Okay but hear me out!
Punk King Steve 'The Hair' Harrington! He starts to go Punk even before season 1!
Just! Hear me out!?!
What about pre season 1 Steve goes on one last business trip with his parents to like New York or Boston or something cause he still had hope that maybe if he went with them after a victorious sophomore year making Varsity and actually having decent grades and a reputation at school built on charm and being a good little Harrington heir his parents would actually act like they care. What happens is he ends up being dragged along to and shown off at boring dinner parties but is otherwise left alone and unsupervised. He stumbles across a music store where he is obviously out of place but the music playing is loud and angry and matches the knot filling up his chest. So he spends most of the trip exploring the city with this group of people who recognize the anger in him and aren't the type to gatekeep cause what's more punk than finding your own path? Even if it's not the same as theirs he still deserves the space to find out.
And yeah he seems more the 'infiltrate and dismantle' type than the 'throw a flaming brick' type but the spirit is there.
So he learns to coiff his hair and make it big but not so much his mom would kill him. He learns to wear pants and style his shirts so they accentuate his form not make him look soft and respectable and to accessorize in small ways that are obvious to those who are observant enough to look and to those who know what to look for but still not be so showy his parents will get on him for anything. He gets a bunch of tapes and spends time making mixtapes of his favorites and buys a walkman so he can listen to his music without his parents hearing. He learns how to discreetly add a bit of blush and natural tinted mascara and tinted chapstick cause he learns he likes makeup but that sort of thing would cause problems in a place like Hawkins. He builds a greater tolerance with these people he's come to trust and learns you can actually enjoy getting drunk when it's just being stupid with some friends and not meant to make a statement. And before he has to go home he's gifted a bottle of sheer pink nail polish that makes his nails look healthy and taken care of and natural but he'll know and that's all that matters.
Steve goes back to Hawkins a little different, a little meaner, a little looser and more self-assured. Steve goes back to Hawkins and notices Nancy Wheeler. The perfect prissy princess with an edge that intrigued him even if he saw it by accident. And he spends the entire time he woos and subsequently dates her trying to bring that out, that bit of steel and fire that still really worked with her soft hyper femme aesthetic. And he falls head over heels for this girl who is soft but resilient and polite but opinionated and who obviously wants MORE and he wants to give it to her.
But then Will Byers goes missing, followed by Barb and Nancy is showing her steel but at the side of Jonathan Byers as his parents leave messages extending their trip and leaving forwarding numbers that he knows won't work when he really needs them. And he breaks the camera and that makes him feel like he's falling back into who he was before the music and the summer away from this small town. They fight in an alley after he says things he doesn't believe but knows would hurt because he couldn't get the clawing in his chest to just go away. And he takes the beating because he knows he was wrong and he remembers the scared looks people gave him that one time he got into a bar fight he doesn't actually remember but knows he won with a guy who wouldn't take a no from one of the girls in the group Steve was drinking with.
So he takes the beating and doesn't press charges and goes to apologize after dumping Tommy and Carol and comes face to face with something from his worst nightmares. He goes back after running away because he can't leave them there. He picks up a bat with nails run through it and lets loose the thing clawing in his chest. He keeps himself between the monster and the others and he keeps them safe. Will comes home. Barb doesn't.
He goes to Indianapolis for a new camera for Jonathan and comes back with more angry music. He keeps making trips and comes back with the sides of his hair shaved in not quite a Mohawk but close and a tattoo or two in places he can hide easily and a heavy leather jacket. The changes make the pacing thing in his chest quiet some and he wears a smile around Nancy and the Hollands and he walks tall through the hallways of Hawkins High his senior year.
Tommy Hagan tries to say he went bitch for Nancy Wheeler since he doesn't sleep around anymore or take his frustrations out on those weaker and less fortunate than him and he tries to say Steve is joining the freaks like Munson and his nerds but even they won't have him. Tommy Hagan and some others try to jump Steve in an empty hallway after school and before practice to "teach the dethroned King a lesson", because if Byers could leave him a bloody mess then he was never that tough. The others sport bruises and split lips and bruised egos. Tommy Hagan had a broken nose and bruised ribs and a look of fear when he's within 10 feet of his former best friend.
Steve Harrington has no throne and no court but he still undeniably wears the crown.

I wanna ramble about my TADC OC bc god damn I'm seeing too many lovely ones and I get FOMO.
Sadly I own no references of the character itself but alas, I wanna make use of this blog ahead of time and lay out ideas I've had before writing the main Google Doc of this character as the bio, since I tend to look to solidly form the OC before writing its bio as a sort of 'finalized version'.
I'll be adding pics of things described when needed since it'll be more fun in that way.
Ladies and Gents!
Say hello to my TADC OC:
Timberly, the puppeteer, puppet and ventriloquist!
I'll start off saying that I wanted to make a clown, since I love clowns, but since Pomni is the protagonist and Kaufmo exists as well- So that's off the table. Following those very rules over no clowns I decided to do the same for the general cast, aka to vary and try not to lean too much on just one aspect, so Abstract (Zooble), animals (Jax duh) Animate inanimate (Gangle, Kinger and Ragatha) had to be only minor showings in the OC itself. So I experimented a little
Something suggested by a friend is to look up 90's toys, which I did try out to gather inspiration. At some point I reached the idea of a puppet, a sort of wooden and yarn style of doll that then shifted to actual wood body, yarn joints and lastly strings to hold up.
This is where the main body of the OC would go, Timberly was the name of the puppet, bottom heavy, rough wood shapes and long arms made to imitate something I kind of wanted to have fun with...
Tumblr media
This smug fuck, why? His arms! The idea of wide colorful cylinders for arms, connected with strands of yarn in between down to a pair of simple pointed stubs for hands at the ends made me pretty happy to imagine. Timberly's clothing choice is still undefined but would most likely have either a long dress with puffy shoulders or even suspenders! Overall to not interrupt with the colorful segmented arms using sleeves. Hair? Not sure what it'd be like YET but I am working on it, though it might not be yarn so it isn't like Ragatha's.
Timberly as a name comes from Kimberly, but with Timber.
Second part of the character came off due to the idea of the main body being a puppet, and frankly was too amusing of a concept not to include, to which I want to introduce the puppeteer, Hans!
Hans... Is clearly meant to be like Hands, because it is in fact a giant, hovering toony white glove that handles a wood X made to carry around Timberly. Hans is essentially the movement for Timberly, while she is the physical expressions and body function such as touching objects and possessing some of the core senses. Hans is pretty simple in design due to not being the expressive one- try answering the questions:
'How are you?'
'Where does it hurt?' and
'Where is the heart?'
Without using your body EXCEPT your hand. That's Hans, it can do wavy motion to respond the first one but not much else- you don't need a reference to imagine what Hans looks like.
Lastly is one of the more personally formed parts, third "member" of those that form Timberly as a whole: Gogo!
Tumblr media
Brandishing the same name as the character, Gogos are made by Panini, cool little plastic collectibles I remember gathering when I was smoler. Yes some of them look quite weird in shape don't ask- But the point is that Gogo is meant to imitate one of these, and Gogos are tiny, like roughly 5-8 cm or so (Look up how much that's in inches lol) and generally had varying designs, from alien to robotic to animal of all sorts. Gogo is mostly a simple big lower base with small middle body and a big head that imitates the look of a simplified Talkboy, all with a robotic appearance.
Tumblr media
Now why would Gogo have a head like this? Simple! Gogo is the voice of the group! But since Gogo is quite small (10 cm tall) and usually sits on Timberly's head and speaks for the other two!
Now that we defined who makes up the character, there's one thing I intentionally made in a way, which was having Hans, Timberly and Gogo be almost impossible to tell if they were separate entities or a single one since in their story, all of them arrived together in one go and appeared to fall in love with the Digital Circus itself in mere moments of appearing.
Sometimes they'd behave like three people, with arguments looking like Timberly making annoyed gestures, Hans shaking either of the two and Gogo being vocal and loud- While other times they all act in one way together, Gogo speaking, Timberly gesturing and Hans keeping them on the move if needed.
Who knows what these three are, if not a single mind that fell into what felt like a dreamy blessing, or three individuals shackled to live as one?
First post using this account again, fun stuff, sorry about the text wall but if you did reach this, hope you liked the concept of the character!
I'll uh... Learn how to segment posts better soon.

SHELTER
SHELTER : seeing a threat barreling toward them (such as a storm, the shockwave from an explosion, or a building they’re in collapsing), sender holds the injured / incapacitated receiver close, turning their back to the threat to bear the brunt of the impact instead of the receiver. - @dontcxckitup Read more because apparently I can't write any short drabbles *cries*
Maria had always known that there was something dangerous in her growing relationship with Gareth, he was the head of MI6 and she was a former 00. Given their histories both of them probably had enough enemies, and enemies simply because they were MI6, that they could start a small army.
Still so far things had been relatively smooth in that department. That was until Paris.
Paris, the most romantic of cities. Not Maria's first choice for a break, she'd much rather have gotten Gareth to go a villa in the middle of nowhere, either somewhere with blazing sun and a pool or gorgeous rolling countryside. Somewhere wifi was limited, somewhere they'd have to go shopping in incredibly local bakeries and butchers, everything fresh and only small non-corporate mini-marts. She had visions of him, book in hand, something cold and refreshing in the other, shirtless. Or, she'd have loved to get him in front of a roaring fire.
He'd been called to Paris last minute for a meeting though and so Maria had decided to seize on the opportunity and had booked them a hotel, and filled the weekend with activities involving museums, galleries, libraries and bookstores.
The idea had been to surprise him as he left the meeting, Moneypenny had gifted her the details, just the time it was supposed to finish and the place. That had been entirely derailed when Maria had noticed the people acting suspiciously. From there everything had snowballed. Maria's agent brain, though she'd been out of the game for so long, had kicked in. Even with no weapons she was still a force to be reckoned with and she had followed.
A singular text had been fired to Gareth before she'd pulled the fire alarm.
[Text] Came to Paris to surprise you. Get everyone out now. Compromised, I've managed to stop one of them but there's another with explosives. Basement.
There was hardly enough information, there was no proper sign off, no kiss, no I love you but Maria felt like she had no time. Given the sacks the two were carrying they could level half of this block. There was no time.
Maria managed to knock one man out with a brick in her hand as he knelt to set more explosives. The building site that was the basement car park was perfect for setting something like this up.
The first explosion rocked the rundown industrial building, probably chosen for it's inconspicuousness, and Maria was almost at the basement stairs. When Maria came too the dust was settling but she could smell the stench of petrol, paint thinner and various combustants of the building site. There was a fire raging at the opposite end of the car park. She had to get out but her foot was locked beneath concrete, twisted scaffolding and debris.
"Maria-" There was coughing and her name from somewhere.
"I'm here!" Maria called back and out of the smoke came Gareth, dust on his face and a cut on his head but he seemed no worse for wear. When he saw her lay down he came running a look of worry on his face that she'd never seen. "I'm okay, I'm fine, my- my foot, I can't move the concrete." Maria said as Gareth cupped her face.
"Okay, Maria you're trapped in a building that's just exploded." Gareth said seeming to search her eyes for something.
"Gareth, I'm okay. We need to get out of here though." Maria said cupping his face in her hand and pressing her forehead against his.
"We need to leverage it." Gareth said looking around for a moment before getting up and grabbing a piece of rebar. "This might hurt." He said, he pushed the rebar into a small gap and pressed down on it, trying to move the concrete. Maria gritted her teeth and hissed as the pressure shifted and she tried to pull out her foot, with some wiggling it came loose, minus shoe and the bottom half of her tights. The skin on her foot was deeply scraped and cut and it was held at an odd angle.
There was a whooshing noise and at the other end of the basement a fire billowed outward before settling back, it was creeping towards another car. A popping noise followed.
"We need to get out of here." Gareth said.
There was another popping noise, the sound of crumbling cement from somewhere and the crackling of fire. The space was filling slowly again with smoke. Maria nodded and went to press up off the floor but her arm buckled underneath her and she realised that the pain that was radiating below her elbow was because she had clearly broken something.
"Gareth," Maria said as he seemed to be frantically looking around for something to help them. "Gareth." Maria said more firmly, tears welling in her eyes. "I don't think I can walk and that's getting too close. Go," Maria swallowed and nodded. "Go, please, I'll be okay."
"I'm not leaving you." Gareth let out a humourless laugh. "Come on."
"Maria, I'm not leaving you." Gareth said more seriously coming to kneel before and cupping her face in his hands again. "Now come on. You were an agent. Get up."
Maria nodded at his sterner words. She sucked in a breath, Gareth wrapped an arm around her middle and she put her good arm around his shoulders and her weight on her good foot. She hissed as Gareth tried to move them forward.
"You've been through worse." Gareth said and Maria wasn't sure if he was talking to her or himself. It gave her a sort of strength though, to see the look of worry cross his face. She had to be better for him, she had been the one to come running in here after all hadn't she? She's the one who'd agent brain had kicked in and it needed to re-kick back in now. She'd needed to ignore the thoughts of potential capture again from entering her head.
"What's that?" Maria asked squinting into the smoke as a figure emerged. "Who is that? Is that hel-"
"MARIA-" A familiar popping noise sounded as Gareth threw his body in front of Maria, force knocking them both over as he shielded her. A second shot sounded before there was a sound of screaming. Maria had no idea what had happened to the man but he had clearly been dispatched.
"Gareth, Gareth?" Maria said shaking him and lifting his head awkwardly. "Gareth?" Maria's panicked voice asked, forgetting her own pain and focusing for a moment entirely him. "Gareth please speak to me."
Gareth groaned and coughed, lifting himself off her and rolling to the side wincing in pain.
"Gareth are you shot, where did they get you?" Maria asked, using her working arm and her elbow to help her sit up and turn to look at him., She pulled at his coat looking for blood or a wound but there was nothing.
Gareth reached into the pocket of his coat and pulled out a small thick book, it was old, it's cover almost as thick as the book itself. It was tacky, gaudy but sort of adorable. In the centre of it was a bullet.
"Well now I know one thing your trashy romance novels are good for." He let out a relieved laugh and dropped the book on the ground.

for monogatari, top three favorite characters and ops so far? :3
MY FAVORITES SO FAR YOU SAY? Well after thinking on it for a bit. I...put a LOT more thought into it than I thought I would, so for the sake of tags i'm gonna put this under a read more fdkjhfgd.
For the characters i'd say it's...
3 - Tsukihi Araragi. I made a sorta short post about her a few days ago that goes over a lot that I like about her, but to sum it up here...she's just such a fun character to see on screen with all of her varied designs with each arc. It makes for great visuals, and a good indicator of what point in time an arc takes place in when the series gets funny with it's chronology! Her straightforwardness as a character is such a huge strength that helps her stand out too, given how many layers you typically have to observe and peel back for other characters in this series. And her bluntness in conversation serves an amazing double purpose as both a tool for comedy, and for pushing forward other characters around her like Koyomi and Nadeko.
2 - Shinobu Oshino. It was actually really hard to decide this one, if only because there's SO many characters that I love to death. But I think Shinobu fits this spot perfectly. I really wasn't all that impressed with her in Bakemonogatari in the sense that like. I KNEW she was popular but didn't see why watching the series back as a teen. Also her hat was stupid and i'm glad she stopped wearing it. But unlike when I was a teen, Kizumonogatari was out, and my group decided to watch in Book Order...and then it clicked Oh. I see why Shinobu is so popular now. It made me understand just how big of a deal her choosing to speak again in Nisemonogatari was. And with Meme departing from the story, I think having her take his place as the Apparition Encyclopedia was a GREAT decision, not only because of her physical bond to Koyomi allowing her to appear whenever, it also gives us her AMAZING dynamic with him too. I genuinely love what a like....Scooby Doo problem solving duo they've become by the point of the story i'm at now. And as Onimonogatari taught me, there's STILL so much more of her to learn about. Also her laugh is cute. Ka-ka-ka!
1 - Tsubasa Hanekawa. Given my current icon, banner and...I dunno, HALF of my monogatari reblog tag, is this a surprise? I wanna write a whole entire post dedicated to her someday once I finish the whole series and read the novel versions too, but Hanekawa is just...okay, to try and keep it short. She's easily one of the most dynamic characters in the entire cast. As soon as Bake episode 1 starts, you already know that her and Koyomi have a history together, we know something was up with her and the story just, teases it all through Bake until it comes to a head in Tsubasa Cat. Kizu pulls the camera back to see how her friendship with and love for Koyomi began (and they're SO fun and sweet becoming friends with each other the whole arc), Nise shows that she's...SAYING she's changed, even though we know she really hasn't, before NekoBlack helps us establish the Full Picture of who Hanekawa is, and finally showing her FINALLY learning and growing for REAL in NekoWhite. I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't mention Black Hanekawa as well, for being a hilarious charatcter in her own right, and adding in a special degree of personal relatability to me personally in how i've experienced things in my life. She's just...I have so much more to say but she's just REALLY special to me is all.
And i'd like to give special mentions to Kaiki Deishuu and Sengoku Nadeko. I have no doubt that Nadeko is gonna be a top fiver by the end, but I wanna see the Conclusion of her main arc since Otorimonogatari is really only the beginning of it. And Kaiki is just a really fun character to think on with his faker philosophy, and he's a delight whenever he shows up just doing mundane things like eating donuts or being a weird uncle for Kanbaru.
As for my favorite OPs, this should go quicker i'd say...
3 - Platinum Disco. It's...It's Platinum Disco. It and Renai Ciruclation are like THE Monogatari songs right? At least they were when I was a teen. It's peppy, it's upbeat, it's got some fun clashing lyrics, the visuals are so iconic that the series itself memed on it, it's...it's Platinum Disco. You know?
2 - Mousou Express. For a song that I heard for the first time...lemme check...FIVE days ago? It shot up insanely high on my list. I feel kinda bad mentioning Renai Circulation twice in a row without it actually being one of the answers, but the way that Mousou Express just...flips Renai Circulation on it's head, both in the lyrics being far more openly possessive and obsessive than the cutesywootsie lyrics of the original, and the visuals quite literally being made up mostly in part of Renai's visuals in reverse...it sets up the turn Naedko's character is going to be taking AMAZINGLY, even before her spiral fully begins partway through the arc (from Our PoV anyway). Kanahana's singing is also just...top notch.
1 - Chocolate Insomnia. Given my current icon, banner, half of my monogatari reblog tag and...my answer above, is this much of a surprise? Much in the same way that Mousou Express is an amazing indicator of the direction Naedko's character would be going, Chocolate Insomnia is SUCH an amazing indicator of not only where Hanekawa will being going in the arc, but an amazing look back on how far she's COME since the beginning of the story. Opening with a heartfelt apology, before literally singing about the realizations she's come to by this point in the story, set to a FAR more openly hopeful and cheerful sounding song compared to her other two openings it's...it's just a masterpiece of a song. I love it so much.
And special mentions to Marshmallow Justice just being a really fun opening with REALLY good vocals from Eri Kitamura. And to White Lies for just being one of the most GORGEOUS openings visually. Absolute treat for the eyes to go with the more subdued song and vocals.

| send 🔪 to encounter my muse after they've just killed someone |  @rihtual  ||   🔪 ,   with nightwing.
{ ⛓ } – WINTER solstice was fast approaching. Bathing Gotham in shades of fall, and temperatures plummeting enough to make Victor Fries consider smiling for once. Maybe. The absence of warmth coerced citizens to dress in layers, threatening to bite into exposed skin and damned be whoever suffered the consequences. Not even those untouchable by the law were safe from mother nature’s volatile snap – however the darkly clad physique of what once deigned to confront Gotham as a stalwart vigilante, stood in confidence against her wrath. SMILING, no less.
Tempered by spaceless surroundings upon a rooftop, the bloodcurdling, and violent wail of a man echoed. Palpably agonised, and swiftly faltered into a guttural choke. Suffocating on his own BLOOD, actions to sieze the imminent flow of a slit throat stammering beyond his own comprehension. Slipping, clumsy and panicked, drenched in red that similarly glimmered on the end of a curled dagger across from his unceremoniously prone position. Droplets followed the graceful raise of the weapon, as the chains attached at the hilt dangled with a subtle noise. Nothing in comparison to the hilarious comedy of a man, begging to stay alive when most of his blood was already outside of him! HA!
Tumblr media
Knelt before the uncontrollably spasming form, the Batman Who Laughs patiently waited until the individual ceased to move. Lifeless. But with a final breath, it was only a matter of time. DEATH had a peculiar stench, and way of directing heroes to him, like a beacon in the sky, except in the shape of horrid screams. “ Hello, Dick. Chilly night. ” Came the abrupt greeting after a time, while hands were preoccupied with carving a smile into the lips of that same body. Blood coated the tip of the dagger he wielded so refinely, and he sat, admiring his work. He knew someone would show. But Nightwing? What a pleasant, and joyous evening it was turning out to be!
“ Heee.... So nice of you to join me all the way from Blüdhaven. It’s funny – you never could make up your mind about where to spend your time. Too many places needed protecting. Too many defenseless people needed saving from criminal scum. ” Silence was permitted from Bruce then, as the tall figure stood up, and slowly turned his head. “ But as always. When I needed someone... ” That DERANGED, broad grin stretched further, and he tipped his head.
“ ...You were right there. ”

I understand that, honestly. Actually, i have another question though i'm not sure if i've already asked this... (?) I'm very forgetful. Anyways, i'd like to know, how do you define 'love'? Both platonic and romantic. What does the concept mean to you? How can you identify it?
I don't believe you've asked, but, UHM this might be kinda long so I'll put it under the cut
I personally define the general idea of love as a huge mix of things. Acceptance, mutual respect, interest in one another, getting along, choosing to spend time with one another because you feel uplifted after. Being able to compromise certain things for the other's happiness without feeling like you're battling a neverending war, as well as forgiveness and learning from one another. I don't think I've truly loved someone until I can walk away saying that I've learned something from them. Be it about myself, them, or anything else-
Platonic and romantic love for me are all based on what I said above. However, I guess the main difference to me in platonic and romantic love is that with romantic love there's a genuine yearning for something that might be seen as weird in friendships? I think romantically for me, there's a genuine feeling of this person has to be mine and solely mine? Whereas a friend....I have a bit of an understanding that what we have is something they can have with many other people at the same time? It's not an exclusive bond. Of course, this probably all sounds very heteronormative, since you can still have an exclusive bond with many people or with different labels too. But, being able to say I'm in a romantic relationship with someone solidifies that it IS an exclusive bond, at least to me.
I also don't think I'd be able to be romantically interested in someone if I wasn't obsessed to the point of sickness or missing out on certain activities just to think/wait on that specific person. So at least for me, I'd have to say obsession has something to do with how I view love unfortunately. And that's usually how I'll start to identify if I love someone a little differently than others? (even though I can become obsessed platonically as well by accident...I just wouldn't go as far as to say it makes me too sick).
Overall the concept of love can also be very broad to me. There's several different levels I believe when it comes to loving someone and there's so many different ways to express it to a person.

I see a lot of people clowning on the people of Pelican Town for not repairing the community center themselves or clowning on Lewis for embezzling and. like. Those criticisms aren't entirely unfair. But I think instead of coming at it from a perspective of "why can't the townspeople do this" we should be asking "why and how can the farmer do this?"
Like. Think about it. The farmer arrives in Stardew Valley on the first day of spring. By the first day they're obviously different. By day five the spirits of the forest who haven't been seen by the townsfolk in years or generations are speaking to them. By the second week they've developed a rapport with the wizard that lives outside town.
In the spring they go foraging and find more than even Linus, who's spent so many years learning the ways of the valley. Maybe he knows, when he sees them walking back home. Maybe he looks at them and understands that they're different, chosen somehow.
In the summer they fish in the lakes and the ocean for hours on end, catching fish that even Willy's only ever heard of, fish that he thought were the stuff of legend. They pull up giants from the deep and mutated monstrosities from the sewers.
In the fall, their crops grow incredibly immense; pumpkins twice as tall as a person, big enough that someone could live inside. The farmer cuts it down with an axe without even batting an eye. Does Lewis wonder, when he checks the collection bin that night and finds it full to the brim with pumpkin flesh? What does he think? Does he even leave the money? Does he have the funds to pay the farmer millions of dollars for the massive amounts of wine they sell? Or is it someone--something--else entirely?
In the winter, the farmer delves into the mines. No one in Pelican Town has been down there in decades. No one in living memory has been to the bottom. The farmer gets there within the season. They return to the surface with stories of dwarven ruins and shadow people, stories they only tell to Vincent and Jas, whose retellings will be dismissed by the adults as flights of fancy. People walking by the entrance to the mines sometimes hear the farmer in there, speaking in a language no one can understand. Something speaks back.
The farmer speaks to the the wizard. They speak to the spirit of a bear inside a centuries-old stone. They speak to the shadow people and the dwarves, ancient enemies, and they try to mend the rift. They speak to the Junimos, ancient spirits of the forest and the river and the mountain. They taste the nectar of the stardrops and speak to the valley itself. They change Pelican Town, and they change the valley. Things are waking up.
And what does Evelyn think? She's the oldest person in the valley; she was here when the farmer's grandfather was young. (How old *is* she, anyway? She never seems to age. She doesn't remember the year she was born.) Does she see the farmer and think of their grandfather? Does she try to remember if he was like this too, strange and wild and given the gifts of the forest?
And does their grandfather haunt the valley? He haunts the farm, still there even after his death; his body died somewhere else, but his spirit could never stay away for long. Does Abigail, using her ouija board on a stormy night, almost drop the planchette when she realizes it's moving on its own? Does Shane, walking to work long before anyone else leaves their house, catch glimpses of a wispy figure floating through the town? Does the farmer know their grandfather came back to the place they both love so much?
Mr. Qi takes interest in the farmer. He's different, too; in a different way, maybe, but the principles are the same. They're both exceptional, and no matter what Qi says about it being hard work and dedication, they both know the truth: the world bends around the both of them, changing to fit their needs. Most people aren't visited by fairies or witches. Most people don't have meteorites crash in their yard. Most people couldn't chop down trees all day without a break or speak to bears and mice and frogs.
The farmer is different. The rules of the world don't work for them the way they work for everyone else. The farmer goes fishing and finds the stuff of fairy tales. The farmer goes mining and fights shadow beasts and flying snakes. The farmer looks at paths the townspeople walk every day and finds buried in the dirt relics of lost civilizations.
The farmer is a violent, irrepressible miracle, chosen by the valley and destined to return to it someday. Even if they'd never received the letter, they would've come home.
They always come home eventually.

Lan Wangji Goes To Lotus Pier AU: Part 3: Enveloping Feelings.
(Part 1, Part 2, Part 4 (soon))
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#lan wangji#Yungmeng Jiang training arc AU#I wanted to try out a different paneling style for this one - sorry I'm a day late! (there will still be a post tomorrow to keep on track)#The original 3 panel comic idea was fine but the point of this new schedule was to take time to push myself a bit more.#I was taking a look back through some comic artists I felt inspired by#and I really loved how Lynda Barry fills her gutters with patterns and doodles!#Obviously I'm not going as absolutely wild with it as she does but it was a great exercise!#I truly think the gutters are the most important and most overlooked part of any comic. There's lots going on in that space.#It's the same with timeskips. The implied movement between moments that we don't see changes depending on how wide that gap is#You're here for the funny tags so here's some that ties this time talk together:#I think LWJ was thinking about that second note from day 2 but it took him 7 days of hazing to commit it to paper.#I think he sends it a day later and immediately regrets it. Chasing down the messenger and everything.#You know if something actually happened to his brother he would never ever forgive himself for putting the bad vibes out there.#Third time skip was the hardest because there was so many possible flavours of jokes here. Day 8/9 was a personal favourite.#day 14 was also funny (week by week). I think the debate on 'how long does lwj take to catch feelings' is more or less:#'how long does it take for him to arrive at a particular stage of grief and yearning (and awareness of it all)#This is a symphony. There is an act by act structure. Every day he is fighting to keep his old sensibilities. He is losing so badly.#(I'll be returning to the main comic soon but there is more of this AU to come!)

okay but imagine if the queen dies and the entire world sits down to watch the news, but just before they can announce it the screen suddenly goes black and then... the secret sherlock episode airs

can't believe garak went from 'hope you have fun following my little breadcrumb trail of maybe-truths doctor it builds character ;)' at the beginning of the show to '*sigh* fuck it here's the whole loaf. the entire fucked up bakery of my soul. if you somehow still wanna have sex with me after this you know where I am, yours in infinite longing etc.' in a stitch in time. has anyone ever been so pathetically horrifically enduringly down bad as garak is for julian (laudatory)
