98 years ago audiences were introduced to Nosferatu. Released on the 4the March in 1922. This silent era classic has stood the test of time and to this day still one of the greatest horror movies made. Despite its fame and history it is a bootleg and unauthorised adaptation of Dracula. The director changed the characters names to avoid copyright. This vampire was called Count Orlok. The stoker family had sued this due to the copyright breach. A court order had enforced all copies were to be destroyed. Luckily a few survived and were found and became of cinemas most influential horror movies. The atmosphere in the movie is fantastic. The use of shadows is used expertly. The scene where you see the sinister counts shadow glide up the stairs is one of the most iconic scenes in movie history. The ominous build up. As a famous critic once said. " it doesn't scare us but it haunts us". Directed by F.W Murnau he had crafted one of the finest horror movies of all time. The fact that 98 years later ,the films legacy is treasured worldwide. Max Schreck as Count Orlok steals the show. This isnt your suave and debonair Dracula lustily seducing the ladies. This vampire is beastial, almost feral. This nosferatu is a predator and he feels like one slowly stalking his prey. May this movies legend never be forgotten. Without this movie, horror would never have been the same I give this a 10/10 Viewer beware......... your in for a scare ~mr Hare #nosferatu #horror #horrorfans #horrorfansworldwide #classichorror #silenterafilms #vampire #vampiremovies #countorlok #maxschreck #blackandwhitemovies #germanhorrormovies #dracula #draculamovies #legendaryfilms #influentialmovies #scary https://www.instagram.com/p/CEFUGOeFeYE/?igshid=1ngmmdpdw4o8r

The Renfield Misconception By BatwebGothicReviews
We are writing a series of books that have given us cause to leap into the heads of many delightfully strange and unusual characters. One of which is Renfield. We have studied the original Dracula novel as well as all the book movie and cartoon adaptations there are. Of  course in the course of our story, we have drawn some of our own conclusions that may not match the opinions in the works listed above. Still we do not feel we abandon these works in our theories and understanding of Renfield. The thing about Renfield is he is a complex out   side the box sort of person. As we, ourselves, are strange and unusual, we tend to understand such minds without the barriers of judgment and assumption many others put up which lead to incorrect representation. Renfield is, in fact, so complex that The original book and many movies alike seem to state the truth about him, wile disregarding it a bit later only to draw the wrong conclusion entirely. The largest Renfield misconception is That he is insane. Why is Renfield insane? For having a master that mortals do not believe in or understand. Well now...LOL. Enough said there. Another reason he is considered insane, and a far more tangible one at that, literally, is the fact that Renfield enjoys eating small living things,, i.e bugs and spiders. The explanation he gives in the book is that he basically ingests their life when he takes them into himself, thus gaining more life. The psychologist' asked Renfield if this meant he ate the souls, indicating that he did not understand the difference between souls and life force. The good doctor knew nothing of metaphysical energies, and perhaps little of science either even for his time. Renfield himself is obviously an educated man of higher learning. He is understandably scathing to the 'good doctor's ignorance. Renfield attempts to explain the difference  between life force and the soul. I would say the soul is who we are and the life force animates us in the flesh. Renfield merely sought to add to his own animating force by taking that from smaller lives. Renfield was a bug/spider predator. LOL. Why not? We all gotta eat and we all have our little vices. I personally have many reasons why I find smoking to be an insane habit, but sadly smokers aren't locked away for their puff crimes against humanity. In ingesting small bugs and spiders, Renfield believed he was obtaining their life force. Considering the fact we only know how to use a small percentage of our brain, how do we know he hadn't truly tapped into a way to actually do this? Is not psychic phenomena just as intangible as life force? How about the ability to move things with the mind? There are many intangible yet indisputably real occurrences that science must admit to, and more are being added day by day. Not too many centuries ago, a man would have been considered insane for claiming that the world, indeed, was not flat!
