ok Worm Bigotry Breakdown in more detail for @silverflyingpikachu
tl;dr: author is Cishet White Guy From Canada In 2011. he ostensibly thinks he is progressive. this does not change his proclivity for tossing his Cishet White Guy From Canada Biases into the books and then saying even more bigoted things in defense of those writing decisions on forums. wildbow is just some cunt on the forums with bad opinions on wildbow's writing. the book is 1.7 million words long but i believe in my ability 2 categorize this shit with decent accuracy. everyone who has ever said worm's CWs can't be categorized, including wildbow himself, is a lying ass bitch. this will include some vague spoilers, because i can't really go in-depth without a few examples, but i'll stay away from anything too plot-critical.
racism:
- worm is fundamentally a book abt systems of power and the ways in which they suck. some of the critiques worm issues--e.g, its depiction of how school systems enable bullying, inspired by wildbow's own experiences w/ the school systems as a deaf kid--are viscerally accurate and incredibly compelling. but wildbow fundamentally doesn't understand how certain systems of oppression work--e.g policing--and subsequently, his attempts at depicting them occasionally fall flat onto their face and land in racist territory. this gets particularly nasty when combined w/ the White Guy Author propensity for racist stereotypes--for example, his chosen face of police brutality is a black girl portrayed as predatory & animalistic.
- who is also one of the only black people in the book overall, alongside--for example--an addict portrayed as having less interiority & being less deserving of empathy than A Literal Fucking Nazi. also, the main characters have to team up with the nazis "for the greater good" (defeating the mean asian villains) at one point. it is a mercy to the readers when this part of the story ends.
- there are two black characters in the main cast. for the first, wildbow just Straight Up Forgot to include the most compelling aspect of their background + characterization in the text (it was provided via WoG instead, which i provide to all wormreaders like a fuckin' DLC patch when they get to where it's relevant) & entirely forgets they exist towards where the end of their character arc should have been. the second is introduced w/ the most misogynoiristic description on the planet but blessedly has a largely compelling and well-written arc as the book goes on.
- depiction of china is just like. fox news level sinophobic "it's all a brainwashed indistinguishable evil cult" shit. not relevant for very long relatively speaking but insufferable to read. asian characters are also like. we got Brutal Yet Honorable Asian Man. we got Fiery Asian Girl With Blue Eyes. it fucking blows it's not good
- oh yeah forgot this one someone mentioned in the tags. #it's an insignificant paragraph and nobody talks about it but the part where it goes #“yeah literally EVERY cape in South America is with a cartel and the heroes are barely distinguishable from the villains” #fuck you #not that the others aren't bad the fatphobia gets really gross but nobody mentions this and that one got me so yeah typical Insufferable Awful Imperial Core Author Understanding Of What Other Countries Are Like
- i could make this section one million bulletpoints long but the gist is summarized i think--wildbow's varied racist biases leak fucking everywhere, into character design, into narrative assumptions about who's deserving of interiority/empathy or not, into attempts at Saying Anything About Society, into which characters he prioritizes, into who he offers validity via the narrative, etc etc etc.
homophobia:
- theres a girl named amy dallon in it and she is the worst lesbophobic stereotype ever known to man. no other Problematic Lesbian™ you can think of has anything on this girl. the worst part is that she genuinely has a decently compelling character concept and arc, which her being awful is integral to, so you might accidentally find her interesting anyway and then she'll move into your brain
- wildbow kept accidentally writing characters that scan as massive dykes and then got really mad about f/f ships for the book being popular in the fandom. he responded by making a deranged forum post involving the phrase "pandering is pandering" insisting everyone (but the bisexual "hedonist") is straight and writing a scene into the book where one of the characters literally turns to the camera and tells the readers "not to get the wrong idea" about her hugging her friend.
- over the course of 1.7 million words he finds excuses to loudly inform you that all of the relevant female characters are straight and it's sooo shoehorned in you can always tell when he's doing it
- basically worm is like if naruto was about homoerotic teenage girls who do violent terrible things, in terms of levels of unintentional homoeroticism, and the author responds to ppl going "lmao gay" about the unintentional homoeroticism with poorly restrained seething rage
fatphobia:
- generic brand of fatphobia you'll see in p much all mainstream media where only side/bg characters are fat and it's obliquely used as a descriptor to indicate that someone has negative personality traits or should be viewed as sort of gross
anti-addict shit:
- wildbow generally likes writing about how social circumstances--i.e neglect from society, oppression, failure on behalf of systems--causes crime. he generally likes demonstrating the ways in which the villainous main characters are traumatized teenagers failed by society fumbling to keep existing & holding each other up through The Horrors. unfortunately all of this intelligent writing flies out the nearest window when addicts are involved. there is a gang comprised entirely of addicts, all of whom are portrayed as disgusting, violent, dangerous, and of course often racially stereotyped. it is a mercy to the readers when they're no longer relevant to the story.
- on a more subtle level, characters are every so often just like. a little more anti-drug than they would realistically be and you can tell it's wildbow's opinions leaking into their characterization. this is largely what the anti-addict writing is kept to after The Addict Villains leave the story iirc.
if youre wondering wellwhy does anyone read this book then. to that i would say that unfortunately despite it all it'sa fucking excellent book. so we all carry on reading the parts that suck and thinking about how they suck and then reading the parts that fuck and going "ouuugh my god" and rolling down 20 flights of stairs about how hard they fuck.

I’ve translated them all and have provided some interesting insight and information when and where I could. Some more interesting info on some of these titles under the Read More!
First we have the “Knight of Dragon Emblem” title. This makes me think of Fire Emblem (a video game series that I am not overly familiar with, I just know the name) and dragon imagery. Dragon imagery is associated with strength, courage, magic, and all of that kind of stuff. While a knight protects.
Second we have “Watermelon Woman,” when I looked this up, I found a Wikipedia page on a 1996 romantic-comedy drama called “The Watermelon Woman.” This is a movie that was written, edited, and directed by Cheryl Dunye:
a Liberian-American film director, producer, screenwriter, editor and actress. Dunye's work often concerns themes of race, sexuality, and gender, particularly issues relating to black lesbians. She is known as the first out black lesbian to ever direct a feature film with her 1996 film The Watermelon Woman. She runs the production company Jingletown Films based in Oakland California.

She also stars as the lead role in the film. The lead character is Cheryl who is a “young black lesbian.”
This is the song that plays when Carol and Dorothy show up. Interesting. In the movie, Cheryl explores a lesbian relationship with a white woman Hmm....
But it also plays during stuff like Miri’s daycare interview with Miss Anna. So, I don’t know if there might be some other reference as well.
It could be an indicator of musical influence as well. At least, I definitely think that the song titles Battle of Spanish Joint and Mystery of Spanish Joint come from a song by D’Angelo that came out in 2011. The song is titled, “Spanish Joint,” and you can definitely hear some of the musical influences there.

The lyrics are rather interesting, especially if you think about them in connection to Buddy Daddies.
One song is titled Requiem, which has a few meanings:

“Don’t Say Goodbye” is the song that Miri’s mother sings in the snack bar back in Episode 3. We get the extra lyric of: “I wanna spend as much time as possible...” Given the current situation she is in, with cancer and wanting Miri back, etc. This song seems like it will be reflective of her feelings in regards to all of those things. I hope we get a full version of it in the actual series itself too!

what character is the character you think the fandom always gets really almost insultingly wrong? for me its mapleshade
I’ve got a few, but I also made posts for some of those already, namely that Leopardstar is not a fascist apologist and has spent all her life guilt-ridden and trying to atone for Tigerclan and Stonefur’s death. There’s also the fact Tigerstar Sr is not racist (although he sure pretends to be), but I made a post about that too.
I’m starting to think that Brackenfur is done dirty too but I’m going to wait until I finish re-reading the prophecy begins.
Mothwing might be a good beginning, not because I think there’s much more than the text says, but because the fandom doesn’t even seem to have read the text.
Mothwing according to the fandom: Lesbian medicine cat who should have eloped with Leafpool instead of Crowfeather. The erins don’t kill her off because they would have to answer the question of where she would go since she’s atheist.
Mothwing according to the text: A medicine cat (so basically a doctor and priest) who saw her brother drown in front of her, saw her mother abandon her other brother and her in a clan whose entire culture circles around water, who learned a new faith, sacrificed her whole future life (couldn’t have a mate nor kits now) for the good of the clan when Star Clan designated her to become a medicine cat (yes she wanted to but still), then discovered her brother, the only family she had left, had betrayed her trust, and made up a sign, which in turn broke her faith in Star Clan.
She’s also, but tries to move from it, the daughter of (one of) the greatest criminals who ever walked the forest. She was thrown as the only medicine cat in the clan rather young, when Mudfur decided to stay behind in the forest (also he didn’t decide because he was actively dying but that’s not my point). She has had her share of traumatic events, including discovering her brother (again, her only family left) was an awful guy, almost failing to save a drowning apprentice, being abused by her brother, having to hide her lack of faith, etc.
The only friend we know to her that is her equal (and not like, her apprentice or a much younger or older cat) is Leafpool, and they care deeply for each other, but would both still put their clan first.
So why I think everyone got her wrong:
Her core, the center of her whole being and personnality, rests on the fact she is, somehow, broken, but in a Kintsugi way (kintsugi is a japanese word which basically means mending something with gold to make it even more beautiful and unique than before).
She’s such an interesting medicine cat because she doesn’t have faith in Star Clan. If, after The Last Hope, she believes there’s a life after death (which I’m not sure she does) she still believes they are flawed, and dying doesn’t make you smarter. We know Jayfeather had kinda the same reaction but in his case it was more like rebelling because people told him to do something he didn’t want to. In Mothwing’s case, it’s all about knowing that there are bad people who died, too, and flawed people. She’s seen many people from Riverclan die, and we can imagine she has seen some when she still was having visions, before she learned about the moth wing Hawkfrost put up. So she knows Star Clan cats are not inherently wise.
And that’s a very rare thing, to see a cat who does believe Star Clan exists in some extent, but questions their judgement. We see Nightpelt/star doing that, too, but Mothwing’s a medicine cat, aka the only place in the clan in which it is necessary to believe in Star Clan, to have faith in it.
She’s also a descendant of Tigerstar, but she’s not like her siblings. Hawkfrost tried to take over the lake, Bramblestar became leader the legal way, Tawnypelt had kits... whether politically or genetically, they’re all carrying a bit of Tigerstar in them and propagating them. Mothwing doesn’t fight, and Mothwing can’t have kits. Plus she doesn’t believe in life after death enough to receive visions or dreams, so she can’t even see Tigerstar in her dreams. She’s the only one who severes the ties of Past and Future. She’s a Present embodiement.
She also shares the name of the first medicine cat ever. She has friends in all four clans. She was a warrior before becoming a medicine cat.
She is so much more than a baseless ship the fandom is parading around the streets...
Yeah anyway she’s one of my “Only-I-Have-The-Right-Opinion-About-Them” characters.

I think I'll finish the main story update on Friday; I've spent a few hours on it between other obligations and as it stands, I'm a little over halfway done.
My schedule for tomorrow is crammed too, but I might get an hour or so of gameplay in. Everyone's been fun so far! A completely arbitrary favoritism tier list of the Penacony characters (STC):
Acheron—the red text? HI3 Mei references? And her overall aesthetic design... she ate up so well. I want her viscerally, carnally, and every way I can have her.
Sunday—his in-game CN voice caught me off guard more than I'd like to admit. I've heard his voice from the 1.6 trailer, but hearing it in game felt more off-putting. He's short? And the same height as Stelle? The way he stands is a kind of... if I speak, I'm in trouble.
Firefly—I will cry.
Misha—his eyes look like keyholes and the doors of the Reviere Hotel. From what I've gotten up to, he definitely seems to have a deeper connection to the overall plot. And his animations are cute!
Aventurine—he's... also shorter than I expected. It makes the scene with Dr. Ratio a little funny, actually. His eyes look cool, and I'm interested in knowing more about his past before the IPC! As expected, business major vibes, though he lays it on a little too thick to not be intentional. I didn't expected the comments from Dr. Ratio and Sparkle... at least in Dr. Ratio's case, I expected better, but he's already proven to be quite prejudiced in his approach to education.
Sam—haven't met him yet, but I quite like the Stellaron Hunters, and he's one of them, too!
Sparkle—she's funny. I like that. I don't know how much I trust her on Masked Fools lore yet, but I'll take any Aha lore regardless of the facts. She's also antagonistic towards Aventurine, but he did stalk her for 45 system minutes, so I can understand being a bit put off by that (those comments were rather over the top, though...).
Robin—she's pretty and definitely some percentage of lesbian. Her dress is so nice! I love her design. Though for someone who's whole thing is being in the limelight, we don't really get to see much of that (yet?).
Black Swan—Garden of Recollection lore has me on an email list. Unfortunately, I don't dig her design that much.
Gallagher—not my type, haven't seen enough to move him up the ranks.
For Duke Inferno and the rest of the Annihilation Gang—I still don't think they're showing up.

First impression: "oh wow everyones' 5D's wife Sherry is like FRENCH French huh, omg."
Impression now: SHERRRYYY I LOVE YOU UNWELL WOMAN. god like. 5D's is chronically pretty bad about its girls but I do love that Sherry just got to have a complete Unhinged Woman Moment and get herself all entangled in the Iliaster bullshit. She got to go sicko mode. She's a fuckin badass and I love that her Duel Runner looks like a horse. Big love for ygo girl who just can beat the shit out of people.
Favorite moment: Her Ark Cradle duel is just so fucking cooooool aahhh...the aesthetic of it all, the desert/rose garden illusion fuckery. The Big Skeleton Door. Sherry McFreaking Loses It (and then gets better.) love it so much.
Idea for a story: have thought a lot about a roseknight story where Sherry works as a knight at a Renfaire that Akiza visits..... rotating them in my mind.
Unpopular opinion: she's cool and i like her :^) also i think her dynamic with akiza is fun. idk if that's unpopular or not though dfgfd

First impression: "oh this is SUCH a good yugioh character design." adored her glasses from the moment I saw her.
Impression now: THE FAILGIRL OF ALL TIME THAT YUGIOH DESPERATELY DESERVED everything that's been said about how big a bummer it is that she got shafted in the second half has been said, but it is true and it does suck. Love her though.She's just nice and kind of cringe and I think we should LET HER!!! also her Dark Signer form fucking shredsssss she also got to have a bit of an Unhinged Woman Moment. And thank god.
Favorite moment: I rly need to rewatch the first half of 5D's to remember more, but I do love when she and Jack go to the amusement park and he is just being a mopey cunt the whole time.

Unpopular opinion: They really Did Not Know what to do with her in s2 of 5Ds but it doesnt like. make break the entire back half for me. but also second half of 5ds makes me insane for other reasons. Also I like her dub voice more than her sub voice but idk if thats unpopular or not??

Greatly respect being obsessed with and theming yourself around a character that you don’t respect in the slightest

oki oki ill defend him a bit here. it bothers me when people frame him as incompetent, when he is instead the mtg equivalent of tom from tom & jerry. tom can never fucking win, or the plot would fall apart
there was nothing wrong with his plan nor the execution of said plan in dragon’s maze, it just turned out to not be a race at all and instead require you to be the multiverse’s most powerful telepath to win. he got all the guilds to agree to a guild summit, but then the woman he thoroughly vetted ended up breaking it apart (isperia did deserve it tho, no disrespect for vraska). he designed a machine capable of suspending the laws that bind ravnica’s reality (laws that were put into place by an oldwalker) but i guess it doesnt count because dovin baan fuckin sabotaged it. he couldnt beat tezzeret because the machine that tezzeret did not even build himself made him immune to his magic
ral cannot win, because he has never been in a situation where that wouldnt derail everything. he couldnt beat jace because plot armor, he couldnt beat nicol bolas because fuckin obviously that would kinda ruin the next two novels (but also, yanno, hes bolas), and he couldnt beat tez because hes a main antagonist in the next story arc. i dont know why people act like hes an idiot, when the text plainly shows he really fuckin isnt. he just isnt allowed to win

seeing people who hate chainsaw man explain why they hate it fucking owns. for one thing i’m glad i’m past taking shit personally even about what i gave up and declared my Favorite Thing Everrr, but like. the biggest part is like. theres of course glaring shit to be pointed out and questioned about CSM and how it depicts certain subjects and people. its treatment of women is.... fucking *weird*, galloping between quasifeminist (from a “let female characters be real people with real faults” perspective) and just straight up “every woman is just out to get poor young men. fucking bitches. >:(” and while I do ******not******* think it ever actually falls into the latter its not something i could ever blame someone for taking away from the text or interpreting as the intent. where and when it chooses to properly full-on sexualize characters is its own can of worms, showing remarkable restaint at *points* keeping denji’s horndoggedness third person slash not sullying the audience perspective with Direct Thirsty Male Gaze Shit (USUALLY), but it also pulls a *lot* of (RELATIVELY tasteful given. some. other anime but i might’ve just blown out my perspective on what constitutes tasteful from having poisoned myself with bakemonogatari as a teenager.....) nudity with Reze, who unlike Makima has no stated age and is presented as a far more “viable” love interest for the runt than her confirmed-to-be-a-working-adult ass. leaving the possibility that she’s underage (her design isn’t really that helpful given kobeni is like 20 and absolutely tiny). If she ISNT underage then that leaves room for the interpretation that the story is positively comparing her being romantic with denji to another adult doing similar, which is fucked up, but frankly the narrative doesn’t exactly condone what she pulls it just doesn’t spoonfeed you the fact that “denji still trying to romance the woman who bit his tongue off would be bad” WHICH MAYBE WAS ASKING TOO MUCH OF THE AUDIENCE BC. HOO BOY HOWDY HOWDY HOWDY LOOK AT THOSE SHIPPERS (IMO when she goes back to run away with him its not a romantic impulse on her part. the story more than establishes fair reason for her to try to “save” him from the city life that isn’t amorously-oriented. I’d be fine with it if she actually is his age though, which isn’t out of the question actually bc she’s practically a genderbend of yoshida design-wise sfldhsgklhksdghlksgd. That’d still come with the other “well that option makes the narrative worse in X way” things described earlier though.) THEN THERES THE LESBIAN ORGY AND I THINK THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF??? THERES NOT MUCH TO SAY THERE. THE HYPERVIGILANT PART OF MY BRAIN WANTS TO BRING UP HOW MUCH SMALLER THE FIENDS ARE THAN QUANXI BUT AGAIN KOBENI IS LIKE THE HEIGHT OF A MOUSE. OTHER THAN THAT I GOT NOTHING TO ADD OTHER THAN “FULL FRONTAL LESBIAN ORGY IN A SHONEN BY AN AUTHOR THATS at least for now A MAN”.
But like. That got away from me for a bit. I love the manga to *death*, again its like the best fucking comic ever made bury me with it, but theres tons that even I could point out. EVEN from a narrative standpoint, the aspect that i think is the most perfect and wonderful, has fairly large holes that could do with criticism. Theres a lotta shit wrong with that piece of work.
My ACTUAL point, and the point that makes criticisms of it “fucking own”, is that the manga is so god damn direct in its ethos that all people REALLY need to say as to why they don’t like it is “jesus christ denji is a horny gross wierdo”. Series comes with its own lightning rod for having to explain why you don’t like it. basically everything objectionable about it can be summed up one way or another with just talking shit about the protagonist. it rules its funny as fuck he’s like a rodeo clown.

♡ Sexuality - Sssstraight? Straight. Mhm… Totally. (Not at all. She's a closeted lesbian, but she's not really sure… and she's a bit too nervous to delve into those feelings to figure it out, considering internalised and societal homophobia.)
♡ About - A kind and gentle young girl, Faith leads a bit of a double life- in the most simple of senses. She is currently Pine Bluff High School's student council president, and enjoys several different school clubs, such as Chess Club and Junior Debate Team. She also works as a Junior clerk for Video Video Video, part time and unpaid ('volunteer work', as she calls it- 'voluntold work', as Leo calls it). She keeps herself well kept, making sure to stick to her mothers (rather strict) standards of 100% cotton, and ensures she stands by the rules set by herself, her mother, and society as a whole (even if she sooometimesss wonders what it would be like to do everything but- and live on the edge like… ah!! Never mind!).
On the flip side of her 'double life', she joined Video Video's horror movie club, Video Horror Society, a few months ago, after she started working as a clerk up front (and when her friend, Maria, went missing). She often writes little notes to herself in the margins of her notebooks as she is annotating her homework- but keeps more… Interesting things in a personal journal of hers. Things like… Imagining herself as a princess, and hoping that a knight would come to whisk her away~ More often than not, however, she hides this notebook away from her peers, so as to avoid revealing her (not-so) secret crush… as the pages show more to her than she is keen on sharing. Things like how she sometimes wished that knight in shining armor hid a pretty, dark and brooding girl underneath… er, no! Of course not…!
Oh... I really am a hopeless romantic, aren't I?
Also, as a fun note, Faith loves cats!! Any kitty, any at all, will get many loves and snuggles and treats. Her own cat, Prince Pawsington, is certainly no exception. She has even tried to bring Pawsington with her to Video Video once, much to the dismay of customers and Leo's asthma. Her brooch and spectral are named after her real life cat:
He's a bit of a picky creature though, and doesn't care for anyone other than Faith and her mother. Anyone else is, at the very least, assured to be hissed at. Especially if you sit in his favourite chair.

I don't like when people pair the 'spares'. I've hated ever since I read Harry Potter, I hated it when I read Percy Jackson, I hated it in the Marvel and DC fandoms, and I hate it to this day. This sounds bizarre coming from a shipping-centered blog, but not everybody needs a love interest.
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.

Guilty Gear:
Ky Kiske was a sleeper hit for me. I didn't realize how much I liked him until I wrote a whole wall of text about why his haters are wrong in someone's inbox. He's been through so much - losing his parents, becoming a child soldier, and being forced to appease a puppet government who threatened to hurt the love of his life and his young son - but he still finds hope for future. He still manages to find love in his heart for everyone.
I like Testament very much. Their story deeply resonates with me - a story of a hurt person who believes themselves to be unlovable and irredeemable, but who still tries their best to help the others in their life, and who finds redemption in the people who's they've helped.
I think Dizzy is amazing. I love her story, I love her theme music, and I love her designs. She's just a normal woman who happens to be able to produce nuclear explosions, and who has two weird apparitions (that happen to be married) protecting her. She's been through so much in her life - being forced to bear the sins of her mother, being persecuted and rejected by everyone from the day she was born, and having the family she wanted desperately taken away from her - and she still stays nice, kind, and humble.
Marvel Comics:
I love the Hawkeyes. They're fun characters, but they have enough darkness to play with. Hawkeye (2012) is an amazing comic, and I could not have asked for a better introduction to the Marvel Comics universe. I think that Hawkeye (2012) did a great job at humanizing both Kate Bishop and Clint Barton. It made them feel like people first, and superheroes second.
I am a Deadpool apologist. I think he deserves so much better than what he's given. I think that even fandom gives him the short end of the stick a lot. Wade often gets misunderstood as being someone who intentionally goes out of his way to cross boundaries. He also gets misunderstood as being child-like. I think that Deadpool understands boundaries, and knows what he is doing and saying. However, I think he greatly misunderstands social cues, and has a very immature sense of humor.
Kind of cheaty, but I love the Great Lakes Avengers. Their outlandish origins drew me to comics in the first place. The fact that someone thought they were called the GLA because they were a Gay-Lesbian Alliance is just comedic gold to me. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for them...despite all of the very questionable shenanigans they get up to.
Ducktales:
Penumbra was my gay awakening. I love her so much. I think she deserves so much more love than she gets. I pray to whoever rules our Earthly domain to give me or someone else the strength and will to write write a 80k word Penumbra character study with a slow burn Dellumbra love story.
I love Gyro Gearloose. He's an middle-aged divorced dad who doesn't have custody of his kids trapped inside of a 32-year old gay chicken's body.
Fenton deserves so much better what both the fandom and the writers gave him. I think that most of the problems in Ducktales could have been solved a lot faster if they gave him a gun.

A story about courage, growing up and finding friendships in most unlikely places... spiced with some MAD SCIENCE!
I read this one not too long ago and I really enjoyed it! The art is amazing, I love the characters and I can’t wait to read more!
Encore!
A comic about two childhood friends who grew apart, but have now been pushed back into each other's lives, for better or for worse
The representation is so nice and so natural in this one. One of the main characters is a trans gay dude and in his friend group there is a trans bi girl, a bisexual non-binary character, a lesbian, another gay dude and there’s also an asexual character. I just really like it.
Heartstopper
Charlie, a highly-strung, openly gay over-thinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, meet at a British all-boys grammar school. Friendship blooms quickly, but could there be something more...?
I think we all know this one by now, but yeah, go read it again.
I want to be a cute anime girl
Charon's sister dressed him up as a girl, and he liked it. This is their story, learning about who they are, and their friends and family around them.
Another story about a trans person! Because yes! Anyways, this comic helped me realise that ‘oh, cis people don’t think like that..’. The comic is just overall really nice to read
Lemon, soda & coffee
When you notice a pretty stranger on the streets, chances are you’ll never meet them again. You’ll just walk by and continue your normal flow of life… Axel’s pipe dream of seeing his pretty stranger again is, for better or worse, met with an extra package.
This is one of my favourites at the moment. It’s just really sweet and I really like the art. It does deal with PTSD, so a warning for that, but yeah, I really love this one.
Punderworld
Hades' and Persephone's love-struck misadventures.
Some author as Blood Stain! So the Art is equally amazing, if not better, because damn, those Greek God designs are so cool. Based on Greek Mythology (obviously) but with more consent! That’s always nice!
R.U. Screwed
Howie and Sooch are friends and floormates at Raisley University. Howie secretly has a thing for Sooch. Sooch just wants to make it through the semester. Will they lose their minds?!
Deals with discovering your sexuality and all that. It’s really cute and I love the way the author handles the different sittuations. It feels really comforting to read.
Socializing 101
Ever since he was young Mihai had always been intimidating and socially awkward making others avoid him. He grew up to preferring to stay within his social circle that include his grandmother, two friends and his beloved cat Muffins…Well, that how it used to be until he started university and a new neighbour moves in with his friend and she turns out to be almost the exact opposite of him.
Another one of my absolute favourites. Again, it just reads really nice, the art is amazing, the characters are interesting, the romance isn’t forced, I love it.
Tied in Red
Ned's a normal guy. All he wants is a normal life, with a normal job, and a normal wife, in the normal universe where those with soul mates are born with a red string on their pinkie.
Really like this one too. The art is nice, I like the way the story progresses, the characters are fun, the romance isn’t forced (yes these are my standards. It’s suprising how high they are apparently).

The daily life of an apprentice witch.
This was one of the first Webtoons I read. The art is stunning (no seriously, look at it!!!), romance isn’t the main plot (the demiromantic in me was so happy), the character designs are so interesting and pretty and beautiful and- yeah I could go on about the art
Always Human
This is a story about nanobots, genetic engineering, and two girls falling in love. No matter how technology changes us, we'll always be human.
Same artist as Aerial Magic so yes!! The art is amazing!! I really like the way this author creates fantasy worlds. It’s so interesting (same in Aerial Magic), the characters are again absolutely stunning and it has cute lesbians! What more do you want!
Crumbs
In a very special town, there’s a very unusual bakery where the house specialty is a selection of baked treats hand-crafted to help you make your dreams come true – whether you need inspiration, support or confidence, they’ve got a cake or muffin fresh-made with magic to meet your needs. But for Ray, a quiet young woman with special powers of her own, the order is always the same: a hot tea with a delicious side of romance.
I loved the ending. Sounds weird, but I just really like how the story dealt with everything and how you can really understand every choice the main character makes. Amazing world building, beautiful art,
Just for Kicks
A lighthearted comic about an amateur university Taekwondo club! Join the team as they train, sweat, eat, & laugh their way through daily life.
I know nothing about martial arts, but this was still so enjoyable to read. I just love the art style and yeah, it was a great reading experience.

code name verity by elizabeth wein
A beautifully written feminist fantasy retelling of St. George and the Dragon. A diverse cast of characters, gorgeous and engaging worldbuilding, so many dragons, and maybe one of the most carefully, beautifully developed f/f relationships between main characters that I’ve ever read. I’ve reread it multiple times, including listening to the audio book just to feel more immersed. This is exactly what I mean when I say I love fantasy and want to find more fantasy books.
A lesbian necromancers space opera filled with honest-to-god in-text meme references crossed with a whodunnit murder mystery. The most unique narrative voice I’ve ever read with the most distinct character personalities. Balances horror and humor on a needle point with ease. I literally created a playlist for this that I then wrote a song-by-song explanation for, if that explains anything.
A delicately interwoven love story in gorgeous epistolary prose. Alternating points of view, constantly shifting settings, breathtaking metaphors and imagery. “I’ll be all the poets, I’ll kill them all and take each one’s place in turn, and every time love’s written in all the strands it will be to you.” is an actual quote that makes me lose my fucking mind. I can and will judge a book by its cover when it’s as beautiful inside and out as this novella.
Reading this book will now always be waking up early on a summer morning and sitting outside in the slowly warming sun, surrounded by green and birdsong and patio stones chilly under my feet. Reading the sentence “And here my baby came indeed, through all that sunlight, his face flushed and his hair flying, his eyes, unbelievably, like morning stars.” and sitting with it in all that sunlight, in all that early morning silence. It’s hard to put anything else about this novel into words.
The main conflict revolves not around a war, but a path to self-discovery. As Le Guin described it, “The discovery brings him victory, the kind of victory that isn't the end of a battle but the beginning of a life.” This was an important distinction for me: these worlds, these characters are not singularly contained within their pages. At the end of every story can be, should be, at its core, the beginning of a life.
Found family on a spaceship. Beautifully diverse female and nonbinary characters. What else could you want from a graphic novel? A love story, a coming of age story, a story about community and healing and support all shown through distinctly designed and colored panels. Beautiful. Just so beautiful and hopeful and loving.
A classic Japanese coming of age novel with prose as rolling, swelling, and captivating as the sea itself. Full of resonating emotion, a genuine young protagonist, delicate young love, and human connection. There’s this emotion I felt while reading it that I still can’t adequately explain, something fulfilling and melancholic all at once.
Thornton Wilder has the most distinct power of any writer I’ve read to show significance in the insignificant. There’s a beautiful simplicity in the way this book lays bare the humanity in all people. He narratively grapples with the question of fate versus will with a slow-building and detailed description of the lives lost when the titular bridge breaks, and his ability to consider existential meaning through the mundanity makes this a novel that sticks with me.
The modern enemies to lovers fairytale we always deserved. Alex’s struggle with his sexuality is deeply relatable and his relationship with Henry is developed so carefully and lovingly. It’s just such a fun, accessible, and comforting read, especially for a young adult queer reader.
I’ll randomly think of the line “Kiss me, Hardy, kiss me quick!” and cry. Intricately written and so deceiving in the best, most intentional ways, that I was actually breathless when I began to figure things out. Once again: I love epistolary novels. Also, Julie apparently being confirmed bisexual in the prequel is something that can actually be so personal.

hiya again, just wondering if you could tell us about your tattoos (if you feel like it and want to ofc), i just love tattoos, they're so fucking great
Sure thing!
First one I got for my 18th birthday on my upper arm and it was based on a piece of Celtic jewelry I saw online because I really loved the concept of life having a cyclic nature, which was something that was mentioned in the jewelry design when I read about it (pic from the actual appointment, back when the greens were still suuuuper vibrant!)
Second one I got was the text "Conquer it" in black ink on my other arm when I was 19. It was kind of a dual memorial to my grandfather and a reminder to myself, because my grandfather absolutely loved telling the story of how when I was 3 years old he caught me looking very intensely out the front window. When he asked me what I was looking at, I said "the world" and then he asked me "uh huh, and what are you going to do with it?" To which my 3 year old self replied confidently "conquer it!!"
Third one was a longsword going down almost the entire length of my right calf when I was 20, because I fucking love swords (totally unrelated note but damn do I miss those orange converse, that summer working in a kitchen took its toll 😭)
Fourth one I got a few years later on my back just before my 22nd birthday - a blend of the paragon and renegade symbols from Mass Effect with the iconic "I should go" line that Shepard uses for just about every damned interaction. I got this one not just because I loved the series, but because the first game was what helped me to finally come out as a lesbian back when I was 18, so it's always had a place in my heart even for all its many other faults (pic on the left is at the studio right after it was finished, pic on the right is present day. Thinking about getting this one touched up soon to bring those bright colors back!)
After that was the one on my right inner wrist - it's a combo of a bunch of different nicknames and symbols that played a role in my friendship and eventual relationship with my fiancée. We used to play Halo together all the time back when we were just friends, starting with Halo Reach. Over that time we started referring to each other as "Noble 2" and "Noble 4" after our favorite characters and those nicknames stuck with us for years (that's actually still her name in my phone), so hence the Roman numeral 2 (Also on the touch up list - may also have the artist add some new colors to the feather!)
Next was a pair of words in Irish, "wolf" and "warrior" one just under each collarbone. Both words hold a lot of personal meaning to me, and I wanted them in Irish because a few months prior I had decided to start learning the language to help keep that part of my heritage alive
And the last one (at least til September when I have an appointment to get my Addams family themed piece done on the other side of this forearm!) I got done back in 2018 on my left forearm. It was a design inspired by the video game Bloodborne because I absolutely loved that game (story, characters, weapons, enemies, you name it). The design is of a realistic human heart pierced through in different places by double ended frenzy effect arrows, blood spatter effect in the background, the Hunter's Mark down by the end of my wrist in that same blood style, and then the words "A hunter must hunt" going back up at an angle
