Buck smiled sinisterly, tightening the garrote around Army’s neck. The man struggled under him, pulling at the wire with his bare hands, while his feet dangled desperately. “Give it up,” Buck whispered.

He crammed both ends of the garrote into his right hand, pulling the left one up from behind him to stop him from loosening the grip.

“I said give it up.”

The bracelet vibrated two times. The device was in place. He smirked, twisting the wire until the man’s face relaxed, collapsing against him and then sliding down onto the floor. Buck’s arms held him from under his pits, letting his head fall silently.

He breathed heavily, tapping two times back on the bracelet, then kneeled down next to the body. His fingers tugged at the man’s sleeves, pulling his wrist in. Fuck. He wasn’t dead.

The machine Army was working on made a roaring sound. Buck lifted his head. A tap on his bracelet.

Boom.

His fingers worked diligently, pulling one of the guns out of the holster, and taking the safety off.

The car alarm blasted. His ears perked up. Take it, take it, take it. He heard voices, coming from somewhere around him. Outside the room, but how far exactly? He tapped on the bracelet. Nothing.

“C’mon, Eddie,” he mumbled, standing up and grabbing the man’s foot.

Click. The power went off.

Buck moved fast, dragging the man across the room, behind the bigger machine. He let his leg fall with a thud. There was no time. He took the gun, and-
