I’m very excited about the Oilers win and everything, but I’m also super grateful because this game was kind of a big deal for Stu.

After struggling a lot against Vancouver in the second round, and getting pulled and benched for a couple games, public opinion of him was low and nobody was really sure if he would be our number one (I never doubted!!). People lost a lot of faith in him, and that was really frustrating to see.

So managing to come out with a win, IN THE WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS NO LESS, is amazing. This was a redemption game for him, and I don’t know about y’all, but I think he redeemed himself. Those two goals were very unfortunate, but Stu didn’t let them get to him in overtime. He stood tall and allowed Edmonton to come out with a win.

Stuart Skinner is Edmonton’s goalie, and as of right now, he’s our number one and he deserves it, he’s battled hard and has rebounded (No hate to Picks, love him!!!!). So yeah, I’m just feeling very silly after that win and what it meant for lovely Stuuuuuu 🥰🥰🥰

So. Broke things off with my potential boy :( I cut off A LOT of my hair it is now just above breast level. Am about two weeks away total from finishing this year of uni, and am planning on a big writing summer while I have such an amazing opportunity of free time while I’m still job searching!! Have had two rejections this week but that’s okay (for now 👀) ! am on season 7 of my criminal minds rewatch, of which I intend to watch up to evolutions and prepare for the new season, and season 2 of the bear again!! My headaches from my medication are quite bad but getting easier to deal with, I haven’t hurt myself, things with my friends are going well (I think they really love me as I love them) and my worries are at a low lying level. I think the most stressful thing for me right now is meal planning, because the one food I was relying on all the time has been hard to find this week and I’m too picky 😭 and also I have some remorse about not contributing as much as I should to keeping the household it’s not nice of me, I was just so stressed but everyone is stressed too so I need to buckle up. I spent WAY too much of my budget this week, like twice what I should have, and there’s still nothing here for me to eat tomorrow but I will obviously just have to do that tomorrow haha. The snoopy top was worth it. Was listening back through the Hazbin Hotel songs again and I noticed a really cool detail in how each of the characters sing. As some of you might’ve noticed, during Hell’s Greatest Dad Lucifer is very audibly taking in many deep breaths before each lyric, while in contrast you can’t hear Alastor breathing at all. And I wondered if this was a trend with Alastor’s character (intentional) or if it was just due to different singing styles (unintentional). And I have come to the conclusion that the lack of audible breathing on Alastor’s part is very intentional.

Of all the songs and characters that sing, the majority of them do have audible breathing, which is particularly loud when they’re visibly out of breath, panicked, emotional, excited, etc. the big exceptions are Husk, Alastor, Carmilla, and Angel Dust.

With Husk we never hear him audibly breathing. This might be due to the nature of the songs he features in, where Loser Baby’s slower duet gives more room to breath silently than a fast paced one like Hell is Forever. But I think it’s a good hint of Husk’s control over his breathing/singing. He’s a gambler, he likely has one hell of a poker face and knows how to present himself as calm and in control regardless of what he’s feeling, and that’s showcased in how he sings.

It’s the same situation with Alastor. Regardless of how he was feeling during Stayed Gone or Hell’s Greatest Dad, we never hear him breathing. He’s presenting himself as calm and in control of the situation, even as the song devolves into a yelling match in Hell’s Greatest Dad. He keeps up his no audible breathing during his part in Ready for This, though it’s a little hard to tell if Rosie’s breathing is covering up any audible breathing he’s doing. The only time we hear Alastor audibly breathe is during his solo in Finale/The Show Must Go On. Where every single line is followed by a deep and harsh breath. It’s also the only time we see him drop his mask and visibly have a mental breakdown. I’m what little he sings with the group, you can’t hear him breathing anymore, but that might just be because he gets like, one line before the finale of the song.

Carmilla is an interesting one. During Respectless, you can’t hear her breath at all, but you can hear Velvette taking multiple audible breaths. If we equate no breathing to controlling themselves in the situation, then we can interpret that as Carmilla trying to keep her cool about Velvette showing off the angel head she brought to the meeting, and not let anything slip. In Whatever it Takes, Carmilla starts the song by taking many audible breaths before each line, implying she’s letting her guard and control down for Zestial. Out for Love has her breathing silently again. I’m not too sure what it could mean character wise aside from her being calm and in control of the training session.

Angel Dust is also super interesting. During the start of his solo song Poison, you can’t hear any audible breathing from him. And it makes sense, coupled with the visuals onscreen, Angel Dust is trying to make himself feel like he’s in control of his situation and what’s happening to him. It’s not until the very end of the song, where his voice starts breaking that we hear him audibly breathe, because he’s not in control of his situation and he couldn’t keep pretending that he was.

Tl;dr: within the songs of Hazbin Hotel, how a character breathes between lyrics, silently or loudly, is being used to further build their character and give the audience a sense of their emotional state. Also, the breathing makes it feel more like the characters are actually singing and it’s not just a cool polished sound track for the show.

abel is trying to find a way to save them both and get them out while his twin sister actively participates and tries to kill him. when she was lost, she got recognized as the next games player and taken in by one of the players of the prior game. she was groomed and manipulated into genuinely believing her brother is the one to blame for her situation and life, allowing her dark emotions, hatred and sick thoughts to fester over the years in order to guarantee a particular "amusing" and brutal game. in the meantime, he was plagued with sorrow and guilt for years and just wants to save and bring his sister back home even though one of them is destined to die in this game and the other to host the next game

abel is basically trying to bend the rules and get them both out and stop the games for good but its hard with his sister and her players chasing him and it turns out theres a reason for the games and that in the end, all of them are victims, everybody is forced to play and that there is an even bigger game going on all around

Like we all know he doesn't agree with the fire nation rn but how will he react?

Will he not support him cause sokkas a guy? Will he not support him because it's SOKKA? Will he accept him? Will he reveal he's known for years zuko was gay?

Especially with everything that happened with zhao, regarding to what jee said to bato on their date. (Which is a very understandable perspective, zuko just got out of this very sexually traumatising situation and almost immediately starts a relationship (his first relationship) with sokka, but then again it is a very unique situation)

One thing I love about some atla fics is how they portray the FNs thoughts on queerness, cause on one hand they were one of the only country's (I think) that treated men and women the same but then again it's also the fucking fire nation.

And I also think zukos whole canon arc can be very comparative to queerness,

His dads an asshole and after speaking out against him he throws him out, and zuko try's for 3 years to regain his father's love and acceptance, and then faced with the opportunity of regaining it takes it immediately regardless of who or what he may hurt (iroh, his own morals etc) but once he makes it back home realises how fucked up everything is and eventually confronts his dad and openly tells him he doesn't agree with him then runs aways.

I also wonder if iroh secretly knows jee is queer it doesn't seem that likely to me but it also is iroh so who knows.

I do think Iroh’s reaction will be a big moment for not only the story but for Zuko’s character development. Right now, Zuko’s technically still a prisoner, holding himself there by assuming Iroh will not understand or judge him when in reality he’ll never know what his uncle is thinking until they TALK ABOUT IT. (Which the FN royal family is just sooo good at healthy communication I don’t understand why this is so hard for them lol?!)

I do agree that the suddenness of the relationship combined with the intensity from both zuko and Sokka is very alarming for people looking at it from the outside (I mean we all totally get it cause we were there but others are like uhhhh hmmmm ok this might be concerning) so I get them gossiping and wondering if this is truly real or what the fucks going on with those boys.

I love Zukos canon arc because there’s just so much about zukos story that can be relatable no matter who you are and I think that’s why he is a fan favorite (it doesn’t explain why we torture him the way we do but ehhhh it’s fine haha)
