The reality of being a survivor is that the person or people who hurt you might just get to live full, rich lives and leave you behind. It's a perverse feeling, and it's true that that is fucked up. It feels like they still control you even when they're out of your life, and you feel trapped. However, you still deserve to be happy, to be fulfilled. Your life hasn't ended because they stole parts of it. They will never truly be able to take the essence of who you are.
Remembering this has taken the edge off of this thought. I won't ever give my abusers that power over me ever again. They never fucking deserved that.

The presence of God is an incredible gift that can comfort us, empower us and give us strength in difficult times. The following Bible verses about the presence of God teach us about the many benefits of being with God. From Moses to the virgin Mary, each one encountered a powerful connection with God...

GOD I would like to eventually publish my fiction someday, but I want to be sure it’s in a way that is the opposite of the Twitter/booktok/why is this YA author reviewing disney movies on youtube/celebrity writer personality thing
and like, I think making sure the content in my stories a. doesn’t fit popular formats (”fiesty” heroine who hates being a girl, love triangle-centered, I’m-an-outcast-as-a-shortcut-for-character-depth, characters who exist to tick off a diversity checklist) and b. putting in enough sex and violence that nobody can market me for adults who don’t want to rise above a 6th grade reading level will help that somewhat
but have you noticed male writers aren’t being packaged like this? The closest I can think of to a twitter-era-online-personality-author equivalent for guys is like, the auteur figure who writes really niche or intellectualist shit or is just an edgelord, but even then it’s like, I have a black and white author photo and a twitter, which I use to occasionally discuss current events, other writers, or to say that women are people once every six months (and I’m not talking about like, rock stars who end up publishing a book or something, I’m talking purely authors) or the avuncular or edgy grandfather types who are usually also Super famous (like idc Neil Gaiman)
like I want what current male authors have, I want to get published and be successful and for my books to be enjoyed and respected, I want people to read my stuff and be like “this book was great” and have no idea what I’m like beyond “lives in Indiana and owns 2 dogs”
#like if I HAVE to have social media#I want to do a Megan Whalen Turner and just have my tiny tumblr where I reblog fanart#and talk about what historical sources I used as inspiration and NOTHING else#and I think weirdly for male authors the more famous they are the more celebrity presence/less private life they have#whereas for women authors I think it's the opposite#like even as famous and online as margaret atwood is how much does the average person know about her personally??#or deborah harkness??#meanwhile all these less successful-- mostly youth market-- interchangeable female authors are like 'lets discuss my entire family history#my various marginalized identities and how I use fanfic tropes to empower my middle school self'#and must have celebrity opinions on everything and broadcast themselves everywhere#basically I'm not seeing 20 and 30something male authors selling me their books on tiktok#if it's happening it's happening somewhere completely under the radar for me#meanwhile dozens of women in panda onesies are constantly hyping their new YA novel#something something women and minority authors must sell their identities and not their work something something#like let me be the old school fantasy author who wrote a dozen bestselling series about the most bizarre shit ever#meanwhile you'd never seen their face and they didn't even use their first name just seven sets of initials#like you only get to know about me if I'm god-tier famous and then I'm using my fame to get my fave historical buildings restored#barring that I don't exist

A message from a few of the trans staff at Tumblr & Automattic:
We want trans people, and LGBTQ+ people broadly, to feel welcome on Tumblr, in part because we as trans people at Tumblr and Automattic want it to be a space where we ourselves feel included. We want to feel like this is a platform that supports us and fights for our safety. Tumblr is made brighter and more vibrant by your presence, and the LGBTQ+ folks who help run it are fighting all the time for this, for you, internally.
A few days ago, Matt Mullenweg (the CEO of Automattic, Tumblr’s parent company) responded to a user’s ask about an account suspension in a way that negatively affected Tumblr’s LGBTQ+ community. We believe that Matt's response to this ask and his continued commentary has been unwarranted and harmful. Tumblr staff do not comment on moderation decisions as a matter of policy for a variety of reasons—including the privacy of those involved, and the practicalities of moderating thousands of reports a day. The downside of this policy is that it is very easy for rumors and incorrect information about actions taken by our Trust & Safety team to spread unchecked. Given this, we want to clarify a few different pieces of this situation:
The reality of predstrogen's suspension was not accurately conveyed, and made it seem like we were reaching for opportunities to ban trans feminine people on the platform. This is not the case. The example comment shared in the post linked above does not meet our definition of a realistic threat of violence, and was not the deciding factor in the account suspension.
Matt thereafter failed to recognize the harm to the community as a result of this suspension. Matt does not speak on behalf of the LGBTQ+ people who help run Tumblr or Automattic, and we were not consulted in the construction of a response to these events.
Last year, the "mature" and "sexual themes" community labels were erroneously applied to some users' posts. An outside team of contractors tasked with applying community labels to posts were responsible for this larger trend of mislabeling trans-related content. When our Trust & Safety team discovered this issue (thanks largely to reports from the community), we removed the contracted team’s ability to apply community labels and added more oversight to ensure it does not happen again. In the Staff post about this, LGBTQ+ staff pushed to be more transparent but were overruled by leadership. The termination of a contractor mentioned in the original ask response was for an unrelated incident which was incorrectly attributed to this case. We regret that the mislabeling ever happened, and the negative impact it has had on the trans community on Tumblr.
Transition timelines are not against our community guidelines, and weren’t a factor considered by the moderation team when discussing suspensions and subsequent appeals. We do not take action against content that is related to transitioning or trans bodies unless it includes violations of the Community Guidelines.
When it comes to the experience of trans folks on Tumblr encountering transphobic content, and interacting with bigoted users, we understand and share your frustrations. Tumblr’s policies, and Automattic’s policies, are written to ensure freedom of speech and expression. We prohibit harassment as defined in our Community Guidelines, but we know that this policy falls short of protecting users from the wider scope of harmful speech often used against LGBTQ+ and other marginalized people.
Going forward, Tumblr is taking the following actions:
Prioritizing anti-harassment features that will empower users to more effectively protect themselves from harassment.
Building more internal tooling for us as Staff to proactively identify and mitigate instances of harassment.
Reviewing which of the tags frequently used by the trans community are blocked, and working to make them available next week.
We’re sorry for how this all transpired, and we’re actively fighting to make our voices heard more and prevent something like this from happening again in the future. We know firsthand that having to deal with situations like this as a Tumblr user is difficult, particularly as a member of an already frequently targeted and harassed community. We know it will take time to regain your trust, and we’re going to put in the work to rebuild it.
We appreciate the space we have been given to express our concerns and dissent, and we are thankful that Matt’s (and Automattic’s) strong commitment to freedom of expression has facilitated it.
We will continue to fight to make Tumblr safe for us all.
— This statement was authored by multiple trans employees of Tumblr and Automattic.

Creative exploration days.... Self care days. Do what feels good days.
I sleep a lot. Sleep in.
See the world with new eyes. Like a kid.
That feeling of excitement. Like there's just so many things to do to feel ALIVE. i want to do them ALL. and now! I want to CONNECT on the deepest level. To people. To nature. The world.
Do my makeup and a little photo shoot. Feel sexy again... I've been gaining weight and not feelin myself; today I remember that's on you babe! Prance in my heels. Pose in my lingerie. Give in to fantasies and I feel... POWERFUL! it gives me energy. My power center is sacrum. I fuel that baby and mmmm is it delicious!
I sit by water. Breathe deeply. Feel gratitude for this life. Feel the strength in my body as I walk the wooded path. I dance along the path. And laugh at myself.

Hello Tumblr! I am posting this on behalf of the Queer Liberation Library, who don't yet have a Tumblr, but have promised me they're working on it. Some of you may remember them from the Twitter Poll I was involved in a few months ago where Hunger Pangs: True Love Bites beat multiple award-winning, trad-pub queer authors with a hefty 69% (nice).
For those of you unaware, the Queer Liberation Library, or QLL, is an organization fighting to build a vibrant, flourishing queer future by connecting LGBTQ+ people with literature, information, and resources that celebrate the unique and empowering diversity of our community.
And today, June 12th, 2023, they launched their fundraiser to try and reach 15k so that they can start purchasing digital licensing for queer media and hopefully open their digital doors to library patrons across the US in 2023 with as many queer and trans books as possible.
You can check out their newly redesigned website here:
(If you are in an unsafe space and need to exit the webpage quickly, there is a quick exit bar at the top that redirects to a weather page. When I spoke to them about their web design they were also open to accessibility suggestions and are potentially working on a dark mode for those of us who need it.)
If you know me, you know I am unequivocally pro-library, both as a reader and a queer writer. But with the current rise of homophobia, transphobia, and the proposed ban on books taking hold in certain States, the importance of having protected access queer books cannot be over-emphasized enough.
The QLL aims to protect that access, aiming to provide FREE access to queer and trans media (ebook and audio) to patrons regardless of location within the United States.
They are funded entirely through regular donations from their supporters and their now annual Pride fundraiser, where they hope to afford the cost of not just library books but also maintaining their web presence and staff.
I cannot emphasize enough how much this project is a labor of love for everyone involved and its importance.
And just to clarify, I am not involved in any way beyond raising awareness. When QLL reached out and asked me to retweet their fundraiser tweets, I readily agreed and offered to post about it on Tumblr because I believe in their mission and the world they are trying to build.
One where queer and trans books can't be banned or taken off of shelves because of bigotry and hatred.
If you would like to donate to the cause, you can do so here:
They've already surpassed their first 2k, and it'd be absolutely wonderful if we could help them reach their next milestone. And if you can't give, please consider signal boosting this post.
