Did you know that in the 16th century, dogs were ranked not just by breed but by their job in human society? From the swift greyhounds of the hunt to the beloved lapdogs of nobility, discover how our ancestors’ relationships with their four-legged friends shaped canine history.
This article uncovers the intriguing history of dogs in the Middle Ages and how they were more than just pets – they were symbols of status, companions, and workers.
Dogs or cats?
When asked if I prefer cats or dogs, I’m definitely more of a dog person, though I still find cats quite charming. My active lifestyle and vibrant personality resonate more with the energetic and playful nature of dogs. In fact, I was born in the year of the dog, which might explain my strong connection to them.
Even with my active lifestyle, I treasure those quiet moments alone…
Once Elena went outside, she would find an already saddled up trail horse loosely attached to the railing of their deck. With an attention to detail, the coloration of the animal closely matched the picture currently hanging over her bed. Had he asked Jenna? Of course not.
But if Elena wanted a stable and paddock built in her own backyard he would arrange it. Otherwise when she was done for the day he'd call in a trailer to take the beast to a local boarding place.

Well shes not his biggest fan on a good day. Still a little cranky about everything. Turning her brother. Turning her aunt. Just to name a few things.....
But Jeremy had seemed so much happier. Jenna had been so happy with him, smiling and laughing in a way she hadn't seen before... So really, Elena couldn't fully hate him. He really seemed to care about them. He really seemed to be trying. So she could loosen up and cut him some slack.... sometimes...
Besides he got her a gift and it's very rude... to be a brat about that. So out she went to the porch... and her whole face lit up.
"Oh my gosh!! Shes beautiful!!" The birthday girl wasted NO TIME approaching the horse slowly, letting it sniff her hand before she patted the neck.
"Thank you... Klaus... this is amazing! Do I get to keep her?"
I met a new fren called Charlie on my walk today. She’s very cute. We played a fun game together. It was a great walk! Hope everyone is having a pawsome weekend 🐶💙 Luv Rocky
For as long as I have walked the face of the earth and how unlikely we were to ever meet, I stumbled upon you at what was perhaps the lowest, humblest depths I had ever reached. I was a shell of a man. A husk of a monster. My family had finally turned their back on me, justice finally served, but the would was deep nonetheless.
It was the only time I had truly contemplated the end. For endless centuries I had been driven to the edge of madness, and likely beyond, but I always had my family to fall back on.
When I met you Jenna, I had no one.
You trusted me when you definitely shouldn't have. You and the children invited me into your own broken little family. Perhaps things haven't been perfect, but you have been the instrument of my healing. Untwisting the parts of me I thought were permanent.

"Jeremy got dog hair all over my cheerleading uniform, and we do not own a damn lint roller. I asked him to stay out of my room. So- what's the best way to beat a werewolf?" (Dogtales)
