How big are the seconds in Ur head
What scale do they operate on (and do you have any Particular thoughts on other robot master sizes 👀👀👀)
HIII HAII HAII HELLO HAIIIII HIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!! HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY so do you come around here often.anyway
from shortest to tallest in the second line:
heat - 3'5
bubble - somewhere between 4'5 and 5'
quick - 5'4
metal - ?????????somewhere in between
flash - 6'
crash - 7'3. big boy. of course. who do you think i am
wood AND air - probably like . 8 ft somewhat
as for other robot masters there's drillman and sparkman who are, respectively, 5'5(not counting the drill on his head) and 5'10 , and then there's blastman who i still have to decide on for the sake of him being annoying and getting punted by crashman but i think he's overall somewhere around 5 ft because its funny. chaotic loud little twink with explosives
i think i also made bombman 5' and gutsman 10'5+ , mostly based off what i can see from the megamix comics
and now for some mildly comical size comparisons. the second one is far more halfassed than the others but just bear with me i didnt feel like figuring out ariga gutsman at that time . also i keep using crashman as comparison for when i have to size other characters? it's really funny to me
(tempo is there too)

There is no Official Capcom Game Canon™ hair for Bass. No unused design sketches or character art that has been released. Nothing even from canon-adjacent licensed games.
But I wonder if it might exist? Because we’ve seen his hair across various comics, and while ‘Manga / Comic & Cartoons Canon’ is not ‘Official Game Canon™’ ...weirdly enough it’s been consistent, especially compared to, y’know, Blues. (Blues, who 100% had a game canon hairstyle from his debut in MM3.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Classic Rock’s hairstyle is drawn really uniformly. Sometimes it’s black, sometimes it’s brown, sometimes it’s desaturated navy blue, but it’s always a dark color and even with radically different art styles his hair still has the same basic, well, shape.
Tumblr media
The same goes for Bass! Ariga’s sketch isn’t even canon for Gigamix, and we only see some hair poking out of his broken helmet in Archie comics. But like Rock, the style is consistent, and both times it’s colored in, his hair is dark. (The sketch is just not colored in. It could be light, it could be dark. There’s also a sketch of Blues on the same page... his hair isn’t colored in either.)
The Rockman & Forte manga ran from April 1998 to January 1999. From what I can gather, the “Burning Shot” short is from 1998.
Rockman Gigamix was published in 2009. The sketch Hitoshi Ariga drew of helmetless Forte was at FanExpo Canada, August 2010.
Archie's Worlds Collide crossover ran from April to August 2013.
It’s entirely possible that Kouji Izuki came up with something for the game’s manga adaption, and when asked about it on the spot Ariga drew from that, and then Archie comics kept what was previously done by the manga artists. Especially given how Archie loved to pack in references to other Mega Man ‘verses.
Conversely, any one of them could’ve gone with whatever unique design they wanted, and they didn’t. I think it’s possible that the artists and writers producing licensed franchise spin-offs might have had access to unreleased “series bible” material that we the public will never get to see because Capcom has totally forgotten this character exists in the first place. So the real question is: after Novas Aventuras, did Capcom have the wherewithal to go “hey maybe we should lay down some guidelines on how these characters are depicted”?
Tumblr media
(Quick comparison of how helmet failure is shown for both characters in Archie comics. Rock’s hair is disheveled from the fight, yet still the right style and color.)

laptop threw a fit so im on mobile and my rp acct hi confession time for a third time. recently ive been super stressed abt writing Quick bc i feel i can never quite achieve that ideal version of my interpretation of him? i have to like literally confine myself to write him bc im super talkative and emotional and its just so hard in practice augh o|< fr i played myself when i decided to pick up Ariga Quick as a muse
Tumblr media
i feel i can never quite achieve that ideal version of my interpretation of him?
I know confession time isn't exactly for advice but at least hear me out: You might be putting too much pressure on yourself to be perfect. From one creative to another I know what that feels like- it's a sisyphusian problem of working up, up, up towards that ideal version of our vision only to look back and see we never left the starting line.
The thing is, that trying to create that ideal version of our creative idea just... It's not going to happen. It was like that with Heat's headcanon piece, sure it was perfect when I decided to publish it but you end up looking back with new experience and new knowledge that changes your creative thinking and suddenly it's not so perfect anymore. The thing about your Quick (and I don't want to try and exactly characterize him here, you know him better than I do) is that, to me hes an enigma, hes something completely disconnected from you or I and I think that's where the issues start to arise.
i have to like literally confine myself to write him bc im super talkative and emotional and its just so hard in practice
You said it here, that your portrayal is completely different from you making it so hard in practice to get that accurate interpretation. I think you should really reassess what you want out of having Quick as a muse- Do you want to have fun? Do you want to be strong? Why are you writing him in the first place?
The thing I've learned recently, with my more recent writing is that I'm not writing to be accurate to anything (you really can't, not with mega man oh NO) and as much as I try to educate myself on current and known science regarding the robotics field (I still need to finish that article)-
Sometimes something is just. Cool. It's badass, it hits that certain spot that makes you sit up in your chair or shift because the energy you just got thinking about that idea was too much to handle.
You were the one who told me that rp is all about fun, it's a game! It's art. I wanna return the favor and say maybe what you're trying to do is not make Quick accurate, but fun. Maybe then you'll find your ideal portrayal.

Staaaar man perhaps for RM thoughts?
Tumblr media
we're ignoring the fact that these asks are 4 months old because i wanna talk about them on main. this is gonna be an edited repost of a thing i wrote on my rp blog so yah. Once again I operate on the Arigaverse -w-b
Star is overlooked. That's not to say that he's forgotten, or left behind, or excluded from things. It's impossible to do that when his personality, voice, and colors are as loud as they are. No, he's overlooked because he is loud. Because to most, even his own comrades, loud is all he is.
This doesn't bother Star, though. He knows who he is; if the others don't see how perfect he is, they will in time. He is Wily's shining star, after all, his Splendid Noble Youth; a beacon to look to, a beacon to cast light on those lost, to take them under his wing and protect them.
A protector.
Sometimes he wonders why he's the only one with a proper shield; Wood Man's a darling, of course, but his "shield" is more offensive than defensive. His own is far more suited to being an indestructible bubble, so to speak.
These thoughts go as quickly as they come. He has more important things to do, after all; keep watch over the beautiful planet that is his charge, Earth, from his station up in orbit, and serve as the shining pinnacle of the Fifths. His linemates love him dearly, and he loves them too, of course. Why would he not? He has endless love to give, and endless love to bless everyone in the world with, even those of his dear comrades who are less inclined to be cordial towards him. That's okay. They're so very lucky to have him, even if they don't know it yet.
He doesn't hear the ridicule he and his line get from the other Wilybots or even their master himself for being soft, silly, and more than a little absentminded. Or he does, but he pays it absolutely no mind. Their words run off his armor like water off a swan's back.
It's okay; a star burns brightly no matter if anyone's watching or not. When the sky grows dark, though, he knows they'll look to him and take comfort in just how brilliantly he shines.
Star is a LOT to unpack in the Arigaverse, if I'm going to be entirely honest, in a way that I find incredibly fun. He's so fun! He's such a fun character. But a lot of what he's capable of is... It's hidden. Ariga hides a lot of Star's potential under his... well. everything.
To get the most obvious (external) points out of the way, Star's a narcissist with his head in the clouds. Where as Gemini's a narcissist in a more, like, casual sense I guess would be the best way to put it, Star is very much
✨✨ Look At Me! I'm Beautiful!! ✨✨
And this is, like, an overwhelming aspect of his personality. He's always like this, even when he's alone. He's someone who not only believes everyone should love him because he's beautiful, but he loves everyone because he's so beautiful. Isn't that wonderful? You're being graced with the attention and adoration of the most gorgeous Robot Master in existence, ahuhuhu~
He flirts, he flounces, he flusters. He is a walking canister of glitter and he will shower that shit on everyone.
But.
Beyond that, and even beyond his ditziness and cluelessness on the rare moment where he's not being flamboyant, is an aspect that I think is very overlooked by just. Fans in general, I guess.
The Star Crash is indestructible.
Like. I don't know how I can emphasize this enough.
The Star Crash is indestructible.
It only breaks if Star himself falters or loses concentration. It shielded not one, not two, but four robots from burning to an absolute crisp in the atmosphere. COMPLETELY.
That is fffffffffffffffffffffffucking insane.
And this is another point that I'd like to talk about, actually, because?? To point to the X era real quick: there are no Reploids built for space. None. Whatsoever. No, I don't count Lumine and the Jacob Elevator, Lumine was not built for space. There is not a SINGLE Reploid built with the intention of not just surviving, but functioning and thriving in space. Somehow, all of that was?? lost in the time period between the Classic and X eras. There are just three canon space-ready Robot Masters as well, those being Star Man, Astro Man, and Galaxy Man. I don't remember enough about Galaxy Man's stage to really say, but I know Astro isn't in space. He's in a planetarium. Star Man is the only one stated to actually fully be in space. The first AND most famous of the space Masters is Star Man, and I think that is for very, very good reason. That shit is SO hard to do. Dr. Light himself didn't make a Robot Master designed for space until four generations later, with Galaxy.
Do you know how much can go WRONG when making a craft intended for space? How much everything has to go EXACTLY RIGHT at the SAME TIME? HOW SMALL the probability of a purely perfect operation is? For a robot that can think and move independently on its own, that becomes ten times smaller, and ten times more important.
With that in mind, I don't blame Wily for being so exasperated with Star all the time ajfjskgkskfk. Star's one of his greatest creations, in my honest opinion. And he's just so -clenches fist- ditzy..!
But to me, Star Man reads as a well of untapped potential. But it's the kind of potential that, much like Star himself, needs witnesses to truly flourish and shine. He performs best in a group, where the Star Crash can maximize its use and he has others to focus on, like his brothers. His potential is so great and so overshadowed by his personality that even Wily forgot about it.
Star is someone who isn't really actively seeking appreciation, but who other people find a new respect for when they realize he is genuinely capable and powerful. Maybe not so much in terms of raw strength, but the ability to protect? That is something that a lot of the Wilybots are severely lacking, and it makes Star all the more invaluable to them.

Been thinking about the extension of Mercury’s death since I got the reprint
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the original, Quick slices him in half faster than he can regenerate and Shadow just sort of stares in awe
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the extension, Quick actually slices Mercury into pieces that are too small to regenerate, but it also includes Shadow’s actual thoughts as he watches this
Now I am armed with Google Translate and nothing more, but from what I can gather
After trying to warn Quick that cutting at him is pointless, Shadow questions if Mercury may have been weakened by their entry into Earth’s atmosphere. He realizes no, Quick just has such a strong will that he was able to overpower a stardroid on his own, beating the crystals at their own game (which is likely also why he was the only Wilybot to land a serious blow on the White Giant). Shadow then thinks back to Shade asking him if he ever wondered why they were given “souls” in the first place.
Google Translate is not doing me any favors (especially with the furigana), but I believe the text around Quick in the final page says something alone the lines of “I know in my heart that I will kill him”
The only other character to overpower a stardroid on their own merit was Bass, and even he needed the White Giant to egg him on first
Quick finessed the functionally immortal stardroid (Ariga’s words in Mercury’s description) through sheer confidence
What a badass

I don't get Crystal is female, the entire bottom part except for MM's perspective and are you referring to Cossack or Space Marshals with who created Duo?
Crystal was female
In the VERY early plans for MM5, Crystal Man was originally called Crystal Lady and was supposed to be the first female boss. Before Honey Woman, before Splash Woman, even.
Ice Man's appearance being due to shipping shenanigans
If you read Ariga, you'd realize that his Ice Man does not resemble the in-game character as his face is widely different/"cuter". This can be read either as a reference to the Battle and Chase Manhua (which drew him similarly but the excuse there was simply "lack of time for research") or that it's much easier to push for Ice/Roll or Ice/Freeze when one of the characters doesn't look vagueaged as fuck. This ended up even affecting the archie comics which is why you got the abomination known as Jon Arbuckle Ice Man. Being that giving him these faces is often connected with trying to push for the ship, it's quite the thought.
Quick Man/Iris
One of the images (I think it was fanart sent to capcom) dug out from somewhere shows Iris being aside Quick Man in a shippy manner. It is a very old image, possibly dating to the 90s.
King is still alive
Referencing the fact that Bass's route doesn't seem to be canonized - MM9 makes the MM route canon and in the recent Robot Master Field Guide (though its canonicity is debatable), it implies that King is around, somewhere.
Expiration date isn't real
The plot point is never really touched, nor referred to outside of MM9. Add this to being mostly told by Wily and that this is Doctor Wily we're talking about, who is known for lying and stretching the truth, it's not hard to think it may not be actually nearly as much of a thing.

The game Stardroids look less threatening compared to the Ariga Stardroids, I just want the Ariga versions to have some of the personality traits of the game versions like yeah they’re gonna kill you but when one of them gets used to earth they take on some of the silly traits 💀
Wouldn't make sense for them to maintain such traits since building planet-destroying (Not to mention, negativity absorbing.) robots typically and logically should render them susceptible against interrelations. The Destroyers are specifically created to kill civilizations, genocide entire races and annihilate solar systems. Alongside collecting and storing negativity for Dark Moon, they mercilessly murder any opposers.
Retaliating understanding and tenderness are imbedded in their systems. Destroyers destroy, they need not care for or even spare a single selfless thought to any lifeforms surrounding themselves. Selfish, immovably stubborn in carrying out their goals; no matter what needs sacrifice, the Stardroids will carry out the destruction of the universe, their purpose must be furfilled.
Genuine feelings: the main constructs of humanity, should be completely alien to the aliens. Forging connections, being able to relate and consider other creatures, it makes you vulnerable to guilt, to a change in nature. That wouldn't make you a very good Destroyer now, would it?
If you want them the most effective, truthfully, it's most sensical if the Stardroids don't have personalities at all.
But on the other hand, you wouldn't have very attractive characters either. And non-alluring characters isn't what an audience looks for in a story, that'll be a quick way to drive them out disinterested.

This blog is drama-free. I will not reblog or engage in callout posts of any kind. You can privately let me know if someone I'm interacting with is dangerous, but that's it. (Note: I DO NOT CONSIDER FICTIONAL CONTENT DANGEROUS. If someone is grooming kids or dropping slurs, let me know, but trying to drag me into proship/antiship discourse will result in an instant block)
I've softened on shipping, but I think I'm still gonna be pretty selective with which muses I ship, and how. Communication will be key!
Beyond the canon of the...canon, there is no real canon to this blog. Unless discussed prior with all involved parties, any threads are gonna be their own little things.
I may not be super active all the time. I often hit burnout, or fall into depressive slumps. I'm also rusty as all getout when it comes to RP. With that being said, if it's been, like, a week and I haven't responded to a thread, don't be afraid to let me know. I am a forgetful bastard.
I am crossover friendly, but unless it's something I'm already familiar with, I may need a quick primer on your world/characters. I'll try and let you know if I need it, but just as a baseline a few other things I'm into are Sonic the Hedgehog, Metroid, Metal Gear, and Final Fantasy 7.
This blog is based primarily on the games, Archie comics, and my own headcanons. That said, I'm familiar enough with Ariga's manga that we shouldn't have to AU too hard to mix in stuff from there, and otherwise I'm flexible in my "canon". Classic Mega Man's story is loose enough to fit in just about anything.
I'd really prefer to only RP with adults. Not that I think things will get particularly spicy, it's just that I'm 21+ and I don't feel particularly comfortable RPing with kids.
I'm not gonna RP with any .exe stuff. No disrespect, just super not my thing, I don't find it engaging at all.
My only other hard limits re fandoms I'll interact with are Harry Potter, Attack on Titan, South Park, Hazbin Hotel, and Helluva Boss. Varying reasons but suffice it to say I have no interest in any of them.

@megaman5674 said: Idk if you still do the maniax scans, but do you have any reliable scans of the second numbers? I've been trying to look for complete scans online but some of them are just impossible to find?
I’m always open to requests for scans, as long as it doesn’t include “Will you please scan this whole book for me!?” That will never happen.
This is probably the best I can do for the Second Numbers, without totally damaging the spine. Heat and Flash aren’t perfect, due to their placement, unfortunately, but you get most of their bodies in clear view.
Scanned from: Rockman Maniax First Edition, by Hitoshi Ariga, Circa July 2011
