GRANDPA EVIL WIZARD VOLDEMORT!

With gaunt cheeks and sharp features of his face, he reminded Harry of those classy older, grey-haired men in 60s movies. His grey hair was tidy, and his robe fit him like a cloak did a king, painting a royal picture. Harry was starkly reminded of Marvolo Gaunt, except Voldemort looked much better than his grandfather. Harry wondered if Ceasar looked like this. Noticing the sound of her footsteps (or perhaps feeling her presence) he turned to her. There was a sharpness to his bloodshot eyes and red irises. He looked regal, with the morning light streaking through the windows and illuminating his figure. There were lines of age around his mouth, and there was a cruelty in his sharp face. An evil. “Harry,” he said softly, his silken voice travelling like the soft hiss of a snake over Harry’s spine.

I didn't think it was ever going to go anywhere!! I'm so glad that I have a little group of people who seem to love my HC for the Gaunts 🐍💚

I've had a few comments here and there from people questioning it, because people get WAY too deep into the canonical side of things, and just cannot for some reason accept HC in their brains, and thats fine lol..I'm just out here creating a storyline and having fun with it💚

Tom wishes he could take all the credit for his swift victory during the battle of Hogwarts and it angers him a great deal that he still has no idea who helped him secure his horcruxes all those years ago.

- Harry Potter disappeared sometime during the Battle of Hogwarts and it was still a complete mystery. Tom tried looking for him but to no avail. “Potter?!” Draco suddenly exclaimed along with several others though he was by far the loudest.

“Harry?” Granger whispered.

The boy jumped from the sudden increase in noise and turned wide eyes onto Hermione, “Do you know my papa?” He seemed surprised. Hermione choked back a sob and covered her mouth as she stared at the young boy.

What motivates Voldemort?

I do not think Voldemort actually cares about wizarding supremacy over Muggles and Muggle-borns. I believe he only adopted the "wizards first" line in order to persuade violent, racist wizards to support him. This is not to say he likes Muggles. Definitely not. But I suspect his true feelings toward them range from mere "dislike" to possibly even "indifference", because the only thing Voldemort truly cares about is himself. All he really desires is to be the most powerful person in the world.

Recently, I watched this YouTube video, which contemplated why the most hated character in the Harry Potter series tends to be Umbridge, rather than Voldemort. How does a schoolteacher inspire more rage and loathing than the Dark Lord? This video basically concluded it’s because “one death is a tragedy and a million is a statistic”. Umbridge's attacks feel more personal. In addition, it was suggested that Voldemort’s anti-Muggle ideology needed to be fleshed out more, because as it stands, we actually don’t learn much about why he wants to form a society where pure blood reigns supreme.

But that's exactly it. The lack of focus on that goal makes me think he doesn't really believe in it.

Half-Blood Prince shows us several scenes from Voldemort’s backstory. Notably, these are very personal moments. We see 11-year-old Tom Riddle discovering he is a wizard, confirming his belief that he is special. We see teenage Voldemort asking Professor Slughorn about Horcruxes. We see a young adult Voldemort searching for unique items to use as Horcruxes. These scenes are all about Voldemort's personality, his selfishness, his arrogance, his quest to become immortal. They remain laser-focused on Voldemort’s personal life - and they don’t pay attention to what he thinks about the wider wizarding world.

He’s not opposed to creating a society where Muggles and Muggle-borns are subjugated. He may even consider it a nice bonus. But I don’t think he craves this world nearly as much as his Death Eaters do. As I said, I think Voldemort exaggerated how much he actually cares about blood status, just to gain the support of prejudiced wizards who do care about it a lot.

One might also consider Salazar Slytherin (who hated Muggle-born students so much that he planted a monster in Hogwarts with the intention to purge them). In addition to attracting Death Eaters, perhaps Voldemort wanted to imitate his ancestor. But I doubt it. Voldemort was so obsessed with his own uniqueness that I doubt he’d want to follow in the footsteps of anybody, even Slytherin. And on that subject - if Voldemort was actually concerned about magical ancestry that much, wouldn’t he have spent more time bragging about his connection to Slytherin? His grandpa, Marvolo Gaunt, couldn’t get through a conversation without mentioning his prestigious parentage. Voldemort, however, is all about “I, Lord Voldemort, am the one who has pushed the boundaries of magic more than anyone else”.

In Deathly Hallows, while Death Eaters are busy taking over the Ministry and hunting Muggle-borns, Voldemort concentrates on two things: Harry and the Elder Wand. Voldemort is intent on removing the greatest threat to himself, and obtaining the ultimate weapon. As always, his own position and power take priority over all else. It probably doesn’t even matter to him what the world is like, as long as he is the supreme and immortal ruler.

Rereading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: Chapter Four - Horace Slughorn

IM FINALLY BACK IN DA USA~ so like, maybe ill actually post regularly now? anyways lets go meet everyones favorite racist grandpa!!!!!

- awk this is the first time harry and dumbledore have bro’d out alone since harry fucked up his office. but albus is too much of an OG to make harry feel like a lil shit about it

- no matter how cool it is, apparating still scares the SHIT out of me

He had pointed with his injured hand. “Professor, what happened to your-?” “I have no time to explain now,” said Dumbledore. “It is a thrilling tale, I wish to do it justice.”

*rolls eyes out of my head at dumbledores annoying vagueness*

- PLEASE no more info about the inferi. the less i know THE BETTER

- horace is both literally and figuratively a LAY-Z BOI

“There was no need to stick the wand in that hard,”

no commentary needed.

- slughorn is described as looking away from harry, as if ‘trying to resist temptation’ and just EW.

“I think you, Horace, would have known better than to stride into the forest and call a horde of angry centaurs ‘filthy half-breeds’.” “That’s what she did, did she?” said Slughorn. “Idiotic woman. Never liked her.” Harry chuckled and both Dumbledore and Slughorn looked round at him. “Sorry,” Harry said hastily. “It’s just - I didn’t like her either.”

“You look very like your father.” “Yeah, I’ve been told,” said Harry. “Except for your eyes. You’ve got-” “My mother’s eyes, yeah.” Harry had heard it so often he found it a bit wearing.

5 books later, i find it a bit wearing too

“Ever heard of Sirius Black? You must have done - been in the papers for the last couple of years - died a few weeks ago -” It was as though an invisible hand had twisted Harry’s intestines and held them tight.

FUCK i wasnt prepared for that

“You mustn’t think I’m prejudiced!” he said. “No, no, no! Haven’t I just said your mother was one of my all-time favorite students?”

‘i’m not racist! i have a black friend!!!’

- dumbledore just finessed slughorn so good

- the whole ‘collecting’ talented or useful people thing is creepy as hell but you gotta admit, pretty dang smart too

“It was cruel,” said Dumbledore softly, “that you and Sirius had such a short time together. A brutal ending to what should have been a long and happy relationship.” Harry nodded, his eyes fixed resolutely on the spider now climbing Dumbledore’s hat. He could tell that Dumbledore understood, that he might even suspect that until his letter arrived, Harry had spent nearly all his time at the Dursley’s lying on his bed, refusing meals, and staring at the misted window, full of the chill emptiness that he had come to associate with dementors. “It’s just hard,” Harry said finally, in a low voice. “to realize he won’t write to me again.”
