So, your Clear Sky post is absolutely horrifying, but it was very needed, so thank you. What are your general thoughts on tackling his abuse for the AU? Like you've said, pretending he's a good guy is not the way to go, but are you planning on toning down *some* of the situations, just to give some of the cats a break? Clear Sky is a very realistic depiction of abusers, but that seems to come across even without victim number 25, yknow? I'm very curious about how you'd like to go about this.

My most recent big change was bringing Slash back into the fold, because I realized that it was actually a disservice to not address where DOTC's themes dip into Colonialism. It's a hard topic, and I'm still trying to work out the details, but I realized it was important.

With how BB!DOTC is such a MASSIVE overhaul, to properly address abuse and the ways it impacts you, ableism and its violence, and xenophobia broadly, a huge reworking of Slash belonged here too. He's one of the greatest examples of how badly WC demonizes non-Clanborn cats. I shouldn't dance around it.

That's what I need to do with Skystar.

MANY of his victims have happier endings than canon, though. Bumble is one of the most famous, bumped up into a major character and directly responsible for the formation of ThunderClan. Bright Storm is taking most of Gray Wing's roles. Birch and Alder are getting examined, with either a father who wants his kids back or Milkweed as the mate of Misty.

A lot of people will die because of him, even more will be hurt, but I see BB!DOTC as a story about victims and survivors.

Others might grab POVs here and there, but as a response to canon which I feel is Clear Sky's story told in many parts, I center this rewrite around Thunder Storm. The path of kindness he marches down, with love and with anger, and the people he helps.

So BB!Star Flower...

Previously I was playing her as ENTIRELY just manipulating Clear Sky. She was loyal to One Eye and trying to get at Skystar to bleed him dry for 8 lives to sacrifice; but connected to Thunderstar over recognizing him as a victim who deserves her idea of justice. So, she offers Thunderstar the final kill, so her father will be grateful to him and he'll get power AND the death of his abuser.

(When Thunderstar looks upon Skystar, pathetic and neutralized down to one life, he thinks about the collateral damage that will descend upon the forest if he accepts the deal. He decides that he has found the line between Justice and Justification. Of course he wants the power to make his enemies cower, protect his people, and eliminate Clear Sky so he never threatens them again; that's not the problem.

He can still do these things. He wouldn't NEED the power of a war god to do so.

But if One Eye returns, he will be endlessly hungry, ruthlessly dedicated to revenge, and set out to devour the whole forest. Everything would get worse, and even more people he loves would die. It's where his desire to destroy a monster would lead to him BECOMING one.)

Even on its face, it was previously missing an element. There's a step between "Starf decides to bring One Eye back" and "Starf offers Thunderstar the final kill" that was bare. This is the piece that was missing-- That she, herself, is trying to reach out to the only person who's ever really understood her.

But more importantly... I do feel this topic belongs here, in BB!DOTC. Abuse is a MAJOR theme. SKYSTAR is a monster already. He's harmed two wives in BB (Bright Storm and Falling Cry) and played toxic games with all three kits (Thunder Storm, Pale Sky, Tiger Sky).

And I'd avoid Star Flower being abused... why? Because it's uncomfortable to confront the pattern that Clear Sky displays? That in-canon, he tries to cut all his victims into the same ideal shape, from Storm to Thunder to Star Flower? ...it should be uncomfortable. Everything that I described in Clear Sky Is A Monster is rooted in the same desire for control, power, and punishment most abusive people share, he just happens to be a severe example.

Yes. That includes how he treats his child and romantic partners. The parallels that are drawn between Starf and Thunder are there because he wants power in the form of obedience. Starf replaces the son as a narrative award for his "growth" of not killing random people anymore for a while.

A cookie cutter is an effective tool because IT ONLY MAKES ONE SHAPE.

You know what's more uncomfortable? Reading canon!DOTC and seeing someone who hurt you reflected almost perfectly in the character the writers think did nothing wrong. Because of "good intentions" that were not there.

I will say though, just to be clear; I don't see a purpose in being more than PG-13 about serious topics for this project. I promise none of my intentions have changed. Nothing will be more graphic or gorey than canon WC-- just more intentional.

I'm keeping the sacrifice because it's dope. No one is taking this from me. Girl Moment: Killed her awful husband 8 times to count as 8 sacrifices and offered the last life to her buddy as a show of good will. How else do you make friends outside of high school

But I know now that Star Flower NEEDS to keep the canon fact she has very little agency, UNTIL that moment she snaps.

She's sacrificing one abuser to try and bring back a bigger, badder one, because in spite of everything, her father One Eye always made her feel safe. Even though he promised her off to Skystar, and expected her to be willing to die for him. She's followed every command, every order, past the death of his mortal vessel.

The first, and only, selfish choice she's ever made was in reaching out to Thunderstar to offer him the power of her father.

Thunderstar's Justice is a story about a Thunder Storm at the pinnacle of his arc, how the survivors of his Clan are settling into the new normal after the carnage of The First Battle, how Skystar's arrogance brings a violent god to the Forest... and the connection Thunderstar makes with the daughter of a monster.

Poppy: What’s one of your biggest headcanons for the series?

OH definitely my conceit that mistyfoot/star is like. convinced she is destined to lose everything and everyone she’s ever loved. and it keeps happening so she keeps getting proven right. + the idea that she was basically given up by her mom so she could become leader and feels bitter about that and YET she continues to Be Like Her Mother, she is SO MUCH like her mom in so many ways, and ultimately she ends up going down the same path as her mom. and all of that comes together to conclude that she is Doomed By the Narrative and one of the most tragic characters in warriors. i could elaborate on this more because i have SO many thoughts about mistyfoot & she’s my favorite character but i’ll leave it there so this doesn’t get crazy long and it involves a lot of intertwining headcanons about her life. okay

Petunia: Which arc is your favorite? Which is your least favorite?

i have pretty standard opinions on this (best arc is arc 1, worst arc is currently standing at omen of the stars but asc is giving it a run for its money) so i’ll throw in my two cents that i think warriors as a series should have ended with arc 1

Laurel: If you could write the books, what changes would you make?

hoooooooly shit okay. there are almost an infinity of changes but i’ll try to hit the big ones, in no particular order:

1. LGBT representation (they would never do this i am aware that is why i would be implementing it myself)

2. firepaw has a crush on spottedleaf but she never sees him as anything more than (affectionately) a little brother, which is why she ends up as a starclan guide for him going forward

3. mistyfoot & leopardfur toxic yuri relationship is integral to the narrative

4. brambleclaw and squirrelflight are written well and are Cute. sandstorm and firestar of the second arc. they have a rough moment where brambleclaw feels lied to post-hollyleaf’s parentage reveal at the gathering but they get through it. sigh

5. the tribe does not exist was never written into the books and is not relevant. God.

6. general fixing of misogyny and abusive relationships UNLESS that’s vital to the narrative. but it HAS to be purposeful in the way it is not currently

7. that one headcanon about tawnypelt having brambleclaw’s deputy arc from TNP

8. mothwing as the three’s sire like SORRY i know it’s cliche for me to say that but genuinely fuck crowfeather (speaking of Fuck Crowfeather nightcloud gets a wife but that’s not particularly story relevant)

9. the series ends after omen of the stars. oots has decent bones at least. sorry to sparkpelt fans/twigbranch fans/frostpaw fans but i think all the books after that arc are stinky poo poo garbage and oots is like the OBVIOUS ending point. this would mean i would have to sacrifice the last little bit of mistystar’s Tragic Character Arc but that’s a sacrifice i’m willing to make

10. NO dotc. garbage trash dumpster fire of a book series. DIE (we can see the founders in starclan and get a sense of their personalities and such or whatever but that book series is agony to read. sorry dotc fans)

I would give my left arm to see what happens in stolag to a cat like Puddleshine aka any cat chosen to be a medicine cat/seer out of sheer desperation - because they are in fierce need of one. I can’t imagine it happens the same way in Stolag but like... what happens? Is there a seer council protocol for “oh fuck oh heck oh geez, both the seer and the seer apprentice in this one clan are diggity dead what do we DO!!!”

so the shortest possible answer is this basically never happens.

you're also never going to get a puddleshine situation where an existing cat is chosen to learn medicine. i explain in this ask what happens if there are extra seers in the other clans; basically, one of the extras would move clans.

the reasons apprentices are given to the oldest seer, and the reason it's punishable by exile and/or death to harm a seer, is because they are the spiritual centre of a clan.

this comes up a tiny bit in cinderpelt's piece:

Now, she led the evening prayer alone.

Runningcloud was doing his best, and she couldn't begin to imagine how hard this would be on her own.

He came to their den each night exhausted. The Clan was sick and weak, could barely feed itself.

we've seen three out of four clans in stolag, and we will see windclan before the series is over, but suffice to say, they all have dramatically different roles for their seers.

riverclan might be able to tell a seer that they can use bones for omens, but thunderclan wouldn't be able to mention the sightstone, and the average shadowclan warrior isn't going to know all of the prayers and when to use each one.

yellowpaw being shown the sightstone in starclan:

"You don't need to be able to read it," Cloudberry said, "but by having seen it, you are the next seer in a line unbroken who knows of the Sightstone."

grieving for the living

and basically, the point is, there hasn't been a gap in who can read the sightstone in history. (i mean, there might be, but it's been a long time, and that's the point.)

spottedleaf being passive aggressive when leopardstar reveals the bones to tigerstar:

Leopardstar told him she could read the bones, and he so would drag her in front of the crowd, asking her to read the cast-offs from the bone pile.

"These aren't the last bones that will be spread on this earth," she said. "There will be more, and blood beneath them."

where the spirit meets the bones

adfsj yeah spottedleaf is pissed about that. it's not some magic trick, and tigerstar shouldn't know about it.

cinderpaw on the sheer volume of shadowclan traditions:

She had so much to learn, about the movement of the stars and when to say which prayer. Learning herbs felt easy by comparison.

so if you lose both seers, you don't have a way to get all of that cultural context back, not fully. yes, there's starclan, but...how starclan works in stolag is complicated, and until i publish "in a faith-forgotten land," i'm being a little cagey about it.

okay, but what if there's no extra full seers?

well, it depends. if they had an apprentice who'd completed their medical training, they might send them to that clan. who they'd pick is complicated, and i'd say this is a rare and singular instance where they might send a cat back to the clan they were born in, entirely because they would know more about the spirituality/culture.

if no apprentice was ready to take care of the medical needs of a clan, they would try to speedrun that training and send them to the new clan asap.

a clan can survive without a cat trained in their culture and religion, but losing a medicine cat can lead to unnecessary deaths. i'm hesitant about how much seers do, medically, but they don't do nothing, so you want one around asap.

last case, what if there are only 3 seers? (i.e., no apprentices)

this is the hardest solution to solve. it's also pretty uncommon, because seers tend to get omens when they're "running low" on seers. again, analysing the practice as a religious explanation for a functional purpose, it makes sense that kits would be chosen when there were around 6 full seers, to make sure you don't get a puddleshine situation.

i'd even wager that there hasn't been a problem like this since dotc.

but what if it did happen? oh yeah, the seer council is going to flip their shit. because that's a problem that just...can't be solved for like, a year. it takes a year to go from kit to medically trained seer, and that's a long-ass time.

likely, a cat who knew literally anything about medicine (e.g., brightheart) would serve the role of doctor, meeting with the seers at least every half moon, likely every quarter moon, to make sure their knowledge is secure. if there wasn't such a cat in the clan, a seer from a clan with such a cat might go to the clan without a seer.

again, a clan can survive without a seer as a religious figure, but not without a doctor.

seers are sworn to support the clans as a unit, not one clan, so which clan is missing a seer might even revolve. is minnowleap about to have her kits? well, a seer should be there to make sure things go okay, and to confirm the names to starclan. oh, is there a greencough outbreak in thunderclan? send a seer there.

you get the idea.

likely, seers will be flush with apprentices: within a period of three months, i'd expect all of the existing seers to have found new kit seers.

once seers have apprentices, things get a little easier. you can leave an apprentice seer alone in the clan for a day or two, if you need to, and the burden just starts to decrease rapidly.

unfortunately, a good amount of cultural knowledge is going to be lost. but the clans will eventually recover.

like i said, that doesn't happen very often.

savannah- oh yes, absolutely. scenes that made me cry: firestar's death and the entirety of the great battle, sorreltail's death, gray wing's death, tigerstar's death (first and second, it's embarassing and i'm not proud), CROOKEDSTAR'S PROMISE. scenes that made me laugh: ok when all the apps jumped bone was funny, when leopardstar roasted darkstripe, everything that jayfeather does, graystripe. also sandpaw and dustpaw was really funny to me idk why

japanese bobtail- riverclan all the way. i mean I love thunderlcna too but riverclan has always been my go-to clan.

snowshoe- brackenfur and sorreltail. this is all I have to say. (also valid are squirrelflight and brambleclaw, despite how I feel about them as a couple)

birman- the scene with firestar and bramblepaw in the darkest hour (I think?) where it starts to snow. it's just the most wholesome scene ever. also all of the great journey. i just love seeing my murder cats being a big family <3333333

siberian- my favorite arc has to be the first one. you just cannot go wrong with it, it's so classic, and the thunderclan lineup throughout it? a++. my favorite thunderclan lineup had to be the darkest hour allegiances, though. (all my faves in one book!!). my least favorite arc was probably the broken code, although I haven't read it, just know it from spoilers and tumblr and stuff. i haven't read any of the recent arcs, I kind of just know what happens. my least favorite arc that I read was omen of the stars, I don't even remember what happened in any book but the last hope.

somali- forest all the way and forever. there's just something so nostalgic about it, which is why dawn always makes me cry, and also why I loved dotc so much. i just love the forest, and it's got a special place in my heart. (hot take but skyclan coming back was bad and I didn't like it even though I haven't read the new books, I just feel like it's kind of weird especially for the lake territories).

maine coon- my three favorite characters in general are firestar, brambleclaw (not star), and brackenfur. i feel like firestar gives off kai or ryan energy. why? i have no idea. i want brambleclaw's name to be gender neutral so I would name him alex or sam. (I'm a brambleflower truther). brackenfur is the sweetest boy on the planet so i think he deserves a name like that. nolan, because i associate that name with like kindness and stuff. or aidan, because i associate that name with fatherhood and he's the best father on the planet. my favorite girls are cinderpelt and brightheart. cinderpelt gives off sydney energy (this is definitely not based off a convo that my friend of that same name and i had) and brightheart gives me lillian or lily energy.

sorry idk if this is a dumb question but I really love dotc and ris and I was a bit confused: why didn't oc want to be with jaehyun in the end ?

It's not a dumb question at all. Ask me anything you like whenever. I hope this at least aims at answering your question-It was infuriating.

The charming basketball star hopeful and the girl everyone had vaguely heard of before. Still pleasure came with a side of rosy glasses and she almost let herself fall for the ease their joint rhythm had. It was easy, it was peaceful. Not in the kind of way that felt monotonous after a while, but the kind that made you recognise the smaller things people search for all their lives.

The music blared in her ears so loud that her temples throbbed a little in protest. Still her legs burned from the movement. Jaehyun had gone home for the Autumn break and she had become almost pitifully needy as a result. Classes started again on Monday and she spend that Saturday night running across campus as a means of exercise and a way to channel all the tension settled in her muscles. The one realisation that irritated her the most was one that came with the gravity of how restless his absence made her –It was quite infuriating. Still she was under rosy delusions and she almost let herself believe that this could be what literature and low budget movies try to make you believe. That maybe somewhere between the misery of university life and the uncertainty of an unstable future, could be this type of comfort that could be made permanent if only she asked. Proprietorship was a strange thing, two words could change the course of things so incredibly that it almost felt unreal.

I'm yours.

She had to slow down and stop eventually, hands resting on knees to catch some soothing air in her stinging lungs. Her phone buzzed, the obnoxious watch on her hand lighting up to show the notification. The watch was a gag gift from her high school friends because she always tried her best to be healthy. Currently the watch showed her an Instagram picture of a girl from her old dorm in a picture with Jaehyun beside her on a bar. She slid the notification away and resumed her run with a quicker pace.

He was back. And since the picture was posted a good few hours ago, he had ample time to let her know. Not that he needed to, but she could argue that it was the polite thing to do.

It had been another half an hour of her run and her mind had already gotten so ahead of herself that she was in a daze. When her phone rang, she came to such a startling halt that she almost fell over. Her finger almost slid to answer the call till her exhaustion let her catch up to the name. Her hesitation was short but present nonetheless as she answered.

“Come over.” His voice was soft. She could imagine the small pout on his velvety lips.

“No, I'm tired, I've been running for an hour.” She checked her watch for an estimate, her eyes growing wide at the sudden sound Jaehyun emitted from his throat, somewhere between a whine and a groan.

“Just come over, I want to see your face.” Jaehyun grumbled and she scoffed.

“I'm sure it’s my face.” She scoffed the second time, hanging up.

Jaehyun tapped on the spine of the book in his palms impatiently, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't dying to see her, as he had been all break. But it seemed to scare him too much, making his bones clatter like it was warning of some impending doom.When his door opened, she was annoyed to find him more pleased than shocked. She pouted at him with disapproval.

“I'm sweaty and sticky. I'm not even wearing makeup.” She grimaced as Jaehyun easily pulled her into his arms, leaving a light kiss on her slick temple, making her duck away.

“I need a shower.” She protested but Jaehyun only grinned.

“Later, you'll just get sweaty again.” He kissed her neck with purpose, swaying her.

“But I'm too tired.” She whined softly in protest. Jaehyun stopped his ministrations and looked up, immediately flashing a disappointment through her lower half. Jaehyun watched her eyes carefully, before his lips lifted slightly at the sides. He always smiled like that when he had nothing honourable on his mind, that coupled with his dropping eyes made him so irresistible that it seemed truly unreasonable to resist.

“Come lie down, I'll take care of you.” He smiled invitingly. His offers were always so insanely tempting, her skin hot at every proposal as it was the first. She lay down on the bed wordlessly, her eyes closed to register the sensations of his presence. Slowly he peeled her joggers off, watching her expectantly as she did the same to her top, both items discarded in a rush across the room. The contrast was suddenly stark, she lay in bed absolutely naked and under his scrutiny as eyes roamed her frame. Jaehyun stood in a full attire of jeans and a dark red t-shirt.

“I really did miss you.” Jaehyun breathed out to mostly himself, leaning down back on the floor slowly. He held her ankle gently and pulled her closer to the edge, a wide grin on his face as he left a kiss inside her thighs making her gasp. Slowly he teased around her heat, an action that made her squirm and move around her limbs. When he slowly brushed his nose against her slit she bit down on her bottom lip so harshly that the taste of her mouth turned metallic.

“You're being so impatient today.” Jaehyun hummed against her, enjoying the increasing effects on her. Slowly he licked up, lost in the way his name sounded on her ecstatic lips. It didn't take long for her to grip his hair a little tighter and come undone right below him.

“Let's take that shower now.” Jaehyun's voice was cheeky, laughing at her sleepy nod. He discarded all his unnecessary clothing, slipping into bed in his boxers. Before he could go forward and spoon her, she turned over and buried her face in his chest; her breathing falling into the gentle rhythm of sleep. Jaehyun lay awake with wide eyes, confused by his rapid heart, yet enjoying the way she seemed to fit into him.

The entire morning she was confused by the glances thrown at her way, frequent mumbles fell on her ears and she didn't know if it was just social paranoia or something based in reality.

“He really shouldn't have given you that t-shirt.” Johnny laughed as he sat down beside her. She looked at him with a mixture of confusion and shock.

“That’s his morning after t shirt. Jaehyun means well, someone gifted his this t-shirt but it was far too small and he lets girls wear it.” Johnny hesitated towards the end with labels.

“You mean girls he's slept with.” She inquired and Johnny nodded.

“So everyone here knows I slept with Jung Jaehyun last night.” She sighed, a small glance over the room showing only knowing eyes.

“If it makes you feel any better, it's only because they did too.” Johnny laughed awkwardly.

It didn't make her feel better, in fact she could now spot the different eyes on her. Some laughed at their knowledge, some gave her a sympathetic glance and some stared her down with judgement. The consequences of actions had never weighed her down as much, it was completely outlandish as she stood there, quietly being assessed based on whose clothes she was in.

She left her class, wondering why Jaehyun hadn't made his way to it, debating whether it was place to wonder nonetheless ask. Her question was answered rather harshly as she entered the somewhat crowded café on campus, her eyes finding Jaehyun in a booth with a girl she recognised as a junior. He had his arm around her neck so effortlessly that no one would even consider it out of place. The passing guilt in his eyes when they met hers was momentary and mostly overwhelmed by his confusion, still the guilt was admission enough, suddenly they were both blatantly aware of where they stood. She averted her eyes and stood in the line to order.

“Hi.” A voice so close to the shell of her ear made her gasp, taking a step forward and turning around with accusation. Jaehyun grinned at her expression widely, patting her head twice.

“What are you getting?” He asked as he stood beside her.

“A coffee, I have another class in half an hour.” She kept her words curt. Not because she wanted him to know she was irritated, that would require too much explanation. But she couldn't control that small part of her that wanted him to suffer a little from her change in demeanor.

“You should eat something (Y/N), you just had juice for breakfast.” He chided. She couldn't help it, the way her chest fluttered almost effervescently. His concern touched her in a way his hands or tongue couldn't yet and it seemed to suffocate her.

She didn't say much else to him till it was her turn to order. Sticking to her single order, she heard Jaehyun sigh loudly as she walked away and waited for her coffee, not acknowledging Jaehyun's lingering form anymore as she picked up her coffee.

“By the way, I'm keeping this t-shirt.” She informed him, turning away and sitting down on the opposite side of the café. (Y/N) was carefully assessing the reading material for her next class when a server came to a stop at her table, placing a plate on her table.

“The guy you were standing with at the counter left this for you.” The guy pointed at Jaehyun's retreating form from the glass windows. She stared down at the humble croissant, allowing herself to smile at the gesture, thanking the waiter.

“That’s literally what my life is like now, don't giggle.” She warned Yuta as she hung up the phone. Her old RA was not giving her a letter of leave she needed from her dorm and she was absolutely exhausted from trying. She sat back with a scowl, picking up her beer from the table. When Yuta and Doyoung both laughed she looked up with question.

“What's up?” She heard Jaehyun's voice and groaned. Taeyong who was sitting beside her got up, letting Jaehyun shift in beside her.

“Why do you look so-” Jaehyun began, stealing her beer which made her scowl more. When she lifted her hand to demand it back he shrugged away, ignoring the subtle way Yuta, Doyoung and Taeyong tried to warn him.

“So irritated?” She questioned with a sweet smile and Yuta winced. Jaehyun was still oblivious, only nodding cluelessly.

“My old roommate refuses to give me back any of my essential utilities. My RA won't write me a letter to stop my dorm fees, just ten minutes ago the girl from psychology who works at the bar ignored my requests for a beer so I had to send Taeyong. Do you know what they all have in common?” Her voice was still calm, almost jesting and she brushed her words off with laughs and light gestures.

“I slept with them?” Jaehyun spoke, slowly sliding her beer back to her. She looked down at the almost finished beer and smiled wider.

“You slept with them.” She said with affirmation, “And now you sleep with me, so they won't let me live.” She patted his thigh before turning away, leaning her chin on her palm and sipping the last of her beer. Everyone stayed silent, till she looked around.

“Why is everyone quiet? No no, don't feel bad for me. I'm sure all the girls he sleeps with goes through the same. It's okay we chose our faith.” Something she said made Jaehyun turn to her, a frown slowly adorning his own lips. There was yet another silence, everyone around the booth confused by the same thing.

“So did you know that Doyoung is hooking up with our Economics teacher?” Yuta broke the ice, looking up with panic when Jaehyun stood up abruptly.

“Gross! Is that how your grades are so high?” She asked unfazed, Doyoung looked up at her with wide eyes.

“I'm very offended that you think so little of me.” He pouted.

“She's 34!” She grimaced.

“Karen is a very charming women.” Doyoung defended. Jaehyun came back with two beers, one for himself and another that he placed in front of her which she sipped without acknowledgment.

“Don't call her by her first name.” Jaehyun said simply, sitting back down.

As they walked out of the bar Jaehyun grabbed her arm once, making her turn back with questioning eyes.

“I'm not,” He stopped, staring deep into her eyes in a way that made her cower. “I wouldn't sleep with other people. I know we haven't said anything but I'm very keen on monogamy.” Jaehyun's eyebrows were furrowed gravely. Both of them simultaneously not drunk enough and too drunk for such an important conversation. She was so taken aback that her ‘okay’ was unconvincing and she turned away before she caught his face fall.

As they walked, Jaehyun stopped suddenly making everyone do the same to face the pleasant smile on his face.

“Haejunie!” Jaehyun called out.

“Haejun?” Yuta said with suspicion.

“-ie?” Doyoung said with furrowed brows.*

“My RA.” She joined their mumbling from the back, shocking the two boys. Taeyong watched slowly as she tried to remain nonchalant, laughing with Doyoung about something, but he noticed her glance towards Jaehyun a few times. Taeyong decided to go stand with her, giving her a smile that she returned.

“She'll give you the letter tomorrow. I'll meet her at the office. She also said she'll get your things from your roommate, I'll get them to your dorm.” Jaehyun patted her head affectionately but Taeyong was more intrigued by her forced smile and nod.

“Are you coming to the house? Taeyong made some meat pie that smelled heavenly.” Jaehyun tried to sound casual, but his eyebrows lifted up and he chewed on the inside of his cheek.

“Call my doctor if I ever refuse to eat Taeyong's food.” She grinned at him and a slow exhale left Jaehyun, his lips lifting up.

As they walked towards the house, her steps lingered at the back. Taeyong decided to join her when he noticed Jaehyun give her glances. There was a silence throughout between the two of them as they watched the others be loud and active.

“He's so good at getting things.” She thought out loud and Taeyong nodded in response.

“People want to give in to him. Maybe that's why he likes you.” Taeyong turned to her but she gave him a half hearted smile.

“Yeah, so maybe now that I have I'll become another means to get things.” She all but mumbled. Taeyong looked up to ask about her words but she already struck a conversation with Doyoung about why the Leaning Tower of Pisa is a architectural marvel.

The bright and appreciated hopeful everyone on campus knew and the girl who people now wondered was his girlfriend or not; It was dreadful. Still she made herself one promise, it was fun till she willed herself to not get too comfortable. She promised herself that she would leave before she fell for him to cut both their losses.

It was an early Sunday morning but she stood at the door of her new house with eyes swollen from sleep. Jaehyun carried a second heavy box into the house and up the stairs to her room.“What kind of charitable person were you in your past life to deserve that? My boyfriend won't even carry my bag.” One of her senior housemates walked out of the kitchen.

“I don't want him to do this. And he's not my boyfriend.” She spoke solemnly.

“Exactly. He's not even your boyfriend. You must have saved a country or something.” She assessed, sipping on her mug.

“What?” She turned to her making her laugh.

“In your past life. I don't know my juniors outside this house. But him I'd bag him if I were you.” She scoffed but (Y/N) smiled ironically.

“You know what they say, curiosity killed the cat.” She sighed, a sense of defeat in her bones.

“Someone once also said that curiosity is the lust of the mind.” She winked at (Y/N) before walking away.

* I know using korean like that can be a bit embarrassing. But I really didn't see a way I could articulate the same expression in English, with the same comedic and dramatic effect.

I keep starting and abandoning posts that go into my drafts, as I try to stay tasteful about how fucking revolted this part makes me. Like, I'm legitimately unsure if the very relevant trauma I have is making me see things that aren't here

But first we see that Star Flower is trying to ingratiate herself to the group, just after she reappears from chapter 5. Chapter 5 is about how Clear Sky is still abusive towards his son, and she comes in after stroking his ego, stressing how alone she is, and appealing to how she'll be loyal unlike his child. (She glances over at Thunder, directly implying this.)

Now in Chapter 9, she's babysitting and trying to care for Milkweed's kits (in spite of discomfort from Milkweed), taking a wet sleeping space away from the others, and pulling more than her own weight "without complaint." Putting herself through harsh sitations to prove her worth.

All while trying to appear extra attractive to Thunder, and later Clear Sky. Basically every man in power who can "protect her"

Like, am I going fucking crazy? With how we later find out that Star Flower was "promised as a mate" to One Eye's subordinate Slash, is... is that hypersexualization? One of the extremely stigmatized symptoms of sexual abuse?

She goes to find Clear Sky alone to throw herself at his paws, and he's very quickly attracted to how she promises to perfectly obey him, have no needs of her own, and finally be the perfect servant that he desires

"I don't deserve your trust because I am dirt. I understand you because I also regret something. I'd die for you. I'll never betray you unlike those who have."

This isn't manipulation. She means this. The story is playing their romance sincerely. She's comparing "betraying" Thunder by telling her own father about an assassination ambush to Clear Sky's history of child abuse, physical assault, and murder

She believes she's on the same level as this; a monster who murdered a childhood friend in a fit of entitled rage. She was a victim of One Eye who really believes that the way her father used her means she "understands" this monster, deserves this treatment.

And Clear Sky LIKES that.

He likes that she will have COMPLETE FAITH in him. That she will follow him WITHOUT QUESTION. That she will OBEY his orders. That's fucking verbatim, that's THE TEXT!!!

WHILE HE'S STILL CRYING ABOUT "ive tried to atone every day" FOLLOWING THE LAST TWO BOOKS WHERE THE ONLY SHITTY THING HE DOESN'T DO IS MURDER INNOCENT WOMEN

Milkweed is a loner who lives around the territory, and has lived here since before the pioneers came down from the mountain. Since they came, she's apparently been harassed by the new group. We know for a fact that Clear Sky was mauling intruders.

I feel like I'm watching her get sucked in, like a wasp with a single foot in a glue trap

Milkweed: "Ever since you came, there's less food and land because your MONSTER of a brother invented borders. You only ever show kindness so that you can have reasons to start fights and I have the scars to prove it"

I wish he died in the first book so fucking bad. Doesn't even hesitate. "YOU SHOULD JOIN MY BROTHER, THE GUY WHO CAUSED ALL OF YOUR PROBLEMS! THEN YOU WON'T BE LOCKED OUT OF TERRITORY YOU USED TO BE ABLE TO WALK IN FREELY :D

Milkweed: "He murdered my friend and stole her fucking children"

Gray Wing: "psssh. He only suggested slaughtering those babies until his friend offered to mother them. Plus he's tooootally different now"

(Meanwhile, in the distance, Clear Sky is standing in front of his famous Orphan Grinder, shoveling orphans into it, but he nailed a wooden sign to the end of the title that makes it read "BUT REDEEMED NOW")

Slash's Famous Scene

Here we are, lads. Everyone's favorite scene in the totally best arc of WC. The one where Slash pins a pregnant woman to the ground and licks her face, while threatening her fetuses and cutting her cheek open so Clear Sky can have more man pain.

So far I've been using "fridging" as synonymous with the brutal killing of a female character to advance a male character's arc; but I do want to remind everyone that the term "fridging" describes disproportionate violence done to women in the service of their husband/brother/father/son's arcs. It doesn't HAVE to be death; it can also be battery, maiming, depowering, or sexual assault.

So far, 8 women have died to serve male arcs, most of them for Clear Sky specifically. Fluttering Bird, Bright Stream, Storm, Misty, Bumble, Turtle Tail, Rainswept Flower, and Petal. Now Star Flower gets sexually harassed and kidnapped, bringing the arc's fridge total to 9.

Anyway content warning, obviously. It's still Warrior Cats and doesn't get too graphic, but this bag contains a dead dove.

First, Clear Sky gets another toesucking from the ghost of his wife who died after leaving his controlling ass. Specifically, after he threw his disabled brother out of his Clan, and after his lust for seeing random people (including his brother) get mauled at the border resulted in the death of Fox.

She tells him that his behavior never drove anyone away, it was all totally not his fault. I'm waiting for a laugh track and it never comes. The apologetics in this arc are unrivaled.

Then, Clear Sky wakes up and his pregnant wife is not next to him. So he goes looking for her and sees her being flanked by Slash and his memorable minions, Grunt 1 and Grunt 2. Star Flower is so possessed by fear that she doesn't move.

They REALLY need to sell that Slash is TRUE evil, PURE evil, because of the wet fart that is Clear Sky's redemption arc. They're saying that Clear Sky ISN'T bad, because he is not this. A dirty, sadistic monster who coos evilly about how he's going to hurt the kittens in his wife's belly and cruelly twitches his whiskers.

(as a petty side detail, please also note that this passage cannot even keep Slash's fur color straight. Behold, a cat so evil that he cannot even remain a brown tabby! He turns gray when he commits nefarious deeds! Ashfurification included!)

Star Flower is the one being pinned to the ground and having her face cut open as Slash screams about how she promised her father she'd be his mate, but this scene is about Clear Sky's distress. Star Flower is an object to this narrative, which these two men are in conflict over.

The pinning, the violence, the sexual implications, are being done to make Slash as monstrous as possible to contrast to Clear Sky. Slash doesn't kill anyone, so the narrative needs to make you SO UPSET your emotions are thrown into overdrive, so you'll accept how truly terrible he is.

The simple truth that this rancid book is trying to make you ignore, is that Clear Sky is exponentially more deadly. He has caused harm so unspeakable that they have to describe his bloody murders in passive voice. They "died" now, instead of "were killed," and the violent system he created is presented as "making up" for the trauma he's caused to the survivors.

"Pushing his muzzle close to her injured cheek, he licked the blood from her fur with a long, lingering lap."

Think critically about the characters they are presenting and the actions they make them do. None of these are real people. They are writing choices. They have portrayed Slash as a perverted, domineering, child-abusing savage, so Clear Sky the Settler can look good in comparison.

then Star Flower gets dragged off, kicking and struggling, feeble and completely unable to defend herself as clear sky thinks about how she might die along with his fetuses.

Obviously Clear Sky is so very stressed out by all this and needs to blow off some steam, so he smacks the nearest woman and starts screeching about how Star Flower is more loyal than the son he abuses

The first thing he does after the Slash event was physically assault the nearest woman. I can't... I don't have the words. Are you seeing this. Do you see what I am fucking dealing with. literally the first woman he sees.

"DOES THAT FEEL LIKE AN ACT??" He bellowed like a fucking wifebeater at the girl whose face is bleeding because he cut her in a fit of rage. That's fine as long as you don't lustfully lick it afterwards I guess!!!
