You can not use “all the characters are in hell” as an excuse for Vivziepop’s piss poor character design when purple is the colour for pride. Purple = pride, red = wrath, gluttony = orange, greed = green, lust = blue, envy = green, and sloth = light blue. This is all easy to look up, it’s not like I summoned an ancient demon only able to be spoken to by gay gingers.

The Amazing Digital Circus Episode 2 Review

Warning: This post contains spoilers for the second episode of The Amazing Digital Circus. If you haven't seen the episode, please skip this post and watch the episode before reading this post.

I didn't find out that TADC had another episode out until Saturday night while I was preparing for my morning shift at work. I decided to watch the new episode before bed and wasn't disappointed at what I watched.

The episode starts with Pomni having a nightmare before Ragatha woke her up. Poor girl can't catch a break after what she went through in the first episode.

And now, for the main event of the episode. Caine assigned the crew to a mission to return the maple syrup that was stolen for a candy kingdom by a small group of gummy gator bandits. I also got some nostalgia feels for the episode as I grew up watching Adventure Time, and the candy themed kingdom reminded me of the Candy Kingdom from Adventure Time.

The chase scene was extremely hilarious, and I felt bad that poor Pomni had to try to keep the bandits from going away. If only Jax actually did something instead of antagonizing her. Gotta say that Jax is one lovable prick.

It made me sad that after Pomni and Gummigoo had their little bonding moment, Caine was like, "nope" and Thanos'd Gummigoo from entering the circus. But after that episode, I wonder what Gooseworx has planned for Caine. Will he end up being the big bad guy in the show? His role is to be some sort of ringleader, after all. I'm looking forward to the future episodes to come.

To end my thoughts about the new episode, I did like that the ending shows Pomni slowly starting to get comfortable with the others. I know Gooseworx said that she doesn't plan on shipping the characters, but maybe she might reconsider it with Pomni and Ragatha. But either or is fine. Gooseworx has the right to do whatever she wants with the show.

I've also mentioned at the very beginning of the post that I will add some critical commentary about Vivziepop. So I might as well address everything now.

I believe I've said this in my post about my thoughts on the first episode about The Amazing Digital Circus, which is that Gooseworx doesn't rely heavily on excess amount of swearing to make her content funny. I still got a good laugh out of watching the new episode. I also like how Gooseworx hired indie voice actors for the show, and it shows that you don't need voice actors who have been in the industry for years to get people to consume your work. Also, last time I checked, the new episode got over 30 million views on YouTube.

Another thing is that I really like how the characters are designed. I'm curious if there is any significance for the roles the TADC crew will play during the future of the show. For example, Pomni is in a Jester outfit, and I'm curious how it will affect her role in the show. And it's obvious that Caine, being the ringleader of the crew, by having him wear a suit and top hat to show that. Meanwhile, Vivziepop seems to rehash similar character designs for the rest of her characters, which, in my opinion, makes her characters look dull looking. Viv has the potential to create really well designed characters as shown with her past work. And I wish she could improve that in the future.

Lastly, the writing. I know The Amazing Digital Circus only has two episodes, but the writing is far better than Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss combined. The Amazing Digital Circus stays consistent to the plot by showing the crew going to various parts of the universe they're in to complete their missions. I will admit that the plot of Hazbin Hotel is somewhat consistent as it shows Charlie trying to redeem sinners on top of the threat of Heaven. My biggest concern with Hazbin is that whenever Season two comes around, I'm worried that Vivziepop will sideline Charlie's mission to redeem sinners and help maintain the population of hell to either filler episodes or deter the main plot by focusing heavily on heaven or things that are not significant to the plot of Hazbin Hotel.

And then there's Helluva Boss. The show was promoted being about a group of imp mercenaries doing kill jobs. It wasn't until Viv decided it would be a "brilliant" to show that the main plot aside to focus on Stolas and Blitzo's "relationship" (even though I don't consider that a relationship due to how predatory Stolas is towards Blitz and something similar to Angel Dust and Valentino).

To close this post, I would like to say that The Amazing Digital Circus is what both Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss could be, despite TADC only having two episodes. If Vivziepop hired indie voice actors, worked more on her character designs, rethink how she writes both Hazbin and Helluva Boss, and works on giving her female characters the character development they deserve, then maybe I'll rewatch them in the future. However, the problem is that Viv doesn't really handle criticism well and relies on her fans to protect her. She's a grown woman, and she doesn't need other people to fight her own battles. If she can't handle that as a content creator, then maybe she should either step down from her position as the lead of HH and HB or consider taking a hiatus and have her work on herself.

But anyways, that's was I gotta say. The second episode of TADC was a fun watch, and I'm looking forward to what Gooseworx has in store for her viewers.

Ars goetia in helluva boss is like if the coven system of toh were just there to make only Hunter suffer and no one else in that other toh characters are doing fine and it’s just Hunter being affected by the coven system only

The thing about the coven system is that it works because it's organically woven into TOH's world-building. It shows Belos restricting a majority of the boiling isle's magic so he can ensure that they can't be powerful enough to rebel against him, and he only gives the EC label (the coven where you can practice all kinds of magic) to the ones he KNOWS are going to obey him. The coven system is also a part of Belos' plan to wipe out witches on the boiling isles at the day of unity by stamping sigils onto the witches, restricting their magic. And Belos uses propaganda to sell the covens to the witches so he can make them want to join them, perfecting aligning with his plan. It's all brilliantly woven into the show's story and feels completely organic.

The coven system works because it has a real purpose within the show's world and story, it's clear that they planned this whole thing from the start because the twist of what the coven system is actually made for is organic and fits so well. I could talk about for ages why I love TOH's world-building (in fact I'm planning on making a post analyzing it soon), but the show's world-building has so much thought and care put into it.

Compare that to HH/HB, where the world-building is HEAVILY flawed on every level (and I talked about a majority of those flaws here). Compared to the covens, the Ars Goetia have no organic purpose within the show's universe, seriously, they don't do ANYTHING and just kind of exist. They are only there just so the Stolitz conflict can happen. That's it. They contribute nothing to Hellaverse's world and removing them changes nothing about hell as a society. They don't feel like an organic part of hell's society.

The only purpose they serve is so Stolas' arc and Stolitz can happen, making both of those plotlines fundamentally broken to their core.

Ok, i have something to say.

As long as i've been a fan of hazbin hotel, i've been open to see the critisism towards the show.

Most of the concerns I wholeheartedly agree with, but that's because I want the show to be good. But recently, I found myself baffled towards the Hazbin Hotel's criticality on a subject, not because I'm against it, but because it is not talked about enough or even brushed off in the great scheme of flaws the show has.

A plothole that nobody has ever adressed was regarding the premise of the sixth episode, that is ¿WHY IN THE FUCK, CHARLIE HAD NO FUCKING DOUBT OR CONCERN THAT VAGGIE WAS ABLE TO WALK THROUGH THE PORTAL TOWARDS HEAVEN?

Taking in count that it's implied that she thinks her own girlfriend is a sinner, an species of demon that has one particular characteristic that is that they are UNABLE to abandon the pride ring.

¿How could the writers ignore one of the biggest pieces of lore the show has (even though this piece of lore should be analized better to make sense) in one of the most important episodes of the season? ¿Just to cause a conflict between Vaggie and Charlie that ended up fixed in the next episode? What the hell.

I be honest with you guys, I really don't like Alastor. Don't get me wrong, the concept of a murderous radio host from the 1930s sounds cool as hell, but the way Viv handles him wasn't great. For starters, his old design sucks. It was too red, and his haircut was so ugly, so what did Viv do to change it? Well, nothing all she did was give him white lines on his lapel and call it a day. It honestly looks worse, and don't get started on the whole vodou controversy and how stans harassed black people who callout Viv's misuse of vodou.

On the topic of the Seven Deadly Sins being color coded, something I think would be cool is the character having those colors to represent their sins.

Angel Dust or Nifty (or probably even both) being blue makes sense. Angel Dust could have dark blues to resemble how despite being a sex worker, he hates it because of Valentino’s abuse. While Nifty could have light blues to showcase that she’s actually extremely boy crazy and lustful (and unlike Angel Dust she has no regrets.)

Valkryie (I refuse to call her the name Vivziepop gave her) and Alastor could be red to resemble how wrathful they can be. Although Alastor could have subtle shades of purple to represent his Pride.

On the topic of purple, Lucifer and Charlie should’ve worn purple. It would make them stand out and it would make sense since their literally the main royalty in the Pride Ring + purple is a regal color in general.

Husk’s wings could be orange to represent his Gluttony. He's a bar tender who uses alcohol as a escape, so he definitely overindulges in it.

But to be fair, this requires thinking and research, which apparently Viv is allergic to.

Apologies if this was pretty long, it’s just disappointing how much wasted potential HH/HB have

the colour theory in Hazbin Hotel and Helluva boss are lacking to say the least.

I think Angel could have red/pink with blue clothes because he was part of a mob (maybe he was a sex worker in his life time? Never confirmed or denied) to show how his sex worker persona is only that, a persona.

Niffty would also look much better is she was blue to be honest. Blue Niffty truther.

And Alastor and V (that’s what I’m calling her now) would make much more sense to red and purple, they both have red in their design (well Alastor is hot pink actually) but close enough to red. But why they don’t have accent colours OTHER than red, white, and yellow baffles me.

I’m assuming Husk went to hell for gluttony so I think him being a calico looking cat would make much more sense thematically.

Lucifer being red is also so fucking funny, WHY RED? WHY? He doesn’t even look good. He could be purple and white, that would make sense. White means purity which would be a nod to his past in heaven and purple means pride. Charlie just being red, white, yellow, and black is also weird. Her and Lucifer being more like a goat would make much more sense to them.

There are so many interesting possibilities in how Vivziepop represented her characters but instead they’re all red? In greed it’s slightly better but she still just makes everything one colour in a ring, it’s not even colour coordinated it’s just inaccessible. Seriously, it’s so hard for me to look at because I’m red green colour blind. Plus Vivziepop went to art school. She should know this.

Question, what vaggie wasn't the only angel to fall? What if in hazbin hotel there were other angels fallen because they made a mistake?

One mistake is all it takes to fall out of grace of heaven.

Yeah I find it kind of weird that we haven't seen any other kind of fallen angels in the show either.

The Cherubs were an example where one mistake of accidentally killing a human and they were cast out of Heaven. So wouldn't it also make sense for there to be a category of fallen angels in Hell?

Since Vaggie is as interesting as plain bread, I hope to see some more in Season 2 or maybe if the theories are true about Emily falling at some point.

You ever just know someone is so horrid and manipulative and assume you can't dislike them further, but then you do, and you're just angered and annoyed that someone this repugnant thinks their hot shit for being a controlling spoiled little brat? Yeah, that's me rn.

The people who volunteered to work on the pilot, who gave it their all and genuinely loved the characters, the cast, the Fandom, and the creator all at one point...treated in such a way. One member, seemingly threatened by Viv, could not participate or take any sort of part in this love letter, or else his job as Striker will be on the line is some of the most manipulative and controlling things Viv has consistently done. But fans will sit here and act like this is normal. It's not normal. Why would his job be on the line for participating in a lovely goodbye? Nothing about this is normal, nor should it be normal. Nothing about any of this is good. It's extremely divisive and horrid.

And her seemingly seemingly cutting ties, ignoring, or not inviting the cast that helped bring the pilot to life to see the opening for the show they've waited so long to become a full on show, and who have helped promote it for years...

The very thought of even REPLACING EVERYONE wouldn't be on my mind (ofc unless there comes complications or a problematic situation or revelation occurs)

Not after all the beautiful work and passion they put into everything.

I couldn't imagine doing this to any group of friends who have been so kind, loyal, and loving towards me and my works. I couldn't imagine not inviting those who helped me get this far to the premiere of the show they helped build along with me. I can't imagine dumping them all after years of commitment to MY ideas nor can I imagine failing to promote and uplift their works after they have done so with mine.

This is low. This is very low. Idc what excuse you throw. This behavior on Vivziepop's part is ludicrous.
