Idk why the fucken... Divide between "it was alternate universes" & "Paul is just trans" ideas for Petscop has to be torn into a cavern. Paul being trans DOES make sense, but requires you to ignore huge details that immediately make it not work. The alternate universes DO kind of make sense, but require you to extrapolate out a lot of info purposefully left unshown.

It's hard to describe what i want to say, here -- i do think Paul being trans makes sense, 'splains why he & Care "look eeriely similar," you could argue he's just thoroughly blocked out that part of his life enough to have forgotten Care entirely, etc. I like it, & i keep it as i also say "Yeah, it's that & the universes theory." It's not two switches that demand you can only flip on one of them -- you can have both. You can have neither. Do whatever

Watched ‘Charades’ - The Vulcan/Human stuff wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be tbh, very enjoyable episode! Love T’Pring no notes for T’Pring you were so sweet the whole time. Her holding his hand and subtly giving him tips to make the ritual go smoothly...AAA!! Christine/Spock things sooo boring on their own but as angst for T’Pring? Very good. She wasn’t even gone a DAY before they made out. DUMP! HIS! ASS <3 The phone operator please-hold aliens were very cute to me, I liked them! Also Amanda & T’Pring’s dad should chill together, that’s good vibes all around. Also it introduced the concept of a sacred Vulcan familial roast sesh which is honestly so fucking funny and I adore it. Five minutes on the clock to devastate your future son-in-law, better make it count.

One thing I love about Fire Emblem Three Houses is that Byleth is told “You are a teacher now” and they basically respond like: gasp “I’m a teacher now”

Like, they go hard on teaching immediately. They get to know all of their students, they take meals with their students, they live nearby to their students, they answer questions, they speak to not only their own students but every student in the school, like Byleth was given a handful of people a few years younger than them and they immediately decided that they would protect all of them with their life.

Byleth just loves their students and every student and their dad and fishing and that’s it, that’s all the things they love, I’m so glad we’ve gotten this cleared up-

My friend who’s currently playing it (and just met Jowd) follows me so I don’t want to get into TOO many details, but:

There was actually a project spun off from the Ace Attorney fan musical like, a decade ago to try and do a Ghost Trick musical in the same style. Don’t think it ever got finished - I believe there was trouble getting enough singers - but I remember I wrote lyrics for a song for it before having a health crisis that meant I dropped the project suddenly. (This was basically the story of my 20s.) It was a fun time.

So yeah, love that game. Of the two Standalone Cult Classic DS Games About Death With Quirky But Well-Utilized Mechanics Using DS Gimmicks, Spiky-Haired Amnesiac Protagonists, And Themes About How We Relate To Other People, (and HELLA spoilers with a massive eleventh-hour plot twist or two that completely recontextualize the game on replay, which I COULD draw deeper comparisons on but will not because the aforementioned spoiler thing.) TWEWY’s always been the one that consumed me more, but Ghost Trick is still one of my absolute favorites and I recommend it to literally everyone. It’s funny, it’s clever, it’s got an extremely cute pomeranian, it’s a GREAT mystery that holds up on replay, the soundtrack is fantastic, and the animation…

Cabanela is the MOST ridiculous character but trust me, there are more, and even more understated characters’ animations are top-notch. (Friend has not yet reached The Most Giffable Part, or I’d use it.)

One day I'm going to finish my FFXVI mega essay, but for now I think my thoughts on the game can be summarized like this:

When making FFXVI, the developers sure knew what they wanted to do, and by god were they going to do it.

Were they also going to do other things that would make those first thing better? Were they going to do other things that make a good game overall? Ehhhhh...they were going to do what they wanted to do, and invest all their time and effort into that, so surely that would be enough! Surely!
