, Bradley shyly asks Mav to help him repair the old bag of ass, and it's going to be their dad & son project, their bonding therapy.
Then, Bradley and Ice handle the artistic customisation of the plane. It at some point evolves into a paint war in Mav's hangar.
(Dadmiral COMPACFLT is ruthless.)
"WHO THE HELL PUT PAINT ON MY KAWASAKI?!"
*
When The Rooster is finally done, Bradley is in the pilot seat, waiting to see who's going to be his RIO/WSO. He has to plug his ears, because his dad and pop's bickering ends up being about who's going to offer the best sexual favour in exchange of being the first to fly with Bradley.
"Ugh. Why me?!" he complained fondly, bonking his head repeatedly on the window pane.
*
The third person privileged enough to be Bradley's backseater, is Hangman.
As a 'thank you for saving our lives, I knew I was right to make you the Spare', he was invited at the Hangar to go nerding with Mav about the P-51.
Supposedly.
What happens is Bradley going all smoothly with -
"Fancy riding the Rooster?"
*
Also Jake gets to see THE pictures on the hangar walls, including baby pictures of Bradley, and 'holy shit, is that...'
"Sir?!"

summary: family can be a lot, especially around the holidays, and it's okay to take a break when it gets too much... sometimes you just need quiet, and that's okay.
Tumblr media
“Okay, so what do I need to know about your family?” Jake asked Sarah as they got ready.
She laughed as she curled her hair, “Well, first thing is, you never bring up the Longhorns. That alone is a death sentence.” Jake chuckled and nodded as he looked through his clothes for a shirt, “Noted. Anything else?”
Sarah sighed a little, “The house is gonna get pretty cramped. So it can get hot in the house, and it won’t take long for it to get loud. I know you come from a big family too, probably bigger since both sides are big, but you usually have it in a bigger house than this. And we might have about 20-40 people in this house, so it might get crowded.”
Jake nodded, “Got it.” He came over and kissed her head, “I’m really excited to meet them. And apologize for not being at Thanksgiving.” She hummed softly and turned to peck his lips, “You had to go back to base, they’ll understand.”
He smiled and pecked her lips again and again before moving to go take a shower while Sarah got dressed.
Tumblr media
A few hours later, Jake was pulling into Sarah’s aunt’s driveway and parking next to her sister’s truck.
“Alright, hopefully they like me,” Jake chuckled, squeezing Sarah’s hand. She smiled at him, “I don’t think you have anything to worry about, Cowboy.”
He pecked her lips before getting out and racing around the truck to get to her side before she could open her door.
“Such a gentleman,” she giggled as he helped her out of his truck. “Anything for you, Sugar,” he said with a wide smile before kissing her forehead. She kissed his cheek and they both grabbed the things they brought before heading inside.
Sarah walked in first, thanking Jake as he held open the glass door for her.
She turned and waited for him to join her before announcing their arrival.
“Oh, well look who’s here! And she brought a friend.”
Sarah laughed, “Hi Aunt San.” She gave her aunt a hug before turning to Jake, “This is Jake, he’s my boyfriend.” Her aunt’s eyes widened a little, “This is your pilot?” Sarah nodded and felt Jake come up behind her. “Jake, this is my Aunt San.” He smiled and gave her a hug, “It’s nice to finally meet you.” His eyes scanned the house, “And it seems I have plenty of people to meet.”
Aunt San nodded, “You sure do, but I’m first so that’s what’s important.”
Sarah rolled her eyes and laughed, “Oh um, Jake has the food, will you show him to the kitchen while I put the gifts up?” “Oh of course, follow me Jake.”
Jake nodded and followed Sarah’s aunt to the kitchen as she went to the living room.
As she walked into the room she smiled and greeted everyone, talking as she put the presents in the respective bins.
She glanced around, finding very little room to sit and feeling that pressure building in her chest already. Seriously Sarah, you just got here, she thought to herself as the voices started to muddle together.
Sending a smile to everyone, she left to go find Jake so she could do the rounds of hellos and introduce him to her family before they started to eat.
Tumblr media
It didn’t take long after their arrival for dinner to start. After that they played bingo until all the gifts were gone and then they brought out other games while eating the rest of the finger foods that were left.
Jake and Sarah sat at the table, Jake playing spoons with Sarah’s uncles, her sister, Elizabeth, and a few of her cousins. Sarah was just sitting there next to him, resting against him and watching the game and drinking ice water.
At first he thought nothing of it, thinking that she was only talking when she addressed to not mess up his game and distract him. But she was unusually flushed, fanning herself a few times and pulling her hair off her neck into a bun. She was taking deep calculated breaths, he could feel her chest moving against his arm.
But when she sat up and started to shake out her hands, popping her knuckles and flexing her fingers, he knew something was off.
“Sugar… are you alright?” Jake asked her quietly as Elizabeth was shuffling the cards and setting the spoons back up. “Mhm,” she nodded, not looking up from where she was picking at her nails. “You sure?” “Yeah, I’m fine.”
She was mumbling, and if Jake knew anything it was that if Sarah mumbled… she wasn’t fine.
He went to say something else but was dealt a hand and the next game started.
This round he’s distracted. Glancing between his cards and her the whole time, picking up on her rhythmically tapping her fingers on her thumbs – index to pinky then pinky to index. She was inhaling through her nose and out through her mouth as her eyes stayed on the table.
Before he can say anything, the sounds of flat palms smacking the kitchen table and then a few loud shouts and laughs from those that managed to get a spoon.
Jake’s attention is pulled to that, realizing that he missed getting a spoon. But he didn’t really care, something was up with his girlfriend and she wasn’t telling him.
“Dang… that’s alright, I was getting tired of winning anyway,” Jake commented, toothpick moving to the side of his mouth as he chuckled and tossed his cards down. The table laughed and set up another round.
As they did this, Jake turned to Sarah to talk to her but found her getting up and walking towards the front door, attempting to discreetly wipe her eyes but Jake noticed it.
Confused, Jake turned to Elizabeth, “Hey, do you know what’s wrong? I asked but she said she was fine…” She sighed, “I think she’s just a little overwhelmed, it happens.” Jake nodded, humming to himself and he looked over to the door, thinking of how he could help.
Tumblr media
Sarah sat down on the porch swing, trying to delicately wipe her tears so she didn’t smudge her makeup.
“Damn it…” She swore under her breath, shaking her hands out and trying to calm down.
She hated that this happened more often than she would like to admit. She loved being with her family, but sometimes it was just too much.
With everyone having to be close and everyone talking, it got hot quickly and it got loud.
Now she could handle loud, she was a coach – loud things weren’t uncommon. But it was loud conversations. Her brain was trying to listen to everyone and it all just muddled in her mind and it affected everything else.
Sometimes the lights would be too bright or the different scents of food mingling made her brain foggy, that mixed with the heat and the volume of the room – it was too much stimulation at once.
So she always just went outside, letting Arkansas’s freezing December weather bite the heat off her skin. It wasn’t loud outside either, just the muffled sounds of people talking inside and the cars on the highway in front of the house.
She sat there for a few minutes, her eyes closed and she tried to take even breaths and keep the tears in their ducts.
But then she heard the door open and looked over to see Jake come out, holding his Carhartt coat in his hand.
“Hey,” he greeted gently, coming over to her on the bench. “What’s wrong?” Sarah shook her head as she moved on the bench to give him room. “It’s nothi-”
“Sarah, I know you. What’s wrong?”
She sighed and let her head fall into her hands as Jake sat next to her. He rubbed her back, waiting patiently for her to talk.
“It’s too much. It’s really loud and really hot and there’s a lot of smells, the lights are too damn bright… I just…” She sighed, tears slipping down her face as she leaned on Jake’s shoulder as she talked.
“I just need quiet…”
Jake nodded, resting his cheek on her head, “I understand. I can go back–” “No, please stay…” He nodded again and put an arm around her back and on the arm rest. Using his other hand, he pulled Sarah’s legs into his lap.
He held up his jacket, inside facing the both of them. “Put your arm in the sleeve,” he told her, nodding to the sleeve hole closest to her. “What, w-” “Trust me, just do it,” he said with a playful grin.
Sarah sighed and slid her arm in the sleeve, looking at Jake to see him doing the same thing.
Jake then gently pushed her head into his shoulder and kissed her forehead.
“Jake… Darlin’, what are you doing?”
“You need quiet, so we’re gonna have quiet… now shhh and just snuggle.”
She couldn’t help but giggle as she inhaled the faint scent of hay, leather, bergamot, and whiskey that seemed infused with the fibers of the jacket. The scent that always seemed to calm her down.
“Thank you, Jake…”
“I love you, Sugar.”
“I love you too, Cowboy.”

I have another Bradley x reader request. Could you please write something where the reader brings their newborn to see him at work bc they are sick of maternity leave and miss the action (how they got the clearance idk lol) and Bradley just shows the baby off to his team? And then maybe if you aren’t sick of me yet another one where the babe is a little bit older and Bradley shows them the inside of a plane? I’m living for your content.
So its not exactly your request, but it did inspire me a lot, so its very similar to your request, if you want me to make another one that's more to a T your request, lmk! Also, this is going to take place a few years after the mission. Enjoy! <3
Warnings: I haven't editted it yet! LOL

Maybe Being Suspended Isn't That Bad
Tumblr media
The sight of the once black coffee now turning to a lighter brown as the cream mixed with a swirl of the wooden stick I held in the cup on the counter before me could only bring a small, yet content, smile to my face. Even with it being 9:00am, it was a well deserved coffee. I tapped the small wooden stick on the side of my mug before throwing it in the trash, careful not to spill any of the hot liquid onto my flight suit as I took a sip.
"Captain Bradshaw." I heard a voice muse, as I turned to the door, mug in hand. "As I live and breathe." Hangman winked, being pushed into the room from his spot in the door frame, Phoenix following in behind him.
"Captain Seresin." I teased, laughing before taking another sip, moving out of his way and to the break room's couch, allowing for him and Natasha to get their own coffee. "Where's Bob this morning? I thought he was gonna give a seminar to the new WSO's." I asked, as my back met with the cushion of the couch.
Natasha shrugged at me, but Jake actually responded. "He got sick this morning. Threw up right after waking up." He spoke casually, as he mixed sugar and cream into his coffee. This caused both Natasha and I to turn to him, both of our eyes wide as we offered shocked smiles at the blond.
"What?" He asked, raising his eyebrow and looking between the two of us before walking out of the room with his coffee.
"I take it Carole didn't want to go to school today?" Phoenix smiled, taking a sip of her coffee as she sat on the couch before me.
"No, but when does she ever? I left my phone at home too just getting her in the car is a struggle." I laughed, before Phoenix and I were snapped out of our conversation by a Lieutenant bursting through the door. They were out of breath, hunched over as they gathered themselves.
We both stood up, concerned. "What is it?" I asked, placing my coffee mug on the table. "Lieutenant Evers, what is it?" I asked, as the younger male looked up at me.
"Captain Bradshaw," he panted, before continuing, "Admiral Simpson needs you in his office," the lieutenant managed before needing another breath, "With Rooster as well. ASAP." He let out, sitting on the chair that Phoenix pulled out for him, offering him a water bottle.
"What did you sprint here?" Natasha asked Evers, concern lacing her voice before she turned to me. "Bradley's landing now. I'll cover your class. You're going over the Uranium plant mission, right?" She addressed, nodding her head towards the windows, as I saw Rooster's plane landing.
Distracted as I looked out the window I responded to her. "Yeah. I want them to try a similar, modified version of the course." I trailed off as my brows furrowed as another Lieutenant explained to Bradley, who had just hopped out of his plane, that we had been summoned to the Admiral's office.
It couldn't've been but five minutes later that we were both sitting in the Admiral's office. "Captain Bradshaws." Simpson nodded, his hands folded on his desk as Bradley and I looked to each other, soft smiles before returning back to Cyclone with confusion. "Why can't either of you answer your personal cell phones?" He sighed, only adding to Rooster and I's confusion.
"Sorry, Sir. Bradley was flying and I left mine at home." I explained, my brows furrowed as I looked to Cyclone. "Why?" I pondered, still remaining respectful to the Admiral.
"Your daughter's school called. She's been suspended. They want both of you to attend a meeting with the Principal and pick up your kid. They didn't say anything else. You've been approved for leave." The Admiral spoke, placing his glasses on his face before going to read paper. "You're dismissed." He nodded to the both of us.
We could only look at each other out of confusion before heading out to my husband's blue bronco. Neither of us bothered to change out of our flight suits, but we did put our aviator sunglasses on for the drive. "What the hell did she do?" I spoke, crossing my arms as we pulled up to the school.
"I don't know. What do five year olds get suspended for anyway? Stealing a juice box?" Bradley asked, looking at me seriously. I burst out laughing as he whined, lightly hitting me on the shoulder. "I'm being serious!" He insisted as we exited the car.
The metal doors of the school opened with a creak as Bradley and I walked in. The main office was the first on the right, and I followed Bradley in. "Hey kiddo." He smiled, speaking softly at our daughter before going to sit next to her. She looked fine, and I silently thanked the heavens for that. She smiled up at her dad, hugging him as he sat in the chair next to her.
I walked up to the desk lady, who looked at us confused, and I could understand. Two people walking in with flight suits on had to be confusing, especially for someone who probably doesn't even know what a flight suit is. "Hi. We're the parents of Carole Bradshaw. We were called about her suspension?" I asked, before snapping my attention towards the Principal's office door, watching an angry silouette in the door.
"You can't let whatever monster did this to my sweet Billy get away with just a suspension! I demand to meet with their parents!" I heard a woman's voice, and I turned to look at my kid. It wasn't an angry look more of a 'what the hell did you do?' look. She smiled sheepishly up at me, as her dad looked at her with a face of shock and concern, but his was less serious as he towered over the girl, leaning forward to actually be over her before smiling at her and winking.
"Is that them? Are they here-" An angry man's voice this time spoke, bursting out of the Principals door to see me and Bradley, in full flight suits- as Bradley wrapped an arm around Carole protectively.
The man was in a full suit and tie, he looked as if the only thing he was missing was a brief case. His angry eyes glared at Bradley, and Rooster's own gaze harshened, as if he was dealing with Maverick when those two weren't on good terms. Carole looked up at her dad concerned, and then turned to me when her dad didn't look down at her. I smiled as I met her gaze, kneeling down and opening my arms as she ran over to me, leaving her dad's lap.
The room was tense, and I picked up my daughter, holding her on my hip as she rested on my arm and hip. Bradley stood up shortly after Carole left him, holding his head high as he refused to break eye contact with the other man. "Billy wait outside. The adults need to have a discussion." The unknown man spoke, as the principal rushed out. I truly felt bad for him, he was a smaller man, glasses on his face as his age showed through his balding head.
"Let's all just calm down." He spoke, smiling weakly in attempts to defuse the situation as he stood between the two men.
I smiled in pity at the short man, before setting Carole down next to me, holding her hand as he hugged into my leg. "Bradley." I spoke, as my husband whipped his head to look at me, his gaze softening. "Calm down." I smiled, calmly. Rooster nodded at me, taking a breath before turning to the principal, now ignoring the man in the suit.
"Thank you, Mrs. Bradshaw." The man smiled at me, as if I had just paid off his student loans. "Now please, can we all sit down. Children too." He spoke, nodding to Carole and the other little boy, who I suppose was named Billy.
The unknown man huffed before walking back into the office from which he had formerly burst out of, his child following behind him. The principal then offered a soft smile, as if to apologize, to Bradley has he held the door open.
Rooster gave the man a nod, and Carole and I could only follow as the Principal closed the door behind us. There were four chairs in front of the large wooden desk, the man from before and his wife sat in the two farthest from the door, their son standing on the other side of his parents.
The principal brushed past us and sat on his desk, and Bradley motioned for me and Carole to sit, opting to stand. I married an absolute gentleman. The man who I had to sit next to huffed, rolling his eyes as he crossed his arms at Bradley's action.
Rooster payed him no mind, now stand behind me with his hands on the back of my chair, as I wrapped my arm around Carole, who leaned her head against me as we all looked to the man sitting across the table. "I'll start with introductions then." The principal spoke, smiling at us. "As you know, I'm Mr. Clearwater. This is Mr. and Mrs. Morris. Mr. and Mrs. Morris, this is Captain and Captain Bradshaw." The principal nodded, as Bradley and I awkwardly smiled at  the prudish couple next to us, who could only meet us with narrowed eyes.
This wasn't awkward. Nope. Not one bit. I turned my head towards Mr. Clearwater, and I brought my left hand up to Bradley's, him grabbing mine with no hesitance. I swept my thumb across his knuckles as the principal flipped a laptop on his desk, showing a video feed of a camera on the playground.
The black and white film showed the little boy, who was now hiding behind his mom, approach Carole. Carole had been playing on the swing set, the camera facing her, so we only saw Billy's back. The video shows him pointing at her, and then she hops off the swing set. I watch my baby approach him, and the boy pushed her shoulders back. She then launched herself at him, and I could feel both mine and Bradley's eyebrows raise. The video stops as teachers rush over and pull her off the poor boy.
"So, Carole is facing a week's suspension." Mr. Clearwater addressed, as Bradley and I now had serious faces on.
"Okay, but what about the little boy?" Bradley asked, eyes focused on the man opposite side of the desk, ignoring the harsh looks of outrage from the Morris couple.
The question shocked the principal, who seemingly had to a double take. I squeezed Bradley's hand, to show him that I full-heartedly was with him on this. "Sorry?" The principal asked.
"What about Billy's punishment?" I asked, pointedly. "I mean it's clear he started the altercation. He shoved our daughter first, are you not going to do anything about that?" I spoke, letting go of my daughter and my husbands hand, crossing my arms. Rooster nodded from behind me in agreement.
Mr. Clearwater opened his mouth to speak before Mrs. Morris cut him off. "Mister Clearwater!" She scolded, her face angrier than I think I've ever seen anyone be angry, "You can't seriously be suspending our son! That little monster," She sneered, pointing at our daughter, at which I leaned forward, pushing Carole slightly behind me as I narrowed my eyes at the foul woman. She turned her head back to the principal before continuing, "attack our pour baby boy." She cried, holding her son, who tried to squirm out of her hold.
"Carole, Why did you attack Billie?" I asked, turning to my daughter. She looked up at me, with sadness in her eyes.
I could only offer a small smile to try to tell her I wasn't mad at her, just curious. "I can't tell you. You said never to say bad words." She responded, looking up at me.
Bradley ran his head down the back of her hair before addressing her, "You can some, just this once. What did he say to you?" He spoke, smiling at Carole with nothing but love in his eyes.
The little girl took a heavy breath, moving her gaze from her father to me. "He said that I was lying when I said you and daddy were pilots for the navy when we were talking about careers. He said that it was-" She paused, taking a breath and breaking eye contact before gazing back at me, "bullshit. And that you were probably just janitors or something." She spoke, as I held her arms, nodding.
I nodded, smiling at her before she opened her mouth again, this time shakier, "H-he also said," she stuttered, looking down as she kept speaking. My heart broke to see my baby girl this sad, "that if you guys were pilots that you were," she breathed, wiping tears from her eyes as I placed my hand on her cheek to console her, "shitty pilots and would probably crash and die." she finished, crying by now as I held her in my arms.
I looked briefly to Bradley, who now held an aura of seriousness about him, as his father had died in a plane crash. I held my baby as I looked angrily to the principal, eyebrows raised. "I think that's all we need then. Billy will retain a week of suspension, and while Carole did not provoke the other student, she still did attack him so she will also be facing a week's suspension." He finish, nodding at us as the Morris family stormed out, the mother practically dragging her son by the hand.
I sighed, picking up my daughter and handing her to Bradley as we made our way to the car. "Carole, you know we're not mad at you right?" I asked, turning around from the passenger seat as I looked at Carole, who sat proudly in the back in her car seat.
She nodded at me, opting to stay quiet as she played with a doll, petting its hair. "I love you, baby." Rooster spoke, turning around from the drivers seat as he winked at Carole.
She smiled up at her dad, softly but still looked at her doll. "I love you too. I'm sorry."
"Don't be, princess." He spoke, his eyes now focused on the road before us. "Do you wanna come to Mommy and Daddy's work? You can see Auntie Nat." He spoke, glancing every so often in the rear view to look at our daughter.
This seemed to do the trick, as Carole immediately brightened up, the earlier events forgotten about. "Yes please!" She cheered, almost jumping in her seat as I turned back to smile at her before facing front again, aviators resting on my face once again as I glanced at the time.
By now it was around 11:00, and I was feeling hungry. "Carole what do you say we go get McDonalds for lunch?" I smiled, facing my daughter who cheered once again. Bradley laughed, shaking his head as he moved to turn into the nearest McDonald's parking lot.
And one big mac, one ten piece nugget, both with fries and Sprite, and one kids meal later we were all at base. Bradley and I walked in, Carole holding Rooster's hand, her other hand holding her Happy Meal box, as she had little shades on her face. They were kid's aviators, that she insisted on having after her father and I wore our own so much.
"Aunt Nattie!" Carole yelled, seeing a group of Lieutenant's all listening to Phoenix, as they stood in front of the runway, seemingly they were about to go suit up. The little girl dropped her father's hand and tenderly placed her Happy Meal box on the pavement beneath her before running up to her honorary aunt.
Natasha spun on her heels, bending down slightly with arms wide open, grabbing the five year old and spinning her in the air, before allowing the child to rest on her hip. "Hello my favorite niece. Would you like to tell your mommy's class what they should always remember before they fly?" She asked the girl in her arms as I handed Carole's happy meal to Bradley, who didn't have a class right now.
Carole perked up, smiling as she moved her head to address the group of Lieutenant's. Half of them looked like they would melt at Carole as they admired my baby. It would be the first time for this class to see them, as they were only three weeks into their course and it was the first time in awhile that Carole would visit Rooster and I's work. "Don't try to dogfight Auntie Phoenix or Momma C/S. They will always win. But, you can always beat Uncle Hangman!" She nodded as she explained to the Lieutenants.
Bradley and I burst out laughing, wondering when the hell Natasha taught her thought. "Yes Ma'am." A few of the Lieutenants sounded, giggling. "Alright. With that message, I'll give you back to your main instructor. Captain Bradshaw." She nodded at me, as I smiled and thanked her as she still held on to Carole, her and Bradley heading toward the break room.
"Right then. Did you guys just finish the simulated mission, or were you about to start?" I asked, as Lieutenant Evers was quick to respond.
"We just finished." He informed, taking his aviators off.
"And?" I asked, expectantly as I raised my eyebrows from behind my own sunglasses.
"No one succeeded." Arrow, a younger female Lieutenant, admitted, as I clapped my hands together.
"Alright then. Let's review." I spoke, opening the door to the base as the Lieutenants followed me, heading to the mission review room.
I was halfway into breaking down Arrow, Jackal, and his WSO Hotdog- Lieutenant Evers-, who had lost one too many eating contests,  before being interrupted by a knock at the door. I opened it to find Carole resting in Bradley's arms. I raised my eyebrows in confusion, but a smile put on my face from being greeted with my two favorite people in the world.
"How may I help you?" I asked, quirking my eyebrow at Carole.
"She said she wants to go to Mommy's class. So I figured I'd ask if you have an empty seat for us." Bradley spoke for Carole, who smiled shyly into her fathers chest.
This prompted a chuckle from me, as I opened the door wider. "I think I have a few empty seats in the front just for you, missy." I teased, winking at my daughter as I pinched at her arm. Bradley smiled at her, before turning to me to peck a kiss on my lips before entering the review room. "Thank you Captain Bradshaw." He teased, walking in as the Lieutenants faces brightened up at my daughter.
"Anytime, Captain Bradshaw." I nodded, a goofy smile on my face as I took to the podium once more. "Alright, where were we?" I asked my class, before smiling as I held up my hand, the clicker for the presentation behind me clutched in between my fingers. I narrowed my eyes briefly at the screen, before pausing the video. "Alright. Decision time.  Arrow, Jackal. You two were up against Phoenix in my F-35. You hadn't started the mission yet, when Captain Trace entered the scene as a bogie. What was your decision?" I asked, crossing my arms as I turned back to the Lieutenants before me. They didn't answer.
I sighed, placing the clicker on the podium before me. "Who was mission leader?" I asked, my hands now on the podium as I shifted my weight to my arms. Arrow raised her hand. "Alright Lieutenant Brookston, it's on you then. What did you decide to do when Hotdog alerted you of the bogie?" I asked, looking at the female pilot before me.
"He didn't, Captain Bradshaw." She responded, chewing gum as she glanced over at Jackal and Hotdog before returning her gaze to the front. "They abandoned me without giving me a heads up to take Phoenix on a one-on-one. I continued en-route to the mission and hit the target. I then bailed out of the climb when I hit 8G's, ma'am." The Lieutenant explained.
I raised my eyebrows as I looked over at Jackal and his WSO. Expressing nothing but how unimpressed I was on my face, as I nodded at the pair. "What have you been taking notes from a younger version of Captain Seresin? Do you really think it wise to abandon your wingman to take on a superior aircraft on your own?" I scolded, as I crossed my arms.
Evers held his head low, listening to me as his gaze met the floor. Jackal looked up at me with a fire in his eyes. "It's not the plane ma'am. It's the pilot." He spoke, determined as I narrow my eyes at the lieutenant.
Carole raised her hand from where she sat next to her father. I looked away from the Lieutenant to point to my kid. "What's up Carole?" I asked.
"Isn't it always better to fight with your wingman than abandon them and try to prove that you're better than your enemy? You always say that its better to stick with your friends than to try to go out on your own!" She cheered before sipping her McFlurry.
Rooster looked at her shocked, as the rest of the Lieutenants also had looks of shock pass over them. "Jackal can you explain why my five year old knows how to dogfight better than you?" I asked, as the young Lieutenant huffed. Smiling, I glanced at my watch to notice it was time for the cadets to have a break. "You're all dismissed." I smiled, as the Lieutenants left the room in a hurry, many of them high fiving Carol on the way out.
I smiled at Carole as Rooster played with her and an airplane figurine that was lying around. "Carole, which plane is that?" I mused as my baby looked at me, and looked back at the plane. She narrowed her eyes in concentration, making a funny face and pursing her lips.
She looked between me and the plane, as if it was some kind of trick question. "It's an F-18." She determined, nodding as she handed with back to her father, who had the biggest grin on his face as he looked over at me. I smiled, closing my eyes as I nodded to her.
"That it is, sweet girl." I spoke, as Natasha and Jake walked into the room, the four of us- well usually five with Bob, would often use the break time as a lunch and get-together. To talk about cadets, and just generally hangout.
"Uncle Jake!" Carole cheered, making her way out of the blue seat before running up to the blond male.
"There's my favorite girl!" Hangman cheered, picking up the small girl as Bradley stood up. Jake held the small child in his arm, resting her on his hip like how Phoenix and I did previously. "Oooh! A McFlurry." He teased, picking up her drink as she whined and hit him on the shoulder. "Ow. ow! Stop it! Here!" He laughed, handing the drink to Carole as he set the girl down in the blue chair before him. "Now I know how Billy feels." He muttered, causing Bradley to chuckle, as I sighed at the pair.
Carole sat clueless to the joke, sipping her ice cream shake before looking up at Phoenix. "Auntie Nat?" She asks, as Phoenix turned from where she stood.
"What's up, sweetheart?" Natasha asked, running her hand through Carole's hair.
"Why do you and Uncle Jake and daddy fly F-18's and mommy gets an F-35? That seems unfair." She pointed out, placing her drink in the cupholder as she crossed her arms judgmentally. I swear I saw Rooster sneak out his phone to take a photo of her in this position.
Natasha thought for a moment before responding. "Because you can't tell anyone, but your mommy flies better than everyone else here, so they gave her a better plane. But your mommy is super nice and shares with her friends, so sometimes she lets me fly her plane." She explained, squatting before the girl as Carole nodded, as if affirming the knowledge Natasha was telling her.
"But how do you fly without Uncle Bob?" She asked, confused.
"Your mommy's plane is just that good." Natasha spoke, before tickle attacking the small girl.
Carole giggled, and turned towards me after Natasha let up. "Mommy!" She called, as I looked at her.
"Carole!" I responded, as Bradley had moved to the computer that held my presentation, wrapping it up and shutting it down for me.
"Can I see your plane? Like can I sit inside of it?" she asked, stars in her eyes looking up at me. God I was so screwed. That little girl could ask for me to give her the world and I don't think I could say no.
"Of course!" Bradley spoke, before going to grab his daughter, and carried her out of the room, winking at me as he walked out.
"So she's suspended from school." I spoke, as Hangman and Phoenix sat down, both turning to me with looks of shock.
Jake gave me a weird look. "What did she get suspended for? Saying a potty word?" He teased as Natasha jabbed him in the ribs. "Ow." he spoke, looking at the black haired girl, betrayed.
"Nah. She launched herself at this little shithead who talked about me and Bradley not being pilots, or good pilots at least, and saying that we would die in a jet crash. Honestly I don't know how to even punish her for that, because I'm pretty sure Bradley and I would do the same thing if someone said that now." I explained, as I sat down on a chair with wheels in front of the duo.
"Just do the whole 'violence is never the issue' thing." Phoenix suggested, as she took a sip from her water bottle. I nodded, before wheeling across the room to my computer, closing it and sliding it in my bag.
"It'll probably be what I end up doing. I just don't want her to think Bradley and I are mad at her, you know?" I explained, as the two nodded in agreement. "You know she still asks when she can go to Uncle Jake and Uncle Bob's house." I teased, smirking up at Hangman.
Phoenix turned towards the blond, a giddy grin lacing her face as she wiggled her eyebrows at him. "She can sleepover today honestly. Bob said he's feeling better. I can call him right now and ask if you and Rooster want a night off." He suggested, pulling his phone out of his pants pocket.
"Honestly, you can take her for the night if you'd like." I nodded. "She doesn't have school tomorrow, so I need to find someone to watch her. I might pin her on Mav and Penny if they're not too busy." I thought. "Alright, you call Bob. I'm going to go stop my husband and child from stealing my third baby." I joked, referring to my plane as I walked out the door. Phoenix followed me, as Jake gave me a thumbs up from where he was standing on the phone at the back of the room.
The walk to the jet hangar wasn't long, and I soon found my baby sitting in the pilots seat, an oversized helmet barely resting on her head as she put her hands on the controls. "Wooosh." Rooster spoke, grabbing the helmet by one hand on the top, whirling her around as she giggled.
"Why are they so cute?" I complained to Phoenix as we walked up as she giggled. She walked up to the plane as I checked my phone, a text from Hangman confirming that Bob would love to have Carole spend the night.
I smiled as I walked up to the trio, Phoenix now making fake coms with Carole as Bradley greeted me by wrapping an arm around my waist. "How would you feel about her spending the night with Jake and Bob?" I asked as he looked to me, Carole happily distracted with Phoenix as she wore her father's helmet.
Bradley smiled at me, pulling me closer to him as he whispered in my ear, still making eye contact. "I'd love some alone time, Mrs. Bradshaw." He teased, winking before he tickled me.
"Bradley!" I scolded, jumping as I jokingly pushed him away, only for him to pull me closer, kissing me on the temple.
"Yeah. I think a night with Jake and Bob would be good for her." He spoke, smiling as he watched Carole go 'pew pew' with the plane. I swear I could watch his heart melt as I pressed a kiss to his jawline.  "I love you." he spoke, looking at Carole before turning his gaze to me.
"I love you too." I smiled up at him, pressing a kiss to his lips before being interrupted by Carole.
"Ewww!" She whined, causing Bradley to rush up and grab the helmet off of her, Rooster peppering her with kisses, despite her best efforts to shoo her father away. I smiled, watching my husband and my baby goof around as I could only gaze at them with love and admiration in my eyes. Maybe being suspended isn't such a bad thing.

To me, each of my reader insert characters are kind of characters in their own right.
You have Scout, a socialite uprooted from her home in Baltimore. She does it because it'll make her brother happy, but damn it! She's going to complain the whole time! But she truly does love her brother, and she's going to help make everything work out. And then this devilishly handsome man who's practically sex on legs starts taking an interest in her, but she's not having it because she's more than just a pretty face, and she KNOWS it. She's smart, resourceful, witty, and so much more than her background would lead you to believe initially. She's outspoken and not afraid to speak her mind.
Then you have Birdie (Bradley's love interest). She uprooted her life on her own for the chance of living her dream. And yeah, she's not exactly the most outspoken of the trio, but she's got a heart of gold. She CARES, and that's what makes her dangerous. She goes above and beyond for the people she cares about. She'd move heaven and earth if that's what it would take to make things right in the world. Bradley makes her stronger, and she makes Bradley kinder in a world that is not necessarily forgiving of the kind. She makes Bradley want to be better. She makes him want to FEEL.
And last, but certainly not least, we have Bunny (Bob's girl). We all know Bunny doesn't come from a great background (pretty sure that's the understatement of the century), but she didn't know any different. Still, she risked everything to build a better life for herself. She carried herself with only the clothes on her back, all the way to Maverick where she meets the sweetheart that is Bob Floyd. For the first time, she experiences a man showering her with kindness who doesn't have any alternative motive other than just KNOWING her. She allows herself to open up to him, to be vulnerable with him. And that is so brave of her.

Zombie Apocalypse AU;
Bradley being the leader of his small group of survivors, they find Jake on accident when boy was badly injured and barely holding a gun straight with his bloody hand. They'll patch him up and suggests him to stay with them so Jake sticks around for few days (which leads to first time he sleeps with Bradley) and next morning he's gone and has taken some supplies with him too..
Few weeks pass until they meet Jake again. This time the boy helps them run away from a hard situation surrounding by zombies and this time, Bradley won't let him go. That boy takes first step and offers to share his caravan, his supplies, his everything and his life with Jake if he stays. And this time Jake accepts but he only stays as one of group's member. Saying he doesn't do 'feelings' and 'domestic life'. They'll continue their journey to find big colony of survivors (the place's called East of Eden and is the only place people not-infected live there).
Jake and Bradley take 'guards' part (everyone should have a role in colony). One night Jake wanders a little too far away and Brad in tow to stop him but something happens and they're under zombies attack before they know. Bradley gets hurt during saving Jake (not bitten!) And Jake spends days at his bedside, holding his hand and begging him to wake up (he's going through harsh fever because of injuries and lost lots of blood) he kisses Brad's forehead when he opens his eyes; "I can't stand losing you again, marry me"💗

Well, does someone want angst?
I swear, it's only an au because I wanted to hurt ronnie...
And because I've fell in love with Chris I can't stop writing him!
@oh-surprise-its-me
"I've been called back to top gun."
That's the first and only thing Jake told his dad. Chris knows better than ask for more knows Jake can't tell him anything else. Besides, if he's been called back, it must be big. His boy is old enough. His boy is strong enough. Chris still is his father, he worries.
"I know you can't tell me more," he told him instead. He pulled Jake closer before he walked toward the plane that would take him to Miramar. He hugged him tight. "Promise you'll be as safe as you can, chickie, okay?"
Jake can only nod tearfully. Chris almost never called him that, it's usually Jake. Jakey. Baby. Never chickie, unless--
"I promise papa. I love you."
"So do I."
Chris slipped not so discreetly something in his pocket. When Jake was sitting on the plane, javy at his side, he pinned the medal to his jacket.
"Any idea why we've been called there?"
Jake shook his head.
"As much as you do, Jav. Uncle is so busy that he even missed dad's birthday."
"You're kidding, I hope. He never--"
"I'm not expecting a text for mine either. Look, Jav, honestly... ever since Papa's--"
"So he just cuts you two off? Seriously?"
Jake doesn't tell him that last time he saw his uncle Ice, at least six months before, he could read him so well, and what he saw was raw pain. Something not even maverick could fix, something Jake only ever saw on his dad.
"The commander is busy..."
Jake said instead, and Javy scoffed. He looked at him, at the medal pinned to his jacket. He gently knocked twice on the medal.
"Admiral kerner, Sir, just in case you can hear me, there's an ass to kick, if you wouldn't mind."
Jake choked a laughter. He knew javy was trying to make him laugh. He also knew he would ask his father that, too. Except if his father was there, javy wouldn't need to ask him.
Seeing Maverick was weird, too. It wasn't like he stopped visiting, he still did it, and he still worked on cars with dad. But he was captain Mitchell there. And he was lieutenant Seresin.
Fuck. He wanted to change his name, he.thpught of that ever since papa and dad got married.
"I wanna take both. Can I?"
He never did, in the end. His name was still Jacob Seresin, and nothing else.
Captain Mitchell gave him a little smile, and Jake smiled back. And that was it. Jake stopped just a moment longer, staring at the pictures in the hall. Just one, long enough to feel himself tear up, and Javy wrapped an arm around his shoulders.
"He's proud of you. I know he is. And--"
He hesitated, waited for a group to pass behind them, shielding Jake from their prying eyes.
"He'll watch over you, like always."
Jake knew his best friend meant well, it didn't help him, though, not as he wanted to.
"Don't want him to watch over me, Jav." He sniffled quietly. "I wanted him there with me and dad."
Javy simply held him tight, so tight that Jake wished to disappear into his arms.
God, he missed him so, so much.
Jake almost got mav. God, he got so close to lock on him that it's almost scary. Mav knows he can't pick Jake. He can't play favoritism. Hell, if it was for him, he would pick none of those kids. He would fly out himself, on his own.
Jake almost got him, he's the one who got the closest, no wonder, he has one confirmed kill, too. The kid is good, and he's always been good.
Jake almost got a lock on Maverick, and all he could think as he initiated evasive maneuvers and got a lock on him was how crazy familiar that was.
Jake almost got Mav, the first time round, and it was so fucking painful. Two and half years had passed and Mav thought it was alright, he thought he was alright. He knew Chris would never be, nor would Jake. And God forbid Tom. But he thought he-- God, how wrong he was.
Mav swallowed as he passed the boys doing push up after losing. He didn't look down at them, his back straight, his eyes set ahead.
"He flies like him."
He doesn't say hi when Tom's face appears in the phone screen. Mav's crying, he can't stop, he can't fucking stop. Ice frowned, he tilted his head to the side.
"Bradley?"
They haven't talked to Bradley in years, he saw the photos, he looks exactly like Goose. Down to the last bit. It's like seeing Goose over and over again, there was no other way Mav could react, after all.
Mav shook his head, a louder sob escaping his lips, he wiped his face.
"Jake."
The sound is almost strained. Choked.
A plead.
"Tom, he flies just like Ron. I can't-- I can't even look him in the eyes without seeing him."
Jake had always looked like Ron. Not physically perhaps, but in the way he talked, and moved, amd, yeah... apparently flying, too.
"Mav--"
"Never thought I'd say it, you know? But I miss him. He should've--"
He shook his head.
"Forget I said it, baby."
He muttered when he saw Tom's eyes get glassy.
"I know, Pete. I miss him too."
For once, he spared him of the blame and guilt he felt every time.
Tom still felt guilty, he will always feel guilty. He sent Ron there, he sent him in the mission that ultimately-- he sent him to his death. It was a suicide mission, one with no ways to come out victorious. Or, well, they were victorious, there was no way to win AND come back too. Ron knew, Ron accepted.
Ron kissed his husband, and their son. He kissed Mav on the top of his head. He kissed Tom a moment longer.
Ron knew the risks. Ron knew there was no other way. He could've refused. He didn't.
Tom had to hand out the folded flag without a single tear on his face. Tom had to say a speech he wrote down, a paper where the ink was smudged by thousand tears and the page was crumpled. Tom-- the commander of the pacific fleet had to take off his wings and punch them.
Chris dared to forgive him.
"I miss his every fucking--" he broke.
Tom almost called Mav off when he decided to fly as team leader. He flew to Miramar, burst into the room like a fury, screaming at Maverick before even setting his eyes on him.
"It's suicide. You know it is."
"That's why I can't have the kids do that, don't you think?"
The commander almost called off the mission. Oh, if only he could.
"Tom--"
"I can't lose you. I can't-- I've lost enough already, don't make me lose you too."
"I do the impossible, Mr Iceman. You're not gonna lose me."
Tom prayed. For the second time in his life. He begged them to bring his husband home.
Mav was down.
Tom felt the world spin and shrink around him. Not his husband.
Rooster was down.
Tom felt like he was going to die. Not him too, oh God, not him.
They were back. They were airborne again. A miracle, Cyclone muttered.
Tom knew that miracle really well, and it had golden wings, large enough to shield them.
He promised. He promised, amd they were his pilots. Heavens, he could swear he almost saw a golden shine.
Jake flew like him. Tom realized the.moment he took off and killed the enemy aircraft, emerging from the smoke. It was I'm the mathematical precision he took the shot. It was in the way he inclined his jet to return on the carrier.
But it wasn't everything.
Jake looked like him.
He took his helmet off and hopped down of the jet with a little jump, he rushed to Mav and Bradley. He didn't stophe picked Bradley up, the man gave a strangled squeak as Jake's arms wrapped around him, he held onto him when he spun him around twice, setting him back on the ground, kissing him like that was the last day on Earth. Or perhaps the first.
Tom could see Ron run up to Chris. He was his son down to the last bit.
Mav wrapped himself on him as Tom took out his phone, he closed his eyes, his nose against Tom's neck, he vagiely heard the soft sound of a call in waiting.
"Tommy?"
Mav looked up.
Jake looked back, his face finally detaching itself from Bradley's.
"Hey, Chris, darling... I'm taking our boys home."
Mav saw Chris break in a tearful smile.
"I never doubted you Tommy. Not one time."

🤠👶🏾🐓 Life as We Know It AU🤠👶🏾🐓
Tumblr media
Jake Seresin is the owner of a small but successful bakery, and Bradley Bradshaw is a promising television technical sports director for the San Diego *whatever sports team*.
A few years ago, they were set up by their navy pilot best friends, Natasha Trace and Javy Machado, on a blind date that went so terribly wrong they vowed to hate the other forever and never see each other again.
Or not…because their best friends got married and had a beautiful baby boy, Bob (named after Nat’s WSO, of course). They also chose Bradley and Jake to be their son’s godparents.
Unfortunately, Bobby becomes an orphan at the tender age of one as his parents both die on a secret mission. While they grieve for their best friends, Jake and Bradley learn their friends named them Bob's joint guardians. After finding that none of Natasha and Javy’s relatives are fit to take care of their son, Jake and Bradley put their differences aside and move into their godson's family home.
It seems living together in their deceased friends’ home while raising their son and working full time is quite the challenge for Bradley and Jake. Especially when a Child Protective Services caseworker, Beau Simpson, is assigned to their case to see if they are fit to be Bob’s parents. To add a bit of drama, the two men start to mutually-idiotically pine for one another, and there is also a handsome doctor who is very eager to seduce Jake and happens to be Bob’s pediatrician too…

Pregnancy Announcement - pt 1: The Dagger Squad
Tumblr media
(not my gif)
pairing: jake ‘hangman’ seresin x fem!oc
characters: jake seresin, fem!oc (sarah), the dagger squad, the bradshaws + gunner
warnings: language, marrige, pregnancy, drinking (of age), im sorry if I missed any
word count: ~1.3k
a/n: this is part 1 of a 3 part headcannon of Sarah and Jake telling there friends and family of their pregnancy. however they are keeping the twins a secret from everyone other than Alyssa and Rooster
this is the next part in this oc series, which is inspired by @roosterscockpit ‘s ( @milesdickpic ) story ‘His Little Girl’ and yes the oc is based on me (but is mainly fantasy me lol)
************
Sarah and Jake thought the best way to tell the squad about the newest additions was to just invite them over for a cookout, something simple.
“Hey guys,” Jake caught the attention of the group at the Hard Deck.
“What’s up man?” Coyote asked, sitting back on a bar stool.
“Sarah and I were thinking of doing a cookout this weekend, if you guys were down with that. This invitation extends to partners and kids as well.”
The group nodded, “Sure man.”
Jake smiled, “Great! I’ll let her know.” He pulled out his phone and sent her a quick text.
“Where is she anyway?” Alyssa asked, glancing around. “Oh, they had an away game. I would be there but by the time we got off, it was too late. I would have missed it.”
“We need to go to one of the games,” Mav piped up. “Amelia says the games are very interesting. And that Sarah’s got some special plays.”
Rooster smirked, but Alyssa smacked the back of his head before he could speak. “Ow! Why’d you do that? I didn’t say anything!” “You were about to.”
Jake laughed and shook his head.
“Okay, so everyone’s in?” They all nodded. He clapped his hands, “Perfect. It’ll start at around 3:30 on Saturday.”
When Saturday came around Sarah and Jake were up early and cleaning the house and the backyard.
“Sarah, Sugar, you can slow down. We have plenty of time before people get here.” She shook her head, “I know that Honey, but I just want everything to be clean.” She huffed a little, “Plus, I’ll need to clean the kitchen after prep and cooking and-”
Jake wrapped his arms around her waist, “Darlin’, chill out. I know you want this to go well, I do too. But you can’t stress about it. It’ll be fine.” He pressed his lips to her temple and took the rag from her hand, “I’ll finish this up, you get started.”
Everyone began showing up around 3:15.
They’re military, they show up early.
Sarah was making the handmade burger patties when the first round of people arrived.
*knock knock* “Oh, crap! Jake! Honey, would you answer the door? I’m in the middle of something?” She called through the open sliding glass door where Jake was getting the back deck setup. “Yeah, sure,” he jogged through the house and opened the front door.
He opened the door, “Oh! If it ain’t the Bradshaws!” “Uncle Jake!” Leia hugged Jake’s waist. “Vapor!” He picked her up and gave her a squeeze. Jake gave Alyssa a side hug and did his best attempt at a bro hug with Rooster.
They walked toward the kitchen, “Oh Sarah~” Jake called.
She wiped her hand on a towel, “Yeees~” She replied in the same tone Jake entered with.
She turned, her smile widening when she saw the group, “Hey guys!” She opened her arms for a hug and Bradley immediately reciprocated, “Future Mrs. Seresin! How are you and baby Seresin?” “We’re doing good. Oh Lyss, you can sit the cupcakes on the counter right there.”
Sarah and Alyssa shared a hug, “Oh, you’re absolutely glowing, girl.” “Thank you. And thank you for bringing the cupcakes.” “Of course.”
Sarah pointed to her fiancé, “Jake, get out of the cupcakes.”
“It was Leia!” “Was not!”
Sarah pulled back from Alyssa and put her hands on her hips, “Jake, did you just accuse the sweetest little girl on the planet of trying to steal a cupcake?” Leia nodded and Sarah gasped dramatically and shook her head.
It didn’t take long for the rest of the squad and their partners to arrive and the grilling to get underway.
“So, have you and Hangman picked a date yet?” Cyclone asked. Sarah sipped her drink, “Well, we’re shooting for October 7th or 14th but we’re trying to be flexible. You never know when…” Cyclone nodded, sipping his own drink, “I’ll try to keep him home.” Sarah smiled, “Thank you Admiral. We appreciate that.”
Bradley was with Jake by the grill, “Have you guys picked out a venue yet?” Jake shrugged and flipped a burger, “We haven’t really talked about it. All I know is that she wants the wedding in the fall and in Texas.” Bradley nodded and sipped his beer, “So she wants to wait until…” He trailed off not wanting to give anything away.
Jake nodded, “Yeah, she wants to wait. You know, I think I can talk my parents into letting us use the ranch. She loves it and one of our favorite memories happened in one of the fields.” Bradley pinched his brows, “Hangman, as much as I love both of you, I don’t want to go to a wedding in the same field you-” “No! Dude!” Jake made a shocked face before speaking again.
“Okay, well kinda- but that’s not the point. I’m thinking of it being the field that we danced in. Being just lit up by the headlights of my truck, slow dancing to a country song in the pouring rain. God, I think that was the night I decided she was my forever.”
Bradley patted Jake’s shoulder, “I’m sure wherever it is, it’ll be beautiful.”
Rooster looked over at Sarah to see her on the deck steps Gunner. “Oooo, Hangman, you better be ready. Gunner has her under a puppy spell.” Jake turned to see Sarah cuddling the puppy as Leia ran around with some of the other kids in the backyard.
He groaned, “I’m gonna be in for a ride…”
Not too long later the food was ready and everyone had a plate and was sitting at a table, on the deck furniture, or they were standing.
Jake cleared his throat, “Aviators! And company. Can we have your attention?”
Everyone turned to where Jake and Sarah stood by the sliding door.
He wrapped his arm around her, waist smiling at her as her hand rested on the growing bump that was hidden under her baggy sweater.
“We want to thank all of you for coming out tonight, Jake and I really appreciate it.”
The group cheered and lifted their drinks.
“As most of you have guessed, this is a cookout to celebrate our engagement. But we also have an announcement to make…”
The group shared looks of anticipation with one another as Sarah smiled up at Jake.
“We’re pregnant!”
The entire squad erupted in cheers, those standing placing their plates on the nearest surface to bring both of them into a hug.
Congratulations were shouted and ‘good luck’s were whispered in Sarah’s ear.
Everyone ate, asking questions about due dates and names. Whether or not they were going to move.
A few hours later, Jake and Sarah were talking to Maverick as he and Penny got ready to head home.
“In just a few months we’re gonna have one more Seresin running around causing trouble, eh?” Both Sarah and Jake laughed, “Yeah…” They sipped their drinks, mumbling the next word into their Dr. Pepper, “One…”
The captain pulled them both in for a hug, Penny and Amelia doing the same afterwards.
“Thank y’all for coming, drive safe!”
Jake and Sarah shared a look, bursting into laughter afterward, “Oh, Mav has no idea.”
A little while later, while the Bradshaws and the Seresins were cleaning, the two spilled, “We need to tell you guys something.”
Both Alyssa and Bradley stood up straight, sharing a look. “Is everything okay?”
Jake nodded, “Oh yeah, everything’s great. There was just a- a-uh-” “A surprise.” “Yeah, a surprise.”
The two look at them expectantly.
“We’re having twins.”
Their jaws drop, “WHAT?!”
Sarah and Jake laughed.
“When did you find out?” “Our appointment last week. The doctor thought the heartbeat sounded odd so she checked and there they were.”
Rooster bro hugged Jake as Alyssa gave Sarah a hug, “Congrats you guys. Hopefully they won’t be too much trouble.”
“They’re Jake’s kids, Lyss. They’re gonna be trouble.”

Not fully sure where this story is going other than it will be IceMav and their 12 adopted dagger squadron kids!
The dagger squad is determined to find out who Maverick is married to, leading to some shenanigans and eventually the reveal! Followed by one shots featuring MavDad Icemav and Dadmiral with the Daggers!
Feel free to leave requests and ideas
Maverick plotted a family grill, and he did so with great pleasure and a many a devious smirks. Though most of the smirks were for the days following the grill, but the grill was to be eventful as well.
That should have been the first sign of danger, but what really should have set off the daggers, was that Ice was plotting with a smirk too. When both of them were plotting and deviously smirking, then well, let's just say the world should fear for its safety.
The Daggers unknowingly walked right into the trap.
Phoenix and Bob were the first to arrive, always the timely ones. Rapidly followed by Fanboy and Payback, who forced to be early by Fanboy who insisted if they weren't early they were late and they needed to be ahead for good parking and if there was any traffic.
Not long after the rest of the squad appeared, Bradley and Jake being the last to arrive having been hanging out and then losing track of time.
No one asked questions on that one, but Maverick and Ice gave each other a look.
"Looks like everyone's here." Jake announced waltzing into the backyard.
"Not quiet, there is still a one more on their way." Maverick replied turning away to hide his smirk as he tended to the burgers.
"One more has arrived." Slider announced from the backyard door.
The Dagger's eyes went wide, all suddenly going to attention and just barely managing to restrain themselves from saluting realizing it was Admiral Kerner
"Daggers, same rule applies to for Slider as it does for me, no titles and no saluting in my house. This applies to all ranking officers in my house unless I say otherwise, and I do not intend to say otherwise." Ice announces walking up to Slider with a smirk.
Bradley slowly made his way to the back of the crowd of Daggers, hoping to evade being focused on as long as he could.
"Daggers, this is Slider, Ice's Rio." Maverick introduced.
"Daggers, I have heard a lot about you." Slider greeted, his eyes scanning the group recognizing each from pictures he had been sent. His eyes paused on the most familiar of faces, one hiding in the back: Bradley Bradshaw.
"They've heard about you too Sli, don't worry." Maverick assured, rolling his eyes.
"Oh, I have no doubt, however, I bet they haven't heard many stories about you two. I still like your aprons by the way." Slider smirked, and the Dagger's eyes lit up.
"Told you this would happen Ice." Maverick said as Slider became surrounded by 11 highly attentive Daggers. Fanboy already rattling off questions at a speed that would rival Maverick's flying.
Bradley held back in the crowd, uncertain of how to proceed. Causing Jake to give him a strange look and stay towards the back as well. Occasionally giving Bradley a questioning look between stories.
---
Eventually the Daggers calmed down and began to mingle around the backyard once more. Though Slider pulled off from the rest and gave a look to the one Dagger who had mostly avoided him thus far.
The Dagger continued to shy away even from the look, pretending to have missed it, thought Slider knew Bradley well enough to know, he didn't miss the look.
Slider decided he was taking this into his own hands, and swiftly walked across the backyard until he was right next to Bradley and grabbed his arm, not tight enough to hurt him, but enough to make it known he wasn't getting out of this.
"Come on kid, we have some stuff to talk about." Slider spoke with a decepitvely calm smile, though Bradley knew otherwise. Jake looked over with a questioning look, not trusting the calm, especially after noticing Bradley shy away from Ice's Rio. One of the rare times he wasn't the life of the party.
Ice gave Slider a look of warning from across the yard.
Slider just tilted his head and raised his eyebrows, effectively telling Ice, you knew this was coming and you shouldn't expect any less.
Ice nodded back in a sign of trust.
Slider guided Bradley upstairs to the guest bedroom, away from prying eyes and interupttions.
"Bradley." Slider greeted, waiting to see how Bradley would address him.
"Uncle Slider." Bradley said softly looking down.
Slider wasn't sure what name he would be called, but that was the one he was hoping for, or atleast it was as close as he was expecting to his usual 'Uncle Sli', but he doubted he would get that one yet. It had been too long and there was unresolved tension.
"Glad you atleast still consider me your Uncle."
Bradley just nodded. He knew what was comign to a certain degree, adn was already feeling the guilt.
"I'm sure you already know why I pulled you aside."
Bradley once again nodded, paying close attention to the details on the bedding rather than his uncle.
"I know Maverick probably let you back in with open arms, and Ice probably gave you a quick lecture then let you right on in after everything that happened."
Bradley silently nodded once more.
"I also know, that they did that because they love you so much and have waited years to have you back in their lives. I know they don't want to risk losing you again and quickly forgave some things that might should've still been spoke about. I do not fault them for it, they did what they felt the should. However, that means I am going to do what I feel I should."
Bradley didn't even bother to nod, he just let his head hang.
"Baby Goose, look at me." Slider said softly, the whole time he had been there Bradley had never once looked up at him.
Slowly, Bradley looked up at his uncle, and Slider saw the guilt in his eyes.
"I am telling you all of this as your Uncle who loves you, do not doubt that as I speak." Slider started, placing a hand on Bradley's shoulder and looking him straight in the eye.
"You screwed up kid, so did Mav and Ice, but so did you. Mav and Ice, they did what they did to protect you. As twisted as it was, it was out of love. Should they have not done it? Maybe, we will never know what would have happened, but you messed up that night too. Maverick, he helped raise you from the day you were born from what I've heard. After Goose, he grasped on even tighter. Ice helped raise you, especially after your mom. Maverick did a lot for you, and he did it out of love. So did Ice. That does not make everything they do right, they mess up just like everyone else. However, you reaction to them messing up, that is a problem. You threw everything you had at Ice and Mav, but especially Mav. You know them best and you used that to your advantage and you hurt them. They hurt you, but they did it out of love. You hurt them and did it out of anger. Maverick was a mess after you left, and Ice wasn't much better. You are their kid. You hurled every insult in the book at them and even wrote a few more. I don't care what is going on, you should never, and I mean never, throw your fathers death in your Dad or Pop's faces. You've seen the effects of that self imposed guilt. You've seen the reports. You know it wasn't their fault. I saw it first hand. Mistakes were made but no one was at fault. Maverick tried everything to save you dad. Ice watched over from above with me as we waited for help for them. So I don't ever want to hear that you threw that in either of their faces again."
Bradley had tears running down his face, he knew how much he had screwed up that night. He hadn't fully understood why Maverick and Ice had let him back in so easily, but that was because he didn't want to think about it, because he already knew: no matter how badly he screwed up they were still his family and they loved him unconditionally.
He also knew that he had already thrown it in Maverick's face again.
"I know Ice alreayd lecture you on when you did it a few weeks ago. So I will stop there for that. However, there is stuff they won't tell you that I will. When you left, they were devastated. They did everything to keep up with you without getting too close. They did their best to give you space once they realized you weren't going to answer a phone call or a text. They watched from afar. They were there fro every milestone they could be, usually hiding out in the back. They cared even when you said you hated them. They showed up. Maverick's flying became something else entirely. No one could tell if he was flying dangerously, or if he just used it to control the chaos. You know Mav, he can do anything in a plane, but those months after you left, I saw him do things he never dared try before, but he did it all while in control. Because that was the only chaos he could control. Ice, well many of his subordinates quickly came to further conclusions on why he was called Iceman. He shut down, he was cold as ice. He didn't waiver, he didn't show any emotion. He just was cold. Only when he was home did he let anythign out adn even that was rare. He just shut down. So did Maverick. Ice, people were used to seeing him steel up, but Maverick, that's a scary sight. Maverick just wasn't Maverick. If he wasn't in the sky, he was hollow. He just went through the motions."
Slider paused for a moment letting Bradley take in what he was saying.
"I tell you all of this, because I need to know, that the next time you get mad you won't just run out again. Because they cannot take it again, and I will not accept it again. They told us we couldn't go after you and drag you back, that you had to come back on your own. Though even Ice grew tired of that. He pulled you and Maverick together for the mission, though yall were the only options. He chose becuase of skill not becuase of family. Know that, you earned your place in the mission. I need to know though, that you won't ever do that again."
"I don't plan on ever leaving again." Bradley said, despite the tears in his eyes and those streaming down his face filled with guilt, his voice was strong. If only for that line.
"Now come here Baby Goose, I've missed you." Slider opened his arms for a hug which Bradley quickly accepted. Slider held him tight.
"I've missed you too Uncle Sli."
After a few moments, Bradley's tears had dried up and they split away from one another.
"I'll give you the warned, I'm not the only uncle back in town."
"So training tomorrow is going to be really interesting?
"Yep."
