I don't want to talk about this in art account i made to spread my art to other people, but i can be silent when my country and people are suffering from russian aggression
I'm scared for my family
For myself
Yesterday and today i spent all night and morning at the basement of my house because it's was huge missile and drones attack at all Ukraine and who know if this night they will do it again
I just want to live peaceful life, draw what i want, be happy, find a job,but all this impossible when russia try to kill you. every.single.day.
All i think right know that i scared for that night and i don't know if i survive if they again attack us with rockets
I'm sick to my stomach, all i can do it's cry and hope today me and my family will live
Please don't close your eyes on this. It a genocide. They will not stop when they occupied all country and kill as all.
Please support Ukraine and pray for us because if Ukraine fall - next it can be your country.

The fact that no one across all of DC fandom (as far as I can tell) has mined the beautiful comedic potential that is the night and day difference between Tim and Damians current canonical love interests

Can we please talk about Sof'ja Tolstaya?
She became Leo Tolstoy's wife at 18, when he was 34. She was an amazing and strong woman, who had to deal with an incredibly misogynistic and lunatic husband, 13 children, and was forced to give up on all her literary aspirations – yet she wrote.
Tumblr media
Her main works of fiction, two novellas she wrote as a response to her husband's The Kreutzer Sonata, didn't get published during her life, for they were extremely critical of Lev's work.
Whose fault? and Song Without Words were rediscovered and made accessible to a wider public only in the 21st century, along with her diaries, spanning through decades, and an autobiography.

Sofja (head of the table, to the right), and Lev (first man on her right) with their family; Cassell and Co, NY, 1911
Some useful sources:
Wikipedia article dedicated to her
short and eloquent article on The Guardian
free online copy of Autobiography of Sophie Andreevna Tolstoi on archive.org
SoundCloud podcast episode "Sofia Tolstoy" by John Sandoe Books (I haven't personally listened to it)

I wish 'tragedy' was a common genre for books and comics. Why did people stop writing miseries? Is no one goth? When I have sad feelings caught inside me like a hairball in a drain why should I have to go to a 100 yr old Russian author's doorstep to read something bleak?
Emotionally distraught book/series/comic recommendations are welcome.

A few days ago I finally got around to putting warframe into Russian so I can try to learn a bit faster, it's been really challenging cause I don't know the vast majority of the words still (sorry to the people I was trading with while taking forever to search through my inventory lmfao), but I've played enough to remember most button and text placements to get by well enough. Crazy thing is that it's actually kinda working, I'm actually stopping to learn some of these words and it's so much more fun than the usual Russian homework lol. It's actually kinda fun to have the extra challenge layered over the game

Greetings,I have two questions.
1)Any Russian classical literature you enjoy?
2)Is there any Italian classical literature that you could recommend?
I quite liked reading "The Brothers Karamazov" and "War and Peace" as far as russian literature goes - though on that front I'll say I absolutely hated Gogol's "Dead Souls" and that alone almost made me want to give up on russian lit in general lol
I would say italian lit is hard to recommend without knowing what someone's tastes are... especially since a lot of the things I've read are poetry collections (on that front: Montale and D'Annunzio are my favourite recent-er authors, but the true classics such as Petrarca and Leopardi are never forgotten + for theatre plays I loved reading Goldoni's plots). I did really like both "Uno Nessuno Centomila" and "I Malavoglia", and when I was in elementary school I loved both Calvino and Salgari's works - "Le ultime lettere di Jacopo Ortis" too, and the "Decameron", and I still have yet to read "Il nome della rosa" but I can safely recommend that as well.
^ these are from very different genres and centuries, so, I'd suggest looking them up individually and seeing which ones best resonate with your tastes. The only mandatory thing I suggest is the Divine Commedy because I'm predictable and it is that good.
