Replaying pokemon Y and picking apart dialogues to add to the fan version in my head is very fun, Especially now that I have a vision for Calem as the canon rival:

(This is written almost like a fanfic so yeah there's Kalosshipping inserted in this little thing)

He would be an Obsessed Are the Listmakers type person, he follows the rules by the book and has an scheduled itinerary as to when and how things will be done. While he did considered Shauna, Tierno and Trevor as friends, he mostly organized his free time into studying and learning about pokemon battles, and that made him into the most proficient soon-to-be trainer of their tiny town.

Serena's addition to the team wasn't something unexpected for him, he was actually asked by his parents to help Grace's daughter. And so he did!

He was prepared to explain about the type chart to Serena... only for her to already know the type chart by association. He was ready to teach her about how to catch a pokemon!.. only for her to already have new fletchling in her team. And he was ready to win against her every time!... only for her to be stronger than everyone else.

He couldn't even keep up with his schedule cause the rest would suggest trying to do something else. He would usually reject it and keep on his journey, but Serena had a different pull to him that made him say yes everytime and have fun together as a friendgroup.

Serena is a natural lider, an example and a fantastic trainer. She's in control of herself and of the world around her, and not as a tyranical ruler, but as a light of guidance as bright as the Lumiose tower that could never go out. What is Calem compared to her?

He was the son of two very strong trainers, being the very best was his plan, he had it all written down and ready as to when and how he would receive the champion title from Diantha. It was part of his order, but Serena came and took it all away in one elegant swift.

The worst part? He admired her, her ways of viewing the world and was happily goofing around with his friends. The order of his world was being shifted in a good but unfamiliar way.

And that was the one thing he hated: feeling out of control. And it was all because of that new girl in town.

Maybe that's what made him almost understand and simpathize with Lysandre. He understood the feeling of having all your expectations of the world broken and destroyed, only to want to redo the whole world and start from scratch. And Lysandre was indeed offering that to him.. he could help him in the mission of reactivating the ultimate weapon and start all over..

Thank Arceus, Serena was there to ground him back into reality. To show him that the solution cannot be control or erasure. It is the balance of life and death, of order and chaos, and believing that the future can be done right with a better path.

For a girl that talks so much about balance and letting go of control, she sure has the heart of the boy under her belt. And he would swear to protect her even in the face of a flower of death.

A short story:

"I didn't spend months raising you to get this! Now go! I don't need you anymore!"

From across the park, N could hear another Trainer yelling. He turned and saw the Trainer, glaring at a Sylveon. The Pokemon was shaking all over, and its ears were folded back.

Why? The Sylveon asked. I did everything you asked me to, and you turn your back on me?

The other Trainer, a young boy probably about Nate's age, was already walking away. The Sylveon tried following, but the boy stopped and turned around. "I said, GO AWAY!" he shouted.

I'm sorry....

The Sylveon turned tail and slowly walked the opposite direction.

A voice in N's head told him, " This is why people and Pokemon can never live together."

Shut up. That's Ghetsis talking, N told himself. Just because there are some bad people doesn't mean everyone's like that. Most of the people I've met here in Kalos are nice.

Still, something had to be done. This Sylveon, now just a few meters away from him, had loved its old Trainer so much, only to be rejected. And all for its appearance. I'm going to find someone who DOES appreciate Sylveon.

N pulled a berry out of his bag and held it out. "Here, boy," he called to the Sylveon. "I've got some nice treats for you!"

Understandably, the Sylveon was nervous. Can't say I blame him.

"Oh, there you are! We've been looking for you!"

"Ummm... what are you doing?"

N looked up to see two teenagers standing nearby. "Oh, hey there, Calem, Serena," he said. "Do you think you could keep it down a bit?"

"Sure," Calem lowered his voice. "But why?"

N told both of them what he had seen a few minutes earlier. How an Eevee had just evolved into Sylveon-- a Pokemon that could only evolve through a strong bond-- only for its former Trainer to reject it for being "too girly."

"Oh, come on! That's just mean!" Serena exclaimed. "Which way did that Trainer go? I would like to have a word with him."

"Serena, no," Calem said, clamping one hand on her shoulder. "We are not fistfighting anyone. That will not solve anything."

"Fine," Serena let out a sigh. "We'll do it your way."

"Anyway--" Calem turned back to N-- "Meowstic and I collected some extra berries if you need some."

"Of course!" said N. "I'm sure Sylveon will love them!"

For several minutes, the trio-- plus Calem's Meowstic and Serena's Talonflame-- patiently waited. That's about all we can do, N thought. Just wait. Sylveon has to approach us on his own if he's going to trust us.

The sun was setting by the time Sylveon had gotten the courage to approach N and his friends.

You three, the Pokemon's voice echoed in N's mind. You. Will not hurt?

No, we won't hurt you, N reassured Sylveon. But I saw you were hurt earlier today, and I wanted to help.

You. Understand me.

Yes. I can hear the voices of Pokemon. Including you.

Sylveon came a bit closer. Food? For me? He sniffed the berries in front of him.

Yes. For you. Eat as much as you want.

Sylveon did just that. He ate every last berry, then looked up expectantly. More?

"I'm sorry, I don't have any more food," said N. "But if you're still hungry, we could go over to Serena's place. Is that okay with you, Serena?"

"Sure," she answered. "Mom will be happy to have you over. We haven't had guests in quite a while."

"Then what are we waiting for?" Calem asked. "Let's go!"

This place. Is it warm? Good food? Kind people? Sylveon looked in Serena's direction.

"He's asking if your house is warm and if the food is good," N translated. "And if there are nice people."

"All of that, and more," Serena promised. "My house is the warmest, coziest house in Vaniville Town."

And so they set off home, with a new friend following them.

what did cody said about klave?

Omg Anon okay so, twitter user umbrellaacademy invited Cody to do a twitter space with them which they did yesterday (8PM Friday EST) and Cody stayed for OVER TWO AND A HALF HOURS answering fan questions and saying SO MANY things about Dave and Klave and I am still so overwhelmed. I have recorded it and I’ve sent the video to the host and they’ve said they’ll release it soon (although the file is massive so I suspect they’ll have a bit of trouble wrangling it like I did so it might take longer). In the meantime, some highlights under the cut:

- Dave’s favourite thing about Klaus is his openness. He’s charismatic because he’s unafraid to be himself. Cody also finds it endearing that Klaus marches to the beat of his own drum.

- He likes the idea that the briefcase brought Klaus to Dave because of fate/destiny. Dave is the missing piece of Klaus, he fills a void in Klaus. He’s as interested as we are to find out if the timeline loops back in season 3

- Dave is soft spoken. There are qualities of Dave that have grounded and soothed Klaus but also Klaus has pulled Dave out of his shell. Klaus’ openness was like an invitation to Dave to open up and be goofy and strange, and this was a vibe Cody got from Robert as well in the bar scene, but then the dynamic shifted later and he felt that Dave was the one who was opening up first.

- Dave would go with Klaus to be with his family. He would want Klaus to take the reigns and would trust Klaus re- what kind of life they could have together post Vietnam. Although there would be no hesitation from Dave about his love for Klaus, there might be hesitation about planning a life together because of the time period they were in. There’s a sense of peace and wanting to settle from Klaus. Cody just basically being solidly on the Klaus bringing Dave back to 2019 to meet his family train.

- There is a sensitivity and self awareness to Dave, Cody thinks he accepted his sexuality but just was careful about advertising it because of the time period. He also says that his Dave in season 1 didn’t have the experience we saw in season 2 with his uncle and that might have made him more open (I am staring directly at my reverse George McFly theory).

- Dave’s love for Klaus is unconditional, he loves him for exactly who he is. Dave’s unconditional love is a foil for the conditional love Klaus gets from his family. Klaus doesn’t really know what love is and then he gets fired this laser beam of love from Dave.

- Cody that been in a play where his character was in a relationship with a guy but he thinks Rob hadn’t done that before. The director set the tone that the kiss scene was an intimate and tender scene. He feels like there was a reassurance from Dave to Klaus in that moment.

- Dave was holding 4 shot glasses in the scene where he’s holding them with both hands.

- Cody describing Dave in 4 words - kind, sensitive, empathetic, soft. Dave would describe Klaus as free spirited, open, unfiltered, unexpected (he also put forward chaotic but didn’t stick with it and replaced it with unexpected).

- Dave’s first thought when he woke up and saw Klaus was “Is this a dream... We’re not sleeping much so this could be a dream, I wouldn’t put it past my brain” Also “The dream coming to reality but maybe not necessarily looking like what he thought.”

- He thinks Klaus probably took the dogtags off Dave after he died as a way to remember him rather than them exchanging them

- He wants Klaus and Dave’s storyline to end with love prevailing. He also floats the idea of Dave taking a dark turn and Klaus has to be the redemptive person to bring Dave back.

In preparation for playing Dave he watched the Ken Burns Vietnam War documentary series on Netflix and also looked up online about the Vietnam war. He also listened to music he thought Dave would be into from 1965-1968: He mentions Motown and Stones (Cody said he himself likes Motown)

- Cody’s favourite thing about Dave is the quality of how he loves Klaus. He describes it as pure and unconditional and simple and he talks about he thinks people need to love each other fearlessly - not just romantically but in friendships as well, especially with what’s happening now (and this sort of clarifies to me why he was talking about love over fear so passionately in the clever klaus q&a and what he meant by that)

- Cody is a fantasy nerd

- He would love to see Dave giving Klaus some agency

- He thinks that Klaus has some guilt about Dave’s death

- He would like to play a Commission agent (Commission Dave rights!!)

- Robert is very open and unassuming and funny and it was easy to have an immediate rapport with him. Cody also talked with Tom Hopper (about their mutual friend Bradley James). He also briefly met Colm and Robin and he also remembered he met Aidan (who here had a theory about a deleted scene with Aidan in the attic?)

- He doesn’t know how time works in the afterlife or how Klaus’ power works but Dave would have waited 50 years for Klaus

- Calem joined the space and they said that they hadn't interacted before but they had a bit of a chat. Calem said that his filming in season 2 was 4 days but about 1 month apart. Calem’s internet kept cutting out and then he disappeared.

- If Dave was one of the 43 children his power could be the care bear love blast and he could fire hot beams of love out of the hole in his chest. He would give Dave a more passive power to round out the more active powers the other Hargreeves have, like a healer

- The scene in the tent was filmed at the studio. The scene on the bus was shot outside. The scene in the trench was partly shot outside but some of it was shot in the studio as well (I wonder if he’s confusing that trench scene with the hallucination at the Rave though?)

- He said the scenes were beautifully lit (I beg to differ, Cody!)

- Klaus helped unlock that part of him (I think he means Dave’s sexuality) and he also says that Klaus was a very specific target to Dave’s love. Klaus seems like one in a million. When you love someone there’s something specific about them that pulls that out of you.

- Calem returns! He was in his room where the internet crapped out on him but then he went downstairs. Cody asked what it was like for Calem to come in and play an established character. Calem said he purposely didn’t talk with Cody about the character before playing him because he’d done the audition without knowing anything about the character so he didn’t want to risk doing something too different from what he’d done in the audition, but he did watch season 1. He also said he was a bit anxious about what the audience would think of him playing the character, and Cody went into acting mentor mode and said that he doesn’t think the job is about appeasing the fans but about trying to be as true as possible. He also said that Calem did a good job and he shouldn’t be hard on himself but Calem then said that he quickly got over it and he wasn’t thinking about it on set, just afterwards. Calem mentioned that he creeped Cody’s IMDB and he said that his dad was a camera operator on Lizzie Borden Chronicles this Cody guest starred in an episode of.

- Dave loves music like Cody. He mentioned Four Tops as another band and then Motown again. He thinks the bar scene shows Dave’s love of music but he wasn’t thinking about that at the time.

- Dave would be overstimulated at first if he came to the future because we’re bombarded with a lot more stimulus than in the 60s. The internet and iPhones would blow his mind. He let’s a “we’ll see” slip, which he then quickly corrects to “we would see”

- The kiss in the bar was definitely the first kiss and he thinks it happened a couple months into the tour. He thinks the feelings were mutual quite early, but that it would have taken some time to act on them and to be able to gauge if each other were really giving off the signals that they like each other.

- He’s appreciative of the fan love and he tries to make a connection with everyone he can

- Dave is an optimistic force who thinks that love will prevail so he would have wanted to do something to make it work despite the obstacles they faced

- Cody doesn’t know how close to the vest Klaus kept the stuff about his powers and the time travel etc but he did see Klaus appear so he does know there’s something strange about him. Dave trusted Klaus and even if it wasn’t explicitly talked about there was enough trust to go “wherever you go I’ll follow, wherever that leads.” When Klaus conjures Dave, Dave is excited to see him but isn’t really surprised or put off by any of the circumstances that Klaus is in.

- He thinks that Dave is more the listener of the relationship, but he could certainly see Dave telling Klaus about Dune and Klaus indulging him.

- Rob is very genuine, very unassuming, very immediately open, very funny, definitely puts you at ease, incredibly thoughtful, very considerate, good dude (wow it’s the complimenting Rob speed run! 8 in a row!)

- The aspect of Dave that Cody connects to most is his non-judgemental quality

- Dave would connect with Vanya’s softness and Luther’s moral compass (he said Diego’s moral compass in the cleverklaus q&a so not sure if he just mixed them up). He thinks Dave might be a bit too sincere for Five and Ben would appreciate being able to unload Klaus on Dave.

- He thinks Dave is not a tattoo guy but Klaus is impulsive so getting a tattoo really aligns with his personality. He thinks that Dave’s actions speak louder than words written on him

- He connects to the fractured family theme of the show on a personal level

- Dave being jewish was something he only learned about through looking at the dogtags, it wasn’t in the script or anything

- Dave might have studied Philosophy if he’d gone to college instead of joining the military, he feels like there’s a dreamer quality to Dave

- Even though Dave was pressured into joining the military, he thinks that Dave believed he was going the right thing by enlisting

- Colm is a Canadian Hall of Fame actor and Reginald is such an intense character so Cody would love to do a scene with him. He would also love to do a scene with Elliot.

- Cody remembered waiting on set to film the scene in the club and he, Rob and Tom were in an 80s hotel with a heart shaped jacuzzi (??? oh was this the set with the Handler and Agnes maybe?)

I'm thinking about how some of the main story lines of the main series pokemon games have, specifically the ones that fall flat to me.

For example, in FireRed/LeafGreen the story is very simple and while I don't personally find joy in playing through the games, it does it job right as an introduction of this world.

Hgss( or just the Johto games in general) the story is a continuation of what happened in FRLG. And that's fine! Great actually! But my problem is how some things could have been done better. Story wise, gameplay is a different story. In hgss , team rocket is having a revival and their end goal is to call Giovanni through the radio tower and regain power. And in my personal opinion, that just make team rocket look like a joke, cause there entire operation depends on one man. Maybe that was the point, but for the player character to try and stop something that the police should have been actively trying to stop already is very silly to me( though can you really trust the police of this world after all the shit that happens every year or so? Probably not). Not to mention the whole side plot with Suicune and the box legendary and how it's so disconnected to the main plot, when I feel it could have been connected somehow. Silvers arc is very good, but I feel like the revelation that he's Giovanni's son should come in main game ( like the mid-end), and not in a fucking event that doesn't exist anymore. Makes his hatred to Team Rocket more personal that that they're just weak. I have a few ideas on how the hgss plot could go with changes but that's a different post. Oh!

I wasn't expecting to enjoy Emerald as much as I did, but I did and it was so fun. I liked how at the end of the day, it was Rayquaza that saved the day, not the player. The characters that were important to the plot really filled their purpose. Though I will say, the evil teams reasoning could have been better, and Steven/Wallace honestly didn't do much other than a few battles( though that's still better than Cynthia). In my own timeline for my oc's, I want Oras and Emerald to be mixed a bit, which is gonna take a lot of planning and drafts from me, but that's for future me to worry about.

Dppt. Platinum specifically. The story is very straightforward, just like the past 3 games before it, and the characters are fun in their own right. I should just say it now that a good story doesn't have to be thought provoking, or a grand masterpiece. Simple stories are fun, and that's why I like Emerald and Platinum so much. The "problem" with platinum is just a few characters fall flat/ could have been expanded upon. Cyrus is a really interesting character and it would have been nice to understand him more other then the emotion thing. Cynthia *sighs* is such a disappointment as a character. I love her, I do, but she does LITERALLY NOTHING. Yes she gives some exposition, but she's, like, the champion! One of the strongest at that! Steven falls into the game category of letting the player do literally everything, but he is shown to be fighting the main evil team at. least once. Cynthia does nothing. And that's sad. She's so cool. And it's even sadder when you realize that's a trend among female characters in this franchise but that's a different topic for a different day. But other than that, the simplicity of Platinum is fine, in my personal opinion.

BW and B2W2 kinda caused a shift in the story telling of pokemon. The story was darker, the villain was more evil, the characters were just *chef kiss*. I will admit that I am biased towards these games, if that wasn't obvious enough from my ocs, so I have very little criticism. Not saying that criticism can't be made, and it should, but I can't think of anything other than the female character thing. Iris, I love you, but you too did nothing in B2W2 as Champion. I'm only excusing you cause your a literal child. Bianca is fine and deserves more love but I wish people would stop demeaning her( though I guess that was part of her growth)

XY! I used to hate it before doing a nuzlocke and now I'm just disappointed. In terms of story premise, it was good. Like really good. But in terms of execution, Arcues this was terrible. In my experience with the game, the way the game presented itself was so lack- luster, I felt like I was doing a chore than playing a game( the game was much more entertaining as a nuzlocke, but it still felt like a drag at times). The characters, I believe, where the greatest offender to this. There is very little for me, the player, to care about the rivals, let alone call them rivals, and some things feel so left-field and shoehorned in. Calem/Serena calling the player their friend near the end of the game when their was no proper build up to it? Shauna saying she's friends with Clemont and thus knows how to unlock a security door. The other two noy contributing to anything and just feeling like a waste of space. And is it just me, or was their supposed to be some sort of conflict between our "friend" group and just lead to nowhere, only to resolve itself??? Is it just me??? Diantha only appears twice before her battle, has a member of the evil team member as her elite four( who gets away just fine?????), and just does nothing. This, I feel, is the worst offender of badly written female characters in this franchise. Dear Arcues. I guess Lysander was interesting? Not really. This whole game is a mess.

SM/USUM, despite my grips with a few directional choices, are very good games. This post is getting long, so I won't go into it.

Same goes to SwSh. It's like XY, in that the plot idea was really good, but it feel flat. It's saving grace, at least to me, where the characters. And, well, the fandom just throwing out headcanons left and right, but that's a fanon thing, not a canon thing.

Okay that's all, and thank you for listening to my Ted Talk. Also female pokemon characters deserve better. And simple plot does not equal bad writing, unless the execution suck. Okay bye

What about the rivals and friends in the Emissary Au? What are their stories?

Anon you’ve made me very happy for asking about my au *simp eyes emoji*

And oops, it has a lot of characters in it. Hope you don’t mind this going under the cut!

The stories and goals of protagonists, rivals, and other friends:

Red - As stated in a previous post, Red wants to go on a journey through the Kanto region. He would like to be friends with both Blue and Green, but they both seem to be fighting off his advances. While he originally elects to ignore Team Rocket, he can’t stand by once they start hurting Pokemon. (His starter is Charmander)

Blue - Blue wants to prove to his Gramps that he can be the strongest trainer ever. He and Red used to be friends, but Blue’s bluntness pushed the two of them apart. He sees Red as the only obstacle between him and greatness. Not so fun fact is that his greatest fear is ghosts - including ghost types. (His starter is Squirtle)

Green - Taking inspiration from pokespe, Green is a thief. She knows it’s wrong to steal, but doesn’t mind doing it in order to keep her head above water. She makes off with the last starter from Oak’s lab, and later runs into Red and Blue when she steals from them. While she seems open to being friends with Red, Blue gets on her nerves. (Her starter is Bulbasaur)

Ethan - Ethan wants to become the strongest trainer who ever lived. His goal is to beat Lance and become Champion, and then challenge Kanto after that. He gets caught up in Team Rocket not because of justice, but because Proton criticizes his battle skills. (His starter is Cyndaquil)

Lyra - Lyra originally just follows Ethan to help get an egg for Professor Elm, but then sticks with Ethan in order to raise Togepi herself and also to make sure Ethan doesn’t get himself killed. She ends up getting separated from Ethan and Silver when she decides to help Eusine hunt for Suicune, which rapidly goes wrong. (Her starter is Chikorita)

Silver - Silver, like Green, steals his starter. His goal is to stop Team Rocket at any cost. He reluctantly teams up with Ethan and Lyra at the Goldenrod Radio Tower, and gets dragged along. He’s reluctant to become Ethan’s friend, but even more reluctant to tell him why he hates Team Rocket so much. Silver also hates how Ethan has absolutely zero strategy in battle, and it gets them into many arguments. (His starter is Totodile)

Brendan - Brendan originally starts challenging the gyms to prove to his dad that’s he’s strong. But as time passes, Brendan realizes that Hoenn isn’t perfect, and through talking with Steven, decides that he’s going to become champion so he can make the world a better place for both people and pokemon. He also primarily fights Team Magma, and in the Battle of Sootopolis, fights with Maxie. (His starter is Treeko)

May - May is Birch’s daughter, and immediately inserts herself as Brendan’s new best friend. She travels with Brendan because Birch can’t handle her raw, chaotic energy. May has no idea what she wants to do when she grows up, but she’s okay with that. She’s more about enjoying the experience. In the Battle of Sootopolis, she fights with Archie, which is a much more dangerous fight than Brendan’s fight with Maxie. (Her starter is Mudkip)

Lucas - Lucas is Rowan’s assistant. He’s a bit uptight, and doesn’t appreciate Dawn and Barry’s antics. Originally, he was sent on a fetch quest by Rowan and Dawn’s mother to find her after she ran away from home, but then decides to play tour guide to help Dawn live her life the way she wants to. (His starter is Chimchar)

Dawn - Dawn’s mother is very rich, and very overprotective. Overprotective to the point that she’s having the family move to Kanto so Dawn can’t go on her journey around Sinnoh. So, she runs away from home with her friend Barry after stealing from Rowan on accident. Cynthia convinces her to actually try to make something of her journey, and Dawn gains a lot of confidence as she fights the gyms and Team Galactic. (Her starter is Piplup)

Barry - Barry convinces Dawn to run away from home. He wants to rush through all the gyms to get strong enough to fight his dad, but Dawn convinces him to slow down and enjoy the journey. According to his list of fines, Team Galactic should file for bankruptcy. (His starter is Turtwig)

Hilbert - He’s a genius. Hilbert is an excelling student, but has more of an interest in staying a kid than learning to be a businessman or politician. He goes on his journey with his twin sister, Hilda, and friends Cheren and Bianca. He’s also the first one of the group to trust N despite being the King of Team Plasma. Hilbert ends up becoming the champion of Unova, but ultimately meets a terrible fate. (His starter is Oshawott)

Hilda - If Hilbert’s the brains, Hilda’s the brawn. She’s very driven, and is striving to become an entrepreneur. But of what, she’s not sure yet. She also is very accepting of N, and realizes that he doesn’t quite realize how little power he has in his situation. After the defeat of Team Plasma when Hilbert goes missing, Hilda is the one to recruit Rosa and Nate to help find him. (Her starter is Tepig)

N - The King of Team Plasma. N asks the twins to join the team, and is slightly disappointed when they refuse, because they seem like nice people. That being said, N doesn’t get along very well with Cheren. Over time, he starts to realize that maybe Hilbert and Hilda are better people than his father. Once Hilbert goes missing, N goes into hiding to avoid being the next victim, all while searching for his best friend.

Nate - Nate wants to be the new champion. Or at least, he thought he did. As Nate and his friend Rosa are forced to help Hilda fight off Neo Team Plasma, Nate realizes that battling isn’t really for him. Instead, he finds that he enjoys pretending to be someone else for stealth missions, and that translates afterwards to a love of acting. (His starter is Tepig)

Rosa - Rosa wanted a cute pokemon and to travel with her best friend. She didn’t mean to meet N, or later Hilda, or get caught up in Neo Team Plasma’s plot. But she finds that she’s a rather good leader. Plus, there’s Colress, who seems to be pulling the strings on the opposing side, yet doesn’t seem to believe in their goals himself. Rosa is the only one on her side to consider that Colress could be a hero if he tried - however, he disagrees. (Her starter is Snivy)

Calem - Calem has amnesia. That’s the problem with him trying to tell his story. Calem woke up passed out on the steps of Sycamore’s lab with Serena and Shauna staring at him. He accompanies them on their journey hoping that traveling Kalos will trigger his memories to return. All he remembers is that he needs to tell the professor something important. Maybe it has something to do with his irrational hatred for Team Flare. (His starter is Froakie)

Serena - Serena wants to be champion. She planned on traveling the region with her best friend, only to get two extra passengers. Calem, who is contributing nothing to her journey, and Victor, who wants to take photos of everyone but her. Over time though, Serena comes to appreciate both of them as her close group of friends - and Victor maybe more than friends. But Team Flare is awfully suspicious, and a passionate person like Serena isn’t going to let them get away with whatever they’re planning. (Her starter is Fennekin)

Shauna - Shauna, on the other hand, loves her new friends. She’s ready to make memories with Serena and the others, but is also one of the first to realize that maybe there’s a reason Calem showed up right when Team Flare really started to bother the region. (Her starter is Chespin)

Elio - Elio has always lived in Alola, and is thrilled to be hosting Selene for the summer. While they both start the Island Challenge, Elio quickly gets sidetracked by worrying about Team Skull and forming a rivalry at first sight with Gladion. Elio is much more interested in working under Nanu and getting him to arrest the gang members. He quickly realizes that won’t happen. (His starter is Litten)

Selene - Selene is Dawn’s younger sister. Dawn managed to stay in Sinnoh, but Selene was forced to move to Kanto. She convinced her mother to let her spend a summer in Alola with Elio and his mother, and then of course found a loophole with Kukui to go on her Island Challenge. Selene spends lots of time with Hau and Lillie, and also helps to convince Guzma that Lusamine is not going to provide him with the help she’s promising. (Her starter is Rowlett)

Victor - Victor actually makes his debut in Kalos. He’s a photographer trying to photograph famous people in the region, and follows the Kalos party in order to best find the gym leaders. Along the way, he falls in love with Serena, and when he heads back to Galar, she gives him a present that sets in motion the future. During his sister’s Gym Challenge, Rose recruits Victor to be his and Leon’s personal photographer, which puts Victor in incredible danger - even if Rose doesn’t realize quite how much power Victor brought from Kalos.

Gloria - A feisty trainer ready to take on the Gym Challenge and Leon. She feels like something isn’t quite right in Galar, and willing to work with Sonia to figure it out, but not if it gets in the way of her training. Along the way, she becomes good friends with Marnie, and has a friendly rivalry with Bede. She may also have a slight crush on Hop, but that’s not her biggest worry. (Her starter is Sobble)

Hop - Hop has always wanted to challenge his brother, and doing it with Gloria by his side is perfect. However, as he continues to lose to his rival and fall behind, he loses confidence. It takes saving Leon and the world to make Hop believe in himself again. (His starter is Scorbunny)

In addition, there’s a little girl. She has a large straw hat and a Pikachu. She appears all across the regions, talking about things that have happened, and things that are yet to come. She seems kind, but perhaps she knows more than she lets on. If so, some terrible predictions may come to pass, but the return of old foes? That’s not possible, right?

WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO WRITE WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING?

My favorite things are crack and fluff. Not just romantic crack and fluff. I also love throwing in fankids and adopted fankids and making wholesome domestic fluff. Mal is also a part of my OTF (One True Fanmily) after all: which is Lysandre and Malva adopting Serena as their child. If you want, I can throw in my existing Lys x Mal fankids (Sylvestre and Ariella), we can make our own, or even both! Onto less wholesome topics, I'd rather not write abuse or extremely toxic relationships, though. I don't feel like I can portray it sensitively, so I'd rather leave that storyline for those who can, especially abuse victims, and amplify their voices instead of raising my own. I might do smut with adult muses like Malva in private/discord, but only with my very closest mutuals that I've known for a long time. If I'm comfortable smutting with you, chances are I'll approach you and not the other way around. Even then, I probably won't bc I'm shy :v

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?

10 years at the very most, but with younger characters, I tolerate even less of an age gap. I largely go by whether it internally feels creepy or not, which is a huge part of why I won't ship a canon minor with a canon adult no matter what aging shenanigans go on. The only exception would be if their depiction of a minor could be reasonable believed to be so far back in the past that they're an adult at the current timeline point: for example, this is why Blue x Malva might happen, but Calem x Malva never ever will.

ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?

Very. I have trust issues as it is to where I have trouble even letting myself follow people unless I already know them, so that says about all you need to know.

HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY ARE CONSIDERED NS/FW?

WHO ARE THE OTHER CHARACTERS YOU SHIP YOUR CHARACTER WITH?

My main other ship for Malva is with Diantha. I'd love a ship with a Flannery, though! I'm iffy on Lorelei because one of my best friends's Lorelei is mutually HCed to be Malva's cousin, and I likely won't be able to shake off that incesty feeling when trying to ship with a different Lorelei. Malva x adult OCs might be shippable if there's chemistry...👀

WHAT SHIPS ARE YOUR NOTPS FOR YOUR MUSE?

I added this question in so I can disclaim that I will never ship Malva with ANY of the protags in Kalos or beyond. I doubt I'll even feel comfortable shipping her with protags in Unova, too. Malva x Serena would be the worst one, though: as with Lys x Serena and Syca x Serena, I'm so attached to my found family AUs for Serena that this ship would feel like both p-do AND incest. Anyone trying to ship their Serena or other Kalos protags/rivals with Malva romantically and/or sexually will be instantly hardblocked.

Serena and Zygarde

“Bye Hilda! Bye Vivi!” Hilda waved at Hilda and Vivienne. Saying goodbye was the hardest part of any sleepover, but she loved her time spent with her friends anyway.

“Bye!!!” Hilda was waving as she and Vivienne were walking away. “Thanks for the sleepover~.”

Vivienne giggled. “Goodbye, child. Thank your mother for the cookies as well!”

“No problem! See ya!”

The three continued to wave goodbye as Vivienne and Hilda left the town to go their separate ways. Then, Serena turned around to return in the house.

Meanwhile, inside, Artemis-Zygarde was sitting patiently with Delphox. She had expected to leave with Hilda and Vivienne, but Serena insisted that they needed to talk afterwards. She hoped that her friend was alright.

Serena eventually did return inside and sat down across from Artemis. “Alright. Everyone’s gone.” She sighed in relief. “Man, that was fun.”

“Indeed. It was good to spend some time with my sister and my friends.”

“Right? Haven’t had this much fun since Tierno and Shauna were here!” She giggled. “Anyway, thanks for staying. I know you’re busy, but I just needed to talk to you.”

Artemis shook her head. “My other cores are busy enough, so it is good to have at least one to relax.”

“...oh right. I forgot that those aren’t your twin sisters--”

“They are not, though... speaking of which.... I apologize for failing to inform you of who I am. You did not need to find out in the manner that you did. I pray that this knowledge does not negatively affect our friendship.”

Cue a giggle. “N--no! No! It’s fine. I understand. Vivi took a while to tell me that she was Xerneas, so I get it. We’re still good friends.”

“Okay. Good.” Artemis leaned back. “Soooo, what did you want to talk about?”

Serena sat up. “Do you... remember... the day we met?”

Artemis blinked blankly. “Of course I do. We had a trainer battle when I wa--”

“No.” Serena shook her head. “Not that. The... real... day we met. You know... 6 years ago?”

“....” Artemis blinked. For a moment, she was trying to imagine meeting her as a human all of those years ago. She doesn’t even remember going out as a human much 6 year--

Wait.

Oh.

“....You were one of those humans who trespassed in my home and challenged me to a battle--.”

“Y--yeah. Listen, I--”

“I do not want to hear your excuses or apologies....”

“!” Serena flinched.

“...because it is all in the past now. I... am not the same dragon that you met all of those years ago. I... changed.”

“...Arty....”

Artemis looked back at Serena. “...Do you know what I used to do to people who trespassed on my domain? I... used to eat them. I would defeat their Pokémon, severely injure the human and eat both the human and their Pokémon... one... after... another.”

Delphox jumped this time. She couldn’t imagine being in that situation.

“...But I spared you.... I spared you and Calem. Twice in his case.”

“W--wait. Hold on. Calem went twice!?”

She nodded. “Indeed. He never told you, but Calem returned to my home to challenge me and prove himself weeks before his meeting with Yveltal. He was no match for me, but I spared him a second time. That is why I told you that he looked familiar.”

“Wh--what!?” She was in shock. “B--but... but Vivi told him--”

“...He did not listen.” She would have killed him that day had she known that he would have gone against her sister’s wishes.... Maybe killing him would have been the best, she thought. He would have been spared an even more gruesome death with Yveltal.

Serena was almost in tears. “C--calem. You... you fucking idiot--”

“....” Artemis sighed. “You both... smelled of Xerneas.... You and Calem had her scent and aura. I had believed that she had chosen the both of you at the time.... That she had given her blessing to two humans who had possibly ventured to see me on her request. I... I could not truly harm two humans who were so trusting to my sister. I thought to myself, ‘she must love them because they were pure of heart... these must be two humans who have come to prove me wrong that humans can be selfless... that have compassion and empathy... that they do not exist to hurt me or those I care about....’ Thus, I spared you and he, hoping that, one day, you may prove that I was right....”

Silence.

“...While I was unfortunate to never truly get to know your friend before his demise, you, Serena.... You proved to me time and time again that I... I was right. That she was right to choose you as her ally and friend.”

Serena started to sniffle as the tears came fighting back.

“...Thank you, Serena.... Thank you for everything that you’ve done.”

“....” And comes the waterworks. “A--Arty!!!” Serena quickly got out of her chair and went to grip Artemis in a tight embrace. “Y--you.... Th--thank you!!! Th--tha--thank you so much!”

Artemis stood before Serena could tackle her so that Serena could hug her standing up. She hugged back as a tear pierced her eye.

There was silence for a while. Both of them cherished this moment. A great burden was lifted from the both of them, like a large boulder lifted from each of their chests.

Then, eventually, Serena broke the hug -- and the silence. “A--Arty? C--can I... ask a favor of you?”

“?” Artemis nodded. “You can ask me anything, Serena.”

“C--can I.... can I challenge you one more time...? I know that Calem has been gone for two years, but I know that he always wanted me to prove myself to you one more time to show to you how much I’ve learned in the years that I haven’t seen you. So, please... for closure? For his sake?”

Artemis-Zygarde nodded. “Once more... for his sake. I will not hold back, either.”

“...I wouldn’t want it any other way.... Zygarde.”

Unpopular Opinion Time

Speaking of disappointment of games: Dual Destinies. I got a hot take for it based on the first two cases I’ve finished for it and one for AA in general.

1. I don’t get the hype for Simon Blackquill at all nor find him intimidating, he’s at the “meh, he exists” category in my eyes. Yes, I know he most likely has a deeper story like Godot & the squad and you’ll find that out later but the other prosecutors were built better from the get-go and were more legit in the setting itself. A prosecutor who’s dark, shady and is threatening ppl the worst way anyone yet has yet is allowed to be in a case with his obviously biased way of thinking...? I saw that already in Edgey and Fran, and they were done better.

If his character/the setup was built in a better way like f. ex baiting the player to believe the reason was corruption/Simon was in the civil service or less severe for the reason I would’ve bought it better. But now? The whole intensity is lost and I just want to sludge through the 2nd case just to find something out of enjoyment. The proper villains/antagonists are the ones you find intimidating and somewhat interesting first and better/more genuine after spoilers, and Simon isn’t one of them to me. This is a wanna-be edgy prosecutor to me and nothing else until proven otherwise. I really hope that he gets better in DD and that I can say that in the end he wasn’t as bad as Calem “I swear I’m a neighbor rival” who I had to add details to myself bc Kalos characterization is a big joke.¨

(Also if they really assume you to buy he can just stroll in there, do his cases and then rot in prison again I’m only thinking how the system at AA just doesn’t care if they let an idiot like that determine lives. No fucking wonder Nick tried to update it at AA4, the whole system is beyond saving if the final idea of AA4 was tossed aside for drama.)

2. I don’t get people who ship immediately after one game (like AA1 or AA2). Wrightworth, a more common ship at the AA fandom is apretty good example in this. Some ppl were claiming Edgey liked Phoenix bc one line but it’s stretching in my opinion and there’s not really that many romantic cues, and instead the last cases of the first game focus on them rebuilding their former friendship & you kinda need that before you establish the rivals -> friends -> lovers scheme alot of fans see.

AA2 has something people can interpret as sth but I see it to be more of mutual trust, and even though the Trilogy forms some ship basis it requires the time since Edgeworth is kinda absent from the majority of the cases & they’d most likely try distant. If you want more evidence, AA3 has good material at the last case. Edgey is unintentionally overreacting to the fact how Phoenix fell to a river and organized everything so he could trick the judge that he’s a defense attorney for a favor.

I see why people ship them but I see them as close friends who reunited later and now are frenemies like the AA4 setup has Klavier and Apollo to be. Idk what the original writers intended but I adore how they’re in sync after tough times & are best friends who sorted out their differences.

Mage: Chapter 51- The Aftermath

Part 1- The Aftermath

When we finally got back to the safety of the outpost, we thought we would be given a hero’s welcome for our hard work, as it turned out that couldn’t have been further from the truth. Almost as soon as we got back, we were taken to a large facility near the outpost along with all of the others who had been in the city. We were told that the government was worried that due to our close contact with the creatures in the city we may carry and spread the so-called virus and cause another outbreak later down the line. The facility they kept us all in was cramped and baron of any real distinguishing features. Alex was about to lose it and try and break out after a couple of day’s but luckily we all managed to talk him out of that before he did anything stupid. We ended up being kept locked up under the guard’s watchful eyes for a whole month before they were finally convinced that we were safe to re-enter society. Even though we had only been locked up for four weeks, so much had changed that it might as well have been years. The government had tried to keep everything that had happened in the city. They swore everyone who knew what had happened to silence under non-specific threats, I even heard of a few more loose-lipped people disappearing under suspicious circumstances. Even with all there efforts, somehow the story got leaked to the media. Within a week the story was being spread everywhere by everyone. Riots were starting up all across the country, from Sol Dantol to Seaside. The government went into full damage control, saying that they had no other choice and that if they hadn’t have done what they did it could have spread across the entire country. Even though what they said was pretty much all true, by that point there were no stopping things, the publics' rage was growing at an exponential rate with many even calling the actions taken as treason. In the end, an emergency vote was ordered with many guilds being hired to take and count the ballets. In the end, the current president and his entire party were deposed and replaced by a new one, promising to be more open and honest with the public. Even with the changes in the government, the people still didn’t feel any safer. The horrors that had happened in the city were out for all to see and the people knew that at any moment for any reason the same thing could happen to them.

Part 2- Crossed Paths

Liz, Alex, and Bip waved at Edgar and Calem as they walked off in the other direction. They watched until they were completely out of sight. The group stood alone in an empty wide-open field just outside the makeshift camp that they had been kept in for the last weeks.

“Well… looks like this is it,” Liz said. “ So what’s next.”

“Well I guess the next step would be to go to Steel Lake and see what we can dig up there,” replied Alex.

“Sounds like a plan to me, Let’s book it back to the nearest city and we can catch a bus to…”

Liz turned around to walk off before stopping in her tracks as she sores a familiar figure standing in front of her.

“Well well, it looks like you really were in the city like they said,” Es said as he stared down the pair. “If I had known that going into the city I might have gone a little faster.”

“Wh… what the hell are you doing here,” stammered Liz?

“Oh, nothing really… just catching up with an old friend.”

Liz took up a fighting stance, spawning in sharpened icicles all around her pointing towards Es. Alex followed Liz, reaching out his hand and spawning his blade in a cloud of smoke before preparing himself for a fight.

“Yeah… I find that hard to believe,” Alex said.

“Haha… you have such a low opinion of me. Honestly, I’m only here to see how much you’ve changed, although if I could, I definitely would like to test your new strength but that not in the cards so whatever.”

“And why exactly is it out of the cards?” Asked Liz.

Es looked away off into the distance.

“Government's been tracking my every step, pretty sure they have someone watching me right now in fact. Something about keeping me in check and making sure I don’t go spreading any nasty little secrets, don’t know why it matters… I mean not that it matters anyway, everyone already knows everything that went down in the city now anyway… Anyway if you remember thanks to you I'm not actually a mage, so if I killed you it would be straight to jail for me.” Es said before looking back to the others still standing ready to fight at a moment's notice. “ Would you two drop it already, I said I'm not gonna attack you… what more do you want?"

“You to leave… now!” Liz ordered.

Es shifted his gaze across to focus solely on Liz. His eyes met hers, noticing a dark and ominous oraer circling around just behind them. He let out a slight chuckle.

“Looks like you’ve changed a lot since the last time we met. You’ve seen some shit haven’t you, or maybe even done some, never the less your not the same scared, frankly pathetic little girl I fought before,” Es taunted before looking back across to Alex. “You’ve noticed it to… haven’t you.”

Alex locked eyes with Es for a moment before averting his gaze away, trying to block Es’s words out, despite already knowing it to be true.

“I’d really love to fight you now but oh well… guess that nothing can be done about it.”

Liz growled an irritated growl as her gaze grew more and more frustrated and bloodthirsty.

“Ok… ok. geez you guys are no fun,” teased Es before turning around and beginning to walk away. As he walked he waved behind him. “Until next time…”

Liz and Alex watched as Es walked off into the distance before letting down their guard.

“Can you believe him, just showing up here and expecting us to trust him, yeah as if. And what was all that crap about me changing, honestly what is he talking about?”

Alex once again averted his gaze as he thought on Es’s words. He turned around and walked off, ignoring Liz's question.

“Come on, let's get going,” Alex muttered as he walked.

Liz looked at Alex as he walked off before staring down at her own hands for a few seconds. She shook her head snapping herself out of it before following on after Alex.

Part 3- The Clean Up

A large group of people covered in yellow hazmat suits rummaged around in the ash and scorched earth. One of the people grabbed at a large piece of scorched black metal and with a hefty push moved it to the side. They looked back to where the metal had once sat, their eyes widening at what they sore. Underneath was a small safe completely untouched by the fires that had destroyed the city. A man dressed in a suit and tie with masks covering their mouths as they looked over all the workers going about there business. General Barker walked up beside the pair.

“Thank you for coming down here mister president, but I assure you we have the whole situation under control,”

“That may be the case but even still I need to ensure that we find it. such a power… it would be a shame if it were to be lost forever.”

“General… General!” came a yell from further down the scorched street.

The pair looked over to the source of the noise to see one of the men in hazmat suits running over to them at full speed. They came to a complete stop as they reached the pair, taking a moment to catch their breath.

“Oh… mister president…you’re here too,” the man panted.

“Don’t be so rude, this is the president your speaking to…” General Barker scolded.

“Don’t worry about it, what do you have to report soldier,” said the president.

The soldier looked up to the president for a moment before reaching up to hand to him, holding a piece of neatly rolled paper up to him.

“Sir…” The man panted. “We found it.”
