As Venus' speech ends, you see many pokemon and humans alike scatter around. In a hurry preparing decorations, food, equipment and so much more... You see also see quite a few people, conversing with Venus, Miriam, and Callie. Three familiar friends that you may have met before... What peeks your interest the most though, is the surprise of seeing a few old faces as well, setting up some booths along in a row. Though, the sight of many new faces phazes your mind even more...

I knew that both Venti and Furina hide themselves behind masks, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it because they just feel way too different somehow

It just hit me that for Venti, he's purposefully showing nothing, removing traces of himself to make sure only the stories themselves shine, because he is a storyteller, nothing more nothing less. He's the disembodied voice of a third person perspective narrator whose presence mustn't be acknowledged

Furina on the other hand, is putting on an act. She's pushing out something to be seen, a role as an actress under the spotlight. The attention is directed towards her as a performer, keeping attention away from the things she doesn't want to be seen

Venti's voiceline talks about how they both put on a show, but wherein Venti is the unseen medium the stories pass through, Furina embodies the narrative through herself

Just like wind and water, sound travels through, but one is unseen without things to move, while ripples visibly appear within the other

You know. Maybe the gems were/are emotionally immature people because the majority of them were born in a society where having emotions and personal desires was literally considered a privilege for the elite, and even the elite could only express them in extreme circumstances. Nobody ever really taught them how to regulate anything they felt whatsoever, and that gaping hole in their development followed them even thousands of years after they defected from their shitty society.

#I think the gems of homeworld have literally stunted themselves in something equivalent to a childlike mindstate #they keep unlocking new abilities and stuff after getting character development because they are actually MEANT to grow #the default settings they are born with are litearlly just a guideline to get them started #and not intended to be a permanent unchanging life direction #at least thats my game theory #NOT to say they are literal children mind you #but rather they still require experiences and guidance and currently their society has decided thats just not true #which has concequences in the long run
