HPMI ARB April Fool’s Day Voice Lines

It's a little late since the lines are gone from the homescreen, but here are all of this year's (2021) ARB's April Fool's Lines!

You can however listen to them in the game's COLLECTION. In voice lines, they should be labelled as マイルーム（エイプリルフール), at around the middle of the voice collection.

There will also be 'Spring Voice Lines' but I won't be translating these - they'll be in My Room until the 14th.

Here are the lines that fit together:

Ichiro 2 + Jiro 1 + Saburo 1: Ichiro jokes that he wants macarons, but Jiro went to buy them and Saburo was planning to.

Samatoki 1 + Jyuto 1 + Rio 1: Rio’s told by Dice to joke that he’s opening a restaurant but Samatoki and Jyuto can’t tell if it’s a lie or not.

Ramuda 2 + Gentaro 2+ Dice 1/2: Gentaro’s prank is that he won’t lie - however, Ramuda is the one who decides to prank Dice. Dice, not expecting it from Ramuda, since he was prepared for Gentaro, believes that the two are trying to harvest his organs.

Hifumi B + Doppo 1: Hifumi tries to get Doppo to tell a joke but he can’t do very well.

Kuko 1 + Jyushi 1 + Hitoya 1: Hitoya tells Jyushi to yell “OBJECTION” at people who try to prank him, so when Kuko tries to get Jyushi, he’s the one who gets the surprise instead.

hypmic characters & affection hcs

i didn’t write these in order so some are about hugs n stuff and some are more about emotional affection but i hope you like it anyway! it’s all the divisions & chuuoku ｀;:゛;｀;･(°ε° )

i tried to make them about both platonic and romantic love (bc i love both) but some are more one than the other oh well

Ichiro will full-body hug you at all times. It looks like he’d squeeze you hard, but his hugs are surprisingly gentle, and he would never intentionally hurt you. He’s absolutely the type to pick you up and hold you tight when you haven’t seen each other for a while. If you become really close, even just as friends, he’ll give you kisses on the top of your head.

Jiro gives hugs the most when he’s trying to reassure someone. He’s not the best at giving advice and stuff like that, so he’ll do his best to tell you that he’s got your back by holding you close. He’ll let you cry on his shoulder if you need to, and he refuses to let go until you’re feeling alright.

Saburo will be too shy to initiate contact most of the time but he doesn’t mind it with his friends. When he’s looking for comfort he’ll very gently tug on your sleeve with an anxious look, and he’ll settle down once you’ve brought him into your arms. He forgets all too easily that he loves being held by someone he trusts.

Samatoki will give little bits of physical affection that seem mundane at first, but he gets close enough that you can tell it’s his way of showing that he cares. The most common will be his hand on your arm or shoulder as he asks how your day’s been, maybe working up to a hug. From that, and the sweet smile on his face as he does it, it becomes clear that he’s more than genuine.

Jyuto doesn’t think there’s a huge barrier between what levels of affection you should show whether it’s a platonic or romantic relationship, only because he thinks both are equally important. And he’ll respect your boundaries because he has his own. When you’re excited about something he’ll ruffle your hair to show support, and in return he loves gentle strokes to his hair (the bunny loves being pet, what can I say?).

Riou loves having one arm over your shoulder as you’re lying down, admiring the sky. Whether you’re looking at clouds floating by or the twinkling stars, Riou could lose hours staring at them with you by his side. His hugs are so warm that it’s easy to get sleepy in his arms. Seeing you feel safe around him is all that Riou could ask for.

Ramuda is the clingiest hugger ever, in the best way possible. It’s kind of scary how easy it is for him to tell when something’s amiss, and he’ll be attached to you until whatever was bothering you has gone away. It feels more intimate for him to hold someone’s hand than much else, so he’ll save it for super special occasions.

Gentaro is fonder of casual affection than anything else. Whenever the two of you are hanging out he won’t mind if you lean on his shoulder as he reads, and vice versa. It’s like a little reminder that you’ve got his back when he needs it. Likes the occasional pat on the shoulder (and on the head too but he’d never say it).

Dice needs physical affection a lot more than he lets on, but it’s not as if he tries to hide it. When you’re hanging around with him and he’s in the mood for a cuddle he’ll whine and sigh dramatically until you get the hint. It turns into a habit, Dice asking for a hug without him actually saying it. And it’s only because he’s too embarrassed to admit it. One thing he can rely on is that your arms will always be open to welcome him, whatever state he’s in.

Jakurai has the softest hugs in the world. It starts with him placing his hand on your back to ask for permission, and when he gets it he puts his other hand on the back of your head, bringing you to his body with as much caution as if you were made of glass. But there is a strange strength to his embrace. It feels like if anyone tried to pry his arms open they wouldn’t budge at all.

Hifumi will, of course, act differently depending on which side of him you’re interacting with. But if you’re close with him he’ll be happy to cuddle you no matter which Hifumi it is, because after all, they are the same person. If you’re alright with it, he likes flirting with you platonically (you get me?) to make you smile. But he can’t take it. Being told compliments as you hug him make him weak.

Doppo loves bedtime snuggles. Just being able to forget about the world outside of the bed is one of his favourite feelings, especially with the warmth of a loved one. Even just knowing someone cares about his well-being enough to want to be there with him as he falls asleep is enough to warm his heart. Waking up next to them and being free to drift in and out of sleep in the warmth is something he’ll secretly cherish forever.

Kuko (canonically I think) isn’t fond of being around too many people, so his affections come out when you’re hanging out alone, and even then it’ll take a while for his sappy side to come out. Standing shoulder to shoulder enough affection for him at the start, but over time he finds himself realising how much he just wants to snooze and cuddle next to you.

Jyushi needs hugs so much. When he’s nervous, before a live show, after practice, you name it and Jyushi wants a hug. Most hugs will be you hugging him as he’s hugging Amanda. Letting you get so close to Amanda is a whole honour in itself! If he’s not up for a hug and needs his space, before you can get to him he’ll bonk you on the nose with Amanda’s squishy snout.

Hitoya will only let you be affectionate in private. Out in the world he’s more stoic than soft, but in the comfort of his or your home he’s game for anything. He loves kicking back with you, making some food and drinks and chatting about whatever. That alone is intimate for him, but your embrace would make him even happier with your relationship.

Sasara will opt for fleeting touches, like a quick hand squeeze or a hug that’s over before you know it. He’ll make you just want to wrap him up in your arms and not let him skip away with that annoyingly cute grin of his. If you do he’ll say that it’s too much for him (jokingly of course), but the reality is that he gets embarrassed. If you tease him about it then there’s no telling what might happen.

Rosho makes sure the affection is equal between you. You hug him, he hugs back, you compliment him, and he compliments you back. Even if he blushes the whole time. His favourite way of showing affection is definitely through words. Hearing that his jokes amuse you make him blush up to his ears, and he’d have no idea how much he loves being complimented on his appearance.

Rei isn’t a hugely sentimental guy, so it’d take some convincing that you’re trying to be affectionate towards him. There’d be a lot of trial and error, finding out what works for the two of you. Saying “You did good today.” or “It’s nice to see you here!” will be the tipping point. Actually getting to admit that he likes your company is the hard part.

Otome is cautious of opening up to someone, but with enough mutual love and trust it’ll come through. There’s a mine of affection sitting inside her, with glimpses coming through every now and then. Stroking her hand while she’s talking about something she’s invested in shows her you care, while also letting her have her space.

Ichijuku takes a while to warm up to a lot of physical affection, but she wants to! She appreciates how much you’d pay attention to when she gets a little antsy and needs some alone time. The pay-off would be worth it though as she’d start to surprise you with greeting hugs, and maybe even a light-hearted kiss on the cheek to show how thankful she is to have you in her life.

Nemu loves little hugs and squeezes throughout the day, making sure to get one in before and after work. Knowing she has someone warm to hug when she gets home makes all the hard work worth it. She also loves binge watching her favourite shows with yummy snacks to last you all night, and the two of you huddled under a warm blanket.

Day 19 Bonus: Buster Bros!!! vs Dotsutaire Honpo

I’m gonna start with the music this time because just writing like one of the story/character bit...was taking a while. So in terms of music...I have to give it over to the Buster Bros. With their individual albums, it just got so much better for the Buster Bros as they’re becoming more distinct with their personality in their sound. Like Break the Wall is one of my top solos and y’all just unfortunate that Saburo used like one of the classical pieces I thought fucking slapped even before he messed with it. And I’m so happy for them.

DH has a bit of a disadvantage of being a new group and thus having less to compare. But so far....eh. I think DH is very hit or miss for me. Like Matenrou, they have such differing talents and subject matters that it either turns into a strange symphony or some mishmash that just makes it eh. Which is generally my feeling with their group songs as I really love Ah, Osaka Dreaming Night but I am not impressed with Wara Osaka. And I am okay with their solo songs but to be fair to them, a lot of the songs I prefer for the already established group was their second solo, not the first, which is their introductory ones.

As for Joy for Struggle, yeah, Buster Bros took that for me. DH I get is supposed to be more carefree than a lot of the other teams that are a bit more serious but I think that attitude really bit them in the ass for this battle. And BB did not have time to be playing around. I thought Saburo had more confidence this time and let that truly nasty attitude leave some spikes behind. Saburo really was like ‘How many times we gotta teach you this lesson, old man?!’ Jiro actually had some good retorts! I’m so sorry, I love him I swear but he had so much to grow in terms of coming with bite and it’s starting to show! The chihuahua vs tiger comparison! And while I do appreciate that Rosho and Sasara stay true in their manzai act...it really just didn’t land for me in the battle and Jiro and Saburo were quick to gnaw at it.

And then...there’s the verse against Ichiro. I won’t say they stick with me as well as War War War but quite frankly Ichiro vs Sasara and later Rei are more of a battle of ideals. And to me, Ichiro poured more into his than those two. Because Rei’s were just belittling the boys because they’re younger and like they went down some wrong path. Both Saburo and Ichiro weren’t having any of that. Like who the fuck are you to step in and tell us off? At least MTC were more of like ‘come back when you’re more polished.’ And with Sasara, I think Ichiro delivered the line that is my entire thing with this battle: ‘Floaty words like that won’t sting us at all.’ I feel like DH lacked enough bite against BB and it shows. The only real bite back is from Rei and even he doesn’t seem to have that much that actually phased BB in my opinion.

In terms of story/character wise...it’s really hard to make a decision. Because for all the teams, it’s really a matter of the dynamics against the others. And DH have it so stacked for them just because of Rei. Sure, I may not like him but he is very interesting in terms of being a vehicle for developments to happen. He seems to know a lot of things and people so he becomes such a presence that could tempt so many things into happening. Like if it was DH vs FP, he knows the fuck about Ramuda! He fucking made him! And I have little doubt it was him on the phone with Ramuda in Catch Us If You Can drama track. And at the end of the previous DRB...at least what sticks out in my mind and I may have to double check but I think he mentioned some interest in Ramuda after telling about how the true hypnosis mic being used would’ve shot Chuuoku in the foot. Also added to that, Rei likely knows Gentaro. For what reason? We don’t quite know but it can be assumed it’s because he’s doing something for Gentaro. Either looking into Ramuda since the ‘legal’ way wasn’t reaping anything or if Gentaro is hiding something, then Rei might be helping him hide it. Also also, Rei is one of the few rappers that know who Dice is! He and Otome were talking about their kids! That’s HUGE since Dice hasn’t told anyone about this aspect of his life. Rei alone would make such a juggernaut for FP.

I honestly can’t think of anything for DH vs BAT, sorry. They don’t seem to have any history besides Kuko and Sasara both being in MCD for a time...but I don’t recall that time really being elaborated on soooooo yeah.

If it were DH vs MTC, that’s more of a dynamic between Sasara and Samatoki. Which I think would be the time to figure things out between them. Because Samatoki was left with why and never got an answer. And seeing him again, Sasara can’t run away. He can try but pretty sure that Samatoki could outrun him. It also would be a time of like Sasara’s dynamic between the two men that have been his partners, Samatoki and Rosho. The people that were close to Sasara and whom he feels the most towards. I honestly can’t think of much else besides that but I’m sure KR will find a way to have the guys piss each other off. I’m just here for SamaSasa and SasaRo shenanigans. (I guess we could see if Rio does know Rei since in theory he SHOULD know who he is since it sounds like the hypmic was in development when Rio was serving and he tested some aspect of it).

I think DH vs MTR would be kinda funny. Like for some reason I think that Sasara and Rosho would get really fucking mad at how Hifumi and Doppo just naturally have that manzai energy by virtue of being best friends and roommates. I have personal experience of people being like ‘this IS a show’ of just watching and listening to me and my best friend and roommate just going back and forth. I feel like it’d just be so damn funny if it was over something not as serious I guess? But then that’d all be ruined because I feel like Rei would either expose to Hifumi and Doppo of Jakurai’s cooperation with Chuuoku, which while they don’t have any personal reason to really hate Chuuoku, wouldn’t feel comfortable with it either. Or. OR, my god, let him expose Jakurai’s assassin past, something he seems to feel nothing but shame for and also ruining his perfect image. Because Rei just seems like he’d be willing to do that.

So yeah, a lot of drama that could happen because of frickin’ Rei and some loose ends to deal with from Sasara. By comparison, BB has some things but they wouldn’t be as dire as DH’s. Like with BB vs BAT, this could be the chance for Ichiro to get his answers from Kuko. He never got an answer either. He was left with heartbreak and never given the why. And Kuko either has rationalized or will be in for a rude awakening having to go head on with Ichiro. Because they were close. Kuko had to care about Ichiro in some capacity to willingly help some group he knew was sketch and didn’t like. Why did that change? He had to have meditated on this at some point! Meanwhile, I really hope that Jiro and Jyushi and Kuko can get along if the reconciliation with Ichiro doesn’t happen! They’d be such an eclectic group but would be so much trouble too! (And please let Jiro and Jyushi play together. Ever since someone wrote about it, it lives in my head rent free) I really am hoping for it. All the while, Hitoya is like ‘shit, now I gotta adopt MORE kids. Why are there so many of these little shits running around without supervision???’

I can’t think of much for BB vs FP since I just don’t see their circles running that close and it just didn’t feel like Ichiro was close to Ramuda even back with TDD. Most I can think of is Jiro, who is also pretty thoughtless, saying the wrong thing to Gentaro and it’s The Rivalry 2.0. But overall can’t think of anything too specific.

It’d hurt me if it was BB vs MTR. Because for some reason I see that most of MTR treat the BB like their little siblings and in Jakurai’s case, it’s like going to go fight his kids (I will go down on the hill of occasional dadkurai shenanigans!). And while Saburo and Jiro have and still do make fun of Doppo, I think he also has their respect because he looks out for them in a different way but still same energy as Ichiro does. Probably because he is an older brother. I don’t really think any of the guys can say anything to bother Hifumi and it’s more of Hifumi being fucking thoughtless and saying the wrong thing. I feel like he’d piss off Saburo somehow. And with Jakurai and Ichiro...it’s a ‘nothing personal, just business’ although I think Jakurai would be proud of Ichiro either way.

And then there’s just rematch energy if it’s BB vs MTC. Honestly? The real thing I would love to see from if this happened is for Jiro and Saburo to have a reevaluation of MTC. Because the main reason they were so aggressive and hostile towards them is because of Ichiro’s grudge with Samatoki. They just took it as ‘if they’re Ichi-nii’s enemy, they’re our enemy.’ But since they’re taking this step of coming on their own, they also need to think about if they can still dislike these guys because Ichiro’s beef isn’t theirs. I mean, Jiro probably still doesn’t like Jyuto because he’s a delinquent and fuck cops y’know sorta rebelliousness. And I don’t think Saburo particularly dislikes Rio and vice versa. The thing with Ichiro and Samatoki is honestly secondary to this. And I feel would be the time for Samatoki to let go since he KNOWS now that it wasn’t Ichiro that got Nemu to leave but Ramuda but it’s a matter of if his pride would allow him. And Ichiro would have to realize that while he lost their fight...he won in the end since he’s the one that kept his brothers while Samatoki lost Nemu. He’s gotta feel for him and understand why Samatoki was/is mad at him. (Also long shot but if they could talk about how Samatoki also exacerbated his hesitance to trust others, that’d be greeeeaaattttt).

So yeah, I’ve thought about how these dynamics and things and you’d think weighing them all would make this choice easy. And it is. In a way. Because for me, I’d choose Buster Bros. I do like Sasara a lot and Rosho I think is fine but their third really sours for me. I know some can keep that bias aside and look, I did talk about what all he can do...but he alone can’t carry the sound for the team. Story, sure, but not the music. While I really would like some of the threads that Rei brings...it’s not completely impossible for him to still be around if any of the other teams do advance. I mean, they’re all the only men stuck in Chuuoku for the time of the DRB and having to pass each other while going to their own rooms or box seating. He has ways. So yeah, if I had voted on DH vs BB, this is what I would’ve gone with.

Pfft, I am suuuuper late

But my final thoughts!

As you can see from above, I want BB, M, and FP to win. I only realized that I just needed Samatoki in there to be TDD haha Honestly a bit disappointing that I didn’t but lemme explain myself for my reasons.

While I do love the new divisions (I’m a hard DH fan tbh lol), I mostly wanted to focus on how it would affect the story and then the group’s performance. Since the start, before the lives, I wanted to support BB, M, and MTC. As you can see, It’s been changed from MTC to FP X”D

(Black Journey is too powerful imo it has me rolling every time. Though ramuda’s first beginning aprt definitely caught me off guard and that lil intro had me laughing. That chorus??? Freaking <3<3)

Buster Bros, I think I only got around to talk about the first two groups never the next two pfft. As much as I would like to see our favorite comedy duo win, I really want them to beat their father and get a sense of victory as well. I won’t forget the fact that they were the first to go first DRB rip Re:Start is ultimately better than Wara Osaka in my opinion, even if its tacky dance lives rent free in my mind and I think about them often lol. Jiro’s Aniki is going to take some time to get used to, but I think that development (all of them, save Ichiro tbh ??) in the drama track has pulled my heartstrings and they’re adorable.

Hmm, honestly when it does come to M vs BAT, my sibling has had me conflicted many times. (She’s also the one that converted me from MTC to FP blame her lol) It’s true- if BB is going to win, wouldn’t we want a Naughty Busters like reunion? If we aren’t going to get it from DH and MTC that is. Kaigen and RIP are also superb compared to Tomoshibi... (it was a good song I swear- just come on, BAT had more energy this time around XD It fit the hype I was looking for in the 2nd DRB) Rip for Kuko’s scream that isn’t in the actual recording only in the live ashdjkk. If he doesn’t do that future lives still Imma be sad lmao. Anyways I don’t think the “champions” should just go afterwards either. Also les make that inferior complex worse ehhhhh jkjk Also, overall I just feel like M’s popularity and that Drama track might secure them that win. I think the plot might be cleaner then?? Of course, it’s all debatable and Im sure that if either team won, the story could still develop just fine.

Dear goodness, Jyuuto’s part in Hunting Charm actually haunts me. Anyways, Fp doesn’t deserve to lose, what was that one joke floating around about the pink one getting it. Please. I’ll be honest, for the amount of hype that I had for the 2nd DRB, DhvsBB disappointed me... In the sense of energy of course- I still find it a heckin good bop. But I think what I wanted was just them spitting fire at each other, just fire XDD It was cute- their lil manzai and joking, but I think it would’ve been cooler to throw heat in there. Seemed more to DH’s vibe than a mixed battle vibe.

Now the other two songs, much like the past DRB songs were LIT. I absolutely loved them. That banger part in Reason to Fight that makes me throw my hands in the air to go with the beat (Yall know it lol) is killer. Doppo’s scream -beautiful as always (but also Jyushi’s and kuko’s lol)- including just the raw energy I felt from Light Shadow was absolutely phenomenal.

I honestly wish there was more anger(?) in Dh and Bb But I also get why it didn’t lol Either way, although they're like my top favorite divisions, that’s my reasoning. I’d chat about the Drama tracks too, but tbh I haven’t seen the translations yet so I don’t wanna spread misconceptions lol

And he has the wolf glare of Samatoki and it’s intimidating as fuck

And when he gets the chance to like go to the guy that touched you, he breathes down a very very very heavy threat and actually steals the knife from him and points it at the molester’s penis and threatens to also chop this off first after he dismembers him

And remember, Ichiro is muscular as fuck, so his gait is even more intimidating that you know that

Jiro

Ah Jiro, he’s scared to do anything, so instead he just makes a big commotion like swinging on the bars and singing

And off he’s famous so people look and he’s giving them smiles and all that

So the guy backs off because he might draw attention to himself if he continues

Then jiro suddenly boldened calls out the guy and everyone instantly turns on him and calls him out

Jiro simply pulls you out next stop as the others beat him up

Saburo

He knows how to slip in between spaces, and he can be scary when he wants to be

Plus he might be smol but he actually toll so he would be able to shield you effectively

He would do his best to get to you, but would avoid a fight as much as possible

But he would show his mic and threaten the guy with his eyes

And it would be a pissing contest until of course saburo strategically bumps into someone and so and so forth the guy eventually gets off the train

Samatoki

He’s on the guy so fast, like not physically but one glare from the yakuza gets him to back off

And the moment he gets a window of opportunity, he grabs the guy and beats him to shit

He grabs the knife and cuts him a few times, especially on the face before he stabs it into the guy’s thigh, literally burying the knife

And at the next stop, literally tosses the schmuck out of the train and into the pavement

It depends on you whether he’ll continue or not, if not, then he’ll call his henchmen to pickup the package

Jyuto

He’s a cop, al he gotta do is flash the badge, give an eyebrow raise and a glare

The man is off instantly at the sight of the hypnosis mic also

But he goes ahead and slides in between the crowd, them making space for the officer even if there is none

And Jyuto simply puts himself between you and him then proceeds to handcuff him to the train

He asks for his name and tells him: I’ll make sure to remember it

Then he grabs the knife and pockets it and whispers into the guy’s ear: I never forget names, but people want me to

Riou

Riou straight up calls him out, like his booming voice from across the train

And it’s not embarrassing for you because he’s making a scene, but he’s calling the guy out

And much like Jiro’s situation, everyone turns on him, except Riou has Samatoki level rage and actually goes to him to beat him up

And the guy is just a paperweight compared to Riou so he lifts him up after beating him up then tosses him out of the train without another word

Ramuda

Can literally appear out of nowhere the moment he sees what’s happening

He pops up right next to the guy with the cheery smile and all that

But then he makes the threat and starts with the low dark Ramuda voice and it’s fucking terrifying because his eyes are wide and his head is tilted

The guy at first tells Ramuda to get off, but Ramuda doesn’t budge at all and chuckles darkly, stepping on a chair to whisper a very heavy threat

And also he flashes his own hypnosis mic and threatens him well, but in a very scary way, like not only murder but a promise of his whole life going downhill

Gentaro

Not that confrontational, so he wouldn’t exactly do anything beyond pushing someone so that everyone else gets pushed and in result ends up pushing him

He could also strategically trip people so that he could push in more so that he’s closer to you

And he might pul the famous card or he would lie about a lot of things, like trains being rerouted until he gets to you and manages to shield you from the guy

Dice

Oh this happens a lot and he sees it all the time because sometimes he sleeps on trains

So what he does is just call him out in a rage and wager that he can beat him in a fight

But he doesn’t give the guy time to answer because he like pushes everyone out of the way and beats the man to a pulp

Like really, dice can defend himself and he’s actually strong so like honestly???? Everyone who gets in his fucking way or hurts you can go die

And he steals the guy’s wallet and threatens to kill him if he goes to the police for the wallet

Jakurai

The assassin will manage to squeeze past everyone to get behind the guy and press a knife to the guy’s back

And in his very low voice, he would outline how he would let the guy bleed out slowly

Like he could make him paralysed from head to toe, or better yet he administers a pinch that would render him like paralysed while he trails the blade subtly up and down

And he’s whispering threats while feigning the appearance of just having a conversation

But Jakurai is a silent and deadly machine, you don’t fuck with death unless you want it

Doppo

he wouldn’t allow you two to be separated

He’s been on the train how many times and he knows how it is

Like legitimately, he keeps you at his side at all times so there’s no way in hell he would even think about letting that happen to you

He’s too much of an anxious guy to let you out of his sight for even a second

But if it does happen, Doppo enters a completely different mindset and threatens whoever touched you or actually pushes the guy out and beats him up with an incredible verse

Hifumi

He won’t be in suit because he’s supposed to be on a date with you and not flirting with everyone else

But honestly, he would push down whatever fear of brushing against women for you as he makes his way there

And honestly, he’s a big puppy, so he would probably cling to you on the subway for all eternity, so the likelihood of this happening is very very low because like Doppo, he’s anxious in a completely different way

But yeah, he’s not that confrontational, so he would probably use himself as a human shield instead

first of all feel free to ignore this because this is just gonna be me ranting for a few mins

but like

I AM LITERALLY SO HYPED FOR JAKURAI'S PV. obviously because of all the recent lore/character development i no longer have a favorite in hypmic because it's literally impossible now (and everyone deserves love!!!) but jakurai's design/rap style/backstory was the entire reason i first noticed and got into hypmic plus he's also exactly my type on a fictional character. that and the fact that his va is hayami sho, who quite possibly is my favorite seiyu and i could go into another rant about why that is but let's just say i have nothing but respect for him bc come on he's at an age where most people would think about retiring but instead he was like "oh, what about i challenge rap" and did it SO WELL that i literally cannot believe he had no prior experience in it???? (i mean. just. listen to labyrinth wall/meikyuuheki) basically, i love everyone in hypmic but all and any jaku content (fanmade or canon idc) still holds a special place in my heart and his upcoming solo is no different

ANYWAY!!! i just can't wait for the trailer premiere and i'm even more hyped for what his new solo could possibly be about - i think we were all expecting solos that hint at possible future events in the drama tracks (like remember the visuals in samatoki's solo suggesting possible betrayal from one of the mtc members? or ramuda's pink colored love basically confirming the fact that's he's not human?), but since doppo and hifumi's solos were both very typical of them (except some... interesting lyrics in hifumi's chorus like i said before) maybe jakurai's would be similar? or it could be different and he might snap like saburo did (i'd actually like to hear what that sounds like for myself lol). i guess we'll all have to wait until the pv comes out to know but that won't stop me from making theories in the meantime

Jakurai doesn’t consider himself a man of many indulgences.

He could make many excuses as to why that is, whether it’shis schedule, his lack of desire, his priorities–anything. There’s along list of things that come before his own pleasures that he has sorted downto a particular science and he’s too meticulous to stray from it at this pointin his life. Or perhaps he’s just getting old–too stubborn to strayfrom habit to fix what’s not entirely broken.

The only problem is that his current predicament might be inneed of fixing, given that it’s not the first time he’s had to deal withit in just the past two weeks.

Jakurai sighs to himself, having woken up from another dream–sovery unlike him, as seeing things in his sleep only ever means bad news.They’re not like the nightmares, at least, but he wonders if they’re worse.There is tea to drink and syringes to fiddle with when he is restless frombattle-hardened memories, but there is no quick fix to longing,indefinite as it is. Matters of the heart are confusing andfrustrating–incomprehensible and without reason. Jakurai dislikes problemsthat don’t come with decided formulas, even if he begrudgingly understands thathe’s no exception their inevitable nature.

He’d prefer it, at least, if that said longing took a moreshapeless, anonymous form. It’d be far, far easier if he didn’tassociate his desires with you.

Another sigh escapes him as he sits up, ever aware of the heatthat’s coiled up at his very core and how he strains against his pants.He’s not been a teenager for some time, but Jakurai is certain he’s notexperienced inane wet dreams in just as long. Faint images of animaginary you remain in his mind–your lips wrapped around his cock as you lookup to him, observing every reaction he gives you. The thought isn’t nearly assatisfying when he’s lucid, as the feeling ghosts along him instead ofactually providing anything of substance. Jakurai drags his legs over the sideof the bed and puts his face in his hands with a groan. He will have to takecare of this, even though a small part of him loathes putting the effort into asolution that will only last him a short while.

The clock reads 2:17 AM.

As it turns to 2:18, his phone rings.

Jakurai doesn’t bother to check the name before quicklyanswering it, hoping that maybe whoever it is may have more importantmatters to distract him with. Perhaps it’s Ichiro-kun, who’ll apologize for thelate hour but insist he needs some over-the-counter suggestions for one of hisbrothers… He considers Doppo-kun, but realizes he’d more likely be trying tosleep at this hour. Hifumi-kun should be at work, and–

“Oh, Jakurai-san? I didn’t think you’d answer at this hour.”

… Ah. This is quite the predicament.

“… It’s not very common,” he grunts out, cursing his ownluck that the very source of his distractions is just on the other end of theline. The sound of your voice sends a shiver down his spine and Jakurai pincheshis own thigh, as if reminding himself to keep his composure.

“You do sound like you’ve just woken up,” you say,sounding a little guilty. “I apologize if–”

“No,” he says, too hasty, before he shakes his head,trying to get rid of the haze. “No, I was… already awake. It’s no trouble. Whatwas it you wished to call me for?”

“You asked me for those documents a few days ago, remember?I’ve finally gotten them gathered and organized, so I figured I’d leave you avoicemail since your phone is usually off at these hours.”

“Is… that right?” he asks, just barely able to wrap his mindaround what you’re talking about. Jakurai ends up focusing so much on the soundof your voice that he can’t even comprehend what you’re saying. Goodness.

“… You sound flustered, Jakurai-san,” you say, soundingsuspicious. He shivers again at the sound of his name on your tongue. “Did I…perhaps interrupt something?”

Ah. A direct question, as always. Jakurai clears his throat,caught off guard, but he knows that alone has given him away and he wonders ifyou have that curious smile turning your lips up at this revelation. Thesilence is heavy, but you wait for his answer patiently. He swallows.

“… Something like that, perhaps.”

“I see,” you say, humming to yourself on the other end. “Yetyou saw it fit to answer me right away, regardless? It makes me wonder of yourintentions, Jakurai-san.”

“Nothing unsavory, I can promise,” he insists. Not foranswering the phone, at least. “I was quite hoping for a distraction fromthis… issue of mine, actually.”

“Oh? Talking business to get your mind on other things?” youask, sounding as if you’re shifting your phone from one ear to the other. “Or…were you looking for another sort of distraction?”

Jakurai feels himself throb and uses all of hiswillpower not to curse aloud. “… Is that your offer?’’

“I wouldn’t mind. We’re good friends, aren’t we?” youinsist. “I’m a bit pent up myself… it could be mutually beneficial.’’

Mutually beneficial. It sounds so clinical, butJakurai wants to use it as a proper excuse for himself. Maybe it’s not right ofhim, but if he can rationalize he’s also helping you in the process,then he suddenly doesn’t feel so bad about it.

… Is he really so desperate that he’ll reach for anything?

“… What do you propose?”

“Hm… Will just my voice do for you?”

“Yes.”

He hears you giggle on the other end and he moves to leanback against his bed frame. This is shameless, he knows, but you areboth adults. You know him too well by now to offer him something like thiswithout knowing the consequences… of which there will be many in the aftermaththat you’ll have to talk about in extent. But just this once, Jakurai doesn’twant to consider the details–he just wants you to tell him what to do.

“Tell me then, good doctor,” you say and he hears the soundof a chair leaning back. “What were you thinking about before you picked up thephone?”

Jakurai wraps an arm around his stomach, gripping at his ownclothes. “… I was dreaming of that which I do not have.”

“And what would that be?”

He’s afraid to say it, but your gentle voice prods him,anyway. “… You.”

“Oh?” you ask, feigning surprise as you hum to yourself. Youknow exactly what you’re doing, but he’s not inclined to stop you. “That’s verycurious indeed… For you to be so riled up, I must’ve been doing somethinginappropriate, for certain.”

“… It is my own fault, to have imagined it that way.”

“Nobody’s blaming anyone, are they? I’m simply askingbecause I want to help, Jakurai-san…” you say with an even tone. “… Was it myhand? Perhaps my mouth you were thinking of?”

His hand starts to loosen its grip. “… Your mouth.”

You fake a gasp of surprise, but he doesn’t respond to itright away. “Really? You’d be so desperate for me to have a taste ofyou? Jakurai-san, I’m surprised…” You pause. “… Though I suppose being calleda god makes one long for someone to kneel before them.”

“… I’m no better than any man seeking the warmth ofanother,” he says, allowing himself to push his pants past his hips and lettingout a sigh of relief as he rids himself of restraint. “I wish to be nothingmore before you, if I may…”

“Before me? Jakurai-san, you must be joking.”

“You would need only to ask of me…” he insists, shivering ashe wraps a hand around himself, circling his thumb at the tip. “Call it worshipif you wish… I’ll confess at your altar, if only you’d be mine…”

“Dangerous words from a dangerous man, Jakurai-san,” yousay, thought you sound a little breathless. He wonders if he can have that sortof effect on you–if you long in the same way that he does. “Surely…I’ll let your words go to my head, if I’m not careful.”

“I wouldn’t lie to you,”–never to you–“So youneed not to worry… If it’s a god you wish to be, then I would make it so…”Jakurai starts to stroke himself then, sighing as he imagines your hand insteadof his own–smaller, more delicate.

“Do you always make such impossible promises?” you ask. “Itmakes me wonder what it is you expect of me…”

“I expect nothing,” he says, moving his hand in a twistingmotion. “Even if this is all you’ll give me in the end… I won’t be able tostop. I’m too far along to let go…”

He hears you sigh against his ear this time and he wondersif you’ve begun to touch yourself, too. The thought haunts him–the image ofyou messily half-dressed as you seek release with him, unable to experienceanything but your own touch. Do you wish his hands were on you instead, the wayhe does yours? Do you want him to unravel you, take you apart until you laybare beneath him in the same way?

“… You offer too much of yourself, good doctor,” you saywith a breathless laugh. “… Wouldn’t you prefer to be a little selfish? Letme take care of you…?”

He stutters out a quiet moan, speeding up his pace a little.“I dare not to hope for such things, you must realize…”

“Let me indulge you then,” you insist, your breath hitchingas you speak. “Though all you have are my words right now… You can ask mefor whatever you like, Jakurai-san.”

“… You’re all I want,” he admits, too caught up in his ownpleasure to reel himself back in. “These are desires only you could possiblysatisfy… I long only for what you and you alone can give me…”

He hears a moan from the other end and Jakurai slumps backfurther against his bed frame. You’re in your own throes of pleasure, allbecause of him and he can hardly stand that he’s not there to see ithimself. It’s quiet between you two for a moment, save for the sounds you shareover the phone, but you speak up again after a while.

“… Allow me to give you that,” you eventually tell him,short of breath and so, so close–or so he hopes. “If it’s just me youwant, then take it… I won’t stop you.”

“Please–”

“You can finish… just for me, Jakurai-san.”

For you.

His breath hitches when he feels himself spill over hishand, leaning back heavily as it trails down his knuckles. He calls your nameout in whispers, wishing so desperately that you might be here to kiss it outof his mouth. Jakurai doesn’t have such a luxury, so he at least settles forhearing you call out for him in turn as you reach your own high from the otherend. You share heavy breaths over the phone and he’s too content to want tomove from his spot, wanting to let the moment drag on for as long as possible.You’re the one who breaks the silence and he almost regrets it.

“… Was that what you were looking for, Jakurai-san?”

He doesn’t answer right away, gathering his thoughts. “…Did you mean it? When you said you wouldn’t stop me?”

You laugh in response. “As you would do the same, I wouldn’tlie to you.”

His shoulders relax and despite himself, he feels hopeful.“Perhaps my timing is terrible, but… may I see you tomorrow? We should… discusssome things.”

“Of course. I’d hate to leave you with just thoughts of me…I’m not so cruel, you know.”

“Only when you don’t feel like it,” he says, unable to helpthe chuckle that leaves his throat.

“I won’t be cruel to you, is what I mean,” you say,sounding indignant. “But… the hour is late. For now, you should rest… and wecan have our talk tomorrow.”

“… You swear it?”

“On my very soul, Jakurai-san,” you say. “I’ll come for you,worry not.”

He nods to himself, offering a hum of approval before hefinally bids you good night. You’ll come for him, you promised it, anddespite the mess he’s in, his worries are no longer there in the back of hismind.

Jakurai will see you tomorrow–perhaps things will be setback on the right path, then.

The og text is "男臭い", which also means "manly" or "masculine", therefore it could also be translated as "You're so manly...I can smell it." So instead of attacking Riou directly it could be bit more petty.

Here I used “enthralling” for simplicity; the og text is “夢中にさせる”, which literally means something like “make you feel as if you’re in dreams”. So this could translate to something like “Shinjuku is the dream/fantasy of 19-year-olds to aunties.”

The og text is “そう甘くない”, meaning “it’s not easy/innocent/simple”, and to capture all that I used an idiom instead of a more literal translation.

“単細胞/tansaibou” means a single-minded or simple-minded person, but literally it means “single cell”. It’s like how the person has only one brain cell, or that he’s a unicellular organism.

Here on the lyrics sheet from the CD, it says “すくおう(sukuou)” which could be “救おう” or “巣食おう”. The two words in this line could mean either Jakurai would “save” or “nest/take root in” the darkness of a deep well. Depending on your impression of Jakurai...

On the lyrics sheet it says “石”, which reads “ishi” and is the same pronunciation as “医師”, doctor.

They’re referring to themselves; as in they’re the rogues standing by the sides of Jakurai.

In case you don’t know already, Matenrou is also the pronunciation for “skyscraper” in Japanese, so it’s a wordplay that can also mean “we’re the skyscrapers that scrapes the sky.”

Ichiro + MTC + MTR: Colouring

Anon asked: Ichiro, mtc and mtr with a s/o who offers them an adult coloring book to help them calmed down when they're super hecking angry or anxious or just need to calm the heckie down?

Ichiro takes it like: oh I have some of these

Do you really think nerd boy won’t have adult anime colouring books with him

But he takes it anyway and like rants while he’s colouring really nicely like to calm him down

n you’re just listening and watching as he slowly calms down as he colours in whatever you did

And then he smiles at you when he calms down, telling you that it’s extremely therapeutic and he would keep it in mind for next time

Samatoki

He would like pause whatever rant he has or nervousness in his body and he would kind of like take the colouring book and much like Ichiro, continue his rant

Or he would just unleash himself on the colouring book like: YEAH THAT’S RIGHT PINK WORKS THERE OK

And you’re just watching as he aggressively but also colours it well, like actually artistically

He then calms down after a long while and thanks you for giving it to him, and you catch him do it sometimes when he’s bored or when he’s mad and ranting to you he just colours while doing so

Jyuto

Doesn’t want to do it at first, but then you catch him doing it sometimes when he’s working on paperwork

Like he does it as a break or to release any tension

And you smile at that, and one time he just came home, plopped down and started colouring, like it wouldn’t make any sense, the colours I mean, but he’s doing it well enough

And you sometimes sit with him and help him colour in silence

Takes it and is a little confused but then he tries it and he finds it fun, like even as a leisure activity

And like he enjoys colouring quietly because tbh he spends way too much time in nature to not appreciate what’s going on in nature and the colours

Plus its a way for him to release his emotions because he’s a pretty non-expressive guy so like, he probably appreciates you giving him an outlet and all that

Jakurai

He like loves it and he does it in his down time

Like you can catch him just colouring quietly and like sometimes thinking deep thoughs or none at all

And he’s the kind of guy to not get that mad fast, but when he does he would probably fume quietly and then proceed to colour so he can tell it to you in a calmer tone, or talk to you while he’s colouring

And tbh, he recommends it to his other patients too (especially doppo)

Doppo

He takes to it immediately, like when he’s nervous he just clouds

And you see him calming down because you know doppo is prone to panicking a lot and being anxious

So he like starts collecting colouring books and all that and he actually finishes them and invests his time because the entire process is therapeutic

And he even downloads an app like that on his phone so he can do it on the go if he’s nervous

Hifumi

The biggest kid ever and loves it, he like takes to it immediately

And when he’s nervous or ranting to you, he takes it down and sometimes just holds it

Or like if he had a scary day that day, he would just colour because t like blanks out his thoughts and he begins too enjoy it when he sees the whole picture and it’s beautiful and all that

Anon asked: How about the characters being students/teachers in Boku no Hero Academia as a part of the universe? And please, take all the time you need, honey.

Well well well, let’s go

Let’s get one thing straight first, all TDD members (with the exception of Ramuda which I will explain later) are part of the top 10 heroes, Jakurai being the closest to number one followed by Samatoki and Ichiro interchanging every once in a while)

Ichiro

He wouldn’t be a teacher I can tell you that

But he would have his own agency

And honestly, he probably did graduate from UA, but one of the top of his class and is like really known

And he’s in line to being the youngest top pro hero

As for quirk… he’d basically have the hypnosis mic quirk where he would be able to summon speakers, hypnotise people n destroy their minds with music

The downside is though that

Anyway, yeah the Buster Bros Hero Agency is really out there booming you know

Omg the buster bros would be related to Present Mic because he’s Hizashi Yamada but he’s more of a cringe uncle than anything but he did take care of the bros when they were younger… but Ichiro was basically still had the whole Ichiro Yamada arc n all

Im pretty sure he became like an official pro hero after he graduated, but a young hero long before that

(Ok you know the buster bros + hizashi Yamada need a post of their own)

Jiro

Ah well, like in my past post, he would have the same quirk as Ichiro (summoning speakers, hypnosis with his voice, using hypmics as an extra tool to control his quirk etc etc)

Wants to become like his big bro obviously, but kind of on the reckless side

Would be a year above Midorya and the gang (so I guess 2nd Year), but he would be friends probably with Jirou because no doubt both having music quirks makes things interesting

Also a delinquent holy fuck like, troublemaker tm hahah

Anyway, he helps out with present mic and with his brothers sometimes take over the radio show because why not

But he and present mic get into the biggest shouting matches because why not

Ichiro is the strongest out of the three n doesn’t really need a microphone to amplify his voice (but of he does use his mic goodbye)

Jiro prefers to use the mic because he aint that confident yet, but he’s more skilled in like arts and stuff so his costume designs are lit

Saburo

Wants to be like Ichiro obviously and the quirk runs in the family

Except though that Saburo as a first year in the hero course in UA, is gifted also in gadgets

So even if he has friends in the hero course, you can probably find him hanging out with support course people because inventing and tinkering is his jam

And hella smart, with like midorya levels of strategising and Momo level intelligence

Also bumps heads with Bakugo a lot but has a good healthy respect for him

Anyway, he’s the most quiet out of the Yamadas and is most of the reason why Ichiro decided that when he was old enough (like what, 17-18?) he would get an apartment somewhere else away from Mic’s place so that Saburo would be able to be quiet in peace and what not

Likes using the fucking mic because he feels like he has more control and his mic is totally decked out so it’s awesome

Samatoki

I don’t think he would be a teacher like, he would be a pro hero and he has a squad (he refuses to call it agency but it really is

I think he would be more vigilante vibes and tbh his quirk would be some sort of fire quirk, not like an endeavour kinda thing but more of like a fire bending thing where there literally has to be flames (even the smallest spark) so he could make it more n stuff

Which is why he always has a lighter and cigarettes

Literally, do not piss him off while he’s smoking

And of course he and Ichiro are fighting for like a slot on the top hero ranking thing, but mostly they have this petty rivalry

But he and Ichiro are actually friends its just… well maybe not a Kacchan-Deku kinda level but something that used to resemble that and now is a p solid brotherhood

He protects the weak and all that, but he has that of course Samatoki attitude that just happens to go uwu sometimes

Jyuto

Would probably still be in the police force except with like a quirk

Which tbh I think he’s an invisibility guy but not like hagakure, kind of like the invisibility he can control

Because looking n basing this a bit on my past superpowers post, he would be invisible

But the catch has to be like he has to hold his breath so he could sneak around

And he would prefer to work with the police, but his go to call guy is Samatoki (because tbh, with all the trouble Samatoki personally goes searching for, jyuto won’t run out of a job)

Anyway yeah, invisibility is pretty fucking amazing because h can search for info (as long as he doesn’t run out of breath) and sneak where he needs to sneak

So covert operations always work out for him and what nit

Riou

I think he would like teaching, but he’s more of a combat training and strategy more than anything

I personally think he wouldn’t have like a super powerful quirk, like he wouldn’t have the explosion quirk or a sound quirk, he would just be kind of like Captain America where he just has an enhanced overall physique which helped him with like the army and what not

But the thing is, he’s honed his body to near perfection, enhancing the strength and speed that was enhanced with him to begin with

And he uses tools and support items to his advantage, like metal knuckles or weapons or guns or whatever honestly, he knows what to use and how to use it, which is what makes him very, very dangerous

Gets along with Aizawa because he’s very cool under pressure

But lord god, them sparring together is such a thing to watch

Ramuda

Okay he wouldn’t be part of the top 10 because he’s like not that interested in that kind of thing

He would probably be content doing his own thing, having a fashion line that rivals best jeanist

But, he would be really famous, but for some reason never on the top 10 pro heroes thing because I think he would love to take over and be known in a different way

Like yeah he would save people when he encounters it, but not necessarily like go on patrol and whatever, he would have his own agenda

But anyway, yeah his fashion line would be really hawt and whatever

As for his quirk though, he would be a shape shifter like really, I can see Ramuda just kinda designing clothes while being a talking cat and whatever

He’s limited only moving objects, so he can’t do still objects but he can do for example cutting scissors

But they can never be completely motionless that’s the catch

Gentaro

He wouldn’t really be a pro hero or a teacher, im sure he’s content with being a writer

Because okay, his quirk which would be like writing where his imagination never runs out and he can even control the pen so that he just has to say what he wants to be written

Or even think of what wants to be written

Like he could close his eyes and imagine scenarios and the whole story unfold before him and the pen would be able to articulate those thoughts

The downside is that it depends on his vocabulary and knowledge, so gentaro has to study too

If he were to teach though, he would teach literature in any school or just a freelance class in which he would allow his students to imagine and write properly

Dice

Ah his quirk would be luck, except it never works when there’s money involved

And he unfortunately has a gambling addiction

Like he could just persuade people to give him items, but the dumbass really just loves money and this is why he can’t afford nice things

Anyway, his luck quirk makes him extremely safe, so for some reason he’s good at stunts and running and parkour

And why his shit (except his money) never gets stolen

He has gentaro as a friend because the author just so happened to be writing on the bench in the park where dice stays

Well, he would be a hero, but kind of a small time kind of guy where he helps out… but sometimes with incentive because he’s broke af

Literally nothing can hit him (unless it’s money or coins or gold… just anything valuable really) so he’s pretty fine

Jakurai

Telepathy I mean, fuck hypmics and amplifiers, his amplifier is his mind

Im sure he can also mind control and plant images that seem so real

Like yeah, his way of attacking is using words and rap, but literally it’s a silent fucking attack where you think you’re being overwhelmed with sound but it’s really just Jakurai

And he’s powerful enough that he can create hallucinations

And the scary thing about the doctor is that he’s good at close range combat or hand to hand without his quirk

Like he was an assassin or a hitman or whatever, so he knows that you cannot always rely on your quirk

The catch with him is that he has to be completely silent or at least stay out of the hearing range of the people he’s attacking so that he could use it

But once he uses it, he can get as fucking close as possible and stab you from the back (but remember, he don’t need his quirk to kill)

But right now, he’s happily teaching at UA and helping out recovery girl

But seriously, Jakurai in battle is such a wonderful thing to watch and you’re gonna learn so much from him

Oh yeah, and one of the top pro heroes obvs

Doppo

I see him having telekinesis, but like it gets amplified the calmer he gets

Which is hard because he’s always anxious, so when he’s anxious he loses control, but it’s weak

Its stronger when he’s calm

I think he would be a teacher, but like for a regular subject like accounting or whatever

And he would be bullied a lot for his you know being Doppo, but if you mess with him when he’s in a calm angry spell, good luck to you

He can though save lives because that’s what people with powers do, have certain responsibilities to save people who are weaker

Gets along with Jakurai because the doctor sometimes plays music in Doppo’s head to calm him down which is always cute

He actually gets a calming thing made so he can focus his telekinesis, but his anxiety sometimes overrides it

Hifumi

he can make people hallucinate… however the downside to this quirk isa that he has to drink alcohol beforehand

Like he would always have a flask with him and he has to be high tolerance because the amount of alcohol consumed correlates to how strong his hallucinations/illusions would be

Like it wouldn’t matter how well the person he’s attacking can hold their alcohol, it’s all up to him

He would teach with his best friend boyfriend doppo and would constantly smell of alcohol

Aizawa gets from him a lot

Anyway, yeah that’s hifumi’s quirk, but his part time is also running a club because that’s what he loves doing

But yes, still afraid of girls so he wears his fucking suit to UA and… it’s really chaos if you put Present Mic, All Might and Hifumi in the same room

HypMic: Abusive Parents

Anon requested: Hiiii! Can I request BB/MTC/Matenro/FP where their S/O had a very abusive childhood and one day the parents saw her and beat her up on front of them but S/O is just so scared to even move? Sorry if you don't want to do this it's ok! I suddenly feel angsty haha

Oh my god

Ichiro

Okay I think he would get right in between, but he wouldn’t punch, he would glare at them and whip out his hypnosis mic

But then he would threaten them first and ask them to back off or they will regret it

And if they don’t want to back off, he would go for it with the microphone and make them regret it

He would definitely make sure they wouldn’t go near you again and he swears that as your protector

And he asks you if you want to call the cops on them and he does or doesn’t depending as you want

Then he comforts you and helps you out, so he would really talk to you about how he always wanted parents to love their kids because his were taken away from him at an early age

And he hated that some parents took children for granted and all that

And you feel better for him for standing up for you and being supportive

Jiro

He would grab her and pull her away then get in front of the parents

Then he would get so mad and he might even physically go at them

He also brings out his mic and would flat out destroy them

Because he’s angry and a teenager with no parents, so of course he wouldn’t want his perfect idea of parents to disappear from him or from his brother

And then he would take care of you after by taking you somewhere to distract you until you’re ready to talk about it because he won’t do it until you’re ready to talk

Saburo

He would pull you away and just quickly do a hypmic attack and then help you get away

He’s not exactly scared, though the idea of facing parents is such a concept to him

But then his hypmic rap would be about how he’s an orphan and all that and people like them don’t deserve someone as amazing as her and his rap would ruin them and make them fall to their knees

And then he would let her talk it out and he would patiently listen

And if she cries, he’ll just hold her until she stops

Then she takes her to his home and then they play video games until she’s laughing again

And the older Buster bros help patch her up and Jiro promises that saburo would take care of you pretty well

Samatoki

He grew up with an abusive father, so he’s somewhat triggered

But then he snaps out of it and then literally gets in between and beats up both parents if they’re both abusing her

Because he doesn’t want her to still have what he used to have and he can’t fucking take it

And not only does he beat them up, he fucking ruins them with his microphone and he swears if any of them step near her, they’re good as dead

Like he beat them within an inch of their life and dragged them to an alleyway where he’s just fuming in anger and he calls Jyuto to have these fuckers arrested

And Jyuto doesn’t even question it because of the pure rage

He doesn’t leave until the cops come and take them away

And then he just comforts her and takes care of her at home because he knows how vulnerable she can be at that moment

And his anger is still there and she’s kind of scared, but he cools down

And then he apologizes for acting that way, but she understands, given what happened to him and Nemu in the past

Then he tells her about his worst moment with his dad, but the happy memories with his mom

And they kind of just exchange stories and they have the sad game of “who was abused more”

But it’s comfortable and she’s thankful for him and all

He teaches you how to fight back and encourages you to stand your fucking ground if they ever touch you

Jyuto

Flat out arrested

He somehow manages to give them a worse sentence than what is usually given to abusers

And when he sees it in front of him, he pins them to the wall immediately, hits them with a rap and then handcuffs them

Jyuto is pissed as hell, but he figures that giving them the right punishment is good enough and he’s smug about it that he makes it extra tight and roughs them up quite a bit, along with threatening them with more punishment while arresting them

He lets them sit in a cell for a long time and then has them transferred to a really terrible prison

He comforts you and let’s you talk about it

He’s happy you have a sense of satisfaction, but is very much willing to like let them out if you asked him to

This reaches Samatoki and the yakuza boss is in a fucking rage and it takes a long time for him to cool off

Riou

He steps in between them and when they try to hit him, he just disabled them so easily and doesn’t bother hitting them

He immediately pins them to the wall and has a very big monologue about how abusers are the worst type of people

That monologue is said into a mic... so yeah they’re quite dead

And he’s so strong he manages to throw them away in the alleyway and call Jyuto to arrest them

He would then comfort you and have a long walk in the woods in silence or while you talk, depending on your preference

And he would patch you up and make you food so that you would feel better and all that

Ramuda

He would get in between and them and confuse them with his cuteness

Then he would reveal his true self and they’re scared as fuck

He raps and it’s one of his more intense attacks and it leaves them with nosebleeds and a big headache and it’s like their minds exploded

No really, people in the surrounding area gained because Ramuda’s rap was so intense

He was close to killing them, but he stopped because he wouldn’t do that in front of you, and it looked like you didn’t want him to anyway

And then he would take you out for ice cream or something so that you would feel better

You’re so blown away by Ramuda and all that

And Ramuda promises that if they touch you again they’ll be deeeeaaaaddd~

You have no doubt he would follow up on that

Gentaro

Would probably pull you away and get in between

He wouldn’t pull his hypmic or go physical

He would then talk the way he usually does, giving half truths that torment them

In other words, he threatens them so well that he doesn’t need to attack them and they’re fleeing for their lives

He tells her that only ten percent were lies and he will protect you with all of him

And then he would help you patch up your wounds and let you find some peace and quiet because he’s Gentaro that way

And he would then also wax poetic about how great you are and you deserve parents who are willing to take care of you and love you

He would tell you how amazing you are and the fact remains that you’re gorgeous and all

Dice

He would get in between and just push them hard so that they fall on their asses

Then he either whips out his mic or not, depending how mad he is

He’s basically snarling at them and threatening them to never touch you

Because he swears he would beat them if they touch you again and he threatens them well

And then when they’re away, he patches you up and then talks about his own childhood

And then he makes you laugh by being his regular dumbass self

You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to and he understands that, but he’s always ready to listen

So if you wanna laugh, go laugh, and if you don’t want to, then he’ll hold you

Jakurai

Please don’t do this in front of him you might die

No really, the glare that they see from his is fucking legendary as he tells them to stop and gets in between

They know who ill-DOC is and that’s your boyfriend

And they’re scared as fuck when he brings out his mic and doesn’t do anything beyond threatening them and telling them to get the hell out of Shinjuku because he will know if they do come anywhere near, and he’ll be there to intercept

If they cooperate, great, if they don’t, the next thing they know is that they have a switchblade presses to their veins and jakurai tells them medically just how slow they’ll die from choking on their own blood

And then they run away

Then after that, he softens and patches you up because you deserve to be cared for

Then he lets you talk about it and doesn’t force you to move until you’re ready to move or comfortable with doing anything

And then he promises he’ll protect you if you need it, but encourages you to learn a few self defense moves from him

Doppo

He’s the type to grab you and pull you away from them

Then he would apologise and all that for whatever reason because he’s intimidated

And like he would actually step back because he’s anxious and all that and isn’t really sure on what to do because he’s nervous and all that

And then they insult him and that’s fine, but they get to you and have a select words he hates

Then he would get the courage to stand up and yell at them and then bring out his mic

And he would rap about your amazingness and beauty and how that if they dare come near you again, matenrou will be on their asses

And they’re running away after being beat

Actually no they’re passed out and Doppo calls the cops on them

He then apologizes for being a wimp but then promises to do better if it happens again

He then takes you out to make you feel better and would just do his best to make you happy

Hifumi

He grabs you and pulls you away, he takes some hits to his body and then like faces them with his mic

Calm? Yeah he’s actually pretty calm honestly

Though he’s probably is fuming in anger inside

He would hold his daughter as she’s crying but then he would use and abuse his connections

Like he wouldn’t do anything drastic

He’d probably take out his rage on something else, not the guy

But he would so go after him, like personally go to his place of residence and threaten him

Or somehow corner him and blast him with the hypnosis mic then pin him against the wall and threaten him

That rap is going to fucking nearly melt those brains out, but he would never let him forget

Jiro

Flat out makes a very, very threatening street art that so happens to be near his house

At first he’d be honoured right? But then… well it’s a very very realistic depiction and drawing of his death

Like as the person who was upset with Ichiro for abandoning him and Saburo, he would be very, very upset with that boyfriend

Though he wouldn’t make an actual attempt on the life though… well he’s matured enough to not like actually lash out

But then that street art would be very, very, very threatening with the undertones of death

Oh and, it wouldn’t be one art only, it would be a lot, to serve as reminders

Saburo

Oh god he’s so smart like, oh god whoever did that to is as good as dead

He’s not yonder level, but he, probably at this point, is successful in his own field and has a ton of connections

Like he could use Samatoki, or his own brothers for that matter because his daughter is basically their daughter

And it would really become a family affair so he would really have a plan that would involve more than one person attacking the dumbass

Like one time its gonna be Ichiro, then when the guy tries to run its Jiro, then last blow would be Saburo

Samatoki

Oh god, he would not take cheating kindly

But then he wouldn’t go sprack on his daughter like, he’d probably just click his tongue and tell her to be more careful but then also hold and comfort her if she’s crying

No one deserves to be treated like they’re second rate

I mean, he wouldn’t go out and kill him you know bc not allowed by everyone else (Jyuto, his s/o… the law)

But on the street and he sees him, he makes a fucking threat on his life

Or you know, just wreaks his house

Or beats him up… personally because he has all this pent up rage that he needs to let loose and additional Hypmic after the beating

Or has Jyuto have him arrested after Samatoki frames him for a crime, wreaks his house, beats him up and makes sure he’ll live in fear for the rest of his life

You hurt one MTC daughter, you have the whole MTC on you

Jyuto

Flat out finds blackmail of him and publishes it through an anonymous name because he has connections

Like not just crime blackmail, but actual incriminating blackmail of like humiliating pictures, stories

And the cheating story doesn’t make the front page with his daughter’s name on it, but the other girl’s name on it, also humiliating her

The victim is unknown and all and the story circulates with help with his connections and blackmail of his own

He also arrests him for crimes he didn’t commit and lets him fester there with the worst fucking inmates ever

And when he gets out, MTC will be on his heels

Samatoki would be out for killing, well sort of

Jyuto would make the law processes as hard as possible

Riou would just be a silent presence with his training

Riou

He wouldn’t react that bad, but then he would also be sent into the rage and has to go to the gym to cool off or punch some trees

Riou like setting traps right? Well, Riou sets traps. Riou fucking like finds out his schedule and has Jyuto make fake contracts that the guy would sign, or fake deliveries of drugs

And the guy would end up getting arrested and Riou would be there to beat him up while in the jail cell

Or tbh, kidnap him and place him in the middle of the woods where he would have to fucking survive on his own

No help will be given where no one can can hear him scream

Ramuda

You just fucked with the wrong division

But Ramuda would do it all on his own, and everyone is honestly fooled by his facade

So when is daughter comes up to him crying, saying the entire cheating thing, Ramuda just consoles her and cheers her up by going out and having a meal and all, but then he would have a plan in mind

He could bring the other two, but he wants the satisfaction of him doing it by himself, and he has a ton of connections and he knows how to play

So he would work on the blackmail, the small inconveniences, and also the fucking threats mailed to him, and his bank account emptying, the loss of friends, the eviction notices, the fake news and rumours spreading about him generally just ruining his life while he just watches from above and sees his daughter party about her ex having a miserable life

Oh and wardrobe, completely ruined

Gentaro

he will comfort his daughter and like tell her truths and reassure her of all the things and on the spot write a funny poem

An author will write

So he will write and publish so much shit, and most of his raps will be dedicated to hating on him

And he will publish stories that are lies, but written so well that everyone believes them, like think Reynolds Pamphlet except fake

So there’s an entire controversy about him and he keeps adding fuel to the fire by asking Ramuda to help him get the message across

And one day he will fucking tear him down with the worst and most painful rap of all that would leave him nearly insane and do you really want to cross him

Dice

Please don’t mess with Dice either

He will flat out, with no restraints, go after the guy the moment the daughter tells him

He will drag said guy back to the house and force him to apologise to her, but of course before that he would really beat him up within an inch of his life

And he’s honestly going to use hypnosis mic and really kill his mind and beat him so hard

All he wants is a better life for his daughter and not to be tossed aside like scrap

So yeah he’s furious as hell with no one to restrain him, and I really think he’s so strong that the punches fuelled with adrenaline are gonna hurt to the different level

Jakurai

Ill-doc

No really, do you want to mess with the assassin?

I mean, to his daughter, the usual comforting and the chill and the hugging

But that night, good lord someone should really send help to that guy

Jakurai loves process, that’s what he shares with Ramuda, so he does the thing where threats are placed everywhere and it drives him crazy

Think like batman but, with a real endgame kind of goal

and at the end, the guy will find himself cornered with Jakurai kind of just behind him like a shadow

Ill-DOC comes back with the kind of bone breaking that’s permanent, and it keeps him quiet because it leaves the promise for more

Or worse, injections that don’t kill, but flow like acid and burn for a long long time

Doppo

Calls up Jakurai

Or he deals with it himself, though he wouldn’t be so confrontational about it and would be a mess first

But when the guy starts to be condescending, he stops apologising

Because no one, condescends his daughter, he can take anything hurled at him, but once you start on ruining his daughter, you’re in a for a new treat

The things he’s about to do, he won’t apologise for any of it

The rap he blurts out is the most unapologetic thing that can happen, like really, the most unapologetic

Like Doppo with no barriers and he’s so brutal without worrying about being offensive or apologising

Hifumi

that boy is so dead

Hifumi isn’t the brute force kind of guy, but in a suit, he can easily persuade the guy to go drink with him in a bar

And Hifumi can charm him into another drink and another drink and another drink until he is ruined drunk

Completely ruined drunk that he does so many stupid things and Hifumi lets him

He even brings him to the host club to flirt and play with the girls, all the while Hifumi takes pictures with the guy’s fucking phone, posts them and lets everyone see them

Okay just saying, I don’t know as much as you do so we’re keeping it to Kanto/Jyoto/Sinnoh/Hoenn yay but idk abt who goes where so anyway!

Ichiro

Fire type! He loves the fire type Pokémon

And he would definitely choose Charmander as his starter because he’s Ichiro like that

And later on in life he’s like Red (if you know him) or like a very strong trainer

Because he had his Delinquent days (and he highkey detached himself from his brothers so he could go around and win battles and get money for them you know kinda like TDD) so he had his edgy fire squad

And like he explored everywhere, kind of being a general badass and earning his reputation by beating the gyms and all that

but then he matured over the course of his journey (and he learned a ton of new shit) and went back to go around with his brothers and willingly goes through the journey with them so he can help them out

Plus he missed them so he needs to make up for it and they forgive him later on yay

But yes, loves fire type and is very very skilled when it comes to training, battling, motivating, LOVING, and taking care of Pokemon

And okay like I rly see him being a mentor for his brothers and just one day showing off his moves with his fucking charizard and letting saburo uwu ride on it AHHHH

I don’t think he would go for gym leader because he’s more of an adventure boy

Jiro

He tries to live up to his brother and stuff even if he’s kinda resentful he left for a bit, but he’s over it you know

Ichiro would give him the starter pokemon

Like tbh I think Ichiro would give him a Piplup (I’m basic I’m sorry) and like really give him tons of advice

And yes he does challenge saburo on a near daily basis

And ichiro allows this because training, though Jiro won’t get it through his head that a full out offensive isn’t the way to go, though Ichiro figures that he’ll get over it

Anyway, moving on, that’s basically Jiro’s arc and like the buster bros would become like a unit and it would be so cool to see them battle around

And he’s also an adventure boy and really hates it when Saburo delays for some knowledge pursuit

Like he would bring out his also eager Pokemon to drag saburo away like even the piplup gets unto it and tries to drag saburo away from the pursuit of knowledge

Saburo

Quite literally a Pokemon nerd

No really he would probably be the first of the bros to complete his Pokédex like he would finish it

And his goal isn’t like to BATTLE BATTLE BATTLE or WAR WAR WAR it’s literally to gotta catch them all because he’s in the pursuit of knowledge that way

I rly see him having like an Eevee (if any of you play let’s go Eevee) or just not a typical starter Pokemon you know

Ichiro would probably end up giving him an eevee anyway because he knows an Eevee would appeal to like Saburo because it’s an extraordinary type of pokemon

He would love his eevee to the death and would dress it up in all these cute outfits

And yeah he’s a tough guy to battle, but you’ll more likely find him just enjoying the actual pokemon instead of battling

And he’s also p good at strategising when it comes to pokemon and he helps out his brothers

Is very happy with the journey and all that

Samatoki

Definitely a gym leader, like really because reasons I rly see him being one

And oh my god I see him with a fucking Lucario like!!!!!

And he would love his pokemon to the death and all

And yeah he would be in charge of a fighting type of Pokemon or like that would be his specialty because he’s Samatoki sama aka mr ha ko on the microphone

And yeah he would probably have a side job as a yakuza, but like gym is life and he’s really aggressive but also very very smart when it comes to his attacks

Like even if he’s up against a higher level or like a psychic type, he will come out on top and beat the opposition

Anyway, his origin story is like he just wants to show everyone how strong he is and how that no matter how many times you get beat down, you have to keep going back up

And when he roams around or like helps people train in his own gym, he has a strict way of teaching, but also somewhat understanding and his tips really do help those who visit his gym

Very much open to receiving challenges because he needs to fight oh yeah

He also explored a lot of places and has a shit ton of influence, but the gym and his city is really his home

Team rocket aint fucking with him

Jyuto

Electric type! Is his type!

And yeah srsly just imagine him in that blue Pokemon police uniform hmmm

Also glasses are tilted and touched a lot because that’s the Pokemon trope with the eyeglass glare and everything

Though he’s a kind of corrupt cop, but doesn’t associate with team rocket because you know, exploitation of Pokemon

Though he spies a lot so he has a lot of connections and he’s like the in10se police spy that would be able to find his way in the underground

Like a spy with a position in team rocket oh yeah

And how he meets Samatoki is that Samatoki got into a fight with a team rocket and Jyuto had to subtly subdue said team rocket member

Anyway, yes electric type Pokemon and I really see him with a Luxray because he be cool like that

But seeing him with a shinx you can RIP my soul and send me to heaven because that shit is adorable

Riou

He’s probably also a gym leader

Basically MTC consists of two gym leaders and a cop

Literally Lt. Surge and except he would most likely love grass type pokemon or bug type, or anything you can find in the woods because survival life

Because he’s a woods kind of boy and he spends most of his time with wild pokemon and befriending them before catching them

DO YOU SEE HIM WITH A FUCKING BULBASAUR???? Like???? I really do and it would be so fucking cute to see him with all the little oddish and the Butterfree and the Beautifly and the weedles

This man can have my soul because I can really see him with his flower Pokemon like Venusaur and Meganium and a Vileplume and a Tropius (I know banana but still)

He would love him the grass Pokemon and the bug type

Anyway, yeah he’s all about that survival so his gym is quite the labyrinth, complete with traps

And sometimes he just goes out to roam and spend time with the Pokemon while shirtless :>>>

Ramuda

“Anything cute!” Like he would have a cue Pokemon out and walking with him

But when he brings out his arsenal it’s like really strong Pokemon, though he would probably favor fairy type Pokemon, though there would be a mix of dark type also

I really see him with a Gengar and causing little mischiefs because why not

He also loves fashion so he would really be the champion of those beauty pageants with all his deceptively cute Pokemon like wigglytuff and everyone thinks he’s just superficial and can’t battle for shit

But then face him off and it’s just a complete disaster and you’re going to be wrecked

Like he knows how to deceive and use his Pokemon’s weaknesses to their advantages and he knows the tricks of the trade, all while looking great

i don’t think he would be in the elite four, he would just be one of those freakishly strong trainers that would just pop in every once in a while

Mostly occupies his time with designing, but yeah, pretty good in battle as well

Gentaro

Ghost type!!!! Like he would love the ghost type pokemon or the psychic type because he’s mysterious that way

Or like psychic

Because I see him with an Alakazam and in general probably live in a quiet house with all of his Pokemon

And he would have a soft spot for his mimikyu because he’s the type

Probably would stay in Lavender town because he’s lavender jk no it’s because he’s the type to chill out in the outskirts and have these mystic Pokemon

Still pretty focused on his writing and some training philosophy and what not

And he would be really just calm and cool, but very defensive of his Pokemon because he will protect them with his life

But he houses this garbage rat (dice) who is completely hopeless but yeah Pokemon

And he would be p respectful of Pokemon and be pretty spiritual about it

But in battle he’s pretty dangerous because he’s an author and knows what he’s doing

Dice

I see him having a Persian or a Meowth because he’s nyaaa that way

But in general he would favor normal type Pokemon because there quite intriguing

Also I rly see him chilling around with a rattata because he’s such a garbage rat himself

And he probably doesn’t have a lot of Pokemon because he’s broke and can’t afford poke balls

But very much like Riou, he makes friends with the stray Pokemon or those neglected by their owners

Can do well in battle, but is unfortunately addicted to the gaming places even if his Pokemon try to drag him away from it

It doesn’t help that meowth is dragging him inside and everyone is just trying to stop him

Though dice would have a very unorthodox fighting style and would probably nickname all his Pokemon because he’s dice that way

Jakurai

I see this fucker as an elite four member so they become elite five

And like okay basically!!! You know how you have to fight all the elite four, he would be like the surprise level at the end and he’s very much god tier, like he would specialise in psychic/dragon/dark/flying type, you know that kind of mystic vibe

And he’s just on a level of his own!!! So like he’s very cool and that, and he’s kind as well, like he doesn’t spend most of his time in his seat of power or whatever and he goes around helping people and being a doctor because he likes helping people and Pokemon

But srsly, most people are in such awe of him and he’s just slaying by walking around with a Salamence or a Dragonair or a Dragonite or a fucking Charizard but rly anyway its just me

Or also like an Absol that would be awesome too

Anyway, yeah he really looks so cool, but if you get to meet him, he’s very down to earth and will sit down with you if you want some advice

Doppo

Dark Pokemon like, probably or ghost type of pokemon

I see him with a houndoom! Or like something like that

And he’s pretty anxious and unsure of battling

But if his Pokemon are threatened you have unlocked the beast and he will go on a rampage

Mostly a stressed worker that needs some time to sleep

Usually sleeps with his snorlax or on his slowbro

Like I rly see him just collapsing with a snorlax and sleeping for the entries day

But he would also run and his ghastly would chase after him and his houndoom would prevent him from falling on the tracks and impaling himself

He also shares a room with Hifumi, with his fairy type Pokemon

Srsly, this household has the polar opposites getting along together like the houndoom would take care of the little Pokemon and its pretty wholesome

Probably not that invested in collecting Pokemon and he’s happy with the ones he has

Hifumi

“Anything cute!” No legit he would really have beautiful and cute pokemon like rly pretty but also freakishly strong Pokemon

His clefairy is a thing of legend

And he’s into all that beauty pageant stuff too

And in his club he has his cute electric type Pokemon do their thing along with fairy sparkles and what not

Hifumi with a minun and plusle that’s all that’s all you need to know

Anyway, he loves dressing up his Pokemon, but in host mode, have fun trying to best him in battle because he is really confident in his Pokemon and all that

He might wipe your ass on the floor, unless you’re a girl of course and he’s out of host mode

But in general, all he wants to do is cuddle and play with his Pokemon along with sleeping on the snorlax that doppo sleeps on after a long day at work

Animage 483: Interview w/ Matenrou part 2

This is part 2 of the Matenrou interview of Animage 483, for part 1 please read here. It’s about Matenrou and Jakurai’s VA Hayami Show san.

Continuation of the Story by Kannonzaka Doppo’s VA Ito Kento

Bad at Household Chores But an Able Working Corporate Slave

—— As this is Matenrou’s second CD release, what is your impression of Kannonzaka Doppo?

Ito: When Doppo raps, he steadily becomes more and more dangerous (laughs). Although he wasn’t able to speak his mind when he first started, he might get better at expressing himself little by little. As usual, he’s menial, but I think he is able change that into a strength. For that to happen, it may be because his teammates Jinguji Jakurai and Izanami Hifumi’s presence have become larger.

—— What do you pay attention to when you are acting as Doppo?

Ito: It was a challenge to record with that much negative emotion infused. When I’m in Tokyo, it’s easy to trace Doppo’s actions, like remembering being shaken in a crowded train…. He even wears a suit so it’s even harder. I’m glad my job doesn’t require wearing a suit (laughs).

—— Doppo is perhaps the sole corporate slave character, but how do you feel about this?

Ito: I wonder how much of a corporate slave he is. I don’t think being a salesperson is the most suitable job for Doppo, I wonder if he’s okay. First, Doppo should have a car because it would be tough for Doppo to go around for business by train. Having a car would make it easier. Perhaps Hifumi would buy him a car since he has more money (laughs). I don’t know if he has enough income for a car…

—— A line in Hifumi’s part of “-Division Battle Anthem-” is “12,346,600 Monthly,” so we can estimate his monthly sales to be over 10,000,000 [yen]. If the club shares 50% of the sales with him, then that is a quite an income.

Ito: If it’s not a luxury car, it’s likely that he’d get one for Doppo…?! But if he does that, Doppo’s self worth might fade away (laughs).

——Hifumi possibly has expensive taste, what does Doppo think about him?

Ito: There are times when he’s unpleasant yet he is an indispensable existence. Speaking of it, in the BATTLE CD’s drama part, we learn that they live together. I thought, “you guys get along too well,” but there are lots of guys that live together. Even around me, I know some people that have roommates. It’s cheaper than paying rent alone, and it’s just easier overall (laughs). The hours they go to work are literally day and night so there is no need for meddling more than necessary. I think they’ve achieved a nice shared livelihood.

—— What do you think Doppo feels about Hifumi’s best-host mode when he’s wearing his suit and his gynophobia side?

Ito: They’ve known each other since forever; Doppo should know why Hifumi has gynophobia. Host, gynophobe, and his usual mode are the three sides Hifumi has, so Doppo shouldn’t be confused or uncomfortable.

—— There is a scene where Hifumi makes Doppo breakfast, to which Doppo replies with, “Today’s breakfast is grilled salmon, huh?” Did you get the impression that Hifumi often cooks for them?

Ito: On the outside, it looks like Doppo is the one taking care of Hifumi, but it’s actually Hifumi that takes care of Doppo. Like how Hifumi mends Doppo’s suits when they get torn. I’m certain that Doppo is a guy bad at all household chores and decision making, but when he’s out, Doppo is competent. He can contemplate things over and over, and then turn it into action. In the drama part of the first CD, “Matenrou -Clinical Phonetics-,” they head to the apartment of a customer of the host club Hifumi works at. There, Doppo predicted that she would jump and prepared a mat, did he not? How he was able to prepare that in a short time is a bit comedic though (laughs); that was some really good work.

The “Unexpected” Light Shining into the Repetitive Every Day

—— What impression do you have about Jakurai?

Ito: For Doppo, Jakurai is the person he trusts the most besides Hifumi. He is who Doppo consults with, but I also think he’s a mentor. The two of them, Hifumi and Jakurai, help lift Doppo up as they walk together. In the drama part this time, you can feel the depth of Jakurai’s connection to Amemura Ramuda. You really can’t tell if there’s something there, though I think that the incident that caused this connection surely surpasses any imagination. But even though Doppo is curious, he won’t actively push to know. If Jakurai would someday tell him, I think he would be overjoyed.

—— Is Doppo undergoing Jakurai’s counseling right now?

Ito: I believe he is. Since the setting of the BATTLE CD went from Shinjuku Division to Chuuoku, I can’t say if there has been a change in their regular relationship, though I still think it’s needed for Doppo.

—— In the 1st CD, before becoming a member of Matenrou, Doppo performs a rap in front of Jakurai. In his lyrics is the line “Society is cold but somehow it’s warmer now,” what does it mean?

Ito: I actually haven’t heard from Kimura Subaru-san what his thoughts were when he wrote the lyrics. Maybe holding the Hypnosis Mic is like a portal to something unlike what Doppo is used to. And that might be what he’s been looking for in his repetitive daily life. I wouldn’t say that it’s hope, but it’s a ray of light that shines through and reached him; the warmth [he mentioned in the lyrics] probably refers to that. He must have been very happy when he first received the mic, after everything that happened. It’s the same for Hifumi I think. Doppo and Hifumi would be first and second place if the characters held an awkwardness competition.

—— In the BATTLE CD were interactions with each of the other divisions. There is a scene where he drinks Busujima Mason Riou’s special-made drink, although it had a taste that made Aohitsugi Samatoki, Iruma Juto, and Hifumi faint, only Doppo was able to drink it without trouble.

Ito: It’s only my idea of what happened, but I think Doppo loves nutrition drinks. Health recovery maybe? (laughs) Taste may come second for a healthy body. Drinking without prejudice and the likes of not being afraid to try things is one of Doppo’s nice points.

—— In the 2nd drama part “Just A Friend,” Hifumi went out at night in Chuuoku and was then chased by women.

Ito: It was nice to know what Doppo would do when confronting women. Ah, of course he’d run. He even screams (laughs).

—— He didn’t seem happy at all, did he?

Ito: Doppo isn’t the type to go out in public, I guess he never thought he would be like an idol.

—— There, they had a chance encounter with Yumeno Gentaro and Arisugawa Dice and had a quarrel.

Ito: Subaru also wrote the lyrics for that part. Doppo’s “I’m sorry” and similar words are a shield making a nice steady style. The recording this time was also fun, I got carried along by Subaru’s enthusiasm in the direction room. We also learned how the two fight in the absence of Jakurai. But it wasn’t the real fight, which is why they didn’t use their full power. Also, Doppo worried about what others think of him, as he understood that this is not the place to fight. These two are still hiding their claws. I wonder if I was able to incorporate that in my acting.

—— Do you have any members you are interested in after this recording?

Ito: I’m a member of Matenrou, but I like Dice. His gambler way of life is great; it’s something I very much don’t think I can do (laughs). Actually, Fling Posse is a burning presence in me, their songs and relationships are also nice. They don’t have a common goal, and with the exception of Ramuda, a novelist and gambler aren’t very Shibuya-Division-like jobs. However, surely for these three, there has to be a reason why it has to be Shibuya.

Lurking in the Dirty City, the Tale of Matenrou continues

—— “BATTLE BATTLE BATTLE” begins with Doppo’s attack.

Ito: It was surprising that I was first. Because it’s the firing shot, the lyrics were a simple attack on Shibuya. There’s a strong feeling of camaraderie in this song. For example, Dice attacked Doppo and Hifumi follows up by returning his lyrics. I thought it was as if the three were really fighting. Also, the three’s final lyrics really stood out. They said, “No matter how hard your past was” --- what was their past like? Why did they become the men of Shinjuku? I hope you have fun imagining it.

—— Doppo’s scream of “Matenrou!” is quite impressionable.

Ito: That was originally not in the demo, but was decided during the recording. It really fires up the atmosphere for a rap battle, no? During the discussion with everyone, we talked about adding more Dopponess into the song, and that’s how it happened. However, Shibuya’s “Posse Posse” is chanted by the whole Fling Posse, whereas I’m doing this alone (laughs).

—— What do you think about the team song “Shinjuku Style ~Don’t Make Me Laugh~”?

Ito: Firstly, the demo which was given to us by Rappagariya was amazing. Usually demos are just the melodies without any effects or arrangements, but his demo was so cool and with lots of effects. It was totally ready to be put into a CD as is. Thanks to that, it was easy to picture the final product. But this song is so difficult. When I was practicing at home it almost made me cry.

—— Have you watched the trailer for this song?

Ito: The video shows the streets of Shinjuku from the point of view of the characters. I am glad that there are also cuts where Doppo is getting on subways and walking up stairs. In those cuts, the camera was facing downwards which was so just like Doppo. Shinjuku, especially Kabukicho, is filled with billboards of portraits and texts. There are even taglines like “profession: hottie.” It’s an interesting place. This song seems scarier than Fling Posse’s team song, maybe Shinjuku is seen as a scary place. When I listen to the song, a picture of Matenrou swaggering together through downtown comes to my mind. However, this might make the other divisions more aggressive against us. Don’t get me wrong, Shinjuku is not scary at all… is what I want to tell them (laughs).

—— Doppo’s solo song, “Tigridia,” from the first CD sure has a different impression from the BATTLE CD.

Ito: I think the Doppo in this song is the everyday Doppo. While he says that he’s walking alone, it’s not actually like that. In terms of time, it could be his song from before he became a member of Matenrou, or shortly after he joined. I myself really like this song. Since I sang this song, it’s a bit embarrassing to recommend it to people, but I recommend it (laughs). To start with the song’s track, it’s very cool, so even just the instrumental version is superb.

—— Is there something you would like to do with “Hypnosis Mic” in the future?

Ito: What I had been wanting to do until now is a live show and it’s coming soon. It’s crazy how we made it all the way to hosting a concert! However, now I am a bit anxious that I won’t be able to sing properly. It’s a great challenge and afterwards, I want to try to hold a live show in Shinjuku. It’d be nice if the venue is related to the characters, but we might be yelled at if we do it in hospitals and offices (laughs). Host clubs might be the most likely to let us do so. And maybe a surprise pop-up concert. I think a flash-mob kind of performance would work for this project. How about it? I want to do it.

—— This time is the reveal of the outcome, what will happen?

Ito: From the songs, I get the image that Fling Posse is pop and Matenrou is shady. Which side will be eliminated is determined by the audiences. I am worried that the shadiness of Matenrou might scare away some people. However, the “women and men of Shinjuku”* who support Matenrou probably already know the charm and the underlying enchantment of shadiness. How Matenrou’s story will develop from this point on, I myself want to know as well. Therefore, please kindly vote for us.

—What type of team is MAD TRIGGER CREW? Also, please tell us what type of people you think that Juto and Riou are.

After listening to their solo songs, I thought, “Meme characters?”, but the division song gave a sense of bitter adults, so the team is still a bit of a mystery. However, even though they don’t say it outloud, I believe that they do respect each other. It’s a different type of good relationship than the one in “Buster Bros!!!”. Juto is the most like the tactician, the person of contact, and the worldliest (laughs). Riou is the most airheaded, not only in the team, but in “Hypnosis Mic”. I think that he also has the most physical strength (laughs).

—How did you capture the character of Aohitsugi Samatoki?

I think that due to the environment he grew up and works in, he became to be a very straightforward and passionate guy. While I act him out, I keep in mind not to overuse his “rage side” so that he’s not just some random thug.

—Please tell us what you were particular about during your, highlights of each song, your favorite lyrics, etc.

<G anthem of Y-CITY> Sampling of “New・Battles Without Honor or Humanity”’s theme song and it’s motif was requested (1). The hard backbone expressed through the rap is impressive. I like the lyrics around the “Restlessly after the other” part.

I enjoyed ad-libbing the prelude. Due to the unexpectedly calm tune, I was worried about how to deliver Samatoki’s character through it. My favorite lyric is, “The path home dirtied by blood.”

Anyways, it’s a heated battle! The provocative dialogue in the background of the song makes it very enjoyable. It usually seemed that Samatoki was the one who got angry against the calm Ichiro, however I got the impression that it’s actually the opposite in this song. It was as if Samatoki was acting like a proper senior.

—During the showdown, what impression do you have on Ikebukuro Division, Buster Bros!!!? Also, what do you feel about the strength of Buster Bros!!!

Out of all the divisions, they are the ones with the most overwhelming skill. Ichiro’s younger brothers have complete faith in their leader. Their tight bond makes their teamwork perfect. All in all they’re a threat. I think that Yokohama can only go up against characters with strong personalities.

—Please tell us your impressions on Shibuya Division and Shinjuku Division, along with anyone you are interested in.

Music-wise, I’m interested in Dice and Hifumi. Nozuyama-san, who voices Dice, has good flow that resembles SEAMO-san. Hifumi’s charm is that he would definitely raise excitement during a live. I feel like it's even a bit unfair (laughs). If I were to choose from the drama part, it would be have to be Jakurai and Ramuda. I’m also interested in the backstory between Ichiro and Samatoki.

—Please give a message to all the fans!

No matter who wins, it won’t be odd. No matter who wins, I’d still be happy. That’s because “Hypnosis Mic” has raised so much excitement. We look forward to your continued support, put your hands up!

—How did you capture the character of Busujima Mason Riou?

While he is a person of common sense, half of him is still attached to the concept of “military”, leading him to do dangerous things. He doesn’t have an aggressive personality, however when he judges it is necessary, he will not hesitate to move. Is he a character with such an ambivalent mentality? I often ask this to myself. I particularly keep in mind two things. When treating others to homemade food, I speak with a bit more happiness in his usually unemotional tone. The other one is to express how M.T.C is important to him as he speaks.

—What type of team do you feel MAD TRIGGER CREW is?

With occupations like yakuza, police, and former soldier? In addition, a wild and carnivorous leader, a struggling mother with secret intentions, and a survivor with common sense that connects all problems to an empty stomach. M.T.C is a terrible mess. However! It is a united terrible mess! It’s obviously not as good compared to other divisions. However! There is a family-like feeling! It’s a different sense of unity than Ikebukuro! I believe that this gap is M.T.C’s greatest appeal.

—Please tell us your favorite lyric from each song, along with any struggles you had during recording.

<What’s My Name?>

“Try saying my name.” “The name of the person who defeated you.” There’s a lot of ways to interpret the song. It’s as if he’s taunting his enemies alone.

I want to drive while listening to this, I can’t get enough of the vicious lyrics that conveys an opposite feeling to the melody line. I tried to sound earthly with the bass tones.

The “Bye bye!” followed by “Bye bye!”! And then the last lyrics were impactful, with the two’s hearty laughs over it. It was the best.

—During the showdown, what impression are you waiting for in Ikebukuro Division?

Ichiro has a strong sense of conviction. Jiro is a meathead high schooler blindly respects his older brother, (in a good way). While respecting the oldest brother, Saburo gives off the feeling of a middle schooler in the middle of puberty (in a good way). The best way to defeat them is by separating them. Buster Bros!!!’s “Family Bonding” and “Age” are things that other divisions has no match for. They are all teens, and the younger ones are still in high school and middle school, they can still improve and grow. So there’re a lot of uncertainties, I feel that that’ it could be both their strengths and weaknesses.

—Please tell us your impressions on Shibuya Division and Shinjuku Division, along with anyone you are interested in.

Shibuya Division is the embodiment of the word emo. I don’t understand why this odd group assembled. Such mystery is the charm of this team. I’m particularly interested in Yumeno Gentaro and his song. Well, everything is a lie though. Shinjuku Division is a religion, in a good way. It is the cuteness of the charismatic Jakurai san leading the childhood friend duo. I like Kannonzaka Doppo’s song. I also like his survival ability in the drama part.

—Please give a message to all the fans!

Let’s settle the territory battle between ‘Bukuro and ‘Hama first. I believe everyone is voting with different thoughts. Such as “I like this division”, “I like ‘Bukuro’s songs”, “I’m from Yokohama so” or “I’m a fan of--!” It’s okay to have different reasons. I’ll be happy if you jumped into the world of “Hypnosis Mic” with your own way of enjoying it. Shibuya vs. Shinjuku has started! There are also going to be live shows!
