Idk Edred thinking he defeated The Evil™️ so easily and without much fanfare gives weight to the idea that The Evil™️ and this endless cycle of reincarnation is DESIGNED to be un-winnable.

Cuz what happens AFTER the warriors defeat The Evil™️ every cycle? Do they just….live a few more years? Because I doubt they give their vessels back their lives which may be why Edred wanted to prolong fixing Copernicus?

Because though I agree Dimitri is who is making it difficult for Edred to remember certain things like his past life w Melinda and certain information about their mission, it’s still doubtlessly EDRED at the helm.

It’s EDRED who considers Emma to be preventing him from being with Melinda. Like Mel, he tells Winston that Emma’s BODY “isn’t his anymore” —- if the warriors are only around long enough to defeat The Evil™️ every century or so, why would both Melinda and Edred be so cruel to Emma and Winston? Shouldn’t quasi immortal HEROES be more forgiving and generous to the vessels they inhabit? They’ll see each other again in a generation, won’t they?

Again, something about the reincarnation just isn’t right.

To me, it makes me suspect that the warriors just..:LIVE in these bodies they steal for a long while until their next death and rebirth. There’s no URGENCY to Edred wanting to defeat the Evil™️, no moment where he laments that his time w Melinda is brief this time around, nothing.

Because he’s still gonna be with Melinda provided he can properly expel Emma and have poor Winston fuck off. That’s why he’s not INTERESTED in helping Emma, like Winston asks him to here.

He’s interested in helping MELINDA. Because as soon as he does that, he gets to be with her for a few years, regardless if they have to be fighting The Evil™️ or not. It’s a…selfish incentive for the heroes to have. I think it’s MEANT to be selfish.

Emma, like Winston, points it out here that Edred left her to the wolves (haha) at the ship but is suddenly very caring now that Melinda is more prominent.

It’s one of the many ways they’ve shown to be out of touch, on top of not caring about innocent people they hurt and collateral damage, because they have the excuse of THE GREATER GOOD to act so recklessly and selfishly if all they want in return is to be together for a short while until the next cycle. Without caring whatsoever as to WHY the Evil™️ keeps coming back.

That’s also why Melinda is upset at Emma, she forced Melinda to confront Truama that she probably just represses between defeated the next Evil™️ and being the Edred. Again, I thinks the warriors are being encouraged to be so tunnel visioned about this.

Idk if any of this made sense but that’s why I think Edred presumably being so sure he Defeated The Evil™️ was so anticlimactic.

Okay so I got a little sidetracked with this wild AU.

So it starts with the Kiramman estate.

Jayce and his fiancé Mel have been invited to stay the summer as an opportunity to get to know one another better the summer before their wedding. It also gives Jayce the opportunity to say goodbye to his Childhood friend Caitlyn before she heads off to the officers academy.

Jayce’s soon to be marriage isn’t exactly a happy one. Mel laid out that it was a marriage of convenience for the both of them. Mel’s vast wealth is just what the Talis house needs, and Mel believes their business will be the leader of industry. She is an independent woman, and told Jayce that while they may never love one another they could be comfortable, and she would never shame their lives with a bastard she expected him to do the same.

Jayce was ready to fall in love with Mel, however her coldness upfront has made him weary. So while he is looking forward to spending time with Caitlyn he hopes that he and Mel could perhaps try to get along.

When he arrives at the manor there is a small ball to introduce all the house guests to one another. There he meets Dimitri, the youngest son of the direct competitor to Talis Hammers. He talks broadly of the frivolous items he has ‘invented’ and Jayce instantly dislikes him.

The ball is a little uncomfortable, as someone betrothed his dancing partners are limited, and Mel seemed more keen on making business connections. Jayce goes to the balcony to get some air and discovers someone else there. A man not invited to the festivities, Caitlyn’s tutor Viktor.

Through her letters Jayce always pictured a tottering old man, not someone close to his own age. They make small talk and it’s not long before Viktor decides to head back inside. But not before dropping his handkerchief. Jayce picks it up but finds that he too is being called away. The rest of his night is spent thinking of the intelligent young man he met.

Jayce asks after the tutor the next day, in the hopes of returning the handkerchief. Caitlyn points him to the study/school room. Once there the room is empty but filled with books and equations on chalkboards. His curiosity gets the better of him and he starts reading and adding to the math. Finally able to relax in an element that he is comfortable in. He’s so lost in thought he doesn’t realize Viktor has walked in behind him. After some light teasing the two talk more about science and math, until Dimitri shows up at the door to collect Viktor. The two part again and Jayce realizes that he still didn’t return the handkerchief.

Jayce goes hunting with Caitlyn, more like Caitlyn hunts whereas he watches, and the two talk more on Caitlyn’s upcoming training, and Jayce’s engagement. Unable to help himself, Jayce brings up Viktor. Caitlyn brings to light this is Viktor’s last season at the house. As she is the youngest Kiramman her family has no need of a tutor. Her family has tried to place him at another house but it’s been difficult, the family is hoping to convince another family to give him patronage over this summer, because after that he is on his own.

Jayce spends the day thinking of Viktor and wondering if there is anything he can do to help him. The next day he aims to return to handkerchief to Viktor, and exchange contacts so that he could potentially reach out to families he knows that could take him in.

Jayce is pointed towards the garden, and deep within the maze comes upon Dimitri and Viktor, alone in the gazebo. Talking about some rather sensual things. Jayce leaves them alone flustered, he comes to the conclusion that Dimitri is using promises of employment to pressure Viktor into meeting with him like this.

Jayce is perturbed the rest of the night, Mel notices Jayce was staring particular daggers into Dimitri during dinner, and asks about it. Jayce unable to help himself tells Mel everything. She tells him that the information is useful, but if he and Viktor have got on this we’ll do far wouldn’t it be better to ask him directly?

The thought of asking Viktor about this makes him nervous, so he instead corners Dimitri. Accuses him of exploiting Viktor, to which Dimitri laughs, what they have is mutual, but Jayce is correct by the end of the summer Dimitri intends to bring Viktor back to his estate. Dimitri is confident that Viktor will choose him and goads Jayce to try and take viktor away.

The next few days Jayce tries to chase down Viktor. But both their days are packs with things that divert their time. Caitlyn eventually throws Jayce a bone and tells him where Viktor’s bedroom is, while a little inappropriate the last time Viktor and herself were together, Viktor admitted that he would like to spend more time with Jayce. As someone who rarely admits that they are want of anything Caitlyn figures it’s not too scandalous.

That night Jayce visits Viktor’s bedroom, Viktor answers the door, disheveled in just his dressing gown, Jayce panics and says that he was there to return the handkerchief. After pressing him a bit Jayce admits that wasn’t the only reason, he came because he was worried about Viktor. Just then Dimitri emerges from the dark of Viktor’s room. Viktor is embarrassed, more so because Jayce is gentleman of some prestige, and tells Jayce they will talk about this more tomorrow.

Jayce meets Viktor in the classroom and the two talk. Viktor confirms that he and Dimitri are mutually attracted to one another, and unless someone else makes an offer for his teaching services he will be accepting the offer at Dimitri’s house. Jayce is devastated to hear this not only because he may never see Viktor again but because his role sounds like one of a kept boy and not something of substance. He knows Viktor is too brilliant to be set aside as just decoration.

The two exchange information, and Jayce once again tries to return the handkerchief, but this time Viktor refuses it. ‘Keep it. In case you need another excuse to come find me.’

Jayce that night uses the handkerchief for some private time and, horrifyingly realizes that he is in love with the other man.

The two spend more time together over the summer and grow really close. All the while Viktor spends the rest of his time with Dimitri. Near the end of the season the two build a working prototype of an assembly line and Jayce uses it as proof of concept to ask Mel to hire Viktor on staff at one of his factories.

However he learns it might be too late, without a concrete contract Dimitri whisks Viktor away to the train station early. In a mad dash Jayce makes it to the station to declare his intent to keep Viktor with him. To give him a place beside him, so they can continue to work together and grow.

Viktor walks off the train and on the carriage back to the Kiramman’s the two confess their love for one another.

When Caitlyn dreams, everything is on fire. There’s a clammy hand in hers in the dream. A wall opens into a dark tunnel. Then, there’s nothing.

She’s spent the better part of three days in strangers' arms. Unable to answer any of their questions. The ship rocks as the breeze blows her mint dress. She feels the crinkle of a wadded piece of paper in her pocket.

At least she can answer one of their questions, now. The bottom half of the paper is singed completely off. The edges are crisp under her fingers. She thumbs the raised indents of a golden crest in the top left corner. She doesn’t recognize it.

I'm going to break this down by storyline and the characters that want to answer.

Yes, Christmas is celebrated because 99% of those in the story were originally on Earth. Abriella loves to decorate. There are trees all over the palace in different colors with different themes. Cruz could care less, but helps his sister decorate because it makes her happy. Olly and Deacon are pretty much the same, but also like doing small things out in the garden for the small beings that live out there. Arch helps Olly and Deacon out in the gardens to decorate for the beings there. Most of the others decorate their chambers with something. Phaedra tends to go a bit overboard and Dez and Thinius get roped into helping her. Yael is more subdued, but Deacon and Leandre are helping her to try to find joy.

Caliban didn't really celebrate much in the past, but now that Adira is in his life, he's reconsidering. Adira wants to decorate the mansion, and Theron finds this hilarious and is helping her. Of course all four of her bodyguards are helping too. They are becoming partners in crime. Caliban is going to pick out a very special present for her and let her decorate if she wants, because it makes her happy...and he is going to give Theron tons of shit.

Christmas...Christmas EVERYWHERE!!!! Trees, wreaths, lights, you can see the mansion and grounds from space. Mel has even somehow gotten the gators to hold still with Santa hats for a photo shoot. The team helps because Mel's excitement is infectious and the other LaVeaus are just as into celebrating and decorations. Gifts are not necessarily expensive, but are VERY thought filled. Sometimes they are not even bought, but something made.

Aoife hasn't celebrated since her husband was killed.

Your characters go to another country on vacation together, what kind of tourists are they? Who wants to see all of the tourist attractions? Who spends too much on souvenirs? Who tries to learn any of the language before they go? Who tries to make sure everybody arrives at the airport 8 hours early?

Just tell me what they would all be like on a trip together!

Sorry I'm a couple of days late!! My brain tried to escape my skull! Thank you for your question!! I will answer for each of the stories I'm writing <3

THE IMPERIUM CHRONICLES

Abriella would be the "mother hen" making sure that no one got left behind, everyone was staying hydrated, and that everyone was having fun. Cruz would be "dad" and "bodyguard" keeping an eye out for anyone causing trouble. Phaedra and Dez would be the ones wanting to go, do, and see everything. No matter how small or corny the attraction, they're going to want to go. Anna or Leandre would spend the most on souvenirs because they don't buy the cheap ones. If they're going to buy something, they want quality. Anna has an Eiffel Tower that is diamond encrusted. He has a block handmade of Japanese calligraphy ink that cost over $300. Thinius is going to be the one that is going to be into the food and wants to go to all the places the locals frequent. No chain places for him. Delilah will be the one that wants a schedule and to make sure that they stick to it. Talon will be the one that keeps Delilah from having anxiety when they don't stick to the schedule. LOL Olly will be the one that arranges the transportation and makes sure that they have enough room for everyone. BOMBS, BODYGUARDS, & BROKEN ARTIFACTS

Nic would be tour guide who found everything out about the location they were going and presented all the options for things to do, and briefed everyone on all all the security concerns. Mel would be the one that wants to go to all the cultural sites like museums, theaters, zoos, or aquariums. Gabe would want to go to the sporting events. Cade would want to hang out by the pool or at the beach. Alexander would be the one getting everyone to wherever they're going absurdly early. Cam would be the one that would be on Google Maps constantly figuring out the closest place to eat. Dez would be the one checking out the bars and nightlife.

BENDING THE LAW

Colin would be the one that planned everything, and Colt would be the one to question everything. Challenging it. Abby would be the peacemaker and also the one that buys every cute souvenir that they come across. Karsten and Keegan would team up to totally throw Colin's plans out the window and figure out a way to go and do all the fun things in the area. Kal would try to avoid being drug along so he could just relax on the beach. Decker is going to find all the bars. Serena and Spencer are going to look into cooking classes to keep up on their knife skills. Aoife will distract Colin from arguing with Colt so Dimitri doesn't kill them all as he gets them to the airport absurdly early knowing that otherwise they'll miss their flight like last time.

In honor of Pride month, which of your characters are LGBTQIA+?

Okay, answering that...

Okay, first of all, ALL MY DRAGONS are both Intersex and Pansexual. But, on the eyes of the onlookers there's terms used in Astreia called 'perceived sex', 'preferred appearance' and 'preferred role', the first referring to what sex they seem to be when in human form (often "male", "female" or just "dragon"), and the second referring if they have a specific preference for one sex over the other when picking human lovers. The third is something only for dragons as they can prefer to be egg seeders, egg carriers or both (ambivalent).

Saying that you are percieved as a gender is different than identifying as that gender. Most dragons don't identify themselves as male or female nor care what pronouns people use for them. The term perceived means this is how people see them according to how the dragon chooses to dress, speak or appear, not truly caring if they're treated as male or female.

But let's talk about my characters:

Imortal

Mal - Pansexual, intersex, but perceived as male because it gives him advantages.

Arlo - Intersex, perceived as male. Has a preference for male sex and masculine builds, due to his sexual trauma (yes, some people, when they suffer sexual trauma, instead of growing an aversion towards the sex that caused it, they gain an attraction, sometimes almost to unhealthy levels);

Apollo - Intersex, but identifies as male;

Syra - Intersex, but identifies as female.

Alcina - Intersex, identifies as female and is a lesbian.

Dimitri - Asexual male.

Maeve - Bisexual woman.

Fannar - Intersex, non binary.

Izzy - Intersex, identifies as male.

Libby - Intersex, perceived as female, later transitions to be perceived as male.

The Pale Drake

Killian Hastur - Homossexual af.

Arian the Pale Drake - Intersex, non-binary, androginous and ambivalent.

Aleksai - Lesbian.

Cai - Trans man (fully transitioned into a fully functional male thanks to a spell).

The Night Jewel

Cei'Inlys/Night - Intersex, non binary, androgynous and ambivalent.

Enon - Homossexual af. In fact, so homosexual his mother plotted to have him killed so he couldn't inherited the throne.

Anton - Homossexual, and closeted. Don't out him, his mother is a homophobe and he will do her every biding.

Alsanna - Intersex, non binary, percieved as female. Has a thing for Melissy, spends half of the story thinking Mel is the most beautiful and elegant woman until she catches him undress. Then she gets pissed off over the fact Mel manages to look more elegant than her in a dress.

Alana - Intersex, identifies as female.

Melissy - Drag Queen.

Ο Πέπε Μελ πήρε στην αποστολή τον Βέλγο επιθετικό όπως και τους Μπάουμαν, Τοράλ που προπονήθηκαν κανονικά τις προηγούμενες ημέρες.

Ο Άαρον Ισέκα είναι το νέο πρόσωπο στην αποστολή του ΟΦΗ και μάλιστα θα κάνει ντεμπούτο στην 20αδα στον επαναληπτικό με τον Παναιτωλικό. Μέσα είναι και οι Μπάουμαν, Τοράλ ενώ αντιθέτως δεν συμπεριλήφθησαν οι Ντίκο, Πασαλίδης που πρόκειται ν’ αποτελέσουν παρελθόν.

Η ενημέρωση του ΟΦΗ

Με τον Aaron Iseka να συμπεριλαμβάνεται για πρώτη φορά στην αποστολή, ο ΟΦΗ ολοκλήρωσε την προετοιμασία του για τον αυριανό (31/1, 17:00) αγώνα κυπέλλου με τον Παναιτωλικό.

Η προπόνηση περιελάμβανε ασκήσεις κυκλοφορίας της μπάλας και ασκήσεις τακτικής.

Ο Pepe Mel επέλεξε να συμπεριλάβει στην αποστολή τους: Baumann, Σωτηρίου, Καλαφάτη, Larsson, Abanda, Thorarinsson, Λαμπρόπουλο, Bressan, Βούρο, Mellado, Glazer, Gallegos, Bakic, Αποστολάκη, Neira, Toral, Riera, Baku, Mosquera, Θεοδοσουλάκη, Iseka, Phellype.

à primeira vista, william pode parecer reservado e irritadiço, mas à medida em que vão lhe conhecendo melhor, as pessoas ganham acesso ao quase inocente modo de vida do rapaz. devido à conflitos internos, relações malsucedidas e falta de confiança, seu estado de espírito mostra-se menos esperançoso e mais resguardado – quando em condições regulares geralmente é mais positivo e crédulo nos outros. em palavras mais simples, a personalidade de golden retriever foi há um tempo engolida pela do gato preto, não tendo um prazo pra voltar até que o kang coloque sua vida no lugar e se cure no processo. é ágil, direto e sincero com as pessoas tal qual a confiança que seus olhos passam toda vez que diz algo, mas é mais difícil consigo mesmo, tendo tendência de culpar-se pelos próprios erros e escolhas. já foi mais apocalíptico, hoje em dia colhe as consequências de suas antigas decisões. criado de forma conservadora, é até mesmo surpreendente o fato de que antigamente não teve problemas em rebelar-se, mas hoje em dia a banda anda tocando outra música. tem um bom senso de humor quando quer, e apesar de não andar complacentemente mostrando os dentes por aí, todo sorriso que dedica a alguém certamente é genuíno. no mais, é um homem fiel à quem ama e admira – coisa que já lhe causou bastante problema, e ele nunca aprende.

sendo o segundo filho nascido estadunidense em uma família coreana que imigrara para tentar a vida no ocidente ao abrir um restaurante pequeno em uma rua estreita em morningside heights, a educação de hajun (ou william, como sempre preferiu ser chamado) fora priorizada, assim como quase toda família asiática do bairro fazia. ainda, de todas as palavras as quais poderiam descrever sua infância e pré-adolescência, "sufocante" seria a qual atualmente escolheria para fazê-lo, tendo em vista o que acontecera após ter sido descoberto por um olheiro enquanto jogava baseball com o time infantil da escolinha pública que frequentava. a família de william era grande; ele, seus avós, seus pais, seus tios, suas irmãs e seu primo moraram todos juntos por um bom tempo em um sobrado numa rua mais tranquila e modesta na divisa do bairro com o harlem, majoritariamente composta por famílias asiáticas na década de noventa. a aquisição do lar fora principalmente subsidiada pelas economias de mirae e jihoon, seus avós paternos, que pouco tempo depois encontraram uma outra casa em upper west side para curtirem as vantagens da terceira idade, deixando com os filhos e noras a escritura da casa para que a dividissem. dessa forma, tocavam juntos o restaurante coreano e repartiam os lucros que o estabelecimento gerava, mesmo em tempos de crise.

mal sabia o jovem garotinho de sete anos que sua vida mudaria no momento em que bill harbor, produtor de um seriado infantil em uma emissora de tv conhecida, o descobrisse no maldito jogo de baseball. encantado pela performance calculista do menino e pelo estereótipo de criança asiática inteligente que queria utilizar na época, bill convenceu aos pais e ao próprio garoto de que seria uma grande oportunidade para a criança, e que isso iria abrir portas no futuro para projetos maiores. william ainda lembra do que lhe fora prometido e o que houvera lhe animado para que aceitasse entrar para o show business. uma simples luva e um taco de baseball novo. ele não reclamava, pra ser honesto. sempre sentira que seria ingratidão se o fizesse. a série em que atuava como o adorável pianista asiático e genial de uma turma de cinco crianças em uma escola de música lhe trazia sucesso, dinheiro, paparicos e fama. ao mesmo tempo, trazia responsabilidades enormes para um menino. aulas de piano e violão por intermináveis horas durante às quartas e quintas, aulas de teatro segundas e terças, baseball todo fim de semana, fora os projetos de publicidade, caridade ou os eventos do próprio canal, contratos estes que seus pais faziam questão de assinar todos - afinal, a fonte de dinheiro pra investir em novos restaurantes não podia secar tão cedo. ainda assim, william estava sempre exausto. de todas as suas aulas e compromissos, nunca pensou que fosse as aulas de defesa pessoal que o salvariam de um colapso.

ele começara a praticar artes marciais devido a um desenvolvimento inesperado no plot do personagem que fazia na série. toda sexta-feira, o kang entrava com o pé direito no estúdio, deixando fora do tatame todo o cansaço e a solidão que sentia. a sensação de liberdade e do alívio de realmente exercer alguma função que gostava era o único sopro de paz que o garoto de doze anos tivera durante os cinco anos que passara gravando a série. tentara um pouco de tudo, mas encontrara no muay thai uma forma especial de desopilar. sempre muito fechado, william só conseguira realmente fazer amigos na academia de luta, pois a comunicação sempre fora mais física e direta. não precisavam de tantas palavras como sempre lhe exigiam no trabalho, apenas de confiança, força e movimento. pra ele, sempre bastara. entretanto, sua saúde mental e sua felicidade não realmente foram suficientes para seus pais quando dividira com eles sobre sua vontade de permanecer lutando mesmo ao final da série. quase fora demonizado, como se pudesse causar a destruição da família inteira. um garotinho, coreano, que ficaria sem dinheiro (já que não queria mais atuar!) e lutador, com seu lindo rosto todo arrebentado. o que fariam se william simplesmente perdesse toda a graça e a beleza que tinha? o choque da falta de apoio familiar o machucou por muito tempo, afinal, encontrara algo que fazia seus olhos brilharem toda vez que falava sobre. cinco anos de técnicas desenvolvidas e absorvidas foram postas de lado quando sua mãe cancelara as aulas, assim como o fizera aceitar um outro papel degradante baseado num estereótipo ridículo que lhe ofereceram na emissora. sua autoestima fora destruída ao passar pela puberdade tão exposto e ridicularizado, e isso aconteceu até o cancelamento da série dois anos depois, por falta de audiência.

provavelmente, até hoje sua família deve pensar que william o fez de propósito – mesmo que nem personagem principal fosse. ainda assim, não descartava a hipótese. talvez ele houvesse pensado o mesmo por um tempo. talvez assim ele pudesse voltar a luta em paz, já que após o fracasso, outros papéis jamais vieram a aparecer novamente. talvez dessa forma pudesse voltar a sorrir quando entrava no ringue. quando levantara a questão novamente, a briga em casa fora feia. ninguém o entendera mais uma vez, com exceção de sua irmã mais nova, mas dessa vez, estava decidido a lutar pelo que queria. ameaçara sair de casa, e não havendo resistência por parte dos pais sobre sua permanência, tudo o que pode fazer foi recorrer aos avós, que surpreendentemente o receberam de braços abertos. william aprendera que o apoio pode vir de onde menos se espera. o laço forte com o avô sustentara sua relação distante com seu pai, bem como a situação difícil com sua mãe. ambos também alimentaram seu sonho com a luta. treinava dia e noite, rigoroso e disciplinado consigo mesmo e seus objetivos, e acostumara-se a vencer quase toda vez. aos poucos, conquistava seu espaço na luta profissional e até mesmo começara a aparecer em torneios televisionados, recebendo aplausos e vivendo o sonho americano ao chamar atenção de patrocinadores e receber propostas de viagens ao exterior. ele ganhava dinheiro fazendo o que amava. fazendo a única coisa a qual tinha certeza que sabia fazer, e que era bom – já que a vida e seus pais fizeram-no acreditar que ele poderia fracassar em todo resto.

a vida fora boa com ele por um tempo. estava entrando em seu auge ao ser cogitado receber patrocínio de uma marca famosa quando seu treinador fora acusado de comprar e vender resultados de lutas, causando um alvoroço entre ele e seus parceiros de treino que também construíam carreiras individualmente. o kang tinha vinte e três anos quando fora intimado a depor pela suspeita de participar do esquema, fazendo com que, dessa forma, sua credibilidade fosse posta em jogo e consequentemente, provocando a perda da maior parte de seus patrocinadores. as coisas jamais foram as mesmas após aquele período. o stress e a preocupação o fizeram perder peso e, com mais nenhum treinador para guia-lo – já que ainda acreditava piamente no seu e não o abandonara –, acabou entrando na modalidade de luta livre para juntar mais dinheiro. foi o maior erro de sua vida, levando em consideração o fato de que não estava preparado o suficiente para competir com profissionais experientes na categoria peso leve. sua ofensiva poderia até ser surpreendente, mas a defesa fraca lhe roubava as vitórias, e a falta de sucesso começara a minar seus pensamentos com uma negatividade tremenda. fora as dores. apanhar tanto não machucava apenas o ego e o coração, seu corpo também dava sinais em relação aos descuidos que tomava. seus ex-companheiros e amigos – que há tempos já haviam trocado de academia e de treinador – lhe aconselharam a parar antes que fosse tarde, bem como seu médico e seu fisioterapeuta, mas ele tentou mais, e o pior aconteceu.

morreu por dentro no dia em que soube seu corpo estava impondo limitações. uma fratura na tíbia o impediu de participar de torneios menores por um ano e, quando tentou voltar, estava mais esquecido do que antes. foi quando a ficha começou a cair. jamais teria a chance de ganhar um cinturão. jamais alcançaria o que um dia prometera a si mesmo, para enfim esfregar na cara da família todo o sucesso que teria. ele tinha 26 anos, uma lesão preocupante e sonhos despedaçados. esse novo episódio de sua vida lhe trouxe muitos problemas, assim como a falta de dinheiro no período em que descobriu que não poderia continuar lutando. apesar do apoio dos avós, will não teve coragem de pedir ajuda, ainda mais com a situação crítica de saúde do senhor kang, que nem mesmo um bom plano de saúde possuía pra cobrir os gastos caríssimos. william aos poucos viu-se cercado de problemas e dívidas, entrando num looping de sensações e sentimentos como fracasso, frustração, medo e rancor de si mesmo por ter estragado tudo. entregando-se aos jogos de apostas que lhe rendiam dinheiro fácil e a pequenos golpes e favores dos quais nunca se orgulhou, assim como lutas clandestinas, conseguiu um dinheiro mais rápido para custear o tratamento do avô e equilibrar suas contas até o momento em que conseguiu um emprego digno – o qual odiava, mas também o qual pelo menos lhe garantia a comida e o teto. bem, garantindo até as coisas começarem a apertar novamente.

a conta sempre chega e, devido às condutas consideravelmente ilícitas e antiéticas de will, as pessoas erradas com quem se metera iniciaram a caça às bruxas. devendo para alguns e tendo irritado outros, tudo o que o kang pôde fazer por si mesmo e pelos avós foi mudar de cidade – ou melhor, mudar até mesmo de estado. apesar da saudade, tentou, pelo menos dessa vez, enxergar o momento positivamente e pensar que talvez também fosse uma chance de recomeçar. com sorte, ninguém o reconheceria na nova cidade e, com a indicação de um colega para trabalhar em um negócio local, conseguiria se manter na cidadezinha insossa.

e talvez, quem sabe, conseguir abandonar aquela adrenalina toda da fuga de emergência pra poder descansar em paz na própria autopiedade.
