Making a Holy Grail War means I need seven masters. And here's my introduction to them!
Tagging the artist that I'm able to, please give them some love, they're amazing and deserve it:

Wei Ying does the Holy Grail War
A crossover with fate/stay night
Note: for those of u who don’t know, fate/stay night is a battle royale where seven mages summon seven heroes from the past and future to battle for a single wish.
The Teams:
Mo xuanyu - Wei Wuxian - Caster
Mo xuanyu summoned wei wuxian. He believes its because they are both driven by revenge. But in truth, he summoned Wei wuxian because of their shared drive and frustration with their unjust circumstances
Wei Wuxian complains about being back plenty of times, goofs off, and tries to get Mo xuanyu to relax
Mo xuanyu finds him frustrating but also a bit like an older brother
Wei wuxian for his part sees mo xuanyu as his chance to offer the support he so desperately needed in his last days, and to remind the boy not to give up on life
There fighting style is to keep to the shadows, often wei wuxian tries to pretend he’s not even a spirit
Lan wangji - Hua Cheng - Archer
Lan wangji does not approve of this war, the cost, or the cruelty it invokes
But! He is desperate for that wish, and a chance to wish wei wuxian back to life
That desperation, that willingness to do anything to save his beloved, summoned Hua Cheng
They work well together in a fight, but in their down time…
They hate each other
Lan wangji finds Hua Cheng’s arrogance agrivating, his unwillingness to follow the simplest order’s frustrating, and his handwriting a sin against nature
Hua cheng finds lan wangji cold, stuck up, and worst of all, he bares a grudge because lan wangji wants to fight jiang cheng, and jiang cheng summoned…
Jiang Cheng - Xie Lian - Saber
It was jiang cheng’s despair that summoned xie lian, the overwhelming feeling he let everyone down and lost everything
Jiang cheng and xie lian work well together, and get along realy well
Jiang cheng is reminded of his sister through xie lian’s gentle nature
Xie lian in turn is nostalgic for Mu Qing every second he listens to Jiang Cheng yell
Xie lian works hard to remind jiang cheng that he has waaaay farther to fall, and he should cheer up! He’s doing great! Bettee than xie lian!
Jiang cheng doesn’t have the heart to tell him that’s not a high bar
Jin Guangyao - shen Qingqiu - Assassin
When Jin Guangyao summoned Shen Qingqiu, the strategist of Cang Qiong mountain sect he was estatic! Finally a man who would understand what he’s been through, who’s just as ruthless as he is!
Alas, he did not get shen jiu, he got shen yuan, a posser pretending to be the strategist
He spends his time trying to make life better for the cute little students of lanling jin, lazing around, and trying to look clever
Jin guangyao is left wonderinf how dumb cang qiong mountain sect had to be if this was their best strategist
Nie Huaisang - Lou Binghe - beserker
Nie huaisang summoned lou binghe for one purpose only… revenge
And luo binghe with his OP everything, is more than happy to help this fan weilding man who reminds him just a bit of his shizun
Then he sees the spirit of nie huaisang’s arch nemisis, and turns into a sobbing maiden desperate to get shizun to notice him please!
In the background, Nie huaisang breaks his fan
A-Qing - Wen Qing - lancer
A-qing was not supposed to be in the war. She stole the relic from xue yang
The relic summoned Wen Qing, the legendary doctor
A-qing’s desire to bring back and protect xiao xingchen calls to wen qing’s own desire to protect wen ning
Armed with common sense, a-qing’s cunning, and needles, these two are the dark horse of this holy grail war
It helps that two other spirits reactions to seeing her is to start cryinf and hug her
Xue Yang - Mobei-jun - rider
Xue yang will not let anything get in between him and what he wants, even little blind.
He finds another relic and summons mobei-jun
Mobei jun has a soft spot for crazy small men who have no morals, but even xue yang gets on his nerves sometimes
No problem, mobei jun just picks him up by the scruff of his neck and holds him like s disgruntled kitten
Xue yang is a lot like a demon kid, mobei thinks he should ask shang qinghua if he wants to adopt some kids when he gets back
Xue yang does not apreciate this
And an honorary:
Lan sizhui - wen ning
Wen Ning is not an actually summoned spirit. He broke free from the jins and got rescued by lan sizhui when he found him in the woods
Lan sizhui proceeds to take him home and try to hide him, but lan jingyi found out
Lan jingyi was the one to come up with the plan of pretending they summoned wen ning to fight, so that they can have an excuse to bring Wen ning around and stop hiding him under lan sizhui’s bed
This unexpectedly works, since several masters are keeping to the shadows, lan jungyi and lan sizhui both feel very proud of themselves, but lan Wangji has all the angst about having to possibly face his son down the line, and could he realy do that?
Lucky for Lan Wangji, wei wuxian figures out what’s really going on pretty quick once he meets wen ning again.

was a bit bored during work, here is me infodumping about a hypothetical fate x Smurf au (or holy grail war au)
Masters/mages and who they summoned
Smurfette - Hefty
Brainy - Timid
Dreamer - Alchemist
Vanity - Handy
Blossom - Clumsy
Poet - Grouchy
Lilly - Storm
Servants/heroic spirits
Clumsy - rider
Handy - lancer
Hefty - saber
Storm - archer
alchemist - Castor
grouchy - Beserker
Timid - Assassin
overseer - papa Smurf (also, winner of the previous war, but due to the grails corruption, curated a mass extension of most other Smurfs his generation)
general thoughts about this alternative universe
-takes place in like a mordern variant of Smurf village, still small though. the au is more of a holy grail war au, though the holy grail is still considered corrupt and there has been at least 4 wars (grandpa Smurf and papa Smurf each being in two seperate wars with differing conclusions)
the heroic spirits are kinda linked to a hypothetical Smurf religion, each individual with a legend not related to any real world variants
hommonculi are still a thing, Smurfette being a notable example, created by gargamel for reasons of power/magic like In fate/apocrypha (so like irisivel)
mage families aren’t really a thing in this au in comparison to the main ones in fate (like the tohsakas, einzberns, Matous etc)
Gargamel would probably be similar to Kotomine Kirei antagonist wise. Being a survivor in the previous war who decides to fuck shit up for the sake of power
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my ramble about two of my biggest hyperfixations currently. I really love creating holy grail war aus

Super stoked for this content but goddamn I do wish that the Lost Belts would get their own anime, and not just a movie or even series of movies like Camelot or Grand Temple of Time.
Also always happy for more Gil/Enkidu bro time.

emiya kiritsugu's wish — too idealistic?
This isn’t even that long…I’m just brain-rotting at this point. While being heartbroken.
I’m sure people have already figured this out, but I guess I want to get my own thoughts out? Reminder that I’ve only watched Zero and only just watched three-ish episodes of Unlimited Blade Works, so…this is just me being philosophical tbh. So, yeah, I’ll most likely fix this when I finished that + Heaven’s Feel lol.
(it is taking all my willpower to not cry about him and Irisviel—)
As seen in the end, The 4th Holy Grail War ended in complete, total destruction of one entire area. I’m not sure I get it entirely, but yeah, Kiritsugu’s Command Spell on Saber to destroy the Grail backfired completely, and a fifth one takes place just ten years later.
The Grail showed hypothetical scenarios, wherein Kiritsugu acted for the greater good, as shown when he killed two hundred to save three hundred, when he killed Maiya—a trusted lieutenant and friend—to keep his wife and daughter alive, and he murdered the two of them, too, to save the world. Like the Grail said, majority over the minority.
That isn’t to say that Kiritsugu doesn’t care, or that he’s one of those types who believe that they have to sacrifice everything to save the world. While that is true to an extent, I believe that Kiritsugu’s ability to separate his emotions from his kill just doesn’t apply. He hated himself for having to kill Natalia, and it isn’t like he ever actively enjoyed being a murderer, I think.
What I mean is: Kiritsugu wants to save the world, but sometimes it would seem that it requires huge sacrifices. More and more killing to achieve the end goal—which makes me think: that’s why Kiritsugu didn’t go through with his wish in the end. Because the Grail is not an omnipotent wish-granting device; it’s something dangerous and it’s true that it should not ever fall into the wrong hands. Kiritsugu wasn’t right for the Grail—was he?—and just imagine if someone who had truly evil intentions got their hands on it. Chaos.
I can’t help of Rin and Archer’s first encounter. She used a Command Spell to compel absolute obedience from him in anger, and as powerful as she was, she couldn’t exactly get complete and absolute obedience from him, even using a Command Spell—because like Archer said, the command was too broad. Command Spells are meant to be a whole lot more specific, like when Shirou accidentally ordered Saber to stop fighting.
So…like, what if the same principle applies with the Grail? I’m probably going out on a limb here, but Kiritsugu’s wish basically was: bring peace to the world, stop with these fights and wars and kills, etc. etc. A savior to Earth, I suppose.
Except, he never really thought of it how exactly ‘peace to the world’ would come. He didn’t specify in which way the world needed to be saved. I doubt he actually had proper answers and hence that’s why he was turning to the Grail, which backfired big-time and it turned out that it wasn’t exactly the greatest idea, anyway.
The Holy Grail basically showed him what would happen if he went through with that wish of his. Because, without specifics, how is he meant to know the way peace will be coming? Like, will all the people on Earth simultaneously die? Will there be wars so bad and bloody that humanity is no more? Peace on Earth doesn’t really equate to the actual humans still being there, does it? And so, the scenes where he just kept killing and killing until…yeah.
Emiya Kiritsugu was supposed to be a hero, but even he couldn’t accept that he’d be a hero in that way. Which doesn’t necessarily mean he wouldn’t do it. He’s already so many people he knew. His father, Shirley, Natalia, Irisviel. Perhaps more. No matter what the end result was, I doubt that if he’d not turned around and made the decision to force Saber to destroy the Grail, he would have spared those souls…no matter how much he hated himself for it.
He’d have tried his hardest to keep Iri and Ilya safe, no doubt, but if it came right down to the worst…why does it sound like I’m being too dramatic help
Reminds me of the second opening theme, tbh:
“will one last miracle come to pass? a gentle voice paints a twisted future for the sake of a world where nobody will cry before reaching the crimson-stained sky my cries and prayers fade and disappear i can go on, abandoning all consolation.”
Yeah. If this is the result of the 4th War, honestly, I’m excited to see what’ll happen in Unlimited Blade Works!!
I don’t even know why I’m obsessing over this…probably because I have, to no one’s surprise, become Emotionally Attached ™ to these characters.
Why do I keep doing this to myself?

A challenge of Fate
When I began wrapping up Fate Genesis, readers would ask about the possibilities of a sequel and what that would entail. I politely but firmly insisted at the time that I had no intention of making a sequel. And that still holds true.
Still, as I watched Fate/Apocrypha on Netflix, I found myself wondering what a Grail War in Sonic’s world would entail, and how would that happen. But, being far too lazy to go into another major writing project right now, I instead would like to offer a challenge to you tumblers out here; What kind of Servants would appear in Sonic’s world, and which among the Sonic cast would become Masters? I’m not going to write a story, but am interested in your thoughts on the subject.
What’s the background?
Well, Let’s say, somehow, Darnic Yggdmillennia decides to host his own Grail War, and kidnaps Illya to act as the vessel. Shirou and Saber launch their own rescue attempt, and at the same time, Rin tries to create a portal in space-time. The result of these interferences causes all of Yggdmillennia’s Servants to instead be sucked into the portal and sent to manifest in Sonic’s world! And because Shirou and Saber disrupted the summons ceremony, instead of Servants called by the catalysts used by the Yggdmillennia, just about any old Servant would come out.
The basic format is that we are limited to the most basic Servant Classes, Saber / Archer / Lancer / Rider / Caster / Berserker / Assassin. Only use Servants that have appeared in official Type Moon works. And here’s the structure I would like you to use.
Servant Name:
Servant Class:
Master:
And a brief summary of what this partnership would entail.
