Time to show ya'll the Altercanons for The Smiling Critters!! :D
(I have already looong posted them on my twitter but again for the Tumblr peeps I will post them here! :3)
From Oldest to Youngest!

Bubba Bubbaphant!
The smart and probably the most mentally stable one out of the bunch (more on that later-) being the oldest isn't really easy when you've got 7 younger friends most of which love to go on rowdy fun adventures, nonetheless he is always with them every step of the way whenever he can! (Mostly because he needs to keep them from accidentally getting themselves killed 💀)
His Talent
Bubba is capable of creating balls of light and is able to change the intesity of light sources around him, in combat he can create lightbulb shaped items and throw them at to flashbang opponents, disorienting them and giving him the advantage, though this uses up his own energy and so he needs to think carefully about how many he creates, or else he will likely pass out.
KickinChicken!
The self-proclaimed cool guy of the critters. An daredevil who's always put looking for ways to have a lil fun, all the while making Bubba slowly lose his patience 😅 even though he may come off as an arrogant jerk to others, Kickin actually cares a lot about his friends and others more than he likes to admit! Just don't get on his nerves or he will make your life a living hell whenever given the chance!
His Talent
He can whip out three items of his choosing, whether it'd be a simple screwdriver or a flat out atomic bomb, all of which seem to follow a common theme 💀 though he is only lmited to three wishes and after using them all up he'd have to wait for an one hour cooldown before he can create more items again.
CatNap!
Not a very talkative critter, neither is he really stable in ANY WAY to begin with, he went suddenly missing once for 3 whole weeks and came back never the same, for 9 whole months has he never ate, drank or even slept, and it's only a matter of time before one day he finally collapses in on himself...
His...Talent???...
He is able create sleep-inducing red smoke, making whoever is nearby inhale it and fall into a Deep Sleep... (it doesn't kill them dn)
DogDay!
The leader of The Smiling Critters! And CatNap's best friend! This lovely sunshine is always ready for an adventure and bring a smile to everyone's faces no matter who they are! He is always standing up for what's right, willing to put his friends before himself.
His Talent?
His body glows a range of red to yellow whenever experiencing intense emotions, the hue and the temperature of his body depending on how intense the feeling is, if it is too intense his body is capable of burning the skin off of anybody who attempts to touch him.
PickyPiggy!
The nature-loving and diet obsessed one of the group, she absolutely loves the wonders of mother nature, even owning an vegetable garden herself! She loves to eat but always makes sure she stays healthy when doing so! Though sometimes she is so entranced by eating food that she often forgets to keep up with the others and finds herself confused, she always feels like she has an reputation to uphold considering her father is a well-known cook in Critterville, to make things even less easy she has 12 younger brothers to take care of!
Her Talent
She is able to take and storage items within an infinite pocket dimension like a personal inventory in her pockets, though she needs to have actualy pockets for this to work, luckily she knows how to sew!
Hoppy Hopscotch!
The physically active one of the group! And DogDay's beloved little sister! This rambunctious lil rabbit is willing to take on a challenge if it means having fun! Though she is really accident prone so she often gets herself hurt! (Pretty frequently actually-) but even so she doesn't know how to back down! While impatient and loud, she is happy to protect her friends from danger!
CraftyCorn!
The shy and soft-spoken one! She's pretty timid but has an incredible creative side to her! She loves to create all kinds of art but most specifically loves to draw! Even though she may not have had the best first start of her life, but after moving into Bubba's home and becoming part of The Smiling Critters, she realizes she feels right at home.
Her Talent
She is able to mend and shape paint however and whatever she wants it to be! Whether it is colorful wings of freedom or another way to paint, she needs to have paint at her disposal though.
She is also capable of magic of her own! But due to her previous living conditions she was never able to tap into her gift and discover the wonders of unicorn magic all that much, though luckily Bubba has enrolled her to equestrian classes to help her with that problem! <)
Bobby Bearhug!
The sweetest and youngest one out of the group! She was found alone outside near the Critters' treehouse, ever since then Bubba has taken her under his wing and has been taking care of her since, it is unknown what happened to her parents it has been assumed that they had just abandoned her.
Her Talent
She is able to sense the true intentions of a person's heart, helping her know who is worthy of trust or not, she is also able to sense the emotions of an individual though this can be physically and even mentally exhausting, making her needing to take frequent naps to gain her energy back.

Have been a time since i had made a full post for the cartoon critters, so time to give them some love
I present to you... The Smiling Critters's Family Tree
1- Dogday & Catnap - Queen Gaia
''Everybody call her your highness, but for us, mom is just mom''
Her introduction in the cartoon is a surprise for everybody, since nobody knew Catnap & Dogday were actually sibling (even when the two refer to the other as brother, they thought it was a best friend thing), even less knew they were princes! Queen Gaia is a calm, motherly figure, but after lost her husband in a war with another kingdom, she decide to hide her two babies from the public, and when they became old enough to have a pendant, let them live with their people in hope to teach them to overcome their weakness (arrogance in Catnap and cowardice in Dogday). Her original pendant was able to move both the sun and the moon, but she divide it to let her sons the responsability (the one she have now is a fake one, something important for the season finale of the cartoon)
2-Picky & Kickin - Mr. Piggy
''Our dad is the best!'' ''No comparation needed!''
Mr. Piggy isn't a recurrent character in the cartoon, making his debut in Kickin's birthday just to tell the story of how he found a egg with legs running around his farm (all the episode is basically a retell of the poor pigman trying to catch the egg while also having her daughter in his back). He's a good apple, loving dad that enjoy spend time with his kids, been cooking something with Picky (he teach her about healthy ingredients) or going fishing with Kickin (is the only calm activity Kickin can do without get bored). The Apple pendant was originally his, while the star pendant was found by the own Kickin.
3- Bubba - Mr. and Mrs Tiny
''I'm just... A tiny Bubbaphant''
The stork made a mistake, and Bubba end up with two parents that only shared with him the big ears, but not for this the Tiny couple stop loving their son, nor Bubba stop looking at his parents as the best he could have. Their debut is subtle, and they don't have a lot of relevance in the cartoon, but is funny to see them from time to time over Bubba's head in a event.
4- Bobby - The Bearhug Family
''Don't worry! They don't bite, i teach them not to''
Yep, Bobby come from a ''wild'' family. Their debut episode talk about the differences between a ''critter'' and a ''wild'' (basically, any real animal is a wild in this cartoon), been the whole episode a explication of how Bobby become the critter she's now (and how she got her pendant).
5-Hoppy - The Hopscotch sibling
''We're a team! A team that hops together stay together!''
There's no a debut of Hoppy's parents, but it's implied that they're still alive, just really busy. Meanwhile, her sibling show up from time to time, been as background characters, or with their our episode, been two: one where Hoppy is wants to participate in a sibling deportive event and can't find the perfect harmony with any of her sibling ('cause none of them are as sporty as her), and one where she need to babysit Huppy, but the lil' troublemaker end up causing troubles for all the critters. In the sibling event it explain that Hoppy got her pendant from her big sister, 'cause she wasn't able to control the power like it was suppose to.
6-Craftycorn - King Canvas
''I... had never been enough for him...''
No showing his full design yet, but only leaving something clear: he's a villain, having his debut in the season finale, but there's mentions of him around all the cartoon, incluying the implication of him killing Queen Gaia's husband. Craftycorn isn't a big fan of her dad.

Hi !! Sorry if you've answered this before i'm still a bit new to your blog, but i wanted to ask what is kickin and hoppy's dynamic/relationship like? Friendly competitive rivalry? Energetic chaotic duo? Or is it like more like a sibling dynamic thing? If so, do they have petty fights, and how often do they fight?

Thank you!! As for Hoppy and Kickin’s relationship, I always viewed them as friendly rivals with some sibling tendencies. They care about each other, but will tease the hell out of each other.
They will also absolutely resolve to petty means to get back at each other.

Facts about the crew:
I wanna infodump abt the critters in my au so here-
* Hoppy is Australian
* Kickin and Picky have southern accents
* Hoppy is on the volleyball team
* Kickin is on the soccer team
* Hoppy and Kickin race to school and class everyday
* Dogday is a social butterfly and the leader of the friend group
* Picky is the (sorta) mean older sister friend
* Bobby is the sweet mother friend
* Hoppy is the shortest while Bubba is the tallest of the friend group, Bobby is the second tallest
* Bubba is most likely to snap someday, either from pressure to maintain his grades or from keeping his friends from getting in trouble for the shit the pull
* Crafty is a huge Hatsune Miku stan and has a cosplay of her, she also knows how to sew and dance but she mainly dances in private
* Catnap and Crafty can sit together in silence for hours and not be bored
* Dogday has a crush on Catnap but the cat is oblivious
* Picky’s mother is a home baker
* Kickin and Bubba are deathly scared of spiders and mice
* Bobby has a wattpad profile where she posts very fluffy love stories
* Catnap is selectively mute and rarely speaks and Dogday is the person he talks to the most and also is the one who understand him
* Craftycorn and Catnap have autism, they both are on different sides of the spectrum. Dogday and Hoppy have ADHD. Hoppy was diagnosed earlier than Dogday

* Picky is an only child but shares a sisterly bond with Craftycorn, often accompanying her to conventions in a simple cosplay of applejack or Jessie from Toy Story
* Everyone knows about Dogday’s feelings for Catnap, except Catnap. They all agreed to not talk about as to not upset Dogday or rush him
* Dogday has an older sister, who used to practice makeup on him when he was a child. So if you ask her kindly she will be more than happy to show you a picture of toddler Dogday with glittery eyeshadow and lipstick making a duck kissy face.
* Catnap lives with his adopted father, who is pretty laid back and lets Catnap live his own life. He’s also very exhausted from work but will still listen to Catnap if he’s having some trouble

- you very much loved your 3 adorable floof ball of joy, as a cat mascot, you do have cat behaviour implant in your system so do all the critters whose modelled after different animals which mean they get a set of animals instinct or behaviour implanted into them.
- After the cartoon show was a instant hit, many people began to buy the smiling critters plushie. You goes by Mewpuff, modelled after a fluffy white cat which mean you have thicker furs then the rest and scented after a daisy flower.
- your babies, kat. The eldest sibling of the two is just a clone of yourself in Baby form, the second, the middle baby is named Cathy is a mix between you and catnap, And the youngest is named kit is basically a clone of catnap.
- kat and Cathy often have a sort of rivalry siblings relationship but there time it get so bad that you have to stop before it get serious. But they had show loving and caring attitude to their youngest.
- catnap seem to be dearly fond of the kittens, often letting them whatever they wanted and loves to hang around them and babysat if you have some urgent matter to do.
- catnap would do anything for these precious babies, it's his cat instincts afterall.
- you and catnap aren't lovers, but seem to stay on a close-friend relationship which is not what the higher-ups wanted since they created you as a lover for him.
- all of the rest of the smiling critters adored your sweet but mischievous kittens. Bobby bearhug often volunteer to baby sit them alongside with dogday and catnap.
- they're soooo precious and cute! She just wanted to cuddle them all day and feel their fluffs.
- pickypiggy often make sure the kittens always be fed and healthy, although she will sneak in some treats while you're not looking.
- kickin'chicken sometime beg you for your kittens to play sport with him which gave you a headache since it could be dangerous for your little babies, however after some thoughtful thinking. You agreed in the end.
- craftycorn sometime teaches your kittens on how to draw, color and make arts out of it! While bubba bubbaphant teaches your kittens subject to ensure they are smart when they grow up!
- dogday and hoppy hopscotch sometime is the one can only be one on pair with your kitten energetic behaviour when they are on high on sugar from pickypiggy sneaking sugary sweet without you looking again.
- dogday loved to play with them and often be the third caretaker aside from catnap to babysit your kittens when you are exhausted or not available for weeks.

oh, I have an idea. What if SmilingCritter!reader was Catnap's sibling? I suppose we would be a cat too, just a different color.
And there is a lot to discuss here: how would other Smiling Critters treat us? What functions would we perform? How would Catnap treat us? How different would our relationship be with him if we were the younger sibling or the older sibling? Would our brother try to convince us that the Prototype would save us all? How would he react if we refused to join the Prototype? What if we were helping the Player, how would Catnap react? And if we joined him, what would happen?
In general, yes, I want to see Catnap as our brother 😁

SMILING CRITTERS WITH A READER WHO IS CATNAP SIBLING
SMILING CRITTERS
1. I'll start with what would be your function, I could see the reader as a secondary character who appeared at some point in the Smiling Critters series and the children liked them so much that the company decided to make them merch and more chapters of them.
• At first their only role was to be Catnap's sibling but they decided to give them a better role, being the oldest/youngest of the Smiling Critters.
2. "How would the other Smiling Critters treat us?"
• Dogday trusts you and has a lot of respect for you (double for being his best friend's sibling)
• Picky, Kickin and Hoppy simply see you as a friend-acquaintance
• Bobby adores you and loves hanging out with you.
• Crafty likes to spend time with you and is amused when you tell her stories about the young Catnap(If he even went through childhood—)
• Bubba respects you a lot and likes when you tell things about Catnap (btw Catnap is listening to the conversation with the gloomiest face in the world (he's just nervous))
3. "Would Catnap convince us that the Prototype will save us all?"
• he definitely would, it depends on the situation if you are a younger or older sibling.
• If you are the oldest, he would convince you even if he probably fails (I mean, you are older and smarter than him so you are smart enough to know that the Prototype won't save anyone)
• If you are the youngest, he will convince you little by little, even getting you a little closer to the Prototype, teaching you that you should not be afraid of it.
• He tells you day and night that the Prototype will save you just like it did with him.
4. "How would he react if we rejected the Prototype?"
• I repeat, it depends if you are older or younger.
• If you are older, He will get upset and try to attack you just like the other Smiling Critters.
• You will be imprisoned in a different prison than the others, having a somewhat more comfortable place and with a strap on your neck that allows you to move to a certain extent.
• He will continue to encourage you to believe in the Prototype, he will not kill you but he will hurt you a lot.
• If you are younger, he will think that you are just upset about something and will continue to encourage you to a certain extent, At some point you will also be imprisoned, only you have even more benefits than being older, he convinces you in different ways and sometimes even whispers in your sleep to join in (you'll probably think you're going crazy and your sanity will be screwed)
5."How would Catnap react if we helped the Player?"
• He feels sad for your betrayal of him but that sadness suddenly changes to enormous anger, he gave EVERYTHING for you and for him AND YOU BETRAY HIM!?
• He becomes more aggressive and makes more appearances, in some areas you could hear Catnap whispering "traitor..." to you.
• He doesn't care if you're his sibling, not anymore.
• Whether you are older or younger than him, he will continue trying to kill you and will not listen to you.
6. "How would he treat us?"
• It depends on some things
• If you were very close, later he will be a very protective brother even if you were the oldest, he likes to spend time with you and talk about the Prototype.
• But if in the past you didn't talk much, he would treat you with indifference and if the Prototype asked for it, he would kill you or torture you like the other Smiling Critters.
• since you never spoken to him so often, he only sees you as another toy, he doesn't care in the least that you are his brother, even if you beg him he will kill you anyway and without caring.
7. "How would Catnap treat us if we were the oldest or youngest?"
• If you are the oldest, he will treat you with respect and approach you when he is scared (before meeting the Prototype)
• When he met the Prototype and the "hour of joy" is over, he will be somewhat more distanced from you but he still protects you from the darkness, even if you are the oldest.
• If you are the youngest, he will be very protective and will always be close to you to make sure that no one hurts you.
• He will keep you away from other toys to protect you, he won't even let you near the Mini Critters, much less Dogday, he says he will brainwash you.
8. "How would he react if we accepted the Prototype?"
• He is happy that you finally accept the Prototype, daily he takes you with his "statue" of the Prototype that he has so that you both can "pray" to it (I don't know how to explain it)
• He will ask you to go see Dogday, even if in the past you were a couple or very close friends, he will specifically ask you to see him.
• it is to give you an idea of what happens to those who reject the Prototype.
• Don't even think about crying in Catnap's presence, he'll think you're just a weakling and not strong enough to serve the Prototype.

This isn't art technically speaking but here's a Smiling Critters Relationship Chart that I wanted to try out after seeying a cool template by @valentinbelleyh505! The colors are a mess so I will try to explain it properly-
- DogDay: as the leader of the Smiling Critters, it's a must that he gets along with everyone! He has a closer relationship with Bobby and Catnap, the latter being his best friend. Though he also gets along pretty well with Bubba and Kickin' so they might gather up to be a somewhat chaotic yet charismatic trio at times.
- Bobby Bearhug: she loves everyone with no exceptions! The critter whom she gets along the most with is Hoppy and she is somewhat interested on Catnap. Not romantically, but she does care about him specially.
- CraftyCorn: despite her shy demeanor, Craftycorn manages to get along with everyone in the group, even though she and Kickin' might clash at times due to his attitude. She really admires Dogday as their leader and gets along with Catnap fairly well, given how the two of them struggle more when it comes to socializing but also enjoy their moments of peace and quiet which they spend together at times. As for her relationship with Bubba it is mostly admiration, but she also has a little crush to him which, of course, she wouldn't dare to confess herself.
- Hoppy Hopscotch: she is probably the most extroverted member out of the bunch along with Dogday, even through she has some dissgreements with her friends at times... Specially Kickin', but they have some sort of love-hate relationship. Though she is kind of oblivious when it comes to romantic feelings. However, that doesn't stop her from showing affection! As she will be there for Bobby as long as she needs, sharing a sister-like bond. And surprisingly, she gets along very well with Catnap, even if their energies and personalities are completely different. But sometimes she could use some calm and he could use some more energy and enthusiasm.
- Catnap: even though he is mostly an introverted soul who spends most of his time sleeping away, the feline doesn't fail when it comes to being in good terms with everyone. The girl whom he gets along with the most is CraftyCorn, given their similar personalities and their struggles. Even if she suggests a fashion or modeling session, Catnap will never mind to join around! He also respects Bubba greatly, seeying him as a wise and big-brother figure, his knowledge of the world will never fail to amuse him. And of course, Dogday is his very best friend, the one he can be the most open to as they understand and support each other no matter what.
- PickyPiggy: with her easygoing attitude, she has mostly good relationships with everyone! Even though her hunger can get the best out of her at times... She really admires CraftyCorn and her artistic abilities. (The neutral relationships are also based on the dynamics their Bigger Bodies versions will have, but I still have to design them so I will elaborate on her relationships later on).
- Kickin'Chickin: even if he might be too much at times, Kickin' is someone who easily gets everyone's aproval! The critters he gets along with the most are Dogday and Bubba, specially the latter as they sorta have a sibling dynamic. And even though he sometimes has a hard time understanding Catnap, they get along just fine. He has a huge crush on Hoppy, but he's too stubborn to admit it so he teases her instead and that leads to frequent arguments. Kind of like an Alvin & Brittany dynamic.
- Bubba Bubbaphant: he's pretty much like the big brother of the group, always willing to help everyone and provide the needed knowledge... Even though he can ramble at times- His closests relationships are with Kickin' and Craftycorn, and he has a secret crush on her that he doesn't speak about since he assumes that she likes Dogday instead. However, he doesn't hold any grudges against the dog for it and instead respects him dearly.
And another take with my OC LoolaLamb! (I will make a good picture and description for her I promise;;) even though canonically/in-game the only critters she would have interacted with properly would be Dogday and Catnap
BUT long story short-
- Dogday: even though she is not a part of the main Smiling Critters, Loola admires Dogday's personality and empathy, seeying him as a role model. She does have a little crush on him but she is afraid to mistake it with a simple affection at times. He does reciprocate her feelings but doesn't know how to grasp or classify such emotions to begin with.
- Bobby Bearhug: due to her loving and affectionate personality, LoolaLamb would feel great comfort around Bobby. She would definitely see her as someone she could trust.
- CraftyCorn: her and Loola would get along given their love for artistic representations. Sometimes they would sit down and write songs together.
- Hoppy Hopscotch: perhaps the energetic rabbit would be a little too much for the lamb, but she would admire her outgoing personality quite a lot.
- Catnap: their relationship is mostly neutral, though Catnap didn't like her much at first as he was afraid that she would replace him (let's just say there was an alternative universe in she didn't). But despite that Loola would be interested on meeting him further if given the chance.
- PickyPiggy: they wouldn't interact too much, but Picky is definitely fond of Loola! And perhaps would ask her to sing quite ofter, much to the lamb's dismay given their lack of confidence at times.
- Kickin'Chicken: the very first time they met and he knew that she could sing, he inmediately challenged her to a musical competition- She found it a little foward and intriguing at first, but in the end Loola ended up finding his attitude quite amusing, he makes her laugh.
- Bubba Bubbaphant: LoolaLamb would see Booba as some sort of authoritarian figure given his extensive amount of knowledge, but she would respect him a lot for that. As to him he does find interest in her musical abilities, but they wouldn't interact as much as the others.

A flower angel
Growing up was difficult for you. You never knew your parents and had a difficult childhood. You pretty much live with your grandmother. You had two other siblings both are twins. And yet, you. Your the runt in the litter. Weak and fragile and yet kind and sweet. You have a kind soul of what people would say. You were fragile and beautiful like a fragile flower. People often found you sweet and gentle.
You live in a small village away from the city. People in the village know you from that point on. You were pretty much popular there due to your kind and gentle soul. And of course you never been to school. Your grandmother never had the money to afford you to school. So you mostly spend your time in the flower field reading all sorts of kind of books. You spent your free time learning, reading, and helping your loved ones. But you have a problem. You have social anxiety. Your the shy and weird type of people your age say.
You struggle with communicating and cooperate with other people your age. They often make fun of you. But you are kind to those who are older than you. And that with said, you have zero friends except for the elders. Well, you did try to make friends but, you always get laughed on and then you would run off crying. Nevertheless your kind and good kid.
Some people found you being weird. For example, first, you talk to animals like they are a person. Second, you always pick and make flower crowns. And three, you always bring books to the flower field. That's what made them think your weird.
They often asked you why do you always go run off to the flower field with a full basket of books. And for you. You always answer, ‘Because it's fun!’. Yeah, they found it weird.
Nevertheless, Your a good, kind, and sweet granddaughter that your grandmother could ever had.

“Grandma, I'm off to the flower field!” You shouted from outside the door.
“Alright, be careful dear!” Your grandmother shouted.
Hearing your grandmother shouted back. You went off to the small forest to go to the flower field. Holding your basket of books and snacks, you continue to walk through the small path of the small forest leading to the flower field not quite far.
You walk through the small forest path. Listening to the wind gushing the leaves making a pleasant sound and some birds chirping happily. You were the nature type. You love going through a scroll in the small forest as it leads through the flower field.
After a while of walking. You Finally arrived at the flower field. You started to smile. You began to run through the field going straight at the small hill with a tree on top of it, in the middle of the field.
After putting your basket down near the tree. You got up and stared at flowers as some flower petals got blown by the wind. You smiled at nature's calmness. Your white dress gets blown a little by the wind.
‘Nature is really beautiful... It wouldn't hurt to run around, right?’ you thought.
Nevertheless, you began to run around the flower field like a child. You run around, picking some flowers, and make flower crowns by colour order. Red, orange, green, blue, sky blue, purple, and pink. Nature is really calming and you even got back from being child even tho you're an adult, but you didn't care at all.
You continue to finish the last the last flower crown till a slight tap on the shoulder startled you. You let out a small ‘Eek!’ and turned around to see who or what it was. Upon turning around and looking up from the legs of someone. You look to see a red bear smiling at you.
You both stared to each other. Your blue eyes widen a bit.
‘Who... And what... is this?’ you thought.
“U-um... H-hi?” you said scared and nervously.
“Hi there! Sorry for startling you! But, I'm bobby bearhug!” She smiled.
You hesitated to response back, but she was nice to you and didn't she didn't do anything bad to you. Oh your too kind hearted Y/N
“M-my... Name is.. Y/N..” You said sheepishly.
“Nice to meet you, Y/N! And again! I'm sorry for starting you..” She sat beside you and smiled.
You smile and shook your head.
“No.. Not at all.. just didn't know that someone.. like you be here..” You look up to the sky and then back to bobby.
“What.. are you tho?” You questioned.
“Oh! I'm a bigger body toy! But kinda more human like, you know?” She smiled sheepishly.
“I won't really lie but, your quite beautiful for bigger body toy... And yet, You look like a.. rose you even smelled like one..” As the seconds pass by you didn't felt scared but felt... Safe and calm.
Bobby was kinda shock to hear that from someone even from a human. She smiled happily and pulled you into a bear hug.
“Ooh! Your too kind, Y/N! And your beautiful too!” She said.
You didn't know the upcoming bear hug but, you didn't mind this moment. You hugged back sniffing bobby at some point.
‘She really is like a rose...’ You thought.
You both pulled away from the embrace and started to laugh and chuckle. You both then bonded and talking about eachother. You gave her a red flower crown as you both chatted, eating snacks, and read books with each other.
’This is.. what a friend is like...’ You thought.
It was almost sunset as the sun was nearly coming to settle.
“Its getting late... My grandmother would be worried if I can't get home in time...” You said.
“Same. Well then...” Bobby stands up and then helping you up.
“I'll see you tomorrow! And then we can talk about our days!” She said. You nodded and smiled.
“Thank you...”
“Thank you for what, Y/N?”
“For being my new friend!” You smiled so happily. You pulled her into a hug as she also hugged you back.
“No problem, girl! And I also thank you for being a new friend to me too!” She chuckled.
You both pulled away from your hug and started to depart in your ways. You wave her goodbye with a wide happy smile. As she gladly waved back and went off.
‘I can't wait till tomorrow!” You both thought.
You walked home and arrived at your porch before the sun had settled. You open your door and saw your grandmother with a worried and concerned face, but it turned into a surprise and shocked face to see you smiling happily.
“Y/N, dear? What got you smiling like a happy kid?” she chuckled as her face turned to somewhat happy.
“I made a new friend, grandmother! She was kinda and sweet too!” You said.
You both went to the dinner table and started to eat as you told your grandmother about your new friend. She was happy to see her granddaughter finally had someone to be happy with. The night never became so long and happy as you ramble at your grandmother.
“She must be a great friend to have.” Your grandmother spoke.
“She was!” you chuckled out happily.

Smiling Critters AU No.7: Dogday
NOTE: THIS IS NOT RELATED TO CANON IN THE SLIGHTEST. An accurate description of this au is that I took every playtime.co poster art and promotional material from the game and lit up the rest of canon in a bonfire. This means that EVERY character is part of one big cartoon. That's it. No bigger bodies project, no child souls, no experiments, just a depiction of a cartoon. PLEASE do not ask me to do anything suggestive with anyone.
Here's our final main character, THE main character's introduction, dogday!!
OK, so I'm my general ideas post I specified that dogday is the new kid, but the reason for that is he was tutored for the time being....at an orphanage.
Yeah, no parents in sight here either. Difference being that dodgay has never had parents, he was abandoned week one. Ever since then, he's lived in an orphanage.
However, dogday has always been a 'sunshine child', so to say. Always seeing the good side of situations, as we know. Even though the other kids at the orphanage don't really talk to him, as while he never knew his parents, they lost their parents and their normal life. Dogday can recognize this, and they leave each other alone unless necessary.
Anyways, due to being tutored as well as reasons stated above, he didn't really have any friends. But he kept positive.
Eventually, he managed to convince his caretakers to let him go to an actual school.
OK, here's an oversimplified of how he befriended the other critters:
Craftycorn: gave her the much needed push into her talent of art, planting the first seed of rebellion from her shitty ass parents, set up the after-school meetings
Bubba and kickin: managed to pass their friend filter test, invited them to the after-school meeting
Hoppy: really just appeared after school and said, "yall chill" so she joined
Bobby: Also appeared after school and liked the group, offered to bring snacks and it became routine
Picky: invited via bobby
OK, now we pick up where we left off yesterday: Catnap.
And so, the next time bobby met up with catnap, she brought dogday with. She had to go to take care of her siblings this time around, leaving the two of them. So, dogday tried to start up a conversation, which ended up more like a one-sided ramble. Everybody in the group was very animated, so someone to just sit and talk to and they would just listen was very refreshing. A few meetings later, dogday assured bobby that if she had to do other things, he would be more than happy to accompany catnap. Catnap also seemed to be a little bit more lively. By that I mean instead of the blank stare he'd give Bobby, he listens to dogday with a slightly amused or interested glisten in his eyes. When interacting with Dogday, he never had to be unsubtle with his response. Bobby was very awkward when trying to talk to him, usually waiting for a response, but with dogday, just a simple eyebrow twitch or grunt would be enough to prompt him to continue. Even though catnap had never spoke to him directly, it still felt like a conversation.
One day, during one of their exchanges, dogday accidentally brought up the fact that he lives in an orphanage. Dogday clammed up as he saw Catnap's face widen in mild suprise, and then was confused and surprised when he saw his mouth turn upwards slightly. He got up and gestured for dogday to follow him. They went deeper into the forest and reached catnaps shack house thingy. Dogday asked if this is where he goes to hang out sometimes. Catnap shook his head. He then asked if this was where he lived. A nod. Catnap moved over to a corner of the room and showed dogday a picture of his parents. Dogday asked if they were still around, and catnap shook his head. Catnap then sat down on the floor and used one if his gestures to signicate that he was listening, essentially asking if he wanted to talk about his own. Dogday went on about how the only thing he knows about his parents are that they left him. It turns into a vent once he starts asking himself if he did something wrong, or were they just terrible people, or maybe he just wasn't worth their time. He was already on the verge of crying and was about to say something along the lines of "but it's ok" to try and 'cheer himself up, but was suddenly tackled in a hug from catnap. And for the first time since he met him, he spoke to say that it wasn't OK. That's when the dam broke, and they both sat there hugging while dogday cried.

Additional notes:
- before you ask yourself, "Are they shipping them" I genuinely don't know if I want to or not. Sun and moon characters are just kinda like that sometimes and I certainly didn't help it ngl. If you want to see this as a ship post, go ahead, but it's not canon here
- I love the trope where polar opposite characters make each other see the other side of things in a similar situation so yk I had to rid them both of familial love :D
- I never specified, but catnap did not go to school. Like at all. He does, however, know how to read, write, speak, and do basic math. You ask him what 12 x 94, and he'd give you the answer, but if you ask what's the powerhouse of the cell is, he'd give you a "wtaf r u talking abt" look. (Poor soul doesn't even know people added the alphabet to math......actually he's lucky ngl)
Anyways I'm gonna give an aftermath post that includes the end of the school year, then introduce side characters, THEN I can finally get into actual content. Sorry my schedule and motivation varies alot so I apologize for inconsistencies. Byeeee

I'm seeing age differences in those relationship charts-
But are those Real age differences, or are they part of their "Character" and not when they were actually made.
I'm assuming the latter because of them "remembering" the cartoon as you've put it- but the idea that they actually had real childhoods (one not just written up on some script) and were kids is both adorable and also very depressing.
Thinking about it, realizing you're an artificial being that was made directly into an teen/adult with only fake memories and stories from a tv show is some prime existential dread. I mean that seem like it could be one of the few things that could truly break the critters- especially for Catnap who seem adamant that there is a world to go back to, only to be faced with "that world- those memories were never real".
That kind of angst seems ripe for picking!
Alright - Combining these together.
Let's start off with a height chart and ages for the Critters! (Plus Angel), and this would be in feet - and yes these are the heights I am trying to keep consistent.

Okay, more under the cut!
So
Let's start with our Anon. You are so right. I really want to make these guys have varied bodies, just like I did whenever I draw the FNAF animatronics. So it makes it tricky for me to keep the cartoon proportions, as I just want to lean into anthro proportions. But I strongly agree with you!
Okay. Moving on.
The ages for the Critters are based off of two things. My preference for having some older style toons - and I imagine these are based on their creation and not their ages on the show. I imagine the show kept them ageless, but around the same year.
DogDay is our oldest, because I believe whoever created them in universe first thought of him before the other critters. I think the creator of the show originally meant to just have a small show with just DogDay, Bubba, and Picky - for whatever reasons. (She just gives off older vibes to me). Over time, the others were added in for various reasons.
Hoppy is our youngest, as I like to think she was a last minute addition to the team to balance them out.
These ages are just what I have listed, but I think none of the critters really view themselves having the same age. I think if you were to ask any of them, their first answer would be at least twenty five. Five years working in PlayCare, ten after the Hour of Joy, and they would simply shrug off the rest.
Then there's Angel, who started working for the company at the age of twenty three. Stayed for three years, then left.
As for childhoods? They have a false one written into each of their characters. Excuse me while I ramble on about what the backgrounds they were "programmed" with.
DogDay was an only child and rather lonely. He decided to take that loneliness and work that much harder to befriend others and create meaningful relationships. He approached each critter one-on-one, and after that? He'd try to hold on to anyone he clicked with. He has so many false memories of his family and his time with his friends before the show's "start". Though... If he actually thinks about it, he starts to question why he never had any pictures of these memories. However, once brought into the "real" world, he adjusted to this realization.
Bubba was the first to be approached, though he knew DogDay when they were children. They grew up together, and DogDay really helped him get past his awkward phase. He spent so much time trying to focus on learning, fascinated by everything he could read about. DogDay helped him come out of his shell and befriend others. He was the first to realize his memories were fake and adjusted incredibly well. As far as he saw it - yes. They weren't "real" creatures in the show, but existing in PlayCare? They were alive. Did the past really matter when the present was far more important?
Picky grew up with a massive family. She is the eldest of her siblings and had always taken on a caretaker kind of role. She happened to meet DogDay towards the end of their childhood, an was confused when this excited dog insisted on dragging her over to meet a rather shy elephant. She found them both to be weird, but she warmed up to them quickly. She struggled with the realization that her memories were fake. After all, this meant that the family she had, the siblings she loved so deeply and cared for... None of that existed. To cope, she ended up taking care of the kids that much more. She was going to heal her sorrows by making new memories.
CatNap happened to wander in to town on their own, deciding to make a life for themselves - despite their young age. They was probably three days into their solitude when DogDay discovered them in a tree. CatNap was confused and insisted that DogDay leave them be, but the pup wasn't backing down. Eventually, he convinced them to come down and join him and Bubba for a picnic. Though CatNap and Bubba didn't get along at first, CatNap and DogDay were inseparable after that day. They discovered their memories were false due to their recall. They poked their head around the councilor's office and discovered too much, and CatNap just couldn't handle it. They still don't believe all of those memories were fake, and they just want to cling to those nonexistent days.
Bobby moved into town with her family, a middle child with three older siblings and one younger adopted sibling. She happened to run into DogDay during a Valentine's Day celebration. She had taken charge of the decorating, and was impressed that DogDay not only wanted to help, but enlisted his friends to help too! This is how she met Bubba, Picky, Kickin and CatNap in their teen years. She couldn't thank them enough and was the first to suggest a weekly meetup for them. She still has not realized these memories are fake, but she is suspicious of some details and has her doubts.
Kickin is the youngest child in his family, adopting a cool persona to help his self esteem issues. He didn't meet the others until later on, in the end on their childhood and the start of their teen years. He met CatNap first on accident, catching the cat being cornered by some larger critters. Despite being so tiny, Kickin' jumped in to defend the cat, and though the two didn't fair well, they immediately bonded. CatNap soon introduced him to DogDay. Though they liked each other, Kickin' always felt the need to one-up him. A rival. He has not realized the memories are fake, but he has no idea.
Crafty was an only child, but incredibly gifted. She happened to find herself in town to study, though she had a small desire to follow her art. She often spent time alone, finding a quiet spot to occasionally doodle between her studies. It was during one of these days when she met DogDay - who had no concept of personal space and leaned on her, asking her what she was drawing. Of course, this scared the hell out of her. Afterwards, DogDay apologized and insisted that he make it up to her by inviting her to the group's weekly hang-out. When Crafty met the others, she was amazed by how welcoming the other Critters were. She then began to start coming up with ideas on friendship charms and was the one to propose the idea. Everyone voted on what type of charm best suited the others. She is deep in denial that her memories are false, but deep down? She thinks she's always known.
Hoppy was the last to join the group. She met DogDay during a sporting event - as he was there to root for Kickin' (and CatNap, though CatNap spent the game sleeping on the benches). He was impressed by her sportsmanship, and she found his sunshine behavior pretty funny. They clicked almost immediately, so he grabbed her hand and quite literally dragged her to the others. While Hoppy didn't get along with the others that quickly, she stuck around. Because Hoppy was a last minute addition to the show, her memories are the most fragmented. It stresses her out if she dwells on it, so she ignores it.
CatNap's insistence on returning to their cartoon is probably the one thing that deeply angers DogDay as well. In the cartoon, they didn't have freewill. They could not feel things outside of their script - at least, not to the same extent. In the "real" world, DogDay felt they could finally be themselves. That they could truly be alive, even though they were technically prisoners to Playtime Co.
DogDay couldn't express his love for the others in the cartoon. His friends couldn't be as happy - like Bobby and Hoppy. They could never be together in that world.
So, hearing CatNap demand that they just give up their freedom? Yeah. This is probably one of the only things that they fought about.

Some quick thoughts about Poppy Worldwide/Angel Saves Everyone AU and Easter before I have to go back to doing assignments:
Catnap is extremely excited, to say the least. He's a devout catholic after dropping the Prototype worship, and is VERY excited for the world's most iconic comeback, according to his own religion, and to make the mini critters hunt for eggs.
Bunzo is the 2nd most excited for the whole thing, not because he's religious but because he has a sweet tooth, is a bunny, and has an excuse to run around and look for things. He dresses up as an easter rabbit and is SO ready for the egg hunt to start, he was born for this.
The toys divide themselves into teams in order to hunt for eggs, with Angel hiding everything the night before. After their first easter together, Prototype helps them with this.
Dogday is EXTREMELY good at egg hunting to the point Catnap himself becomes a bit jealous of him. Angel makes a rule from day 1 that they aren't allowed to be in the same team, otherwise it would be unfair to everyone else. They're dissapointed by this but have to accept that what is fair is fair.
Catnap goes to Church after everyone has lunch, and comes back around early evening. The mini critters and Dogday always give him lots of chocolate, even if Theo himself isn't thaaat big of a sweet tooth.
No one was expecting Miss Delight to also be excited for egg hunts, and she's SO good at them. She and Picky team up and end up running away from Bunzo and Wuggy because they RAN to pick the eggs the little ones were about to get.
Poppy was excited until Catnap looked at her and said he doubted she could get many eggs. Sibling rivalry exploded during that moment as she was determined to prove him wrong. Kissy of course helped her.
Hoppy and Boxy Boo pull pranks on others for fun. Kickin and Mommy Long Legs always fall for them and are FURIOUS.
Speaking of which, someway somehow Kickin and MLL teamed up for the egg hunt and ended up in 2nd place, with Dogday and Bobby winning. Catnap and the mini critters ended in 3rd place, with Poppy + Kissy in 4th. Last place was Bubba and Crafty because they were distracted infodumping to each other about the flowers they were finding. Delight and Picky didn't win because they were too busy annoying Bunzo and Wuggy (affectionate).
Despite the hunt, the toys all share the eggs, not seeing a reason to not do otherwise outside the competition.

🧸 to all the critters! I wanna know!
Bubba - Books, Bubba's ultimate comfort object is books. There's nothing he loves more than snuggling down into a comfy place, like a beanbag in his library or under the shade of the tree. he can just open his book and slip into another world for awhile, his favorite books are books about space
Kickin - He has a little teddy bear from when he was a kid. In the cartoon I could see him taking it on overnight trips and camping episodes, in true kids cartoon fashion I imagine that the teddy talks to him but only he can hear it, only the teddy bear flops when someone comes in (like in Doc mcstuffins).
Catnap - Almost everything in his room can count as his comfort objects. but i think anything on his bed fits the bill more, his blanket, his pillows, the fact that his bed is shaped like a crescent moon (yes this is an actual thing and they're baby cradles but they're cute and they fit Catnap so-) second would be his mobile or his stuffed lion
Hoppy - Her soccer ball, nothing detresses her more than a good old game of soccer. She used to try and play soccer with her little siblings but they were never interested.
Bobby - Bobby's entire house is filled with heart motives and positive messages but if I were to pick a comfort object for her, I'd say a heart pillow that she sleeps on every on every night.
Dogday - Despite the implications that comes with it I feel like Dogday likes wearing dog collars. Maybe it gives him a sense of belonging or safety
Craftycorn - she seems like the type that collects rare art supplies and never uses them cause she likes admiring them, that being said I could see her taking comfort in old crayola colors like "Dandelion" or "Bluetiful"
Picky - I'm actually stumped on what her comfort item would be so my basic answer is her baby blanket or a bib that looks just like one she had as a baby

So I’m starved for Smiling Critters content, but I don’t exactly have a oneshot in mind to write nor do I exactly have an AU. I do, however, have some headcanons that are definitely canon divergent, especially since I imagined it in the cartoon-like world they were in during the tape recording. I don’t know if it’s enough to build up an AU, but I’m posting them anyways.
•Bubba is fluent in English and Portuguese, and is currently trying to learn sign language from Catnap
•Dogday has 2 sisters and 3 brothers, and he is also the runt of the litter (most of his siblings don’t really care, but one of his brothers likes to pick on him for it and is upset he got “special treatment” when they were younger — that special treatment was mostly just medical treatment and their parents and siblings being responsibly worried about him)
•Bobby and Picky share a favorite way of showing her friends love; by making them their favorite/comfort food for them
•Hoppy doesn’t usually like going slow, but she adores running with her two younger brothers to no end
•Bubba strongly believes Hoppy might have seasonal allergies due to her falling ill for a few weeks when winter turns to spring and pollen levels rise, but Hoppy has her suspicions due to the fact that she’s never been diagnosed to be allergic to anything
•Picky always looks at the nutrition labels at the grocery store
•Picky is thinking about starting her own garden
•Crafty prefers to draw rather than write, but enjoys a good book (she definitely doesn’t have a small library in her living room, I don’t know what you’re talking about)
•Crafty isn’t the best at magic, but she’s learning and her friends are very encouraging
•Bobby’s house is a cozy two story cottage that she keeps nice and clean on a daily basis
•Bobby and Bubba both have a closet in their house full of extra blankets, pillows, towels, and winter clothes
•Kickin’ loves to teach anyone who asks how to surf, how to skateboard, or how to ski
•Catnap almost never talks or makes any sound, but it’s not because he can’t, it’s because he simply prefers not to
•Kickin’ has a great sense of balance
•Catnap is a light sleeper
•Bobby and Catnap sometimes work together to get the group to bed, but in the end, Catnap “turns on her” and gets her to bed too before going to sleep himself
•Kickin’ and Dogday love to plan hiking or camping trips for the group (Hoppy has to stay within someone’s sight so she doesn’t run off, Bobby and Crafty like to stop and look at flowers, Picky likes to pack healthy snacks for everyone, Bubba enjoys telling facts about plants, and Catnap keeps an eye on the whole group by walking in the back)
•Catnap has a surprising amount of knowledge surrounding sleep, even Bubba didn’t know a lot of the things he did
•Bobby has made a plushie for everyone except Catnap, who already has a small, odd plushie resembling a blue creature with yellow hands and feet (Crafty has a flower, Dogday has a bone, Bubba has a dinosaur, Picky has a strawberry, Hoppy has a star, Kickin’ has a dragon, and Bobby has a heart)
•Bobby can actually be scary when she’s protecting her friends

BEHOLD…
MY MYTHSWAP AU!!!
So, in this Au, Crafty is the only non-mythical critter, while the other seven are all different kinds of mythical creatures!!!
Here’s each character here!!!
Even if Crafty is a plain ol’ pony in this au, they’re still just as important and loving as the others; in fact, they’re the ✨protagonist✨! They stumbled their way into the Realm of the Myths while taking a stroll as they thought about somewhere they could paint, before they met DogDay and Bobby in the woods. During their three years in the Realm of the Myths, Crafty’s been careful, they’ve been loved, and they’re learning more each day!
DogDay is a Werehound, but instead of every full moon, it’s every Solar Eclipse he turns into a monster, while every Lunar Eclipse, he’s your good ol’ normal sun dog!
His younger sibling, CatNap, is a Sphinx, well, except without the “human face” part, lol… Much like his brother, they, too, can turn into a monster, except it’s more at will, and mostly during waxing crescent moons!
Bobby Bearhug is an Onikuma, although, she did use to be an average critter, like Crafty. She, along with Picky, brings in food for the others every night. She stays close by with CatNap because when she became a demon, he was right there by her side… d’awww!
Kickin’ Chicken is a Cockatrice, and since it doesn’t really specify what kind of dragon the rooster has to be, he’s part leviathan! He’s an expert at surfing, and is basically the “rich, popular kid” trope (except he’s the sweetest to his friends!) He and Bubba were best friends ever since they were toddlers, and Kickin wouldn’t want their flame to extinguish any time soon! He even talks about many different themes whilst baking with his sister, so that he doesn’t get too bored.
Bubba Bubbaphant is a Siren (mainly because none of the mythical elephants didn���t really fit ToT), but instead of singing and testing the limits of his beautiful voice (/j), he infodumps about one’s interests to try reeling them in! The nerd’s a bit meaner in this AU, since ocean sirens are usually that way, but he can tolerate his friends!
Picky Piggy is a Boar; she’s pretty violent, but that doesn’t stop her from having fun with her friends! In fact, she uses her violent tendencies to her advantage whenever she cooks! She’s Crafty’s best friend, and she’s the one who made them their “horn” out of a party hat! Picky’s the (adoptive) older sister of Kickin, and she makes sure he’s healthy, both physically and psychologically! (What a sweet sister… sob…)
And last, but DEFINITELY not the least, Hoppy Hopscotch, the jumping Jackalope! She’s pretty mischievous, in fact, to the point where DogDay made her own Time Out Chair™️! She even steals all of the coffee sometimes, so that she can have more energy than when she’s normally hyperactive; but, she is patient whenever she needs to — in fact, out of all of them, she’s likely the most patient.
BTW!!! You can ship anything in this AU, but I have only 3 simple rules:
Nothing Problematic
Nothing that would be in Alabama
And each ship should be to each character’s romantic interest
For example, on what each critter is (of course, there are all headcanons):
