I just finished Gideon the Ninth and that book has changed me in a way that a book hasn't since I read either Way of Kings or the Fifth Season. I desperately need someone to talk to about this book. I walked away from that book a changed man.

'im gonna destroy you in this game son. every time until you learn not to lose so badly #but you will still lose. <3'#house gensa forever house rustazh foreverrr #klingonaase my darling i love you you're sooo latin coded #i really liked the singing and the idea of like gestures vaguely house gensa being three hundred kids with no formal houses or lines #to belong to. <- and so you will all be together. yayy new family!#i also liked the acknowledgment of like. other cultures existing on klinzhai (qo'nos) vulcans and orions living with klingons and such #this book really had it all im not done posting. theres more songs and looks at their food; daily life; clothing and how they decorate #houses. more examples of klingonaase lol of course cuss words and such. they also talk about battle language which if i'm not mistaken is #like clipped tlhIngan?#but they call it battle language and translate it for the reader. fun!#and of course the klingons end up on earth so theres insights on how they feel about coffee and human food. apparently the air on earth is #very thin and dry to them; every scene where they talk about klingon comfort standards they mention making it dark and humid and hot.#red lights and such! for inside #and they say the thin air on earth makes it hard to hear for klingons! i thought that was very cool #nobody:#me: they like salt water baths and dark ale and they wear silk and they eat pastries with butter. if you even care.#they mention human chair designs being uncomfortable for klingon anatomy too; there was a description i remember of house khemara #having cushions on the ground around a fireplace instead of chairs #its such a pretty description too; they have high ceilings and wooden beams along the roof and and sky lights for an indoor garden #iron railings for the staircases. mwah i love this book i really recommend it #theres something (gestures) here that reminds me very strongly of worf but i cant put my finger on it to be honest with you. not even like #the komerex zha specifically either like the vibes of the whole book.....

Ranger Gathering Assessment thingy.

I don't even know if I'll be able to explain this mu AU properly, because I'm shit at explaining things.

So it's kind of like a modern day AU, mixed with the Ranger's Apprentice time period. Also I don't know if anyone else has an AU similar or not.

I like the time period that the books are set in, but there are still modern day things I want them to like, because I like coming up with movies and shows and books and music and stuff like that on what I think each of the characters would like because it's fun.

So in this kind-of-confusing-I-can't-explain-things-well-AU, it's a mix of both the book's time period, and modern day shit.

So basically they still live in Araluen, they still have castles and knights and rangers and all that stuff. The setting is all entirely like it is in the books. But modern day things exist, like TV's, music, phones, plushies and shit, books that you get now instead of the books you'd get back then.

And if you want to go one step further, sometimes I imagine there being a portal, that leads them from Araluen into modern day England, so that way they have access to both places, but they were just born in their timeline and have their setting, but can still have modern things and can go to modern day.

Typing this out I realise it's not actually that confusing, and I'm not that shit at explaining it, it's just kind of stupid. But I like it because it means I can still have the book's setting, which I like, and also headcanon the characters liking certain modern things that I also like to make them more relatable for me. That's why I say a lot that Halt loves Queen. Because I love Queen. Also I generally think if he actually listened to music he would listen to them.

I have heaps of headcanons for this AU, like some OC's that are from England and modern times, but still friends with Halt and Crowley.

Also in this strange AU Halt has a pet tarantula named Alastor because I said so.

I know someone said it already but it's truly insane to me how quickly gomens2 devolved fans into tjlc-levels of unwell

#i skimmed the first bit of that 16k doc about how ngaiman is a Good Writer Actually in respect to gomens2 and. well #i mean. they could be right. in the way that tjlc could be right in that theoretically it's not impossible #but people arent meant to analyze shows this much. it's meant as a season 2 to a moderately popular s1 which was based of a beloved book #it's not meant to be full of prestige. it's a tv show #are there themes? sure! are there hidden details? sure!#is the writing bad On Purpose? probably not. why would you fumble the ball so hard when you're not guaranteed s3 to clear your name-#-and show the prestige.#idk i havent seen s2 I'm not gonna watch it but like. ngaiman is normally a good writer. but he is also fallible #<- dont come at me for this. i've liked some of his novels and disliked others and am not speaking to him as a person merely his pubbed work #anyways. sorry if you see this ? just got mad at people for not believing that some things can just be bad. and it can suck! but no one-#-is infallible as a writer. and sometimes the team making a show is gonna change the color of the sky because they forgot what it used to be

it's rlly fun how my parents just straight up. do not care. about the disordered eating. we had all this talk back when i went through a big suicidal crisis a couple months ago, i explained what was really difficult for me, eating socially, restaurants, not choosing my food, etc, and now it's like. okay it didn't exist actually.

mother i am not going to order you around, either you accept that i'm gonna have difficulty dealing with "normal people behavior" or whatnot and you stop looking at me like :/ anytime i am anything but ecstatic at the idea of eating anything anytime anyhow, or you adapt your behavior to avoid the results you don't like to see. i'm only doing my best to handle things from my side, and i am certainly not going to try measuring for you how important family social eating occurences are to you.

Meanwhile her parents don't understand why she wants to live out this fantasy, they gave her a good childhood, she should be grateful! But... it's not the childhood she wanted. It was good! But she just...wished it were different.

And that's what Rhine and Alice are giving her!

Klee is like "My sister is a princess!! She's so cool!!"

And fish acts all cool but every time someone calls her a princess or call her Fischl or any variation she just :> She thinks about it a lot

And then more and more people start doing it and soon it's a normal occurence and there's too many to think about-

and she's really The Prinsezzin of a faraway kingdom, one that Alice and Rhine are giving her. And her body, her personality, everything about Fischl that she once hated and ridiculed, are now something she can love.

Even if she's not "in-character" all the time, she's not ❏❏❏. She's still Fischl. She'll always be Fischl, because that's just who she is.

And even if some ridicule her and say she's not the Prinzessin, and even if Fischl sometimes thinks she's not a princess and she's just some stupid girl named ❏❏❏ with stupid fantasies of living a happy life, Alice and Rhine are there.
