My team created Hackjob, a game where you work at a cybersecurity company being attacked by clowns hackers. Answer as many emails as possible to keep your decrepit computer from overloading, and don't be fooled by spam!

Gisula (she/her) 🌒 Lead Composer 🌘

Gisula is a Taiwanese-American composer, instrumentalist, and music producer based in NY. Originally an award-winning classically-trained pianist and hip hop producer, her music has expanded through genres to add life and emotion to various media.

She created the music of Midautumn to be a fusion of eastern instruments and modern beats. The soundtrack uses instruments from all over west, south, southeast, and east Asia to give it a distinct Asian diaspora sound. You can listen to more of her work over on her website & follow her @gisula

Sick Video Game Music (Popular and Obscure)

I’ve created a YouTube playlist with tons of fantastic video game music and chiptunes and it gets updated pretty frequently! (aka when I come across some good VGM)! There’s official music, covers, chiptune artists, orchestral, rock, so on and so on. I’ve been on a big retro PC and ’90s arcade kick, so there’s a lot of PC-98, X68000, and CPS-2 music on there.

There's also a great podcast on Spotify called VGMporium. That's a great way to find obscure chiptunes!

2nd post here, so lets go for it! 

This the Autumn Day theme for a game called Mangato: Life In Taiyokawa that I’m writing the music for. 

There are a few things I really tried to hit with this track. The main emotion to me is “nostalgia” which is why I chose acoustic guitar as the main melody instrument. You’ll also notice quite a lot modal mixture here, but I think its handled smoothly for the most part. Something about mid-range trumpet also just fit that emotion in a way I can’t quite describe. 

There are strings here also, but they’re really subdued and even mixed a bit oddly (really old sounding). If you listen closely you can also hear me playing what are called “harp harmonics” on guitar near the end, a technique where you finger the harmonic with your right hand AND pick it with the same hand. I think it added some sort of nostalgic quality too. One other thing I did with guitar was use a slide to sort of “emulate” birds flying overhead in the intro (sort of like birds flying South for Winter). I’m not sure if that intention is heard, but its there (listen on the left side). 

Lastly one of my favorite things is the 1 bar of 5/4 around 1:20 in the drums. I heard that in a Masayoshi Takanaka track once and just loved it. I think it works so well to telegraph the change at 1:23. 

Anyways I hope you like this track! Listening back now, I kind of want to mix the strings in a more natural way haha.

Underrated trait?? When the players describe something they want to do or what their characters are thinking or feeling or ask for a specific moment to occur (dice gods permitting) and Aabria thinks for a moment and just softling, lovingly, fondly says "...yeah" and then goes on to produce the most magnificent description known to mankind.
