After he’s finished laughing at Iskall, the two of them start working together to finish drying off Iskall’s clothes. Beef knows full well that if he doesn’t, the man will almost certainly spend the next week naked, just to spite Beef. It’d go against the spirit of the message, to have Iskall turn around and strip because of it.

“I still can’t believe you filled my house with fishes! After I spent a whole ten minutes getting them for you!” Iskall complains. “You do not understand being neighborly. It’s sad.”

“I told you, the more fish you got me, the better your interior would be. You should be grateful, really. Many people would only dream of getting to sleep with this many fishes. It’s a much kinder warning of what will happen when you mess with me than some people get,” Beef advises. “Big Salmon isn’t very happy with you.”

“Sleep with—okay, first, I cannot sleep with salmons, because it gets all my clothes wet. I respawned underwater, Beef!”

“Well, better not upset me more,” Beef says.

“Second, I do not know phrases well. I thought that was a… a saying meaning that you kill them, when you make them sleep with fishes? I thought it was a crime thing. I did not think—sleeping with actual fishes was involved,” Iskall continues.

“I find that in my line of work, double meanings are handy to really drive the point home,” Beef says. “You’ll never know how you’ll sleep with the fishes next time, after all.”

“Right. Okay. Sure. Third: since when were you in Grian’s weird fish cult? Because, dude, I don’t know if I would have spent a whole ten minutes gathering salmon for you if I knew you were in a weird fish cult.”

Beef huffs, offended. “Not a cult! Thats the wrong—I assure you, religion has nothing to do with Big Salmon, just profits and salmon-related—hold on, wait, did you say Grian?”

Iskall stops, confused, from where he’d been airing out his jeans next to a campfire, nearly setting the article of clothing on fire in the process. Beef and Iskall are promptly distracted trying to put out the pants fire, and for a moment, Beef nearly forgets his conversation. After the now somewhat singed and somehow still not dry pants are rescued, though, Iskall remembers.

“Anyway, yeah, Grian. I didn’t think you were involved with him. He made a whole weird cod cave and everything. I think he was trying to worship some ocean fish thingy. It was weird.”

“I don’t know how to unpack that,” Beef says.

“You’re doing it too!” Iskall accuses.

“No, I’m making legal business decisions,” Beef says. “I think I would know if I were in a fish cult, especially one for something as gauche as cod.”

“Technically the cult is about a mending book,” Iskall says.

“Okay, sure,” Beef says.

“He tried to tell me it wasn’t a cult too, but dude, it definitely was. I am judging him. And also you. Get better things to do.”

“It’s not—you are misunderstanding. It’s a family,” Beef says.

“Still don’t get it,” Iskall says.

Beef groans and rolls his eyes. “Like the Godfather.”

“Oh! You are trying to kill me, but for dramatic crime reasons! I get it now. You know, the whole salmon thing still seems a little creepy though, especially with Grian’s cave. Are you sure…”

“Absolutely positive,” Beef says. “I can’t believe you accused me of following something Grian started. I’m offended.”

“Shouldn’t you be more offended at the cult thing?” Iskall asks.

“You’re the one with the giant monolith. You’re one to talk,” Beef says.

“I don’t see how that’s related,” Iskall says.

Beef looks across the neighborhood to the giant looming grey obelisk, covered in runes and filled with esoteric blocks Iskall had collected from all of the hermits. He looks back at Iskall.

“Yeah, fine,” Beef says. “Let’s just finish drying out your clothes.”

“You owe me even more now,” Iskall says.

“I absolutely do not, don’t even start—”

yk this is kind of a question i've been dreading! because a lot of people can answer definitively - they'll give names, urls, blogs.

but uh.. I really don't know? I mean there were some deviantart blogs in elementary/middle school that inspired me then, but since? I couldn't say! My style has evolved from me doing my own thing, I suppose. I'd take little bits from other people's tutorials/advice and then stitch it into my own Frankenstein's Style.

And you get this magical feeling inside of you, that you’re so warm, and calm, and perfectly safe and sound in this very moment. And you feel like you could stand there forever and just… take it all in.

Why do people ship Narinder and the Lamb?

YOU ARE ONE OF TWO PEOPLE IVE MET ON THIS SITE THAT HAS ANY FORM OF RELATION TO THE GAME THAT SEEMS TO NOT SHIP NARILAMB!

Oh I do ship them! I suppose from what I've seen it started out as like a very common joke? How most of the players that spared Narinder after defeating him ended up marrying him

Plus there's the whole mini quest series you get from him in post game where it seems he warms up to the Lamb and even ends up thanking them, I think that's pretty cute :] even if you don't ship them you could probably see them as unlikely friends at the end of it.

Then there's the domino effect of the ship being popular: people enter the fandom, see the ship is popular, then start shipping it as well because why not? Shipping is one of the biggest fandom fuels, so it's rather not surprising that the fandom latched onto something like that!

And, in the end, the creators seem to encourage the ship on Twitter a whole lot! They retweet art and interact with the community a lot in that regard, even having made some jokey official art with the two in a position where they'd be seen as a couple (as Mary and Joseph in a parody artwork for Christmas).

Nothing wrong if you don't enjoy the ship in the end, as long as you're respectful to the people that do! (Which goes both ways, of course.) The game has a lot to offer and the relationship between the Lamb and the One Who Waits is the one we get most of, so I don't think it's overall very surprising people choose to focus on them a whole lot!

Hi! I just followed you after seeing your post about Moon Knight where you said, “I find the treatment of Marc Spector by fans and even the people who worked on the show kind of strange.” I’ve seen what you mean with the fans but what do you mean about the people who work on the show?

I don't know if you watched Assembled: The Making of Moon Knight, but in it, I can't remember who it was, but someone said that had they started the series with Marc instead of Steven, they'd be fighting an uphill battle the entire series.

I don't love that comment for a couple of reasons. It makes it sound like they viewed Marc as a difficult character, and I don't think that's true. It also makes it seem like they're sort of out of touch with their audience. I'm not saying you should pander to your audience, but you should be aware of what they connect with. Some of the most loved characters in Marvel are characters are those who have experienced some sort of trauma and struggle with it. For example, Loki, Bucky, and Wanda.

I understand that Steven is "easier" to connect with throughout the show because we are experiencing everything the way he is. He's confused about what's happening, and so are we as an audience.

Also, it seems like there isn't the same amount of love and excitement for Marc as for Steven. I get it, Steven is a very different character than we've seen in the MCU. He's also a very different type of character for Oscar. So, I get the excitement, but Marc is deserving of the same excitement and love Steven has and continues to receive.

I think there is a bigger issue with the men who write for Marvel when it comes to their male characters who have experienced trauma. For example, the whole idea in TFATWS that Bucky has to atone for his time as the Winter Soldier as if he isn't the victim in that situation. And how Loki is doomed to an eternity alone at the end of Loki even though his worst fear was ending up alone.

This is more than you asked for, but I wanted to elaborate. Also, this is just my perception of things. I'm not saying it's fact. It's just how I feel based on everything I discussed.

All of that being said, my point is that Marc, Steven, and Jake all deserve love. One of them isn't better than the other, etc. These characters are so complex and compelling, and Oscar does one hell of a job playing them.

I don't know how I'd ever convey this in art but. Thinking very deeply about how in boy king au, a very crucial part of characterization is that Seb is a wolf in sheep(or lamb more specifically)'s clothing and Fernando is a sheep in wolf's clothing.

Seb is very unassuming, very delicate, seemingly very vulnerable and malleable. But, deep down, he can be very ruthless. It's in the the way he hesitantly declares war, with a spark in his eye and a suppressed smirk. In the way he challenges someone to a card game or a horse race, proclaiming that he's not great, but winning every round and prancing around the room and mentioning it ad infinitum. The way he's able to instantly turn the tide in a debate in one fell swoop. By showing all his cards constantly and letting himself be vulnerable, he's making himself invulnerable. No one would ever consider him to be able to make big moves, so he wins every single time, because no one even thinks to expect it from him.

Fernando on the other hand, is constantly committed to having a looming presence and harsh reputation, but deep down, he's soft. He knows what happens to people when they're vulnerable, and he's not going to let himself be taken advantage of. The way he keeps a brave face when being informed of the marriage proposal, but goes back to his room and cries. The way he proclaims that he was always going to be the rightful ruler of Spain, but confides to Flavio that he never thought there was any real chance of it ever happening. The way he takes himself so seriously in public, but inside feels so giddy whenever he can make someone laugh. Everything to him always feels unstable and ready to crumble at any moment, and he's not willing to contribute to that by letting himself relax.

I think thats why it's very difficult for them to get along at first, because they have completely different approaches to how they carry themselves and make their way through life. Seb is confused at Fernando because he feels that he's very bland and overly serious at first, but truthfully he's not really seeing the actual Fernando. And Fernando finds Seb to be naive and easily taken advantage of, but that's because he's never seen Seb at his most cruel. Seb really loves when he eventually gets to see Fernando being vulnerable, and Fernando really admires and respects Seb when he sees him being serious. I think it just takes a while for them to show the other their full and complete selves, even the parts they can sometimes be ashamed of. There's this very compelling dichotomy in Seb laying out all his cards, but still being very difficult to read, and Fernando keeping his cards to his chest, but his intentions often being easily seen through.

Duck hits different when you're no longer thirteen and in the throes of navigating friendships for the very first time and defining yourself by your social ineptitude.

Hello! I have come asking for you to info-dump about the the modern human au. I full of brain rot of them (especially after the last thing you posted about them, damn) Maybe you can tell us a bit more Sally!!

lucky for you, i've been full of that good ol brainrot As Well! thoughts! feelings! ideas! i got em!

so since we're already on the subject of the Crash Arc, allow me to expand on it for a moment before i get to Sally Thinkings! if you've read the snippet, you may have noticed the extent of Wally's injuries was not listed yet. well! he got messed up with a capital F! since it's fiction and i'm god in this scenario, i'm veering slightly away from realistic damage, immediate & lasting. bc lets be real. if i stuck to "this is as realistic as i can make it", then Wally would be aaaaaabsolutely fucked. it was a bad crash in a very unsafe vehicle at high speeds. like - this is what happened. a drunk driver hit Home going 70 down the freeway. swerve, fishtail, tumble down a (small, shallow, really its more like a glorified ditch) ravine with trees and rocks and shit on it. absolute miracle that Wally didn't die in the crash, let alone during the solid half hour (slightly longer) he was trapped in Home before someone noticed the crash site and called emergency personnel. Wally "hanging up" on Barnaby was actually the impact jarring him so he slipped and hit the end call button. but yeah without going into technicalities and detail, Wally has some lasting damage in his dominant hand. It takes extensive physical therapy for him to be able to paint/draw again at the same level he had been at. the hematoma hadn't done a lot of brain damage that wouldn't resolve itself with time. in my mind, when Wally wakes up in the hospital, for a few days he's very confused and his memory is shot. he'll wake up, interact, then go to sleep, but when he wakes up again its like waking up for the first time again. he just can't retain memories for a bit. he's got some severe brain fog. his mood is also kinda fucked with - he's uncharacteristically irritable with low patience, etc. these are all things that clear up with time, but in my mind Wally has chronic migraines going forward. bad ones! and there are days where it's harder fr him to concentrate. and yk. a teeny bit of chronic pain where his shin bone was pinned back together and where his hand was essentially crushed. but other than that he's fine going forward! good days and bad days!

but enough about that! You Want To Hear About Sally!

i imagine that she becomes quite successful in the theater industry. i'm not too familiar with it myself, so i'm gonna be uh. Vague about it? but she starts her own theater troupe - it's a bit of a commute from home base to the town she works in, where the theater is located in, but she makes it work! of the group, she's probably away more than any of them. working on shows, traveling to work on other ones - i like to think she's been on Broadway! she probably has had opportunities to do tv/movie acting, but idk... i feel like Sally would be like "nah. live shows or nothing". maybe at some point she takes up voice acting gigs, as long as she can do them from home. she probably has her own little room-turned-VA-studio thing. idk how that works either! it seems right! but yes Howdy's store's automated messages and advertisements are in Sally's voice. she's probably picked up a temporarily modeling gig here and there.

so Sally is very very busy. Poppy is supportive. everyone is, and they all love to help out when they can - and reel Sally in when the "stardom" starts to get to her head. they do their best to acclimate to occasionally getting jumpscared by her voice in a grocery store or in. idk. fashion shoots. victoria's secret billboards. that last one was a joke! maybe. i think she would.

i also like to imagine Sally like... getting some sort of award and then spending a solid five minutes naming her friends, thanking them with specificity, and then plugging their own stuff. they probably have a rotation for who accompanies her as her plus one for events and parties she may or may not be invited to. she's not like... a Big celebrity but! she's Known and Liked! she has Connections! i like to imagine her and Wally looking dapper as fuck at a Venue...

so the friend group typically stays together, with Sally going off to do her Things the most. she makes sure to schedule time to be with her friends and girlfriend/wife/Poppy between work and gigs and etc. she somehow finds a balance with Ease. or apparent ease... someone get this girl a vacation...

I won't lie, all of this OC talk is making me quite glad of that decision to make OCs for myself only, going as far as making it a rule not to share them or my writings with anyone for years. It was a blessing in disguise, because I went from finding OCs a stressful performance that had to be perfect and not cringe, to them becoming my little happy island where I could creatively thrive and have my own fun on my own time. Self-doubt never stood a chance to ruin it for me because I was the only one around to enjoy them and it was all tailored to just my own tastes with no outside influence but what I liked *dabs* Even now that I am starting to share them, it's not as scary as before, because it just means my tastes are different than other people's, and that's okay. If anything, me being so unapologetically okay with it makes it even better when others actually appreciate my stuff, because that means they like what I made while being 100% myself!

That said, I'm very aware that it still had its own downsides (wasn't easy at first, I had no one to go feral about them with, all was very lonely indeed) and we human beings instinctually crave validation from others, but I strongly encourage y'all to channel a bit of that energy into your own OCs. The moment you realize you can do truly whatever you like with your brainchildren is the moment you'll taste true freedom and reach a new level of enjoyment for them.

Seriously, who cares if it's a little boring guy that's cringe? It's your guy, you made him yourself for yourself! That is nice and amazing by itself! Actually, go ahead, make the most boring and cringe average OC ever that gives you the good vibes, then go eat the most embarrassing/boring comfort food you like as a reward! I guarantee that if I read about that guy, I'll probably wish I had made that boring cringe guy and I'll want to know more!

And what if someone doesn't like them like you do? Well…
