Carlos thought about it a lot. He even got so desperate he asked Lando and Charles for advice, which was a clear cry for help, in his opinion.

The thing is – they wanted to help, they really did, but neither of them had a good enough idea. Or better yet, a good idea at all. They suggested the basic stuff at first – reserve a table at a restaurant where you had a special date and hide the ring in dessert or propose during a sunset on the beach with a picnic set up nearby. Basically, all the nonsense that you would see in a typical rom-com. After a few drinks, their ideas started to get more and more ridiculous – from chartering a plane to write “Will you marry me?” in the sky, to training Piñon to bring a ring to her. Around that time, Carlos stopped listening and taking his friends seriously.

He didn’t want those romantic, over-the-top proposals, where you had to plan details weeks in advance so everything would be perfect. Public places were definitely out of question, because Carlos was sure she would not be too happy about that, but also because he didn’t want to risk being humiliated surrounded by people if she says no. Generally speaking, they were romantic towards one another, but mostly in the privacy of their own home. PDA was kept to a minimum, especially during race weekends in the paddock when there was a lot of media around. Their love language was physical touch and quality time spent together, without needing to go to fancy restaurants and buy each other expensive gifts. They were always very private about their relationship and Carlos didn’t feel like making a big deal out of their proposal because he felt like neither of them would enjoy it. Nevertheless, he wanted to do something special for her.

Simple, but unique. Romantic, but without being over the top. An act of love showing his true feelings, but in a way that would not freak her out. Do you see now what kind of conundrum Carlos was faced with?

He was carrying the precious box in his pocket, or in a bag, or suitcase, or wherever, for an outrageously long amount of time. Inside the box was a ring specially made for her that Carlos helped design with the help of his mother and with suggestions and expert craftsmanship of a jeweller in Madrid. For months Carlos paid close attention to the jewellery she was wearing in an attempt to figure out her style and what she would like to wear every day. He actually showed some photos they snapped together to his mother, showing her the necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings his girlfriend loved to wear so he could get her input and help him choose.

And even though he made it clear from the beginning he wasn’t going to do that, Carlos had still planned everything to the smallest detail. He couldn’t help himself. Everything was organized a few days before and now it was go time. Carlos had set up all of it the night before, when he came late back to their apartment and she was already in bed. He put the bouquets of the flowers she liked on almost every flat surface of the living room and kitchen. He stocked the fridge with all the ingredients needed to make her absolute favourite breakfast in the morning and then tiptoed quietly to their bedroom. She stirred awake when Carlos settled next to her in bed and they fell asleep in each other’s arms after they exchanged a few soft kisses and tender words.

He woke up uncharacteristically early the next morning and finished executing the main part of his masterplan. He cooked quietly, unlike other mornings when they would put on some music while preparing breakfast together. Everything was plated and arranged nicely even before she woke up, so he went back to the bedroom to check up on her.

Carlos stared at her sleeping form half-covered by the thin blanket, her legs and arms spread wide. He always teased her about taking up most of the bed and almost kicking him out in their sleep a couple of times, but he secretly loved it because they always ended up snuggling together. Her hair was sprawled over the cushion and her hand was resting next to it. Carlos couldn’t help the grin spreading across his face as he watched the ring on her finger glinting in the weak sunlight peeking through the curtains. It was absolutely stunning and the perfect fit for her – Carlos managed to put it on her hand without disturbing her sleep in the slightest. Everything was ready and perfect.

Except he forgot one crucial thing. His girlfriend is the sleepiest (possibly even the grouchiest) creature in the world when she wakes up. Carlos often jokes about her sleeping like the dead and then acting like a zombie after waking up. This is why the ‘no talking in the morning’ rule was implemented with the utmost seriousness and a firm resolve, without any exceptions.

Carlos bet on her waking up and seeing the ring on her finger, and then completely freaking out about it. If that doesn’t wake her up, then what will? He returned to the bed and started peppering her with soft kisses all over her face. She stirred awake next to him and it was then that crossed his mind that maybe he underestimated the true power and extent of her sleepiness in the early hours of the day.

“Hermosa…”, Carlos whispered in her ear as he watched her face scrunch up in an adorable grimace. “Good morning.”

“Hmpf… Nope.”, she mumbled, eyes still closed.

Carlos chuckled, now moving to kiss along her jawline and moving to her neck. He took his time pecking her skin and tasting it, even nibbling a bit in a teasing way. She hummed in approval, but with her eyes not opening. She was clinging to the last remnants of sleep that were slowly evaporating from her body.

“Open your eyes.”, Carlos caressed her cheek, kissing the tip of her nose last.

“Coffee first.”, she countered in a croaky voice.

No matter the reprimand in her voice for waking her up, she pecked his lips and then his cheek lovingly before leisurely getting off the bed. Carlos sighed in frustration as he watched her exit their bedroom, the ring on her hand still unnoticed. How drowsy do you need to be not to notice a new piece of jewellery appearing on your hand overnight, he wondered with a smile.

Still, he hastily got off the bed because he didn’t want to miss the surprise on her face when she finally realizes. He caught up to her quickly, encircling her waist with his arms just as she came up to the kitchen doorway. She halted and gasped suddenly, whether from the sight or the way Carlos embraced her from behind, he wasn’t sure.

“Carlos!” she squealed in delight, laughing a little.

“Yes, mi amor?” he asked in a casual tone, like nothing was out of the ordinary.

“Did you buy the whole flower shop?” she turned her head to look at him, her eyes wide and her mouth open in surprise.

He grinned wide, not saying anything and only planting a soft kiss on her lips.

She looked at him with wide eyes, slightly panicking. “Is it our anniversary?”

Carlos frowned. “No. That’s in five months.”

“Right. Yes.”, she stifled a yawn and nodded.

“I wanted to surprise you.”

“Well, you went above and beyond.”, she laughed a little. “Thank you, Carlos.”

A squeal of delight escaped her throat when she noticed the abundant breakfast spread on the table, with a steaming cup of coffee being the first thing she picked out. She playfully scolded Carlos for making so much food for just the two of them, although she suspected that they will finish everything soon – from the omelette, the fruit and especially the pancakes. She sat on the stool at the kitchen island and Carlos wondered if he will have to take her hand and shove it in her face so she could notice the ring.

He stood in front of her and she immediately rested her head on his chest, leaning with half her bodyweight on him. Carlos engulfed her in an embrace and noticed her eyes fluttering closed. He couldn’t help but chuckle at her.

Once again, she yawned, now stifling a giggle at her own sleepiness.

“I have something that will wake you up.”, Carlos offered, rubbing her back soothingly.

“Oh, yeah?” she smiled and her eyes opened. “What is it?”

Carlos shook his head, smiling broadly. No matter how nervous he was about all of this, as she pulled away to look at him and he gazed into her eyes, Carlos was more than sure that she was the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He brushed a few strands of hair away from her face and tucked them behind her ear. He was smiling wider than ever and she looked at him funny, furrowing her eyebrows.

“You have this weird look on your face.”, she chuckled. “What did you do?”

“Look at your hand.”, he whispered, his heart thumping wildly against his ribcage.

Of course, she raised the wrong hand first and Carlos almost burst into laughter when he considered how silly this whole thing was. She held up her other hand and before she even got a good look at the ring glinting on her finger, she gasped and then gaped at him.

Finally, she was awake and alert. Her eyes big and rounds like saucers and her hand was frozen in place as she stared from the ring to Carlos. She was in complete shock while Carlos only had a satisfied smirk on his face.

He whispered her name and then uttered the words she was dreaming of hearing. “Will you marry me?”

"Carlos! You're going to give me a heart attack this early in the morning!"

Summary: Carlos can't help the feeling of jealousy in his body when he sees you talking to another guy

Pairing: carlos sainz x reader

Carlos knew that he had no reason to be jealous. You were his girlfriend and Carlos had no doubt that you loved him the same as he loved you, but even so, he couldn't help but feel horribly bad while he saw you and the Frenchman chatting so comfortably in the driveway of his garage in the pit lane.

He knew that feeling jealous was actually incomprehensible and even a little childish and possessive. You and Pierre were just friends, and Carlos loved that you got along with the rest of the guys on the grid, but he knew of Pierre's fame and he couldn't help the fear that grew in him when he thought that maybe there was a minimum possibility of losing you.

He managed to look away from you so as not to be a masochist and try to focus on other things, but anyway, his eyes gravitated back to where you were like a magnet. He spoke with several of the engineers and even met Charles there, so he spoke for a while with his Monegasque partner. As he spoke, Charles looked at something behind him and looked back at Carlos.

"Your girl is coming here" he informed her.

Carlos imagined that this was what Charles had seen behind him, so he half turned to see you walk towards where he and Charles were talking. When you got to them, you smiled sympathetically at Charles, who smiled back to you.

“How are you, y/n?” Charles asked you. He was also a good friend of yours since you had met him when Carlos signed with Ferrari.

“I'm great, Charles. Thanks for asking. How are you? Are you ready for this race?” Since you knew the boys were having some problems this season, you always liked to know their thoughts on how they were doing on the weekends.

“Well, actually I think we may have a good chance this Sunday. We will have to see how everything develops in the end” the boy explained.

You nodded in agreement and looked at Carlos who was next to you and hadn't said a word since you arrived. Carlos noticed your look and finally raised his head from the ground, you smiled at him and noticed the forced smile that he gave you in return. You didn't have to be the only one who noticed, since Charles seemed to understand that something was up and soon he was saying goodbye to the two of you.

"Well, I think I'm going to go. I'm going to talk to Pierre for a while. See you later” and with that, the Monegasque almost ran in the direction where he had seen his friend leave.

Once Charles was out of sight, you grabbed Carlos by the arm and although the Spaniard was surprised by your sudden move, he didn't complain and let you drag him to his driver's room. You entered and pushed Carlos inside of it, closing the door behind you. Your boyfriend had sat on the small sofa in the room and now he was looking at his hands again while he played with his fingers. You sighed when you saw him and you knew he wasn't going to speak, so you decided to lead the conversation by your own hand.

"Okay, may I know what's wrong with you?" you claimed softly. You didn't understand what had your boyfriend so down, but you wanted to get to the bottom of it.

"Nothing" Carlos said with a small voice still playing with his hands.

"Carlos" you called for him to look at you. It did not have any effect because he continued without looking at you. "Carlos" this time you spoke with a slightly more severe tone, almost like a mother's, and at the same time you approached where Carlos was sitting. You sat on his lap. As if by instinct, Carlos's hands went directly to sit on your waist, bringing you closer to him. This time he did look at you now that he had you so close. You brought your own hands to his face and caressed his cheeks lovingly.

"What is the matter with you, my love?" You repeated the question you had asked a while ago almost whispering. Due to the little space between you, you didn't need to speak out loud.

"It's nothing, really" Carlos kept denying.

"You and I know that if it were nothing you wouldn't be like this" you replied.

Carlos sighed and remained silent, wondering if he really should tell you the reason why he was like this. But it was stupid and you would end up laughing at him.

"I know it's nonsense" began Carlos. “I've seen you talking to Pierre before and I don't know, I didn't feel good seeing the two of you. I swear it's not because of you, it's not that I don't trust you or anything like that. I just don't know, I feel like I'm scared that you'll find out there's something better than me. And that you decide to leave me” now that he had told you how he felt, Carlos felt a little more relieved, but that fear of losing you still persisted in the back of his mind.

You felt a little bad knowing that Carlos could have felt insecure about something like that, but you knew that he trusted you and that this was just a passing thing, so you held his face firmly in your hands and made him look at you.

"You know that I love you more than anyone, right?" Carlos nodded as he looked at you. “And you know that I would never change you for anyone. There is no one in the world that would make me let you go. You are the best in the world, Carlitos. And neither Pierre nor any other man would make me doubt for a second what I feel for you. You will always be my number one” everything you had said was the complete truth and you wanted your boyfriend to believe every word.

Carlos was not usually the best when it came to talking about his feelings, and he thought that he loved you so much that he didn't even know how to express it to you. So he decided to kiss your soft lips instead. And while you were both in your world locked in that kiss, he thought that he didn't have to feel jealous for anyone. You were his now and he intended it to stay that way forever.

“Anthony, why the fuck are you here?” Anthony ignored my statement, instead stepping closer to me.

“I see you and Carlos even keep the charade up when no one is around, good for you guys. I guess you don’t know when an unsuspecting bystander could come through.”

“Judging by how much I’ve seen of you recently, I’d say you’re more of a stalker than a bystander.” He scoffed at that, rolling his eyes.

“I have better things to do then follow around a cheater,” Anthony quipped. He was dangerously close to me and I looked around the paddock, hoping someone I knew would come up and notice the two of us.

“Clearly not since you’re here.”

“You think you’re so special don’t you,” he spit out, his voice venomous. “We both know you slept your way into this. Although I’m not sure what Carlos is getting out of it, you’re pretty lousy in bed.”

Anthony put his hand on my arm and grabbed me, pulling me closer to him. I tried to pull away, but his grip was too strong – to harsh.

“Let go, asshole!” I gritted out as I continued to pull away from his grasp.

“I’m going to get a seat in F1 and then I’m going to crucify you since apparently the press aren’t doing a good enough job at it.”

Before I could respond, I heard a deep voice behind me – the Spanish accent undeniable. “I believe the lady said to let go.” Carlos grabbed Anthony by the collar and pulled him in, forcing my ex-boyfriend to let me go.

“Touch her again and I’ll ruin that face of yours,” Carlos spit out.

A small crowd was starting to form around us now, and I tapped Carlos on the shoulder before standing straighter to whisper in his ears. “He’s not worth it.”

I could see Carlos deciding what to do, the wheels in his head turning. Every ounce of him wanted to punch Anthony, but with the crowd getting bigger Carlos put the Indy Car driver down and backed away.

“Lando, take this piece of trash back to McLaren, eh?” Lando let our a snicker at Carlos’ comment and motioned for Anthony to follow him, not even looking back. As Anthony walked by, Carlos leaned over and whispered to him, “Woman aren’t lousy in bed if a man knows how to make them scream - and oh boy, does Georgia know how to scream.”

as many of you know, when i released midnights 7 months ago, the original concept was fun, dreamy, n honestly a reflection of how i felt at the time. after going through a rather tragic breakup, i cannot see the album the same anymore because it isn't how i feel. it's not me. i revised the entire project during some free time between tour with some amazing people, and in a way, i'm grateful for that breakup! it inspired two, beautiful songs and an edition of the album that you will all be hearing soon. to make a long story short: my new single you’re losing me will be out midnight, 7/17!

carlossainz55 this last week has been extra special for me, to know it is the anniversary of the first time i met my best friend, and that she was able to be with me when i lifted the trophy in singapore is a wonderful feeling.

but to see all the ignorant, unkind, and hurtful comments that are regularly directed at my wife has put a negative twirl on this time. my wife, to me, is the most beautiful woman in the world. she is kind, and loving, and has given up the world for me time and time again. no one knows our relationship more than her and i. many of you speak things that are so ignorant and false it is disgusting. if you are one of these people, please know, you are not a fan i find myself caring for.

Recently, there have been photos of me and of course, photos of me pregnant that were unintentionally leaked. And that's also the reason why I spoke up about this, (why do I sound so serious, haha) anyway, it's been a while and it's time to share with you guys.

Since you love me, you deserve me to share your joys with you. Shut up, Charles

Pairings: Carlos Sainz x reader

Summary: Charles had to meddle and push them along the way, but he finally has a front row seat to watch his friends getting together.

„Let me get this straight…“, Charles was sitting opposite me at the table, the plate of pasta in front of him long forgotten as he was more concentrated on the conversation we were currently having.

The look on his face was almost comical. He was staring at me like I just grew a second head. I turned my gaze away, looking through the window of his Monaco apartment. The sun was shining, it was warm and the view of the harbour was as spectacular as it could be. The only thing was, I couldn’t really enjoy the day because I was overthinking too much. In addition to that, Charles was being a pain in the ass.

“A man you had a crush on for the longest time finally asked you out, and instead of saying yes, you said you’ll think about it?” Charles asked incredulously.

Pierre snorted in amusement from his place on the couch. I glared at him and he raised his hands up in defence, like he was leaving the subject alone. He returned his attention back to the phone in his hands, no doubt still listening to the conversation.

I looked down at my plate, twirling the spaghetti around with my fork. “Yeah.”

“Why?” Charles was frowning now; I didn’t have to lift up my head to know it.

“I think she’s right.”, Kika added beside him. “She has the right to think about it if she’s not sure.”

I glanced at her, offering her a look which silently said thank you for having my back and not looking at me like I was insane. She was already looking back at me with an encouraging smile on her face.

“Of course she does.”, Charles agreed. “I didn’t say that. I just don’t get why would she turn him down.”

“Your pasta is getting cold.”, I commented, finishing the last of my meal.

“You’re changing the subject.”, he pointed with his fork at me accusingly.

I sighed. “I didn’t turn him down. I just said I needed some time to think about it. And Carlos said he’s fine with that.”

There was a beat of silence.

“I still don’t get it.”, Charles said, with a mouthful of pasta. “Do you like him?”

“I do.”, I answered honestly.

There was no doubt in my mind about that. The problem was that I was scared. And I didn’t want to admit that out loud. I don’t think that I could handle going on a date with Carlos and then him blowing me off – saying yes to him would only give me hope, so what if I get disappointed? What if he realizes he doesn’t like me and I’m stuck thinking about him and not being able to get over this stupid crush. By not going, the situation stays the same; the crush is still there, but there are no unrealistic expectations.

Besides, there were a million other things on my mind. Going out with Carlos wasn’t like going out with any man, in the sense that there was always a strong possibility of us being seen and/or photographed, which could result in any kind of rumours. I didn’t want to think about that before we even went on a date, but here we were. I was never particularly good at letting things play off in an off-the-cuff kind of way. Whenever I can, I want to be in control of the situation when it involved my privacy and personal things in life. And sure, hanging out with Charles and Pierre always entailed some form of media or fan attention, but we were friends long enough that I was able to kind of fade into the background as a permanent fixture in their lives, without someone batting an eye when they saw me accompany one of them wherever they needed to be.

“Don’t try to reason with her Charles.”, Pierre piped up from the couch again. “I already tried and it’s not going to work.”

I rolled my eyes at him. I stared at the empty plate in front of me, my stomach churning in agitation as Charles and Kika continued eating.

“You guys are so pushy! Leave her alone.”, Kika defended me again and I could only offer a half-hearted smile in response.

They left the subject alone after that, but of course, I couldn’t get it out of my head. I knew that I was making a big deal out of this, so I gave myself one more day to make a decision. I would sleep on it and send Carlos a text tomorrow.

And well, it wasn’t a big surprise to anyone what I decided to do. Despite the fears and the uncertainty that loomed over my head, I didn’t want to miss an opportunity to go on a date with Carlos, no matter what happened. I knew that I would regret it otherwise.

A couple of days later, I found myself nervously pacing up and down my room (well, technically it was a room I usually occupied when I was visiting Charles in Italy), contemplating what to wear. I was beyond nervous and I couldn’t remember the last time I felt this way before going on a date with someone. Granted, I never pined after someone so long as I did after Carlos, so the stakes were riding high on this one.

“You’re going to be late for your date!” Charles shouted in front of the closed doors, poking fun at me.

“Shut up, Charles!” I retorted childishly.

As much as he was trying to tease me, he was actually pretty right, because a minute later the doorbell rang. I could hear the door opening and closing and then Carlos talking with Charles, but I couldn’t concentrate on what they were saying. I was possibly at the highest point of my freakout at that exact moment.

Carlos and Charles both had rented apartments close to Maranello, so they were close to the Ferrari factory when they were needed there. It was no surprise then that Carlos was a bit early. Still, my nervousness skyrocketed as I tried to mentally prepare myself for going on a date with my crush.There was a knock on my door, almost making me flinch.

“Are you coming out soon?” Charles called after me.

I took a big breath and willed my legs to move. As I was opening the doors, I forced myself to calm down and smiled as I faced Charles. He had a huge grin on his face and his eyes were sparkling. It was a similar look that he usually had when watching an exciting football match and cheering his team on; a look of pure joy.

When I turned my attention to Carlos, I was met with wide eyes staring at me. His mouth fell slightly open and it seemed like he was lost for words. Then I noticed that the reason was me – he was trailing his eyes down my figure, as if mesmerized. I got a little shy under his full attention, looking down at my outfit. It was simple, but it was something that I felt both beautiful and comfortable in. A black dress that hugged my waist tightly and flowed down to the middle of my legs, with my favourite shoes and my small bag. Nothing special, but it seemed enough to render Carlos almost speechless, which I was more than satisfied about.

“You look… Absolutely gorgeous.”, Carlos complimented, both of us now staring into each other’s eyes with light smiles on our faces.

From the corner of my eyes, I could see Charles staring at both of us with laser focus, like he didn’t want to miss a second. I think he even mumbled something in French about Carlos and me looking adorable, but I couldn’t say for sure because Carlos was offering me his hand to take and that was the only thing that mattered at that second.

After absent-mindedly saying bye to Charles, I made my way out of the apartment with Carlos, arm in arm.

“Don’t forget to use protection, lovebirds!” Charles yelled after us.

I looked over my shoulder, glaring at my best friend, who was cackling in delight. “Shut up, Charles.”

We fell into easy conversation as Carlos led me to his car, parked in front of the building. As I glanced up at the floor where Charles’ apartment was, I saw him at one of the windows, smiling wide and showing me a double thumbs up. I shook my head at him as Carlos opened the car door for me.

“Ignore him.”, Carlos was facing me, his back turned to the building in which Charles was currently watching us. “I thought he would be less annoying after I finally asked you out, but seems that I was wrong.”

I chuckled. “I don’t think he will ever get less annoying.”

I settled in the car and Carlos was quick to get behind the wheel. I was still nervous, but Carlos was so sweet and kept asking me questions, which unintentionally made me less nervous. We didn’t drive long. I expected him to pull up in front of a restaurant or a bar, but he parked in front of a residential building. He noticed my confusion as we got out of his car.

He looked at me and then his eyes widened in shock, as if just now realizing something. “I thought that maybe we could have dinner at my place, but uh… Now I’m thinking that maybe that wasn’t the best idea.”

“Oh.”, I said simply, not anticipating this at all.

“Well, I just…”, he anxiously scratched the back of his neck, looking away for a second. “I wanted it to be just the two of us, but if you’re uncomfortable, I can drive you back and-”

“No!” I interrupted him suddenly. “No, I’m not. That actually sounds great.”

“Really?” his eyebrows shot up.

“Yes, really.”, I giggled at his cute expression. “I prefer this.”

“Okay, then.”, Carlos seemed to regain his confidence in a flash. “Let’s go.”

He led me to his apartment, occasionally putting his hand on my back to steer me in the right direction and making goosebumps erupt on my skin. When we settled in his kitchen, he poured me a generous glass of wine. I was sitting on the barstool at the kitchen island as he moved around the room with ease, finishing up our dinner. I was impressed that he decided to cook for us (even though it was a simple pasta dish) and I thought that I saw him blush when I told him that, which in turn almost made me melt to the floor. We were talking the whole time he was busy chopping various vegetables and preparing the sauce for the pasta, when he was mixing the salad, taking the plates out or pouring me more wine. Carlos practically forbade me from helping, assuring me that he has everything covered. It was incredibly hot to see him cook, I’m not going to lie. I always considered Carlos attractive, but with each minute it seemed that he became more and more irresistible to me.

We joked around and got to know each other better by the time dinner was done and I could say with certainty that this was the best date I’d ever been on. I couldn’t believe it, but without me saying anything, Carlos actually set up the perfect date. We had complete privacy, his attention and time were devoted completely to me and to us getting to know each other, without any other distractions.

When I tasted the pasta and moaned at how good it was, Carlos made a flirty but also incredibly cheesy comment which almost made me snort out the delicious sauce out of my nose when I laughed. All of the nervousness and the doubt I was feeling in the afternoon were completely gone. I was relaxed and having fun. As a matter of fact, I didn’t want the night to end.

Long after our plates were empty, Carlos asked if I wanted dessert.

“Don’t tell me you also made dessert.”

“I would love to take credit, but I actually ordered tiramisu from a restaurant nearby.”, he smiled wide. “You can pretend that I made it though.”

“Nah.”, I shook my head. “If you also knew how to make desserts, you would be too perfect and I wouldn’t be able to handle that.”

Carlos laughed as he stood up and made his way to the fridge.

He looked at me and winked. “I’ll remember that.”

With the desserts, we settled on his couch. The tiramisu was heavenly, but it was hard for me to concentrate on it when Carlos was so close. We were sitting side by side on the couch, with our plates and forks in our hands. Don’t ask me how it happened, but I no longer had my heels on and my legs were resting across his lap. There was a moment of comfortable silence as we both finished the last of our dessert and Carlos put the plates away on the coffee table. I watched him intently as he did so, before he turned his head to gaze back at me. His arms rested on my bare legs and his fingers slowly caressed my skin. I leaned in closer, wanting him to finally kiss me. One of his hands cupped my face, his finger brushing against my lower lip. Carlos glanced at my mouth and then at my eyes, looking hungry in a way that was different from the hunger he felt before the delicious dinner we just had.

In a flash, we both moved to meet in the middle as our lips crashed against each other. My heart was beating out of my chest as Carlos kissed me, so passionately and yet so sweetly. He was gentle, but I could feel how desperate he was too. I guess we were both waiting on this for quite a while. As one of my hands moved to the back of his neck and my fingers tangled into his smooth hair to pull softly on the strands, Carlos broke the kiss, letting out a groan of pleasure. But, then he was quick to press his lips back against mine again, giving me a few quick pecks, as if it was hard for him to pull away now that he got a taste. Without a doubt, it was hard for me to move back afterwards, when I was staring at his chocolate brown eyes.

He smiled wide and I did as well.

“I’m glad you decided to go on a date with me.”, Carlos admitted a little sheepishly. “I was getting kind of worried when you didn’t send me any kind of messages at first.”

“You were?” I blurted out in surprise before I could stop myself.

He chuckled, shrugging like it wasn’t a big deal while looking away in embarrassment. “I was.”

We pulled apart only slightly, our foreheads now not touching anymore. But, we settled closer to each other on the couch, my legs still in his lap and his arms resting on them. I don’t know who was the first to intertwine their fingers with the other, but here we were. Carlos looked back at me, any awkwardness of the situation disappearing as he smiled at me. It was funny; he seemed to me like one of the most confident guys in the world, but sometimes he was shy and even a little bashful. It was absolutely adorable. Of course, there were occasions when he would flirt and tease me like he knew exactly what I was thinking, how I found him attractive and how sometimes I couldn’t prevent myself from thinking about him in all sorts of ways.

“Sorry I didn’t text you sooner.”, I said sincerely. “You can thank Pierre and Charles for constantly nagging me about our date. They are one of the reasons I’m here.”

His eyebrows furrowed. “So, you only accepted because they made you?”

“No!” I mentally face-palmed for expressing myself in such a stupid way. “I didn’t mean it like that. What I meant to say is… I trust them. And their judgement.”

Carlos waited patiently for me to elaborate while I was trying to find the right words.

“If they say you’re a good guy, I believe them.”, I added, but Carlos seemed a little unconvinced still, at first responding only with a low hum.

“What else?”

“What do you mean, what else?” it was now my turn to be confused.

“You said they were one of the reasons.”, Carlos smirked and I could anticipate his teasing before he even said anything. “What else made you agree to go on a date with me?”

My cheeks immediately darkened, I could feel it by the heat on my face. This is exactly what I meant when I said that Carlos had the capacity to quickly shift from shy and hesitant to completely dominant and playfully cheeky.

“Uhm, I…”, I cleared my throat, thinking about my answer while averting my eyes from his intense look.

“You said you liked me before I asked you out.”, Carlos offered with a smile. “I hope that’s still true.”

“It is.”, I smiled back, letting out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding as I looked back at him. “I really do like you. That was another reason.”

“Anything else?” he quirked his eyebrow, waiting.

“I guess I…”, I tried to find some courage to express what was on my mind. “I want to see where this could go. If… If you also want something that’s not just a one-time thing.”

“No.”, Carlos said with certainty. “I don’t want just a one-time thing with you.”

I nodded, not really knowing what to say.

“I want to go on dates. And I want to put a smile on your face whenever I can.”, Carlos admitted, his eyes not leaving mine, making my heart beat faster as I listened to his confession. “I want to get to know you better and show you just how special you are to me.”

“Wow, okay.”, I giggled. “That sounds like something I would enjoy.”

“I’m counting on it.”, Carlos winked at me, making me swoon for the thousandth time this evening.

“You really are a smooth operator!” I chuckled at my own bad joke and he laughed, shaking his head at me.

“Is it working?” he quirked an eyebrow at me playfully.

“Kind of. Yeah.”, I grinned.

“Only kind of?” he tilted his head and frowned.

“It would work better if you kissed me again.”, I challenged and it didn’t take long before his lips were on mine again.
