Finger-painted Lestat
Does he look like Johnny? Trick question, any blonde man i draw these days looks like Johnny. I guess this is my life now

at some point in my journey with every art medium ive ever touched in my life, i decide that i want to do it deliberately badly. like i want to do it ugly. it's like u learn everything technical you gain every skill n then u realize that isn't what it's about at all and so u decide to do it poorly, with intention. like i straight up want to make art that looks bad to the non-artist. but the thing is it no longer looks bad to me.

Merlin’s gaze went hard. He did not like being told he belonged to someone, especially not her. Ocean blue went gray as they darkened, but this time Morgana wasn’t backing down either. Like an immovable object rising to meet an unstoppable force, a strong cliff stood to meet the storm, her magic welled to meet his own. Land and sea, fighting to see which was the one who came out on top.
From Chapter 16 of @greendragonqueen's Arranged Marriage an ao3.
this was really fun to make.

yknow. im kinda bitter that for a while i was doing really well at art, improving all the time and doing really cool projects and then i just. got too mentally ill and Stopped. i'm really bummed about that. yet another case of burnout making it too difficult to keep up with my peers

in THEORY i want to do lots of quick sketchy comics that convey maximum story per pen stroke ratio. in practice i have a terrible perfectionist streak that i have still not managed to kill and a deep abiding love for fussy panel layouts. also my handwriting is illegible.

Upset because your art isn't as good as the one you see online? TIME. Time my dudes is the fucking answer. You gotta take time to do it. And i'm not speaking of practicing for years, i'm literally saying: if you want to sketch a little something you gotta take the time to do it. Social media fool us with process videos and quick time-lapses. Even to pro artists a sketch can take an hour or two. Don't jump in expecting that you just need to wave your wrist and you'll have a work of art in 15 minutes. That's ridiculous. Take your goddamn time. Go slow. Erase. Re do. Draw details. That's how you get art that you'll be proud of
