Iran: They brought a paramilitary man to instill fear at a girls' school and deter girls from protesting, but it epically backfired
Iran - Fear no more: For days now the revolt against the Iranian regime, has spread to the universities and schools, following the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurd, that died on 16 September 2022 after three days in a coma, after her violent arrest by the notorious "morality police" for allegedly infringing hijab rules amid Iranian crackdown on women’s dress.
According to @1500tasvir on Twitter, this is the moment of defiance against the regime's rule, at a girls' school, where a Basij (militia force charged with the task of internal security and suppression of anti-government demonstrations) has been called by the school's officials to instil fear and discourage the pupils from protesting. The girls welcomed the speaker by taking off their headscarves and chanting "get lost, Basiji".

Verses about Hijab mentioned in the Quran:
“Say to the believing men that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts; that is purer for them; surely Allah is Aware of what they do.” (24:30)
“And say to the believing women that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts and do not display their ornaments except what appears thereof, and let them wear their head-coverings (khumur) over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments except to their husbands or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or those whom their right hands possess, or the male servants not having need (of women), or the children who have not attained knowledge of what is hidden of women; and let them not strike their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may be known; and turn to Allah all of you, O believers! so that you may be successful.” (24:31)
“O Prophet! say to your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers that they let down upon them their over-garments (jalabib); this will be more proper, that they may be known, and thus they will not be given trouble; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” (33:59)

Abayas or street style?
Hmmm... tough question. I love a good abaya, but I usually wear those to the masjid only. I'm more street style anywhere else. My go-to outfit is a cute flowy top and a maxi skirt, or a top and some loose pants when I go to fencing class.
Tysm for the ask! ❤

Hijab
The word hijab is a general term for modest Muslim dress and applies to scarves that cover the hair and neck. This type of scarf is the head covering worn by some Moroccan women.

carry me, sweet sister
with shawls and scarves abound
take me to the promised place
where my secrets are my crown
my hands are fierce and dainty
my skirt will touch the ground
I’ll let you see no part of me
except for bows and arrows
and this family I’ve found
oh, modest maiden, how do you fare as a woman
I fare as all the rest do,
for with this lifestyle, I’m smitten

How to Wear a Hijab Correctly
Tumblr media
There are several different ways to wear hijabs. There are three main styles: the everyday wrap, the trendy wrap, and the turban. The scarf is either wrapped loosely or tightly around the face. The scarf can be tied in different ways depending on your preference, and you can use two pins to secure it.
Everyday Wrap
The first step to wearing a hijab correctly is knowing where to tie the scarf. Usually, the hijab has a long side and a short side. To tie it correctly, wrap the long side of the scarf around your head, allowing the shorter side to hang down over the shoulder. You may use two pins to secure the scarf to your head.
Another important step to learning how to wear a hijab correctly is knowing the shape of your face. If you have a large face, you may find it difficult to tie the scarf properly. To get a more flattering look, wrap the cotton scarf behind your ears and at the sides near your cheeks. This way, it will cover your face from both sides and make your face appear smaller. Another good option is to use a long rectangular scarf and wrap it once around your head.
Another important tip to remember when wearing a hijab correctly is to tuck the extra material under it. It will help hold the hijab in place and prevent it from shifting around.
Trendsetter
The first step to wearing a hijab correctly is to frame the face with the scarf. Fold the long side over the face and pull the shorter side over the shoulder. Once wrapped around the face, tie the shorter side at the nape of the neck and secure it behind the neck. You can tuck the tail of the hijab behind the head to secure it.
You can also tie the ends of the scarf to create a loose draping effect. You can either tie the short ends or the long ends, depending on your preference. The long end of the scarf can be tossed over the shoulder, while the loose ends can be tied to create a loose bow or left at the side.
The second step in wearing a hijab properly is to make sure that you have a piece of under scarf. This is important for keeping your hijab in place. Make sure that the under scarf is made of non-slip material. Once you have your underscarf, drape the hijab by allowing equal amounts of fabric to hang on each side of the head. Next, tuck the extra fabric underneath the hijab.
Chador
A hijab is a scarf that you wrap around your head. Its length depends on the style you are wearing. A long hijab will drape and cover the head more than a short one. A short hijab will drape loosely around the face and will add volume and texture. You can secure the hijab with two pins.
The front strands of your hijab provide extra coverage and a seamless look. They can be tossed over your shoulder or tied around your face to frame your face. You can also wear your hijab with the front strands tucked in. The front strands should be longer than the back, and you can wear them over your head or on one shoulder. Once tied, a hijab can be worn casually and easily with a necklace or brooches.
When choosing a hijab, it is important to choose the right style for your face. For example, a round face may look best with the Turkish or Kuwaiti style. If you have a square face, you might want to choose a head cap. You can also wear chunky earrings if you are comfortable with dangling. This style is most suitable for functions and get-togethers. Be sure to choose a style that looks good on you and complements your outfit.
Turban style
If you are wearing a hijab in a turban style, there are a few tips to follow. First of all, you should fold your scarf into a triangle. This will help you to cover your forehead area. Now, fold the other side over and wrap it around your entire head. Use bobby pins to secure any loose ends.
Next, wrap the shorter end of your hijab around your head and tie it in a large knot. You can tie this knot at the back of your head or at the front of your head. This will give your hijab volume and texture. After you've tied the knot, you can wrap the longer side over your head and tie it in a bun.
The most popular way to wear a hijab is in a turban style. Typically, this is done with one end in front and the other in the back. The two ends should be equal, although you can make one end larger if you want to highlight curves or facial features.

guys. guys please listen. i am gently cupping your face as i say this.
the scarf is not "hijab". hijab is not a headscarf. hijab is modesty. it means to cover. the hijab is to cover your body. not just women wear hijab. men have their own hijab too. hijab is the concept of modesty, it does not just refer to a random scarf on your head.
do not call a headscarf a "hijab" for non muslim women who wear them, especially if they are not living a modest lifestyle. hijab is for every person who is muslim, whether it's for a man or a woman or whatever else. it does not refer to the scarf. the scarf is just a small part of what "hijab" is. hijab a concept, not an object.
