I’m rewatching the companions’ breakup/makeup dialogue like “they would not ****ing be that emotionally mature”:
Preston should give an over-rehearsed spiel and then completely withdraw. Just be 100% emotionally unavailable for in-game weeks.
Piper should be wittily avoiding her feelings (and trying to spare yours) until it’s unclear whether she’s taking this seriously at all.
Hancock should be suave but quietly paranoid you’re going to forget him and find someone whole.
Curie should be completely incapable of setting boundaries with you, and/or cry a lot.
MacCready should act like a brat and unfavorably compare you to his wife.
Cait should scream-imply that she’s going to get back into drugs or do something worse, to see if you care enough to stop her.
Danse should be panicking and aggressive because he feels like he’s losing the only proof his life has value.
And Gage should cuss you out and insult you to convince himself he never cared that much anyway.
(This post is a joke and I could list at least 20 reasons these shouldn’t actually be in the game.)

Curie: We have no idea how many stars there are!
Deacon: I think there are 7.
Piper: There are more than 7.
Deacon: Curie just said we have no idea how many stars there are.
Curie: Well… I…
Piper: We know there are more than 7.
Deacon: Are you calling Curie a liar? Because now I’m even more convinced it’s 7.

Curie’s storyline is so incredibly important to the development of the sole survivor.
Long post, more under the cut :)
Curie was stuck, secluded from the world that the bombs created. She watched the only people she had ever known die, yet had to continue on with her mission and put her feelings aside. These elements help overall creating Curie’s fear about this brave new world she knows nothing about.
On the other hand, the sole survivor wakes up 200 years later with her husband murdered and her son taken. She, also having no knowledge about the wasteland, has to find her way towards civilization for her to start her quest.
Unlike curie, sole has to find their way to Diamond City to get a companion who understands this new Boston and how the rules of the commonwealth (dogmeat can’t really communicate or do much to help sole understand the world around them).  While this is obviously more of a game feature to teach us how to play, it can also show the acceptance and acclamation that sole has to the commonwealth. Later on in the playthrough, sole funds curie and helps her adjust to the new environment she finds herself in, in a similar way that the companions teach sole about the wasteland. The two mirror each other in tragedy and in growth.
Personally, I like to do hole in the wall after the main quest line, as it just makes everything seem….different. Finding another vault, with all the promise 111 had, but with the actual intent to do good. Looking at what your life could’ve been. These people could have been your great grandchildren. You could’ve been happy here. Your son would’ve never been taken and you would have died without ever knowing the world outside. And that would be enough.
And then it all falls apart again. You learn that this place was an experiment too, using humans as test subjects, just like every other place that claims to have humanity’s best interest at heart. You learn that no matter what, you die if you trust the safety others build for you. And at the end of the horrific dungeon, you see a reflection of yourself, a trapped soul behind glass begging to be let out, to feel something. You feel yourself reaching out to help, to teach Curie how to thrive 200 years later, just like how so many reached out to help you. Because you now finally feel comfortable enough here to explain it to another, showing the difference between the scared vault dweller and the leader of the wasteland.
Overall, this parallel is also what makes the relationship between the two so uncomfortable. Imagine while you were struggling to survive and figure out who you are, you receive help from someone who you think you can trust, only for them to try and convince you that they should love you. It’s absolutely taking advantage of the knowledge and power imbalance. I think that the choice to romance Curie was intentionally supposed to be gross, to understand that while can charm anyone doesn’t mean you should, especially when you are in a position of undisputed power.
TL;DR, making curie’s story parallel to sole’s own was extremely important to the development of both characters. The imbalance between the two is what makes the  relationship very uncomfortable, which is very intentional.

Curie from Fallout 4 is transfem. Please bear with me.
In the lab where she is found, according to the terminal of the Vault Tec scientist who created her, she was built out of a repurposed Mr. Handy his team already had. She was not a Ms. Nanny out of the box, she was a Mr. Handy who was given a female voice and presumably painted white. True, there is no real mechanical difference between the Mr. Handy and Ms. Nanny, but regardless, she used to be a Mr. Handy. This reasoning may seem flimsy, as she probably wasn't sentient at the time her robo-gender was changed and almost certainly didn't choose to make the change, but this is only half of my case.
Consider her entire character arc, about wanting to become human and eventually managing to upload her conciousness into the body of a synth. An imperfect yet more than sufficient solution, this new body allows Curie to easily pass as human, experience human senses, and for all intents and purposes be a biological being, just a synthetically created one, missing a few features such as reproduction but still far more physically human than machine. She is happy with this compromise, and presumably lives out the rest of her days happily as a human woman.
Like what else is there to say, that's a transition. That's just about as tight an allegory for a gender transition that I can imagine a robot undergoing without them explicitly being transgender. The factory built her as a male model of robot, and she would go on to gain sentience, discover herself, decide she didn't want to inhabit that body anymore, and become a woman.
Curie from Fallout 4 is trans. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

How would the companions react to Sole picking them up and carrying them.
Cait: Cait thrashed in Sole’s arms in a furious attempt to break free. She had taken down opponents much larger than Sole in the combat zone, but her friend completely caught her off guard. “Yer embarrassin’ me, Sole!” Cait pounded her fists on Sole’s back to no avail, her cheeks flushing red hot when she felt Sole chuckle from underneath her. “This isn’t funny! Drop me and lets see how well you do with your fists.”
Curie: Curie squealed in both shock and delight. “Sole, this is most unprofessional!” She tangled her hands in Sole’s hair, fearful she would slip out of their grasp. Then Curie laughed; a mixture of fluster and bemusement. “There are much quicker ways to transport me, no?”
Danse: This was why Danse never left his power armor. He doubted Sole could lift hundreds of extra pounds of machinery. Though with the way they ran around with him, he was starting to doubt that, too. “Put me down.” Danse’s voice was low, his brows knit with worry. “We look ridiculous, soldier.”
Deacon: “Oh, shit!” Deacon laughed as he was thrown unceremoniously over Sole’s shoulder. “Let me get this straight: I need to hold all your junk or you whine that you’re overencumbered, but you can carry me just fine.” Deacon grunted when Sole’s sheepish shrug poked his stomach. “While I’m up here, need me to do any scouting? I’ll give MacCready a run for his caps.”
Hancock: The ghoul immediately demanded Sole start spinning. They both laughed as his mayoral coat flapped in the breeze. “I can’t tell if you’re the real Sole or a hallucination from the jet I just hit, but damn is this fun!”
MacCready: Immediate panic. MacCready squealed like a piglet, flailing his limbs against Sole to break free. “Stop, stop, stop!” He was terrified someone would see him and realize just how small he was. And possibly size him up as an easy target. “You are ruining my reputation, Sole! Let me freaking go!”
Preston: Preston gasped when Sole scooped him up from under his knees. “Where are we going?” He was more concerned about an impromptu quest when there were so many settlements that needed their help today.
Piper: Piper thought being carried by Sole was funny until her friend started spinning. The poor reporter immediately puked at Sole’s feet. She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and gave a sheepish grin. “I told you not to do that. Motion sickness or whatever.”
Nick: Nick rolled his eyes as soon as Sole had him in their arms. “How romantic, Sole. You gonna lay your jacket over a puddle next?” He was unimpressed. Sole soon got bored and set him down.
X6-88: “What the fuck are you doing?” X6 wasn’t surprised, amused or nervous. He was just completely and utterly confused.

FO4 Companions’ go to Karaoke songs
I’ve been thinking about this too much lately, let me know if there’s another character/ companion you want me to do
Cait: Spit by Kittie
It’s so angry and she just loves to scream along, even if she can’t get the lyrics right now and again. Surprisingly good at it, and has obviously had some practice
Or anything by Joan Jett- specifically Hate Myself for Loving You. Riot girl now and forever
Codsworth : 500 Miles by the Proclaimers
Mega cheesy, easy to sing along to and many, many people know the words. Yes, Mr Handies can do karaoke, pretty  enthusiastically too
Curie: Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO
Shes too innocent to pick much else, she just likes how happy it is and jumps up and down while singing it. Needs the lyrics to pop up on screen but knows it well- or sometimes she’ll choose some random French opera song and belt it for no apparent reason
Danse: My Humps by the Black Eyed Peas (sorry not sorry)
Everyone, and I mean everyone in Sanctuary has been pissing him off with this song. When he brings it out on karaoke night, they all scream in joy- either that or Last Stand by Sabaton. Some cheesy metal about history always puts a smile on no one’s face but his.
Deacon: Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson
Complete with dancing and moonwalking- brings out the hat collection just to do this song, and does it flawlessly
Hancock: Mr Brownstone by Guns n Roses
If he’s on enough Jet, chances are he will seize the microphone and absolutely go for it. According to his older friends, he looked like a blond Axel Rose before he went ghoul- and now sounds like a slightly more hoarse version of him. Just maybe keep the kids away when it’s his turn on karaoke night.
MacCready: House of the Rising Sun by the Animals
About the only song he knows and doesn’t even know it that well. Mac can’t really sing, and no one’s told him it yet; safer just to let him and Duncan do their best. For now.
Valentine: The Safety Dance by Men Without Hats
He was adamant not to sing at first, but once Sole managed to convince him into it, he got it eventually. Surprisingly bad at working the karaoke machine for someone so accustomed with technology (Curie and Danse help him set it up, think Granddad with the TV remote) but sings his heart out every time. Proper smiles break out when it’s Nick’s turn on the mic.
Piper: Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift
The MOST BASIC choice ever, but she can sing it surprisingly well; Nat duets! Deacon cheers her along, and sometimes dances to the song if he’s drunk enough
 Preston: Milkshake by Kellis
Yeah, you might’ve thought it was out of character, but once he starts, he will not stop. Has obviously had some practice singing in his past, and can sing this one particularly well… probably best not to question why he can.
Strong: We Will Rock You by Queen
Please don’t say anything, he’s trying his best. The whole vocabulary thing isn’t his fault, and he’s getting better. Sometimes smashes stuff in time to the song- a true performer!
X6: Losing my Religion by R.E.M
The most deadpan performance ever, but breaks out in a rare smile; he won’t admit it, but he quite enjoys a slower ballad or similar song. After a while, he gets slightly more emotive with his singing; slightly.

Do you know if you want better robots for serving peons you might want to talk to our friends at general atomics
RobCo,
As someone who has owned one of General Atomic's Mister Handy's, I regret to report that I find that General Atomics makes an inferior product.
My Mister Handy "Codsworth" cavorted with my wife. Then, the world ended in atomic fire. These two things are related.
I find their arms creepy, and they remind me of squids or horrible octopi.
They lack the raw sex appeal that most people associate with Protectrons and Assaultrons.
Another robot, a Miss Nanny that I had the misfortune of meeting, now lives in the body of a synth, which I find highly upsetting.
So, I shall not patronise the mongrels that run General Atomics.
I hope you have a good day.
Your Friend,
Ronald Aldous Dodson Jr.
