Millennium headcanons: Their parents and life growing up
Since yes I do have thoughts on that
tw for multiple counts of unhealthy to abusive parenting, patricide and matricide, fratricide and talk of nazism (without endorsement)
The major: Inspired by his Coyote backstory but not so similiar. Was raised by his mother, who was part of the early national socialist political scene, before it rose to power. Unfortunately, she died when he was around 12 years old. Max was taken under the wing of one of his mom's "friends" from the political circle, but wasn't particularly close to him. His closeness to the "higher-ups" of the nazis would fortunately grant him some privileges later on in life.
The doctor: Was raised as the only child of a middle class family. His parents were people driven purely by logic and void of emotion, which led to them verbally and occassionally physically abusing him under the guise of "motivating him". This greatly impacted Av's mental state, and his own parenting style later on. He would eventually be unable to take it and would sign up to fight in the first world war, still as a teenager, just to get away from them.
The captain: Grew up in a small village, circa the middle ages. I imagine his childhood was more or less normal and happy. He was the oldest of many siblings, and to this day sees some of them in Schrodinger. When he was of age, he left home to pursue finding a job. He still misses his family, and hopes they lived an easier life than him.
Rip Van Winkle: Was the youngest of three sisters (inspired by a fairytale trope). I headcanon her family is descended or related to a knight bloodline, and was quite wealthy. Not aristocratic but definitely upper-class. Because she took after her father way more than her sisters, she was daddy's girl, but her relationship with her mother was more difficult, especially as puberty settled in. She also had a turbulent relationship with her sisters, because they sided more with her mother and viewed her as the "rebellious, delusional airhead" of the family. Her ultimate "rebellion" would be when her father helped her secure a job as an SS officer.
Zorin Blitz: Was abducted as a baby by a witch. The witch would call herself Zorin's mother, and would raise her as her apprentice, along with several other girls in a middle of nowhere rural area. Her environment growing up would be extremely "kill or be killed" and she would watch her "sisters", those who weren't strong enough to keep up, die one by one. She realized that eventually, it would only be one of them who would survive, and she would have to make sure it would be her. So she started strenghtening herself, deceiving, lying to the others, pitting them against each other, and killing them off herself until she stood alone. She killed her "mother", freeing herself from her control, and went to pursue something better.
Schrodinger: Was created in a test tube, as the ultimate weapon against Alucard (haha get it. hellsing ultimate). In his younger years, he was isolated from the rest of Millennium, even kept as a secret to most, and raised primarily by Dok. When he was eventually let around the other members of Mill was coincidentally around the time his "unruly" phase kicked in, which sent Dok spiralling and essentially flip-flop between blaming himself and blaming everyone else for "corrupting" him, when all it essentially was was a normal phase for a child. Schro never had friends his age, only adults, so he would have a hard time communicating to other teenagers, I imagine.
Tubalcain Alhambra: If there's one thing I'm clueless about it's the state of Brazil circa the first half of the 20th century. But I like to think he was born into some-semi influential family (perhaps one who owned establishments like hotels, casinos, etc.), and grew up a socialite. Maybe he's not even brazilian by origin, his name sounds more middle eastern than anything to me, maybe he just happens to reside there. He probably has the skills resources to control the government and the media at least to some level. Probably to the level that they don't care about his family housing literal nazi refugees on their property. Yes that is my headcanon. Tubalcain was Millennium's landlord and you won't convince me otherwise.
The Valentine Brothers: They aren't biological brothers, but their parents were both single with a kid and got together, so they're step-siblings (valentinecest still sucks stfu). Both of their parents were absolutely terrible, terrible enough for the brothers to set their house on fire when Luke was 18 and Jan was 15, to make the authorities think they died along with their parents, and go pursue a life of crime instead.

I’m generally ambivalent to the gun spirit dream sequence shenanigans but the choice to have such a light silly scene before the absolute carnage that is the Rio hotel fight is such a good tonal shift.

I love the beat when Integra questions if Alucard is going to show any restraint or like moral qualms at all in the face of adversity and Walter reminds her that he’s a monster. It definitely has the tone of a conversation they’ve had before.

I think the Rio call (where Alucard is doing all this grandstanding about being a monster with zero remorse and needling her about potentially not being up to making a tougher call) is actually really interesting after him reacting so strongly to the one soldier killing himself, and then seeming to lose his own resolve a little bit when he realizes he’s been so harsh to Seras.

Okokokokok so I got two of em. Aireth and Addadon (or Seraph depending on the time frame)
Alright so before I address my lil shits I should mention that in my fic most mythic beings are real; angels, fae, demons, sirens, any and all extensions of these beings are also real. (Can’t say more than that without going into detail for events that happen in the fic and then we’d be there all day)
So without further ado
Aireth
Aireth is a being known as Fae-born. She was born a human, taken in by the fae and born again into one of them (aka made basically immortal). A coming of age ceremony for the fae is they send out the new adults into the human world to get some “experience with humans” Aireth had always been looking forward to this, always curious about human kind and why they were the way they were.
When she was finally able to set of on her own in the human world she wandered for a long time, until she came across a boy who was hiding in the bushes. She helped him, got him some bread, and cleaned him up before leaving him with some parting words.
“You will do great things”
She continues her wandering and begins to see what her elders and the rulers meant about humanity. Aireth, because she was fae-born could tap into dark magics and not suffer the same consequences as typical fae and over the next 15 year she gained a name
The crimson witch of the moon
The black magic had changed her. Corrupted her flesh and burrowed itself into her bones.
It was at this time that she heard of a king. He had started many a war and was proving to be a bloody warrior. Wanting to see what it was about she ventured to find him. Only to see that it was the boy she helped so long ago, but now he had a name; Vladimir Tempest.
Aireth would then go on to work with him, making a blood oath and eventually, when he was killed, she resurrected him. but something went wrong, and he bacame this half dead thing... the first Vampire.
they then separated. Aireth knew no good would come from staying with him, at his side so she went far, to Scottland, where she meat a blond haired boy. slowly this boy grew into a man, and he helped her undo what the dark magic had done to her.
as a man Aireth saw new beauty in him, and she fell in love.
this man was named Alexander Anderson.
they got married, and it wouldn't be till the end of world war 2 that Aireth became pregnant. though at this point Alex had been a regenerator for the church for almost 80 years, and he was off fighting in the war (though he came home so the kid is his) but he left again before Aireth could tell him.
now being Fae-born came to kick Aireth in the ass. to ensure that Fae-born don't run off with the fae's secrets they are cursed to only be able to give birth in the fae wilds, as it is a part of human nature to reproduce.
Aireth waited till she couldn't wait anymore and had to go to the fae wilds where three days after the birth of her daughter she got dragged into the war.
and then Alucard found her again... and she couldn't return to Alexander... and her daughter was ripped from her...
Abbadon (Seraph)
abbadon is Aireth and Alexanders Daughter, when she was but three days old the fae wilds in which she was being safe guarded were burned to the ground by the Major who was looking for her mother but settled on her instead.
taking her away, the Major and Dok raised her, but not as a human being- no, as an experiment.
she was the dok's prized possession even if her alterations caused her to rot from the inside out, he would just up her regeneration. though he had a plan to stop the rot before it started and that involved dumping the 10 year old into a vat of sulphic acid and many other chemicals....
Seraph wouldn't escape this cage until she was 16.
when she did she was found by the captian, and project Niphilm was concived (but thats spoliers so i can't really talk about it yet!). over te years she would grow (and because again. spoliers) and the captian and her would fall in love (super slow burn my guy, wolfman is dense and emotinally constipated)

what do you think of the Nazi apologia discourse going on right now? I've seen people talk about it but not actually call any nazi apologist out with screenshots or links to such things happening. One of the bloggers actually tried to point this out but received some hate over it and I'm not really wanting to get too caught up in it but what do you think about this?
I think I vaguely saw one post about it, but I try to keep out of discourses ....
Who was the blog? I am sorry they received hate for it - and honestly I will expect that the same happening, but please, dear followers, hear me out.
I too never saw anybody seriously apologising any Nazis and neither screenshots of those things happening, so I do wonder if people are just attacking people who like or roleplay the Millenium characters.
As somebody who often likes a lot of morally grey or even evil characters, I can differentiate between liking them - because they are interestingly written - and actually approving of their actions if they would happen in real life.
I mean, you can say that Millenium also had the most diverse cast, let women join the army (in case you didn’t know: Actual Nazis never would have allowed that to happen! Women were for birth and birth only!) and seemed to nourish respect and even idolised their opponents that were foreigners.
They were founded by the actions of the National Socialism - we remember the teeth and the money - but don't seem to be too much into their ideology. I suppose the only one beings were the "old men" you see in the manga. At least from what I remember.
Doesn't make them good people by all means! If they were real... well you know.
Personally I find the Major interesting... I think, I like his manner of speaking and that he seems to enjoy the simple things in life (good food, theatre....) and he is very confident in himself, not minding his weight at all and even able to laugh about it. I mean he is not my favourite character or anything, but I found those interesting traits.
But as an actual German person, who actually came in touch with the German history (unless some in the Hellsing fandom, who pretend to be anti-nazi and then make "gas the Jew jokes" (yes... they exist.... stay away from their discord please....)), I would never, ever, in my whole life approve of anything that came out of the Third Reich. I saw what happened, I studied the history and you can still feel it here today.
I hate to say it but Americans - who often seem to dominate online spaces, or are at least the most vocal - are and were pretty distanced from the actions, don't truly understand what happened and how many people were hurt.... save to say that the allies could have intervene much earlier. For years they had the knowledge of what happened in the KZs and didn't act - yes, it was a lie that they only figured out when they freed the KZs.
Still they pretend like they know the most and have the right to tell people how to feel about fictional things.
Probably I’m too old for this but in my youth it was nothing terrible to say “well actually the villain is the most interesting character in this series” and today people will stone you alive if you do. When and why did that happen?
But for me it is one thing if I say: The Dok seems to be an interesting character and actually interested that is research intends to help all of mankind, or he is totally right, let's bring human experiments back, we should do that in real life, Josef Mengele style.
I dunno.... suppose I made it quite clear that I don't think that if you like something in fiction means that you condone it in real life. Some people seem to think so, but I never actually met anybody who was influenced by it.
(Damn, enough people I know love fictional killers and are the most chill, pacifistic and nice people that exist.)
I mean, Jesus, if we want to go there, we must stop all the Hellsing fans. Liking Alucard? Jesus, he likes the smell of burning babies. Liking the Hellsing organisation? Never! Van Helsing made terrible experiments on a sentient being. And don’t let me get started on everyone in the Vatican!
So as long as nobody actually sits there and tells me:
All the (real life) Nazis were right all along, Hitler should have won, KZs were a great idea, kill all Jews and PoC, the Holocaust was great and so on and so forth, I would not call them a "Nazi apologist".
If I saw such a person, I would block them right away. I don't want to engage with any actual Nazi apologists.
If I see however blogs that just roleplay as the Major, Doc or Rip.... you do you. I never understood the Rip hype, I will admit and therefore wouldn't follow the blog, but the person running it does not have to be a Nazi apologist, just because they like Rip for some reason.
If truly see screenshots like I took once of a person defending Nazis, I do will call them Nazi apologist, like I did back then. Such people might exist. They do exist. I saw them.
But not everyone who likes Hellsing, Millenium, or even the Major is a Nazi apologist, in my opinion.
Maybe, maybe there are people who like the Major and actually are Nazi apologist. Such a person might exist. If they do: Screw them, really, I don't want you in this fandom.
But I need actually proof and not "oh they like Rip, so they must be a Nazi".
If you give me actual proof, showing me how one actually defends (historical) Nazis, yes... I will agree that they are a terrible person for doing that and that they should not engage with the fandom.
After all consider this: Everyone engaging in this discourse are in the fandom itself, so they consumed media with these characters and liked it: And they like the author too: Who also wrote and even created these characters, unlike the people simply roleplaying them.
