do little beasts john and buck have little quirks or ticks that you’ve written or just have imagined? they are both such freaks i wanna know everything about them
I think in terms of quirks and ticks I have those pretty universal to their characters across my AU's.
John tends to play with his mustache when he's stressed or thinking,
Gale counts his breaths when he's angry or upset/stressed.
But maybe some fun facts about them!!
John is a huge Jimi Hendrix fan. It's something he picked up from his mom and he listens to him when he wants to feel at home. Along The Watchtower is his fave song off Electric Ladyland which is also his fave album. Castles Made of Sand/Axis: Bold As Love is a close second tho.
He's always breaking his phone, either on purpose or by accident. Brady wants to strangle him.
He has a bad knee! It aches a lot when it rains or when he carries Gale around for too long
He bleached his hair blonde once and hATED how it looked growing out so never again but man did other people like it
Tumblr media
Gale likes scented candles. He always has one burning in his room. he likes woodsy scents or those ones that smell like detergent or linens. Clean scents.
He used to be a pretty frequent smoker well into his religious studies. Its the last thing he gave up before taking his vows but now he chews gum pretty obsessively to deal with it. Cinnamon is his favorite flavor
He's a Ludovico Einaudi Fan. His favorite piece is Nuvole Bianche followed closely by Oltremare.
He has a collection and fascination for libertine erotica like the works of Marquis de Sade, Rimbaud and Foucault. He enjoys exploring the conflict between social morality and the human condition and how it interplayed with religious ideals of the time (and also he's repressed man idk)
He wears contacts!!
He used to have facial hair! He shaved it clean literally a couple days before John and he hook up in church. John was a lil peeved about it

Some Eddie things I like to think is canon:
•Eddie sitting outside the trailer on a summers night gently strumming his acoustic guitar
•Eddie feeding all the stray cats in the trailer park
•Feeding the cats with Eddie and they come and rub up against your leg and Eddie giving you the most offended look “it took forever for them to trust me” before pouting
•Eddie picking wildflowers for you just cause
•Eddie making you pot brownies because he knows you like to get high but only like shotgunning cause smoking makes your eyes water
•Eddie picking all the tomato out of your salad and eating it because they messed up your order
•Eddie playing the acoustic guitar as a background soundtrack when you’re doing mundane tasks eg cooking dinner, laundry, even brushing your teeth
•Eddie sitting on your thighs, you on your stomach, and drawing small sketches on your back
•Eddie giving you the puppy dog eyes and when you lean in to give him a kiss he blows a raspberry against your lips and giggles
•Eddie pinning up nsfw Polaroids of you around the trailer to see your flushed and embarrassed reaction
•Eddie using permanent marker to write “property of Eddie Munson” on all your underwear
•Sitting outside on the cool grass on a late spring afternoon having a deep conversation with Eddie and noticing he hasn’t said anything in a while and looking over and the boy has gotten distracted by a butterfly fluttering around
•Eddie hiding all your bras as a sign of protest “they like the freedom baby”
•Asking Eddie for a sip of his drink but instead of handing you the cup he takes a swig and leans over and dribbles it into your mouth
•Painting his minis on the couch while he sits at your feet and paints your toe nails (he’s actually really good because he has years of practice painting his minis)
•Sitting you on his cock keeping him warm when he’s coming up with a new campaign ideas cause “I think better when I’m inside you.”
•Playfully spanking you whenever you walk near him, one time he does it too hard and leaves a whole ass hand print, he’s apologetic at first but hooo boy does he get hard seeing you all marked up because of him. Kisses it better
•”what the fuck are you wearing?” - “what do you mean?” - “that jacket!” - “it’s cold outside??” - “who’s is it!” - “uh mine??” - “how DARE you, take it fucking off” he storms over pulling your jacket off before replacing it with his “don’t let me see you wearing this again” you always gotta have something of his on you
•matching clothes ✨
•Eddie ‘borrowing’ your scrunchies
•Leaving post-it notes for Eddie because the boy has ADHD and a gets distracted and forgets things so easily
•leaving little love notes in his drug box
•the group making fun of him but he doesn’t care because it makes him so happy that someone loves and thinks of him this much
•Eddie spraying you with his cheap cologne when you go out with the girls cause he knows by the end of the day your social battery will be drained and the smell of him grounds you
•Eddie using your ‘fancy’ (drug store) hair products cause they make his hair all shiny and smooth and as a bonus they smell like you
•makes you a mixed tape every time his fave bands drop a new album — you’re running out of room for all the tapes man

"On Repeat" playlist tag game
Thanks, @the-road-betwixt for tagging me to shuffle my on repeat playlist. I am a weirdo musician who doesnt listen to enough music tbh and i hate spotify so i try not to use it. lets see what pops up on my youtube history. i will also be That Girl that links everything and has a fuckin paragraph sorry, so tldr readmoreing tagging @averseunhinged bc i am quite certain you will have bands ive never heard of, same with @retoxdiet, @gemleilou and anyone who i tagged in here as reference and hasnt done it, and @notquitecogent bc hi! i liked that song that gave you kastle vibes and im curious (no pressure to anyone)
Holding a Heart - Todd Wright. ha @purplesigebert and @kirythestitchwitch this is from Fang Fridays because tvd uses another version of this song and i was lucky enough to grow up listening to the og
X Out - Extreme. I loved them when i was 15. The lead singer was so kind to me when i met him and told him my music dreams. there's something compelling and eerie about this track but it's probs nostalgia
When You Get to Asheville (Bright Star soundtrack) - my fave from the musical
Grace - Jeff Buckley. Never be over this album.
How We Operate - Gomez listened to this like 15 times in a row lmao
555 - Jimmy Eat World. definitely a change of pace for them style wise but melodically it's classic them and it makes my heart warm and ache at the same time.
Mia Resurrected - Cristobal Tapia de Veer. Huge fan since Utopia, but i think the humans soundtrack is my fave.
Your Needs, My Needs - Noah Kahan i thank @carry-the-sky for this one. god the last minute or so just kills me every time.
Parade - Heypenny idk something about this being fun but creepy at the same time is just a cool vibe
Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten - Arvo Part. Music always reminds me of times and places and ill never forget this coming on on a mix CD i made on a long drive and i just burst into tears in a cathartic way.
IM ADDING AN 11th FOR Fingers - Chinchilla (live). i watched this an unhealthy amount of times

any fave lyrics, songs, concepts and performancse of Florence you're willing to share? please
oh god uh. just off the top of my head:
grace is a perfect song that everyone on earth should hear and like the gold standard for invoking religion to me— the concept of grace in general is just so so near and dear to me, i remember having a conversation with my mom before the album where i think i literally said “it’s the only thing i’ve ever put any faith in” so like, you can imagine how much of a gut punch hearing florence just fucking wail that was
girls against god is another song that felt like she cracked open my head and pulled a chunk of my brain out— like just. so many of these songs i can’t talk about how important they are to me without several trigger warnings but like. i can’t stress enough how hard won the concept of living just to spite god was to me
in general florence is amazing at invoking religion without it seeming trite, which is like, such a high bar to clear for me.
i’ve said this on here before but i love this story so i’ll say it again: my mom grew up intensely catholic and like, really genuinely believed it, like felt a personal connection to jesus that kept her afloat through a lot of tough times. and a couple of years ago she was losing her faith in a big way, and it happened to coincide with her taking a trip to italy. and while she was there she had a day where she was just kinda wandering around florence (the city) on her own, listening to dance fever, and she ended up listening to cassandra right as she was entering the duomo which is this massive ornate cathedral, and she started openly weeping when she got to “well can you see me? i can not see you / well can you hear me? i can not hear you”, and i think about her every time i listen to that song now
i love the way florence sings about sadness as something comforting and familiar, and happiness as something difficult and painful, while still conveying how important it is to chose happiness? like, i think that’s the thing that made dog days and shake it out such massive hits, “regrets collect like old friends” vs “i’m ready to suffer, i’m ready to hope, it’s a shot in the dark aimed right at my throat” is like. that’s the human experience baby!!
on a similar note, delilah is just. so. it’s difficult to express just how much “i’m gonna be free and i’m gonna be fine, but maybe not tonight” meant to me at 18.
third eye is like, a religious thing to me at this point. like, i’m not a superstitious person at all, but i’ve noticed it always comes back into my life just as i’m about to crawl out of a dark place, it’s just. it’s such a special song for me
she gets a lot of love for her like, intense operatic bombastic songs (for good reason, they’re fantastic) but she’s also just so good at carrying a stripped down song with just her voice— sky full of song, various storms and saints, long and lost, and the bomb are all absolute stand outs to me, just based on the strength of her voice

9 favorite albums in no particular order under the cut:
*** just as a sidenote, because i like too much music, i'm doing albums i like as cohesive units. albums that hold together and tell a story. albums that i listen to from start to finish because the songs go together in a particular order in my mind, for whatever reason.
strange trails by lord huron. world's most perfect story album. need i even elaborate. maybe my favorite album of all time. the musical & lyrical motifs that carry through the whole thing, the examination of romance and death and the way they intertwine, the whole convoluted multi-character storyline that underlies it. if you like folk music and undeath and evil women, please for the love of god listen to this album.
we were dead before the ship even sank by modest mouse. world's second most perfect story album. now, if you were to ask me, hey, what IS the story this album is trying to tell? i couldn't begin to answer. but this album is just. omg. the tone is so cohesive throughout while still allowing for changes in register, concept, and overall sound. also has the best opening line to an album in the history of albums.
so much for stardust by fall out boy. okay this one's a gimme but come on. pop-punk retrospective on the state of the world since 2016? with lyricism that makes me weep? came out just weeks after i the birthday where i realized that i wanted to be alive for the first time in like three years? it's not even close.
jenny from thebes by the mountain goats. NOW LISTEN. i knowww it's just the most recent mountain goats album. why, you might be asking, did i not go for beat the champ instead? and the answer is i can only choose 9 albums and i think jenny from thebes is underrated. life-changing lyricism with orchestral instrumentation that could tear me in half. also i've talked so much about it on this blog i think it would be wrong of me not to mention it.
in sickness and in flames by the front bottoms. talk about cohesion!!!!! a whole album that is essentially a love letter to all the messiest parts of a relationship! all the characters are so interesting and flawed!! and every single one of the songs are unapologetically horny to boot. also just the transitions between songs are soooooooo good. not to be the 'jerk/the truth' guy but um. the switch from jerk into the truth is one of my all-time faves.
doom days by bastille. i'm an apocalypse junkie. next.
science from an easy chair by have gun, will travel. this is entirely the wrong blog but HEY. if anyone out there likes the terror, this album is for you. it's a story concept album about ernest shackleton's expedition to antarctica aboard the endurance. the first song i heard from it was the rescue party, which is one of the most atmospheric story-focused folk songs i've ever heard. just unbelievably emotional and smart. love it.
lungs by florence + the machine. you've seen my recent posts. howl & kiss with a fist & i'm not calling you a liar & rabbit heart & my boy builds coffins &. well. you get it.
mixtape for the milky way by mixtape for the milky way. hi fellow minnesotans. go listen to jeremy messersmith's side project album about being raised in a fundamentalist christian cult. go on. noooo it won't hurt you. don't worry it's not heartbreaking at all. it's not my favorite album of his since the silver city or anything haha that would be crazy. 👀
ok that got way too long whoops BUT thank you to the folks who tagged me!! i love chatting music so if u see this & want to make your own PLEASE tag me !!!

tagged by @cleoselene and @an-ivy-covered-summer to share 9 favorite albums!
1. evermore - Taylor Swift. I only picked one album per artist and evermore has been my favorite since it came out, it is STILL the album I turn to most frequently to listen to because I will always listen straight through, no skips!
2. The Good Witch - Maisie Peters. Amazing how quickly some girl from England became one of my favorite artists ever.
3. Melodrama - Lorde. I had kind of a bad summer the year this came out and I listened to it constantly. Now it holds a kind of beautiful melancholy nostalgia.
4. Oh Jonathan - Emily Kinney. I love all of Emily Kinney’s music but this is easily my favorite of her albums, another no-skip record!
5. Carry the Fire - Delta Rae. It’s hard to pick a favorite Delta Rae album for me (I almost picked The Dark) but their first album is still so excellent top to bottom.
6. Rainbow - Kesha. Another favorite artist, another favorite album. Such a triumphant work. (High Road is also fantastic and I will also always love Warrior.)
7. Badlands - Halsey. Honestly I think if you weren’t there you can’t get it.
8. Interstate Gospel - Pistol Annies. Miranda Lambert is one of my faves but I can’t pick a favorite solo album of hers, but I CAN pick a favorite Pistol Annies album and it is Interstate Gospel.
9. Songs About Jane - Maroon 5. There are any number of albums I loved in high school but Songs About Jane was one of the first albums I would listen to beginning to end, over and over. (Shoutout to Under My Skin by Avril Lavigne and Move Along by All American Rejects for similar reasons)

2: Who got you into the band you adore now?
6: Favourite Album?
8: Songs that you could listen to forever and never get tired of?
13: Favourite lyric?
27: What song/album do you listen to when you need a pick-me-up?
40: When did music become an important factor in your life?
46: It’s 3 in the morning and you wanna DANCE. What song do you blast to the heavens?
48: All time favourite photo of the band you currently adore?
I know you probably have fun answers :3
finally getting around to this and I’m sure I will think of other answers right after posting - so it goes!
2. fave band - the Peter Gabriel thing was a total divine accident. I was out dancing at an 80s-90s music video mashup night and Sledgehammer came on. I remember hearing the opening flute riff and seeing some guy near me contort his body in sudden recognition. the first beat hit and I can only imagine this is what people feel after doing their first hit of some deadly euphoric drug. the rest is history; I felt something in my brain go *clunk* and it was game over.
6. ahhh so many over the years but right now it’s Us by Peter Gabriel. I’m a total basic bitch for a good melody and that album is full of them, not to mention extremely relatable themes around longing, connection, “am I the problem,” and more. honorable mentions go to Age of Adz and Carrie and Lowell by Sufjan Stevens, Not Even Happiness by Julie Byrne, the original Hadestown album pre-Broadway, and O True Believers by James Blackshaw.
8. soooo many PG songs. but also: O.N.E. by Yeasayer, Music for 18 Musicians by Steve Reich, Fake Empire by the National, and many more.
13. “we took the town to town last night/we kissed like we invented it”
(not sure if this counts but the “shh…listen” at the very end of Secret World, too)
27. I tend to listen to sad music when I’m sad lol. but: the Graceland album by Paul Simon is a good one. also the song Number One Fan by MUNA.
40. mmmm to keep it brief: I’ve always been a deep feeler and music felt like the one thing that could mirror that. I grew up listening to a lot of hyper-melodic music like Yanni and inventing dances to go with it. I was in band and choir all throughout high school and college and kept singing in different groups after college. now I get such a charge out of dance, karaoke, live shows, and jamming on my uke. music has also helped me remember moments in my life, i.e. the first time I heard a Julien Baker song while driving through southern Colorado in a rainstorm. like life snapshots.
46. to pick only one: Let’s Go Crazy by Prince (a previous artist hyperfixation lol)
48. this was VERY DIFFICULT ahaha but:
Tumblr media
I just adore this photo. it captures so much I love about this goofy man. I really relate to his perfectionism and tendency to get sucked into details. I love that he’s not a do-it-in-one-take guy like Prince. he’s obsessive and kind of lost in his world. but still tries to look up and out at the rest of the world around him. plus I love that Parachute label he wore so much of in the 80s (like this jacket here). p.s. I of course wanted to post some egregious 90s photo of him but there were too many to choose from.
thanks for the asks; this was fun <3

If I wanted to listen to bull of heaven where would I start?
Bull Of Heaven has just about 650 releases in total so this is a complicated question, & it depends on how much time you're willing to give them and how u already feel about drone and noise music. I'll try to give some varied answers, but I do also think part of the appeal of the band is the treasure hunt thru their massive discography. 025: Tale Of An Earth Man and 028: Even To The Edge Of Doom are two of my favorites in the Bull's "long ambient loop" style. The former is very serene and the latter carries an otherworldly melancholy. 101: Like The First Pine Cone one of my all time fave drone albums... gorgeous, heavenly guitar drones and layered improvs. 111: Superstring Theory Verified, a lo-fi stoner rock romp with totally explosive atmosphere. One of their shorter pieces (just 18 mins!) 284: One Hour Of Fire, And Let All Be Ended! is just some good ass post-apocalyptic drone, it's been compared to Godspeed You! Black Emperor. 299: Self-Traitor, I Do Bring The Spider Love is a big fan favorite, 90 minutes of several different psych jazz rock jams stitched together in a way that makes it kinda proggy. Recommended for fans of Miles Davis's electric period. 301: Weed Problem II-V is, outside of the absurd length pieces they're known for, their magnum opus. It's just over 2 hours but it's incredibly varied (by BoH standards) with at least 15 distinct movements and showcases a lot of their sides: stoner rock jams, massive drone walls, field recordings, cut up vocal samples. Essential.
I think the excerpts of some of the long pieces--namely 118 and 209--are also fantastic. Most of these are youtube links but keep in mind that all of BoH's music is public domain and available from archive.org for free, as well as most of it being on their website. There's so many surprises in their discography that I couldn't get into here without writing a whole damn essay; arm yrself with a random number generator and get exploring!

Your Fave Band Is Reuniting – But Not For the Reasons You Think
This is a recent article about bands that are making a comeback/return tour and creating a big market for it. It talks about how it happened and how it can only grow. They don’t mention My Chem but I think there’s a lot points they make that truly fit the band. It got me thinking after seeing the constant hate Frank gets for being in L.S. Dunes and the entire fear we collectively have of them never doing anything ever again.
Some quotes:
“The reunion gig was once the most derided of shows. We expected bands to split up amid a maelstrom of drugs, fame, relationships and the ever-cited “creative differences” and then stay split up. It means there’s always been cynicism around them: one last pay packet for waning “heritage” acts who were past it, an open and frank admission that they were all out of ideas. This industrialised nostalgia was the antithesis of what the best music was always about: the thrill of the new.”
If the past few years have proven anything, it's that break-ups are rarely permanent. The truth is music is a fleeting and momentary thing: Bands break up, sometimes with dignity, sometimes in disgrace, then they get back together. That’s what happens.
“For a lot of bands when they've been together for years and years, they just get to a point where they can't stand being in the same room as each other, or they just feel like they've reached the end of the road,” … They need a break basically – and for a lot of bands splitting up provides that break.”
“It makes sense that bands play the "indefinite hiatus" card – an indeterminate period of time away before they get back together to great fanfare. … Reunion tours are big business – a sure thing in an industry where there aren’t a lot of guarantees.”
“Since streaming destroyed finances for so many acts, live performances have become a necessity. That’s even more crucial for the non-songwriting members, whose income often comes primarily from live shows”
“The gambit works especially well if the band’s primary audience have grown old and/or wealthy enough to pay the ticket prices. That means promoters can offer large sums of money to bands who they know will sell…These acts have a generation of fans who have grown up with them and are eager to relive their youth, even in a cost of living crisis.”
“But it’s not just that older audience at these gigs – thanks to social media and streaming, these acts also have new fans who have recently discovered them. “Now younger audiences can easily come across music from the 90s or 2000s, and artists are getting rediscovered for new audiences,”
“It must be really attractive [for a band] to have a chance to be relevant again, and to enjoy meeting and responding to a whole new audience. It also looks pretty fun from where I'm sitting. Who wouldn't want a second bite of that particular cherry?”
“…ultimately it’s the band’s decision. Because they have to want to do it.”
“But as much as money plays a crucial part, there’s more to it than that: It’s now accepted that reunions are a valid part of a career arc. It’s in everyone's ego to want to see your music carry on and reach a new generation; to know that people out there want to hear you – especially when absence seems to have helped your popularity grow.”
“They realise they can now play to far bigger audiences than they could do before because people weren't expecting them to get back together,”
“Reunions often run the risk of admitting that the band have nothing left to offer but a rehash of their old songs. But for acts like The Walkmen and Blur, who are, playing Wembley for the first time on their own terms and with a new album out, are doing it their own way. These shows, rather than revealing artists stuck down creative cul-de-sacs, feel more like a celebration.”
“Doing it on your own terms worked for Pavement, too. What made their Roundhouse shows so special, Wood says, was that “the band wanted that level of intimacy and audience feedback. It's also a result of their catalogue – they told me that because they played four nights, they could do 100 different songs”.
“Of course, no one wants to live in the past. And these comebacks can end terribly badly – even in a brawl, if you’re The View. But when I was at Blur’s warm-up show in Newcastle in May, it was one of the best times I’ve ever seen the band play. It felt vital and joyous: a performance that crackled with warmth and energy and, in the small, sweaty room, the band’s friendship felt palpable. New songs rubbed shoulders with songs from Parklife. The crowd was a mix of fans who were there in the 90s and teenagers dancing and singing along to every word. It showed that reunions can both nod back to the past and look to the future. As Damon sings on “To The End”, it looks like we might have made it.”
TL:DR
I think fits them with the whole just needing a break from everything and each other, we saw them slowly want to be together again with barbecues and meet ups. We saw how much it meant to them to play to new and old audiences, for Gerard to be able to be himself on stage, for Mikey to play without fear, how much love Ray had in his face, and Frank’s magical set lists. They did their best every night while they figured out how to be something different from what they were before. If they want to create new music together again, they will do so at their own time. And the industry right now is accepting of that pace. I don’t want them to do a lazy album just for the money.

WOOOOOOOOOWOWOWOOWOWOWOWOWOOO MY TIME HAS COME
I WANT INCREDIBLY INCREDIBLY GAY JAKE (FOR JEREMY) WITH THE WHOLE SQUIPSQUAD AWARE AND TRYING TO CONVINCE JEREMY HE ISNT INSANE
i don't know if i entirely got your prompt but getting to write my kids being silly is my fave thing ever so!! hope u enjoy anyways
“He definitely has a crush on Jeremy.” Jenna said, as soon as Jake left their table at Pinkberry, despite the fact that Jeremy was sitting right there.
Jeremy choked on his fro-yo. “What- no. I really don’t think so.” He said, after coughing up a lung. “You’re absolutely just seeing things-”
Then he looked around the table, where everyone was exchanging glances.
“No. No, no, you’re all- you all think that Jake Dillinger, the hottest guy in our entire school-” “Ow.” Rich muttered, in fake offense.
Jeremy continued as if he hadn’t heard Rich. “- would have a crush on me? Of all people? You’re all crazy.” “He carries your books to class.” Christine pointed out.
“Because he said he needs to carry more to work out for football.”
“He sits next to you at lunch every single day.”
“Because we’re friends, Brooke!”
“He literally paid for your fro-yo, Tallass.”
“I forgot my wallet!”
“He actually keeps up a Snapchat streak with you.” Chloe said, glancing up from her phone for the first time in the entire conversation. “He never does that with literally anyone.”
“What- not you too!”
“Believe me, if I could believe my ex-boyfriend didn’t have a massive crush on you, I would, Heere.” She muttered. “Massive downgrade, if you ask me.”
“Gee fucking thanks.”
Jenna pulled out her phone, scrolling through photos. “I have an entire album on my phone dedicated to candid photos of Jake looking at you like you’re the sun.”
“... squinting and scrunched up face?”
“I have another album of him looking at your ass.”
“Jenna! He totally doesn’t like me. And even if he did, it’d never work, because I’m a terrible boyfriend.”
Christine raised her hand. “As someone that dated you, you’re not that bad. Like, most of your issues are internal. You were always nice on dates.” Jeremy’s entire face was red. “I-” “Seconded.” Brooke raised her hand as well. “I mean, there was that whole computer pill thing, but other than that, you were sweet.”
“This isn’t helping!” Jeremy protested, burying his face in his hands.
“He sat through all of Star Wars for you.” RIch pointed out.
“He said he liked them!” Jeremy looked up, before looking around the table. “What?” “I was trying to get him to watch them with me for years!” Rich groaned. “He would never do it. But the second you offered to watch them with him, he jumped on the offer. C’mon, Jere. He’s head over heels.” “It’s kind of pathetic, honestly.” Jenna muttered.
Jeremy turned to Michael, who had been pretty quiet. “You don’t believe them, do you?” Michael hesitated. “Well-” Jeremy let his head hit the table, groaning. “You’re all liars. Horrible, horrible liars, getting a boy’s hopes up.”
“He did watch you play through all forty-three levels of Apocalypse.” “Michael!”

the pre-chorus feels really nice. like it's building up to something so happy and satisfying
the chorus is so cute tho!! 😭
hehehehe chris..... (read: FALSETTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
oh i like the switch up for the last chorus/outro
this one is so cute. very tmt vibes ngl it's so cute
:: COMFLEX ★
👀 oh? (classic skz sirens)
HEY NOW! *starts jamming*
that intro tho was perfect
jeongin!!!!!!!!!!!???????? YOU DON'T GIVE A WHAT????? (are skz saying fuck it when it comes to cursing now LOL fuck yeah)
oh the message is awesome
CHRISTOPER?!?!?!? AYO FUCK YEAH
THE DROP IS SO GOOD!!!

i love the embracing all my scars and imperfections
i knew felix would do the drop intro this time
OH I LOVE THIS SONG
the bridge has such a goof melody tho
vocalracha is killing it
CHRIS I WILL SCREAM (that intro to the drop is so hot i love that for chanlix)
oh i love that one so much
:: Cover Me
omg that first 10 seconds is so peaceful i love it
omg i'm kinda speechless. this song is so beautiful 🥺🥺🥺
my brain is so smooth for this song HAHA
that whole first section was so pretty i felt like i was being carried through it (if that makes sense)
chris has so many falsetto moments in this album and i'm loving it
"the sun will always be there waiting after the rain" damn i'm crying ig
i'm not usually one for ballads but this one hits so nicely
i think it has to do with that electric guitar in the back
hyun!!! 🥺🥺🥺🥺
SEUNGMIN MAIN VOCAL!!
omg him and chris holding those notes was so satisfying!!!
this is my new fave ballads they have (right next to waiting for us)
what? nooo i don't want it to be over 😭😭 that was so nice
need to see this in concert
:: Leave ★
WHAT IS THIS PERFECT LOFI INTRO???????????????
OMFG I LOVE THIS SO MUCH
THE JAZZY LOFI VIBE I'M IN LOVE
changsung serenading with rap somehow i love this
i thought this would be the ballad (i mean it kinda is) but this has more chill than ballad omg
feels like a jisung song
CHRIS PLEASEEEE
the chorus is soooo nice
omg electric guitar again!!! it's so good the way they use it
oooh the second verse with minho is so nice yesssss
hyunjin better stop...
ah i almost that it was over but i was like "there's one more isn't there" lol
CHANGBIN VOCALSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS FUCK YESSSSSSSSSS ALL I ASK FOR GOD
seungmin backup vocals are so good
that was so nice def a fave
:: Social Path Ft. LiSA (KR Version)
i wasn't sure how they could change much since it's a english predominant song but okay?
i'm very biased and don't like their language switch-ups most of my time but this one is okay
the lyrics sound fluid actually LET'S GO
LiSA vocals (i'm in heaven)
this is literally my dream collab you have no idea
my fave group and one of my fave vocalists ever they did this for me actually
i love the "now or never" melody so much still
i don't have that many thoughts about this one bc i liked this one before
the korean lyrics fit fine since there weren't that many to start with but this is an okay language switch-up imo (this is rare for me so know that's good lol)
:: LALALALA (Rock Version)
OH GUITARS FUCK YES
OMG FUCK YES THIS IS SO GOOD THE DRUMS!!!!
oooooo the pre-chorus is more intense instead of heavenly I LIKE IT
oh the drop feels so different ngl bc of the inst. it makes it feel like a diff song
oh seungmin's part after hyun is better in this version ngl the hits are nice
changsung raps >>>>>>
the guitars are so fucking good
the rock inst. + chris' voice is amazing
OOOOOH THE BRIDGE IS AWESOME SO INTENSE AND HYPE-BUILDING
THE MUSIC DROPPED OUT AND CAME BACK WITH HYUN LET'S GO I LOVE THAT
more caps in this version bc it's so hype
oh the hits with lix's la la la is so satisfying
hehe 24/7- anyway
this feels like this should be the live version (i hope it is)
OH! different outro i liked that outro more i think
overall i like the alterations in this version but i like the og more still
mv/performance ;
Tumblr media
so i'll keep it brief on the mv. it's not good for me. i love the color palette (browns and blacks are so so nice for me) but i really don't like it overall. they've had so many better ones imo.
it's just not for me. it kinda tainted my first impression of the song but i like it a lot more after watching music bank (i'm so excited for the studio choom)
it was a bit too frenetic and chaotic for me. it didn't go with the song that well and felt too random (a bus, a pirate ship and clowns? alien cg creatures too? too much and it doesn't go together). the editing for this mv was some of the worst i've seen for a skz mv and that's shocking to me bc they are so well-known for the editing of their mvs but i just really have no words for how messy it felt.
also the way the screen time for the vocal line felt so much more scuffed compared to the rap line tilted me a lot (i barely saw jeongin and chris in the mv and that bummed me out a lot).
overall i won't need to rewatch the mv that much. i am content looking at stayblr's gifs of the mv.
now as for the performance aspects, i really like the choreo and it really feels intense and hype. it's perfect for a concert which is always smth i think about in terms of them.
the chorus choreo is so powerful and i love the pre-chorus stuff it reminds me a bit of back door's pre-chorus choreo. like the vibes and stuff
the outro chorus choreo is so hype and it makes me bop my head as i watch.
tldr: i dislike the mv, but the choreo and energy are great!
final thoughts ;
i'm so happy my boys are back and they definitely did great with this one. is it better than 5-star for me? mmm i don't think so if i were to compare them i still love the 5-star album more. HOWEVER i really think the b-sides are amazing on this album. megaverse and comflex are so amazing and cover me and leave are so nice. i love when skz show their more gentle and softer sides in their songs since they're known for bangers. the mv nearly tainted my whole love for this cb tho so i'm def gonna overlook that. however skz never disappoints with bringing the hype energy and once again they've shown out with this comeback. they definitely made it rock (lol lemme stop). overall out of 10 i think this comeback was an 8/10 bordering 8.5/10 bc i really like the album itself. i can't wait for their next tour i need to see this stuff live >:)

what's ur fave fob song + album and why!! 🥰
EEP thank you for the ask!!! honestly i’m going to pop this under a read more bc i fear you’ve activated my autism blast.
my favorite album, to the surprise of approximately nobody, is folie a deux, and my favorite song is [coffee’s for closers] from that same album.
as for WHY folie is my favorite album, it’s taken me a long time to figure out how to verbalize it. it wasn’t the first album of theirs i bought/heard (that was infinity on high), nor was it the first album cycle that i was actively a fan and participant in (THAT was save rock and roll).
i started listening to fob during their hiatus, and for quite awhile there, it REALLY seemed like the hiatus was going to just… be a breakup. and so, folie WAS, for a long time, their swan song album. it still feels that way, in a lot of ways— in particular, What A Catch, Donnie feels like a celebration AND a funeral for the band. it’s their most complex and ambitious album made up to that point, in terms of the different sounds and instruments being used. it feels like it’s their most autobiographical album, but it also feels like it’s the one that was most made and written For You, The Listener.
“i’m half-doomed and you’re semi-sweet.” “i’m the one who charmed the one who gave up on you.” “i’m a mascot for what you’ve become.” “oh darling, i know what you’re going through.”
it’s INCREDIBLY personal, and a lot of the lyrics are from the perspective of a person who’s at a CAVERNOUS low, but… even still, there’s hope, or a shadow of it, that even if it won’t get better, at least we won’t be alone. a lot has been made of the album title and the art of the two bears representing p*te and patrick —which, yeah, it probably is that— but i think it can also refer to the band as a whole, as a symbol, and the listener. and that whole idea of facing it together, even if it’s not going to improve and you’re doomed either way… i really needed to hear that when i was a teenager. and even now that i’m older and stabler and happier and safe, listening to folie still feels like a long hug or a good conversation with an old friend.
now, why coffee’s for closers specifically? on a musical level ALONE, i think it’s a perfect song from beginning to end. that bombastic drum beat commands your attention from the start, almost like a pulse, and those gorgeous strings help to drive the song forward and carry patrick’s vocals even higher and stronger during that SOARING sweep of a chorus. it never lets up or loses its insistent rhythm, and even after it declares its finale with a horn section, the strings come back to provide a waltz, one last jubilant outro before What A Catch comes in with the emotional steel chair.
but like… those LYRICS, man!! “i want everything to change and stay the same, oh time doesn’t care about anyone or anything!!” “oh baby, when they made me, they broke the mold!” “we will never believe again! kick drum beating in my chest again!” the lyrics in the verses are all SO emotionally evocative, and the “we will never believe again” chant is so beautifully cathartic to sing along to the drum beat.
the peak of coffee’s lyrics though, for me, are the chorus. as fob choruses go, it’s surprisingly simple, relying more on a catchy melody than complex lyrics:
“i will never believe in anything again, i will never believe in anything again! though change will come, oh, change WILL come, but i will never believe in anything again!”
now, i have a LOT of trouble dealing with any kind of change in life, even positive change, and so there’s a lot of personal catharsis and Being Seen in this chorus for me that applies to my greater life. but more than that… to me, this chorus IS what fob is. no matter how old i get, no matter how much my life grows or changes, no matter the other bands and artists i’ve found and enjoyed, no matter my disillusionment and dislike of p*te… it’s starting to look pretty likely that fob is forever for me.
i will never believe in anything again. not the way i believed in fall out boy when i was a sad, scared teenager.

songs you associate your moots with?
okie anon. u didn't know this but you asked someone who takes their music recs very seriously so letsgetit (i only picked songs from my fave albums & liked songs playlist, nothing but the best for my favorite people)
@seokgyuu: dog days are over by florence + the machine - the reason i picked this for mitchie is bcs literally the WEEK maybe even the DAY we started regularly talking, i instantly felt less lonely and felt more ready to just. rebuild my life. and she gave me much more motivation and inspiration and i was just a much happier person to be on this app ;-; she's the reason i'm back to being my somewhat normal self.. i'm forever grateful for her love ;-;
leave all your loving and longing behind / you can't carry it with you if you want to survive / the dog days are over / can you hear the horses? / cause here they come
@seokmins: st. patrick by pvris but also lay me down by sam smith - i mean. obviously i had to pick the song that inspired the first chapter of my own series white noise.. but lay me down.. it's just the perfect calming song. i can't explain it but it's so elv-coded for me.. both of these are tbh. elv helps me forget the bad in my life and i hope i give her even just a fraction of the comfort and happiness she gives me ;-;
but please stay / cause i think you're a saint and i think you're an angel / i said you give me something to talk about that's not the shit in my head / you're a miracle
&
told me not to cry when you're gone / but the feeling's too overwhelming it's much too strong / can i lay by your side? next to you / and make sure you're alright / i'll take care of you / and i don't want to be here if i can't be with you tonight
@bitchlessdino: bubblegum bitch by marina - nana just kind of own bubblegum pink in my mind right now (it's also perfect for her online theme for both of her blogs rn).. i don't think this song really embodies nana in any way other than her fierce alter ego that comes out when you wrong her or her loved ones. like she is queen electra heart what can i say!!
i'll chew you up and i'll spit you out / cause that's what young love is all about / so pull me closer and kiss me hard / i'm gonna pop your bubblegum heart
@bisexualgyu: intro/forgive me by chloe x halle but also mundo by iv of spades - listen. rhys has chloe x halle energy. don't fight me on this. like this whole album is lowkey her-coded deservedly so. and mundo is a little obvious (at least for her). she knows why <3
so forgive me, forgive me / i've been going too hard in your city / so forgive me cause i'm not teary / best believe i move onto better things
&
limutin na ang mundo / nang magkasama tayo / sunod sa bawat galaw / hindi na maliligaw / mundo'y magiging ikaw
@97-liners: daddy lessons by beyoncé - picked this one just bcs it tells the trials and tribulations of growing up with a tough parent and ultimately loving them through all their flaws while also realizing the trauma they put you through. not to get deep but yeah skdjfs sorry to give you a country song jackie but at least it's beyonce 😭
tough girl is what i had to be / he said, "take care of your mother / watch out for your sister" / and oh, that's when he gave to me / with his gun, with his head held high / he told me not to cry / oh, my daddy said shoot
@gguksgalaxy: bitch, don't kill my vibe by kendrick lamar - just ready to be straight chillin'. tired of the drama. here for a good time with people who also won't cause too much drama. also just a straight up club banger lol.
i am a sinner / who's probably gonna sin again / lord forgive me / things i don't understand / sometimes i need to be alone / bitch don't kill my vibe / i can feel your energy from two planets away / i got my drink i got my music i would share it but today i'm yelling / bitch don't kill my vibe
@taeiltual: nights w u by tiffany day - just such a lovely feel good person that i love talking to and always brightens my day! this song is just bouncy and lovely just like bex in my mind <3 sdkfjs
but we don't got to talk about it / i just want to dance around / all night with you, you, you, you / cause i don't wanna feel the pressure / know that I'll be better when all my nights / are with you, you, you, you
