"Nope. No. Get out."
Also, can someone tell me how to make your GIFs look like the works of art that I've seen on this site?

Imagine If You Will... (Zookeeper, Lars Pinfield x gn!Reader)
Done with your cleaning and other tasks for the day, the only thing left was feeding the ghosts their dinner... Lars is there and ready to help, help keep you company that is.
W.C: ~1.2k
Warning: Emetophobia TW, slime and such mention
Standing tall for what must have been the first time today, your bones were creaking like crazy. Food, if you could call it that, all prepared you were eager round out your day on a good note, so with various buckets and bottles hanging from your arms you started off towards the containment units.
Passing through the facility you nodded towards those you passed, giving quick hellos to those you knew well. The lab was the last obstacle on your short trip, often chock full of tech and machinery, all of which didn't lend themselves to being covered in ghost chow. Weaving and darting through the space your focus remained on the space a head of you, eyes trailing across the tiles like they themselves were a path created just for you.
Even more small greetings flew past your ears, calls of your name and shouted questions about your work from your colleagues, sparing only small waves in response you continued on. You only paused when you reached the other side of the busy space, finding yourself at the entryway as you studied the ever-extending hall of cells ahead of you. You stepped towards the closest of the doors, waiting for the light above to turn green as you swiped your key card, before ducking inside swiftly.
Muncher was significantly more excited now than he'd been earlier when you'd been cleaning his little room, even after you'd snuck him a little between-second-brunch-and-early-lunch snack (seventeen staplers).
'I feel like you only like me cause I feed you' The blue metal muncher whimpered like an impatient puppy at your feet, all but trembling as you teased him. Fixing him with a narrowed look you feigned an extended moment of consideration before you pushed his bucket over to him with your foot, its contents clattering as it shifted, it was cacophonous; like a hundred pairs of car keys... because it was around a hundred pairs of car keys.
He dove for the meal and must have been though a third of the tub already before you managed the two steps it took to get out the door. Kicking it shut softly, you continued on the to next unit, yet as you reached for your key card a voice pulled you from the task,
'How are they today Zookeeper?' Dr. Lars Pinfield had coined the nickname for you barely a week into your work at the facility and much to your chagrin it had stuck.
Well, that wasn't exactly true... initially it had been a little frustrating, but soon enough after many an awkward silence in the lift or the empty lab, you noticed that the scientist seemed to recede into silence if he didn't have some lighthearted animal-based jibe for you.
So, you'd resolved, the name wasn't too bad, although it being printed on your jumpsuit last April fools wasn't the best, especially since you only got the one.
'Hey, I'm Gary Grooberson! Great to meet ya...' His eyes flickered to your nametag, 'Dr Zookeeper'
Lars' all to familiar snickering was the only thing that clued poor Gary in, yet that was only after a few too many instances of mistaken identity had come and gone with various other ghostbusters.
'They're hungry... as always. Your friend here...' You tapped the glass to the possessor's cell, 'Is seemingly excited to control some toast... or eat it? Whatever he does that means it ends up crumbs like the crackers last week.' You flickered your eyes towards Lars, curious as to what had his attention. When you noted the lamp pressed against the glass where his palm rested, surrounded by a red tinge, you hurried to open the door a crack, flinging the toast into the space like a frisbee and slamming the door shut before the ghoul had the chance to shift it's focus.
Lars turned to you then, as the lamp fell limp and the toast began flitting around the space in a streak of red.
'Some para-zoologist you are.' his tone was light, the confusion of your shared work with the paranormal was frequently the topic of conversation between the pair of you, a comfortable common ground. That, however, didn't mean that you'd miss the chance to tease him back,
'Think you could do better Pinfield? Why don't you take my next client.' You jutted your chin towards the cell behind him, a dark smirk kindling upon your lips, 'I think you two have been acquainted?'
Think, was of course the wrong word... there was no world in which the cherished image of a brooding and blushing Lars trudging his way through the halls, drenched in slime would ever leave your mind.
If his back was not already against the opposing cell as he turned on the spot, you were sure he would have receded. The indifferent look painted on his face almost succeeded and if it weren't for the slight narrowing of his eyes as he looked down his nose at the creature, you may have been convinced.
'No, I think I'll let you handle that little pest... you are the expert after all...' Lars stayed in place as you settled the other buckets down outside the door, pulling a baby bottle from where it was tucked under your arm. The bottle itself was about double the size of the little puker, the kind you'd give a baby elephant, it you really were a zookeeper, and even that failed to satiate the pint sized ghost some days.
Teasingly quirking your head to the side with a pout, you glanced back at the scientist before moving your key card to the door, as if checking he would be okay. He tilted his head to mirror your own, as his face scrunched up at your patronizing demenouer, his mouth pulling back into a sarcastic smile as he nodded before rolling and averting his eyes back to the enclosure, his tongue finding the inside of his cheek.
Scooping the tiny ghoul up in your arms you stepped towards the glass, catching Lars' attention as you held the bottle for the little creature as he drank. Shrugging, you called through the glass, 'See, he's not so bad... he's just a hungry little guy, aren't you?' Looking down at the ghost in your arms you shake your head a little as you spoke as if speaking to a baby. 'You're not evil are you? Dr. Pinfield is just being a big old meanie isn't he?'
'Just don't stick around after when he's done drinking,' At his shout you met Lars' eyes through the glass once again, his lips had stretched into a small smile, and his eyes were jovial... no doubt picturing you covered in slime in a way similar to how he'd once found himself.
'I wouldn't worry about that. You'd never vomit on me would you Pukey, we are much too good friends.' As if on que the entity in your arms spat up a little, a cue which you took to mean a resolute; Nope. So within seconds you'd settled him down on the ground and slipped out of the cell, displeased with he gloating that was imminent front the man in front of you.
Resigning yourself to it nonetheless, you picked up the rest of your buckets and moved to the next cell. All the while Lars stayed perched against the wall, an amused sparkle now flickering in his eyes.
'You know... We could always get him one of those masks...'
one of those masks

Phoebe Spengler headcanons post-Frozen Empire
The soul-separation experiment had some weird side effects that only became apparent later on. Sometimes Phoebe felt like her soul was misaligned with her physical body, or she'd have out-of-body experiences in her sleep. This combined with her already lacking coordination made things difficult and frustrating for her. Sometimes she'd miss objects she tried to grab hold of.
To help correct this, Callie suggested some physical therapy like yoga sessions. Janine offered to take her to play racquetball. Winston even suggested she take up martial arts or boxing. Phoebe was reluctant to all of this, but eventually gave them all a try. The whole family ended up doing yoga sessions together and it was a nice way to bond, sometimes Phoebe would go to her room to meditate by herself though. Racquetball and Boxing were fun, and she did gain some self-defense skills, but yoga was the one practice that really stuck.
Phoebe had some sessions with Venkman to make sure her soul, and her mind, were in the right place. (she was a little annoyed by some of his methods, especially the ones involving shocks, but was thankful for the help.) He also recommended her a good therapist to help with any non-supernatural problems she had.
It took a little while, but Phoebe did continue to call Gary "Dad" and spent more time with him. He'd earned the title.
Sometimes Phoebe had nightmares about being controlled by Garraka again. One night she went to sleep with her parents in their bed because of this. They were able to comfort her. Despite how non-nonchalant they act about their own possessions, it effected them negatively too. It's something they understand and relate to and they were able to console her.
Ray lent her a few books, salt lamps, and stuffed animals for her room. They helped him get through some rough times, so he figured they'd help her too
Phoebe worked with Lars to make sure the soul-extraction device would have stronger security measures. What she did to herself will never happen to anyone else. It's not worth the risk.
She definitely tried to spend more time with Podcast, Trevor, and Lucky after the big freeze. She felt guilty for going off on her own and not confiding in her team more. Podcast was a little hurt that she kept Melody a secret, but they talked some more and were able to reconnect. Trevor was just concerned for her mental health and wanted his little sister safe. Lucky offered all the support and advice they could. In the end, the four of them are still the Summerville Squad, not matter where they are.
Cold weather bothers her more than it did before, I think it's safe to say everyone in New York has some newfound discomfort around wintertime & freak storms. The snazzy new red jackets help a little.
She keeps Melody's matchbox in a special place in her room, in a hidden box. She also adds other mementos from other ghosts that she helps peacefully cross over. Partially for recording research but also for sentimental reasons. The matchbox remains at the top since it was her first.
She's unsure what her relationship to Melody was, exactly. Whether it was romantic, platonic, or something else. She is upset that she was betrayed, but glad they were able to reconcile and help each other in the end. It takes her a long time before she's able to move on and try having a close relationship like that again with anyone else. In the meantime she focuses on her education, her friends, and her family.

Imagine If You Will...
In the aftermath of Garraka Lars makes his way back to the lab... You are just a little amused at the state he's in.
One-Liner: #7 from @deity-prompts' list here
Warnings: mentions of sticky, tacky slimy and moist/wet stuff
The door felt heavier than usual as Lars tugged it open, it was also substantially stickier... but that probably wasn't the door's fault. Lars shrugged off his red coat and turned it inside out in an effort to free himself of the wetness that refused to leave his outfit, and as he tied the arms around his waist a dribble of slimy... whatever... dripped from inside the cuffs to the tiles below him.
Walking through the halls, the sound of globs and droplets splattering to the floor was accompanied by the squelching of his boots with every step he took. Needless to say you heard him coming.
Most of your coworkers and the other scientists had gone to the firehouse to celebrate Ghost Corps being brought back, so the facility was all but silent. Your thoughts were torn from the document you were reviewing by his kerfuffle of an entrance and the strange sounds that were only growing louder. Peering out the door to your office you caught sight of Lars...
His hair was splayed in points in every which way, whatever he was coated in acting like some interdimensional hair gel. His Coat was a darkened red and shone with slime, Nevertheless the red made his eyes glow even more than you swore they always did. Irrelevant? perhaps, but you could never seem to stop yourself from noticing them.
Unable to hide your chuckle at his wet cat demeanor, you stepped back, opening the door wide and waiting for him to round the corner. As he trudged over the threshold, you made quick work of laying a towel across your spare chair before settling back into your own.
"Well... I don't think what you're wearing in suitable for the workplace." He scoffed, but the tug of a smile at his lips gave him away.
His tone was light as he whined "I save the world and that's the thanks I get?" Folding his jacket over the back of the chair, he shed the top half of his jumpsuit, tying it around his waist as he had the coat, before settling into the chair.
Tugging open one of the draws by your side you grabbed a spare piece of merchandise, tossing it his chest, "There you go, hero."
As he unfurled the top he narrowed his eyes at you, turning it so you could see the printed text 'Ghostbusting Apprentice in training' painted across the chest. Watching as he dropped it on the desk, you pretended to consider for a moment, as he watched you, eyebrows raiseed in a look that said... 'really?'
"I suppose you could have this one instead..." Reaching behind yourself you pulled out a freshly ironed t-shirt, unfolding this one yourself you laid it out on your desk in front of him.
His eyes bulged slightly, before his eyes were once again squinting in your direction, a challenging type look on his face now as his brows furrowed.
Across the chest of the green tee was the words 'Pukey's Splash Zone'.
"What? You thought the others could resist telling me what happened?" You weren't even trying to hold back your grin at this point, much too amused with his situation and now the added confusion that painted his face. "But... how? That was barely an hour ago." He muttered, perplexed, as he studied the text up close.
"I'd love to say I saw it coming and had it made ages ago, but..." Turning my head slightly I gestured to the iron and paper offcuts still lingering on top of a cabinet.
"Never make the mistake of thinking I'm without craft supplies."
Lars' expression was simply amused, all lingering frustration long gone. "I won't, I promise" Laughing through his words, he pulled the shirt on over his button up. The movement only ruffled his hair further, various pieces now pointing askew out to the side or straight upwards. Slightly disheveled and lounging in your spare chair he was entrancing. You struggled to think of something to break the silence, mind too caught in how soft it made him look to think up any more teasing.
"lovely..." is all you can manage to whisper, though you weren't sure if you were talking about his promise or him as a whole.
"I'm feeling much more work appropriate already" He joked looking down at the tee, only raising his eyes to consider you, when you remained silent. Your gaze was back on your computer, desperately avoiding staring, the room was caught in awkward tension, and the stress built up over the last few days was still thick in the air.
"I'm really glad you're all alright. I was more than a little worried about you Lars"
"Hey its okay, everyone's alright. Even the ghosts got out okay" He never really failed to bring a smile to your face and that little joke was enough for now.
"Wait why me?"
Shit

Imagine If You Will... Just Us (Lars Pinfield X gn!Reader)
Prompts: “I thought it was going to be just us today” from @pookie-and-cereal's list (here) AND #17, #28 and #30 from @thelonelyempath's list (here).
W.C: ~3k
Warnings: Gary gets typical 3rd wheel treatment, science flirting (it's real bad),
Coming back from Ray's, your arms were killing, turns out hiking over an hour over public transport with more than ten kilos of, for a lack of a better word, junk, was not the brightest idea. Lars had texted you late last night, gushing over the newest adaptions he'd make to the extractor; how much time was saved on every use, how low the resistance rate was etc.
So naturally, when he invited you to come in on the weekend to try it out, your reply could have broken the sound barrier, if it weren't a text that is. You weren't exactly in his realm in regards to ghostbusting science, now don't get me wrong you did ghost bust on occasion, but your main focus was on the PR end of Ghost Corps. Yes, it is a very stressful job. That being so, you weren't sure why he'd chosen to invite you, surely another scientist would be able to understand it better.
Well, who truly cares... you were getting the rare chance to witness his dorky joy and that was not something you were going to turn down.
Finally trudging in through the main doors, you let out a grievous grunt as you dropped the box of trinkets onto a nearby trolley. Tugging it along behind you as you made your way to the main lab, you waved as you always did towards the enclosed ghosts in the hallway. Finally setting sights on the elaborate workspaces of the many scientists that work crammed into the space, you allowed your smile to overtake your features, eager as always to see Lars in his natural environment.
You'd first met when you stated on the G.C PR team, you'd been eager to set up a web page for the Ghostbusters with a page profile for all involved scientists. Winston had had you meet them all here in the lab, Lars was one of the first you'd met and you'd gotten along immediately.
"Heyo! I think you're gonna have to send Ray a gift basket with the amount of stuff he gave us-" Your rattled-out greeting was cut short as your eyes fell on the pair of men huddled by one of the desks. As they turned to greet you, you felt your steps slow, the air felt dense against your movements. Lars had forced out a smile that had no hopes of reaching his eyes, while the man by his side, Gary Grooberson, seemed to be dripping in ecstatic energy as he jogged over to meet you by the steps.
As he lifted the front end of the trolley and helped you carry it down, your eyes fell back on Lars, he was once again facing away from you and he'd retreated to the large mechanical focus of your visit. His hands were busy doing, what even you could tell from across the room, was absolutely nothing.
Cutting your study short, Gary captured you in a hug, it was as it always is; warm and comforting and definitely more for him than it was for you. You had time and time again succeeded in putting a good spin on whatever ruckus his family had created, so he was by no means a new acquaintance, neither was his proclivity for hugs a surprise.
Gary's greeting however flew right past your ears, tearing your focus away from the man on the other side of the space was proving much too difficult. To your luck however, you managed a gentle greeting and casual inquiry of how his family was doing before a notable amount of time had passed.
With a conscious effort you set your eyes on Gary, resolved to focus on the conversation at hand, the man before you was a friend after all. As the conversation continued, small updates about how the Spenglers and co were doing outside of the ghost busts filled the next half hour, before the dialogue began to stall.
Until, Gary, ever the extrovert, started to rifle through the box you'd brought in,
'So, are you as excited for today as I am? It sounds like Lars has been making absolute leaps and bounds with this stuff.'
Now, you wouldn't say you were projecting your voice when you spoke up, nonetheless, it definitely wasn't a normal speaking level. 'Yeah! I can't wait to see what he's been up to...' You trailed off as you glanced towards where Lars still stood, his back to the two of you but his hands had now stilled in place, a change you all but reveled in.
Lars wasn't a guy who enjoyed being alone all to much, you'd been able to gather as such within moments of meeting him. Luckily, that first time, you'd caught him on a good day; when talking about his work, rather than doing it, was pretty much exactly what he wanted to do. He'd tried to come across as a sort of stoic and while it was clear he did enjoy the solitude, the way he interacted with his peers made it crystal clear how much he also enjoyed such conversations.
That was part of why his actions today seemed so strange... You weren't exactly his peer as a scientist, but you knew enough about ghosts and he'd shared similar achievements with you in the past, not to mention the fact that he, himself, had invited you here only last night.
As for Gary, he was a scientific man himself, so why the Lars wasn't chatting happily with him about the newest changes to the mechanism was a mystery to say the least.
You'd hate to admit it, although it wasn't hard to notice by any means, you'd obliviously thought it was just going to be the two of you. So it took some quick metal re-wiring upon realizing you wouldn't just be able to fawn so freely over the unsuspecting scientist as you often did.
In that moment you'd felt bad, noting that both of you were acting strange and that that couldn't have been too fun for Gary.
Although... you considered perhaps Lars was simply overthinking his progress, now that his audience was present. Maybe he just needed a little push to start, like one of those old timey planes.
'Lars' Your call cracked through the silence of the facility, your voice finally tugging the man in question to turn on the spot. 'Come on Science-man, show us what you've got!'
He shook his head slightly in a sort of incredulity as he turned back around, your shoulders fell slightly, but only momentarily as his voice soon bounced around the room.
'Come on then'
Your eager smile reappeared on your face as you beelined towards the large prism like container in the middle of the workplace, where he stood hitting, what you could only assume, were the start up buttons. Your eyes on him, and his eyes on the machine -with you safely in his peripherals- Gary was left to wheel over the box of supplies. His mumblings of something about third wheeling and losing his phone, all but faded to oblivion in your focus.
Stepping back from the small panel and towards yourself and Gary, Lars seemed to pause for a moment, glancing once between you and his chair that sat empty by the control screen. You brushed off the look he'd given as he began to speak, as a mutual offer between him, yourself and Gary, You'd chosen consciously however, to not plop down in it yourself.
Strangely, claiming his seat whenever he stood from it, felt like something you could only do in private, although it usually occurred when ten or so other scientists also occupied the space. You suppose, sitting there; your head in your hand, as you gawk up at him was a lot more obvious when the only other person in the room would be standing mere feet away.
Whilst you turned your own thoughts over in your head, Gary had taken the chair for himself, muttering out a cheeky, 'ya snooze ya lose'. While you were still mulling things over, Gary caught what you didn't; a flash of a glare passing over Lars' features as he paused his explanation.
Choosing to remain comfy, Gary shot the younger scientist a simple smile, before tilting his head in your direction. With one look to you, your in-your-head state was obvious and Lars was talking a step towards you, your name a whisper on his lips.
Snapping out of your thoughts, and meeting his eyes, you immediately rushed out an apology running shaky hands down your face as you promised to listen closely.
From there it was somewhat business as usual, Lars went about explaining his changes, with yourself, and Gary, asking prompting questions every once and a while. You'd resolved to simply enjoy his company as you usually would, extra company be damned. Sorry Gary.
Gaping up at him in the way you always did, you were yet again in awe of Lars. The way his eyes shone a little brighter when the machine worked perfectly and how he would always look eagerly to you a soft smile on his face. Ghost by ghoul, the three of you went about testing for a while, with Lars occasionally ducking his head towards the wiring or control panel to make some small adjustment, only to return with a beaming smile when the following test went by even faster.
Watching him work was always enjoyable. He was always either grinning like a fool or he had that small frown and furrowed brow that graced his features in a moment, usually quite brief, of struggle. All the same, even that echo of a scowl wasn't enough to diminish the glow you swore he gave off. Today was slightly different, there was no lab coat in sight, his goggles hung loosely around his neck and the top half of his jumpsuit had been tied 'round his waist. He seemed relaxed, at least if you ignored the tension that seemed to be holding his body together.
'Amazing' your murmured comment, and the countless like it, were more about him than his machine and whenever you caught his eyes with your own, you hoped he could see that. Gary, on the other hand was completely enthralled by the testing, rattling off compliments of his own with much higher frequency, mentions of the 'stellar efficiency' and 'innovative programming' which, I'm sad to say, went in one ear and out the other. Except, for when he managed to interrupt you in the midst of his enthusiasm, at which point he was met with yet another brief glare from the man of the hour.
The setting sun that bathed the three of you in warm tones of orange and yellow took you by surprise, and a quick glace to the box by your side revealed you had powered through more than three quarters of your supplies. You felt your shoulders fall considerably at this thought, now achingly aware you'd be expected to leave somewhat soon. Shocking you from your melancholy was the loud ring of Lars' phone, some 8-bit version of the Ghostbusters theme you'd set up on his phone some time ago, echoing about the space.
He hurriedly excused himself, and unwitting as usual your eyes lingered on the doorway he'd left through. Until a clambering of legs swung into your own, following them with an eyebrow raised you met Gary's stare as his own eyebrows wiggled fancifully. 'Soooo... I'm gonna get going, Callie just texted-' Catching him in a squinted glare you doubted '-didn't you say you'd lost your phone?'
'um-uh, okay so I'm just a little aware that you guys want to be alone.' His tone was anything but unsure, nevertheless he seemed hesitant to voice his concern.
'No don't go, I'm sorry I-I know I get a bit absorbed seeing him work, but he wants you here!' You'd felt horrible, you weren't aware how obvious you'd been.
'Its okay, I know you didn't mean to... Also I highly doubt Lars is all that happy about me being here.' You opened your mouth to argue but he shook his head simply as he continued. 'Winston invited me after Lars let him know he'd be here today, He didn't know until I got here and that half an hour before you arrived was tense enough.'
You supposed he was right, Lars had seemed pretty off earlier, but surely it wasn't that deep that Gary should leave. 'That's silly though, you're a scientist, if anyone is annoying him by hanging around surely its me... I mean I was asking all those inane questions.'
Your concern was met with the most well meaning, yet still a bit of a brush-off, cackle you'd heard from him, 'Except every one was met with a soft explanation and a confirmation that you understood, which wasn't exactly the response I've been getting. I doubt today was meant to be about the science as anything more than as a justification for inviting you over.'
Your brow furrowed at that, yourself and Lars had hung out before, you supposed it wasn't too frequently and it was usually a work outing where the two of you peeled off for a bit. Even so, why would he feel like he had to justify inviting you over?
'But we're friends, he knows he doesn't have to-' you stopped yourself as his footsteps reverberated through the halls, growing closer by the second.
Mid-way through turning your head to catch the doorway, Gary darted out of his chair. Stealing back your attention as he addressed yourself and you supposed lars, who you could imagine had stopped, lingering at the end of the hall at the other man's outburst. 'I've gotta get going, great seeing you guys... Good luck with the rest of the testing...' He was backing away now, towards the entryway, maneuvering around stray chairs and tables as he went. With a final flourish of a finger gun in Lars' direction, he was crossing the threshold and calling back over his shoulder. '...Not that you need it!'
You found yourself scoffing in disbelief as you continued to watch as the doors swung closed with a slam. Slowly turning on the spot you set sights on Lars. He was making his way over to you, shoulders still higher than usual, tight due to, as far as you could ascertain, the dramatic exit of the older man. Reaching out, you placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. As the slight weight of your hand settled on him you noted the relaxed fall of his shoulders, a sigh falling from his lips. Content with the slight ease in his demeanor you gave a slight squeeze and a hum of your own.
'So, should we get back to it?' Lars nodded, but otherwise remained completely still until you elected to remove your hand, at which point he spun on the spot and traipsed back over to the machine with a vigor that'd been notably absent all day.
Narrowing your eyes at the man in front of you, you watched as he returned to his regular As Seen On TV type demonstration. Now, with a pep in his step that you always found almost too intoxicating he placed a new object inside the chamber, closed it and started towards the computer.
'Hey, Lars? Can you level with me on something?' you hated to see how his movements stuttered to a halt at your vague interruption, but the question fell from your lips before you could think, 'Do you not like Gary?' His gaze seemed to flutter about the space, until his eyes were screwed shut, a shaky hand messing through his locks as his jaw dropped open, dancing silently in the nonexistent wind until you fixed him with pointed look and he suddenly found some words.
'I don't dislike him he's just very- He's smart it's just- its just that...' he trailed off, seemingly deciding to communicate through a jumpscare like gesture of his hands.
'He's very eager?' he nodded, glad you gotten his meaning, but he stilled when your head tilted ever so slightly.
'So am I.' With that thought your eyes had drifted from his, not shyly to the ground but dazed, as if fixed on some invisible specter only you could see. Your mind grew harsh faster than you'd care to admit, retroactively scanning every interaction with him against some intangible measure of frustration. There were surely times your presence slowed his work, distracting him with conversation or absurd what if's, not to mention the plethora of what you now realized must have been idiotic questions.
Surely he'd been speaking while you re-considered your very existence, but it wasn't until you felt the warmth of his hands on your shoulders that an ounce of sound managed to reach your brain.
'Hey, you okay there? You-you went blank on me.'
'I-um yeah -I just...' You had no clue what to say, how could you? Yeah sorry I was just thinking about how insufferable I must be to you, that came with a little spiraling as a treat.
Gathering that you'd most likely missed his in depth explanation of the difference between yourself and Gary from his perspective, Lars stepped away from you, considering the best way to dissolve the tension evident on your features. 'You and I, Us, we're not just colleagues, you don't just come to me to get new gadgets or answer some question you have... even if you do have a few. We're... something else, but when he's here its like he's extracting facts and figures, all the while you're just trying to understand me, m-my work. Its not his fault I- just I-'
'-Thought it was going to be just us today?' Cutting off his rambling you finally met his eyes. He shrugged nodding slightly as he held your gaze. 'If it makes it better?.. it is now.'
He released a bemused hmmf. 'I'll admit I wasn't the biggest fan of having to fight for your attention today. I'm pretty glad it is just the two of us again. Splitting your focus between me and my work is as much as I can handle.' Shaking your head in amusement at his sudden bluntness, you stepped towards him, a gentle hand against his chest, the eye contact mere inches long as you stood in his orbit.
'You are so oblivious... Trust me Lars there was not a moment that you weren't the nucleus of my afternoon.' A light groan was his only response to your overy-cheesy claim. 'No? what about...' you thought for a moment, tapping a finger to your chin.
'I'm much too weak to resist the gravity of your presence.' he narrowed his eyes at you own, looking for something you couldn't distinguish.
'Is that why you're in so close? My pull is too strong?' He didn't bother to cover the roll of his eyes or the teasing tone in his voice, but the smile that was paired with them was comfort enough to keep you talking.
'Mhmm You're just too enthralling Pinfield, you're gonna have to work on that if you want other people to be able to stand being around us'
Amidst all his scoffing and modest smiling, the blush that spung up across his cheeks was a sight for sore eyes, as his head lowered and he whispered into the paper thin space between you his tone even and resolute;
'Who says I'd ever want that?'

Imagine If You Will... Scientists of an Absurd Field (Lars Pinfield x gn!Reader)
Featuring: #2 + #9 from @dumplingsjinson's prompt list (here)
W.C: ~1.3K
Warnings: teasing,
The new non-firehouse base for Ghost Corps was as clinical as it was scientific, and hence it wasn't your favorite place. Although being completely honest with yourself, your distaste for the space was most likely linked to the gangly scientist who remained tucked inside its walls seemingly 24/7.
He wasn't horrid by any means, he was an amazing scientist. you'd seen his work over the last year or so and it never failed to impress, yet when it came to your work he seemed unable, or at least unwilling, to comprehend your methods. He seemed to believe your more spiritual work regarding ghosts was quack-like, on one occasion he likened it to a band-aid on a bullet wound, it was at that point in the conversation you enjoyed reminding him that spirits were much more open to spiritual interactions than scientific attacks. Was your wording perhaps a bit judgmental? yes, but you know what they say about fighting fire with fire... it works.
Silently musing over the satisfaction of keeping your old office away from the over-tiled building, you trailed through the halls in search of Winston. A dense stack of files tucked under one arm, your phone in the other, browsing emails and DMs for any new cases, your focus only raised from the floor upon hearing an all too recognizable groan coming from somewhere ahead of you.
Despite your initial assumption, the sound that fell from Pinfield's lips was not directed at you, as per usual, but instead at whatever possessed item he was dealing with. His usually quaffed hair had become splayed and crazed, some strands drooping down over his goggles, he seemed completely engaged with the task at hand despite the chaos that was perpetually unfolding on the surrounding desks and there was truly no telling how long he'd been in that position.
Deciding it was best to continue your search in other areas of the facility, you slowly regained your previous pace, your own gaze now, however, stuck on the hunched man in the center of the space. Your few milliseconds of observation were, perhaps, not the best trade off for looking where you were going, as within a moment you felt your body collide with another. Snapping your head forward you were met with Winston's light smirk of amusement as he held your shoulders to keep you steady.
'Woah there,' The statement was pretty nonchalant and was followed by a small chuckle as he watched your eyes widen in embarrassment. 'You know in Ghostbusting, I've always found it helpful to look where I was going.' His tease made you roll your eyes, even so it pulled a small shy smile onto your face.
'Sorry Winston I-'
'Oh its really no bother, I get that way myself with all of this,' He turned glanced around the room at the machinery and containment cells, his observation of your intrigue clearly missed the specificity of your gaze. Even as your eyes flickered back to Lars, his posture now straightened, his goggles pulled atop his head and his hair pulled back beneath it, only to see his gaze already studying you, Winston seemed much too caught up in the room as a whole.
'Ghost corps has made such great achievements, so many scientific bounds leapt. And now with you, we have the more mystical side locked down as well. Nevertheless, I'll let you in on a secret...' The taller man leant in a little closer, cautiously looking side to side in feigned secrecy, 'Scientists, especially in such an absurd field, are pretty big show-offs, I'm pretty sure every one of them would be more than eager to explain their work, if you're willing to lend an ear that is.'
Nodding in understanding, you felt the need to move the conversation to a place, physically and topically, away from the current scene. 'I'll have to give that a try, but um... for now-' I tapped my fingers against the manilla folders still tucked under your arm, 'I've been quite busy.'
From there you'd spent over an hour of catching Winston up on your most recent jobs, different cases all over the country, resulting in a range of movings-alongs and trappings, despite the latter option being your last resort more often than not.
When you finally left his office, a few additional jobs assigned for the following weeks, you made your way back through the halls. Winston's words were clattering around in your head, and without noticing, your feet had brought you to the large machine in the center of the main lab.
You kind-of knew what it did, you'd handed in a few items you'd collected over the last few months for extraction, yet as you stood in it's shadow, hands tucked neatly away in your jacket pockets, as if afraid to touch any part of the machine even anything as minor as a brush of your knuckles, you realized you were completely in the dark over how it actually worked.
Eyes running along the tubing and cables you failed to notice the footsteps approaching from behind until they settled by your side.
'Thinking about getting into actual ghostbusting?' Your eyes had never before rolled like they did in that moment. Closing your eyes with a deep breath in, you stewed in the moment, uninterested in even acknowledging the man by your side.
'It's okay, I'm sure we could find something actually useful for you to do.' An unwitting sigh passed through your lips at his incendiary comment. Taking a moment and considering your options you settled on waiting for him to say more. After all, his comments were baseless, both of you were well aware of the others accomplishments, and more often than not that was the point of bickering betwixt the pair of you.
'I know how you love speaking to ghosts, so maybe you could use your special set of skills' -a phrase he entombed in air quotes- 'to get their names before we put them in containment... might make filing quicker.' He was so... infuriating, there was not one moment in his presence where you'd known a semblance of peace. You save his life... he thinks of a hundred ways you could have done it quicker...and proceeds to tell you them in detail. God forbid it ever came to it, you doubt he'd ever let up about it if he managed to save your life.
Turning to him slowly you cocked your head to the side, feigning a patronizing level of concern, as you placed a soft hand on his arm, 'The world still goes around if you don’t talk. You do realise that, right?' His brow tightened in what you expected to be his only response, but within moments he was scoffing and peeling your hand from his arm, holding it securely in both of his against his jumpsuit-clad chest as he met your condescending gaze with one of his own.
'I'm sure it would, still, the last time I did, you struggled to focus on putting one foot in front of the other. I'm just trying to help you stay upright, bub.' His gaze was darker now, nothing short of challenging you to contest, and yet when you did... he chuckled, cutting you off.
Squeezing your hand briefly between his own as he nodded knowingly 'I know, my kindness knows no bounds, its okay there's no need to thank me.' He was often cocky, at least around you, but this was next level, and despite him definitely having the upper hand, you felt the familiar and overwhelming need to push back.
Pulling your other hand up to join his and your other, you leant into him slightly, taking an almost invisible step forward as you drew your lips into a sickeningly sweet smile, 'Oh lars...'
You leaned in closer, eyes searching his for any hesitance, and when met simply by a wink, your lips met his. It was brief and by far the softest interaction the pair of you had had to date, however that of course did not last long as you soon parted your lips.
'What a shame... You sound better when you’re not talking.'

So about that thing I mentioned earlier...
As per my previous spoiler-free review of Frozen Empire, I mentioned that the film includes something I never expected, and I have complex feelings about it. Well, here it is. Spoilers below, don't read if you haven't watched (I'm serious).
Alright well first of all, PHOEBE SPENGLER IS GAY!!! PHOEBE IS A FUCKING HOMOSEXUAL!!! A LESBIAB!!! WOMEN!!! THERE WAS NO HETEROSEXUAL EXPLANATION FOR THAT. HOW SHE TALKED WITH MELODY THE GHOST. THAT WAS FLIRTING. EVERYONE SHUT UP. PHEOBE OUT-GAYED YOU ALL. SHE HAS TAKEN HER CROWN AS THE QUEEREST GHOSTBUSTER AND THE SIMPSONS PREDICTED IT.
Ok. Ok. I'm fine. I'm calm now. I'm not. I'm fine I swear.
Joking aside, let me talk about this seriously. Phoebe's relationship with Melody was fascinating and a huge surprise to me. I suspected this movie might delve into the ethics of ghost hunting, and there would be a betrayal involved in the story (based on some very grasping-at-straws observations I made that I won't go into here) I was shocked to be right on both accounts, but not in the way I expected.
I loved the direction they took these two characters, and I loved seeing their interactions that read as awkward flirtations. It was beautiful and bittersweet up until the very end. I'm so happy they were able to make up and help each other. Melody was able to move on and Phoebe discovered a part of herself, along with a newfound appreciation for her family.
That being said, this plot element left me an emotional wreck. Once I got over the high of seeing obvious queer coding in a Ghostbusters movie, I crashed hard. The scene were Phoebe separated her own soul just to be close to Melody was upsetting to me. It's almost as self-destructive as suicide. It's in-character considering what Phoebe was going though at the time but still. That along with what happens after was really scary to witness. Also... Up until now I had been clinging to a personal headcanon that Phoebe was aroace like myself. I can't hold on to that idea anymore. Sitting in the theater dressed up as this character that I related to on a personal level for so long, suddenly watching her experience emotions that I never have or ever will... It broke me. I actually couldn't sleep last night because this + personal stuff made my anxiety come back. I had to call in sick today because I can't eat.
I feel horrible about this. It's selfish to want a character to be exactly like me when she was made by someone else. I don't want to be homophobic and I want to support other LGBTQ+ people in our community that can feel represented by this. I am truly happy for them! Even if this wasn't the perfect romance (it's between a living child and a ghost who can't grow up with her) it's still something special! Hopefully later down the line she can have a girlfriend with a pulse, though.
I do worry about what the fan reaction to this will be. Will people hate Phoebe for the mistake she made in trusting Melody? Is this going to be another "Mabel caused Weirdmageddon"? I'm not strong enough to handle that again. On the other hand, now that She's been strongly hinted at being gay and she's a bit older, is her tag going to become nothing but ships? Will everyone abandon all other headcanons/ideas in favor of "Melody stays" AUs (robbing her story of it's impact) or shipping her with OCs? The main tag is already full of romantic shipping and my sad little aro heart can't take it. I may just have to accept that fandom isn't for me and stay away.
I acknowledge that my feelings on this are deeply personal and do not detract from the film at all. I will be OK, I just need time to process this. I have to be mature about it. I still love Phoebe with all my heart. She's my favorite and nothing will change that, even though we are different for many reasons.

Spoiler-Free review of Frozen Empire:
*Internal screaming*
Hoo boy.
It feels surreal to be at this point, but now that I've seen Frozen Empire I can give my thoughts on it. This wont be a very organized review since I'm still a bundle of excitement and nerves, but I'll do my best!
Overall, I did enjoy it a lot! This movie brings us back to New York, just like the classic films, but does a lot of things narrative-wise that we've never seen before in a Ghostbusters movie. A good balance of old and new just like Afterlife! The film also focuses more on the family dynamics of the Spenglers & Phoebe's place within them and the Ghostbusters. It addresses some of the issues fans had with Afterlife (namely, the "kids can't be Ghostbusters" argument) and actually explores what that means for Phoebe's character development. I like this!
That being said, I did have some slight issues with it, nothing that completely ruins the experience though. This is still leaps and bounds beyond Ghostbusters 2 or 2016 (no offense to fans of those movies, they both have their merits but I rank them lower in the list). Be prepared to see a huge cast of characters with some new faces. Everyone gets their fair share of screen time, but in a cast as packed as this, it means we don't get to see all the character interactions I had hoped. Fingers crossed the future spinoff material makes up for this.
(There's also some stuff involving the character Nadeem that I saw one person point out is Orientalism. I'm not qualified to talk on that in detail because I'm white and it went over my head, but yeah. It's small but it might bother some of you. He's a fun character otherwise!)
The ghost designs were great. The main villain is an intimidating presence with one of the most interesting backstories of all the film baddies. It also takes us in a much darker direction than the previous installments. Get ready for some scary moments! I admit I was disappointed that one returning ghost was relegated to a mere cameo, and the mini-pufts annoy me, but Slimer's portrayal in this film was PERFECT. Best use of the spud to date.
(Speaking of ghosts, um. There's a certain element in here that I never saw coming. I have a lot of complex feelings about it and I'll have to save that for a separate post containing spoilers.)
So for closing thoughts, It's hard for me to give an exact rating but it's at least on par with Afterlife. If you liked that one, you'll probably enjoy this one too. (Although I'm surprised to see some people who disliked Afterlife were won over by this movie so that's nice!)
Bundle up and go see it for yourself!
