I've never posted anything that I've written before, but it's WIP Wednesday and I'm still emotional about the ending of Breath of the Wild, so here's a little snippet from a little something I wrote after finishing the game—
He closed the distance between them, wanting to cheer her up but unsure how. She glanced over at him and smiled, relief replacing the horror, if only by a little bit.
“Link… I’m really glad you're here.” Her smile widened. “I always believed in you. My faith never wavered.”
The tips of his ears went red at that.
“Thanks,” he managed.
“I suppose, in a way, that we should start over. Get to know each other again. I certainly don’t feel like the same person I once was, one hundred years ago. Everything’s so different now. And you’ve changed, too. So….” She stopped and turned fully around, holding out her hand. “Hello. My name is Zelda.”
He stood there for a moment, unsure of what to do. Then his muscle memory kicked in and he knelt on the ground, bowing his head.
“No, no! None of that. We’re friends, remember? All of that… it doesn't really matter now, does it?” She leaned forwards and pulled him back up to his feet, her smile never wavering. “It truly is good to have you back.”
She was still holding his hand. Link looked down at it. He had been a simple knight before, hadn’t he? And she was the princess. She had single-handedly held Calamity Ganon back for a century, waiting for him to finally wake up and finish what he’d started. She was amazing.
She was also the only familiar thing he had left of a life that he could barely remember. He let go of her hand and stepped closer, uncertainty in his every move. Luckily she caught on quickly and beat him to it, pulling him into a hug and squeezing him tightly. He squeezed her back; took in a deep breath. She was really here.
When they finally pulled apart Zelda turned away, rubbing at her face. “I’d been so worried. I didn’t even know if the Shrine would work. Of course my fears were unfounded, but… will you tell me about your adventure, Link? All of it? I’d love to hear it. Please?”
He smiled.
How could he ever say no to her?

After saving the land before them Zelda and link were tied and they need to sleep. So they went on there Horse to the Village to Link’s house. As Zelda was so happy she was also glad to know that all that had happened was all in the past.
Zelda was so happy to not be in the Castle trying to stay awake. Everything was fine now she was with Link. When they got about 4 hours away Zelda saw that there were some people out in the distance. She had not seen people in forever she said to link to set up camp for the night and she would go talk to the people and she would come back with some food so they could cook.
Link looked at the people in concern I will be fine just go set up camp he nodded his head. Zelda loved to see the blue sky and the birds and the sway of the grass she never wanted to it to end. When she started talking to the people they were a little of but she just thought that they were excited to see her they just offered bananas to her. All at once she remembered that Link told her about a Yiga clans they would look like a normal person but they were not.
she screamed “Link” he came running at full speed and right on time the Yiga clan members were not the week kind but the much harder to kill ones. One did have a bow though Link killed the one with a sword first but the one with a bow was so fast Link told Zelda to run back to camp she didn’t want to leave him alone but she went behind a big rocks and hid.
Zelda Hurd nothing but a sweet sound of a little bird chirping in the distance. Then she heard a scream it sounded like a link she ran all the way to him the Yiga was not dead but it retreated because it has fulfill its duties. It had shot Link right in the chest with his bow 4 times he was wheezing and gasping for air. Link grabbed two of the arrows and pulled them out. Zelda squinted with fear she knew that it needed to be tended to right away. But all she had was bananas and a small cloth she was watching him grab the other two arrows and he was pulling them out. He Was in a great amount of pain. She tried to talk to him for the very first time she said “ we need to get you to a stable first but we then will rush to Hatnao village”. Link tried to speak but the pain took over.
“shh you need to save your strength right now” Zelda said. She could tell that he Was in A lot of pain. Blood started to turn his clothes red and Zelda new that she will need to hurry or he wouldn’t make it! she said to him can you get on the horse he said. I-can try-to get on…. She was getting so worried that he wouldn’t be able to make it. She helped him get on the horse and they started to ride.
after about an hour or so it started to get worse they were about 20 minutes away from the staple. And he fell off his horse Zelda jumped off and rushed to the side. He was Groaning with pain as much more blood came out. At this time he was as white as the cloud He was barely breathing and struggling when he was. They finally got to a stable she found some cloth and wiped off the wound with some water. He was wincing with pain she didn’t want it to be painful but she wanted to be clean.
she turned one of the horses in so they could ride together in and he can rest. Zelda did not notice how much blood he had Lost buddy was struggling because of the blood loss they were almost to the village about only 30 minutes away when it started to get worse blood was rushing out now and Zelda was worried. The time before his eyes were open but his eyes started the clothes slowly.
Zelda knew it had to be because of blood loss or was that the reason she turned around and stop the horse she put her hand to Link’s for head he had a very high fever. She knew that the fever was going to cause some pain and some discomfort but she knew she had to get to the village that was all of her concern. when she made it to the village people came running out of their houses link was not awake anymore so They took him to his house and laid him down on the bed. Zelda fell asleep on the bedside Well they tend to his wounds.
She was still very worried for him but than her friend pura came in she said check it her normal thing she looked at link and said what happened Zelda explain to the story as pura made some food on the stove for when he woke up and fore them of course. They talked for hours then Link woke up wai-r am I… don’t worry you’re in your house he fell back asleep after about 20 minutes he was obviously exhausted from blood loss and a fever. After he was all better and able to walk again I Zelda and him continue their adventures as one! The end. Thank you so much for your kindness and your help for your love and kindness always gives me energy.❤️❤️❤️ I just want to ask if you can draw like a little seen out of this you are such an inspiration to me 😊

That's not enough to treat such severe wounds oh no!!!#he pulled all those arrows out himself?!!! no wonder he was in such a great amount of pain! OUCH that sounds horrible!!! 😭😭😭#treating a wound hurts but Zelda's right it's more important for it to be clean!#the wound sounds so painful I'm so worried about him.. poor zelda wondering if he's going to make it! 😭#and now he has a fever too oh no?!! Since you mentioned doing botw requests, would you be able to write another part to forgotten love, where it turns out reader was isekaid
Like they were there before the calamity, managed to get home then ended up back in hyrule - and back with yan!link?
Also just gonna say that how you write link as a yan is absolutely incredible and I'd love to see more about how you think he'd act post calamity when he's more feral
Forgotten Love Pt. 2 (Yandere BOTW).
Tumblr media
I really like this ask, so I'm incorporating it into the part 2. Thank you, Anon. (Also, for the case of the story, Legend of Zelda isn't a game).
I tried to expand the relationships the reader has with the other characters, so I hope this is good.
Also, also. I got all the glyphs, most of the memories (except for 1, 11, 14, 16, and 18) and finished all the temples so use that as a reference for your asks.
"(Y/N)! Are you seriously not listening to me right now?!"
You shot up, nearly spilling the coffee in your hands. You look across from you to see your coworker Alice, giving you a stern look with her arms cross. She wasn't really your friend, at least in your eyes, but you were glad to have someone to talk to.
You look down at your coffee, which was now cold, and give Alice a nervous giggle. She scoffs and eats the last bite she had left of her croissant. Whipping her mouth free of crumbs, she rolls her eyes at you, "seriously (Y/N), you need to get your head out of the clouds." She picks up her empty coffee cup and used napkin. She eyes you before, giving you a sigh and sympathetic look.
"Look, (Y/N), you need to get some help with your dreams. You've been struggling with work and barely leave your house. Try going to a sleep doctor, or anything. Please." Alice sounded desperate, looking down at you with sad eyes, before leaving you alone in the cafe.
You knew Alice was right, your dreams have been very, life like, to say the least. You can only remember a few bits and pieces, like the sounds and smells, but nothing concrete. You've tried talking to Alice about it, but it just sounds like your crazy, and you can tell she worried for you.
---
"Do you remember them?" It was a strange question that the Princess barely understood. Zelda looks at her sworn protector, raising an eyebrow at him. He gives her a short look before continuing.
"(Y/N)." Link says, his voice quiet. Zelda's hand tightens around the torch at the sound of your name. Her pace slows as her looks down at the grown, sadness filling her body. Link stops and looks back at her, his face dark and baren of any emotion.
"I do." She says sorrowful. It would be a lie to say she hasn't thought about you in the last 100 years. In fact, she constantly thought about you. She often thinks about your friendship, how you helped her grow her knowledge of ancient sheikah materials, how you comforted her when she came back from another day unable to awaken her powers. You were there for her, and she wasn't, and now you're gone.
When Zelda looks back up, Link is staring directly at of her, eyes unmoving. It was scary, his intensity. She stepped back a little but kept her composure nicely. "Why do you ask?"
Link ignores the question, "There's nothing less of them." Link voice is monotone, but that doesn't scare Zelda, it's the blank gaze behind his eyes when he talks about you.
Zelda walks up closer to Link, taking her place besides him. She gives him a hard look, courage filling her body, "We lost a lot of people in the Calamity."
Link was silent as they continue to walk in the darkness underneath the castle. Zelda took a small breath at Link's silence, aiming the torch further ahead of her. Although it was quiet, her mind was filled with you. She knew Links feeling for you, she knew how dark and possessive they were, but she couldn't blame herself for your death. Thousands of lives were lost in the Calamity and while she will always cherish you, you were gone, and there were bigger things to focus on.
Like now, the murals in front of them, depicting the beginnings of Hyrule. She stares at them in wonder, "Look Link!" She hands him the torch, grabbing her Purah pad to take a picture, "This is fascinating!" Link didn't respond, not that Zelda noticed as she took her pictures. Satisfied, she put the pad back on her belt and took the torch, motioning for Link to follow.
As they walked deeper and deeper down, the air became thicker and thicker. Link instinctively grasped his sword, removing it from the sheath on his back. The room slowly became red, smoke floating around them and filling their lungs. The hallway was only illuminated by Link's master sword and the torch Zelda was holding, slowly revealing the mummified body ahead, a glowing hand protruding out of it.
As they slowly move closer, the hand falls, a stone falling and rolling towards Zelda. The crouches down and pokes at it, before cradling it in her hand. A bright light emanates from it before a deep beating sound everts her attention back to the mummified corpse.
The corpse shifts and jolts awake with many cracks, rising up slowly before falling back down, his jaw hanging loosely open. It was silent for a second, Link moving in front of the Princess, waiting. His grip on the Master Sword tightens and his stance becomes firm as Zelda holds the stone close to her chest, the torch still in hand.
Suddenly, the corpse turns toward them, his eyes fiery red as the red smoke billows from them. Red tendrils start rushing out of the open would that was once covered by the glowing hand, beelining towards the two. Link thrusts the Master Sword forward, piercing one of the tendrils in its center, but it barely flinches as it travels up right hand, stealing him of any previous power he once had. Link winces in pain as he grasps his arm, which was now covered in the strange substance. Barely a second later, the tendrils are moving back towards him, Link swinging his sword forward to stop the attack, only to witness the powerful sword be shattered, the tip shooting forward and grazing the corpse on the cheek.
"Link!" Zelda calls out, concerned for his safety. Link makes no sound as he focuses on the reanimated corpse moving in front of him.
"Was that the sword that seals the darkness? A blade that shatters so easily against my power cannot save you from me." It groans, slowly standing, vile pops and squelches coming from its body. "Zelda..." It drones, her eyes widening at the call of her name. Her breath wavers as she moves closer to Link, who the corpse is now directing its attention too.
"You, who carries that fragile sword." Its words are filled with disdain, "are Link." Link faulters, but only for a second as the corpse continues.
Finally, at its full height, it looks down upon the two Hylians, "Rauru placed his faith in you..." He looks almost smug, "and that was all you could do?"
"How do you know our names?" The corpse ignores Zelda's question as the strange substance that previously attacked them bursts out of its chest once more, flying towards the ceiling. It crumples piece by piece, shaking the ground below.
As Link's arm begins to radiate with pain, he hears the Princesses voice before succumbing to darkness.
---
A shiver ran up your spine randomly as you walk throughout your home. Your eyes were heavy as look around you for signs of unusual. Your apartment was dark and quiet, not strangle for the nighttime. Coming up with nothing odd, you shrug it off and back into your bedroom, closing the door behind you.
You sigh as you enter the comfort of your own bedroom, sitting down on your bed. You look at the time on your phone, 1:43am. You throw your phone down lightly and stare at your ceiling. You close your eyes and think of the dreams you had the previous nights, trying to come up with anything that you could explain to your therapist. You couldn't remember much, only faint hints of faces that became more and more unclear as you slowly drifted off into sleep.
---
The air around you feels warm, welcoming even. It envelopes you in a hug, and you can feel the sun beaming down on you snuggle deeper into what feels like grass.
Grass? That was strange. You open your eyes, covering them instantly when the sun enters them. It takes a second before moving to look at your surroundings. You were in the center of a large field, a few buildings far in the distance. Standing up slowly, you move your in front of you to keep your balance, your legs must've fallen asleep.
You stretch your arms above your head, attempting to get all of the sleep out of you. You stay relaxed, assuming this to be a dream. You don't feel all completely here, so it must be the case, right?
"Excuse me? Are you alright." A soft voice comes from behind you. You quickly turn around, coming face to face with a tan woman with long blond hair. Her arms and legs were covered in white markings, and her face was filled with concern. She moves closer to you, stopping when you move back in fear.
"Do you know who I am?" She frowns when you shake your head. She slowly moves closer to you, tilting her head in confusion, "Are you friends with Zelda?"
"Zelda? Who's Zelda." You question, causing the woman to pout. She cups her chin, assumingly to think, smiling when she is gifted with an idea.
"You should come with me." She speaks gently, "Me and my husband can help you." She moves her hand out for you to take.
You didn't know whether to trust her or not. You just met her but judging by her kind expression and willingness to help, you saw no issue with going with her. Either way, this was just a dream, so there's no harm. You walk up to her and take her hand, the woman smiling when you do so.
"I'm Sonia." She says, looking at you. You relax slightly, telling her your name as she leads you towards your destination.
---
Link no longer cares about time. The days and nights blend together without a care in the world, and Link does not blink an eye.
He wonders what Hylia has in store for him, subjecting him to this cruel fait again, right when he was starting to become acclimated to the world around him.
To take his memories from him, his powers from him, the only person he loved from him, he wonders what path she has for him, and if it will ever end.
Link no longer cares about his own wellbeing. Eating whatever food he can find, slaying any enemy with little remorse, traveling the skies and the depths of Hyrule with little fear. He no longer cares about the idea of hurting himself, not after everything was taken from him. Now, he wonders if death is the quickest way back to you.
The last time Link remembered being at peace was when he was with you. When you would brush his hair and talk to him about your research, never ending sentences spilling from your lips, not that he cared because he loved hearing your voice. When you would make him fancy dinners after being away from each other, when you would read to him as he fell asleep.
His favorite memory was when you first moved in with him, he was so nervous. He wanted to keep you with him, forever, and the best way to do that was moving in together. He spent weeks decorating the house to your liking, making sure everything was perfect, so when you finally came, it would be so nice you wouldn't want to leave.
But you did.
You left him all alone, to deal with the Calamity, the Upheaval.
Now, he sleeps alone in his bed in Terry Town, wondering if there was a way to bring you back to him. Maybe, if he did good, Hylia would gift you to him. Either that or he goes insane, because what would all his hard work be for.
---
It's your luck that Sonia takes you to a literal castle. It was large, in the center of the land, and screamed power. Sonia didn't seem too shocked at your surprise, in fact she seemed to revel in it, leading your through hallways and corridors until reaching the throne room.
The Throne Room was long and spacious, the ceiling was draped with blue cloths, strange symbols decorating the whole room. There were only two people in the room, a strange animal human hybrid who looked similar to a goat, and a young girl who looked similar to Sonia. They were making small talk before you walked in, turning towards you when you two walk in.
"(Y/N)?" The girl says, looking at you confused. She steps carefully towards you, eyeing your pajamas, which definitely looked weird compared to the flowy dress wear they were all wearing. She extends a handout to cup your face, her fingers shaking as they touch your skin.
You tense up at her touch, eyes darting from her to the man behind her, who moves closer to you slowly. "Is it really you?" She asks in a whisper. The man moves over to Sonia, his long hair flowing with him. He stands next to her and gives the two of you a confused look.
"Do they know each other?" The man asks. Sonia gives him coy smile.
"I guess so."
Suddenly, the girl is hugging you, wrapping you up so tight you could barely breath. Tears wet your shoulder as you awkwardly attempt to console the stranger. "I'm sorry, but I don't think I'm the person you're looking for." You pat her on the back, trying to pull away. She pulls back, still holding your arms giving you a muddled look.
"W-what do you mean?" She furrows her brows, tears still in her eyes. "You're (Y/N), right?" She gives a nervous smile, "I'm Zelda, remember?"
You shake your head, not remembering a thing. Zelda drops her hands back to her side, looking a way slightly before excusing herself, leaving the Throne Room in a hurry.
"Zelda!" The man calls out but was too late, Zelda was gone before he could say a word. The man looks at you apologetically, wrapping his arm around Sonia's waist.
"I apologize, she's been through, a lot, to say the least." He offers a smile similar to Sonia, one filled with warmth and compassion. "I am King Rauru, ruler of Hyrule." He gestures to Sonia, "And this is my wife, I'm assuming the two of you have meant.
You nod and Sonia laughs, "She appeared her similar to that of Zelda. I wonder if the two are related."
Rauru nods and the room was silent for a moment, your nervous shifting directing the attention to you. You cough and mess with the hem of your shirt, "So, what is this place anyway?"
Rauru becomes stiff, "You've never heard of Hyrule?" He frowns when you shake your head.
"Well that sure is strange." Sonia says with hint of curiosity, her husband shaking his head at her words. He looks at you, placing a hand on your shoulder.
"So, you must be from another world?" He watches as confusion and then understanding flash across your face.
"Oh, a dream." You laugh "This is all just a dream." You giggled to yourself, moving away from Rauru and Sonia as your demeanor suddenly becomes carefree.
Rauru lets out a small laugh at your behavior, watching as you move throughout the halls with an air of playfulness. "They sure are strange." He says whispering to his wife. She nods, hair bouncing with her movements.
"Oh, yes they are." She pauses, looking up at her husband with a knowing smile. "Should we tell them?"
Rauru shakes his head, "No, I think not."
---
Link awoke from the memory with a loud gasp, his heart nearly beating out of his chest. He moves away from the pool of water, not caring to wait for it to settle.
So that's where you were. In the past, with Zelda. He inhales, a pleased smile creeping onto his face. He grabs his hand, well, Rauru's hand, and cradles it on his chest. He knows this is the closest he's been to you in a long time, this hand is the only thing linking you to him.
Link wonders if he'd ever get to see you again. If you'd bless him with your presence once more and he could finally feel piece. Or, if he'd been forced to deal with your death, again.
He doesn't know if he couldn't handle it.
He knows he couldn't handle it.
So, as he stares into the palm of this strange hand, he makes a vow to you. To find you, and bring you home, and never let you out of his sight again.

Linked Universe - Masc!Reader Soulmate Quick Headcanons <3
Tumblr media
(^^ this is so cute i gotta find the anime its from)
Sun: Male/Masc Reader (he/him), Guide Reader :)
Stars: Wild (Breath of the Wild Link)
Planet: Headcanons/scenarios, kinda long sorry
Comets & Meteors: Content Warnings: Link possibly feeling comphet (compulsory heteronormative), the general angst of being the best friend love interest (ends well dw), Links missing you/being sad about it
& Trigger Warnings: Link crying. (Please comment if otherwise.)
Wild (BOTW Link)
Ok so we know he was stuck before the calamity following Zelda around
And while in game it seems like he's perfectly accepting of his role as her knight
And maybe could love her or grow to love her
I feel like after the Calamity, and after he meets you, its not possible anymore
It kinda feels like that same way ppl come to realize theyre lesbians??
Like he could've been straight and happy or content (not really, not fully, but in that way that gay women settle for staying with a man, he'd stay with Zelda maybe)
She used to be all he had left really, so maybe out of obligation he'd have stayed, but then he lost his memories.
And what was once a daily duty now became a woman he barely knew halfway across the kingdom, (who creepily randomly telepathically invaded his mind,,)
Link doesn't really realize how he feels until after traveling with you around the entirety of Hyrule, camping, fighting, cooking, eating etc. together, after becoming best friends with you,
Its like how a lesbian realizes they're lesbian bc they could never imagine themselves actually dating/married to a man, at least relying on him for the long term,
Then that sentiment comes in like "i just wish i could stay with my best (non-man) friend forever" kinda way
Like he definitely had the thought "this is so much easier, i wish we could be together forever" <3
So while "dating" you didn't necessarily occur to Link at first bc of heteronormative mindset/general mission of the Calamity Ganons
He quickly breaks out of that a couple months into the journey
Zelda at first may have been the quintessential "princess needing saving" but you were the "best friend love interest all along" type of energy you know?
So when at the end of you guys' journey, you feel the tug to leave, because the adventure's over.. you fully expect to see Zelda running into his arms or something, and turn away
You may be able to accept he loves women (tho how he looked at you and how comfortable he was touching you had you thinking possibly, maybe, hopefully otherwise)
But that doesn't mean you're going to sit here and watch it happen
(You know the games, the Legend of Zelda, this is how it always ends)
Instead, you feel lean but strong arms clamp around your torso
You're lifted up (even if you complain about how heavy you are, and he must be tired)
But Link is just smiling, and spins you around, Zelda is slack jawed in the background and then giggles??
Well, that's sweet, at least he remembered you were here instead of getting absorbed in her
Link practically whips you around, turning you in his arms
You stumble but he's too strong to let you falter in this position
He crushes you to his chest, a whispered "thank you" in your right ear, his breath is warm and ticklish
You awkwardly pat his back, "yeah, of course buddy, glad she's okay, and you're alright, you should get some rest. Oh, and you can have whatever I've got left in my iventory, since I won't be needing it anymore... you know I've gotta go soon."
You feel more see Link jump in shock, he grasps your shoulders (you didn't realize how hot his hands were until they were gone from your back)
You're worried he forgot about the whole "only here for adventures" Guide thing until painful understanding shows in his blue eyes
He immediately looks like the wind got knocked out of him
"Sorry Link, I wish I could stay to rebuild or explore Hyrule with you... but it's not my choice anymore."
You look apologetic but at least you know he won't be alone, that was your entire reason for being a Guide in the first place
But as you begin to fade (which, wow, Hylia really can't spare having you stick around for longer than a few minutes or seconds after Ganon's defeat??)
Link looks, panicked?
Like he's watching the Calamity happen all over again, but unlike in the game, he actually looks overwhelmed and freaked
His calloused hands attempt to grab you in various places, your arms, your waist, your shoulders, hands, just anything he can hold onto
But nothing works and you give him a sad smile, wishing him good luck with Zelda and the kingdom
And a reminder not to push himself too hard, bc you wont be there to stop him anymore
It's only just as the last of your vision fades (like a movie fading to black at the edges and closing in)
That you see him start to cry.
The first few months without you were hard, you had practically been the one constant in his life, afterall he couldn't remember much else so consistent before you
Sure, he had flickers of old memories, old friends, even of Zelda,
But they were special ones, specific moments, not having a routine every evening for who cooks dinner and who does dishes
No memory of someone helping him figure out how to dress himself, or how to shield surf down the best slopes
You were home, the very wilds he's grown to love and adore during his adventure, his house in Hateno was more like a inn he didn't pay for, rather than the warm fire you were sitting beside, lifting a blanket corner so he could curl up beside you
Zelda had understood, thankfully
She'd expected he would be different, memory loss can affect someone like that
But she'd said he seemed, better, lighter
Lighter than he ever was as a knight, even at the happiest she'd seen him
He'd helped some with the castle at first, but seeing how depressed he was, esp after she got other workers or Hylians to help, Zelda had sent him off
Under the flimsy excuse to go officially inform the rest of the kingdoms that she'd been freed and Ganon defeated
Link had unconciously returned to your favorite spots around Hyrule, and it had hurt in a different way to be around stables and have people ask where you were (you were more talkative than he was)
He'd started to avoid civilization unless absolutely necessary for supply runs, and he preferred to do so in disguise late at night..
So when Link's summoned on an adventure yet again to fight a threat so devastating it needs the previous incarnations of him...
He's actually looking forward to it.
Don't get him wrong, he wishes this weren't necessary to defeat the shadow, and he doesn't want anyone to get hurt, but if this is an adventure...
It means he might be able to see you again.
And he's willing to take on Ganon all over again, spend months at a time fighting and mowing down monsters, if it means you're allowed to be by his side once more
(He had tried praying to Hylia, which he didn't do much pre or post calamity usually, but for you he made an exception, and the blonde found that this was the one prayer that he could feel no divine eye turned on him for...? Her presence was practically gone when he prayed for you back)
But at least now, he realizes, he was right.
Thank goodness (not Hylia?) , he was right
Because Link could feel you,
As he'd learned towards the end of his journey, there was an innate 6th sense he had for feeling your presence, the closer you were, the more precise it was, even down to which way you were turned (all without him looking at you)
(He had ignored the strangely giddy feeling that bubbled up in his chest when Impa learned of this trick, and began to tell him, for the first time since his memories about it were gone, about soulmates)
Like familiar paths in Hyrule, he knew where a safe place to sleep was waiting,
You were waiting.

If you’re still doing the prompt thing, how about pre calamity Urbosa realizing that Zelda might not be the only one suffering from self worth issues ( she’s such a good mom, I can’t resist)
Ever since Link had assisted Zelda up from the sand after the Yiga incident, she was glued to side. The fright of her near assassination left her quiet and in shock, gripping his arm with a strength he could only compare to that of a moblin.
The whole trek from Kara Kara Bazaar to Gerudo Town was filled with her muttering apologies, saying sorry for avoiding him, for running away from him, for yelling at him. It seemed to finally click for her why he was even there in the first place.
While he was glad that she had made the realization, he hated that it had happened this way, that the outspoken brave girl he had come to know was hidden behind a shaking weak voice. She could barely manage the facade of normality, forcing her face to rest in a polite expression but no matter what she did, he could see how she failed to tame her rapid breaths and feel her racing heartbeat through how tightly she held onto him.
Urbosa was waiting just outside the walls of the town, after the hero had confided in her that his charge had left and went to search the desert for her. She could tell something was wrong the moment she could identify their silhouettes on the horizon.
"What happened?" The chieftain worried after a quick speedwalk two the duo.
"Yiga, She's okay," Link replied simply, but it provided enough information for now.
Even with Urbosa's hand on her back, Zelda's hold on her guard refused to lessen. For some reason, she suddenly took more comfort in his presence than she took even with her godmother.
Link hesitated when they reached the gates of the town, hyperaware of the spear-wielding guards within impaling distance. He wasn't allowed in town, at least not without some nonmalicious disguising. But when he attempted to hand off his traumatized charge to Urbosa, the princess's grip only got tighter. Her wide eyes frantically looked at him with a sudden fresh wave of fear.
"I'm not allowed in, your highness," He reasoned in the same tone of voice that he used when soothing his steed, though that part was a little accidental. Through Zelda's silence, she easily conveyed her discontent with the arrangement, sending a near-tearful pleading look to Urbosa.
"Well... It wouldn't be the first time we've made an exception to the rule for the hero," She considered before turning to the guards of the town, "Let it be known that the princess's personal knight be allowed in, so long as he doesn't cause any problems."
"Of course Lady Urbosa." the nearest one nodded, though she wasn't too worried as it wasn't Link's first time in Gerudo Town, even disguised he kept the master sword on his back which made him easy to identify.
"Come, let's get you two inside."
******
The princess rested her head against his shoulder, her iron hold finally relaxing for the first time since the incident. Even now when he could easily slip out of her grasp, but he decided not to, even if it would be far more comfortable to do so.
If he was truly honest with himself, it wasn't out of obligation that he stayed, or even the slight worry that she would wake if he moved.
Though he couldn't show it, the event had left him shaken too. The Yiga's blade had gotten far too close and he was nearly too late. If he had decided to check a different set of ruins first, if he had not recovered from nearly tripping in the sand, if he'd even struggled to weave through the merchants at the bazaar, the princess, Zelda, would've bled out onto the sand.
Now that it was all over and he'd had some time to process what had happened, it really started to hit him just how lucky he had been. How close he was to failing his most important responsibility, to dooming the entire kingdom, and proving everyone who doubted him right.
It shouldn't have been so hard to keep track of one person and keep them safe, he should've been better. He had to be better. It shouldn't be so easy for fools like the Yiga to take them by surprise.
He wondered if it had been a close enough call to warrant some kind of punishment, or if he had been successful enough to be given some hollow congratulations as if everyone wasn't just waiting for him to mess up.
He was the chosen hero, he had to be perfect at all times. Everyone depended on him being perfect and the pressure constantly threatened to suffocate him.
Worst of all, no one seemed to care, or even notice. Perhaps that was a testament to how strong his mask was, or how isolated he was from everyone he spent time with. He was cursed to remain that way, alone and silent and even if the princess were to warm up to him, he wouldn't dare get his hopes up in the thought that she might become someone he could confide in. She already had more than enough on her plate.
"Kid? You okay?" Urbosa's voice nearly startled him from his thoughts, he hadn't even noticed her in the doorway. What if she had been a Yiga? He had to be more vigilant.
Then he registered the question, it immidiately confused him. He wasn't the one that got attacked, he was clearly unhurt, why would he not be okay?
With this logic in mind, he nodded. The chief raised an unbelieving scarlet eyebrow.
"You two are very similar you know, I was surprised to find out that you didn't get along, but I guess I should've expected it. Instead of seeing your place being alongside hers, she could only see how her failures compared to your successes, but you never blamed her for that, did you?" Urbosa sat on Zelda's bed, looking at the sleeping princess with a certain fondness in her eyes.
"She has it worse than I do," Link muttered.
"That doesn't mean your problems don't matter. Even if you were right, it's ridiculous to compare the two as if you aren't two different people who deal with the stressors that come with carrying the weight of the fate of the kingdom on your collective shoulders differently. We're all fighting the same battle, so why are you so convinced that you must fight it alone?"
"I don't know, I guess... if people realize that I'm not as brave and strong and as perfect as they think, they'll lose hope. I don't... take pride in how important and heroic I am, I think I grew out of it." He didn't know why it was so easy to release the thoughts that have spiraled in his mind for years to the first person who seemed to acknowledge them.
Even though Urbosa was the strong terrifying leader of her people and a thundering presence, he had seen how she treated Zelda. He had stuffed away a foreign kind of jealousy at the sight of their closeness, knowing that it was too late for him to forge anything similar.
Maybe he was desperate, he wanted to be heard, he wanted to be understood, he wanted to be given a grain of sympathy after being consumed by the expectations of every single person who knew his name for so long. He just wanted someone to care.
"You're more than your destiny little knight. Your life will not end when the calamity is defeated, and you will have a whole new horizon of opportunity at your fingertips. You will be able to disappear into the woods if that's what you would like, though I would like to extend an offering. You will always have a home here, if you decide you can handle the dessert," She smiled as her words passed through him.
He had never really considered what would happen after, if he expected there would even be an after. His whole life had been centered around the calamity for so long that he forgot that there was an entire world outside of that.
He didn't have to be a knight when the greatest monster had fallen. He wasn't chained to a legacy in the same way that Zelda was. And if he was able to conquer the king of demons, why would he let any other King choose his path?
"Thanks, I'll consider it." He managed a slight upturn at the corners of his lips.
"Get some sleep, don't worry, I won't tell the King." She stood, eyeing the completely unnecessary contact between him and the slumbering princess. Suddenly the evidence of a smile disappeared from his cheeks and was replaced with a distinct dusting of pink.
At least his expression made Urbosa laugh because the insinuation was certainly not something he was enjoying unless he was truly honest with himself.
For a minute he stayed, enjoying the reminder that he wasn't alone, but eventually, he snuck out of her grasp. It was too early on to push his luck.

@gioandvanni replied to your post “I made myself a BotW/TotK Sheik because I miss him”:
I love your Shiek! Is there any lore accompanied with him? :o
Thank you so much!!
There is!! I wanted to include it with the post but ended up opting out!! I apologize if this is a little messy!!
My AU Sheik is quiet, blunt, and a tad surly. Despite being somewhat rude (though it's unintentional) he's considered very reliable by the other members of the village. Before Link appeared, he was the one who handled the problems in the Journal of Various Worries.
He's an excellent ninja, thanks to the training he received from Impa. Even with her only being able to teach him through verbal instructions, he excelled. Through learning the abilities of a Sheikah warrior, he's become somewhat disillusioned with their role and the fact that've "lost their teeth."
How he would function in game below the cut!!
BotW -
Unless Link has defeated at least one Divine Beast, Sheik won't speak to him and will only respond with "...." when being interacted with. He's almost always playing his harp near the goddess statue.
Opinions on him are split between the adults and children. The adults sigh that his skills have made him cold and arrogant while the children say he's a softie.
Cado will comment that if he lost the attitude, he could be the next guard for Lady Impa but his bluntness would offend any guest she would have.
Cottla on the other hand says that he's always playing with her and Koko and calls him big brother Sheik. Cottla thinks that if the adults tried to listen to him instead of speaking for him they'd get along better.
Once Link does defeat a Divine Beast, Sheik will finally begin to talk to him, apologizing for being rude and ignoring him. With the world in jeopardy from the Calamity again, Sheik is fed up with the village's seclusion and pacifism and wants to help fight but doesn't want to leave the village vulnerable without him.
He's glad there's at least one warrior in Hyrule that's capable of fighting back the Calamity and he confides in Link that if he could, he would like to serve as Princess Zelda's bodyguard when she's freed
During BotW he's a young man with a lot he feels he has to prove
TotK -
In TotK, Sheik has come into his own a lot more. Rather than listlessly playing his harp, he patrols Kakariko Village. He's almost always on edge, keeping an eye out for Yiga members. He's vocally against the Zonai survey team being in the village because of his worry that the Yiga could be hiding among them.
Despite this, he's serving as Paya's eyes and ears, acting as a spy/bodyguard to the village chief, something that he did for Impa after the defeat of Calamity Ganon. Though he still wishes he was serving Zelda, she was the one who gave him the role of protecting her dear friend and her heir, some he didn't complain.
He has a side quest with Link when he tells Link that he spotted a Yiga camp up in the mountains and wants to go with Link to destroy it. After doing so, Sheik tells Link he's finally had enough. The world is growing more and more dangerous and he refuses to wait to be saved again.
Following this, a scene with Sheik talking to Paya begins. He apologizes to her but says he needs to leave the village. Abandoning his duty and leaving just Dorian to protect Paya shames him but he can't sit by anymore when the world is on the road to ruin. He kneels to Paya, requesting permission to leave his post and start taking the fight to their enemies. Paya agrees on the condition that when he's done, he comes home safely.
After the event, he'll be at Lookout Landing, patrolling the walls. When Link speaks to him he seems much happier and comments that the world feels so much bigger now. He makes Link promise that when the battle really kicks off, he'll tell him so they can fight together.

For the astronomy asks… quasar for Link? I wanna hear all the lovey-dovey gushing hehe >:3 💕
I’m assuming he’s one of the F/Os you’ve been thinking about a lot lately with the recent release of TOTK but if I’m wrong I apologise haha 🙏🏻💗
Oh no worries! I have kinda been neck-deep in TotK recently so Link is definitely on my mind~ oh, uh, that being said, some TotK spoilers ahead so read at your own discretion 👀
Good gracious where do I start. Link is an adorable DORK. I think it's adorable how much of a foodie he is in both these games! And all the different songs he hums now when he cooks - he even hums the Lost Woods theme! I imagine he picked that one up from Koci somewhere during their travels~ at this point I figure it's like a folk song passed down through generations of Kokiri and Koroks. Like the Kokiri of the past (and the Koroks today) she's musically inclined so he definitely catches her singing it more than once~
I always loved that his hair was longer in BotW (I am.....a sucker for long hair fjshf) but now he lets it DOWN and HOO boy... Like in BotW I almost constantly wore the ancient helm because that was the only way you could see his hair down but now....hooohoho my goodness. I want to run my fingers through that hair. I think ever since they met, Koci would always ask to play with his hair, and Link would let her~ (and don't even get me STARTED on his voice. I know this is "gush all you want" but like...y'all don't need to see 6 pages of how adorable it is fkshfj)
He's a goofball for sure but I adore how kind and strong he is too. The fact that he's silent because he bears such a heavy weight on his shoulders, needing to look like the strong knight everyone expects him to be, and he doesn't want to ruin those expectations by speaking and being himself... This man needs all the hugs he can get. He spends so much time comforting and protecting and saving everyone else but when will it be his turn?? (don't worry I'll help it be his turn fkshf) Well, I say that, but I also think that Koci still has her recurring nightmare during the events of TotK, and the image of a groggy but concerned Link pushing himself awake in the middle of the night to hold her and lull her back to sleep with the promise of protecting her is just--MM!! *clenches fist* shit boi I die
I didn't elaborate much in my last post about Koci, but there is a LOT of emotion when she first sees him again after the Upheaval. She feels horribly guilty that she didn't stay with him below the castle, she should have pushed through the pain and protected him but she lost him for a second time - and the guilt worsens when she sees what happened to his arm. She's also afraid that Link has forgotten her again, just like he did when he woke up after the Calamity. Even with all that, she's so glad that he's alive and that he still came back to save her when the gloom consumed the Korok Forest. But Link isn't upset that she wasn't there with him before - he and Zelda were the ones who convinced Koci to go back up and recover, after all. He's just so, so happy to see her alive again, their first reaction is a long, tight and tearful hug.
This last one is really small and random, but if you've heard the Hateno Village day theme from under the wells, where it gets muffled...it sounds so cozy and like home. It's what I hear when I picture Link and Koci spending a relaxing afternoon inside his Hateno house - which, also, it's just precious that the picture from the end of the Champion's Ballad DLC in BotW is still on his wall there.

someone asked botw-headcanons about Zelda giving Link food so that he opens up more to her (I guess it were BOTW-Zelda and Link but I'm not sure). the answer was quite nice but somewhat short for my liking. I've thought about more (or it's actually totally silly); Zelda kind of spoils Link with lots and lots of food. and while he's digging through everything, Zelda keeps asking questions. to which Link answers right away and doesn't notice being questioned so much?
(I really like this! I wrote it pre-Ganon. Sorry if it’s a bit long.)
Their relationship had been improving over the last week, ever since the Yiga incident. It was a relief to Link, since Zelda was much more talkative and sweeter to him in general, but it also meant that his heart was absolutely confused. The princess had always been beautiful - he’d had eyes on her from the moment he saw her - but any feelings he had for her were easy enough ignored knowing that she didn’t care for him. But her feelings had changed. She treated him as a friend now, and it caught Link completely off guard.
Today, rather than following her on one of her usual early-morning missions, she had invited him for brunch. It wasn’t appropriate to refuse - and Link secretly was excited at the prospect of eating food made from Hyrule Castle’s own chefs - but that didn’t save it from being awkward. At least initially.
“I’m so glad you came,” Zelda said excitedly, swinging around the doors from the kitchen with two glasses of orange juice. “I’m sure you’ll love it.”
“I’m sure,” Link replied quietly, casting her a grateful smile as she placed the orange juice in front of him. She took a seat and smiled at him from across the table. “But you didn’t have to do this for me, Zelda.”
“Just see it as a show of gratitude for your saving my life,” she replied dismissively, and it was clear Link couldn’t fight her on that. It didn’t matter that it was just his duty, and it could happen time and time again. There was no arguing with her.
The chef came with the first few platters of food then, silver plates overloaded with eggs and bacon and fruit and potatoes. Link couldn’t hide the way his eyes lit up upon seeing it, and immediately was reminded that he hadn’t eaten yet. He filled his plate, but not too full, and started with the fried potatoes.
“What’s your favourite meal, Link?” Zelda asked casually, a little too casually, but the knight failed to notice.
“Breakfast,” he said bluntly, through a mouthful of simmered fruit.
“No,” Zelda replied with a laugh, “your favourite dish.”
“Oh,” Link replied, too distracted with the food in front of him to notice the humor in their exchange, “I guess… seared meat. I like it more on the rare side with salt and pepper and garlic.”
“Your mum used to cook for you and all your friends, right?”
“Yeah.”
“You… had lots of friends, didn’t you?”
Link paused in his eating then, slowly lowering his fork to the table.
“Yeah, we- there was a good group of us, before the sword came,” he said, a faint and faraway smile on his lips.
“You’re still happy though, Link, right?”
“Happy enough,” the blonde said, pushing away thoughts of his old friends and distracting himself with more bacon.
“You don’t mind following me around?”
Link paused, his focus moving slowly from his plate to Zelda. He narrowed his bright blue eyes at her, his mouth slowly dropping open, and suddenly slammed the end of his fork onto the table. Zelda shrunk in her chair. He had noticed.
Link quickly swallowed the rest of his bacon before blurting out, “You’re nosing!”
Any other time he would have been mortified to call the princess out on anything, but he was shocked that she had been so clever in trying to pry information - his own feelings - from him. Distracting him with food! And she’d succeeded!
“I’m sorry!” she cried back, colour flushing to her cheeks.
“You - this brunch was all a ruse -” Link stammered, still shocked, and in a brief moment of defiance he pushed his plate away a few inches. Zelda looked back at him helplessly.
“You talk more while you eat,” she admitted, “it’s the only way I can learn more about you, you’re so quiet all the time and I do all the talking, and you know so much about me and I know nothing about you.”  Her voice broke on the last word, and suddenly Zelda was staring down determinedly at her untouched plate of fruit. Link could only stare. She was on the brink of tears.
He considered arguing back for just a moment but promptly decided against it. She was right. His silence, which he thought he kept up to help others, had actively been hurting her. He felt cold, and guilty, sitting at the castle table and not knowing what to say - but then again, there was only one thing to say.
“I’m sorry,” he said suddenly, but still wishing he’d said it earlier. “I am. You’re right. Don’t cry,” he added, and Zelda blinked up at him, a single tear breaking free and rolling down her cheek.
“Oh goddesses,” she said with a weak laugh, “don’t give me that look. I’m fine,” she assured him, wiping at her eyes with her hands.
“You’re not, and it’s my fault,” he protested. “I’m sorry, Zelda.”
“So, you don’t mind following me around?” she asked suddenly, her voice cracking again. That was what she had wanted to know. Link felt his heart ache. He liked her - liked her, liked her, wanted nothing more but to spend time with her and listen to her talk about all the things she loved - and she was worried that he didn’t like her at all? How could he have been so stupid?
“It’s the best thing that could have happened to me,” he said quietly, and as hard as it was, kept his gaze steady as their eyes met. “I would have been alone otherwise. I love - I love being with you,” he said, though not without some struggle. It was the first time he’d opened up like this to her, but judging by the look on her face, she was more than grateful.
“Thank Hylia,” she sighed, and as she stood up and reached across the table, Link couldn’t resist the heat suddenly filling his chest and his cheeks. But Zelda simply pushed his plate closer to him, and then sat back down.
“What?” she asked him curiously, seeing the expression on his face. “Don’t tell me you don’t like the food?”
“N-no, it’s great,” he stammered, immediately stuffing a forkful of bacon and eggs into his mouth. Zelda laughed then, helping herself to more food, and proceeded to ask him a variety of questions throughout their meal; though most of them were a little more lighthearted. It was during dessert, when Zelda ate the most - clearly she’d been saving room for the fruit tart - that Link realised he was officially screwed. I love her. If only he would ever be able to tell her. …Maybe with some more food.
