So I’m obsessing over this and I just had to share it

ok so recently I came up with this idea so let me ramble

so what if Infinity affected how Gojo ages? like, slowing down the rate at which he ages to be infinitely small, so he basically stays the same age forever? and if I use that for like, fix purposes it would start happening at like 17 because that’s when he really started getting super OP and became “the strongest”

so like, he just stays at 17 forever because it would basically take the amount of numbers between 0 and 1 in years for him to age one year, which is infinite because maths and stuff

this also has great potential for ANGST because like, all his friends are getting older and he’s still staying the same. and as a TEACHER his students are all about the same physical age as him but they’re eventually gonna be older (if they live long enough) than him (the sad bit applies ESPECIALLY to Megumi because Gojo basically raised the kid and now he’s getting older and aaaaaaaaaaa)

also, the way some people (cough cough Geto) would react when they see that he hasn’t aged in the past decade would be absolutely hilarious I think, cause like “hey bro how come you haven’t aged?” “oh yeah it’s because infinity or whatnot but anyways hi old man”

like it has so much potential as so much like it could be hella angsty but also kinda nice because BECAUSE he could keep teaching and helping to fix the system for basically forever but also THAT would be hella angsty too because he has to see all of his students die either from old age or because of curses so literally everyone he cares about will die while he just. stays alive. like, there’s so much potential for ANGST here and I love it

so yeah that’s all but if there are suggestions please comment them because I might actually make this into a fic and don’t you DARE steal this idea even though I don’t know if this has actually been thought about before but oh welp. but yeah I’m absolutely obsessed with this idea and I needed to share so hope the people like it.

Soooo…. I have been inspired and I drew a thing! As you guys know, I love Barnaby and I’ve been obsessed with him for a while and even made a ask blog where you can ask him questions and I’d draw a picture, responding to the question as Barnaby! So, I was reading facts about him the other day and it said….

I was wondering how or what Barnaby does to handle these types of situations where people want to die of old age, since he doesn’t have any time related powers. That’s when I realized: Barnaby needs a little assistant to help him murder his party guests!

So, I’d like to introduce you all to my first BBU OC, Bartholomew the bat!

(Psssst! If you turn him upside down and look at his face, ignore the ears, you’ll see a little Easter egg in the outline of the head! Could that be the outline of Barnaby’s head?!)

I would’ve liked to choose a time related name for him, but Bartholomew was his WIP name and…. I think his name fits him quite well!

Now, Bartho here has Time magic. I had to come up with all of this from scratch, since the game isn’t out yet and no time related characters have been revealed, but basically, Bartho can manipulate time on himself and on others. He can make himself and others look and feel any age he wants, using his magic, he has technically found a way to make himself immortal by rewinding time on himself, as a result, he has lived countless lives, so his backstory can be anything you want! If you can think it, he’s probably lived it!

(This makes him kinda OP, i know, but I honestly can’t think of any drawbacks to this power, so if you have a suggestion, feel free to leave a comment!)

When Bartho went to go join Barnaby’s party, Bartho surprised Barnaby by saying that he wanted all the deaths that Barnaby could possibly think of. Barnaby questioned it of course, but when Bartho explained what he could do, I’d like to imagine that Barnaby probably had a heart attack out of joy! XD

Compared to Barnaby, Bartho is extremely tiny! About the size of a mouse! Barnaby can definitely eat him, if he wanted to!

I’d like to think that he is a clockmaker who loves clocks and watches and loves to fix them!

One of my favorite ideas I’ve come up for Bartho is that when he sleeps, he sways from side to side like a pendulum on a clock!

These were Bartho’s concepts, and they’re not pretty. I was going to post these the other day, but after looking at them some more, I decided that I wasn’t happy with either of them, and needed to go back to the drawing board and make something that I’m actually happy with! And yes, Bartho did have a tail at one point, but I quickly scrapped that idea, created a inspirational board on Pinterest, and tried to get inspired. The things that inspired Bartho’s design is Steampunk, clocks, other bat OCs, actual bats, furries, Halloween, autumn, and Of course, Barnaby!

I would have loved to have this somewhere on Bartho’s ghost design, but alas, I wanted it to be as easy to draw as Barnaby is, adding this would complicate things a lot. So I opted for a finished hourglass, signaling that his time alive is finished and that he has no need to keep track of time anymore. Because he can’t keep track of time in his ghost form, Bartho prefers to stay alive, but isn’t afraid of death, since he can just rewind time on himself. (Yay!!! My version of time magic is broken and OP! LOL!)

my best idea is that it takes a long time to learn ballet routine, and it’s really grueling on the body, but it comes it comes out as a beautiful ballet that millions are anxious to see.

as an ex-dancer, ballet would KILL my body! but i always was so happy with how it turned out (haha… turn out… sorry)

I genuinely don't understand what this means. Thoughts?

I scrolled through who was interacting with it and it’s jonry@s, so I’m missing the specific context (I have most of them blocked), and I'm a little confused about what exactly their grievance is. It seems like they feel that we don't understand that there were multiple reasons Ned didn't talk about Lyanna much (trauma, to keep the secret of Jon's parentage), but I don't think I've seen people ignore those reasons? Mainly, op feels that there is a lot to Lyanna and the Lyanna & Arya parallels that we're ignoring, but I'm not sure I agree with where they want to take those.

We have very little info to go on with Lyanna and Martin’s focus is on the, I mean, I guess, his own version of a Madonna myth. I don't think that has anything to do with Arya at all, and because that’s the literary angle Martin chose, it's only natural for us to focus on Rhaegar the prophecy, and the end of Lyanna's life to understand what he's saying there. And of course, the prophecy kid is the important thing here, with R+L=J Martin’s big secret that pervades the story, so again, I don’t see the problem with us trying to sort that all out. It matters for Jon more than anyone else, and he's kinda a big deal.

And then we get to the pretty discourse.

I personally do not think how pretty Arya is matters. I’ve discussed before that Sansa’s beauty / Tully looks drives her plot in a big way (LF's obsession) so we get lots on that, and that Jon looking like Ned and Arya is a creative way for Martin to get at R+L=J:

That’s why their appearance matters in AGOT. The primary use of that comment comparing Arya’s looks to Lyanna’s wasn’t that Arya is “fixated” on Lyanna’s looks as op says,

but as a breadcrumb about Jon looking like his mother.

I understand why they object to readings like that, jonry@s care quite a lot about Arya’s looks and want her to be beautiful, but there are things the author is doing for a specific purpose and then arguments we can make from the text and those are sometimes two different things. That’s why I often can see a few readings of any given “foreshadowing.”

Anyway, their anger makes the whole thing kinda hard to decipher or stomach, I find this a supremely weird way of mocking those of us who talk about Lyanna’s last months of life?

Some fans believe she was kidnapped and violently raped. They believe she was being held prisoner while Rhaegar raped her until she was pregnant with his prophecy baby. It's horrifying and tragic and it comes up when people are trying to a) pushback on the idea of targaryen greatness, b) argue how dangerous prophecies are, c) talking about Lyanna and what she suffered at the hands of a Targ and what that will mean for Jon when he comes face to face with Targs after he finds out.

Since we have Lyanna (and Cat and Dany) as takes on the archetypal “mother”, focusing on that (rather than Lyanna’s fighting, I guess?) matters when determining what the author is saying overall. And again, the R/L relationship will impact Jon in a major way, and thereby the plot, so it's a reasonable thing to try to decipher for speculation purposes.

I'm a little baffled by the idea that we're meant to focus on the Lyanna & Arya aspect of this to the same degree that we work on the Jon/R+L=J stuff. Strange. We must have missed whatever triggered their rage. What a blessing to not know enough to track the drama.

10 Anti LO Asks

(Note: All of these asks are before episode 206 (Season 2 finale) so some may be dated.) 1. I can't even trustt this "cute" moment between zeus and artemis bc rachel is just way too anti zeus and too big of a fan of "twist" villains that I just have the feeling she's going to use this as a stepping stone to set up artemis the next villain because idk she doesnt like hades still and be like oh what BETRAYAL of persephone! now both of the twins should be punished now! or w/e.

2. It's not just that a time skip is lazy and out of place, if you're just going to flashback to explain what happened anyway, then don't do a time skip? Just show the progression as you already have done? Why skip ahead only to jump back? She's basically trying to do too many things at once and none of it is done well.

3. the wild part to me is has rachel ACTUALLY read the old texts? because they're way more progressive than her work. demeter's hymn praised her and persephone while calling out the abuse of men, women like aphrodite (who has a ton of sex with many partners) or artemis who didnt have sex were all held to high respect and never shamed for their choices, and stories like the odyssey/Iliad explicitly called out slavery, yet rachel is here in 2022 being ore conservative than men from 800 BC. like???

4. A time skip in LO isn’t a bad idea in and of itself. We’ve been complaining about RS’s slow pacing for years and she’s finally taking a different approach, which is good! The only problem is that her execution of the time skip ends up leaving out integral and interesting details about how the characters’ relationships with each other have changed in the decade since we’ve seen them. I was looking forwards to Minthe and Perse reconciliation arc but we don’t even know how they grew to that point

5. I love the her current look is a "turn off" line tho bc it's both persephone being aware hades is a gross old man who only dates under 25 years olds but doesnt seem to linger on this realization (P is legit so stupid) but also that rachel has zero self awareness that shes not a very good artist bc persephone still looks exactly the same despite being ten years older. like rachel will just say whatever lie she thinks up despite direct contradiction in comic and be like wow im such a good writer

6. Out of all things wrong with LO, I don't think I mind the switch from serious to silly in the mid-season premiere chapter? The part where Zeus gets threatened with ConSEqueNCEs for punishing Persephone is dumb as hell, but the transition to her speaking to the screen like she's talking to the audience before revealing something ridiculous is a tried and tested way of moving to a new scene, so I kinda like it. It's marred by her talk of pierced ears and green hands, but it's not bad.

7. How did you get into Lore Olympus in the first place?

From OP: I found LO after seeing a lot of ads for it. I already knew of its existence but decided to try it because why not (I think I got into it around episode 70ish). I was obsessed with it, not solely because of the romance but because of the art. However, I started to question a lot of the stuff in the story and looked through youtube and tumblr to see if I was the only one feeling this way. Surprise surprise, I wasn’t and now I’m here lol.

8. I'm confused with the whole Artemis being called protector of women. You'd think she would do something to earn that title, but all she did was ask to be with Persephone in the mortal realm? It makes zero sense.

9. I know changing your physical appearance is sometimes an external sign that a change is going on internally but... did RS really have Persephone pierce her ears as the ONLY sign of her taking her life into her hands? I don't mind it as a heavy-handed metaphor but girl has done the bare minimum in ten years (a punishment she was happy with until they actually sentenced her with it) and you're telling me it's #girlboss because she pierced her ears???

10. What's so annoying about the timeskip too is it's not just lazy, it makes the last FOUR YEARS be for nothing. HxP relationship is exactly the same and their characterization is stagnant, big deals like Leto and Kronos are just swept to the side, Eros and Psyche was dropped I guess? Minthe and Daphne is resolved off scrteen, and the now the actual myth is supposed to start after FOUR YEARS of nothing happening? It's just a waste of everyone's time, but Rachel gets rich off of it at least 🤨

Wow these episodes are releasing fast

Yes hi determination released I know I’m late but I’m here now, let’s talk about this show.

First and foremost, I would like to congratulate all the love square shippers for finally having the love square reverse! Like, I’m not the biggest fan, and as I’ve said before in my reviews of the recent season 5 episodes, this relationship has been so many shades of messed up for me that I’m past the point of ever rooting for them and them getting together just leaves a sour taste in my mouth as it ignores all the messed-up-ness of this dynamic

Alsoooo because I’m a pessimist, I will point out that I’m worried this thing won’t last? Like no offense this show is known to be episodic and inconsistent as hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if the show just put this thing in one episode and will kinda ignore it? Or quickly turn back to the status quo of things

That’s my pessimist ass talking tho✨

Speaking of, an I the only one that feels like this season is not even the original show anymore? Like, up until now, despite miraculous being absurd as hell, it always felt like a part of the original show, but season 5, with a combination of the love square fixing immediately (despite the last four seasons of unresolved fucked up shit) and the rings still breaking every miraculous rule, this honestly feels like cursed fanfic at this point!

Also this might be me being petty as fuck, but the amounts of times the show makes the “bad people” of the show rightfully say how Marinette fucked up in season 4 to have all the good guys of the show tell her she’s fine and what she did was totally not fucked up is giving how people will only criticize marinette for being obsessed with Adrien during Lila episodes (aka if the bad guys are encouraging the good things, then the good things must automatically be bad too, and anyone who thinks otherwise is also bad)

Like hell even adrien’s no longer feels like a character! I liked seeing him doubt ladybug and have ideas of his own in previous seasons, but nowadays it feels like his one person is to be the love interest! Like even his entire modeling struggling with his father has been “solved” so Adrien feels like he has been fully downgraded to love interest.

But I’m getting off track, this is an episode analysis

Reverse love square neat but sus, marinette tries to lie to Adrien to not deal with her problems and force him with Kagami (why is she better then Lila again?) the wax museum WAS ROMANTICIZED (the show really fucking went “no no kids, he was uncomfortable at the prospect of marinette sniffing him and trying to kiss his statue, he was into that and just didn’t understand it yet” INTO WHAT??? NO CONSENT???) and should not have been mentioned again, the day is saved over a fucking technicality (yeah like we didn’t need the Ladybug miraculous to be more OP, now while it’s technically a magical power it’s also not and therefore even if you’re invulnerable to magic she wins) and…

LUKA I FUCKING TRUSTED YOU WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU, WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?!

The two characters that were either done dirty enough or had no character which I believed would not fucking force things… FORCED THINGS??? I hate everything

(Also real quick, my theory is because Marinette’s still ogling Adrien for hours, I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m a few episodes she’s like “No I have the right to live Adrien” and go back to stalking him but this time it’s fine because ADrIen’s InTO IT)

But yeah that’s my review, the akuma this episode looked like a candle and entire episode made me cringe from embarrassment more than anything

Also someone edit Adrien’s line to “I don’t know why but I want to be in Marinette’s place” for the gays to have scraps

Send Me a Character to Rant About/5 Things About Them

HO BOY.

Venom my man Venom. I've talked about him, here and here. And a bit more in general across my blog.. But of course, there's always room for more.

Discounting any of the real-world things we know about the MGSV production uhm, issues, I genuinely love Venom’s character and think he’s a neat idea, even when it all breaks my heart. (Seriously, so many brain worms come of thinking about Venom it’s like one leads to another and) I’m also going to be speaking in terms of Venom as being a fully fleshed out character. One that, while a copy of another person, is not that person at the end of the day.

Which I think is even more fascinating. For all that they tried to make him Big Boss 2.0, he is different from the man he’s meant to be, the role he’s meant to play. No amount of hypnosis was capable of erasing him entirely, even if some of those differences are subtle, and lay beneath the surface, they are very much there.

I’m getting ahead of myself here.

Five Things! Let’s calm down a little, shall we?

1. Psychological and TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) Issues Aside, Venom has a very grounded personality

It sounds weird as hell to say given how we know Venom to be, but if we take his personality at it’s core for now (as in the personality he has not including medical and psychological issues, just his bare bones personality), Venom seems very grounded. I tie this into his lacking belief in the supernatural, but also in how Venom speaks, carries himself, and behaves. Steady hands, steady mind kind of deal. Venom’s pre-existing personality (Medic) was probably very down to earth, and some of that is reflected as well within the Venom Boss that we know and see throughout MGSV. (It also makes him something of an anomaly within MGS, where most characters are a bit..out there).

This is not to say good old Venom isn’t without his (adorable) quirks, of course. He’s a guy who can fulton animals until he has a functioning zoo. Sure the NGO is one thing, but a player can easily turn Venom into the most animal obsessed man on the planet, eagerly scooping up adorable and deadly animals well beyond the NGO’s requirements. He warms up to DD very fast, despite some early misgivings. He seems to have (had?) a fairly practical personality. His only real caveat with DD being ‘well, I don’t know, I guess he could be if he’s trainable’ and then warming up quite fast once he sees the results. (Which could possibly tie into my belief that Venom is a ‘I believe it when I see it’ kinda guy). I also tie this into his tone of voice, and the way he’ll address people in general. We do hear him yell (not often), but he has one of those low-rumbling timbres that is super pleasant on the eardrums and soothing. I feel like he’d very relaxing to be in the presence of. (Some of this could be my autism talking, he’s just so calm and-)

Right, lets move on.

2. Venom is not a natural leader, but he is very good at it.

Okay, this ones going to take some detailing. We know at the core, Venom was created to be Big Boss. However, the man they made into the Boss was not a leader. He was one of the many soldiers beneath Big Boss. Someone who was a follower. Another men amongst the men type. The status we are told that Medic had above those was being the best of the lot. And he’s given certain privileges because of that. Trusted, and skilled enough to be included in the ground zeroes rescue op. An op so black 99% of the MSF didn’t know it was taking place. Into the heart of one of the most brutal camps on the planet. If Medic was able and well-trusted enough to be included on that, we can assume that this is a man who held some decent level of respect and competence within the MSF.

But that doesn’t mean Medic was a leader. He reacts fairly well and without much argument to orders being given, and is able to carry out anything he’s told to do without too much question. In times where he does make leadership decisions on his own, without someone else (such as Ocelot or Kaz telling him what they want him to do), he’ll keep a firm voice to it. It’s also very interesting that, even after the truth is revealed, Venom’s soldiers continue to stay with him. Even once they are made aware of him not being who they thought he was. Meaning that on some level, Venom has commanded them and earned their respect through some of his own merit. Because if it was solely the mantle of Big Boss keeping them there, they’d leave. I’d think anyway. If nothing else, I believe more friction would’ve been had.

Somehow, he becomes the guy they still follow, regardless of who he is. Maybe there’s friction that happens off screen in this regard, but I am going by what we see as a viewer and player.

3. Venom’s opinion of himself is dark, darker than perhaps others might see him.

I don’t think Venom has the best or highest opinion of himself as a person. I don’t just mean how he tells Kaz *when fully unaware of who he is outside of Big Boss 2.0*, “He’s already a demon’. But one does have to consider where Medic himself came from. A mercenary unit, the MSF. If we take the canon timeline we have for Venom, he was born in California in 1932. Making him around 42 years old when the MSF is sent to the bottom of the ocean in flames. This man was already in middle age and had an entire life before the hypnosis. Venom is 53 years old in 1984, and 63-4 when he dies in 1995. That’s 42 years of man that Ocelot had to spend nine years re-programming. Therefore, I don’t believe this was a fully innocent person before that. You don’t just come into a mercenary unit by chance.

(I am not including the kids, obviously). Venom also suggested to Kaz the idea of using the kids as soldiers, but tbh I don’t actually think he was all that serious about that. And I base this 1. On how pleased he was by Kaz disarming the kid and 2. The reassuring tiny lil half smile that follows. Does Venom have a slightly snarky side? Well, Big Boss did, and he’s been shown to be snarky a handful of short times. Not as much as Big Boss, but it’s there.

“Kaz, I’m having Deja Vu here” (About Huey, when he ‘shows’ them the Battle Gear).

“So what, we’re running a daycare now?” (About the aforementioned kids.)

“That was a fun story, it’d make a good movie.” (To Huey and the cloning story).

All that in turn, I don’t think Venom see’s himself as a terribly good person. He’s under no illusions about what they’re doing (a mercenary group in a growing war economy) and really isn’t pretending to be otherwise. I don’t quite think he goes into self-loathing, because to some degree this is his life and he’s not going to argue with facts. Self-loathing isn’t quite the same as having a low opinion of oneself, but that’s complicated to explain. Either way, I don’t think you’ll be hearing Venom call himself a hero.

But to me, that’s okay. There aren’t many heroes in MGS. I think the series, and it’s characters are too complex to narrow into boxes like that.

4. I don’t know if Venom likes kids, but he’s good with them.

Eli is a special case. Baby Liquid Snake is a very special case. but if we approach this from ‘children in general’ then I think Venom is pretty good with them overall. And were it a more..uhm..regular kid save Eli and very deeply traumatized child soldiers, he’d be quite popular with kids.

He is openly willing to help Eli right off the bat. He’ll bring him to earth (sometimes quite violently) and I don’t know that ‘dislocating a kids arm’ is a good way to get a point across, but when that’s also a kid that’s pulled a knife on you..as I said Eli is a special case.

In general, I think Venom respects kids, but understands that they aren’t adults, and they shouldn’t be handled like adults, but that they can’t quite be totally coddled either. I think he’d be quite willing to bond properly with Eli if Elli was willing and open to it. But we know Eli isn’t and Venom doesn’t (nor does he honestly have time) to force the issue.

This has always made me wonder how he’d be with David. I don’t know if David would be as aggressive as a teen as Eli is/was, but it’s one of those things that’ll pick at my brain sometimes.

5. He’s expressive, but subtly so. (Or not so, depending on how you see it)

Venom being all but nearly mute sometimes is one of the aforementioned in game and out of game controversies, arguments, complaints etc. I’m going to be speaking strictly of the Venom we see in game and pretend no real world exists outside of it here. Because I think the Medic probably wasn’t a hugely talkative kind of guy even pre-Big Bossification, but if one pays attention to Venom, they can see that he’s a lot more expressive and reactive than he’s given credit for. It’s just that he won’t always say so. Like Quiet, most of his emotions are in his face, his body language, how he reacts on a physical level.

Negating the times where the poor guy is visibly disassociating (something he can’t help) or hallucinating (also something he can’t help) and probably fighting off an absolute monster of a migraine (listen, I have chronic migraine, bad enough that there’s scarring on my brain from it, there is no way a guy with shrapnel lodged deep into his brain and said shrapnel getting jostled all the time isn’t having some monstrous headaches) he will be very reactive to things around him.

Little half smiles, tiny chuckles, side-ways smirks. Amused little huffs, tiny head shakes. Fond, exasperated sighs. Grunts, tiny comments, *some that aren’t even picked up by subtitles), scoffing, mumbling, moaning. Eye twitches. Venom has plenty of reactions to the world around him, and people can respond to things with more than just a tone of voice. Maybe he’s not about to give you an essay long poetic speech, but I bet a guy like him would give a fantastic hug. The kind that wraps you up, molds itself over all the tingles in your brain and envelopes your body in warmth and feeling. The kind you can feel even after the hug has broken.

Leaves a lasting impression he does, and I think there’s something to be said about that.

I do have more thoughts, I’m sure, but for now, this seems well rounded.

in honor of both the owl house and the dragon prince trailers being released i bring you: the main characters and main villains of each show in each others’ universe

so basically for the owl house characters it’s just going to be which type of magic they have maybe of who i think they resemble in the series and vice versa!

the owl house as the dragon prince:

Luz

is obviously Callum in the sense that they are both the main character, kind of childlike, and want to learn magic when it is said for it to be impossible for humans

ends up learning sky magic like Callum does

Amity

i’m obsessed with the idea of her being Rayla, main character’s enemy turned love interest, badass, parent issues, great hair

obviously moon magic since i just feel like it fits and she has that moon necklace

Willow

i don’t really know who she would be in the dragon prince universe tbh

earth magic bc plants are kind of part of earth. idk if she would be an earthblood elf tho. i know there are other types of earth elves but it hasn’t been said what they are yet

Gus

he’s Ezran all the way bc he’s younger than everyone else and gets underestimated all the time, but is actually more than capable and was forced to grow up sooner than everyone else

obviously he would do moon magic and would specifically be an illusionist

Hunter

Soren!!! both of them are my favorite blond white boys, and very skilled in hand to hand combat, have an abusive father figure (Viren and Belos) that they later got away from

no magic, sword fighter on the king’s guard

Ethari bc they were the best of their kind (in magic and fighting) and saw a child and immediately adopted it, she could also kinda be Lujanne

i could see Eda doing sky magic with the whole wing transformation thing (like harpy eda form)

Zym. hatched without his parents and is going to grow up to essentially be a god but looks so cute rn, and never knew their dads

What do you enjoy writing about? Or what ideas are you obsessed with now?

It's not a writing request, just pure curiosity

I kinda stopped writing because I am not motivated enough at the moment (I’m hoping the motivation will come back tho).

When I’m motivated to start something it will usually be about some random show, movie or game I like and either a scenario fitting to the corresponding plot or something I made up. And it’s usually a pairing of reader/OC and a character of the show/movie/game I like.

The main idea I have that I’m obsessed with at the moment is an ability to go back in time if you die.

Not like physically going back so that there are 2 versions of the character, but just like waking up in the past with their memories of the future.

For example if the character dies in a battle they would get transported back in time to a moment where they can change their fate and avoid dying. They would keep their memories so they know how, why and when they died (the when only works if the character checked the time before dying).

This would also help the character to prevent the deaths of other people.

As time travel in this format is kinda OP, I also thought about some ways to restrict it.

The person can’t really choose the point in time they go back to if they die. They always go back to a point where they can still avoid their death, but they can’t choose how far back in the past it is. (If going back 1 day is enough, they will go back 1 day. They can’t go back multiple weeks if 1 day is all it takes)

Also, there are things in time they can’t change no matter what.

If they died in an event that is not changeable, they can avoid dying and maybe save some people, but can’t change that the event happened.

Oh and the thing about knowing the time, if the character doesn’t check the time regularly and therefore doesn’t know what time it is, they won’t magically know the time when they go back. So it would be beneficial for the character to always keep a watch around.

Hi tumblr, i kinda forget this website exists sometimes but I’m back to posting now (mby) so I know I usually post DHMIS but I’ve been obsessing over Bojack horseman lately so I’m gonna post that now.

this is about princess Carolyn , bc sometimes when she’s comforting her friends I feel like she’s just doing it for business. like dont get me wrong I know she’s nice and she cares a lot about her friends but sometimes it just feels like she cares more about her job than her friends. I don’t want to view her that way, I want to believe she would choose her friends over her career but i don’t think she would.

like when she was comforting Diane about her book in s6, I just couldn’t help but think she was doing mostly for herself and her career. I know it was difficult for Diane, to write that book (obviously she was struggling so much) but I think writing the book about trauma would help her understand herself a lot better, and I think princess Carolyn should have encouraged that .

I’m not that manny episode after that scene so I don’t know what happens next but from where I am now I believe princess Carolyn needs to prioritise her friends more than just using them for jobs.

(Also I have no idea if I spelled her name right and I’m to lazy the check ops)

Ok so this movie is rise of the beasts!! Michael Bay is not directing this movie and you can already tell the difference THANK THE LORD (the human companions are not deeply cringe and annoying for once)

according to the trailer (which released at 9 am this morning (I watched it after I finished my Sol (early btw))) the beastformers - transformers whose altmodes are animals like cheetah, [raptor bird I forgor], rhino, and gorilla as opposed to transformers who are vehicles like cars or jets etc.

The beastformers r like “help us out autobots! Earth is in danger!” And optimus prime, autobots boss, is like I am not losing the idgaf war “This is not our battle..” but obv smth changes and the autobots help out in fighting against the big bad UNICRON , the eater of worlds 🍽️

My thoughts on all the models :

- mirage looks amazing !! HOWEVER he is so clearly a Jazz ripoff ! (Jazz was the black va’d second in command to op in the g1 series who was a fan of humans and their music) not only does mirage looks like jazz, have a similar voice and aesthetic, the whole purpose of his character is to act as a bridge between the humans he’s fascinated by and his autobot friends , something, I’ll give credit, jazz didn’t specifically do

I’m not even mad about it tho that’s just an observation cause mirage seems so cool!! like a totally charismatic character I’m obsessed !

- arcee ! She looks so pretty !! Not as pastel pink as I’d personally like but she really does look great

She’s voiced by Liza koshy of all people and we didn’t get to hear her in the trailer so I’m super curious how that turns out

She’s got an acrobatic style of fighting and is so girlboss

- wheeljack (otherwise known as Pablo - bc that’s what’s written on his van form) looks interesting … he has a face that looks like a metal gigachad with defined lips let’s just say that

He’s missing his ear fins !!!! :( they showed up kinda ? in the twt trailer but idk it doesn’t look the same

He’s missing his mask too !! :( and he has big goggles for some reason ?? ig they’re really leaning into the nerd look

- bee looks cute , nuff said

- Optimus ! Optimus has his chassis with windows again!!! In my opinion anything that looks more like g1 designs is a win in my book

He looks good he sounds good - voiced by Peter Cullen again thank goodness! I’m super duper excited to see him

- the human companions !!

We don’t know much about them but I’m like really really excited, poc leads woo !!

In the few clips we’ve seen they’re not obnoxiously annoying the way the bayverse humans always are 🙏🙏 the main human guy seems to have a funny dynamic with mirage

with human companions in transformers media, it’s ALWAYS a hit or miss and most often misses

The only human companions that are good are Sari, Raf, Spike, the Burns family and Doc Greene and Frankie <- rescue bots is a phenomenal show

Anyway about the human companions for this movie I’m super charmed by them and I’ve got a good feeling about it

I have either outright stated or hinted at I think all of this at some point or another but 👉👈 I miss her and God knows how much of this will change for any other setting she worms her way to

Ava was supposed to be named Chava, after her aunt (Emir and Kerem's younger sister) who died young (probably also from CIP)— Deirdre changed if at the last minute.

Deirdre constantly pronounces her name wrong— but so does Kerem in the end, because he's still putting a ghost in her face.

(Ava is the spitting image of Chava— this bit was admittedly from writing backwards, but became a 'haha wouldn't it be fucked up if—' that worked so perfectly with everything else it quite literally wrote itself, same as people constantly telling her she looks familiar at the grocery store or whatever. Looking at her and seeing a ghost... it was fun to lean into!).

This is also ultimately why her parenting was so lax from baba and amca— in a way they had their baby sister again, and were ultimately convinced Ava would die young just as she had— so a lot of it was. "Well shower her in the love and care we regret not giving more of to Chava." In a fucked up way kinda a second chance. Is it obvious yet that I'm obsessed with replacement goldfish syndrome / people forcibly perpetuating cycles mashed together with severe identity issues. Like can you see it. Anyways.

Not believing in unconditional love etc etc blah blah we all know that bit.

Emir died when she was 14, the same year Kerem left to return to Turkey and her brother just started college; this led to a marked increase in Deirdre's need for control and made Ava's life hell for the last years she stayed. (Parental abuse cw: towards the end it was being stripped by Deirdre the second she walked through the door to be checked for injuries— any bruise or scrape was a sign she wasn't trying hard enough, you want them to take you away from me, you don't love me, you'll never understand the pain I'm in— none of this is New but when Deirdre felt so out of control with the rest of her life it got much much worse).

"Why did Kerem leave?" His brother was dead and he couldn't pretend everything was okay anymore. Ava became a reflection of both his lost siblings. Men will literally abandon their niece, guiltily bring their cut of their dead brother's life insurance policy back home to take care of the rest of their family, and live in guilt that they try desperately to ignore every single day instead of going to therapy.

"How did Emir die?" I've thrown around a couple ideas for this but ultimately the answer doesn't really matter as much as the fact it happened.

Ava ran away at 16 bounced around a few years different cities different jobs ended up falling in with Yamba surf co. (at that time just a bunch of idiot surfers without a co-op in Brisbane) when she had a brief stint in professional surfing, which is how her brother found her & confronted her & she ultimately beat the shit out of him. Salem wisely asked no questions and simply extended an offer for her to move down the coast with them to Yamba so he could take care of his grandmother. (The others joined them shortly after.)

What else. What else. I feel like that's about it. She settled in Yamba and taught tourists how to surf and volunteered at a dog kennel and ate dinner at Salem's grandmother's house every Sunday.

(Note: if you notice it switched from Salim to Salem that's because in my initial research I swear to fuck it said Salim was the more common Anglicization but then I saw Salem on our work schedule and when I checked again saw a consensus on 'Salem' instead so now I'm sticking with Salem ig).

Salem nearly killed her during a diving trip they went on together (forgot to switch one of her tanks while they were talking and she flustered him) which is when they first moved into her apartment to make sure she didn't die & found out about her CIP and then he simply never fucking left. They're both fucking fiends for HSPs.

Heyyy, friendo! I recognise some of those fics (*winces at The Spare*) so how's about In the Interest of Change and/or Returners, for this ask game? (Good luck with all the WIPs, by the way. I feel that in my *soul*.)

Oh jesus... Um... okay, so In the Interest of Change was a PokemonxHarry Potter crossover, wherein everybody in the world ended up becoming half pokemon. I had ideas for it including every horcrux of Voldemort's ending up getting their own ghost-type form and body, and all of them fighting amongst themselves to determine who was The One True Voldemort. It was hilarious, and then JKR did... well. What JKR does, apparently, and I kinda just. Stopped. This was also right about the time I was being harrassed through reviews on FF.net, and ended up nuking my account there, so there's no surviving copy of the story online anymore, afaik, and honestly that's probably a good thing.

Returners, on the other hand, is a cool story that I like a lot. It's an original work that jumps on the whole 'Gates to a different world letting monsters into this one' bandwagon, with a side of reluctant hero, and a lot of OP main cast. I love it so much, and I want to work more on it, but I'm working on Footsteps almost obsessively right now, so it'll have to wait.

Here's a snippet, though!

There was, Irina noticed to her private dismay, a bulging duffel bag behind the girl’s feet.

“It’s not Jo’s fault.” The newbie- Cee, apparently, said as firmly as she could with her face as white as a sheet. “I should have tried harder, I—”

“Is this why you were here early?” Irina interrupted her, “To help her hide?”

“No!” The girl, Jo, cried. “Cee didn’t know I was here! I don’t even know how she found me!”

“I was looking for Jo.” ‘Cee’ said. “I was going to try to get her out of here before the gate opened, but then you found me, and then the gate opened, and I couldn’t find her anywhere until I figured out how to echolocate and saw her here, and then I saw the monster and I had to get it before it got her, and then I was here and I was gonna try to get her out of the way until the gate was shut and—”

“Enough!” Irina cut off the stream of distressed babbling with a sharp motion of her hand. “So you knew there was going to be a civilian present, and instead of informing anyone who might have been able to help locate her, you kept it a secret and tried to handle it yourself. On your first Gate. When you’ve been licensed as a Hunter for three days.”

‘Cee’ trembled. “Yes?”

“You’re a moron.” Irina said bluntly, and turned her attention onto the younger girl. “And you. Let me guess. Your home life is some shade of unbearable, so you decided to risk your life to try to Awaken so that the Centers would keep you from having to go home again, correct?”

Jo’s eyes went huge, and she looked down, nodding silently.

“You are also a moron.” Irina announced. “But in your case it is understandable. This happens often enough that there are protocols in place. You will accompany one of the Hunters here back to the closest Awakened Center, and you will stay there for two weeks. Your parents will be notified of your location. If you Awaken in that time period, then there are further steps that will be taken accordingly. If you do not, then there will be an investigation into your home life and you may or may not have to return. Do you understand?”

Jo looked up at Irina, hope dawning in her eyes, and nodded. “I understand.”

“As for you!” Irina turned on ‘Cee’, who had been looking far too relaxed for her liking. “Give me your registration card. I’m sending you back to your Center and if I see you at a Gate before you’ve taken the full set of training courses, I will have you removed from the registry as an active Hunter, do you understand?”

Big pink eyes blinked at Irina, and ‘Cee’ ducked her head, then nodded.

“I understand.”

“Good.” Irina said sharply. “Card.”

It only took the woman a moment to pull out her wallet and retrieve the plastic card, and Irina took it impatiently, carelessly glancing down at it as she built up the magic that Mateo had designed for the Eight to be able to interact with the cards in her fingertips.

She froze.

She’d been expecting the blue of an A rank hunter, or the green of a B.

But the card in her hand was neither of those. Nor was it the gold of an S rank hunter.

No.

This was worse.

Far, far worse.

Totally, exploring the darker nature of superhero’s has always been a fascinating concept it’s what drew me to The Boys and Invincible though I didn’t really enjoy the show structure for the boys it was still interesting idea to explore n watch play out.

I recently read the Batman who laughs n my fav evil batman from that storyline would have to be the green lantern batman followed in second by the flash batman. Such an interesting read n though it’ll probably never happen I would love to see those as movies.

There’s supposedly a new alien movie production coming soon n I really hope it happens.

Oooo pls do let me know when you get a chance to watch it. I’m obsessed with it, I was even thinking of making myself a shark tooth necklace because of the movie

I've actually yet to get around to watching Invincible, but I really like The Boys (admittedly tho the last two season are what finally managed to hook me; I had kinda just a passing interest in it before, but the more unhinged Homelander gets, the more absorbed I get). I remember reading that Netflix was planning on doing an adaptation of Irredeemable/Incorruptible, so I'm v excited for whenever that drops. And also for the eventual adaptation of Nemesis!

I have some (okay, many, lmao) gripes over how long the Metals event lasted (it was an initially fun event, that dragged on wAY too long, imo), and how OP BwL was, but I LOVED the "dark knights" and the dark multiverse as a concept, and Dawnbreaker and Red Death were among some of my fave 'evil batmen' too!! I also liked the Drowned. (Honestly I liked most of them, with the exception of the Doombreaker one—I thought they could have combined that Bruce with a more interesting looking superman villain for a cooler look; like Cyborg Superman, or Metallo! Those would have made for a cooler mash-up with an evil batman imo)

Wait, ct predicted something correctly on July 3rd, 2021? I was a little off, and it’s not actually the real Adrien, but still. I will count this as a success.

Canix (nickname I made up) has to be that blurry concept art guy from the Lindalee Rose video. I think we were thrown off by the discarded color schemes because why would a dog be yellow and green, but he looks pretty similar to Sabrina’s design.

Polymouse looks so swaggy in the Lucky Charm sunglasses. I’m obsessed.

Pegabun (nickname I made up) is so cute! I love how her bunny ears are made out of the horse’s little Hermes wings. Kinda bummed that this implies no Alix, but I’m curious what Maribun is gonna do. Go to the future for help and bring back the “new character from the future” who isn’t Alix? Who will it be?

I really wonder what will prompt Ladybug to give Alix the rabbit miraculous when it does happen, though. She’s the “last chance hero”, but if the entire city being on fire while the whole team is getting rocked isn’t enough to warrant her entry, what will? Either things are gonna get a million times worse in season 5, or she’ll get it during some completely normal episode with a villain who is close to her and/or has time powers.

Speaking of the team, will all the heroes show up like in the previous finales, or is this team here all we’re getting? I love the idea of Pigella’s gift exposing Hawkmoth’s long term plan, Luka knowing the identities just has to be relevant at some point, and I just think the finale having every current holder is kind of a climactic expectation at this point.

I finished my post about yin yang pairs days ago, but so much started happening that I didn’t post it because I didn’t want it to get drowned out. Is now a good time? We saw the last four powers, and we’re getting a rabbit/horse unification, which are relevant to my post.

I’m hoping Astruc will serve us his usual twitter posts about what these powers explicitly are, what concepts the miraculous embody, and what the powers’ original names are because sometimes details are missing or something gets lost in translation.

I think the ox and dog powers are pretty cool and useful. The ox would’ve been so helpful against Style Queen. Ever since they started spoiling these heroes, I’ve been trying to get a glimpse of Minotaurox’s tool, and he didn’t even pull it out. From the strike back trailer he looks like he might have a hammer? Maybe also a little anvil or something on his lower back? Idk. I understand nobody using their tools to fight in a soccer episode, but I’m curious to see how they do it.

The goat power is... interesting. Genesis is a cool as hell name, but making any object? Very similar to his akuma power and very similar to Lucky Charm. I’m curious to see what kind of use it’ll have in the future. It’d be useful to keep up the lie and pretend that it’s way more powerful than it actually is, but I don’t expect that kind of continuity, so where does it go from here? I wonder if all his objects have the same color and texture like how all the Lucky Charms do.

The rooster power is stupid busted, like wtf? His power is that he can do anything he wants? The other ridiculously powerful miraculous have some sort of big downside to them, so does he have a secret nerf or power cap? The rabbit is OP, but it’s super dangerous, and its holder has a great potential of messing up and screwing over entire timelines. The peacock is OP, but its power comes with messy moral complications. Is there a “but” with this one? Is there a valid explanation as to why Fu didn’t just pull it out from the jump as opposed to introducing it at the very end of s4?

Edit: I saw someone propose that he lied about his power like Caprikid did. I don’t think that’s likely because they never said he was lying or what his real power was otherwise, so it would confuse the kids at home (and us), but man it’d be hilarious if his actual power was just like. Telekinesis or something and they don’t explain that until a later episode.

I love how not-shocked the kids are at seeing kwamis for the first time. Mylene and Juleka were terrified, but zero damns given here. I’m dying to learn more about them like how we learned about Mullo, Daizzi, and Roarr. I guess we know a bit about Barrk, though, and Ziggy is a lot more talkative than many kwamis.

If these kids don’t have individual development episodes in s5+ I am getting on a plane to France and having a chat with the writers. Marc was actually not too bad. We learned a bit about him, and he’s actually had development since s2! I’m getting the vibe that Penalteam is only the start of Sabrina’s arc, not that she’s supposed to 180 in one ep, so I’ll excuse that for now, especially since the dog has a different holder in the next episodes. I s2g if we don’t get Ivan and Nath development though...

“Ivan is scared to hurt others because he’s so strong”. Guys. If he had his own ep is this what it’d be about? At least explicitly tie it back to Stoneheart. I could write a whole essay about him, his merits, and his potential to be interesting, but he’s constantly overshadowed in the show. I think he’s one of the characters who deserves a miraculous a lot, actually. He’s always ready to protect his friends, even sacrifice himself to save them, he loves and supports his girlfriend no matter what, he protests for the environment, he physically cannot tell a lie, and he does everything he can to make sure his friends feel happy and loved. Go deeper with it. Introduce his home life, bring back his poetry writing, if he’s the secret autistic character, strongly hint at that. Give him his Luisa Madrigal moment or something instead of making him an unoriginal gentle giant.

Nath has been oddly static for the entire show. It’s very interesting that his flaws are so similar to Chloe’s. They both have bad attitudes about things they don’t want to do, and they both hate being on teams. The difference is that Chloe makes it everyone else’s problem while Nath just ditches and gets Marc to lie about it. I could write an essay about them being foils after my hypothetical Ivan is Awesome essay.

I think he’s one of the most confusing characters honestly. Not that he’s inconsistent, but that I never know what he’s thinking or what he wants. He’s failing chemistry, he’s been skipping school since season one, and he’s asocial af. He’s not there in Pixelator when everyone’s working at the hotel, he doesn’t come out of his locker when everyone’s hiding in Zombizou, so he ends up being the only classmate who didn’t sacrifice himself to protect the rest/Ladybug. Even Chloe, who hated the idea, came around and sacrificed herself so Ladybug could win. He’s sleeping in origins. He probably wouldn’t have celebrated his birthday at all if he didn’t get akumatized, and I remember reading a post about how he never goes out unless Alix is there too, implying that she forces him. The only time with spoken lines when we see them being best friends is when Alix helps Nath clean up his biggest mess. He gasps like everyone else in the sneeze scene in Guiltrip, but proceeds to be the only one other than the mean girls to not do anything. He doesn’t trust people and gets paranoid that they’re his enemies.

Another thing is that being good at art is constantly used as his one single merit. What makes his villain form powerful? Good at art. What makes his hero form powerful? Good at art. Why does Marc start to like him in the first place? Good at art. What does he have in common with Marinette? Art. What does he do with Alix? Art. Is he caring, or trustworthy, or resourceful, or- Idk. But he can draw a picture real good.

I could keep going, but I think you guys get the point. I’ve already taken up too much space on this post about this. And this hasn’t changed too significantly over the course of the whole show. When are they going to address it? Is he okay? Is he just a massive doomer? Most characters with negative traits in s1 have had a lot of development since then like Kim’s bully arc or Mylene’s phobias, so I think it’s interesting that he’s still the same, especially since he’s self-aware. I’d love to see a @gentil-minou post about him.

Quilin had terrible animation but it was very nicely written. It was just a simple episode that had little to do with the main plot, but had an important message and some good character moments. We learned more about Sabine in Quilin than we learned about a lot of characters in their own development episodes. I’m glad we finally got the Adrien’s-Pajamas-level lore of what’s behind the door in Marinette’s kitchen/living room. Sabine is so good. I love how she knows exactly what Marinette is going to do at all times. It makes me surprised that she hasn’t figured out that her daughter is LB yet.

I hope Strike Back airs or gets leaked within the next two weeks. I also hope we start hearing info about the premiers of season 5. We know there are some completed dubs and supposedly the first five or six eps are finished in order, which is good. I don’t think the hiatus will be too long. I predict that it’ll probably be Gabriel Agreste -> Kuro Neko length if not shorter honestly. Cant wait!
