Russia is militarizing kids as young as 8. In Putin's equivalent of the Hitler Youth, some of the kids are using weapons that look like they are in better shape than the ones given to the poorly trained invaders occupying parts of Ukraine.

Some kids under 18 are already serving in various roles in Russia's armed forces. This is another indication of the massive losses suffered during Putin's "special operation" which was supposed to last three days. Child soldiers are needed by Putin to replace adults killed in combat.

Russia is also attempting to brainwash Ukrainian kids deported by the occupiers into being loyal to Russia. Wiping out Ukrainian identity is one of the forms of genocide as first identified by Raphael Lemkin during World War II and defined and codified into international law by the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.

Not related to the military, but Putin in general has no qualms about using kids as pawns.

Lecture 8: In 1964, before the Rolling Stones emerged as the chief rivals to The Beatles in the British Invasion, stiff competition among teen fans pitted the Fab Four against rock ‘n’ roll “challengers” the Dave Clark Five (DC5). Actually, the members of both bands had little to do with the “rivalry,” which was the product of the record companies (to increase album sales) and magazine publishers, which made a small fortune from publishing special issues like the ones pictured here, both from 1964. The rivalry – more imagined than real – excited the thriving teenage market demographic, prompting youths to buy records, start fan clubs, and solidify their loyalty to either – and, in many instances, both – bands. Before long, however, the DC5 began to lose momentum, eclipsed in the British Invasion by the up-and-coming Rolling Stones by the summer of 1965.

“Charged With Killing Woman,” Kingston Whig-Standard. February 20, 1933. Page 9. ---- Two Youths on Trial for Brutal Murder at Amherst, N.S. Feb. 20— Charged with the murder of Mrs. Elmer E. Smith, Amherst woman, who was knifed and beaten to death the night of Feb 3, two 18-year -old youths appeared in Court today before Magistrate A. McKenzie.

No evidence was recorded and the two were remanded to jail to await preliminary hearing one Thursday, February 23.

One was Alavah Kenwood, who married an Amherst girl on Saturday night and was arrested on Sunday in the room he and his bride had taken scarcely more than twenty-four hours before.

The other, Trueman Smith, was arrested at the home of his aunt in Backville about ten miles from here.

Police today said they knew about the complete story of the murder. Henwood had confessed they said and told them that he had planned to rob the Smith residence a week before the murder was committed, but had hit his nerve and requested the assistance of Trueman Smith. Trueman is not related to the victim.

The police said Henwood told them he knocked at the Smith residence about 7.30 on the night of February 3 and' asked for Mrs. Smith's son, Wilson. When she said he was not home Henwood thrust his foot between the door and lintel and he and his companion entered. Police alleged that Henwood grabbed the woman by the throat and after choking her, threw her on the floor. Henwood said Smith, who carried a baseball bat under his coat, struck her on head three times.

I can't stop thinking about the news out of Palestine. Israel is sieging al Shifa hospital. Videos of people's limbs being severed off are haunting (graphic video tw). The hospital has ran out of fuel and 39 babies in incubators are fending for their lives by themselves, because Israel has stationed snipers around the hospital and is shooting all medical crew that walks into their sight.

First, the narrative was Israel would never bomb hospitals. Now, the hospitals are Hamas bases. Then, we respect journalists. Now, we have a fucking kill list of journalists because they are Hamas collaborators. First, we are not letting fuel in until the hostages are released. Now, we are not accepting the hostages back because that would stop our ground invasion and let Hamas win. And I could go on about every single lie they're making up. If you look up "Hamas rape" on google, the first link leads to Times of Israel saying Israel has found no forensic evidence of sexual violence, and only one eyewitness testimony out of 3.5k people attending the rave. If you Google "Hamas beheaded babies" the top links say they have no evidence for the claim besides word of mouth from extremist soldiers. Israeli extremists think about the ugliest goriest scene they can make out in their sick heads, tell that to a international journalist and they run away with it like it's gospel.

And children are being killed in the name of these lies. Thousands are being displaced in images that remind me of the pictures of Tantura 75 years ago, with their hands up so the tanks don't shoot them. Amputees are leaving the hospitals in wheelchairs hours after their surgeries because they are being shot at. Elders who survived the Nakba on 48 are having to walk towards Southern Gaza on foot (imagine walking from one end of your city to the other on foot), displaced again. People are cheering for the haunting images of white phosphorus bombs being dropped over Gaza. Gazan workers who were arrested in the West Bank are being thrust back into the bombings wearing numbered labels.

This is not normal. We are seeing the early stages of the settler colonial genocide of an indigenous population. Native leaders who have visited Gaza say its refugee camps look eerily like reservations. We can stop this. For the first time we are able to see wide scale accounts from the hands of the people suffering the genocide, and Israel is so scared of it they have cut all communications in Gaza.

This is our litmus test. I think we have never seen more clearly, with Palestine, Armenia, Congo and Sudan how colonialism has made our world a rotten place to live in.

The South African apartheid collapsed due to boycotts. We have to do everything in our power to stop Israel's hegemony. Even talking to a group of friends about Palestine changes the status quo. There's no world where we can live peacefully if Israel accomplishes their goals.

Keep yourself updated and share Palestinian voices. Muna El-Kurd said every tweet is like a treasure to them, because their voices are repressed on social media and even on this very app. Make it your action item to share something about the Palestinian plight everyday. Here are some resources:

You can participate in boycotts wherever you are in the world, through BDS guidelines. Don't be overwhelmed by gigantic boycott lists. BDS explicitly targets only a few brands which have bigger impact. You can stop consuming from as many brands as you want, though, and by all means feel free to give a 1 star review to McDonalds, Papa John, Pizza Hut, Burger King and Starbucks. Right now, they are focusing on boycotting the following:

Carrefour, HP, Puma, Sabra, Sodastream, Ahava cosmetics, Israeli fruits and vegetables

Push for a cultural boycott - pressure your favorite artist to speak out on Palestine and cancel any upcoming performances on occupied territory (Lorde cancelled her gig in Israel because of this. It works.)

If you can, participate in direct action or donate.

Palestine Action works to shut down Israeli weapons factories in the UK and USA, and have successfully shut down one of their firms in London.Some of the activists are going on trial and are calling for mobilizing on court.

Palestinian Youth Movement is organizing direct actions to stop the shipping of wars to Israel. Follow them.

Educate yourself. Read into Palestinian history and the occupation. You can't common sense people out of decades of propaganda. If your arguments crumble when a zionist brings up the "disengagement of Gaza", you have to learn more.

Read Decolonize Palestine. They have 15 minute reads that concisely explain the occupation (and its colonial roots) and debunk popular myths, including pinkwashing.

Read on Palestine. Here's an amazing masterpost.

Verso Book Club is giving out free books on Palestine (I personally downloaded Ten Myths about Israel by Ilan Pappe. If you still believe in the two states solution, this book by an Israeli professor debunks it).

Call your representatives. The Labour Party in the UK had an emergency meeting after several councilors threatened to resign if they didn't condemn Israeli war crimes. Calling to show your complaints works, even more if you live in a country that funds genocide.

Forcibly outing trans students or gay students in schools is not just an invasion of privacy but just damn irresponsible. I commend this Californian school for suing its district over this outrageous policy, I really hope they win the case.

Forcibly outing trans youth to their parents, could put these kids in serious danger. From violence towards these kids, to them being thrown out on the streets. It's such a hateful policy. Should't have even been proposed

“Three Boys, One a 14-year-old Burglar, Given Reformatory Sentences by Magistrate Garvin,” Kingston Whig-Standard. July 7, 1942. Page 3 & 11. ---- Three boys, one of juvenile age, were sentenced to terms in the Ontario Reformatory at Guelph when they appeared in city police court this morning, one a lone burglar aged 14 years and three months who pleaded guilty to entering homes at night and robbing people asleep in bedrooms.

Albert G. Smith Jr., the lone prowler of the night, just a boy of public school age and looks, did not flinch or show the slightest signs of emotion as Magistrate J. B. Garvin read nine charges of breaking, entering and theft, six of them committed while he was on suspended sentence for two years from juvenile court on June 20. He was sentenced to six months in the reformatory, one month for each offence committed since his last appearance in juvenile court, while suspended sentence was extended on the other charges.

William Clark, aged about 18, was sentenced to 20 months and 18 months in the reformatory, to run concurrently, for theft of a car and breaking and entering Downey's Service Station, Division Street, and Joseph Duggie, aged about 18, was sentenced to 12 months in the reformatory for theft of a car. Magistrate Puzzled Magistrate Garvin admitted he was puzzled about the sentence in Smith's case. He said it would be useless to send the young prisoner to Bowmanville, which he said was now only a clearing house where boys are distributed to foster homes.

The magistrate said a good industrial school would be the solution but there was none in the district, and as the boy did not show any respect for court orders or obey his parents, there was no alternative but to lock him up in the reformatory.

Young Smith admitted guilt on six charges, most of them on the same night. He admitted entering and robbing Ward and Hamilton's store at Earl and Alfred streets, the residences of Mrs. Vietta Pound, 154 Albert Street; Dr. H. Cooke, 152 L. Albert Street, Leslie Smith on Earl Street, Dr. F. W. Atack, 35 Centre Street, and Mrs. E. Thompson on Macdonnell Street.

He admitted taking a pocket-book from a table in the room where Mr. Smith was sleeping and said he struck a match in the room to see his way around. "Were you not afraid of waking the people?" the magistrate asked, and the young prisoner just mumbled a "No, sir."

The father of young Smith said he and the mother of the boy had done everything to correct him. and keep him straight. On the night when most of the break-ins were committed the mother refused to let the boy out and even took all his clothes and punished him, but the boy got some old clothes and sneaked out of the house.

Clothes Caused Arrest The old clothes caused his arrest as Howard Sears and Everett Luker, two new additions to the police force, became suspicious when they saw the boy walking near University Avenue and Princess Street early last Sunday morning.

The police constables questioned Smith and he first gave a false name, according to evidence given by Constable Luker. He also gave a wrong story about where he was living and when further questioned admitted he slept in the George Richardson Memorial Stadium. Further questioning extracted part of the strange story of juvenile crime how the boy, reprimanded. by his mother, went on a prow! during the night and committed the crimes.

700 Palestinians were killed in the last 24 hours and the airstrikes are more violent each night. Gaza's hospitals have fuel left for two more days. Israel only allowed aid into Gaza on the condition they didn't carry fuel. The Indonesian hospital has shut down already, because doctors have no supplies and no choice but to let the wounded die. They're calling it a collapse but the term doesn't do it justice.

Over a 100 incubator babies are at risk. There are 50.000 pregnant women in Gaza right now, and 5.500 due to give birth this month. Menstruating people are taking pills in order to stop their periods, because they do not have pads or water to maintain hygiene. Surgeons are operating without anesthesia. Water is not reaching Gazans because there's no electricity or fuel for water pumps.

There's no excuse for this. Israel justifies the airstrikes by saying they want to destroy Hamas infrastructure and release the hostages, but they have refused to negotiate for their release. Hamas informed Israel they wanted to release two elderly women without anything in return, and Israel refused. Netanyahu said they wouldn't take their own civilians back because it was "mendacious propaganda." When the hostages were finally released, Netanyahu prohibited the hospital from giving press releases. Yocheved Lifshitz went behind their backs and talked to the press anyway, saying she was treated very well by Hamas, but the government abandoned them. They're being used as straw men. Israel is conditioning the entry of fuel to the release of hostages and yet, according to The Wall Street Journal, when Hamas proposed to exchange 50 hostages for fuel they denied. IDF officials have said they fear the release of more hostages because that might withhold the order to their ground invasion. They do not care as long as they can use the hostages as a pretext for their slaughtering.

There's a turning tide for Palestine in public support. Support for Israel was built through decades of propaganda and we are making a dent into it. Zionists are desperate, holding zoom meetings to promote zionism, but we have to do so much more. We have to shame people in power into supporting the Palestinian cause.
