Simblr New Years Resolution 2024~

@sparkiekong tagged me for a new years resolution tag, thank you!

What's your Resolution for your Simblr?

i want to do a better job interacting with other folks and their content, there's so much amazing stuff out there but im letting shyness get in the way. there's a lot of stuff on my blog i was to fix, too. finish my lore and character sheets, maybe better organize things. i want to post more, but i worry that i'm spamming folks.

What do you want from the Sims Franchise?

oh wow the list is very long. i would say faeries (again, my FAVORITE occult from 3) but at this point i'm pretty sure they'd fuck it up. i guess here's a short laundry list: ~ expanded plant sims and aliens. neither have skill trees or special skills. ~ expanded hair colors. we have many more now than when the game originally launched, yes. but i still find the unnatural colors limiting; neon pink, neon blue, neonish green, the weirdest shade of purple ever and neon yellow. CC fixes this too, sure, but it would be cool to have a standard of colors the CC creators can use so that you don't need additional CC (though hair overlays are neat). ~ fix the bugs. please, for the love of loki. i get that my game is broken from mods, but folks playing vanilla or lightly modded should have functional games. ~ BRING BACK THE KITSCH. i want nonsense, not realism ya'll. mods can give me realism, give me THE ABSURD. ~ maybe just burn everything down and start over? mash 2 and 3 together and give me that, but with certain updates from 4 (IE custom pronouns, body shaping in CAS, emotions).

Any other New Years Resolutions?

i need to be kinder to myself and not self-sabotage. (vulnerability time) i have very low self-esteem and a lot has hit me like a ton of bricks in 2023. i'm working through everything, but it's been very difficult. i started blogging to try and find other people and encourage myself to be less afraid and just let my brain go. my negative feedback loop sometimes goes haywire and tries to sabotage me (nobody likes you, you're boring, this didn't get any notes because it sucks, everyone is better than you), but overall it's been helping (thank you to everyone that encourages me, it means so so much).

sorry, i kinda went on a tangent there, i guess this hit me in the feels in just the right way.

Crying into my tea on a Sunday morning... god, I am so touched by this, I'm just falling apart...

Let me respond to this sequentially, so I don't just get flooded with emotion (and if you've been watching how I post, you already know this is going to be long as fuck... Sorry! 🥲)

1. I am absolutely okay with NSFW blogs interacting with me, and spam interactions don't bother me at all! The only interactions I don't want are from minors and dickheads, haha. No worries on this, peach.

2. Fewer people interact with my fic than with my art, but when I tell you I treasure every single thing people say about my fic... god, there's just nothing like it. My fic is so, so close to my heart. I've been a writer much longer than I've been an artist, so I feel like I can really express myself through writing in a way I can't with art... I'm trying, but I'm not quite there yet! God, thank you so much for your kind words... I am so grateful that the warmth and love I feel when I'm writing is felt by others, too. I really try to capture the very essence of how these characters and their emotions feel in my mind and heart.

And you like the lore, too? 🥺 My long-winded rambling? My wordy expositions? God, my heart! 😭💙

3. I am so happy to know you met your partner in this community, too! I am really wishing the best for you, and yes, it absolutely can work out! My spouse and I are very different from each other, but we are still best friends after six years, and I don't see that changing any time soon.

4. I feel like this community tends to be younger, especially here on Tumblr, so it's kind of refreshing to hear from someone in the same phase of life as me. If there's anything I didn't expect, it's that I would still be exploring my feelings about tickling (and, well, intimacy as a whole) well into adulthood. It's funny how things come back around, though... I was making tickling doodles in my diary when I was just a kid, but I stopped (and, stopped drawing altogether, really) after high school. Had to work through a ton of shame, religious trauma, and just a metric fuckton of other shit, all to come right back around to doing tickling doodles again, haha! I was delighted to find that, at 30 (and with a whole lot of new experiences and context), it still makes me just as giddy now as it did then.

All of this is to say... There may be common threads throughout one's life, but we aren't really set in stone the way people think. You can absolutely discover, and rediscover, yourself and what brings you joy over and over again as you grow and have new experiences. If I can give any advice on this, it's this: Don't close yourself off. You only have this one life, so use it to experience all you can. Even if you're shy, like me... do your best to lend a kind word, an ear, or a hand as often as possible. You never know who, or what, is gonna set your soul on fire.

i'm so so so happy that u responded to all my ramblings so earnestly. and in DEPTH. that last rant u had about the nature of vashwood and how they view each other and their insecurities and all that... it took me forever to read cuz i kept stopping to just Sit and Think About It

but u also asked about that spotlight metaphor i mentioned and. it's bad lmfao

i was actually thinking about in 98 trigun where wolfwood takes a very permanent vacation. i'd remembered a kind of spotlight effect on him during that scene, and looking it up just now i realize it was cuz one of the church windows cast this warm square of light over him

so my memory was slightly off- i'd thought it was more of an actual spotlight- but i lost my mind when i thought you might've been referencing it for some reason. i didn't wanna bring it up tho cuz i figured i was wrong, and evidently i was lol

here's just a bit of what i'm working on:

'I fiddled with a pen while my head rested in my right hand, waiting for a customer to come through the door. I had eventually zoned out because, I almost fell off the stool i was using, when the door bell went off. Trying to steady both my body and my mildly racing heart, I check to see who may may have startled me like that. I became more startled seeing who exactly came in causing this slight commotion on my end. It was blue eyes. He looked just as last as the last time, if not more. His hair was mostly slicked back but one tiny little piece fighting to fall forward. Same beige slacks but this time... My lord- this time, He had a black lace button up with most of them undone. It left his bare chest beneath the shirt in almost full view. "Nothing for the imaginatioin, eh" i almost muttered aloud while trying to steady my heaving breath. "why'd you scare me like that? i just 'bout fell off my chair, thanks to you." He leaned over the counter on forearms. "Nothing like hello huh" he cracked a smile. I paused trying not to stare at his bare torso staring me back dead in the face. His smile grew a bit wider as he leaned over a bit more, enough that our noses barely touched. I let out a soft 'yes' which may have come off as a moan. "uh..." fumbling over his words, "c-can we talk?" I nodded still trying to avoid his deliciously tempting form. I peered over his shoulder to see who was available to cover the front. Luckily both Meilin and Christina (one of the trainees from the Philipines) were heading towards the desk with trays in tow.'

I haven't quite came up with a name yet. If anyone has some critics/suggestions please i would greatly appreciate it. This my first time writing fictioin since highschool and that was almost ten years ago! So mind you I am super rusty but, it's like riding a bike, right? It's a skill you never really lose.

Anywho, i really want to do moodboards, playlists and such. Does anyone know any user friendly programs for that?

Anyhow, I almost have enough for a chapter. just a bit more and Voila! also, i haven't decided on chapters or parts... Right now i'm just trying to make myself coherent.

hello hello everyone! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far and to my American friends, "Happy turkey day". I might be going to Golden Corral on thursday with Mum. We're playing it by ear.

Universal has been a blast but, also highly overwhelming. My autistic ass hasn't stopped "processing" in three days and with my mum being disabled and using a scooter..... it's like tending to evil kinevil and a toddler all at the same time. I highly recommend having some good coping mechanisms when you want the best experience possible. Theme parks are fun but, triggering. wether we like it or not. There is so so so much to take in and the crowds. Like, I'm not overly great with crowds and when people touch me, i get the heeby geebies. Though it hasn't bothered me much because i'm distracted from the attractions.

Even so.....

I've enjoyed myself. I've gotten to fulfill some interests i've had for a while now. And One thing that has helped me alot; is to make lists. Wether it's mental or physical. It keeps me on track of what i do want and what i don't what out of this trip. Then, when my list is done... I've been considering what can be done each day. Also, my mum has been really quite accomadating with me. Even when she's sped up past me asking if she's going to fast. Meanwhile, i'm jogging beside like it's a marathon. I thought at point we were going to get kicked out the stores. She decided to zoom around the stores and took out a couple of displays. fun.

DON'T WHY I TOLD YOU ALL THIS BUT.....

I hoping to get some writing done. I can't focus with all the excitement. oh well... but..... It has given me some great ideas for scenarios with Austin. They're gonna be so cute! Can't wait to get home and jot them down!

Ahhh I’m like midway through the chapter and ahhh I don’t want to look away Bc it’s getting so good shit is Happening But AHHHH why does Jonathan not want to be with will!!! Karen and Joyce getting to talk!!! Also thank you for acknowledging the fact that Billy is fucking scary and A Racist and justifiably is Max’s antagonist. Like even changing the set up I love how well you capture his constant aggression and the sense that he’s one spark away from exploding. Also I love the car call back. Lastly thank you for letting me to know to be on the lookout for the accused Dustin fic Bc!!! Yes that sounds amazing.

Also I think it kinda picks up a lot of plot lines that as a reader had moved to the back burner and bring them up to the front!! Which I personally love Bc it’s such a fun feeling!! It’s like oh shit I saw your were making chocolate and was very impressed and then the chef reaches over the a pot sitting in the back and it’s like Oh Shit There’s Caramel Too!! That’s why you used so much butter and sugar!! This metaphor is getting away from me lol but thank you for writing as always!! Also I’m considering reading my heart is a chainsaw so your basically an influencer now

(Also, I got your followup message, and please don’t feel you have anything to apologise for! It can take me time to digest and respond to things - I think I’m still sitting on a meme I was tagged in a few weeks ago - but I’m always excited to see people’s reactions!)

Billy being “one spark away from exploding” is exactly what I was trying to capture, so I’m so glad to know that that came across! Also, that’s such a great way to phrase it. There’s always a sense in s2 that you don’t know what he’s going to do next, part of which is the way he’s introduced with that scene where he runs the Party off the road, and it really adds a sense of menace that I thought was a good choice.

The ‘Teenagers. Jesus.’ line is one I’m especially proud of! Hopper’s POV is just so much fun to write, he’s just so done with everything. And yeah, he’s more than just muscle! Honestly part of how he put everything together in s1 was probably paranoia, but that doesn’t discredit the fact that he was smart enough to think of it in the first place. And - I seem to recall it being mentioned somewhere in canon that he has history in intelligence/special ops, although I couldn’t say where, but. You don’t get to that level if you don’t have a couple brain cells to rub together.

I was one of those people who was disappointed by the ending of Matilda taking away her powers, so yeah, I definitely have a whole bunch of feelings about that whole trope of children and ‘innocence’ having special powers or abilities that are irretrievably lost in adulthood. No spoilers, but...that’s where I’m coming from.

I love your caramel metaphor, partly because I love cooking/baking shows and know exactly what you’re talking about, and partly because I’m very relieved to know that this chapter felt worthwhile even if it was shorter! I hope that what it’s setting up to will be satisfying! This fic does stick a little closer to, as somebody called them in a comment, the “Stations of Canon” than the first one did, but there are some pretty significant differences coming up, character-wise, that I’m really hype to share.

And, because you mention it, I am planning a ‘season’ three for this AU! I’m actually already a chapter and a half into writing it, and I’m really excited about it. It’s going to be the final installment in this AU, and it...diverges more from canon, plotwise, than either of the first two. I’m feeling somewhat more kindly disposed toward season 4 than I was when I decided I’d be wrapping this AU up after three fics, so Eddie might even be there. Briefly, but still, if that’s a selling point...

(Also yesssss, read My Heart Is A Chainsaw! I should probably mention that it deserves a content warning for CSA - nothing depicted, as it were, onscreen, but whether or not it happened is a pretty major plot point. Also a whoooole lot of slasher-typical violence, but...if you’ve watched the gorier episodes of Stranger Things, you’ll probably be fine on that front.)

VERSE HEADCANONS (THE ARCANA) - MARIA

under the cut in case of length! i’ve been wanting to do these for a while because my muse for maria has SKYROCKETED

like the devorak clan, maria was born in nevivon.

her mother, emilia, passed away shortly after her birth due to complications. her father, jeremiah, died of alcohol poisoning eighteen months later.

her grandfather, gerald, raised maria from then on.

unlike her original counterpart, maria does not have NIDS.

i actually have no fuckin clue what maria’s patron arcana would be other than the fool so if anyone has ideas lmk

her birthday is april 4th, and is seventeen at the start of the arcana.

she can’t be romanced but she can be adopted as a family member.

during the events of the red plague, gerald passed away from the illness; maria staying by his bedside so he’d have someone by his side so he wouldn’t be scared.

maria was fourteen when he died.

surprisingly enough, she never ate a plague beetle, nor did she contract the illness from other people. this is what happens when you wash your hands, kids.

gerald’s final wish to maria was for her to spread the kindness she always held, and she hopes to grant this wish by earning a medical license to help the sick.

once she obtains a valid license, maria plans to open a clinic that is free of charge to those who cannot afford it, as she believes that it doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor, everyone deserves to be treated for their ailments.

until then, maria’s looking for an apprenticeship to gain more hands-on experience before she takes classes to get her license.

maria’s also well-versed in politics, her backup plan being to take classes regarding law and political science.

despite her cheery outlook on life, maria has slight abandonment issues. her grandfather didn’t spend a lot of time with her when she was younger, and she didn’t really have any friends as a child. she tries to look past it, but on some days, she just needs to let it out and cry.

and now that she has no surviving family members, it makes her loneliness even worse as she’s practically orphaned after her grandfather’s passing.

tldr; someone adopt this child.

Hold up, I just realized that watching a show shouldn’t be a chore.

Like- You’re supposed to be entertained? Every time I start a show, I see it as a task. I avoided rewatching Lego ninjago because I didn’t want something I loved years ago to become another chore.

But I’m rewatching it and- it’s fun??? I’m invested?? I’m catching myself laughing and if I try to multitask I’ll pause and focus on whats happening?

Short series summary: Rudy never thought that the one app he uses the least would turn out to the app where he meets the most down to earth and a fantastic person. What first started out as conversations over text turn into a full-blown out road trip where they get to know each other. What was supposed to be a simple trip between two strangers turned into a simple trip with two friends…then it got complicated.

A/N: Okay, okay, this is my first attempt at a Rudy fic. My first series too! But if this flops, let's pretend it never happened, okay? :) But If you guys want to read more, please do let me know. Your love and support is the encouragement I need. Plus, others on the site write a 1000 times better so I don't expect to be praised for this. Like seriously, I got the concept from tik tok haha. Fair warning, I am handwriting out chapters with a pen and paper before converting it digitally, so updates with be spread out. THERE WILL BE GRAMMAR MISTAKES! I'm human, and Tumblr is my test run for this series. Anywho, hope you enjoy :) (these notes will be shorter in the future)

Zero | “It’s A Dating App At This Point”

“Excuse my french, but you’re being a douchebaguette.”

A controlled laugh - snicker echoed through the dimly lit room. The snicker was short until all you heard was the deep intake of breath before it was no longer a snicker but a hidden smile behind a blanket. The only source of light was coming from the tv mounted to the wall and a phone. Nevaeh was aimlessly scrolling through videos. Those videos' sound was muted because her focus was supposed to be on the television watching the show her roommate put on for them. The two of them ordered in - Nevaeh ordering the food after getting into her pajamas, and Birdie was deciding on the show. They agreed on Brooklyn Nine-nine; it was a Hulu type of night instead of the usual Disney+.

Ping!

Nevaeh's phone chimed once, not surprising her, but then it sounded three more times in a row after that. The inbox tab lit up with numbers. Clicking on her activity feed, spam of likes rolled in like a soccer ball on the field. The noise pulled her roommate's attention next to her; Birdie squinted her eyes and sent her friend a glare.

"You're not even paying attention. I knew it after you didn't laugh at Peralta's tomfoolery; you always laugh at that," she says, but Nevaeh didn't pay her any mind. "Vae, hello. Are you even listening?" Birdie gave Nevaeh's shoulder a push - nothing too hard, just enough to grab her attention.

“Huh? Shoot, sorry, I’m paying attention now,” Nevaeh flicked the button on the side of her phone, silencing it, then clicked the power button and turned toward the tv. Birdie, who tended to be techy, didn’t make a move to unpause to the screen. Her friend noticed and faced her friend-raising an eyebrow at Birdie’s reluctance. “Are you going to unpause it?”

Huffing, the blonde turned her body and unpaused the tv like nothing happened. Nevaeh shook her head and let her attention become encased with the comedy series. Her phone screen lit up, and looking down at her lap, sure enough, it was Tik tok again.

She read the notifications to herself, tempted to check the app but didn't budge.

"Who's that?" Nevaeh jerked with the sudden sound of Birdie's voice next to her. When she looked over to her side, the blonde shrugged her shoulders and leaned over more. "What? Your phone kept lighting up, so I wanted to know what had your attention. Thought it was some boy that was blowing your phone up."

"Well, it's creepy when you're quiet about your snooping - then the hovering over the shoulder thing." The brown-haired girl shakes her head and grimaces.

Birdie cackles, "Get over it, that's the point of snooping, to be quiet about it," She got up from her spot on the couch, taking her blanket she had across her lap and wrapped it around her shoulders. "I'm your personal stalker, you know this."

"I do; how could I forget about my own peeping tom?" Birdie carried herself into the kitchen. She laughed again; her laugh grew quieter the further she walked into the kitchen. Nevaeh took the opportunity to check her phone to check out who spammed her with likes and comments. Birdie was making a lot of noise as she moved about in the kitchen. Her friend wasn't too far off with Nevaeh's phone. There were a few likes and comments from different individuals when looking through her feed, but the spam was from one person. She didn't know who he was. His profile picture was warped - that didn't help. His profile consisted of only one video, it wouldn't load on her phone, and there wasn't anything in the bio. So, this stranger was a stranger, but she had the odd urge to follow him; out of curiosity.

“Who was the mystery spammer?” her roommate called out and asked from the doorway of the kitchen before walking back to get comfortable on the couch.

“Some random guy,”

“Well, why’d you follow him?” Birdie spoke over her shoulder, spooking the girl again.

“I don’t know,” she breathed, which was sort of right. She was curious but didn’t know. She did it to be nice but didn’t know. She wan-

“Oh my god, did that weirdo message you?” At this point, Birdie climbed over the couch and scooted close to Nevaeh. It almost made her laugh, but she just smiled.

“We don’t know if he is a weirdo yet…”

“Well, he followed you, then sent a message right after you followed back - “

“That isn’t weird,”

“He followed your Instagram and is probably spamming you there.”

“Maybe he wants a friend.” Nevaeh offered, trying to stick up for the stranger. Maybe it was a little weird, but Nevaeh would do something like that. She’s the type that would tell a girl how beautiful she was, even if she didn’t know her. Or ask complete strangers if they might want to be a part of a project she’s working on. Quite honestly, the woman hates strangers; it can get real awkward fast, but she’s working on being more affable. Easy to talk to if need be.

“Maybe he wants your attention,”

“Nevaeh gasped as her mind came to a conclusion, one Birdie wanted to know; her eyes snapped up to Nevaeh as she also looked at her. “Maybe he’s flirting.” Birdie rolled her eyes.

"It's a dating app at this point - well, open the damn message so we can find out." So she did. She went to her inbox, what the stranger's said appeared at the top. She could only make out a little of what the message said, but it was too long to not read without clicking the conversation window.

rudeth: Hey! One of your videos popped up on my fyp and I think...

So, I think you guys will love the Nevaeh and Birdie friendship duo. But look at that theres a little of Rudy this chapter and Birdie calling him a weirdo :P Wonder if she’ll call him that to his face.
