Now that I’ve actually got my music streaming correct (been off the scene for about a decade..((tragic, i know)) too much dancing and not enough singing), I’m happy to celebrate my ever-lasting love for music 🎧
So here we go, I’m sharing 4 songs every weekend to bring the people happiness and inner warmth for the soul, starting with songs I would say I have the deepest connection with; this week it’s all about the rock and roll just to show you guys what I’m about.
Firstly I want to show you Iggy, the man famous for being a sex-crazed, drug-maniac who was always writhing around on stage, cutting himself with glass and who was in and out of rehabs* for his hardcore lifestyle.
*David Bowie famously used to bring him his heroin whilst he was meant to be getting clean.
Tumblr media
IGGY POP-LUST FOR LIFE
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Secondly I am proud to show you the only artist of this week’s list that I have actually seen live (he still checks in on my mum on socials to see how she is ^^’). Also a heroin addict for many years but from what I know I would class him as a reasonably responsible drug user “I’d always try to be as clean as possible when I was playing music”. Another reason why I am proud to show you this song is that it features in ‘Paul’ (starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Seth Rogan*). What I’m trying to say is I heard the song before the movie and regardless here it is. I give you…Peter Perret and The Only Ones
*Sigourney Weaver also stars. (sci-fi royalty..Alien <3)
Tumblr media
(search: The Only Ones -Another Girl Another Planet)
THE ONLY ONES -ANOTHER GIRL ANOTHER PLANET
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Nearly at the final track but before that we have the Hanoi Rocks, headed by frontman Michael Monroe(pictured. blonde). A Finnish glam-rock group who basically crafted the genre and went on to inspire ‘pioneering’ groups like Mötley Crüe and Guns ‘n’ Roses. Well, fuck them! The Hanoi Rocks were the REAL DEAL! THE REAL PIONEERING MUTHAS IN 80’S ROCK! Other members of the band included Andy McCoy and Razzle* (R.I.P)
*portrayed in (2019) The Dirt, movie focusing on the Crüe’s rise to fame through drugs, women and booze
Tumblr media
HANOI ROCKS-DON’T YOU EVER LEAVE ME
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Finally, I believe this can change and grow the feelings you might have of an old flame (sorry! 🙈🙉🙊), it ignites so much passion in myself and really puts you in a mood that makes you want to pack your things and find the one. If you haven’t heard her yet; you’re welcome.
Tumblr media
PATTI SMITH -BECAUSE THE NIGHT
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Tune in next week, for more.

Ok, Slash has already said in interviews that his blues album is going to feature guest singers, like his 2010 solo album did. So before we hear anything about the official lineup, let me get my predictions out for the guest artists:
Demi Lovato was confirmed a guest singer after Slash appeared on a single they released last year.
Duff McKagan and Slash have been appearing on each other's solo projects for years, including Duff's 2023 album Lighthouse, so I'd say he's a top contender — though not as a singer of course.
My personal long-shot dream pick is Marc LaBelle of Dirty Honey. Slash called on Marc to sing on a cover of Mississippi Queen he did for a tribute album in 2022, and I think he'd be perfectly suited to a blues track. Slash had some lesser-known guests on his 2010 album, so I think there's definitely a chance.
Guest appearances tend to be a scratch-my-back-I'll-scratch-yours situation, so anyone Slash has worked with in the past few years is fair game:
Tom Morello (2020) — though known for his RATM sound, I wouldn't put it past him to branch into other genres
Black Pumas (2021) — honestly I know nothing about them
Michael Monroe (2022) — Hanoi Rocks frontman whom Slash has collaborated with before
Ian Hunter (2023) — former Mott The Hoople singer
Chris Jansen (2023) — country artist, maybe a likely guest?
The Dandy Warhols (2024) — reportedly they reached out to Slash, so not likely guests imo, especially given the late timing
Though this isn't an SMKC album, it's entirely possible that Slash's current bandmates could be involved in some capacity. Singer Myles Kennedy has dabbled in blues rock before, and Slash clearly works well with the Conspirators — though I also wouldn't be surprised if he put together an entirely new studio band with a blues sound in mind, the way he assembled SMKC to be a hard rock band.
And of course, there's a chance that any of his Guns N Roses bandmates could be involved...

In depth question time,
Which Genre of music do you associate with each train in Starlight Express? Do like, five of em :D
Ok you've not specified anyone so I'm picking <33
Greaseball - Very much rock and roll, but also earlier rock (e.g. The Beatles, The Byrds) and even a bit of jazz. Anything with a good rhythm to it and a bit of sax maybe.
Electra - Mostly synth-pop, maybe some trance EDM. Gotta be heavy on the electronic sound and ideally very otherworldly-sounding
Pearl - Pop rock (with the emphasis more on the pop). Gotta be bouncy and fun, but if some electric guitar can be snuck in that's ideal.
Flat-Top - Punk, but like the good kind. Think X-Ray Spex. A bit of standard rock too, I can see Hanoi Rocks fitting his vibe.
Rusty - Soft rock/acoustic pop. The kind of sound artists like Jack Johnson or Newton Faulkner have. Something overall pretty chill but still with a good rhythm or beat to it.

song #46
Boulevard Of Broken Dreams by Hanoi Rocks
It was released in 1984 in their album Two Steps From The Move
youtube
Fun fact: "The song is about junk (drugs). Used to take 'em back in the day. It's about the illusions, with which it all starts, but eventually it leads to broken dreams, when you notice where using them has taken you." Reveals Andy McCoy (the lead guitarist) in a 1984 issue of Suosikki

9, 13, 20 for the music asks! 😃
wheee, thank you!
9. which artist has been the most life changing for you? Definitely Michael Monroe and Hanoi Rocks. They, and he in particular, have taught me to keep going, be true to myself and not give a flying fig what anyone else thinks of me. Absolute heroes for 30 years now.
13. do you have a favorite genre or dabble in it all? I like to think I dabble in a lot of stuff, but then I come on Tumblr and realise that what I like is pretty closely related - rock, metal, punk, goth, 50s-80s pop, synthpop. :D
20. which album deserved that damn grammy? I have no idea what's had grammys and what hasn't, but given that most of what I like never gets them, there are many. But let's go for Sensory Overdrive by Michael Monroe, which was an absolutely stunning comeback and has led to a continued resurgence in his career and (at least some of) the recognition he's always deserved.
Thank you for asking! <333333 Anyone else want to make me ramble about music? (fair warning, I'm going to bed in a mo but I'll answer in the morning!)

What music do you listen to (besides Elvis of course!)💗
Yes definitely Elvis, but I absolutely adore Bruce Springsteen. I feel a deep connection to his music and admire him as a person (he’s also mentioned Elvis as one of his big inspirations as an artist which I can definitely see). I think he’s one of the greatest musicians/songwriters who ever lived.
I could go on forever about The Clash, too. Their music is still so relevant, and there’s a reason when the rest of the first wave punk groups were dying out, they were going on stadium tours. They weren’t just shouting "fuck the establishment" with no substance, they actually had something to say about global issues and injustice.
I also love Kacey Musgraves, Joan Jett, Shannon and the Clams, Jessie Ware, Bikini Kill, Bat Fangs, Blondie, David Bowie, Guns n’ Roses, Hanoi Rocks, and Girlschool.

Diamond Dogs celebran 30 años de rock n'roll en 12 conciertos de aniversario
Tumblr media
22 DE MAYO. WOLF, BARCELONA 23 DE MAYO. CLAMORES, MADRID 24 DE MAYO. ROCK & BLUES, ZARAGOZA 25 DE MAYO. LOCO CLUB, VALENCIA 26 DE MAYO. LEMON ROCK, GRANADA (SON EG) 27 DE MAYO. LA GUARIDA DEL ÁNGEL, JEREZ 28 DE MAYO. BABYLON, LEÓN 29 DE MAYO. GARUFA CLUB, A CORUÑA 30 DE MAYO. FACTORÍA, AVILÉS 31 DE MAYO. ALDEAROCK, ALDEA DE SAN MIGUEL (VALLADOLID) 1 DE JUNIO. AREATZA MUSIK & BEER, AREATZA 2 DE JUNIO. OCTAVO ARTE, SEGOVIA (WIC)
Too Much Is Always Better… Than Not Enough’ (2022), además de muchos otros clásicos y sorpresas de su repertorio.
El rock ha muerto, ¡larga vida al rock!
