Publishing has always been a fucking nightmare, but now it’s a layer of hell. It’s not enough that writers be good at what they do. Writers have to maintain an active social media presence and cultivate a following. Be available.
They have to be conventionally attractive enough to look good enough to see on a screen, aesthetically pleasing, kind, funny, up-to-date on trends, socially aware but not so controversial that they turn off a brand from California from slapping their discount code on a video promoting a book.
They have to do all of this with no media training, with little help from the companies that are supposed to be doing this for them.
Of course, a lot of this isn't possible for say, the 40-something mother of two who teaches English at a school and writes on the side. She’s boxed out of an already complex industry that already has enough walls.
On some level, I think authors have always marketed themselves a little, but we’ve reached such a crazy point where we’re demanding the author become the influencer. Accessibility in publishing has narrowed from an inch to a sliver. And that inch was hard enough to get in as is.

The Stormlight archive’s position on deity is “if you squint hard enough everything wrong with society is in some way god’s fault”
Mistborn era 1’s position on deity is “god and god’s edgy lover are both stupid and dying and a personal relationship to faith is way more valuable than whatever an actual higher power could ever give you”
Mistborn era 2’s position on deity is “religious freedom is cool also god is a stupid fucking asshole whose divine attribute is “upholding the status quo” so he didn’t realize all of the people in power were worshipping the same pyramid scheme cult”
Warbreaker’s position on deity is “if god did exist then she’d turn faith into a capitalist nightmare where people sell their souls for the precognition industrial complex because she’s too obsessed with making people look cool to make the world into an actual nice place”
Elantris’s position on deity is “whatever the fuck the Elantrians are doing with their post-scarcity socialist utopia is way cooler than what would be happening if either of their gods were alive, also god is a pyramid scheme made to enforce imperialism” (dubious)
White sand’s position on deity is “the coolest thing god ever did was make someone too cool for god’s bullshit” and “I don’t know I’ve never read white sand”
IN SUMMARY:
The Cosmere’s position on deity is:
God is best when ripped apart violently and divided among the people, if god was one guy that guy would suck and would have a lot of blood on their hands
Shatter all shards 2023

Another Thai actor, Turbo Chanokchon Boonmanawong (along with his brother Fourwheels Chayanond) has come forward on his instagram with a statement alluding to potential mismanagement by his former agency. You might know Turbo from Nitiman and Love Stage!! where he was paired up with Kaownah Kittipat. The brothers have since joined a new agency, so Turbo's statement is likely due to him wanting a fresh start and officially breaking ties with his old company.
Tumblr media
Hello, I'm Turbo. Please allow me to clarify the following. The main reason for leaving the previous agency was that there was almost no work available. Sometimes, there was only one job per month, and I was not allowed to take on other work. As a result, I did not have enough income to live on. After we parted ways, the previous agency frequently posted about us on social media, sometimes using harsh language and mentioning people around us, which led to misunderstandings and damaged our reputation. We also learned that for some jobs we had completed, the original agency claimed there was no compensation, but later we found out that the employer had already paid. This situation arose probably due to Bo's negligence, trusting verbal promises without any written contract. Please consider this matter closed. From now on, Turbo and Fourwheels will have no involvement with the original agency. Any further issues will be handled by the camp, and Bo will not post anything else about this. Bo will continue to work hard. Thank you, everyone, for your support and trust. Please continue to follow the work of Turbo and Fourwheels in the future. Thank you all for listening and understanding.
(*I've had this auto-translated but checked it against other fan translations so it should be fairly accurate.)
Sadly, I don't know what company he used to be with but apparently he didn't even have a proper written contract. He wasn't given enough work while at the same time he was forbidden from taking other jobs to supplement his income. He also mentions not being paid. And after he left, the company then actively badmouthed him while still using his name. Just lovely.
I really hope their new company treats them better and gives them proper work because they're both cuties and (from what I can tell from their ig) extremely hard-working.
Another Thai BL actor (was it Perth Nakhun?) recently said that actors do read their contracts before signing but here that's obviously not the case. The blame still lies with the company because this is blatant exploitation and mismanagement of (often inexperienced) artists. Any professional talent agency wouldn't have oral contracts in the first place.

“Physical 100” is such a crazy concept to me because if you were to make an American equivalent to the show, you could end up with an episode where NBA’s Steph Curry gets into a wrestling match with NFL’s Brock Purdy. Or the YouTuber “Yoga with Adrienne” wrestling with WWE’s Becky Lynch.

Total Drama Future AU design number 8!
Alejandro is 39 in this AU.
After All Stars, he took some time to improve his mental health and rekindle his relationship with Cody. Little did he know that Cody had been hopelessly pining for him, and he couldn't deny that he liked that funny little guy as well.
After 1 year and 3 months of dating, Cody proposed to him at the Café they had both grown to love.
It was nice to have someone who loved and appreciated him for more than his body.
With the help of Alejandro's mother, they had a lovely wedding and invited both the Gen 1 and 2 casts as guests (Minus Chris and Chef).
For their honeymoon, they went around the world and revisited all the destinations from World Tour. (Minus the island from the finale).
On December 26th, 2013, at 4:49am, they welcomed Axel Burromuerto-Anderson into their lives.
Alejandro runs his own Pub in Toronto, he's very fond of his work.
Alejandro never thought this is where he would end up in life, but he's quite pleased he got this far.

it is kinda funny to me when ppl say things in the vein of “jazz is perfect to represent rouge because of it’s chaotic nature”, cause like sure, okay, i can understand why you’d say that, but that’s the kinda thing you say when you have not listened to any jazz at all.
jazz can seem chaotic, sure, but it seems odd to me to define the whole umbrella of jazz as chaotic when you absolutely have not listened to actually chaotic sounding jazz subgenres like bebop. i just generally extremely dislike the descriptor of “chaotic” for jazz because i think it’s fundamentally untrue, there is absolutely logic and order in jazz, it’s built upon a rich tradition. jazz can be complex, frantic, energetic, and is often improvisational, but i don’t think it’s chaotic.
also i think that suits rouge far better than actual chaos, cause rouge is absolutely a complex and logical person, she just acts first and foremost on her desires

Sorry guys, rant incoming. I considered deleting this but I put too much effort in.
"girlboss" "girl dinner" "girl math" "boy math" "gen z are making fun of us for wearing x" "here's how to dress like gen z:" "girlies" "girl's night" "boy's night" "me and the boys" "90s kid"
"I don't feel like an adult" "I'm 34 and I can tell you, I still don't feel like an adult either." "My parents seemed like real adults when they were my age." "I still feel like a teenager."
Maybe you'd feel more like an adult if you started calling yourself one. Maybe you'd feel more like an adult if you stopped trying to dress like a teenager. Maybe you should move your bed out from the wall and get a wallet. Maybe find a calendar app that works for you.
You are an adult. Even if you live with your parents. Even if you do part-time shift work at minimum wage. Even if you haven't graduated college. Even if you are single. These are adult things to do. Because you are doing them. And you are an adult. Start treating yourself like an adult. Fake it 'till you make it if you have to.
In other, writing-related, news:
That trend on TikTok of 20-40 something women authors (and writers yet to be published) promoting their books like,
"Omg! I can't believe I've sold X number of copies!! I never thought I would!" "Ahhhh imagine publishing your book and all your dreams come true and now you get to meet famous authors and work with big names in the industry!!" "Would you read a book where [proceeds to list a bunch of oversaturated tropes that tell me nothing about the actual plot]?"
It reeks of infantilization. If you didn't believe anyone would want to read your book, why should I? You made it on the NYT bestseller list! Stop acting like a mega-fan who got to meet a celebrity. You are their peer! "Would you read a book--" What if I wouldn't? Why does it matter to you what I think of your book? And for the love of god stop hiding behind tropes you know are already popular. "Here is my book: This is what it is about." Have some goddamn confidence.
It is fine to mention in passing "this idea was really far-fetched so I didn't know if it would appeal" or "I was struggling with self-esteem when I wrote this". It's fine to fan a little bit. It's fine to discuss the tropes in your book. But why are you building your brand as an author off of your inferiority complex? You are using your poor self-esteem as a marketing tactic to seem "humble" and "relatable" but it's coming across as unprofessional and desperate for reassurance. You are an adult. You are competent. The more you act like it the more you will believe it.
And of course, I haven't seen a man promote his book this way...
On another note, do any of the 20-40 something women writers who do "write with me" videos on TikTok actually enjoy writing or are they just doing it for the aesthetic?
They all have gorgeous minimalism writing spaces full of white and pink and a macbook beneath a window. Their makeup is done and they are conventionally pretty to start with. But their entire video is just them talking about how little progress they made, how many pages they deleted, how often they got distracted, how frustrated they are. And like, yeah. We all have those days. But what about the good lines you can't wait to share? The days when the words just flow? The cool stuff you learned while researching? Why don't you ever make videos about that?
Is this some other attempt to seem "relatable" by only talking about the "bad" side of writing? Because again, it's coming across as lacking confidence at best and, at worst, that you don't actually know how to write. And that is not the brand you want as an author.
Again, its always women. Why must women market their self-esteem issues in order to sell their art? Why must we be perpetually awestruck children (girlies, book girls) in over our heads?

I stopped using regular skincare and started washing my face with the turmeric tea tree bar soap from this shop (which is indigenous owned btw) and my skin is now clearer than it has been in years, and not dry either even though I’ve stopped using a moisturizer too. They also sell a Have a Nice Face Bar specifically formulated for your face that I’ve used too but the tea tree tumeric one makes my whole body so so soft and I like the simplicity of using just one product, plus tumeric is a great anti inflammatory and anti bacterial and gives my skin a pleasant sensation.
