Understanding Lennon McCartney Rewatch Part 2.4
It's in the paper that Allen Klein was involved in 40+ lawsuits and John doesn't question it? At this point, I feel like he just didn't want to let Paul be right about anything. 
My question is who did that work on before? I mean who fucking does business like that? Let alone business with the most successful man in the world.

John's complaining about Paul being too good at his job is both hilarious (what the hell is Paul supposed to do with that) and sad (it shows just how far their musical relationship has degraded from partners to rivals)
How did they lose Northern Songs? Genuinely, if anyone can break it down for me I'd be so grateful. Anyway I'm sure it was devastating for both of them. “Who'd have the children?” “Dick James”. 
I know I'm insane, but can I be allowed to see a glimmer of goodness here? I really do think it's John's kinder side winning out when he decides not to lie. Like, yes, he gets a buzz off of watching Paul go white at his words, but I think he also just – in that moment – didn't have the heart to trick Paul into staying.

But also. Why are we trying to maneuver Paul at all if the end game is for John to leave? It just doesn't make sense to try to trick Paul into signing the contract unless John's divorce threat is at the very least not meant to be final. 
I will never understand this picture. Even in the emotional state he's in, he's still hamming it up? There is something seriously wrong with this man.

I do find it interesting that the fact that Paul cried his eyes out after that meeting isn't even mentioned in the doc. I wonder why. 
Let's put the bizarre, super-warped timeline in this quote aside for a minute. Apparently the depression started after Brian died and it lasted for about two years and John was still in it during Pepper. Okay. That aside . . .

I have to assume this negative lense on what I can only assume means the period between 66 and 68 is highly influenced by hindsight bias. I agree that John was depressed at the time, in an unhappy marriage, doing too much LSD, etc and that looking at Paul's prolific talent and expansive , fast-paced life would have been maddening. But everyone go back to the end of part one really quick. He looks extremely happy. He sounds extremely happy. Everyone who knows him says he's never been happier. I think he just can't accept right now that there was so much good and he's lost it.

But also. Are we just not going to talk about the fact that Paul dumped a bucket of garbage water and punched this person? And are we not mentioning the depression and alcoholism and heroin abuse during this time?
It's so embarrassing how he looks to her for confirmation here. John, they asked you what you think. Just you. Not some complicated definition. Not Yoko's definition. Just your own thoughts.

“I couldn't wait for them to make up their mind about peace or whatever. About committing themselves.” Yeah, John. You sound real committed to peace. Or whatever. Here's a theory that anyone can shoot down if they want: John asked Paul for some kind of commitment (a friendship wedding, a partnership contract, a mutual wanking pledge) in India and Paul was a chicken about it. 
What was that day like, I wonder? I imagine extremely stiff and professional and horrid. But who knows. Maybe it was nice, and maybe that made everything worse.

I will go to my death believing that instant karma was for Paul. 
Do we think John actually did send Paul “about twenty postcards from Denmark” all covered in hearts none of which Paul responded to? Paul could be just as cruel in his lack of reaction as John was in his over reaction.

I'm sorry but that is not what a man says when he's just lying to the press to buy time for business. That's what a man says to the press when he's trying desperately to communicate with someone who he can't get through to any other way.

But really, I just don't understand why the creator chose to minimize Paul's emotional response to John's divorce statement. If we don't see him bawling his eyes out and losing the will to live, he comes off like a self-assured, uncaring, jerk. Which. To be fair. John didn't see those things, and that is exactly what John thought of Paul during this time. But still. The audience now comes away from this doc with a skewed view. 
All we get is Paul being pissed off about Phil Spector butchering Let it Be without his consent and John and George trying to change McCartney's release date without his consent. Which are both a) understandable and b) strong, male, angry reactions. Making this section portray Paul in the same one-dimensional hyper-masculine way that John so often is. Which isn't my favorite. But hey, it's my only complaint about this doc so far.

"What is the Better Bones AU?"
I'm so glad you asked, convenient question-speaker!
Better Bones (BB) is a full-series rewrite project that seeks to have a more conclusive stance on anti-authoritarianism, revamp the bonds and beliefs of individual characters to make more interesting drama and politics, and overhaul the progression of morality and history throughout the timeline to make the society of the Clans into a living, changing culture.
To do that, we've got 5 goals;
Fix the tangled family tree and give it clearer rules, expanding on kinship between cats while not neglecting friendships
Make the environment accurate to northwestern England, including education on how different biomes are managed and lists of local flora and fauna, to understand how environment has impacted Clan culture.
Build out technology by giving the Clans tool use and food preparation, additional traditions and customs, their own language, and medicinal treatment guides from sniffles up to HRT.
Change the themes of canon by addressing its problematic elements, giving the cats consistent politics and making the narrative conclusively anti-authoritarian.
Be cool as fuck, with wilder deaths, more clanborn villains, bloodier battles, and even MORE complicated innerClan drama
BB is told in notes and outlines, with the "end point" being a full skeleton for the entire series complete with chapter-by-chapter notes, which anyone would be able to write out fully, just as if they were a ghostwriter being handed a draft.
This project is open-source. I encourage you to take any inspiration from this AU that you'd like, or use the Clan culture expansions for your own projects. They don't HAVE to be warriors-related, we have a few folks who like to apply parts of this project to Rainworld! Go bananas.
I only ask that you don't steal any drawn art (as seen in the fanart, character summaries, and culture expansions) to pass it off as your own. Please respect the contributions of these artists.

these are great questions i will now come up with answers to bc they're mostly vague in my mind before the actual timeline starts! lmfao
a domestic thing -- ava is obviously, like, incredibly gifted at charming people anywhere, at any time, doing anything. i think bea is a little terrified at first when she starts bringing ava to stuff — trivia night, the climbing gym, even just over to mary + shannon's for dinner — that everyone will immediately love ava way more. or, even worse, that bea will suddenly be expected to be the same kind of charming, to love attention in the same way, to laugh as quickly. but it's not like that at all, obviously: everyone is Delighted by ava & also delighted by bea — quietly, in a way that's still comfortable & happy for her. at the climbing gym ava tried adaptive climbing, like, one time & was like 'no ty lol', but he still loves to come & watch. bea is... quite serious, but ava isn't, so in like ten minutes ava's made friends w all of the people bea enjoys climbing with. the next time bea comes to climb, no one expects anything differently from her, but they ask after ava, a few of the boys tease her for having such a cool, hot partner (fondly, & she loves it), they invite ava out with them for beers saturday. i think they open up each other's worlds in different ways but the crux of it is the same. love them! as @princington said 'they're so tangible' & like they rly are
another domestic thing -- bea can't cook. she's abysmal at it, even after cooking classes. she tries to cook for ava One Time & it truly is so inedible ava just kisses her & orders pizza. she can make eggs, barely, & that's about it. ava tells her they're the best eggs, though
last domestic thing -- they're a big slipper household. at first ava thought it was kinda cute that bea was partial to a nice pair of teva slippers (also, of course, had to tease her) but the second ava tries them he's like oh fuck yah, i get it. needless to say, as he justifies bc of his difficult circulation system but rly just for fun, he gets... a Lot of slippers lol. also bea steals all of ava’s beanies. it’s only fair
in the context of this au, i don't think ava's ever rly been sold on being cis lol. even as a little kid before the accident, ava was happy to just play & imagine & sing & dance. their mom never forced them to Be A Girl, & ava didn't mind, really, when they were in the orphanage, but it never felt like it truly fit. not in a dysphoric way, but just that it was limiting. ava's body was confusing, was hard to come to terms with in that it wasn't the same anymore, they couldn't feel all the things they used to love. so when they finally had the opportunity to like go Be Queer, be in community, her world Opened Up in the most beautiful way. ava LOVES the playfulness & expansion of gender & the body, the control she has over not having to fit in a box. the world is so, so big & so, so lovely, & u know ava also HATES colonized ideas of anything lol, so it just makes sense. in undergrad they had some good trans buddies but also like... drag? LOVE. so it's rly fun for ava, especially with good people
hmm i think bea probably wanted top surgery from day 1 of puberty on but didn't realize until late in college. after a lot of reassurance from her friends that she didn't have to be a Trans Man to want to try a binder, she did, & p much that first night she knew bc she just felt so much better, like her body made sense & she could just relax. idk if bea ever rly feels gender euphoria but she does feel a lot of peace & so that's cool. probably she tells cam first, maybe lilith & cam together, that she wants surgery. by that time they're already in med school & also... they both know lol & so they're rly happy for her & they make her lots of snacks & take care of her afterward. lilith keeps her out of the gym for months even tho bea complains that she's bored & will be so out of shape, cam makes a bunch of food frequently. they're a little family & it's a rly joyful, quiet, happy time; she feels very lucky

The minute I saw this from Ami I was like "omfg of course you can have it queen <3" and the minute I saw it from you I was like "wouldn't you like to know, weatherboy."
Anyway, I really loved the Transcendence AU when I was younger and looking back it really was (and still is! people still write for it!) a beautiful thing to exist. The setting itself was so expansive and ripe for worldbuilding. The basic rules of the universe were so simple - 'the near future, with supernatural creatures and demons and magic!' - and opened up so much room for creativity and fun. The timeline was on such an expansive scale literally everybody could have an OC and they didn't even need to rub shoulders. Reincarnation topics meant that everybody got to write their favorite character AND make them an OC. The big creators made such great OCs that they became part of the universe and lore of the series. And for me, specifically, it was SO GEN and very family and worldbuilding oriented with almost NO shipping. I think at least some of the mods were ace and it was just the most ace-friendly fandom I'd ever seen. Haven't found that again lately.
I reread 'Return Rebirth Rewrite' and got nostalgic. I always had a mental image of how Lionel's deal with Alcor went, and then I decided to experience the absolute joy of finally having the skill to put to paper something that's always been in your head.
If you HAVE read RRR it's been a while, so TL;DR in a way that preserves the fun of the story underneath- RRR is about a normal twelve year old kid Dipper living with his reincarnated sister and loving father and discovering that he was actually a demon named Alcor in a past life.
Very short transcendentally self-indulgent fic under the cut. Hey, as it turns out, Alcor is FUCKING HARD to write.
Was it fate?
One class taken to satisfy a college requirement, chosen because it didn’t conflict with his Book-Binding class, spiraled into a certification. A high school ex-boyfriend that bought her cigarettes and induced a lifelong habit. Parents were dead - nobody to talk him out of it. Maybe it was a storm of factors that blew one decision into motion, a decision that would have stayed unmoving and silent if he’d taken the nurse’s advice and gotten some rest. Or maybe Lionel was just the sort of person who would always end up here, crouched in a motel room far from home, summoning a demon. Maybe he was weak.
Maya would have said that the love was too strong. But Maya was gone, and an oak tree grown too large collapsed under its own weight.
Lionel bought the supplies from the occult store in a daze. The past two hours had been a blur - he barely even remembered making the decision. A certification to archive the occult meant that he’d read dozens of books on demon summoning. He could do it in his sleep, and was practically doing so. He chose the best demon for the job with a distant, unaffected logic, and borrowed the motel office printer to print out a reference picture for a summoning circle. 
This was the stupidest possible thing to do, but he wasn’t stupid. It was a good summoning. He chose the best demon. An informed insanity. The only thing he didn’t do was write down his script for the deal. No need. It wasn’t exactly complicated. And writing it down would have made it real, and he couldn’t afford for anything to be real right now, so the resolution would have to stay in the making.
The summoning circle was drawn with a steady hand. The candles were lit with a decisive lighter tab. The summoning invocation was recited in a clear, firm tone. Passive voice. Dr. Gomez would have taken points off this essay. Would have taken points from his brain. Was he insane? Was he going insane? Was this insanity?
Lionel only really snapped back to reality once he was confronted with it. The candles flickered, then extinguished. Shadows bubbled and rose, snapping free of their outlines and leaking forward in pure blackness. Sulfur blew into the room on a gust of cold wind, as if standing by the shores of the sea. Lionel opened a portal and brought a demon into reality, and brought his own mind with it. 
He only properly realized what he had done once Alcor the Dreambender loomed before him. Maybe that was the first cruelty of a demon. Now he was going to bargain away his soul knowing exactly what he was doing.
Alcor was black and gold, a humanoid figure of shadow latticed with blocks of gold thread. Imprints of wings patterned the motel wall behind him, extending his presence in the room until he was almost crowding out Lionel. The top hat floating above his head was, incongruously, a regular top hat. Maybe? Lionel had only read about the top hat. Was that what top hats looked like? Why not a powdered wig? 
“Who dares summon Alcor the Dreambender?”
A desperate man, Lionel thought frantically. But he couldn’t exactly say that. 
Power stances, seem in control, take a stand. But Lionel wasn’t in the mood to pretend he was fooling everybody. His legs gave out from under him, and he slumped to his knees. Alcor angled his head downwards, somehow visibly unimpressed and bored. 
He should have prepared a script, but he would have forgotten it instantly. Lionel ended up speaking from the heart. The books said Alcor liked that sort of thing, but it wasn’t really a calculated move. He didn’t know how to do anything differently.
“Maya’s dead,” Lionel said plainly. “Maya’s - she’s my wife. Dead. Um - the baby.” 
Alcor’s unimpressed air tripled. Lionel couldn’t even muster shame. 
“The baby’s not going to make it. Respiratory distress syndrome and pulmonary hemorrhage. Respiratory failure, soon. I need - I need your help. Alcor. Please save my baby, Alcor.”
Alcor was unmoved. He crossed his arms and sighed, like a particularly exhausted doctor who had seen one too many desperate patients that day and honestly couldn’t give a shit anymore. “Another day, another little sob story. Let me guess, you’ll do anything?” His tone turned a little nasally and mocking. “You’ll even sell your soul, Mister Demon, just save my special little baby?”
The pointless mockery jolted Lionel back down to earth. Every piece of literature warned about demonic games and cruelty. Was this cruelty? It just sounded like somebody who didn’t even care. 
“Yes,” Lionel said. He wasn’t the kind of person who took the bait. Used to drive Maya mad during arguments. “Heal my baby. Make her strong and healthy and never sick. And - let me live the rest of my natural life, then take my soul. That’s my terms.”
Bored, Alcor said, “I can give you ten years of life before taking your soul.”
Lionel’s head snapped up, and he met Alcor’s eyes for the first time. At a certain point, the demon had crossed his legs and began floating in midair, one elbow propped on a folded knee and chin buried in his hand. His shadows had lightened somewhat, and now he appeared only like a man covered in shadow. “I can’t do that. Ten is too young to lose a father.”
“That’s your issue?” Alcor tilted his head, dark eyebrows arching upwards. “Not ‘thirty five is too young to die?’”
“Am I here because I give a shit about myself?” Lionel cried. Wasn’t that obvious? If the worst moment of Lionel’s life was tedious to Alcor, shouldn’t this be obvious? “I can’t leave her without anybody to love her. She won’t have anybody else. Please, come on - I know you don’t - don’t understand, but I can’t leave her alone.”
“Trust me,” Alcor said, flat and bored, “if there’s one thing I understand, it’s parents abandoning their kids. See it all the time. Your little girl would get along fine without a father.”
Demonic negotiations weren’t supposed to go like this. Lionel was too emotional, too confused. And despite Alcor’s boredom and distance, the topic seemed oddly - personal? Could that possibly be correct?
“That’s not what I want for her! I’m giving up my soul for her life, I want - I want it to be perfect. I want to tell her how much we wanted her every day. I want her to grow up with a dog. I want swimming lessons and birthday parties and vacations and - and all of it, Alcor. I have to be there.” Lionel took in a deep, shuddering breath. “Thirty years. That’s the maximum I’ll give. The life I want for her needs me in it. It’s already missing Maya. I won’t take any more from her.”
Alcor was silent for a second, long enough to make Lionel’s heart leap in his chest, before he finally sighed. “You’re one of those people who loves too much, aren’t you? People like you always lead unhappy lives.” He straightened, dropping down onto the floor and walking forward. The shadows slowly receded, and a man’s face began to emerge within Alcor. “Fine. Let me see the baby first before we shake on anything. An angelic act like this takes up a lot of energy. I’m not being hard on the price just to be mean, you know.”
Lionel stepped backwards. He knew that binding circles didn’t work on Alcor, but it was another thing to see him casually step outside of it. He was wearing the same antiquated clothing as in the illustrations, like a mannequin from a museum come to life. Like a haunted piece of the history Lionel loved so much, pulled from its rightful place by his sheer desperation.
He looked like anybody else. A complexion like Lionel’s own, mud brown hair gravity defying and framing a young face. He looked as old as Lionel. It put his exhaustion into sharp perspective - not an ancient demon wearing the form of a human, but just an old man seeming much younger. Or a young man grown too old.
It was even worse to look up at him now, and Lionel scrambled to his feet. He looked around the hotel room, as if the baby was about to roll out from underneath a bed. “She’s not here. She’s in the NICU. Please don’t teleport into the NICU, you’ll cause a panic.” 
“Bossy. Don’t worry, this is perfectly safe.” Alcor held out his hands in front of him, like a child waiting for a treat. “And…tah-dah!”
Lionel’s baby dropped from midair into Alcor’s arms. He almost screamed.
They said she’d die without intubation. Her tiny presence in Alcor’s arms should kill her. But Alcor quickly pressed a blunt finger onto her forehead, and a warm blue glow wrapped itself around her body. She slept soundly, swaddled in thin blankets, so tiny and skinny and red that she could barely be mistaken for a human baby at all. Lionel looked at her and saw a premature animal that would never grow up and become a person - a life form that would never even wake up. Seeing her in Alcor’s arms was stressful, but in a sideways way she seemed to fit.
“Let’s see the damage,” Alcor muttered to her. Bizarrely, he held her carefully and well. “You’re like a can of beans, you know that? Few hundred years ago you would have been DOA. Now look at you. Wrinkly cutie -”
Alcor halted. The last of his shadows fell away, and his eyes widened.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Alcor whispered.
The only thing worse than a premature baby at death’s door was a premature baby at death’s door that surprised a demon. Lionel stepped forward, hand half-outreached. “What? What’s wrong?”
Alcor didn’t respond. He just stared at the baby, eyes wide and frozen still. His lips mouthed something, but Lionel couldn’t make it out.
“Alcor?” Lionel asked hesitantly. “Is there something wrong with her?”
That jolted Alcor back into awareness. He looked between Lionel and the baby several times, shoulders drawn back, almost with new eyes. Suddenly and strangely, he seemed a lot more human. “Do you believe in fate, Lionel Sterling?”’
There was only one way to answer that question truthfully - with any sort of certainty. “If this is fate, I must have done something horrible in my past life.”
“Not how that works.” Alcor’s eyes were locked on the baby, as if he couldn’t tear himself away. He seemed almost dizzy. “Lionel. You really want her to live a long and healthy life?”
“I - of course.” 
“You’ll be the best father you can?” Alcor held the baby a little closer to his chest. “She’ll be the happiest kid in the world?”
“That’s what I want,” Lionel said helplessly. “I want that more than anything.”
“How nice.” Something heavy and frantic was churning in Alcor, and Lionel began to have the worst possible feeling. “I’ve been bored, you know. So bored. So bored I’ve been pretty depressed. Things just seem meaningless, you know? My last friend died years ago. I’m not really close with anybody right now, not even family. I’ve been wondering what to do about it. When I get bored I get a little weird. Maybe I’m a little weird right now.” Alcor looked up at Lionel for the first time, and Lionel realized with a cold shock that his eyes were just as wild as Lionel’s. “I feel so far beyond weird right now it’s almost funny. But it’s not boring, so it feels like a good idea.”
“Can you give me back my baby?” Lionel asked quietly.
“New deal.” Alcor’s face split into a grin, wild and insane and light. “I’ll heal your baby. Perfect health guaranteed. And! She will have certified, bona-fide Alcor protection her entire life. Nothing lethally unfortunate will ever happen to her or to you. Protection for both of you and good luck for all. Double and! You’ll keep your soul. Hell, you’ll definitely live longer.” 
For a second of complete stupidity, the deal seemed fantastic. The deal sounded amazing. Any deal that didn’t include losing his life or his soul was better than their first arrangement. But Lionel was desperate, not stupid. “What’s the catch?”
Alcor looked down at the baby, rubbing his thumb against her forehead. Quietly, he said, “I’m going to reinvent reality to give her a twin brother. Your end of the deal is to take care of him like you take care of her. Raise him as if he was your own son. That’s it. Easy.” Alcor paused a beat. “Well, not that taking care of kids is easy, and I can guarantee that this one will be a bit of a brat, but probably easier than dying. Dying’s pretty easy too, actually -”
“Like a changeling?” Lionel asked, alarmed. “You’re not taking her away, you’re just - adding a child?”
“Yup. Like a buy one, get one free sort of thing. I guess it’s like a changeling!”
“That’s it?” That still sounded too good to be true. “Will the child be evil or anything? Will it hurt the baby? What species will it be?”
“Who cares! This is a sweet deal and you know it. You can’t afford to say no and we both know that too.” Alcor shifted the baby into one arm and extended his other hand, wreathing it in blue flames. “So do we have a deal?”
Alcor was right. The extra child situation was bizarre, but two sets of diapers was infinitely better than a ten year lifespan. This was probably the best deal anybody had ever gotten for such a big favor. He couldn’t afford to press it.
“Is this going to fuck me over?”
“Lionel,” Alcor said, and for some reason he seemed dead serious, “I’m trusting you here. More than I’ve trusted anybody in hundreds of years. You’re a good person. I promise you’ll only regret this a little.”
And Lionel knew that was the best he was ever going to get, so he reached out and shook on it.
The blue flames enveloped him, a brief second of white-hot chill, before they extinguished. Lionel shuddered, and he felt something strange deep in his soul - as if something and hooked a chain around it, or bolted it to a surface and let it squirm. 
Alcor unceremoniously tossed the baby in the air, letting her blink out of existence and hopefully back into the NICU. He clapped his sparking hands, grinning maniacally and remarkably human. 
“Time to wrap up my affairs! Better write a goodbye note to Mike, leave a few emergency charms for little Alice - oh, give them Lucy Ann’s contact information for emergencies, let her know where I’m going too. She hovers. The Flock bleat and bitch if I don’t tell them where I am, so I better elect a president or something and let them self-govern. This is going to be fun! And bizarre! Don’t worry about a thing on your end, Lionel. Get some rest, and your reality and memories should be completely rewritten by the time you wake up in the morning.” Alcor reached out and clapped a reassuring hand on Lionel’s shoulder, as if the reassurance would actually make him feel better instead of a lot worse. “Trust me, you don’t want to remember this. It’ll make your life a living hell. Unless you like that sort of thing?”
Inanely, Lionel could only say, “I don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep tonight.” 
“Really? I’m a Dream Demon, I can help! I want to be nice to you.” Nobody who actually wanted to be nice to somebody said that. “Here, close your eyes. I’ll knock you out. You’ll sleep right through the restructuring of the universe, promise!”
“Wait,” Lionel said, “on second thought, I really -”
“Night night!”
A soft index finger pressed against Lionel’s forehead, and all went dark.

can you elaborate on your fnaf au? im not sure I've heard much about it before!
in the wise words of my dear friend luca, my au is like the "secret good fnaf" that lives in my head ^_^ a lot of it involves making sense of the timeline while still trying to keep most major events included in the lore, and i suppose i might as well elaborate on what the timeline is like since i've brought it up!
bite of 83 (cc dies) -> charlie's death -> fredbear's shuts down -> fnaf 1 opened -> missing children's incident -> fnaf 1 closes -> william kicked out of company(+ both william and henry withdrawing from the public eye and laying low for a while) -> sister location opened -> elizabeth dies -> sister location closes -> fnaf 2 opens -> bite of 87 (jeremy hospitalized but alive) -> fnaf 2 remains open for a while actually -> michael goes and gets scooped (early 90's?) -> william fucks around as dave -> william gets springlocked (1993) -> fnaf 3 (2023) -> fnaf 6 (2024?)
its not exactly finalized, since my main focus when storytelling is pretty much everything set before fnaf 2 (the tragedy is what's most interesting to me, as well as the characters and their emotions, and i dont have a lot of ideas for what to do past elizabeth's death). i am trying to think about how to develop that further, but the fnaf lore is just kinda. sooo ridiculously massive and expansive at this point it takes a lot to fully fledge it out.
anyways i sent this list in a prior ask but i'll put it again because it gives a pretty good idea of what my au is like: -less sci-fi, more paranormal like old fnaf -willry canon for shits and giggles (past tense)(they are like a divorced couple) -semi-good dad william (until the horrors) -more complex character dynamics, personalities, etc. -relationships expanded upon -more focus on the tragedy aspect -a mildly comprehensive timeline! -transgenderism (william is trans bc i believe it in my heart to be true) -ends at fnaf 6/pizza sim! From what I've seen online, the major consensus amongst HP fans is that Cursed Child is NOT canon ( and many simply pretend it doesn't exist). I remember when it first came out and was being promoted, both the stage show and the published script, and everyone was really excited for new HP material... until we realised that it just... wasn't canon... at all. Yeah, the idea of Voldemort as presented in the HP novels having any sort of romantic relationship with Bellatrix and having a child is simply ridiculous and certainly just exists as a way for him to have a secret child for reasons of the wacky plot... it's very tween fanfic and also very Disney channel sequel (like the og villains all having kids we never heard about is totally a real Disney channel thing).
I remember it being very clear at the time that it came out that any "pointers" or "ideas" JKR provided to the actual writer of CC must've been the very barest of bones, the tiniest of shards perhaps, because it simply read like a sort of AU fanfiction written by the most casual of fans... which, as I understand, it really was. At the time when it came out, it was pretty clear that she had very little to do with actually writing it, though I suppose more was made later of her 'involvement' to legitimise it. I heard since that someone asked her if it should be considered canon, and she said yes? Not sure how this interaction actually went down as I don't particularly care to look into it (since nothing will change my mind that the AU of CC makes no sense within the context of HP canon and lore and it was probably some kind of marketing tactic in support of the stage play) but as she clearly didn't actually write CC herself and it contradicts many things from the books she did write, I'm pretty happy to continue ignoring its existence.
What do you think of Fantastic Beasts in comparison? Personally, I put Fantastic Beasts in a separate category where I can kind of accept aspects of it as canon expansions of the lore and worldbuilding... I can see JKR's style clearly and the inconsistencies with timelines and certain characters being in places and times they shouldn't be don't bother me as much as the straight up character assassination we see in CC. To put it another way, I think CC feels like it belongs to a totally different IP and was written by a different author (because it was) while FB definitely still exists in Rowling's wizarding world, it's just the timeline is kinda off.
this is interesting context. I think she kind of has to say yes to that question in context, because like... who's going to shill out £150 to see some random dude's AU fanfiction play (if it isn't even good)? of course, JKR's stamp isn't nothing, but even she can't weld extra content into the canon by declaring it so. i see TCC like church ephemera: i'm sure SOMEONE finds it interesting or relevant to what we're doing here, but that doesn't mean it's part of the Bible.
i feel the same way about fantastic beasts, but to a lesser extent. i actually enjoyed the first fantastic beasts movie, i thought it was playful and charming and (with the exception of the dumb polyjuice plot) the perfect way to revive harry potter as a storytelling vehicle. like, yeah, it fucked up by trying to go too big too soon, but if you can remove one (1) subplot or narrative thread and have a solid movie, then as a writer, you've still done okay.
Fantastic Beasts also annoys me because it does feel like harry potter, in terms of tone and mouthfeel. it's got the sauce. it just heinously drops the ball in later installations. in particular, it starts getting nervous about holding the audience's attention and throws stuff in that just wouldn't make it in a natural, organic script — most of the shit from the original series is contrived and ill-suited to the dramatic tenor set by Movie About Funny Man Collecting Magical Animals. (e.g. going back to hogwarts? leta lestrange's secret white father revengeplot triple-rugpull? human nagini?? secret undead dumbledore brother raised by american evangelicals???). i like the idea of it very much. i'm honestly drawn to it as a creative space, because unlike TCC, there is potential there. it's just badly abused.

When I want to read a Top Gun fanfic, I want to read an expansion on the Top Gun universe. A weird AU story where the Top Gun characters are removed from their own setting and story and added to a summer camp (??) with no knowledge of anything related to Top Gun is not really Top Gun fanfic. And I guess I'm not the only one who thinks so.
yeah I've genuinely tried to be cordial with people on here, but at this point, with my whole heart: fuck off. I literally don't give a fuck what you think AT ALL! if you don't like it, then fucking unfollow. Demons and Demigods Part Six: Tartarus
Edit 4/12/24: okay so I might come back to this part and rewrite it at some point. I'll make a second post for that just to keep this one around bc i do like it, i just think it could be More lol
Alright, so this part is gonna be part hand-wavey transitions part written scene. I didn't want to split it up, so you'll just have to bear with me here for this one. This part also features dark!percy and, you know, The Horrors. Let me know if you want any warnings added to this one and I'll add them.
They get to Rome, split up to do their things, find Nico, fight the twins, Annabeth finds the Athena Parthenos, etc. Sam and Dean are stuck in Mystery Spot the same day Percabeth falls into Tartarus. And because demigods are ~weird~ they can all sense that something is off each repeat (especially because Percy and Annabeth seem Extra Off), and the Wednesday that Dean dies and then stays dead for four months is really fucking weird bc the demigods are just like, they know that nothing they do now is gonna stick they can feel it and Gaea and the Giants have like, stopped pulling shit so they’re just like wtf is going on. Then the world resets again and Percabeth has just fallen into Tartarus and off we go to continue the story. The demigods can sense that whatever was going on is over now and they hustle to get back to work.  
Percabeth did not get reset because Tartarus works different and is beyond the reach and powers of a trickster (even if said trickster is actually the archangel Gabriel in disguise) so they were falling for longer than is canon and then spent a lot longer down there than in canon bc I’m a sadist <3 so the Percy and Annabeth that the rest of the seven interacted with on each reset were just illusions repeating canned lines.
(I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this is my au and I can fuck with the timelines if I want to, so I am. Does it make sense? No. Do I care? Also no. I'm just having fun, don't think about any of it too hard.)
Now begins The Horrors.
Percabeth is in Tartarus dealing with The Horrors for like, a year. Between the topside Mystery Spot resets not affecting the Pit and time working differently down there anyway, it’s a long ass time for them. Tartarus is Large, it takes a long time to traverse its expanse. They suffer through drinking the fire water and trying desperately to stay alive to make it to the Doors. It’s been months and they’ve both started to lose themselves a little to the nature of the Pit. Percy is a little more vicious when cutting down monsters, Annabeth is a little slower to reign him in. It’s . . . almost easier down there. It’s all cut a dry. It’s just kill or be killed. It’s us or them. There is nothing but fight and kill and stay alive and always keep moving. It’s simple.  
Bob shows up and it’s a reminder that there’s more out there, a reminder of who they were and what they’re fighting for when they had begun to forget that there had ever been anything other than Hell. They regain a little bit of who they were before the Fall.  
The arai fuck shit up real bad lmao. They fight and get cursed and then Annabeth is blinded and she can’t find Percy and Percy is enraged. He stops caring about anything but getting to her, he doesn’t care about all the curses he is taking on, he can’t feel the pain of them anymore. The arai fall all around him with every swing of his sword. The curses pile up and still he doesn’t stop. They mean nothing in the face of his rage and desperation to get back to Annabeth’s side.  
And then it happens. He cuts down an arai and then he’s on the ground. Annabeth is still calling for him and the arai are laughing at him. The curse of Phineas, they cackle. A slow, painful death for the son of Poseidon who has caused so much suffering and pain; it is fitting.  
Percy is in unbearable pain; his blood is boiling in his veins and his skin is sloughing off his bones. His head is pounding and throbbing and he thinks it might explode. His muscles are burning and tearing themselves apart as his bones liquify. He knows that he is dying and fears that he won’t. Still he tries to get up, tries to stand and continue fighting. He refuses to go out without a fight, and he refuses to leave Annabeth to suffer the nightmares of this place alone.  
He manages to get back to his feet, although he has no idea how, and he has not the strength to lift his sword, barely the strength to grip it. And so he lunges, ripping the arai apart with hands and teeth as he burns, everything burning burning burning. But Annabeth is always just out of reach and his strength cannot last forever. He goes down. His vision is fading and he can’t tell if he’s breathing, he’s not even sure he has lungs to breathe with anymore. With the last of his strength he turns his gaze to the vaguely silver outline of where Bob is standing off to the side and prays. He begs with the shredded remains of his deteriorating mind for Bob to keep Annabeth safe. He apologizes for never visiting, for being a bad friend.  
And then the lights go out and Percy knows that this is it. He has a moment to wonder if his soul will remain trapped in Tartarus for all eternity or if it will manage to escape. With his luck, he doubts it.  
Bob moves, then. He clears away the arai and grabs Annabeth before she walks off the cliff. He heals her and carries her over to where Percy is lying still on the ground. Annabeth begs Bob to help him, cradles him in her arms and tells him that he can’t die, he can’t leave her to find the Doors alone, she needs him. Bob tries to heal him.  
Percy is a gruesome sight. He’s bleeding from a hundred different wounds, one of his legs looks broken and there is bone sticking out of his arm. He’s covered in blood and bruises and burns and he’s far too cold.  
Bob manages to fix most of the wounds and heals the broken bones. But the gorgon’s blood poison is beyond his abilities to take care of. They head to Damasen’s.  
Annabeth is wary, but desperate, and Bob is holding Percy so she had no choice but to follow.  
Damasen helps them, albeit reluctantly. Percy slowly gets better. Annabeth is thankful for the weeks of rest they get at Damasen’s hut while Percy recovers. Eventually, however, Percy is as healed as he is going to get in Tartarus, where the very air they breathe is slowly killing them, and they need to move on.  
It’s slow progress, heading towards the lady Bob says can help them with the death mist stuff, but they make it. Bob couldn’t come with them all the way, but he promised to meet them afterwards.  
And then Misery herself shows up and she is going to kill them. After everything else they’ve been through, after everything else they’ve done to get this far, they’re going to die at the hands of a sniveling, whining old hag? No.  
Percy is angry. He is furious. He wrests control of the poison from her and reverses its flow. He grabs hold of her tears and snot and saliva and forces it back, making her sob harder and it only gives him more to work with. Annabeth stands back and watches.  
Percy sees just how much misery Misery can take. She is begging him to let her go and he can’t help but laugh. It’s pitiful, how quickly she’s given in, given up. That cracked glass orb somewhere in the core of him shatters. And all of a sudden, he can feel. He can sense the congestion rattling in her lungs and the ichor pumping through her veins.  
He wants to grab hold of it, grab hold of everything in her and make her scream. He wants to make her feel even a fraction of the pain that he and Annabeth have had to endure down here.  
But then Annabeth’s ghoulish hand is on his arm and he turns to look at her and her eyes are sharp, even from beneath the guise of the death mist, and she shakes her head. He tilts his, asking, are you sure? He can kill this goddess, he is suddenly certain of this fact, and he would, if Annabeth told him to. She shakes her head again.  
He clears a path and lets Misery go.  
Nyx is frightening, yes, but Percy can feel the ichor in her veins just as easily as he could in Misery’s. He is not as afraid as he knows he should be.  
They survive the House of Night and make it to the other side intact.  
Percy can sense Annabeth’s heart pounding as they run, can feel her blood pumping and it makes his head throb, but they don’t have time for him to think about it, so he shoves it to the back of his mind and carries on.  
They meet up with Bob. Percy can almost hear the ichor in his veins and he can sense every movement Bob is about to make, can feel his muscles tense and stretch.  
They make it to the Doors and Percy can hardly think over the sound of all the blood pumping within the horde of monsters before them. It echoes in his head, gallons of blood and ichor roaring in his ears. He stumbles and Annabeth catches him. He can’t hear her worried questions over the pounding in his head.  
He gets it under control.  
They make it to the Doors and cut one chain. They fight. Tartarus himself appears.  
Percy drops his sword. He claps his hands over his ears and screams. He can feel it now, the body of Tartarus coming to life beneath their feet; the rivers of the Underworld flow through his veins, monsters writhe around in pustules on his skin. They stand atop the thunderous beating of his massive heart.  
Percy can feel it all and he can feel his mind begin to fray at the immensity of it, at the truth of the Pit. Mortal minds were not meant to bear this reality.  
Annabeth is kneeling in front of him (he doesn’t remember hitting the ground) and her hands are covering his over his ears and she’s trying to talk to him but all he can hear is the rushing of the rivers beneath Tartarus’ skin. Bob is fighting off monsters and his brothers as the manifestation of Tartarus watches from the sidelines. Damasen is there (when did he get here? Percy’s mind is fracturing, he can’t think straight, he can’t keep track of what’s going on) and Percy blinks and Damasen has thrown himself at Tartarus and Annabeth is trying to haul him into the Doors.  
Percy tries to speak but he can’t seem to make his voice work. They need to stay, to help their friends. They can’t leave Bob and Damasen behind.  
Annabeth is crying.  
Percy reaches up to wipe the tears from her cheeks and tries to focus only on her, tries to block out the body of Tartarus and the horde of monsters.  
Suddenly, Bob is there, scooping them up and depositing them in the elevator. “The button must be held for twelve minutes or else the Doors will open and you will die, trapped within whatever lies between here and the surface.”  
Annabeth tries to protest. Percy can barely make out what Bob is saying.  
“I will hold the button,” Bob says. “Thank you, friends, for giving us hope.” He glances over his shoulder at where Damasen and his drakon are holding off the tide of monsters and trying to keep Tartarus at bay. “We will do this for you, and we are honored to. You must hold the Doors closed on your side. They do not like the living and will try to spit you out.”  
Bob presses the button and the Doors begin to slide closed. “Please tell the sun and stars I say hello,” he says with a soft smile, and the Doors shut.  
It’s a long, long ride back to the surface. Annabeth and Percy throw their shoulders into the Doors, fighting to keep them closed. Annabeth sobs, but Percy still isn’t quite all there.  
The longer they’re in the elevator and the farther they get from the Pit, the more Percy begins to come back to himself. Annabeth watches the awareness slowly return to his eyes and his face crumple with despair as he regains his mind and can finally make sense of what just happened.  
They mourn, but they keep the Doors closed.  
Above, the whole thing with Pasiphae and Clytius is happening. The Doors ding. Leo throws a screwdriver to hit the button.  
The Doors slide open.  
Percy and Annabeth tumble out, still clinging to each other even as they collapse.  
They look dead.  
Clytius uses them to speak and everyone is pissed off, then Hazel and Hecate kill him <3  
Percy and Annabeth are alive, but only just. And they’re out. Nico and Hazel kneel on either side of them. Nico reaches out to clutch at the tattered remains of Percy’s shirt and Hazel grabs hold of Annabeth’s wrist.  
The others gather around and hold hands. Nico and Hazel shadow travel them all out of there.  
In the light, it’s worse.  
Reyna and Coach Hedge meet them on the hilltop and freeze. Hedge starts cursing up a storm and Reyna chokes back bile. Leo turns around and throws up. Frank gags. Hazel sobs and Nico feels like he can’t breathe. Piper turns and buries her head in Jason’s chest. He wraps his arms around her tightly but can’t bring himself to look away from Percy and Annabeth.  
They’re horrifyingly thin, emaciated. The tattered remnants of their clothes hang off their skeletal frames. Their skin was pale and sallow, their cheeks sunken. Their chests rattled with each shallow, labored breath. They were covered in cuts and bruises, weeping lacerations and half-healed scabs littering their skin beneath layers of dirt and grime and other nasty substances.  
The others wondered just how long Percy and Annabeth had been down there.  
Jason gently lifts Percy into his arms and flies him to the ship, Frank right behind him as a dragon with Annabeth carefully cradled in his claws.  
Reyna, Hedge, and Nico leave with the Athena Parthenos.  
Percy and Annabeth are settled in two beds in the small infirmary on the Argo II to rest. No one knows when (if) they’ll wake up. Someone is always with them, though. Be it Hazel gently wiping the grime from their skin or Piper carefully cleaning their wounds, Jason dribbling nectar between their cracked lips or Frank doing some physical therapy exercises to try and keep their muscles from atrophying any further.  
The boat was quiet and tense, everyone waiting with bated breath for Percy and Annabeth to wake up.  
And eventually, they did.

semi-final roleswap au beheaded concept (aka 'the merchant'). this took a stupidly long time. (also i had Plans to do a very sketchy comic but my hand is killing me so not today)
readmore for very vague ideas and game spoilers
something something the king working more directly/intimately with the alchemist. ostensibly trying to help find a cure/treatment/whatnot but also trying to find a way to save himself/loved ones. ends up going too far and getting... well... beheaded-ified. unsure if homunculi-fied or not.
something something before that point the alchemist (in this universe, more principled and less "ends justify the means") refuses to continue various lines of research on moral grounds and stops working with the king, who decides to go ahead anyway because desperation and etc.
but doesn't have the knowledge/training to address the problem he's created, and the alchemist will not aide him (sacrifice too great, innocent people hurt, maybe is pursuing something he considers promising) and things fall apart.
timeline/events fuzzy but basically i think the idea is that cells are the answer/an answer -> the person who has the know-how to actually do the thing is the alchemist -> the king does something to affect the alchemist's memories -> alchemist ends up in similarly "dumped into events of game" situation -> runs into a friendly merchant whose goals are A) cells and B) to befriend the alchemist (in order to obtain his help) -> [various game events, also finding own journals/etc., start to piece together some stuff, maybe start to mistrust the merchant, info from bosses, etc.] -> final boss fight where the merchant requests help, alchemist probably refuses based on gathered info (or maybe a choice? iunno) and something like "if you won't help me then i'll just kill you"
and there could be some fun angst re: "we used to be friends or at least circumstances forced us to work closely together in an extremely stressful situation and we know a lot about each other and also we maybe became friends a second time throughout this journey but then i found out you caused my problems in the first place and just wanted to use me for my knowledge and that's a lot to deal with and now i'm fuckin' pissed and i really kind of want to kill you" from the alchemist and "we used to be friends or at least you helped me but then you refused when it mattered most (and i probably don't deal well with rejection) and i had to do all of this shit for the possibility of your help and you still won't just fucking help me even now and if that's the case you might as well just die (but also i probably feel conflicted because even though it was on false pretenses we did become friends)" from the king and then they kiss
problem is of course you probably don't want to cause memory issues for the one person who has the knowledge that you need but maybe it's a "i have no other choice" kind of situation for the king (maybe alchemist threatened something drastic?) and it was that or nothing.
obviously there's issues with this in a gameplay sense as well but then there's issues in regular vanilla dead cells as well going from 5bc to anything else so fuck it, who cares. narrative and gameplay don't necessarily match up well. (i really don't know why i'm structuring this around gameplay when it's an au and i could just do whatever but i guess that's just how it be in my brain.)
speaking of gameplay. while it could be restrictive compared to the range of weapons you get normally i do like the idea of roleswap au!collector's moveset being based on his boss moveset, but with some expansions. so you'd start off with super basic like syringe 3-hit light-light-heavy attack pattern and maybe the ability to throw fireballs or something. you would upgrade the syringe using cells (maybe could do like one of three paths mimicking the brutality/tactics/survival split) and also your magic skills, allowing the laser attack, summoning mobs, etc. also might could change the element of the magic, have fire as the default but also have options to switch to poison or electric or ice or something. also i'd limit it to 2 of the however many "magic" things he can do (lumping everything that's not basically "stab with the syringe" into one category here), so you could do like fireballs and mob summoning but not laser, or whatever.
completely ??? about how the respawn mechanic would work. very rough ideas include some sort of memory collection (of course injected into a body -- new body? -- via syringe because that would be thematically appropriate and i have been listening to the new season of dungeons and daddies, but otherwise i got nothin'. except that maybe the tutorial knight would be the one to resurrect you each time.

The Plane of Materium- Warhammer x MTG Crossover au
Introduction
The plane of Materium or The Materium is the name of my au where the world of Warhammer (primarily 30k and 40k) is a plane within in Magic the Gathering expansive Multiverse. This is a post that details the ground rules and some flexibility.
Much like with mt Beyond the Mists au (GW2/MTG) I much prefer to just inject Warhammer as a plane because I enjoy all aspects of each universe and it is much easier to inject other universes into MTG than vice versa.

Name of Plane:
Warhammer's plane is known as The Materium, Plane of Materium or the Milky Way.
How Am I incorporating Realspace and The warp
As per canon they overlap, this is the same. With the information I know, the warp (and chaos) is the leylines and the magic of the plane. Obvious this is the main magical source however it isn't the only one (IE C'tans and Necrons). Hence the mages of the plane, psykers and sorcerers, draw on the power of the warp and is knowing of the finicky relationship with it.
What changes are there?
This pertains to strictly the Primarchs and the Emperor. In this au, the Emperor is a planeswalker, more specifically an OLDwalker. Omnipotent nigh unkillable planeswalker before the mending. During his primarch project, he had made some of the primarchs be potential of becoming planeswalkers other than more integral ones such as Magnus. None of the 18 primarchs achieved the ability. For this au, one or both of the forgotten primarchs could have manage to develop a spark.
The current century is set post Mending in the current mtg timeline and has the same yearly-time as Dominaria. But the Plane had shifts of time dilation and rapid time skips because of some level of BS.
Planeswalkers and planeswalking-
As I stated, the Emperor was a planeswalker for a long time. However, due to the nature of how the au, it is very hard to create a spark thus this was not in his power range. Warp entities are considered magical entities, they cannot develop sparks under normal means. As well as, if planeswalker were to fall to chaos and become a daemon or warp entity, they most likely had their sparked stripped from them.
Foreign planeswalker, those who are not born on The Materium, are weak to warp influence and does not know how to correctly harness the warp like materium-born planeswalkers.
List of planeswalkers and extraplanar entities-
The Emperor- He's the mother fucking emperor I dont need to explain much. his color pie is ESPER (White/Blue/Black) like the actual imperium deck.
Primarch Lachesis- One of the two forgotten primarchs. His spark ignited during the Rendan xenocides. Sultai oldwalker who went around the multiverse, ascending multiple (but now mostly fallen) astartes ranks. They had went and created their own plane called Xenoidae and rules the Imperialis there. Lachesis comes back in the 42nd and is an EXTREMELY potent biomancer and shapeshifter
UNNAMED NECRON- a cryptek who was able to get a spark or ignite their own.
Nym Kylem- a Elven biomancer and one of Brwynfr's lost children. He has came to the plane to study the excess of life. However, he did encounter the Tyranids, and when he drew on his magic, he glimpsed the shadow of the hive mind. It shattered his mind and he willing submitted himself to join the Hivemind, however, he was able to bargain and keep his own individuality while he becomes a Hive Tyrant. Connected yet separate to the glorious Hivemind
Fynn Briar- A joint project of the now oldwalker, Lachesis, Sanguinius and Anathema to make a child. He was completed right during the Signus Campaign. The three met up and decided it was best to cryochamber the babe and to deposit on another plane until the horus heresy was done. He was never recovered and was cracked open on Arcavios some ten thousand years later. this is about as much info I have and there's a lot more of interplanar politics with characters who go in and out of the warhammer universe in time like Lachesis is just doing outerplanar fuckery. Highly self indulgent and FUCK the warhammer decks did not help my hyperfixation. It's like a canon compliant au but also not really. I thank mtg for how fuckable the multiverse is

Okay... I'm gonna try to.. envelop the main cores of loz lore over all the timelines but oh my god it's such a tall order, at the end of this I'm gonna link some videos you can watch if you wanna learn more about loz lore!! It's genuinely a ton of fun if you're a fan of expansive video game universes it's so so much fun <- totally hasn't been in loz hell for years now
The main idea of the loz universe is that it's a, curse dressed as a blessing sort of deal. There's three main goddesses: power, wisdom, and courage. All three of these guys are sort of trapped in a never ending cycle of sorts that's spurred on by Demise cursing the literal entire universe and dooming everyone to be endlessly reborn and forced into roles that they must obey less the entire world is destroyed/enslaved ^-^
That's the main core of all the games, they're all trapped in some way and they can't escape the cycle. Courage is destined to be the legendary hero that's hopelessly out of any sort of control or autonomy, wisdom who's doomed to never be listened to or considered at the end of the world, and power who even with the world in their hands- will never accomplish what they truly desire.
If you're wanting to do a dsmp au you could definitely do something along those lines!! It also helps that it's sorta royalty inspired and there's species and kingdoms! You probably already know them but I'll list them just to make sure: the rito, zora, gerudo, hylian, zonai, gorons, and kokori! There's monster species and other species that show up randomly in single games but these are the KEYSTONE kingdoms or species of all the games! (the minish and the twili for example, they're extremely interesting but only really show up for a single game)
Royalty is also a really important thing in the loz universe! Lots of divinity, magic, and funky tech is everywhere! But onto the actual dsmp stuff, if you want Techno to be the hero of courage I feel like you most definitely could!! Or you could have something where like, Wilbur is Wisdom and Tommy is Power, or you could do something totally different! You can be fluffy and humorous about it, or angsty, or even dark if you'd like! The beauty of the loz lore is that it gives you a ton of creative freedom that you can really do whatever you want tbh.

To be perfectly honest, there's so much loz lore that you could do near anything with Techno and I guarantee you it would work. Shit! Make Phil part rito! Make Wilbur part zora! Do neither! Make Kristin a goddess of the depths itself! You can literally do anything I promise you!! Fuck it! Make Techno a gerudo!!! The loz world is open to you and you can do literally anything forever. I'm just having difficulty explaining everything cause there's so fucking much but I hope this is at least a decent intro to the greater loz lore

not me immediately forgetting to answer this dsvfvds
BUT TY i don't talk about ellis much & i know part of it is because they don't have (or want) a partner so I tend to draw less of them (i'm foolish)!!! BUT in splat timeline ellis is agent 3 in an offshoot universe from the main one juice and i have (wherein flynn, rowan, and jo are 4, 3, and 8 respectively). they live with august (the agent 4 for that timeline) until she moves out to live with her gf, piper (agent 8).
the rest is under the cut bc ouhhhhghghhhgh oc chatter
BUT BASIC STUFF: in every universe, ellis uses they/them (maybe toying around w xe/xir but not sure on that yet) (honestly i think they'd be down for any pnouns that Aren't he/she) (don't even THINK about gendering them) and is aroace. they're also autistic in the "this conversation isn't interesting to me at all so I'm just going to leave" way.
in splat timeline! ellis is the youngest of the agents, despite being. the most longterm member of the splatoon. they're about a year or two younger than august (it used to be more than that but I think this works better), and they meet through the agency. ellis had been living alone in agency-based housing and was assigned august as a roommate and, hates her (lovingly). they have a very sibling relationship and ellis judges every girl august brings home (except for piper BUT to be fair. august didn't bring her home technically. and ellis knew her previously through the events of octo expansion).
SPEAKING of piper. in every timeline ellis LOVES piper. she can bake a mean pan of brownies and she's also autistic so she Gets them and its very (autism creatures shaking hands image). they just sit together quietly on their phones/laptops hashtag parallel play. when they find out august and piper are dating they're very PIPER YOU ARE MAKING A HORRIBLE MISTAKE (i am so happy for both of you) AUGUST IF YOU FUCK THIS UP I'LL KILL YOU. also when august moves out to live with piper they cry but no one sees ok. no one
NOT INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIP STUFF:
ellis has to be doing something with their hands at all times. they have like 50 different fidget toys littered around the apartment, 30% of which are different color fidget cubes. they don't even like fidget cubes that much but they're all different colors/novelty gimmicks (ie baby yoda, a cat, etc) so it's ok. their favorite fidgets are rubbing smooth stuff and clicking so. clickable pens and smooth stones are their go-to fidgets
in splat timeline they use up a lot of that energy tinkering with their autobombs (they refer to them as their chickens, always in a deadpan) (with how technical they like to be when talking abt them, no one can tell if the chickens thing is a joke) (good luck figuring it out), but in every timeline they do a lot with textiles. their favorite is cross stitching but they also dabble in knitting. all the cross stitching they do is like. rude phrases made to look super live laugh love home sweet home because they think it's funny. they have a very floral "go away" hung on their walls in different scripts in like 3 places
oughhh this is just making me realize i need to draw ellis more...... they're the focus of my piece i did for hero shot zine tho so here's a sneak peak straight from that!!

AND THEN ONTO FIG..... fig (they/them) is @saltylenpai's OC technically so i'm a little rambly about them but they're dating my OC wren (he/him)!!! i have like NO recent art of either of them though so i need to. do that
but fig is super sweet, in love with the world and everything in it. in splatoon timeline, fig is a sanitized octoling in recovery and their love for all of the little things in life comes from relearning how to exist as a person. in human aus they're just. like that
fig's also like. our tallest oc. they have a huge tattoo spanning their chest and arms that's sea themed, uhhhhhhh, they love art and making art and thats how they meet wren actually!! they go to school together!!! wren is a printmaking major who dabbles in pottery and fig is like. i want to do Everything actually. so theres some overlap in classes. fig is also mega autistic (are you sensing a theme with our OCs) ESPECIALLY in the "i don't understand social cues" way and that whole flirting situation was a shitshow bc fig just dropped the "you make me feel a way [romantic but doesnt realise it]" and wren is just a fucking Mess over it bc he's so flustered and gay about it but he's not sure if *he's* reading the situation wrong . they get together thought shhh
fig's also a huge romantic and takes so many candids of wren and paints wren and like. wren is just their muse in a lot of ways its so fuckinf cute. ouhhhhhhh i just love fig a lot. i love fig theyre so cute and sweet and i love them so much i have so many feelings about fig i am not good at words about them theyre just (crying noises) and their relationship with wren is SO (louder crying noises)
here's a fun fact!! fig grew up birdwatching with their mom so when they come around to be like "hey mom this is my boyfriend wren" she's like yeah that tracks for you, always a birdwatcher!!

Does Vitiate know Corrian is his child? Have you ever made an au where Carrian is raised by him?
Not at first, no. Valkorion/Vitiate doesn't find out that Corrain is his son until partway through the KOTXX expansions, after he's gone to take up residence in Corrain's head.
He gets his hands on some specific memories of Cor's - in particular, Corrain's memories of seeing Iomlan as a fifteen-year-old Jedi Initiate, when he first starts asking questions and the Jedi give him a holoportrait of his mother to start gently introducing him to the Weird Past she has. This is what clues Valkorion in to this, and then afterwards he uses it to taunt both Arcann and Corrain. For Corrain- this is unthinkable. Especially since Vitiate and Valkorion were the same person, technically, even if Valkorion doesn't share all of Vitiate's memories (like the keyword).
Valkorion is absolutely delighted to know that Corrain is his firstborn son, though - it makes it even easier to try and force Corrain to take the Eternal Throne and then hijack his body afterward. He just...doesn't count on Corrain being the Force's answer to Vitiate's existence (and the answer to the reason behind Vitiate's existence as well) so uhhhh. that doesn't happen, lmao
And I haven't yet made an AU where Corrain is raised on Zakuul by Valkorion...but suffice to say, he'd have gotten the Vaylin treatment, just a little later than Vaylin did. And in that timeline, my Sith Inquisitor would've likely made it to the Jedi as a youngling, as they were originally supposed to do, and so the conflicts in KOTXX would've been between Sekulyn, Jedi Knight of the Republic, and Luina Greine (aka Cor), First Prince and Chief Scion of the Zakuulan Empire.
And anyone facing him AND Vaylin, simultaneously? Rest in fucking Pieces.

FOUR MONTHS AGO, a funny little thought wormed its way into my head, something along the lines of "what if the kid leaders swapped places? imagine if karkat's the one who has to deal with trolls and john's the idiot squinting at the doofus aliens on a shitty computer monitor lol."
and when i looked it up, lo and behold! it exists and it's called kidswap, and everyone's AUs are all awesomely different.
my thought evolved to "wow that's so cool! maybe i should develop this a bit more, nothing too big it's just for fun."
...
Four months later, I have a web. A wall in my head is dedicated to this AU and this AU alone, lined with rainbow string and multi-colored push-pins. Marker scribbles in the shape of google Docs and doodles are frantically scattered everywhere, I have relationships and dynamics drawn out and something that seems to vaguely resemble a plot in between Karkat's character development and Jane's slay queen moment and Rose's Not Tragic Just Very Confusing backstory, tucked away in there.
So. Yes. I will be posting shit. It's fine. I'm fine. This is fine.
This is a story about kids. The characters are children that could kill me in my sleep, both in character wise and literally and figuratively. Some might say that I have made them fucked up beyond belief (some of them, at least) in accordance to the situations they live in. In a sense, that's the point of making this AU: how does identity and personality develop when placed in different situations? Are you still the same person? The topic is already mainly explored in homestuck canon through the concept of timelines, and the theme of it is especially prominent in the lovely disaster, if we can call him that, that is Dirk Strider. My mind was basically blown after reading that, because that hit HARD, so consider this AU a way of coping, or a continuation and expansion of that exploration. Or just think of it as something silly and fun, your choice.
Anyway. Welcome to my Kidswap AU. I am so sorry.
