Yes! I try to. I fall behind very frequently but I always try to say thank you. So many people tell me why these stories touch them, and to share that with me, is such a gift that deserves acknowledgement.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably 'The Hope of Fen'Harel' (on AO3) or the scene where Solas finds out that young Ixchel is dead (here on tumblr).

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

the road seems too wild for mixing it with blues (Dragon Age) - literally it is a Solavellan happiest of happy endings. There are brown butter donuts.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Yes. Not infrequently.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Sometimes! I do try to write titillating smut but if it's in my longfics, it's got to be for character reasons and serve the plot. But I have more than one smut oneshot that's just there to get people hot lol.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

No.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I have had ideas copied wholecloth.

Not that I know of, but you are free to do so as long as you tag me and properly credit via the "inspired by" on AO3

Yes! ALL of my Maximum Ride fics were co-written. Literally sending passages back and forth over *yahoo instant messenger.* It was an absolute fucking joy. Those fics are gone now though lol.

Prooooooobablyyyyyyy Haku/Chihiro. I will read absolute drivel if it's got them in it.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I WILL ABSOLUTELY FINISH MY BOTW FICS I AM WORKING ON THEM OKAY?! The one i don't think i will ever do is my young!Ixchel fic. It's too fucking sad. But it lives in my head and calls to me.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dreamy prose, evocative horror, and really motivated plots.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I'm verbose, I have a hard time connecting scenes / passing time without it feeling like it's dragging.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

So, for fantasy languages that you have to conlang -- I think you should just write it in English. Especially if you're not making up YOUR OWN conlang and instead relying on the work of a notorious jackass. I have taken to "[[brackets and italics]]" to indicate when dialogue is happening in Elvhen. In real life languages, such as Spanish, the current movement in ownvoices communities is to include the dialogue in its original tongue, with no italics. Readers are smart. They can look it up. And they need to get used to languages other than their own without it seeming other, alien, or magical. In my original novels, where Spanish is often used, I stick with this rule.

🚨 A harasser calling the Police on a trans artist over Warhammer 40k BDSM porn art and genshin impact 🚨

The harasser seems to be on Tumblr as well so be careful. Situation is very new and currently still ongoing and people is talking about this

TW and CW for the contents below:

Okay so someone on Twitter is harassing, stalking and doxxing, making false bigotry accusations and calling the cops on an artist over Warhammer 40k art and stuff about genshin impact that person seems to be very upset that the artist is drawing bdsm porn gore Warhammer 40k and they don't like art about Childe x Xiao?...

And they don't like art about Childe getting fucked by the tentacle monster or tortured or shipped with "the wrong person and not their fave"

This is the harasser Twitter account and Tumblr sock puppet account btw. I have no idea if the harasser might have a main Tumblr blog but could be hence why I'm posting this here because the harasser can be anywhere on Tumblr especially on Genshin

Edit: *sighing roll my eyes. Of course it's the people like this always. I had to update the tag now to include pro vs antis stuff... lord...*

As you can see the harasser is making these unhinged accusations about the artist and calling them racist slave owner Nazi (yeah probably the harasser is one of those people who believes that if you like Warhammer 40k then you are a Nazi)

I haven't seen any evidence of the artist doxxing a poc so far while the harasser literally calling the cops on other people over shipping and fan art

MissingOldRose has been harassing the artist for MONTHS both on Tumblr and Twitter, made concerning and threatening comments about the artist pets and also countless false accusations.

Also you noticed that the harasser is HARASSING THE ARTIST SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY FELL SQUICK?! WHY DID YOU SWAT/CALLING COPS ON SOMEONE JUST BECAUSE YOU FELL SQUICKENED OVER FREAKING GENSHIN IMPACT AND WARHAMMER 40K FAN ART?!

Also accused an SA survivor (the artist) as a rapist over personal vent and fan art. I can't do it anymore with modern fandom. Especially with the fact that cops was called to arrest a TRANS PERSON over fan art. LGBTQA+ people are often the target of police brutality and unfair treatment both from the legal system and that's happening in the western world that supposed to be progressive countries.

Yeah fyi for some people who wanting to call the cops or swatting other people over ship/art/ stupid ass shipping discourse, as quoted:

"Anyone has free artistic expression and they (the cops) don't find anything wrong at all with my art"

If you possessing and distributing CSEM yeah you can go to jail. BUT YOU ACTUALLY CAN'T REPORT SOMEONE OVER THE ART OF CHILDE GETTING HIS ASS RAMMED BY TENTACLES OR 40k ART.

Thats a false report and you won't go to jail over Genshin Impact shipping and art.

If you know MissingOldRose on Tumblr and Twitter or you know if they have main Tumblr account please be careful. @abusiveartistsfuckoff account as listed above is used for harassing and stalking on people Tumblr. Even if this situation doesn't impact you directly. What if that person (especially if you are on Genshin Impact fandom) doesn't like your ship or you art then threaten to do the same to you?

Also have some compassion for the artist please

Sorry for tagging this with genshin, doesn't mean to polluted the fandom but it's just an awareness since the harasser is on Tumblr and also a part of the Genshin community. It's really sucks because the game itself is really fun but by god some people in the Genshin fandom often went too far...

The amount of hate YQY receives from the general SV fandom is hugely disproportionate to the things he did in canon and one doesn't need to look further than this blog itself. Because ever since this blog appeared, the Yue Qingyuan character tag has been overrun by hate posts.

And this hate is not a new phenomenon either, ever since the early days of SV fandom, he has been a very despised character. Worst of all: Most of the claims he gets hate for don't align with canon either! YQY's worst crime is to enable LBH's abuse but somehow a good chunk of the gen SV fandom will claim he's an oathbreaker, a cheater, an incel and a controling creep.

Which breaks my heart because in the novel he's loyal to a fault, he respects SQQ's boundaries, and the only times he initiates physical contact is when he checks the others health, which never go beyond checking his spiritual veins. Hell, he even lets go SQQ to leave with LBH, after the latter almost destroyed the world they knew! Just so SQQ can become happy.

Yet he receives such an inappropiate amount of hate, that extends so far, the SV fandom as a whole feels very hostile to YQY.

This isn't something I'm making up either, having talked to many other YQY enjoyers, everyone had the same sentiment of being alienated by the fandom and just tired of the constant hate he receives. And if it'd just stop at hate, then it might be manageable, but there seems to be a constant need to humiliate and make fun of him. The times I've seen either SQQ parade with his new boyfriend and how much superior he is to YQY is too many to count. And more often than not he is relegated to a past/current abuser or whatever antagonist the story needs at the moment, despite characters like QJL and HHPM existing. There also have been several times where I engaged with a SV fan to talk about the novel, just to receive unprompted YQY hate out of nowhere.

Of course I don't mean to say he hasn't dont anything wrong; his biggest crime (we know of) is enabling LBH's abuse (and in extension many other disciples) and you're free to dislike any character.

But to act like other characters acted better than him, especially in treatment towards SJ, is ridiculous. (eg. LBH tortured him, LQG went with a group of ppl to harass him at the brothels, QJL)

And for all the proud claims the SV fandom likes to spout of being """#drama free""", it's blatantly untrue and I wish they'd acknowledge this.

So, to the blog runner(s): I suggest tagging character hate with "anti [character acronym]", as most people search using the characters written out name's tag to look for fanworks. To specify who you can also add the novels name (written out or not), since some acronyms might repeat. [eg. "anti SV YQY" or "anti Scum Villain YQY"] This might be the best compromise you can do while allowing anti [smth] confessions.

On that note I also suggest tagging "anti [shi.pname]" for anti ship confessions, because I've seen quite a number of those post just having the hated ship tagged directly. The "." is to avoid the posts appearing on the ships native tags on tumblr.

And To the people who'll claim to "simply block the blog / filter the tag": I'm aware such systems exist, but it's not reasonable to need to block a tag or several blogs to just not be overrun by hateposts immediately. Also it's deeply unpleasant to see the wall of hate the first time already, before you had any chances to block or filter. Especially when in this case the hate is overwhelming the tag to a ridiculous degree.

Even then, the chances of meeting any random (unwarned/untagged) YQY hate is staggering high, to the point most of us just distance ourselves from the fandom or straight up leave. So I ask you to behave yourself and make the fandom a slightly better space for us to stay.

3 Ships You Like: in a kim dojka & yoo sangah platonic life partners phase rn. god. they would get married but not because they particularly care about marriage, just to bypass the hoops the government makes single people jump through in order to adopt kids, but kim dokja would seriously hesitate for the sole reason that him marrying yoo sangah would make all three of his parents very happy in a way that he would find incredibly annoying.

ok i'm doing another platonic one: moon & ember! i have read the few existing moon & ember fics so many times i can no longer separate them from canon. their dynamic is everything 2 me. bodyguard & anger translator. damaged hottie with trust issues & naive little pretty boy who just wants to go home. moon sees ember as not just a romantic rival but also a threat to his place in the colony, and of course being moon, his reaction to that is not to challenge ember but just to assume that he's been replaced and that he has to start over again alone. ember is everything that moon is not, everything he's convinced he's supposed to be, but ACTUALLY they're both perfect the way they are and there's room enough in this court for the both of them. they are so powerful when they combine their complementary skillsets for the good of the colony. plus i love that every time he interacts with anyone moon is probably thinking, "ugh, i bet EMBER wouldn't be fucking this up"…but also he's defending ember when stone makes fun of him and offering to challenge the reigning queen on ember's behalf! he's protective of ember even as ember embodies everything that makes him insecure. meanwhile ember thinks moon is the coolest person to ever exist and also. extremely cringe. probably 25% of his pillow talk is him subtly trying to convince pearl that moon is just a little birthday boy who should be allowed to be a hugely oversensitive weirdo, as a treat.

people have been rbing some of my cherry magic posts recently so i've been thinking about kurodachi again. i miss them! they're so well matched, so complementary in the ways that they need to grow, and it's lovely to watch them help each other do that. the way that adachi is inspired to make an effort by kurosawa's continuous striving for things he thinks he'll never get, and the way that adachi's apathy for perfection frees kurosawa from his need to be worthy…like ok fine whatever i am listening!!!

First Ship Ever: i have been sitting here trying to think of an earlier ship so i can avoid embarrassing myself, but if i'm honest it's probably ron/hermione. moving right along.

Last Song You Heard: one week by barenaked ladies! what a banger.

Favorite Childhood Book: when i was a kid i had meticulously curated my top ten favorite books, but now i can only remember half of them: island of the blue dolphins, the witch of blackbird pond, ella enchanted, walk two moons, and mrs. frisby and the rats of nimh. can you tell i had one of those bookmarks that listed all the newberry award winners and was working my way through it? lol.

Currently Reading: i just finished my reread of maskerade, the discworld book about the opera, which i had put on hold after reading le fantôme de l'opéra. it wasn't one of my fave discworlds as a teen but i think i'm now in the right headspace for it. enjoyed it quite a bit!

i'm near the end of both the traitor baru cormorant by seth dickinson and par amour by valérie tong cuong. the latter is about a family in le havre during wwii and is very hard to put down. i have honestly no idea what will happen in the remaining two chapters except the nazis are going to lose the war. the traitor baru cormorant is well done, but i don't think i like it enough to read the sequel. (i still am pathologically unable to stop a book that i've started, but i've just discovered that i am capable of stopping after book 1 of a series. life hack!!)

Currently watching: natsume season 4 dub! i just watched the moon-splitting festival arc and the baby nanase episode yesterday. next up is the one about natsume's picture of his parents which. like. let's just say i am marshaling my emotional forces for that one.

also it is about to be march madness! selection sunday tomorrow babey!!!

Currently consuming: the great thing (sarcastic) about living alone is that you spend four hours making this quinoa black bean dish and then have to somehow eat all of it before it goes bad. luckily my neighbor and i have been doing this cute thing for the last ~6 months where we share whatever food we make with each other. this has been working out extremely well for me, because when he cooks i get to eat without having to do anything whatsoever, and when i cook i don't have to worry as much about quantity. i feel like i tricked him into it somehow even though he is getting exactly the same thing out of it as i am.

Currently craving: a baked good i made for the first time recently and then made again two times in rapid succession because i (and my neighbor lol) liked it so much: gingies! okay technically the recipe calls them gingerbread cookie bars, and i just looked up "gingies" (to make sure it's not an offensive term for redheads that i don't know about) and apparently it's frequently used for gingersnaps, but MY use of "gingies" is right and correct and all these other people are idiots. the reason is that they're basically brownies (texture/structure/technique-wise) but with the gingerbread flavor profile instead of chocolate. and "gingeries" sounds stupid, so gingies it is!

Ask Game

A big thank you to @sleepstxtic for the tag! <3 I woke up way too early so now I have something to do :)

Three Ships: This is hopefully the only pretentious thing I'll say about my writing: I'm a writer, not a shipper. I write everything I'll find a story for and read everything that sounds interesting. Let's pick three at random: Spock/McCoy (because it's a classic), Aryna/Iga (because I love that WiP on AO3) and Novandy (because that's probably the closest I've come to shipping)

First Ever Ship: So I'm not quite sure but I think it may have been Colbert/Stewart in the Fake News fandom. Or Thiel/Boerne in the German Tatort fandom. Or Kirk/Spock. My memory is terrible, but those were among the first.

Last Song: I listened to a live album by the 3 biggest German chansonniers/songwriters. Wader/Wecker/Mey - Das Konzert. The last song on that is Wer weiß, a translation of Auld Lang Syne.

Last Film: I rarely watch films, these days. I think it may have been the latest Tatort episode with Thiel and Boerne (it's a German crime/detective series, but each episode is a 90 minute made for TV film) and before that I can't remember. Everything everywhere all at once is on my watch list though.

Currently Reading: I probably gave that answer months ago, but I'm still very slowly reading Die Blendung by Elias Canetti. It's a fascinating book about a very peculiar scholar and about books, but it's introspective and sometimes philosophical and best read in small doses in my opinion. I have read other stuff in between, of course, e.g. i reread The Hounds of the Morrigan by Pat O'Shea which I loved as a teenager, but Die Blendung is probably the most interesting one (English title: Auto da Fé).

Currently Consuming: Nothing, though I'll make tea soon. It's early.

Currently Craving: Some sunshine.

1. How many works do you have on A03?

25 currently. Technically, I have 26, including what I wrote for the Ace Attorney Holiday Exchange, but that won't be added to my profile until after creator reveals.

2. What's your total A03 word count?

103,031

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Pretty much exclusively Ace Attorney. I have one Hades Game fic and one DGS one (which AO3 technically classes as a different fandom than AA).

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

Of course, the only two smut fics I've written are both in here 😂.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes, however, most of the time I'm very slow at getting around to it. I try to match the same amount of time and effort the commenter made when responding, but I sometimes get anxious and overthink my response, which delays me getting to it. I'm working on responding to everyone I haven't yet, and then hopefully will keep up with it from there. Regardless of how long it takes me to respond, please know that I read and treasure every comment. It makes my day when I get that email! 🥰

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

This is a very hard question lol. I'm predominately an angst writer, so I've written some pretty angsty endings. It's hard to think of which one is the most when I feel like a lot are fairly equal. If I had to pick one, then probably The Time Loop Ritual. The ending stands on its own as very angsty, but I've been told the epilogue/sequel fic, All That Remains, has made people even sadder.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

This is hard as well. I've also written plenty of happy endings, and not sure if one stands out happier than the rest. I think I'll go with He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not that I've seen. The closest was something that could be interpreted as a backhanded compliment, as well as a comment that pointed out a flaw in my writing for one of my early fics (which I was already well aware of). But both those comments also contained praise.

9. Do you write smut?

I've only written two smut fics, but I do have some WIPs I hope to finish someday. I want to write more so I can become comfortable with it, but writing it sort of intimidates me TBH. Most of my ideas don't involve smut, so there hasn't really been a need to. But I also know I'd probably come up with a lot more smut related ideas if I wrote it more and became more comfortable writing it.

10. Do you write crossovers?

I haven't and don't know if I ever will. I've tried to brainstorm a Hades Game Thanzag and Narumitsu one before. I came up with some vague ideas for that, but don't know if I will ever go further with it.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not that I know of, but if anyone ever wanted to translate one of my works, you are free to do so!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes! @aeronwolfao3 and I wrote Coffee and Chrysanthemums! It's currently unfinished, but we will continue to work on it one day.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

NaruMitsu/MitsuNaru, of course ❤️💙❤️.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Well, I have a list of 50+ fic WIPs that are in various stages of progress (from a vague several sentence idea, all the way to mostly having a first draft done). That huge, ever-growing list is also why I've been putting off my response to the WIP tag game from a few months ago lol. I also get new ideas fairly often, and I prioritize my writing based on any events and exchanges with deadlines (which I participate in regularly, and also give me new ideas each time). That's all to say that as much as I'd like to get to every idea on that list, I most likely won't. I don't have a specific WIP to mention here, though.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Angsty emotions, especially those resulting from grief, loss, and tragedy. Dialogue. Emotional inner monologue. Creating small little sentimental moments between characters that one of the characters can recall.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Super fluffy content, especially with very little/an absence of plot or conflict. Character and setting description. Writing body language without sounding repetitive or awkward. I've still done all of this decently enough, but it's harder for me and comes less naturally. And I don't utilize description nearly enough.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Maybe someday I'll include some German dialogue for Miles or Franziska or someone else who it would fit for. But I probably will have someone fluent look it over first.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Ace Attorney! While it wasn't my first posted fic, one of the fics I first worked on originated as a script for a comic back in May 2021. It was through the encouragement of some people in the fandom that I started writing and adapted that script and comic idea into a fic: Keeping Up Appearances. My first actual posted fic (not including my co-written fic which first chapter was published two days earlier) was Never Meet Your Idol, a drabble written for a prompt on Discord.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Another hard question. If I answered this last year, this would probably be much easier to answer, but now I've written so much more that I'm happy with.

I'm gonna put two, since one of the ones I really like is still unfinished, and part of my joy is because I know the full extent of it (which the readers don't have that benefit). The one I'm talking about is my 1-2 canon-divergence fic, A Demon’s Justice. There are two chapters out so far that I'm both mostly content with, and five planned chapters still to go. I first thought of the idea almost a year ago now, though I didn't start actually writing it since the summer. It's grown a lot since I first envisioned it, and will probably be close to 30K by the time it's finished. While I won't know how I feel in total until I can read the whole finished version, I am excited to write more and for what I have planned.

For finished, this one is much harder, and I feel like my answer fluctuates. For now, I'll go with The Lies We Tell As Our Secrets Are Held. The idea came to me in the shower when I was brainstorming fic ideas for NaruMitsu week this year. The storytelling style is a bit different than other stuff I've written. I think it achieved the feeling I was trying to capture, and I'm happy with a lot of my descriptions.

9 Fandom Peeps to Get to Know Better

tagged by @endless-season /havent't been tagged since forever, it's time to write a wall of hardly comprehencible text, let's gooo!/

3 ships you like: I still love soukoku (BSD) and dabihawks (BNHA), and my most recent fav ship is frimmel (Sousou no Frieren). It's impossible not to love them! \(-o-)/

first ship ever: I don't remember. But the first ship I was really invested in was Mukuro/Byakuran (KHR). I still think of them sometimes. ^///^

last song you heard: I've had my computer upgraded recently, so I had copied all my files on the new hard drive. I've found so many music after I examined my belongings. XD So it must be one of those songs I guess. It's very likely that it was Rise Again by Ronski Speed feat. Lucy Saunders, it's one of my favourites once again lately. I had to dig up my playlist on vk to find its proper name btw. XD

favourite childhood book: Nine Princes in Amber by Roger Zelazny, I almost knew it by heart. Well, technically it's a teenage favourite book, but I don't think I remember childhood books now. =/ They didnt have as much impact on me as this one.

currently reading: nothing, my work consumes too much time and energy, I can't concentrate on books. =/

currently watching: I've finished watching Sousou no Frieren a few days ago, and I am already thinking about rewatching the exam arc. I should have paid more attention to Wirbel. ^///^ Well, maybe rewatching the whole anime wont hurt too. I really loved it!

currently consuming: I've just had a cup of tea moments ago.

currently craving: it's 3 am now. I can't think of anything to crave for at the moment. =/ Well, I'll go with the easiest option and say this: I'm craving for money bcos it gives so many resources and opportunites. I've seen an interesting course on 3d design on an online platform like 15 mins ago, and I am kinda interested. it's rather pricey... And I don't really have much free time... And on top of that, I doubt that I could use this course to earn money. =/ I guess I wont buy it anyway.

The only ships I think that could become canon are: Czech and Slovakia, Germany and Italy, Sweden and Finland, and maybe Austria and Hungary (well they were already kind of canon, p.s. Spaus is a cute ship too!)

With each of these characters there are many ships, but not as big and popular as England, America, Japan, Russia or French (and others) whose ships are among the fandom's most popular.

Then obviously there are more ships for each character, as in every fandom

This leads me to a question, what do you personally believe makes a ship canon?

Because, in my opinion, Slovakia/Czechia is canon. It has been explicitly said and shown that they were married, they have clear chemistry with each other and definitely still act like a bit of a couple. So, even if in current times they're technically divorced, they still act in a pretty couple-coded way that leaves surely room for another interpretation, but it's also solid enough proof that they're into each other.

Same goes for AusHun, although they aren't technically canon nowadays, it's implied they still hang out together, buy each other presents, do each other favors and really enjoy each other's presence. Hungary especially is shown to crush on him as much as she did in the past. So, in a way, they are canon. Just in a loose enough way that allows for other interpretations (ie: exes that left each other on very good terms) without invalidating the fact that they at the very least used to love each other romantically.

Btw!! Spaus is technically canon too although Hima barely ever explores it nowadays, since they have been canonically married for about 200 years. Although Aushun is still a lot more hinted in current times.

I haven't really read all there is out there to be super sure of what I'm about to say, but I'd dare to affirm that Sufin is "loosely canon" too. Especially in old strips they're shown living a pretty domestic couple life, Sweden was confirmed by Hima to have feelings for Finland (although he later deleted that post, and I think this also confirms Hima's decision to not make any ship solid-canon but opt for 'loose canon' instead) and he generally behaves in a pretty lovey-awkward way around Timo. And Finny doesn't really seem to mind..? They even basically adopted Sealand together!

As for Gerita, yeah I think it's not going to ever be confirmed as 100% canon but it's clear as the sun that they have feelings for each other. Especially Germany, I mean, look at him.

As @fireandiceland said in her tags on the other ask, Hima is fundamentally playing with the concept of 'Schrödinger's Ships' where everything is potentially more or less blatantly canon but always ambiguous enough to leave room for other interpretations.

I think that's the best compromise he could find for a fanbase that is so big and so dedicated to so many ships.

Like, as much as Gerita is blatant, for instance, even Itapan has its moments. So, I really think Hima handled and is handling the shipping aspect of his work in the smartest possible way.

I'd dare to say, the only 100% canon ship is Holytalia (because HRE is honest about his feelings and in Buon San Valentino Feli confirms that he indeed loved him back), and it's about a supposedly dead character. I think this confirms that Hima has no intention to make anything a "one-way canon" ship unless its premise already undoes its canonicity by making it a tragic love story.

Of course you're free to think differently, that's just my opinion!! 🙏🌸

What fandoms do you write for? I have written for many different fandoms over the course of my time here on tumblr such as the Supernatural fandom (many still up on tumblr) but currently I write for Assassin's Creed Odyssey and the MJ fandom!

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Absolutely!!! After the initial bit where I'm mushy and gushing over said comment, I try to be a bit more constructive in my response LOL

What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? It's not finished yet (maybe never will be lmao) but 'The Odyssey That Should Have Been' is based off the First Blade DLC so it's got it's fair share of super angst but also humor and romance and joy!

What are your writing weaknesses? Probably descriptions of scenery though I do my best. I also overthink when I'm trying to write a very simple scene and people 'nod' or 'chuckle' and 'look' too much lol

Magnus Bane / Alexander Lightwood

This was my first ship. I wrote my first full novel length fic in this fandom, and I even have a tattoo about it! They will always hold a special place in my heart as the ship that sailed me back into my passion for art and writing.

So um, here's the thing. I'm not in the Reylo fandom. I enjoyed the movies well enough, but didn't have any particular interest in them beyond "oh, that was fun to see in theaters, I enjoyed it."

Many years ago, however, before I was involved in fandom at all, a friend of mine sent me a link to a Reylo fic on AO3 that she was obsessed with. It's the only Reylo fic I've ever read.

Long story short (I'll elaborate in another post sometime if I'm ever asked), it ended my impending marriage and changed the course of my life.

I have no idea what the fic was called or whom it was written by.

One day I should track that author down and thank them. I mean obviously other factors played into it, I'm not completely unhinged (well, debatable), but it was the spark that lit the flame.

So anyway, these two will always be important to me even though I'm not part of their fandom. 🖤

I'm currently obsessing over KimVegas, KimArm, and ArmKimChay. If you notice a common denominator, shhh no you don't. ✨ I just didn't feel right using them in the three because they're all just extensions of my KinnPorsche the Series / KimChay addiction. 😅

first ever ship

I generally consider Malec to be my first ship, as they were the first ship I was active in any fandom community for.

However, they're probably not really my first ship.

I was baited into fandom as an adult by a friend who lured me into watching The Vampire Diaries. I kind of shipped Delena, but assumed they wouldn't end up together because he was the second / bad boy love interest and that's just not how the formula goes.

Little did I know 😌 that universe is far too much of a clusterfuck to care about formulas and industry norms.

Anyway I did write an Elijah/Hailey fic and post it on FFnet when I first started writing again after years of no artistic endeavors whatsoever. It's still there, but I choose to pretend it isn't. Straight smut is not my forte. 😅 And it's... well, you can tell I was a bit rusty. 😂

I tend to gravitate more toward TV shows than movies, so I think the last one I watched might've been over the holidays. It's a pretty great musical--Mrs. Santa Claus gets fed up with being taken for granted, takes the sleigh on a joyride, and gets temporarily stranded in early 1900s New York. While there she protests for women's suffrage, fights for the rights of child workers, helps to reunite a family divided by an ocean, and repeatedly demonstrates the spirit of acab.

Yeah, you heard me. It's socialist acab Mrs. C here to sing dank tunes and fight for your rights.

Highly recommend 10/10.

I'M BAAAAACK!!

I've returned to clear some things up about what I've said here, and what my current plans of moving forward are.

First and foremost, I must apologize for comparing ships and labeling others as "arguably worse". While writing that post, I was solely focused on Blankshipping, and I hadn't fully pushed myself out of my anti phase yet. So for that reason, I say ship any dead dove ship that you want.

Secondly, I've been educating myself more lately on purity culture in fandoms, what caused them to arise, etc., etc., as well as befriending some Blankshippers myself. They're a pretty tolerant group! And it's an opportunity to make friends outside of my usual circle, too.

I've been gradually gaining the courage to publicly speak out against what's going on in this fandom and trying to stop hatred from spreading in some gen servers... at a safe distance, of course.

I've realized that, yes, there is probably not an easy way to stop the anti movement -- and I shouldn't throw myself into a severe crossfire over it. But the least I can do right now is stop namedropping, gossiping, etc. whenever I see it.

I'm completely anti-free now, and I find myself getting annoyed whenever I see people endlessly complaining about artists and writers in servers. Admittedly, it has been happening less now, but there's still trouble here and there.

It's OKAY to not like the ship. What I'm not okay with is when antis go out of their way to publicly show their disgust over an artist, and complain back and forth to each other for hours about how vile they are. I mean... surely, you have something better to do with your time, yeah?

I'm not going to tag this as... y'know, S//mas, seeing as what happened last time in my ask box.

I try to! Honestly, it means so much that people take time out of their day to let me know their thoughts/reactions to my stuff. I love the interaction, and I've shared this story before, but it was @embyrinitalics outreaching to let me know she enjoyed the killing moon (which had been on hiatus for YEARS) that help spring-boarded me into creativity again. A lot of these comments keep me motivated and energized, so I want to let people know I pay attention and care.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

LOL this is hard. Angst is my jam.

I'm tempted to say the Killing Moon but probably almost beautiful? It's the death memory from botw and it's a oneshot without any resolution whatsoever.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

This is a tie between begin again and desire path.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I've gotten some coldish comments, but not direct hate. I don't understand it. If you don't like something, just move on by? It's free content. It literally takes so much more of your previous energy to generate hate. Put it somewhere else. Find something else you actually like and pour love into that. Or as my kid's favorite book right bow Teeth are not for biting (send help) says "Try this instead: take a break, drink a cold drink, take a rest, get a hug!"

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I have written ONE smut fit. I was possessed by an idea. It is not my wheelhouse for sure. It was porn with plotish and I had more fun with the dialogue between the side characters than the actual sexy stuff. And I'm me, so it was sexy yet depressing LOL

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I wrote a FFX x BotW oneshot a few years ago that I actually took off my ao3.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I am aware of!

No, but I feel like this would be fun with the right idea. I really like doing collabs for events.

I'm a little worried about currents. I love the idea in my head, but its very VERY specific writing and of course I started it right before linktober and now my brain is all about the depths au. It's hard for me to switch gears.

I love a good turn of phrase, man.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I get BIG ideas and a lot of them and a lot of the time, I get lost in them. This happened in The Killing Moon. Of course, it was my first stab at fanfiction and I decided to write a massive multichapter monster, and perhaps, that is evidence enough for you, but I had so many ideas for the story/conflict/direction and I didn't spend enough time organizing it and weeding out what I don't need. I think it translated okay because of the mystery leading up to TotK and the fact I was working with characters that were trying to make sense of lost, incomplete, and inconsistently reported history over 10,000 but

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I think the most important question a writer can ask themselves when doing this in a fic is "why am I doing this?" And then close follow up to that is "how can I do this correctly and respectfully?"

I really, really love like someone would. I love the complex characterization of Link and have carried it forward into other pieces. It's one big love letter to botw side quests and zelink and was also written in tribute to two of my favorite fanfiction pieces by others.

it's shen x zed, adding the disclaimer i absolutely do not see their relationship as familial at all; childhood best friends, certainly, but not adoptive brothers (i could write an essay about how i don't think that's what it comes across even in the comic and how they were not really raised as siblings despite what kusho represents to both of them but that's!! not what i should be talking about so i'll leave it here). of course, i'm absolutely still wiling to write it as a purely platonic relationship.

Almost always unless something happens in my life that takes me away from ao3 for awhile. I love connecting with readers, it's the best part of fandom and I have met some of my best friends this way.

There's two and it is up for debate.

The first is Quasar-- Mass Effect. It ends with Shepard taking that breath after the destroy ending

The other is Walking in the Airless Dark- TLOU, a 900 word oneshot about Bill and Frank's last moments, in Bill's POV, remembering their beautiful life together. I cried writing it. Whoops.😂

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

For Doctor Who, probably When the Chaos Calls Me Out. It was very angsty for most of it and the ending is tooth rotting fluff with Rose rejoining Thirteen in the TARDIS after a very satisfying cameo from someone...COUGH...while still able to connect with her family in Pete's World

For Horizon, since my enormous wip is far from being done, it would be Orpheus, a short fic with five relatively short chapters where Aloy stays for one more night, and she and Seyka spend it hunting down the dinosaur figurines so that they can play Dino Digits...although they lose interest in the dinosaurs progressively through the fic.😏

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Sometimes. I remind people I do this in my free time as a hobby so nothing is going to be perfect.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do. I like to say the 'E' in my E rated stories stands for "Emotional Smut" 🤣 so my smut is very hot but also vanilla, heavily focused on feelings.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Nope but I want to write a Horizon/Doctor Who one

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not really but I have seen a few instances of people using specific things I came up with, that apparently became their headcanon. I don't mind that.

Not that I know of

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No but I would like to maybe, if it was with someone whose style aligns with mine

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

It has been Doctor/Rose for years.........buuuuuuut it's been bumped by Aloy/Seyka, but only slightly. I love my girls, they're so gorgeous together.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

The Dream of Atlas. It was my first fanfic, so my style was a bit all over the place and I didn't really know what I was doing.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Probably a combination of imagery and feelings? I think?

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

DIALOGUE. It takes forever!!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I've already done it!

Doctor Who

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

My current WIP and obsession, "The Space Between the Stars" closely followed by "When the Chaos Calls Me Out." I am very proud of both of them and constantly surprise myself when reading it later like "Oh hey I wrote that! That's not bad..."
