Okay so yesterday me and @nickyroethemarinebiologist came up with the best Ghostbusters AU ever
Okay so
Basically everything is the same as normal probably post-Frozen Empire until Ebenezer Scrooge, Javert, and Inspector Goole from An Inspector Calls are all somehow just fucking teleported into the GB universe and one of them (probably Scrooge ngl) almost gets hit by a car and then later they're all Ghostbusters
Because Scrooge has ghost experience (he'd call them all 'spirits' in the most dramatic old man British accent imaginable), Javert is an inspector which is basically the same thing as a Ghostbuster but with alive people, and Inspector Goole is both an inspector and may BE a ghost we don't even know (it's just never addressed lmfao)
Basically in short:
A load of old men from English literature texts become Ghostbusters for no fucking reason. Chaos ensues
(we were a bit delirious after the English lit exam and the convo got very out of hand)
Anyway I'm convinced it's the best crack AU I've ever come up with so enjoy everyone do what you will with this lmfaoooo

Look, I know it's very much not going to happen, but I would really love one more Endeavour-style Morse episode, and I want it to be 'An Inspector Calls' themed. Like, we got the Gatsby episode, and loads of vaguely Agatha Christie themed episodes. I want 'An Inspector Calls' one!
I just want graying, grumpy, newly-promoted Inspector Morse shouting at entitled rich people about their responsibility to take care of other human beings.
(I will take Shaun Evans playing the Inspector in An Inspector Calls in his Scouse accent as a compromise).

ngl I don’t think the books we read in English lit were very interesting or impactful.
Macbeth? Spent the entire time thinking about how I originally wrote McBeth and was gobsmacked that I was wrong. A Christmas Carol? Charles Dickens can suck my dick. Fred is the foil, next. The Hunger Games? Just read it, we weren’t studying it at all. To Kill A Mockingbird? We stopped reading it halfway through bc our Canadian teacher realised that eleven year old kids were dying of boredom and so swapped to thg. The Great Gatsby? Beautifully put together, awful to read. Animal Farm? Okay so governments can’t be trusted and they had dumb names. Boring. Power and Conflict Poetry? Hit or miss. Philip Larkin poetry? Total bummer, bit of a whore.
An Inspector Calls? Flawless. Impactful. Men are awful. The rich are terrible. Responsibility is important. David Thewlis is, surprisingly to me, fuckable. Ghosts may be real. My sins will haunt me forever. It changed me as a person. I still think about it all the time. All the time. Seriously. Inspector Goole is a manifestation of my guilt.
I try to enjoy my blorbos and then I remember that Inspector Goole would drag them (as they deserve) and they simply. would. not. care.
In other words, I’m having a terrible time today.
