just a heads up, if you get a dm from nobugdev, this person is trying to scam you and will tell you to kys r slur (then deleted the specific kys message before I could screenshot it lol) when you tell him you don't want to be paid under federal minimum wage :)
this is just a small sample of the lovely conversation I had with this guy. it didn't last long because I didn't actually plan on taking the commission, and wanted to give this guy a wake up call as to how shitty it is to expect a grown ass adult to work for a wage that can barely buy a single candy bar in our current economic climate.
I've had an influx of scam artists and underhanded clients like this in the past 2 years, partially which I blame on AI art making ppl undervalue every creative profession out there. I'm fucking exhausted from having hours long conversations with someone only for them to tip toe around the fact they think my art isn't even worth a single grocery trip. not to mention people think artwork can be mass produced by a human like a machine now- it is not possible to do 10 cleanly lined images in "an hour or two".
even when I was working as a caricature artist, I was paid a base hourly rate on top of tips and was given much more time to work on black and white illustrations than what this guy was offering me. I usually block immediately and move on, but I'm tired of putting up with this type of shit on a daily basis.
tl;dr: know your worth artists, don't let these scumbags try to force you to do what is essentially sweatshop labor!
do NOT take this weirdo's commissions, even if the diary of a wimpy kid art style is simple you shouldn't be charged under federal fucking minimum wage for that type of illustration!

I don't understand the use for AI...
I can get wanting an AI to help collect research on for example mineralmining, it's just a lot of number that need to be put into order and I imagine everyone alive would find that dull. So using an AI is understandable, right?
But to use and AI to make art? Why? Cause it's quick, easy and cheap?
If those are the reasons than we have truely reached a distopian height of capitalism. Why generate garbage when there are people who LOVE to draw and paint? All AI has done for the artist side of this entire debate is make us scared and paranoid that our work is being used withouth our consent. Suddenly we have to watermark everything, put it throught filters, make the quality garbage, to the point where you can't even actually show what you can do as an artist in fear of it being stolen.
And as a writer I feel the same with any block of text I put anywhere.
And from what I just read, about @staff new fun update about mining for OpenAI... What is the goal here? What AI needs access to unanswered asks, PRIVATE blogposts och deactivated blogs??? What are they hoping to learn? The only thing that comes to my mind anyway is how to perfectly simulate human speach through writing. Can we take a moment to just assess how fucked up that prospect is.
And I'm sure some AI enthusiasm is going to tell me how wrong and backwards thinking I am. But honestly I miss the time where you could just post a picture of your friends and not worry about being used by third parties /shrugg.

Ok I know I'm heavily biased here but like I kinda love that Astarion's romance is one of the few in this type of video game where you basically end up canonically unmarried and childfree in his "good" ending? Just travelling the world??

The way HC's exit has overshadowed what was the most accurately adapted, and in my opinion most compelling and dramatic season of the show is gonna piss me off for the next several years, I feel it.
Okay I was gonna keep these in the tags but actually nevermind, salt post inbound
Henry Cavill is a good actor and a good Geralt, I'll never deny this, but the revisionist history that's going on because of his leaving the series is a bunch of nonsense being puppeted by his dudebro gamer fanbase that wants to keep holding him up as the Witcher god.
The whole "he left because of inaccurate adaptation" argument really falls apart when so much of season 3 was pace-for-pace with Time of Contempt...and Henry didn't leave the show until after production on it had wrapped, as confirmed by both Anya and Freya. It loses even more weight when Henry has gone on record more than once that he hadn't even read the books or known they existed before pursuing the role of Geralt in S1.
Also, it literally cannot be denied that this same group of people who ride-or-die for him go completely silent about Freya, Anya, and Joey---or worse, become misogynistic and racist, when what makes the story of The Witcher great is Geralt's relationships to these people and the way he acts as a catalyst in their journeys.
It's just so annoying. Be upset that he's leaving all you want, but don't make shit up and don't be a fucking dick to everyone else who works on that show as if one of them is the imposter who's responsible for his exit---when the much more likely truth is that Warner Bros. was gonna pay big bucks to have him back as Superman.

#they should invent a grad school thats not fucking insane#i'm hanging in there but im the most unwell i've been in AWhile#this week was just horrible#there was already the freezer food incident but it also started off with a very severe pain episode thats putting me in constant woe#even mundane motion has been agonizing which is McAwesome bc we had a lab inspection which involved moving hundreds of pounds of equipment#during which we found a blackwidow and rats which we had to deal with and was a whole thing psychologically on top of the physical toll#the new class fiasco is still popping off and i had to respond to at this point over 400 emails in the fleeting moments outside of lab#AND A STUDENT TRIED TO FINANCIALLY BRIBE THEIR WAY INTO THE CLASS ? ?? ?? ?????#then the instructor wanted to use me as a guinea pig and i had to test new circuit boards but I wasnt given any time to do so properly#i had to test them plus get them operational and deal with my incoming students all in a frantic 10 minute window#im in charge of running our meetings too but the instructor was interrupting and having side conversations that made it really hard-#to train the other people on the new equipment in a smooth manner#which meant that a bunch of people had to keep me after to ask questions which made me late for my drs appointment#where i found out i cant get the new covid vaccine bc my heart and blood levels arnt stable enough#and joanns lost an expensive+critical fabric order of mine+i had to give a big presentation this week on my research that was stressful#and my inbox is still blowing up from being needed all over the place between teaching lab and classes and yall i am. so so tired.#im in so much pain and so stressed out#debating the ethics of turning into a pile of lint to escape my responsibilities and mortal frame

hi, do not make ai content from voice actors' work. that includes voice lines from games, shows, etc. you are not entitled to use their voice as you please. that is their tool, that is how they earn a living, and more importantly, it is a part of their person.
i'm blocking anyone i see using ai chatbots, ai image generation, or ai voice mixes. if you're not interested in treating the works of artists with respect and refuse to discontinue use of ai mechanisms, then save me some trouble and block me yourself. thanks

i think i've literally exhausted every possible thought to have about beyond evil, because i was just thinking about the man juwon's mom left behind to marry han kihwan. literally someone only mentioned once in passing. is this too far.
