Deptford Pink
How good to see the tiny Deptford Pink in bloom another year. By claiming its small plot of undesirable sandy soil the diminutive flower is able to compete with fewer plants.

I feel like these are probably flowers that a lot of flower lovers overlook, because they're small and numerous. Maybe....

Hot And Dry Wildflower Walk, 6-4-23
Leucanthemum vulgare (Oxeye Daisy) on 6-4-23, #943-60. Hello, everyone! I hope this post finds you well. I decided to go for a wildflower walk on Sunday afternoon even though it was bright and sunny and the temperature was already almost 90° F. There was a nice breeze, so it wasn’t so bad. We haven’t had much rain and it seems many of the wildflowers I usually see are non-existent. Only the…

This Wednesday’s Weed is Dianthus armeria, a really pretty flower found here in Lewis County, Washington State, where it does not belong. It’s native to Europe, but has been spread to North America and New Zealand. Its common names include grass pink and Deptford pink. Dianthus flowers are called pinks not because they’re often pink (and they really are!), but because of the serrate petals that look almost as if they were cut with pinking shears. In fact, the color pink was named for Dianthus pinks!

Deptford Pink (Dianthus armeria), native to Europe but naturalized in North America. cannot emphasize enough how tiny this gorgeous little flower is - no bigger around than the head of a tack

Pissing in my bedroom sink freely this year and I don’t care who hears
Gonna get my chest tattooed again
I can’t stop yapping
I’m in your head, you’re in my bed.
I could give lectures on kitsch and camp.
Do I come across as charming or just stupid?
I’m often completely lost but content
Piracy with no gold
Abandon ship, sinking down, washing up
Beyond the depths of deptford
The thamesmead fumes on the wind
What’s with all these windmills?
When the air is full of shit
But I stand by the bus stop on the hill
On the white lines
Between the pub brawls and tube signs
And concrete and cranes with nothing behind
Throwing stones at a glass dome
Even though I don’t want to see what’s outside
Pink sky in the morning
Night sailors take warning
When commuters start dawning
Feel, there’s nothing inside
Hurled up pink and blue paint in the gutter
Bought a sausage roll from the shop by the underground
Sometimes I wake up to piano
And I don’t know if it’s you playing or my subconscious

Speaking of Nature: Mood-Boosting Flowers: A Pause for a Particularly Lovely Pair: Maiden and Deptford Pink
For me, the light is now at the end of the tunnel. The school year is about to end and I find myself completely exhausted. I am now running on fumes. Almost completely spent. I look forward to receiving mandatory unpaid leave and the opportunity it will give me to recover after what has been a very difficult school year. In consequence of this weariness, and being somewhat deprived of enthusiasm…

Good morning! I hope you slept well and feel rested? Currently sitting at my desk, in my study, attired only in my blue towelling robe, enjoying my first cuppa of the day. Welcome to Too Much Information Tuesday!
Former Level 42 drummer Phil Gould posted this on Twitter feed yesterday, “People complaining about McCartney at Glastonbury, either what he’s playing, or his voice, or whatever. What a mindset to criticise or moan about an absolute legendary musician still performing at 80, and on one of the worlds great stages. Get a fucking grip you miserable sods!” Hear, hear!
How was your Monday? We crawled back from Hove on Monday morning. The traffic was so heavy! Driving is easy when the road is clear but when it's full of cars going 20mph, it's painful and exhausting! When we got to London, just after midday, I was knackered! Jumped on the train at Acton Town and headed down to the mean streets of Deptford. Many thanks to everyone that listened to 'Mi-Drive' yesterday; you guys were like a major energy boost! I'm on 'Mi-Drive' all this week, hope you can join me?
Roe Vs. Wade provoked a lot of comment on my status yesterday and my Twitter feed is still buzzing with powerful words and a lot of theories as to why the U.S. has taken a major step back into the dark ages. Female artist Pink! is beyond angry! The language on her Twitter feed is very colourful!
In protest, the producer behind 'This Is Us' has suggested that NO ONE should make films or TV in states where abortion is now banned.
It is amazing to me that the same people that want the freedom to freely buy and carry guns are the same people that want to take away a woman's freedom of choice. I'm not sure that any of these people is an expert on guns but a woman knows her body better than anyone else. These people need to tell me: do they support freedom or not?
The brilliant Bette Midler tweeted, “Time to ban Viagra. Because if pregnancy is “God’s will,” then so is your limp dick.”
Talking of guns, a Subway employee was fatally shot and another worker was critically injured after an argument with a customer about too much mayo on his sandwich. Officers responded to the shooting at a downtown Atlanta gas station shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. The worker who died was a 26-year-old woman. A second employee, a 24-year-old woman, was also shot and seriously injured. A customer went into the restaurant to order a sandwich, became angry about his sub and decided to take out his anger on two employees. If you allow spoilt children to have guns, this will continue to happen.
June 26, 2022: daily count of confirmed Covid-19 patients in hospital: the numbers are rising again. You have been warned!
Poo Tin continues his reign of terror. Yesterday, he bombed a shopping centre in East Ukraine with more 1000 innocent civilians inside. Is anyone brave enough to stop him?
The G7 are currently meeting in Germany. The Group of Seven (G7) is an inter-governmental political forum consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. Sadly, we have hopeless buffoon Johnson representing us. What an embarrassment! The other leaders – real politicians – must laugh at him under their breath. He’s a very confident posh boy with no real idea of how to do the job. It will take decades to unravel his mess!
Best confession on Fesshole yesterday was this, “In year 9 history the girl who sat next to me knew I fancied her, so she copied all my work, which pissed me off. On the end of year exam I wrote a paragraph about how the French trained monkey snipers in WWII and this is where "gorilla warfare" comes from. I passed, she didn't.”
Thanks for reading all the way to the bottom of my status. Many people don’t like reading. It’s too much hard work. So, I thank you for giving me five minutes of your day. Have a tremendous and tumultuous Tuesday! I love you all.
