run. that’s the only word that could register inside your head. run.

your feet bounded against the ground, fallen branches around you snapping beneath your weight. run. you had never thought that this would be how you die, running through the woods of camp half-blood that is. run. you can hear his footsteps approaching closer. “y/n. you know you can’t run from me. i’m stronger than you. i’m faster than you. i will have what is mine.” run. your head is starting to pound, you can’t hear anything but your blood pumping through your ears. you look around starting to recognize the woods, thalia’s tree in the distance. camp. you’re close to to camp, you’re close to others, you’re close to freedom. you just have to run. “why do you keep running. it’s useless. you’re never going to make it.” the male behind you laughs. he’s much closer now, you can feel his warmth pressing into your back. he’s toying with you. it takes a split second, a split second too late. your movements falter when the realization kicks in. he’s toying with you. you freeze up, only for a second. rough hands grab your arms, slamming your back into a hard chest. a sob escapes your throat as you’re pulled back into the woods. you were so close to the camp. you could smell the strawberry field, you could hear the campers chattering. all you had to do was run.

“why did you run. i told you that you weren’t going to make it. i’m sorry, dear.”
