“Pabo-yah! We’re already late, Gyu!” Y/n huffed, stepping on the bike pedal harder.

She can't help but enjoy this moment but has he been this warm leaning close to her and less annoying?

He almost topples over along his bike seeing her presence— is he embarrassed or?

Y/n jerked her body in a mix of running towards him to check up on him and a sense of withdrawal. She might’ve looked stupid, glitching in place.

She's supposed to hide as she's still not ready to face him, but there's nothing wrong right? How is it that she's this ditzy? Why did she even think of hiding in the first place?

But she cannot stand looking at his stupid face, ridiculous how it's all for another reason other than annoyance—

“Y/n~!” Beomgyu chimes as he comes rushing to her.

He invites her to go to school together, mostly it's incoherently received on Y/n’s end as she's washed with disbelief.

Blinking a few more times, she just stands there motionless. More on how, he… Choi Beomgyu… wants to go together with me to school?

“Okay… uhm, are we taking the bus or?” The words finally reach Y/n’s tongue but her vision still cannot process much looking at Beomgyu's face.

“We can take a bike ride on the way?” Beomgyu suggests.

Okay, coming off with an odd but usual start for them.

Huh?

“Are you asking me to drive for you, or—” She starts slowly, trying to conceal her tone. Y/n is a bit pissed knowing she just came off from a fever but was dumbfounded at his answer.

“I’ll be the one…” Beomgyu says.

She perked a brow at him, skeptical of his answer. “You sure about that?”

Beomgyu promptly nods.

Being too caught up to think of even bringing up what she saw earlier, by the looks of it… was he learning how to ride a bike these past few days? She can’t even begin to look at his obvious bandages… Choi Beomgyu, you… sighs… Don’t tell me it’s because of him practicing too much? But why so suddenly? And for what…?

“Come on, Y/n, we're gonna catch up to Christmas if you still don't plan on budging.”

Y/n barely even had a chance to refuse with Beomgyu already pulling her close.

The bike ride was a little bit bumpy, but more or less smoother than expected not till they encountered some humps along the road.

“Beomgyu, slow down!” she yelps. It made Y/n cling to his torso, the vibrations of his laughter didn't help as they scurried on their way to university.

He's having too much fun with this.

“Why are you suddenly being nice to me?” She finally mustered up.

“Haven't I always been nice to you?”

“Are you kidding me?” For once she was not amused by his teasing, her knowledge of the bandages on Beomgyu’s arm added to her withdrawal from banter.

“I'm the nicest out of the crew, what do you mean?” Beomgyu appealed.

“Yeah, yeah. You're a saint compared to Kai.”

She was trying her best not to fidget in place, but her fingers landed at the edge of his polo shirt. Her pleading eyes made Beomgyu give in. And this isn’t the first time this happened to him.

“I feel bad, okay?” Beomgyu slips, but the context is still not out there for the other end to comprehend, making the girl look up at him.

“Hmmm?”

He tried his best to keep the light atmosphere, but maybe the sting on his arms urged him to reach out to her? Here goes nothing.

“You've been doing much for me, Y/n.” Beomgyu voiced out. “I didn't even realize you were tired. Last week when you still pushed through to ride a bike with you. I mean I've always seen you as a strong person, but I often forget how you hide your problems. And I at least want to give back to you.”

“Huh?” Is he for real now? But he had done so much for her in taking care of her when she was sick, and in some other instances—

“I know you don't like hearing this or me taking the blame but I know it's partly because of me you got sick. You got fatigued over carrying my big ass. And yeah, I've been a big ass for quite some time now towards you so I'm sorry.”

“Yeah, your big ass is at fault here. Definitely.” It slipped off Y/n’s lips out of disbelief that he even apologized for that, she sneers. “You're heavy up that hill when you’ve got mountains,” Y/n added, pointing at his bottoms.

“Y/n, what the heck? You're talking to me about my ass like that?” Beomgyu goes on and hides his bum with both his hands.

“Yeah, you're my ass.”

“What?”

Y/n is shocked at herself as well, did she just claim him-oh sh—

“You're an ass,” she retaliated. “A-and, you started it!”

“Nuh-uh, I heard something else.”

Is he sure he wants to guarantee what I just said?!

“It's probably because you fell from that bike from that curb.” Y/n turned her back to him quickly and fastened her pace. “Now come on, chop-chop! We're gonna be late, remember?”

Beomgyu blushed to himself, didn't know she'd catch him that way but he'd act nonchalant and turn the tides back at her.

Just as she’s secured in his back, he stepped on the pedal and took her by surprise. “So you want me as your ass?”

The emphasis on ‘your’— It took all her self-control to convert her urge to push him off into huffing out CO2. “Can we stop talking about asses?”

“Aye, sorry you don't have one—”

“Choi Beomgyu!”

“No worries, I'll let you carry mine anytime.” The obvious wink in his tone made her writhe in embarrassment. Y/n just holds onto him even though she’s going to turn this smooth ride unstable with the amount of teasing he’s doing.

“I'd rather not.”

“Okay, I'll ride along with you in whatever you prefer. But don't you want to ask me what I prefer?”

“What?” She lightly tapped him on the shoulder, even by the leg to signal him to side the road first. Without going down the bike, they just stayed there, the atmosphere between the two not as still as the raving wind. The two are slightly in regret for being too close to each other. But they’re also too stubborn to budge to hide away the obvious pumping heartbeats deafening them.

“How about you take the whole package, can I be yours?” Still not turning to Y/n, Beomgyu shakes like the leaf on the tree.

Y/n furrowed her brows, mouth agape as it’s been robbed with words. She did her best not to touch her bandages to make him twirl and turn to face him properly.

Y/n leaned in close to him but the words still not quite reconnected with her brain.

Beomgyu blushes at their distance, much the same and quite different from when she was sick. There's a hint of rose pink in her cheeks that he is quite distracted to not notice her flick his forehead. “Aish!”

“Are you sick in the head?!” Y/n fumes. “What nonsense are you spurting, do you even take responsibility for that?!”

“Yes!”

“Pabo. Let's go.” Turns her back blushing, but he easily catches on to get the bike from her. “Let's go, Pabo-yah.”

Moment of silence enveloping them, the thumping of their hearts still quite not simmering down their caged bodies. The only thing distancing them are the bike handles they’re walking in by other ends.

“Are you serious?” She almost blurted way too loudly to her liking, it came off breathless. “Be mine?”

“Be yours, be my baby. Whatever suits you.” Beomgyu directly stares at her but he’s also on the verge of melting in his scarlet cheeks. But he had to stand his ground and make this clear. “And okay, I know Yeonjun and I get on each other's nerves a lot but the last time just pushed me to admit it, okay?

“The randomly brought up comments about ‘cutie’ and ‘GF’ thingy with me?”

“So you were listening to that time— but that’s beside the point, you’re more than that, Y/n.” Okay… it’s just that he did push me to admit that I like you. I like you, Y/n. Not to sound like a high school kid but I like-like you, Y/n. To be clear. And I'm sorry for being an ass most of the time but you know that it wasn't meant to hurt you like harm you.

“I know, Beomgyu,” she admits, finally without that mask of pride of wanting to one-up him, as there is no means of doing that right now. As of right now, she’s also seeing Beomgyu as he is, without their childish attempts to get into each other’s skin.

And why did they even begin to do that, and since when?

That is not for this agenda to go through, Y/n just laughs in disbelief, but it’s now about her whole belief system being rearranged about this man standing so close to her.

Without any ounce of fake-built grudge, she warmly smiles at Beomgyu.

“Same here. I like you.”

It really showed through more in her vulnerable state, and that time he took care of her when she was sick in bed resurfaced a lot of things in the past as proof he had been looking out for her all this time. Even though it is mostly swept under the rug forcibly by the guy himself by the amount of teasing and bantering. He was hiding it under the guise of being a prick when he’s actually soft on the inside.

But it’s all no longer for naught.

Aish, Choi Beomgyu. We really went all through that as it’s more fun that way huh?

“I bet Soobin will say ‘Took you guys long enough!’” The thought brushed past Y/n, making her shake her head in all this absurdity.

“I’ll add another 5,000 won if Taehyun says ‘I almost got sick of your bantering!’”

Calculating the closeness and blurting out her summation, she marveled at the near future expectation. “Now they have to deal with us being lovey-dovey, huh?”

“Heol.”

The duo, as if in full sync, made fake barf noises, then burst out laughing. Y/n and Beomgyu unconsciously intertwined their fingers until fully wrapped around each other, giddily holding hands on the way to the university.

So the feelings were hindering them, and they concealed it underneath all that cat and dog masquerade.

But what’s sure for her is that she’ll certainly ride along these feelings and where this would take them, together.

TXT Reaction to Another Member Accidentally Touching Your Breasts

Mellow speaks: Here's the HC post I was talking about, and I hope you guys enjoy it (especially babygirl lol)! Also, it isn't really smut but close enough, so that's what the tags are gonna be.

Yeonjun

He's always been like this. One to flail his arms a lot while he speaks. And having had years of experience seeing him do just that, Yeonjun doesn't exactly mind as he watches Kai use gestures to prove his point. He's enjoying the younger's antics, laughing at them, even, but that is until he sees you, walking into the room with your eyes glued to your phone.

He opens his mouth to beckon you over, his smile widening at the sight of his partner. But that soon changes, as his focus shifts to the way Kai's hand hits you, smack on your left breast when you attempt to skirt past his movements. That's all it takes for Yeonjun's mood to go sour, his eyes narrowed as he looks at the maknae with annoyance evident on his face.

Kai is obviously scared of his fate, and to be honest, he should be. But as your boyfriend's eyes meet yours, he feels a sigh escape him, his feet carrying him over to you as his hand gets wrapped around your wrist, pulling you into his chest and catching your lips in a quick kiss. Yes, with his own hand placed on your breast now.

Soobin

All Taehyun is really trying to do is hand the book over to you, a smile on his face as he begins thanking you for lending it to him in the first place. But as luck would have it, his plans pretty much go down the drain when the book slips from his grip, his hand instead coming to rest against your chest, an invitation to impending doom.

"Why's that?," you might be thinking, fully aware that it was an accident which doesn't mean much. But in your boyfriend's eyes, it sure does mean much more than it actually is, his usually friendly demeanor taking a turn for something more sinister. He's not as strong as the younger physically, and Soobin knows it well, but that doesn't stop him from pulling the younger away from you anyway, a sneer on his face.

"Watch your step," is all he says, a true leader even in that moment. Though it isn't all that hard to notice the look of anger on his face as he takes the book in his hand, only to chuck it onto the sofa before placing a hand on your arm, ready to pull you out of the room.

Beomgyu

In Soobin's defense, it actually is your fault that things turned out this way. Not that Beomgyu is going to let him say that, but it's still something worth saying. All the poor bunny-faced guy wanted to do was catch a quick rest before practice, but your boyfriend and you obviously had different plans. And much to his dismay, those plans just had to involve scaring the shit out of the leader, enjoying the way he never fails to fall for your pranks.

So really, his hand flying and hitting your boobs was actually just him trying to be defensive, his bleary, sleep-filled eyes failing to see what he was getting himself into. The result? A friendly but not-so-friendly punch making its way to his shoulder, and am angry-looking Beomgyu doing what he does best. Tease the hell out of him, calling him a horny perv and whatnot.

And as if that wasn't enough, half an hour later finds Soobin roaming the halls of HYBE, in a fruitless pursuit for the "mood maker" so that practice can begin, because the younger is busy fucking you raw inside an empty room.

Taehyun

Taehyun enjoys hanging out with Yeonjun, and the fact that you do too, is more than a blessing for him. But at the same time, it's no denying that it does get on his nerves every time the two of you start playing around and teasing each other, your laughs just a little too loud for his liking as he's forced to be the voice of reason despite not wanting to be. And when the elder hugs you or spins you around? That's pure torture to him.

So it's not really a surprise that as he finds you in his best friend's arms once again, it's quick to take his temper to the topmost notch within seconds. And to think that's not even the worse, because the very next second, he's forced to watch as Yeonjun's hand grazes your chest, an amused laugh escaping his lips as he realizes what just happened.

Next thing you know, Yeonjun's collar lies ruffled along his neck, your boyfriend's eyes glistening with rage as he all but snarls at him. "Don't you dare cross your limits," is what he says, his voice deadly calm as you feel his jealousy seep through the room, letting you know how much trouble you're in.

Huening Kai

He's bothered by the proximity between his groupmate and you, even though he knows he shouldn't feel this way. He should, after all, be thankful to Beomgyu for having saved your ass from falling flat to the floor due to your clumsiness. But he just can't bring himself to do that, his eyes narrowed at the sight of the elder's hand so close to your chest, a hint of awkwardness in his voice as he talks to you.

And that's the reason why before he knows it, he's walking over to the pair of you, a fake smile plastered to his face as he throws an arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer to himself, right where you belong. "You should be more careful, babe," he tells you, nodding his head as a way of thanking Beomgyu for helping you.

But there's something.....off about him. He appears to be cheery, but that cheer seems different somehow. You can feel his jealousy in his touch, but there isn't anything you can actually do about it, apart from waiting around to be shown that you belong to him, later that night.

Im here to give my two cents worth opinion about shipping members and smut 😭👋. I’m ngl i do find shipping members together worse bc like idk I always see it on twitter and it’ll be like literal gay porn and they’ll be people like ‘yeonjun top beomgyu bottom’ about the porn and it makes me really uncomfortable and weirded out or members will be having a normal conversation and then people want to make it into them fucking each other or something and I just find it really odd like they’re literally family 😭 it feels like incest 😭they’ve said multiple times they’re like family and it’s clear they have a family relationship bc of how many years they’ve known each other that it feels weird when people ship them. Liking relationship dynamics with other members and pairing of relationships is fine obviously some members are really cute with the way they interact but if that was me and my close friends I see as family and people are posting porn and shipping us sexually I would feel weirded out.

Especially since it’s pretty much all straight women saying this it just feel like fetishisation of mlm relationships that’s why I don’t really like using ao3 bc it’s all mostly gay ships and smut on them written by straight females fetishising and shipping just in general I find it pretty weird when straight girls write gay smut or watch gay porn bc it’s the same as straight men watching and fetishising lesbian porn idk that’s me personally 🤷‍♀️. I feel like smut on a members isn’t that bad (personally if I was famous and found smut on me I’d want to read it and find it funny 😭) bc you’re writing about an imaginary person and even when writing smut on the members I don’t actually see them as them it really is just muses and changing their personality and setting but the people I’ve seen on twt don’t seem to ship the members as muses type they genuinely ship as I think that’s weird.

But if you’re writing a little cute fanfic or something and want to use members as a muse for characters and it’s lighthearted then I think that’s totally fine but the people I’ve seen don’t see it that way and love to fetishise sexual mlm relationships. Idk that’s just me though 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ my opinion could be very wrong 🧐

I see your point! I don’t think opinions can be wrong, so you’re good with that. I personally don’t really have much to say about this topic, but I do get where you’re coming from with the incest bit lol 😂 I also get the point that in fics they’re more like muses than writing about their actual personalities or how they are in real life while the shipping community might do the opposite (as in thinking they’re actually together).

if you've been here from the start, you might know that i didn't originally plan make a series! i just word-vomited the first chapter (well, what became the first chapter) directly into tumblr's post editor because the thought of prince!yeonjun wouldn't leave me alone, especially after seeing a few other prince/commoner and prince/servant fics floating around lol. chapter 1 is also the only chapter made using tumblr's legacy editor rather than their new one (which is also why the cover pics are one big edited photo and not 3 separate photos, i couldn't figure out how to get 3 photos to line up in the legacy editor).

i honestly did not expect people to read chapter 1 but they did!! and they liked the idea!! plus even after writing chapter 1 i STILL couldn't get the idea out of my head so i decided to write it as a full story. i've written plenty of oneshots before under my (non-kpop) ao3 account, but this is my first multichapter series! so i opened google docs and made a quick outline of the story's main events.

the original outline for foec had 6 chapters + 2 endings, but as i wrote the story, i realized that more detail and scenes were needed than what i initially outlined! chapters 3 and 4 (ball preparations + the ball / gazebo dance scene) were supposed to be one chapter. chapters 5 and 6 (y/n hanging out with the chois + getting caught + punishment + intro of arranged marriage) were also supposed to be one chapter. chapters 7-9 (end of friendship, reconciling with soogyu, y/n & beomgyu talk) were also supposed to be one chapter!

i actually started writing the bad ending first before the good ending -- my reasoning was that if i were the reader, i would want to save the good ending for last so that i could end the series on a positive note. i was very surprised when people voted for the good ending first in the poll LMAO also as far as i'm concerned, both endings are canon in a "branching timeline" kind of way. they are both the real ending! i do have a soft spot for the good ending but also i love angst too much to not write a bad ending haha.

honestly most of the story beats from my original outline made it into the final fic! the biggest change has to do with queen hwayoung's and princess ajin's roles in the story (more on that below).

character notes:

when i was first brainstorming i really wanted to include both taehyun and hueningkai in the story as well, but i struggle with writing ensemble casts and choi line + y/n (+ the supporting characters in the castle) were already enough for me to handle. soobin and beomgyu were the easiest for me to incorporate into the story since they have the same last name and i could go "oh in this universe they're part of the same royal house hence the same last name" HAHA. i do imagine that the house of choi princes are also friends with tyunning (kai does get alluded to in chapter 9), but they're off doing their own adventures.

some of little moments in the fic were inspired by actual things txt have done in variety shows! yeonjun, y/n, soobin, and beomgyu playing cards in chapter 5 is based off to do ep. 53 where they also play cards. soogyu playing badminton in chapter 8 is inspired by gbgb era idol human theater where they played a little badminton by the pool. and there are a lot more small character quirks that are inspired by gifs or fancams i've seen of them haha.

queen hwayoung and princess ajin were originally not supposed to be part of the story! my original idea was the have the arranged marriage subplot be heard secondhand by through advisers so that it feels like an invisible force pulling yeonjun away from y/n. but i needed to make the threat of the arranged marriage stronger and ended up writing the scene with queen hwayoung in it for chapter 6.

princess ajin especially was a late addition -- originally she was never supposed to appear at all, never visiting the castle and only speaking through her mom / royal advisors, so there was that threat of yeonjun being married off to someone he's never even met. but after looking through the feedback of chapter 6 i realized that i kinda-sorta accidentally made setup for her oops. people were wondering what she'd be like, and it would feel too anticlimactic to never have her appear in the story, so i wrote her in. which i don't regret because i did enjoy writing her big scene in chapter 10!

speaking of which: a friend of mine asked what happens to princess ajin, and honestly i wanted to give her proper closure too! but i couldn't find a way to fit it into the story in a way that felt natural. if you ask me though, she gains some level of political independence from her mom (represented by her visiting the castle in the good ending). she still marries for political reasons, to a prince or nobleman who is also in it for the politics, and at first they treat their marriage as a business partnership. eventually they grow close and form a devoted "i'd do anything for you" bond -- not necessarily romantic in nature, but caring in its own way. (i'm describing a queerplatonic relationship basically)

tbh i don't have the energy to write another multichapter right now, but i would love to see spinoff fics for soobin and beomgyu or even taehyun and kai as princes in their own kingdoms! so if you're reading this and you want to do it, you have my blessing <3

flower notes:

while some chapter titles were planned around a specific flower representing the events & progression of the story, others were not (because of the chapter splits i talked about earlier) and i just chose whatever flower was in it lol. the planned chapter title flowers are: yellow roses (ch2), pink roses (ch4), sunflowers (ch5), striped carnations (ch7) , purple hyacinths (ch9), red roses (ch10), daffodils (GE), and white lilies (BE). the unplanned title flowers are: irises (ch1), lilies of the valley (ch3), red and purple zinnias (ch6), sweet peas (ch8).

i mostly used this website as a reference for the language of flowers, BUT i also double check with one or two other websites to make sure i'm getting an established flower meaning and not something made up! when i started fic planning i made a list of flowers with meanings that fit the main story beats and character progressions, then picked the ones with the most established meanings (i.e. supported by multiple "language of flowers" websites) and/or the ones that were appropriate for the growing season.

even though i wrote a disclaimer not to pay attention to botanical accuracy re: seasonal flowering times, i originally envisioned the fic to take place over the spring. then when it got longer, i imagined it taking place over spring and summer, so i tried (keyword: tried) to choose seasonally appropriate flowers or flowers that bloom year-round. this is hard for me because i live in a tropical country. i have never seen a lot of these flowers in person because they don't grow in the climate here, and i have no idea what a four-season year feels like. so i decided not to put time-of-year markers in the fic and leave the season ambiguous, and added that disclaimer about the flowers' accuracy.

an example of this: chapter 9 is named after purple hyacinths. i first decided on this back when the story was only supposed to take place during the spring, since hyacinths are a spring flower. i considered naming it after hydrangeas because they mean something like "thank you for understanding" (i.e. y/n going "thank you for understanding what a hard position i'm in" to yeonjun), and also because they're one of my favorite flowers. but i wasn't sure about their seasonal appropriateness since some sources said that they bloom during early summer so i changed it to hyacinths. BUT THEN the fic got long and i started imagining that the later chapters take place in the summer SO the hyacinths ended up being seasonally inappropriate after all! and hydrangeas would have been more appropriate! especially since txt literally has a song called hydrangea love out aarghhh noooo but anyway it is what it is

other flowers that didn't make the cut + their meanings: sweet william (gallantry), alstroemeria (friendship or devotion), freesia (friendship, thoughtfulness), white tulips (forgiveness, consideration, respect), thyme (courage, strength)

other notes:

the key lime pie in chapter 6 is based on a real pie that i ate at my friend's house when i visited her there and i thought it was the most delicious thing i have ever eaten. in the original draft it was a lemon tart!

i wanted to keep this series strictly sfw, but i did consider making both the good and bad endings have suggestive, fade-to-black scenes. for the good ending, the suggestive part would have involved y/n in yeonjun's room the night after their speech / before waking up together. for the bad ending, it would have happened when yeonjun visits y/n's quarters. i didn't write them bc i... am not good with anything suggestive or nsfw klsadjfklasjd

I COMPLETELY FORGOT BUT Y/N'S FATHER WAS ALSO IN THE AUDIENCE FOR THEIR SPEECH IN THE GOOD ENDING... i have no excuse for not writing him in other than I Forgot. i am so sorry but please imagine he was there

4. I’ll go by member, so I’d say Kai 😭 I never tend to have fully fleshed out ideas for him like I want to, and I’m afraid I’m writing him the exact same way everytime.

10. Hybrid!Beomgyu, Demon!Kai, Hyrbid!Kai, Soobin and Yeonjun in lvl infinity.

11. I don’t rlly have any fics that I come back to, I usually just read something once and then move on 😭

13. Bad grammar, and really long paragraphs. Also when there’s improper use of dialogue. Like when they have three different people talking in the same paragraph, it sets me off omg 😭 I try my hardest to make sure I don’t accidentally do that. As for reading, though, I don’t rlly like when things are rushed, especially in smut fics. Like in one paragraph, the idol and reader meet and then in the next they fucking, like it’s too fast lol, it doesn’t give me time to really immerse myself in the reading.

15. Writing the end, the beginning is hard enough, but I usually have no idea how to end a story. And I hate editing in general, which is why I have you, but recently, I’ve been trying to get these fics out quickly 😭

beomgyu…can you imagine a beomgyu unhinged but with a tinge of red on his cheeks, pulling you around at your hand, intertwined pinkies and matching friendship bracelets that actually mean so much more than just friends but hes too shy and youre too shy to do anything about it. (I can hear “vibes” by chase atlantic play in the bg tbh) its so many giggles and late night stargazing and trips to the end of this world just to find out that home can be everywhere as long as the other one is with them. oh also: HANDSHAKES. Idc if you think thats childish, you have one with beomgyu and its beautiful okay.

taehyun…the two go together so well that ot4 just assumed you were dating the first time they met you. its the kind of relationship where the two parties balance each other out just perfectly, a beautiful harmony. he makes you feel calm and you make him feel brave. you would visit every concert of theirs and he would always find you within ten minutes no matter where you were standing. he would come over late at night to watch a stupid boring movie with you that you both would abandon for a conversation about space and the importance of peppermint tea. Of course you loved each other. taehyun just needs that final push (bet that push would turn out to appear in the form of choi beomgyu)

hueningkai…ah yeah, so much teasing you both over the obvious puppylove you two shared. It was so innocent and pure and really built on a deep and trusting friendship and maybe that was what made huening (and you) so insecure about admitting feelings because what if the other person didnt feel the same and then everything was ruined??? scary thought right? So in the meantime (yeonjun would get kai there, dont worry yes) there would just be 3h phonecalls and matching plushies and shared clothes and jewellery and maybe handholding??? maybe…on a bold day hihi

You're back at last, and despite having had been away for months on end, it seems that the campus you had come to adore over your years as a student hasn't changed one bit during your absence. No, it's still the same, buzzing with people both known and new, some roaming across the gravel and others seated at the benches. The fro-yo shop at the left-hand corner catering to a whole line of of expectant customers, and the sound of Kai's voice, slightly off-note on purpose to "attract listeners" (his own words, not Taehyun's) filtering through the speakers and telling you it's time for the radio's afternoon show. Yeah, everything's the same, and boy are you glad to be back.

Don't get this twisted though. You were more than grateful for the opportunity of going to Australia for the exchange programme, and you're even more grateful as you think back to all the interesting stuff you learned and all the sweet memories you made during your stay. But that doesn't mean you didn't miss being back home in Seoul, didn't miss your weekly trips to the fro-yo counter just to get a student discount. Didn't miss seeing Beomgyu being weird in class, or didn't miss sipping on your latte with Taehyun while judging Soobin as he tried to ask his crush out (something he finally did manage to do while you were away, much to your dismay).

And most of all, it definitely doesn't mean you didn't miss a certain someone, because you did. You did miss him, much more than you'd care to admit. The late-night and early morning video calls weren't nearly enough to fill the void that having to navigate your days without him had left inside your heart, and it's no lie that right now, you're counting down the minutes till you can meet him again. That's the thought you have in mind when Kai's voice breaks you out of it, a giggle to be heard from the tiny intercoms spread throughout the balconies and roofs of the buildings.

"You're favorite boy Kai is back!," his high-pitched tone carrying through the air as a groan from Taehyun follows soon after, their wordless banter making you let out a chuckle. "Some things never change," you mutter to yourself, tuning in to the news segment just so you know all the juice before stepping back into college life. But what you hear instead is nothing short of a scream of excitement, a gasp slipping past your lips at the suddenness.

"Now as you all know, our lovely Y/N, the heart of our campus, has come back from her trip to Australia. And as her best friend, I think it's my duty to-," Kai says all to happily, only to be cut off by Taehyun's panicked voice as he says something that makes you raise your eyebrows in surprise. "I'm sorry for that Yeonjun. Everyone knows Y/N's your best friend, Kai was just being stupid. Ignore him,"his words bleed through, the mention of a particular name making your ears perk up.

Yeonjun. Choi Yeonjun, the clueless campus heartthrob and your best friend since first year of college. Despite being a year elder to you, his annoyingly adorable ways did help him wiggle into your life, and eventually, your heart. You hadn't planned for it to happen, but how could you not melt when he was always popping up by your side at random times, just to "steal you away" and take you to his spot, the small room on the rooftop which he claimed to have discovered. How could you not melt when he was always there to stop people from waking you up when you fell asleep in the library, threatening to blast them off to space if they ruined your nap.

Yet, all you had thought of it was a simple crush, confident that it would go away when you left for your programme. But as your eyes scan the grounds and halls for any signs of his mop of hair (which you know from all the selfies is blue now), you're not so sure anymore. Because how can you be when the past few months, the only thing that's been keeping the homesickness at bay has been his constant words of encouragement, his efforts to sneak in a "Good morning" and "Good night" every day without fail, despite it not being an obligation.

Yeonjun has been nothing but supportive of your effort to broaden your horizons, and he's been telling you the same thing over every text message and through every video call, day in and day out. He didn't need to put it into words, it was plenty evident from the way he told you he said "I miss you" but never lingered on that thought too long, afraid of making you change your mind. And if you had expected the softness in your heart to go away as the skyline of South Korea had receded into the distance, his actions and gentle sure did prove you wrong.

That's why, here you are now, letting your feet carry you through the corridors of the university, your eyes peeking into every nook and cranny in the hopes of discovering the person you're searching for. Your best friend, after all, is the person you want to meet first "He was supposed to meet me near the archway," you mutter to yourself, shaking your head a little as you continue down the halls, turning up no luck in the cafeteria or even the dance room, the two places you know he loves the most. Except......

"Of course!," are your words at the very next moment, your hand flying to your forehead as you think of the one place he can be. Before you know it, you're jogging, your feet slapping against the hard ground as you make your way towards the gymnasium hall. Why, you ask? Because in case you've forgotten, that's the building whose top floor happens to be the home to the radio room, the place where you had, quite literally, run into a wall during your freshman year, on your way for an interview.

The wall in question, rather obviously, was the toned chest of none other than Yeonjun, the hottie who was notorious for being absolutely in the dark about how he made head turns and hearts ache with a simple smile of his. That was your first meeting with him, but by no means did it become your last, the stars aligning in a way to orchestrate meeting after meeting. Soon enough, he was your co-host on the morning show, the sleepy expression on his face as he walked into the station with a boba in hand making your cheeks flush every morning.

To put it short, it was bit too adorable for you to handle. His hair a little messy from the shower, and his cheeks still puffed-up from the late-night snacking, something he had told you quite early on was his favorite pastime. And that wasn't all he had told you either, his witty oneliners and quirky, completely random thoughts always managing to catch you off-guard as you got ready for another "Wakey wakey" over your mic. But your chemistry with him was undeniable, the Y/NJun duo quickly becoming a fan-favorite. And with that, blossomed the beginning of a beautiful friendship with the man you had affectionately come to call "Jjun."

The rest, as they say, is history, your mind swimming with memories that threaten to make you smile and weep at the same time. "He must be in there," you think to yourself, turning the last corner between you and the gymnasium. But the very next moment, you're suddenly stopping, skidding your feet against the gravel as you let out a gasp. It takes you a minute to process the sight in front of you, your eyes scanning over the giant blue and pink banner that welcomes you back.

That's not all that's waiting for you though, because right under the banner, stands a whole group of people, the figures of most of them rather easily discernable as they face away from you. That is, until one of them, one with a fading blue haircolor, starts to turn around, the smile that you've missed so much finally greeting you in the face. And then, you're running again, actually dashing this time, your form throwing itself at Yeonjun as your arms get wrapped around his shoulders, his own snaking around your waist.

Next thing you know, he's lifting you up, laughs to be heard from everywhere around you as he spins you, his own laughter rumbling through his chest. It's in that moment that you notice the tears that are now streaming down your cheeks, the months of being away from him hitting you like a truck. Everything fades away into the wind, only Yeonjun and you being left behind, at least in your mind's eye. It's just the two of you, perfect like always, not needing anyone else.

When he puts you down, it's like you can't being yourself to tear your gaze away from his eyes, his head bent slightly as he looks down at you with the softest expression on his face. "Hi," is all you can say, finding yourself at a loss for words the longer you stare at him. It's hard to fathom that he's finally there, finally in front of you, and not just waving at you through a screen. This moment is perfect, and you don't want it to break. Ever.

Except it does, a giant Soobin lurching in to steal you away, hugging you super tight and crying about how he missed you. It's not like you can bring yourself to be mad at him though, because you did miss him too. After that, it's an slew of hugs and kisses and shouts of "Welcome back." The kisses, of course, are from Beomgyu, your eyes voluntarily flicking over to the eldest among you to gauge his reaction.

But he's not there, making your scrunch your brows in confusion for just a second until Taehyun pulls you to the side, complaining about everyone, especially Kai. And all you can do is laugh at that, your heart warming at getting back all the things you missed so dearly. It's mid-laughter that you hear Yeonjun's voice cut through the air, your head turning towards the sound as yet another gasp slips past your lips. A huge cake, bearing your face, is what greets you, a grinning Yeonjun looking at you expectantly.

"Surprise," he whispers, smile widening as your eyes move from the cake to him and back. After what feels like an eternity, you finally manage to squeak out a "I- Jjun-," only to be cut off by a feminine voice. "It's so nice to meet you at last, Y/N," a girl comes into view, his voice warm and his smile friendly. But she's someone you don't recognize, aside from the fact that she seems a couple years younger. "I've heard so much about you from everyone, especially Yeonjun," she quips, sticking a hand out for you to shake.

But you only look at her in confusion, your face morphing into one of perplexity when she links her arm with Yeonjun. "Your Yeonjun," your mind says, though he's not really yours to keep. Not yet, anyway. Seeing you zoning out, your best friend is quick to spill out an introduction. "Y/N, meet Sara, a freshman and my-," he begins, but it's the girl next to him who completes the sentence, saying something that you're not sure you hear correctly.

"His girlfriend."

Girlfriend. Yeonjun has a girlfriend. That's when it all comes crashing down.
