Finished "The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires" by Grady Hendrix today!! Rating: ☆☆☆☆ I've said it before but I love Hendrix's writing style. It just flows in my head. I enjoy his characters and overall storytelling. Only thing I'm not 100% in love with I'd say are the endings. But I'm finding his newer stories have a more satisfying ending. 📚 #HowToSellAHauntedHouse 👀 The first word that came to mind as soon as I finished this book was tender. Probably not what you'd expect based on the title, genre, and author, but that's genuinely how I felt. I also really enjoyed the Easter eggs from TSBCGTSV. @gradyhendrix did a phenomenal job with the prose. The story he wove was deep, dark, intricate, and beautiful. I was not expecting the subject of the haunting (no spoilers) and I was not expecting to be as moved as I was by the end of the novel. Louise and Mark attempt to sell their deceased parents house but little do they know how difficult it will be. Sibling rivalry, family trauma, kids toys, and real estate, what else would you want in a story? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🗣️ "Mothering, manipulating—sometimes there wasn’t a difference. I’ve been on the road A LOT in the last couple of months, so I finally got to finish listening to this. I know there are some people who dislike this book, but I enjoyed it. Un libro en el que deseas que las cosas cambien, y que tenía todo para enamorarme, pero se ha quedado a medias. Y es que la batalla final contra el mal que habita en la ciudad, me ha sabido a poco. Pero que os recomiendo si os gustan los libros con misterio, vampiros y malas sensaciones en un ambiente siniestro en ocasiones, y muy descriptivo. New Year, new books for 2023. The books I read in January were "The New Year's Party" by R.L. Stine @rl_stine1, "How To Sell a Haunted House" by Grady Hendrix @gradyhendrix, and "The Cabin at the End of the World" by Paul Tremblay. Out of these three books "How To Sell a Haunted House" was my favorite and already a top contender for my favorite book of the year.
