Got any Spongebob hot takes? About a season, episode, character, etc?

You know, I'm pretty stuck on this. This has been sitting in my inbox for so long. Its so hard to remember these on the spot. I only remember when I'm talking about other stuff lol brainz werk in mysterious ways lol

But I'll still try!

- slappy is the best thing to ever exist.

- Squidabeth is the best thing to ever exist.

Okay before this turns into a brainrot list. Here's the actual hot takes!

-Nerd spongebob is superior sponge. I know later seasons focus more on him being more babyish/childish. But ehh I miss his more nerdier personality.

- I'm okay with the spinoffs. I get so tired always having to clarify on the spinoffs all the time. Jeez do your own research, I ain't magic or working inside with Nick (I wish) I'm tired. I have my concerns and issues otherwise but like if you want to watch it then do it. If you don't then just don't.

- man why did it take so long for Sandy to interact with the other female characters? Why did it take so long for any of the characters to interact? Its random but I was thinking about this a while ago. I get the show is Spongebob Squarepants. Everything is from his POV. But a lot of the female characters could use a little more development. I want an episode focused on Mrs. Puff outside of boating school. She's into metal. She's already cool. Pls let her become a rock star pls. Or just another Sandy/Karen episode because they're so cute together. Its so weird to think about all of them only begun to interact recently.

- I really want them to bring back Pearl being gifted at math!! So much story potential. I'll be honest, I don't like whenever shows got that stereotypical teenage girl character™ no reason but they get a little annoying if you leave it like that. Pearl was apparently supposed to be more apart of the main cast but didn't get used so often. Come on!! I wanna see her hang out with Squidina!! I really like Squidina.

- there's no such thing as a bad episode with The Flying Dutchman. Never. Even the worst ones are still amusing.

- Dutchy probably doesn't pay child support. I just wanted to say that xD

- there is no way Squishwart is heterosexual

- shows timeline is

- first episode any episode where Perch is orange, any episode where Perch is purple, 2nd movie, 1st movie.

Not a complete time line but ya kno. There's two timelines tho! Same as the first but kamp koral takes place in the beginning, then the patrick show. Then we start at the first episode. Then after that, the 3rd movie takes place between the 2nd and 1st movie.

Hope I didn't lost ya there.

- oh yeah! Perch's skin color probably changed with age. Some fishes change color with maturity! I headcanon orange being earlier, and purple being later.

I know you might point out the fish in Ripped Pants. He doesn't look much like Perch. Looks a lot older so I'm just gonna headcanon that it's Perch's dad.

- Kamp koral was kinda boring. The better episodes are when they focus on side characters or new characters. Idk its just not interesting when they focus it on the main cast. Excluding the one where Squidward and Patrick gets lost in the woods together. That was cute. Though my favorite episode is either the one with young Perch or the night cabin.

- season 1 is elite. It's my favorite season of all time. I could go on and on about what I love about this season but everything about it feels so wholesome yo.

- my favorite season amongst the modern era is probably 10? I know that's fan favorite of the modern era. I'd also say season 12 too. Which is an unpopular season due to the expressions but I find myself revisiting season 12 often. Its weird but fun to go back to every so often.

- a lot of spongebob has been ragged on unfairly. I know I always come for the middle seasons but even they are over hated. Its amusing tho how the middle seasons were so hated in the previous years. Nowadays they get more love because the kids who grew up with them has grown to appreciate them. Now its the modern seasons that get a lot of hate. Often times for just being different.

- ehh classic elites kinda ruin the show for me. I wouldn't say this is a be all end all. I still like the classic era and of course nothing can replace how witty and funny it was. But geez these people take it so seriously that it just sucks the fun out of it. Its fun to express your love for spongebob online but they always gotta rag on it and insult people who don't hate everything that came out after the movie. Its ironic considering I used to be a classic elitist. Every so often when I see them raging online, I'm like "jeez was that me?" It gets so exhausting to hate on the show. I also think its a little weird how they've martyred Hillenburg while also acting like the gods of justice by sending death threats to his colleagues and friends. Ehh they get pretty invasive at times. Its kinda uncomfortable.

- on that note. I also find it annoying how people are like "oh kids today will never know how good spongebob was!" Like the classic era doesn't constantly rerun on tv to this day. Jeez I was too young to even remember the classic era when it first began airing. Yet the classic era was what was on tv most of the time. Its like how adults assume kids don't know what vhs tapes/CDs are just because it isn't as popular as it used to. They don't magically disappear the moment something new comes out.

You know that reminds me, when I was a teen, I used to purposely act like I didn't know what some stuff were just to make adults feel like they're out of touch. "Facebook? what is that?" "Britney Spears? Never heard of her" it's so funny.

- Ngl I keep rewatching the Patrick show just to feel something

- mr. Krab's cheapiness went so out of control. Mans due for a spinoff just to rework his character so he can become tolerable again.

- from reading the spongeBob pitchbible and the mussel beach episode. My only thoughts were "spongebob has two hands, one for Sandy, one for Larry"

- the best episodes of Patrick is when he's being sweetly stupid. He's dumb but he knows and loves his friends. That's like the baseline for Patrick. He'd be terribly hurt if he upset them and he cares about them to the end of the earth. If you make patrick a jerk because he's stupid then you've failed to understand him.

- oh also, I'm pretty sure Bunny and Cecil are Pat's adoptive parents. Pat said in Home Sweet Pineapple that his parents kicked him out. I imagine when he did get kicked out, he wasn't prepared so he probably got adopted by the closest Sea Star family around. Thus the Patrick show was born! I already do find Pat's parents questionable. Like letting their daughter get lost like that, or mental training with a bell that managed to even have spongebob say they screwed Patrick up. Bunny and Cecil seem like healthier parents for pat. Plus he got another sister :)

- another thing, ehh Spongebob's parents and family in general are either questionable to outright awful. Man his uncle sherm really kicked out his own son??? captain blue couldn't listen to spange when he desperately needed help? Also spongebob's parents neither taking him seriously and seem to have their own issues too.

- on the note of poor family figures. I'm certain Mr. Krabs father Victor Krabs abandoned his family. Mr krabs grew up dirt poor with only his mother supporting him. I also assume Mr. Krab's other family is also kinda sucky since he didn't really introduce any of them to Pearl. Probably for a reason. Though his mom in the comics seems to have known about Pearl. She's probably the only krab in the family he really cares about.

- Sandy and Karen SHOULD get together. I don't make the rules 😤 😤

- patchy is good. I don't get why is he so hated. I also really like potty :)

- the 2nd movie is a comfort movie for me.

- they really brought the best music for the ScaredyPants episode. Also I find it kinda funny how they found such a hyper specific band for the show. The Ghastly Ones. A horror surf rock band. It fits too well and I like them enough to listen to their other songs just because.

- Ngl its satisfying when spongebob gets angry/frustrated. You dont see those emotions in him. Its either extreme joy or extreme sadness. It adds an interesting bit of nuance to his character.

1. ok im sorry you cannot post that thanatos and daphne panel and not tell me that isnt just hxp with hades painted a different color. thats like insulting bad in how lazy the art as become. also thats not how a kiss works, where did his mouth go?

2. i dont care if an artist draws their characters nude and w/ greek gods its kinda expected but its a purposely put in design feature and characterization and plot point in LO that persephone is barely legal with her age always being emphasized, is constantly sexualized without her knowledge esp by hades, and looks so young w/ several times of her just being naked while possible being a minor. like no wonder people get creeped out by LO even at first glance, that IS weird no matter how you cut it.

3. webtoon creators making nsfw work of their comics is not an issue lmao the problem in rachel's case is most of it is overwhelming about persephone being submissive and confused and even having hades call her a "little girl" and having it as the logo??? like if its behind a paywall thats one thing, but just cutting off the lower part and having it in print where kids can see it and disguising the context is disgusting. its not right, but i can see why some have some concerns about RS's character.

4. i know if it happens it wont be for awhile but god, the webtoons batman comic they put up is already up LO's butt and steadily climbing. If it actually pushes LO off it's top spot i'll be so happy. Not the hero we deserve but the hero we need. (PS its a good comic too, go read it even if you're not a DC fan!)

5. the LO porn rachel made wasnt even good lmao like a lot of was just uncomfortable to look at bc only hades seemed to be enjoying it and the other half just seemed traced from actual tumblr porn gifs so it just looked even weirder with her cartoon faces, like it was just weird? anyway congrats to rachel to somehow making even 4chan think she's gross. they literally invented bronies and even think that is weird.

6. I went to check out the reviews for the LO book preorder and they're all so funny to me because it's just so fake????? Tell me who the hell would call this story a delicacy. I'm not joking. One of the reviews literally calls it that.

Making Themis pregnant made lo and mythology timline dont much up, bc themis was one of zeus's first wife(i think second) but bc their kids were looking undesireble he break up with her, but didnt mistreat her like metis, but he gave her this job as a law goddes, and later marry hera. So if she is pregnant and she have only kids with zeus this would mean that he and hera would be couple for not too long, but their kids are older and in flashbacks it was shown that hera was his first choice.

9. The reason actually Law gods/goddesses are gone is cause reasonable people with any kind of morals will be against Persephone. Even if they're getting paid by the richest guy in the world to defend her. Only those who have not only drank the HXP Kool aid, but have downed an entire bowl of it through a funnel like a sorority girl at a frat party will be allowed to defend her. As is right of course. Hi Skid! You know Kon far better than I do, so...

I've seen way too many people shitting on Clark for being a bad dad, but... I'm not sure that's exactly how things went down outside of the Young Justice cartoon?

Yeah, yeah, they never consider each other father and son in the comics, but I guess I just wished to know what do you think about how their relationship developed compared to the cartoon?

I'm just tired of seeing it

I’ll be honest… it’s been a while since i’ve read any Kon stuff :( BUT that being said I do know a bit about his original relationship with Clark outside of the comics so don’t run away yet (it’s crazy to think about how young justice was also my first introduction to him and I absolutely hated him until i got into the comics)

Originally Kon was just one of those metahuman clones made by Cadmus and he was created using only human DNA that was altered to be similar to Superman‘s. But then there was the whole DC retcon thing in like 2003 i think where he was made like a hybrid clone using human DNA (Lex’s) and kryptonian (obviously, Clark’s) and i rly dont know much abt their relationship after that.

So at first yeah it was never really a father-son or even a brotherly relationship between Clark and Kon, Kon was just sort of this weird freaky lab thing to Clark that he didn’t really like and didn’t know how to act around. I think he was kind of mad about them creating Kon and like the purpose they created him for (which like fair enough) but I wouldn’t say he was mad at Kon directly but he was upset more at his existence. And ya know it was to the point where Clark didn’t really acknowledge him and I mean like Kon at this point didn’t even have a name; he was still going by Superboy and didn’t have a civilian identity so the relationship there was definitely rocky I would say.

Clark definitely came to respect Kon more after working with him a bit on missions and such and eventually he gave Kon the kryptonian name of Kon-El, and again I wouldn’t necessarily say that at this point it was a father–son relationship either, but more like a cousin kind of relationship. Like “you’re part of my family even if we aren’t directly related or anything” ya know? And eventually Kon does go to live on the Kent Farm with Clark’s parents so their relationship definitely improved but I honestly still don’t know if in the comics I would say it was as brotherly of relationship as the cartoon made it out to be but that might just be how I interpreted it?

My opinion though of how their relationship developed in the comics compared to the cartoon is I kind of like a little bit of them both. Like I didn’t enjoy how he was written in the cartoon obviously, but I do like the idea of them being more like brothers than they were in the comics especially bc Kon was living with the Kents. We didn’t get really anything development wise of their relationship between the five-year gap of season one and season two so it feels a little forced or like fakey ya know (i do know there is comics based on the cartoon and some of them take place during the five-year gap but I don’t really care for those and I don’t plan on reading them either lol).

The development of their relationship in the comics feels a little more well written to me in the sense that it’s more realistic of Clark to see Kon as family, yes, but as a cousin, ya know like just someone who is part of your family and you can come to care for them, but they’re not your son or your brother and you don’t hold any huge responsibility to them (that’s like a whole other thing I feel like I could talk about). we do also have to cut the cartoon some slack and factor in that comics in general have a lot more time and space to establish a relationship and it’s definitely probably easier than trying to cram it into 20 minute episodes

In both the comics and the cartoon though I think Clark sort of you know rejecting Kon at first is kinda essential to Kon’s development as a hero and individual and to showing that Clark isn’t flawless and he makes mistakes (another thing I could complain about for a bit) but really because I haven’t read the comics that were based on the cartoon—which has what seems like a lot of developmental stories to the cartoon universe—I don’t know if I could fully judge or compare the original comic’s relationship to the cartoon’s relationship lmao

I definitely though don’t like the idea of Clark being Kon’s father. I know, I know, a lot of people favor a father-son relationship for them, but I think Clark being a father figure to Kon feels very very fanon-y, which by no means is me saying that fanon is bad or anything, but I think it’s playing a lot on the 2003 retcon that made Kon a hybrid clone of Clark. The retcon itself I feel like also kind of pushed an agenda of Clark being more of a father to Kon then he was pre-retcon so i dont really blame people for seeing it that way either. But essentially I think how some people talk about Clark and blame him entirely for not “being there“ for Kon is pretty dumb and the cartoon fueled and promoted that idea a lot i think. Yes Clark treated Kon unfairly in both the comics and cartoon at first, but it’s unfair of people to shit on Clark for that when he does change how he sees Kon, and even comes to care for him (maybe more so in the cartoon than the comics but either way)

my first impression was Robin :) batmans friend. my impression now is that well he is my babygirl and one of my favoeite charactwrs of all time. my favorite moment is ummm. okay i dont really read comics because im a poser so im going to say the entire episode in young justice when him and artemis have to stop red tornado's siblings from destroying the cave. unpopular opinion ummm. hes not dumb. idk ive seen people call him a himbo and hes not. idk i dont interact with the fandom except for my mutuals. my favorite relationship is bruce or jason and my favorite headcannon is that hes bisexual

okay jason first impression Woah theres two robins? and my impression now is *loud crashing noises screaming chainsaw revving* i like him a normal amount in a normal way. my favorite moment is either when he steals bruces tires because i think its so funny. unpopular opinion... uh... idk what the popular opinions on him are. fav relationship is bruce again and my fav headcannon is that he listens to radiohead like a loser

Wanted to ask about beetlelyds, sorry, I thought it was technically cannon? Like in the old comics after the show ended she grew up and married him. Sorry I’m an old school fan and have no idea why this whole thing is such a big deal. Wasn’t the actor like 20 too? I’m sorry if I sound very dumb. I’m not used to this new tumblr.

youre fine you are one hundred percent allowed to especially when you do it civilly as you have done here

first of all the biggest issue faced in the whole what is and is not canon debate is the fact that there are three (four if you count the limited comics run) publicized iterations of my media

i will go over each very briefly just kidding this is going to a long answer so i will spare the dashboard with a readmore

there is the movie which im sure you dont need me to explain the plot since youre an old school fan but basically the climax is that yes beetlejuice does go for the marriage angle in exchange for stopping the exorcism of adam and barbara and his motive for this is so that he can cause as much chaos as he wants on the mortal coil but his plan is thwarted when barbara rides a sandworm into the house which promptly eats beetlejuice sending him to bureaucratic death limbo

the end of the movie features the deetz and the maitlands happily living together with lydia havign a new appreciation for her situation and beetlejuice gets his head made real small which is very funny haha

so no in the movie they are not canon editors note the actress who played lydia winona ryder was a teenager while filming the movie she turned 17 the year it released

the next is the cartoon which i will admit has the most grounds for being considered canon but in the end the show is about a middle schooler and her best friend who is a ghost which in itself is a pretty iffy gray area sort of thing but for a childrens cartoon to work a friendship is better than the obvious enemy status they held in the movie

anyway in the cartoon they are potrayed to be very close friends with lydia being the person beetlejuice cares about the most and honestly if you were to watch it with no prior knowledge of the media and if you ignored their massive and obvious age difference than yeah you probably would read it as a romantic relationship

however lydia is a middle schooler and that is simply immoral

there have been writers for the cartoon who have been credited to say that a relationship is what they were trying to invoke but for obvious reasons they couldnt exactly move forward with that angle with them establishing that lydia is a child in middle school and a fully grown adult man dating a child who is in middle school is immoral and also illegal in the united states and in canada

this isnt a good argument for whether or not something is canon and i will tell you why with one simple name and that is luke weber

if you dont know who luke weber is he was a storyboard artist on the cartoon steven universe he is known for making a lot of self ship artwork of him and the character pearl

he worked on the show isnt his material canon no of course it isnt it wasnt put in the actual publication and also if memory serves he was eventually asked to leave the project after he drew art of the shows creator giving him permission to date pearl and calling them her otp and a lot of fans hated this because the most generally accepted interpretation of pearls character is that she is sapphic so a lot of people took issue however that again is just a widely perceived headcanon it is never stated what her actual sexuality is no one in that show is because it isnt a show about that its about wait im getting off topic sorry

what im saying is what can truly be considered canon is what you see on the screen and with the cartoon they are definitely the most friendly with each other and that is why so many people in the beetlebabe shipping community take so much stock in the cartoon because it is the easiest to read the relationship between the mas romantic although that is not what the show actually provides in black and white terms

interpretation does not equal canon and in this case no matter what anyone says the fact remains that in the cartoon itself they are friends good friends yes but friends all the same

it is definitely not a show about a grown man grooming an adult and if it were you definitely shouldn’t be stanning it the extreme because grooming a minor is wrong and it is apparently a problem in the fandom

anyway if the cartoon and the movie are both products of their time and there was more leniency on content bear in mind this was the same era as notorious animation powerhouse and known predator john k who was a showrunner on ren and stimpy and he maintained a relationship with a teenager which was an open secret that nobody really took issue with because in that time being a woman in the animation industry was tricky business and your career could be ended easily if you rejected advances luckily time has moved forward and the animation industry although still full of problems of a similar nature at least people are getting called out and punished for it

you can look more into that yourself its really upsetting though

as for comics i havent been able to find good scans of them and im not willing to purchase them but in my search i never found anything about the two of them ever being married in the cartoon again because she is a child i did find a cover where he appears to be getting married and hes asking lydia to get him out of it but im not sure where the comic actually goes all i know is she is standing off to the side shrugging and looking like she doesnt really care

anyway that brings us to the musical which is set in the modern day

in the original libretto lydia is described as thirteen but since they got an actress who was older in the updated librettos she is listed as 15 and the story is pretty similar to the movie the young girl befriends ghosts and they try to scare her family out etc etc

the major difference between the film and the musical are that lydia and beetlejuice are more like friends like in the cartoon

she summons him to help scare after the maitlands attempt doesnt really work so he shows up and they have fun terrorizing people together however she drops him for the opportunity to perhaps get her mom back but when no one will help she goes back to beetlejuice who tricks her into almost exorcising barbara

she agrees to marry him in order to stop the exorcism and he only wants to get married so he can be alive again and cause problems on the mortal coil like in the movie in the musical he states several times its a green card thing whihc obviously doesnt make it okay but still

anyway lydia tricks him and runs off into the underworld before the wedding can happen blah blah blah she goes back blah blah and she agrees to go through with the wedding to save her friends and family with a plan to make him go away for good

theres a very tongue and cheek song called creepy old guy which points out how wrong the whole thing is but everyone is going along with it in a very comedic matter and it includes the line

i cant believe some cultures think this kind of things alright

basically saying yeah this is very very wrong anyway they do get married and beeltjeuice is alive for like 6 seconds before lydia stabs him to death with bad art and he dies thus nullifying the marriage because death do you part etc

so in the musical no at the end of the show they are not canon because he is dead their marriage is nullified and they go their separate ways

anyway sorry about that i just need to make it very clear that these three properties are all very distinct from each other and basically all three are indeed canon since they are publicized material and arguing the validity of which one is pointless editors note all actresses who played with the exception of dana steingold were minors for the majority of their runs as lydia with sophia ann caruso the originator of the role turning 18 during the run and dana being in her late twenties presley ryan however was a minor the whole time and still is one

tldr no they aren’t canon but to the credit of some people in this fandom their interpretation isnt too far of a stretch thanks to the era and some of the writers wishing to imply a relationship between an adult and a child

i also need to address how this is all a big deal and i suggest you take a peak through my discourse tag and check out @leedia‘s blog to see some of the more harmful things done by beetlebabe shippers

the beetlejuice fandom is home to many minors after the musical came out since musical fandom is vast and the ages of its members varies and normalizing pedophilia is harmful to them not to mention the people who have been effected by sexual harassment at the hands of adults

both sides have victims of csa but one side continues to perpetuate the cycle by showing time and time again that this behavior is normal and easily romanticized in the name of coping and literally anyone who has ever been to a good and credible therapist could tell you that posting cp even if it is simulated cp isnt a really good way to cope and you can get mad at me for saying that its totally fine but and im going to remove my character veil here for just a second as a csa survivor myself i think its harmful to not only myself but many others ok the veil is back down

tldr again there is a lot of bullying and harassment going on with both sides having their own issues but there is one side whos issues run a bit deeper in my humble opinion

one last note that i couldnt really fit in here but a large portion of the beetlebabes shipping community ignore the musical because it openly condemns the idea of beeltejuice and lydia having a relationship and a lot of the antis take issue with much of the writing and characterizations of the cartoon just a note that i think is important since were talking about canon

Fazbear Frights 1-9 review.

Into The Pit:

Slow and meandering during the first half but picks up speed after Spring Bonnie shows up. Good message and good idea, but the execution could be better. 6/10

To Be Beautiful:

This story is so full of fluff, you can cut out like 60% of it and lose nothing. I know it's going for a fairy tale thing with the repetition and all, but fairy tales do that because it's made for children. Repetition is to train a child's brain to remember better. These books are aimed at teenagers, so this narrative device is not needed. On top of that, it has unfortunate implications of "Not like other girls" memes that we don't need to revisit. Only saved by its creepy af ending. 3/10

Legitimately my favorite story out of FNAF and one of my favorites of all time. It fixed the previous story's Not Like Other Girls problems by having the goth main character hate the pretty blonde and being called out for not even knowing her and being shallow. It is actually surprising to have these two stories be back to back.

The narrative device of switching back and forth between the MC facing her death and how she got up to that point means it keeps your interest throughout that the previous two stories had problems with. It makes for great drama and tension.

The main reason I love this story in particular is because of this exchange near the end:

“Silly Millie, for someone who doesn’t want to die you sure spent a lot of time talking about it,” the voice surrounding her said. “But that’s the way of things, isn’t it? Talk is always easier than action.”

“I think,” Millie said, sniffling, “that when I said I wanted to die, what I really wanted was to escape. I didn’t want death. I just wanted my life to be different.”

“Oh, but that really takes action, doesn’t it?”

And, if I can be real for a minute: I feel like that kinda changed my life. Or very least, my point of view.

As someone who has made attempts on his life before and frequently battles depression- It made my problems so much less overwhelming. Of course I didn't want to die. I wanted my life my life to improve. And now whenever the thought of suicide passes through my head, I just remember this phrase and it helps me keep it together and calm down.

And also F.Freddy's follow up with having to work for happiness is spot on too. Misery is comfortable, that's why so many people prefer it. Happiness takes effort. 10/10

Fetch:

I'm in the minority for not caring for this one. I felt like there wasn't any direction or character arc, I didn't find Fetch particularly scary or interesting, and the MC makes a lot of dumb decisions in it.

That being said, I love how it jumps right into the action instead of taking awhile to get to it like the other stories did. The stories tend to play out like a different book and then FNAF characters are slapped in at the end. This one gets right to it and makes it integral to its plot. 6/10

Lonely Freddy:

Another one I really love. The Frights series has a good traction with its tragedies and this one is no exception. I really connected with the feeling of being pitted against your siblings, usually by accident and circumstance with your parents. Particularly this line:

“Maybe you’ve made them what they are,” Aunt Gigi said, pausing for a moment before adding: “Hazel’s the easy one. Alec is the hard one. It’s like you put them on their own little islands.”

I wasn't Alec, but Hazel in this situation. And it made me realize what my sibling went through because of it.

And this is another story where Freddy's is more integral to the plot too, and one of the few times it's not already abandoned.

I really like how well done Alec's back and forth he had with himself whether to befriend his sister or not. It's a believable character arc when he realizes his mistake at the end unlike another story that we'll get to.

And the fact they made a God damn teddy bear legitimately creepy is a mastery of horror writing that I can only ever hope to strive for. Definitely the scariest in Frights 2. 9/10

Out Of Stock:

I agree with Dawko that this one feels best to make a 30 minute special out of. It feels like a Halloween special or creepypasta you would watch/read as a preteen. Old enough to want to explore more mature stuff, but young enough to still have more cartoony stuff be familiar. And I mean that as 100% a positive.

I also like how this one is a bit more comedy based. Like the scene where the MC gets thrown across the room after electrocuting himself and his friends dont even notice. I can picture that bit so clearly.

The climax is the best part of having a dire game of Red Light, Green Light with the Plushtrap Chaser. It's very energized and exciting that the other stories don't have as often because the subject matter doesn't lend itself to it.

The trend in these stories of kids learning to appreciate their parents, and they're parents realizing they have to sacrifice some stuff to make their child happy is very sweet. And it's no different here. 8/10

What I like about this series is that you never know where its gonna go from story to story. I though for certain this story was about how the doll was gonna have an evil spirit possessing it.

But no, what actually happened is that it's never made clear if the MC is losing her mind, being haunted, or just seeing stuff because she's sleep deprived. That ambiguity makes the book a lot creepier and sadder because you don't know how this poor woman should be helped. And it ends without any clarification. That's great and a perfect idea for horror story.

That being said, Scott's writing quirks (and it's definitely Scott doing it, I can tell) of front loading info, constantly stopping the flow to have backstory and over explaining things that don't need makes it frustrating to read after several books of it. And we're not done with that either. 9/10

Room For One More:

I skipped over all the dream sequences because it adds nothing to the story. Its great you remember Sister Location, but it feels like you don't trust your audience to read a FNAF story if there isn't animatronics every couple pages. And honestly? Understandable.

I do know based on my own FNAF comic, pages featuring humans is a lot less popular than the ones featuring animatronics. And I get it, you're a bunch of furries it's more interesting to visualize. And you can go in the opposite direction and have very little FNAF stuff when they're needs to be more. The New Kid doesn't even bring it up til the last third.

But I digress. The strongest qualities in Room For One More is three points.

The location is very vividly described. The underground security office with steel walls, the radiation disposals, the musky scent. It paints a clear and unique picture.

The main character's fallen arc of self care and distrust of others is a well done cautionary tale. It goes hand in hand with the speech before of having to work for happiness, and the difficulties there are from even trying. But you still need to do it.

The body horror is not as visually disgusting as it could've been, and more conceptually horrifying. But if you have a fear of bugs in your skin or crawling in your mouth, prepare for something so much worse! And no, that's not a spoiler, it's pretty obvious where its going from the beginning. 7/10

The New Kid:

This one was disappointing. This is not the way to do a tragedy, because I don't care about the MC.

Throughout the entire story, the main character has literal sociopath tendencies. He is controlling of other people, he doesn't have any empathy, he sees other people as tools to use, he kills a bird and doesn't care- So at the end when he accidentally kills someone, I don't believe him feeling bad about it. And I sure as shit don't care about his death after him leaving his victim to die, while he was still breathing, and not coming back for a week.

Also the twist at the end makes no God damn sense and I'm not even gonna dignify it.

A better tragedy would've been his friend, Mick, getting into trouble for the murder after refusing to ever stand up to the MC. Or even the MC being betrayed by him last minute for him to learn how his shit behavior really screwed him over. But the end result ended up being an unsatisfying mess. 2/10

I'll review the 4th's books with 5 and 6, since I'm sticking with a three at a time theme and because I haven't read 4 yet.

IM SO HAPPY YOU ASKED ill try to make this short and if you wanna know more you can always ask me! They are actually in college! Two disclaimers:

(1) im from spain, and my french is limited, i did my best in learning how college works in france, but im sure there are a lot of mistakes! (2) this takes place after the 4th season, ignoring evolution BUT maybe taking some cool ideas from there, even if i had only watched a couple of episodes

YUMI (19)

she went to study history to japan in her first year of uni, but felt disconnected from her peers and missed her life back in france. She returned to france and switched to a translation and interpreting degree, and thats where the story begins

she witnessed something (back in japan) that disturbed her and is related to xana but she refuses to talk to her old group of friends for some reason....

AELITA (17)

shes in her first year of bioinformatics (both her and jeremy skipped a year)

she’s been dating jeremy since highschool and kind of wants to break up with him. she loves him so much, but she is curious about forming a life outside of the same people she’s known since she came back to earth

this desire is also related to her feeling of being stuck in the same place, she’s been trying to discover new things (both realted to lyoko and her past, among other things) but feels she is often more busy with jeremy’s research than her own

she is the only one who had kept in contact with yumi

JEREMY (17)

1st year computer engineering-mathematics (2 degrees in one lmao)

he’s secretly been developing his own virtual world, offline and with his own techonology

he also feels kind of disconnected from his friends (can you see the theme of my story), but unlike aelita, he feels like things should return to “normal”, aka, how they were back in kadic. (i wanna focus his character arc on learning how to adapt to changes)

ODD (18)

1st years of fine arts (but he will change to cinema in the future, he was just to scared to specialize his studies so soon... he needs to learn to value his own work and have more self-esteem

he lives with ulrich (and KIWI!!!) and he is a fucking mess but makes up for it bc he knows how to cook

he is the one who has more friends outside of the group, however he feels like he is just passing by and doesn’t have any deep conections to any of them

ULRICH (19)

1st year business management. he l o a t h e s it but chose it bc he was lost as hell and his father was, as always, pressuring him

he teaches little kids martial arts and thats the only thing keeping him sane

he dated yumi from 15-16 until yumi told him she was leaving to japan and they had one of their fights. (he dated sissi out of spite which was a very bad thing to do... i think the lyoko warriors treat her really badly and id to make them work on that)

AND NOW ONTO THE PLOT,,,, Ulrich stumbles upon yumi on a morning jog and he’s like “what are u doing here i thought u were in japan” and yumi just. stares. and leaves.

so ulrich comes back home and rants to odd and odd says to tell the rest of the group for that night’s celebrations (its jeremy’s bday lmao). aelita tells them that she’s been talking with her but that she’s been ghosting her for the last month and she was acting weird before that.

she then gets a text from yumi telling her that william is in the hospital bc “he’s been getting worse” and odd reads it aloud and of course they go. everything is really awkward and they all have unresolved stuff (mainly that they were too young for al the shit they went through and none of them had found healthy ways to cope with it except ignoring it so being all together again is... yikes).

yumi is left alone with william and he attacks her and the gang help her just like the old times. jeremy is very convinced it was xana’s fault and wants to turn on the supercomputer to check, but they dont all agree (kind of pararell to their feelings towards turning it off in the show) and they part ways.

yumi knows more than she wants to say, beacuse she /knows/ that if she said it, it would make everything go back to square 1 and is it really their mission? is it their responsability?

i dont wanna say what is actually happening bc i had a comic/mini zine planned but that’s the main plot. just an overly complicated fic about changes and old friendships and dumb headcanons and a plot that is in fact an excuse to explore all the trauma that these kids must actually have lmao

WARNING!!! this post contains spoilers, swear words and a painful amount of My Opinions and love for klaus

gonna start with - i didn’t expect much from this season, i don’t know why, but the promo and the leaked scenes and the OPENING SCENE were just too good, so i thought that they were the only good scenes in the entire season. and :) well :)

don’t get me wrong, i don’t say that the season is a complete trash - or well - it’s just. nothing makes sense from ep 1 to ep 10, and the episodes seemed oddly short, scenes missing and out of order. and yes, im gonna blame it on a fucking pandemic, just because i dont want to be an asshole who simply doesn’t like anything.

dear anon, i don’t know who’s your favorite sibling - also feel free to tell me and we’ll talk about them too - but i started watching the show because of gerard way last year and stayed in the fandom for klaus. pretty cliche, but i like him, i like robert sheehan, ((fun fact: my AC keeps turning “sheehan” to “banshee”)) so this post might be actually a “some random klaus’ stan COMPLAINING about lack of klaus content in s2″ kind of shit, and im sorry in advance. you don’t even have to read this.

so, when i finished watching, i was like “what the hell?” :) because i felt like klaus was some fort of a furniture in this season BUT there were also some good things? iconic lines? i like some of them like “are we burning or burying” is just THE BEST line in the entire season for me. for. me. also describes quite accurately my first impression. they didn’t let him use his powers; they turned the possession thing to just another trauma and tried to play it off as a joke; he really felt like the one with the brain cells, but they intentionally tried to dumb him down. unpopular opinion probably, but i liked the SASS in the diner scene “pink can be masculine” and that was one of the few scenes that felt in-character for me. i dont know how i feel about young dave, but at the moment i dont feel anything, again, im sorry, but the writers tried to ruin his arc OR they made him a martyr so he wouldn’t get fandom hate for starting a cult. i don’t know. that’s just one of My Thoughts because Head Full.

things that i liked: his bonding with allison (and he took her away from the riot! he helped raymond out of jail! with the poltergeist thing) although I CANNOT SEE THE FAKE LEVITATION MOMENT and... wigs... fucking bury them. burn them. they will be chasing me in the nightmares! i liked klaus calling ben out and comparing him to dad, because that was fair. rude, but a “super. morbid.” guy was meant to be rude, yeah?

i just wanna say, they could do more with him, but if the writers plan to leave him just as some comic relief even after ben died *for real*, the show’s gonna go the misfits scenario (you probably know what i mean). rob is a great actor even in the cringiest scenes, and i respect him for that. i respect him for saying that klaus is “fucked in the head” although the show was kind enough not to show all of his “crazy” (?) moments. i wouldn’t call him fucked, just unhappy, and with people blaming him all the time for the things he physically can’t handle/control.

ALSO i wonder how they’re gonna treat his character in s3 because COME ON HE DOESN’T HAVE ANY MORE POWERS TO GIVE THEM TO OTHER CHARACTERS WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO NOW BITCHES, since he lost the *last* person he was pretty close with. also, ben :) saved :) the world :) again, don’t get me WRONG, i love ben, but he could’ve been acting nicer with the ONLY guy who can make him corporeal?? they saved the world together, i can say. just because it was klaus’ power in the first place. a funny little detail.

i need to rewatch it to see a whole picture.

izuku drags shinso to his house and his mum is home and shinso is Spooked bc,, adult?? friends???

hes so scared that inkos gonna yell at him for doing something stupid but as soon as he walks in the door izuku trips over his own feet taking off his shoes and tackle hugs his mum

so izuku and inko are laughing and like, half-fallen over bc izuku is a chunky boy and shinso is so lost??? at the door and inko uses her quirk to pull him over by the shirt and join in the hug

udhihdsf she!!! picks both of them up and squishes these good heroes in the best mother hug

izuku is laughing and shinso is sh o o k bc this is the nicest hug he's ever had???

inko puts them both down and flushes a little, says sorry for hugging shinso but she hasn't seen her boy in so long! and he must be a lovely young man if he's friends with izuku

she bustles off to go stir dinner on the stove and izuku just grins and looks at shinso

he and shinso go to his room and izuku pulls out his old console

admits he used to make his mum play this fighting game over n over when he was little, and that she always used to pick this female hero with a big white cape because she liked her hair. he giggles and tells shinso that if he wants izuku can maybbbeee let him play allmight

he picks endeavour for a sec and asks shinso if je just wants to beat up endeavour for a minute before they really start

it turns into them setting like 6 AI to level 9 endeavours and them both playing allmight to beat the crap out of them

inko walks in w tea and little cakes she made and gasps happily bc she loved that game! so they restart the round with 2 allmights + 1 nana plus all the endeavour AI

izuku and shinso keep protecting inko's character from all the fire bc she doesn't deserve this

izuku shoves a cupcake into shinsou's mouth when he goes to ask izuku something

shinsou like, lights up bc he's never had home-baked stuff before and its sooooo good so he just kind melodramatic puts his controller down and says "i guess this is kamino ward 2.0" as all might gets crispy fried by the AI and shoves the cupcake into his face

izuku and inko, melodramatically "we can't let allmight 1 fall!! protect him!!!" and they try to save this idle allmight as shinso watches w icing on his face

inko and izuku save idle allmight and shinso cheers softly. inko shoves a cupcake into hers and izuku's faces and hands another to shinso in celebration

she then ducks out to go take care of the dinner again. izuku giggles and puts dollop of icing on shinsos nose, who sneezes then looks offended that his nose dared to sneeze

shinso tries to lick the icing off he nose

and izuku is losing it laughing but shinso is stubborn and won't stop just bc what he's doing is v stupid. they end up w shinso's legs on izuku’s bed w his back on the floor, izuku leaning against the bed. shinso isn't really sure why he thought this was a good idea

and they run through English homework and shinso and izuku are both shockingly good and both refuse to admit its bc they spend too much time on tumblr/youtube

and there is only one bed! and they cant decide who gets it

Was your childhood wasted by something?

No, not really. I feel like I may have squandered my early adulthood through lack of motivation and feeling stuck though.

Would you rather die during an adventure or die like a normal person?

* Like a normal person for sure. Like, I sometimes enjoy reading about explorers and their quest for the North West Passage, or ascending Everest, or what have you. And there is a certain bit of romanticism with those that die in the endeavors. But on the whole I'd much rather die in a more mundane way.

Have your parents ever put you on a diet?

* No, but I need to put myself on a diet.

Have your parents ever tried to commit suicide?

* Actually tried, not as far as I know. My mom has been suicidal in the past though due to grief after my grandma passed away.

Do you have a gag reflex?

* Yes. It can make taking pills difficult sometimes, and if I go too far back with the toothbrush it can trigger it.

Do you ever fantasize about trying drugs?

* I wouldn't say fantasize really, but I have been curious about pot. I've heard from some friends that it's super relaxing and calming, and there have been times I've been super stressed and really thought that sounded good. And if I'm being blunt and honest, another friend of mine once told me that sex while high was amazing, and ever since she told me that I've been intrigued.

* Not as far as I can remember.

* I've already had sex before being married. Whenever I get into another relationship I'll probably have sex before again too, provided she was cool with it.

* Toothpaste on Christmas Eve. It was totally an accident. I was doing my normal shopping for the pay period, and it was a madhouse at the market, and they shut down self checkout for some awful reason funneling everyone into just a few lines, and the guy in front of me was sketchy as all heck and probably high. And he did straight up steal on purpose and tried to used a (probably) stolen card.

* It's complicated. War for war's sake is really dumb, to put it mildly. But sometimes there just isn't another way. Countries tried to negotiate with Hitler for a few years to no avail, until they had had enough and declared war. I love history, and I enjoy military history. I also can get dazzled by the glory of it, the shining sabres, the smart uniforms, the flowing banners - to wax poetic; but the reality of it is that war is hell. For those who serve, and for the innocent civilians caught up in the war zone. And it should be avoided at all costs, for many reasons. But the fact remains that sometimes it is necessary.

hello. my name is k, and this is my first comic. i have never done anything like this before, making ocs and stories about them. only fandom art. but i’ve decided to leave said fandoms and focus on this. no i do not aspire to go to college for art- but it will be a backup plan. but for now, as a hobby, i enjoy art. im sure my style will change throughout the continuation of the comic, and i will probably make more than just this one. this is called high tension. i will not be drawing in this style, it is only for the cover. i want to go simpler for the comic itself. the comic wont be on a set storyline- most likely random things that come to mind. i dont want to feel stressed about this. i want to go with the flow and take this as it comes and take my time. thank you for reading this overview of who i am and my ideas. the characters- their personalities will be explained and portrayed throughout the comic itself but from left to right- a slight rundown. freddy, male, hes 17. he looks like a trouble maker but he really isnt. he has such a big heart and protects the younger kids with everything he has. he lives on his own in an apartment, but visits the other 3 often. he smokes and he doesnt know how to take care of himself. he tries his best, hes really just misunderstood. next, mary ann. mary ann is a hopeless romantic who just loves with all she has. she is so sensitive and carefree, often seen as bossy and demanding. she hangs out with freddy a lot. she is 14 and looks up to him. she wants to be a princess one day, and treated like one, and she always gets what she wants. she likes it like that. at a young age, a very young age, her parents left on a vacation. their plane crashed and they died- and mary was left in the hands of hanna (the girl to the right of her), because she was her baby sitter at the time. she now lives with hanna and taylor. next, hanna. hanna is 16 and she is nosy and protective. she does not like freddy. she thinks he is a troublemaker and refuses to get to know him. she thinks he is a bad influence on the younger kids and doesnt want them being around him. she doesnt like how mary looks up to him, she thinks they would not match well. she also doesnt like how mary changes her fashion influenced by him- because she thinks “hes cool”. she doesnt want mary to get hurt again, but her brother taylor is much easier to control. she is seen as a pushover and suckup at many times. and finally, taylor. he is also 14 and loves his sister , following most of her every word. but, he has a secretive side to him that he wont let anyone see. its even very surprising. he is seen as sensitive and a crybaby, taking things to heart very easily. his sister is always there to comfort him. they live on their own because hanna decided to move out of her parents house and take taylor with her. they were constantly away and had no time for them, so she works restlessly just to pay for taylor, mary, and their bills. freddy helps however. taylor likes playing board games, but theres usually no one around to play with him, so freddy gladly plays with him. he likes freddy, but cant trust him due to the things hanna has said about him around the house, he just doesnt know who to believe yet.

thank you for answering my comics questions!! i dont know anyone else who is into these and i really wanted to hear opinions from someone who was really passionate about it. i also am a big young avengers fan and was pretty much only reading x-factor for prodigy (ok it was actually bc i saw the scene where speed meets northstar scene and thought well guess i have to read this now) and i felt pretty weird about how prodigy's arc was wrapped up. it felt kind of anticlimactic to me, and then obviously everything spiraled off into trials of magneto.....

i'm interested to see where trials of magneto goes just because i'm very invested in the magneto family tree, but i feel like the stakes are kind of low just because like. i don't think magneto killed her because it would be too obvious, and the comic previews have already said that she's not totally dead.

also i'm kind of confused about tommy calling wanda "mommy" when they found her body?? like hello didn't you meet her for the first time when you were like 16???? you haven't even interacted on panel since like, children's crusade. what is this. when did you have time to build any relationship with her

Oh, I'm always willing to talk about comics lately! Yeah, I'm In the same boat a bit, I'm a Young Avengers fan who got into X-Men comics partially to follow those characters which means a lot of my investment is in the Maximoff family and Prodigy. I understand that the resolution of the mystery of Prodigy's death was kind rushed because of X-Factor's cancellation and editorial meddling, two things out of Leah Williams' hands but yeah, still didn't love it and I think writing about a Black bi character dying because of a hate crime would be a tricky or maybe even impossible plot line for a white writer to pull off sensitively even without squishing a number of other things into the same issue. (Especially because before the reveal I'd been seeing the theory that the weirdness around David's death was that it hadn't been properly verified and the original powerless David was still out there, which would have fascinating implications regarding the resurrection protocols and cloning, but I digress.)

I think stakes are kind of tricky for this era of X-Men because death is so cheap–for instance, during X of Swords they tried to pull something about how dying in the Otherworld meant it would be impossible to resurrect people with their original personalities and memories intact because of multiverse weirdness, but even that felt kind of forced. Honestly, even though I do have issues with Leah Williams' writing, the time in X-Factor when Akihiro loses the memory of one of his teammates caring enough to come to save him because he dies is the one really good moment I've encountered where a writer has managed to figure out how to make dying have stakes when it's so easy to come back to life. I wouldn't be surprised if something similar happens with Wanda–like because she wasn't considered a mutant when she died, they can't bring her back fully intact or there are different versions of her for different eras or something like that. It's pretty much a given that Magneto didn't kill her (it would be a pretty dumb for a murder mystery to have the killer be the original suspect, TBH), so I guess the stakes are supposed to be more about whether Wanda will become a mutant again and whether Krakoans can accept her even after she caused the Decimation.

Wanda is also tricky in regards to X-Men comics because she's been a scapegoat for the Decimation for so long-and yes it was bad but like…she was having a mental breakdown and has tried to atone for a long time and is still vilified in-universe and out, meanwhile the Krakoan council is letting Mister Sinister and other villains who have been totally in control of their faculties while doing terrible things without regret hang around so like…bit of a double standard there on the island! I know Leah Williams is sympathetic to Wanda and I wouldn't be surprised if this event is partially about trying to find Wanda a place among the X-Men again, but I do feel like it might have been more interesting to acknowledge Wanda's gradual growth and attempts to atone since Avengers Dissembled/the Decimation rather than doing a weird murder mystery but eh, I guess we'll see how it goes down at the end of the trial. (Calling it the Trial of Magneto is wild to me though, like I know it's an editorial/higher-up decision but you really want to try and compete with Chris Claremont's original Trial of Magneto in Uncanny X-Men #200, one of the most iconic single issues of X-Men ever?)

Tommy's role also felt kinda random to me too–I think Leah Williams likes him as a character which is why he got to hang around with Northstar (I did love that) and pop up in X-Factor, but he and Wanda have just never gotten any significant development as a family unit since they realized they were related. There's certainly a lot of fandom interest in Tommy, but his canon development is just not all that deep. I mean, ideally the Trial's going to conclude with Magneto being reinstated as the Maximoff's father and that family solving at least a few of their issues so maybe they can interact more in the coming years, but that did have me a little "okay……"

Wanda and the Maximoff family are kind of a tangled web of comic continuity and relationships even without the whole background of a kind-of-fucked-up mutant paradise island and a murder mystery so it definitely wouldn't be an easy story to write under any circumstances, I guess we'll just have to see how it pans out.

GEEZ that was long, oh well.
