Permaculture Instructor Andrew Millison visits the largest reforestation project in the world in the Southern Indian States of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka with the Isha Foundation, founded by Sadhguru. Andrew spent 5 days traveling around the Cauvery River watershed looking at the work of the Isha Foundations' Cauvery Calling project, touring farms, nurseries, temples, and talking with Isha's field agents. Andrew then went to Isha's ashram in Tennessee and was able to directly question Sadhguru about the project.

What can we learn form beavers? 🦫
Andrew Millison is one of the most renowned permaculture instructors out there, his videos are followed and loved by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. He'd already asked for permission to use our maps in his video How (and why) to find your watershed?, and a few weeks ago contacted us again looking for a North American river map.
His videos are always highly informative and easy to digest, we cannot recommend them enough for those who'd like to learn about soil regeneration, sustainable farming, water management and the like. His newest video about beavers and their role in the ecosystem should be a must-watch for all politicians and lawmakers worldwide: turns out these furry animals could teach us how to heal our lands and mitigate the effects of climate change all over the world.

Collecting Water for Ourselves and our Climate.
The water bill got paid, our vegetables were eventually harvested, but I didn't understand the degradation that was happening to the land and the creek during that whole time, how the gullies formed by the rain on exposed ground were carrying precious...
Rain is free water. All while my children were growing up here on this mountainside, when it rained, the water flowed into our little valley, ran into the pond and then the creek. Sometimes, during the rainy season, there was more water than the drain pipe could handle and the water would flow over the driveway from the pond to creek. But then, in the summertime, there would be weeks on end with…

do you have any YouTube recs for the halting and reversing desertification videos you mentioned? :) I'd love to watch!
Andrew Millison makes excellent videos on water permaculture in general, he has several about the green wall of Africa which is going to protect Africa from the encroachment of the Sahara: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LCTVO_Y5Rs And here's one he did about people restoring water tables in India: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4Bnx9cmT0g

Permaculture Instructor Andrew Millison travels to the village of Laporiyah in Rajasthan India to see the 45 year water harvesting and community development project spearheaded by waterman Laxman Singh. We spent 2 days touring the village with Laxman and his team, including well known academic Vishnu Sharma. Vishnu has specialized in the revitalization of Rajasthan during his long career and we were very lucky to have him as Laxman's interpreter. This village has experienced such an incredible transformation due to the work of the villagers, it is hard to express in one video.

Videos like this are incredibly encouraging. If such dramatic progress can be made with such low tech approaches we can absolutely improve our footprint on the ecology as humans in total.
Mahesh Kadam
Thank you very much Andrew Sir for visiting my village. Indeed, with the help of Paani Foundation Team and the solidarity of the villagers, the village has undergone a major transformation in the last 2-3 years....

How Trees Bring Water
Permaculture Instructor Andrew millison explains how trees are connected to water in the atmosphere as well as water flowing through the landscape. This video articulates the amazing role that trees play to ecosystem and climate health, and how their removal causes the drought-flood cycle. There may be some questions about the scientific validity of the concept that forests attract rain. Here are…
