UTMV Mouth Headcanons

Classic’s mouth stays shut and smiling. It never changes other than minor movement during expressions. He’s never see frowning.

Fell is the same, but he has sharper, triangular teeth (aka “chompers”)

Dust, Killer, and Horror share this shut-mouth trait, Dust’s smile being the only thing visible with his hood on, and Killer having the exact same as Classic. Despite this, Horror can partially or fully open his mouth when he’s feeling crazed or hungry, maybe even unhinge it.

Additionally, Error has the same mouth as Classic’s, only he’s able to force his grin into more wider or narrower shapes than he was originally able to do, allowing for him to make frowns or sinister/uncanny smiles. It does hurt to do this, and sometimes Error gives himself face cramps from making such intense faces, but he does them anyways because he thinks it looks cool.

Swap, Dream, and Cross all share an open-closing mouth like Papyrus. They’re freely able/choosing to open and close their mouth when talking. Connected to Dream, Nightmare’s mouth used to work like this until corruption. Afterwards, he’s basically able to shape his smile into anything he pleases, but he chooses to follow the shut-mouth Classic rule unless he’s in “Scary Mode” (Mouth does that blobby , segmented thing from Underverse)

Ink, being mostly an enigma and barely qualifying as a Sans, follows the open-closed Swap rule, only he actually has little fangs unlike everyone else. His mouth is the most unique out of everyone else’s fault smile, and while he is able to make his mouth appear like the rest, he has a more Murder Drones shaped mouth and teeth, which are especially apparent in his “Scary Mode” (Again, from Underverse).

My favorite situational trope is by far the "Are we ready? We have to be" trope.

THERE IS SO MUCH TO UNPACK WITH IT

A. It is always a tragedy or battle or something heated that pushed them to this moment.

B. You can have platonic moment, romantic moment, community moment, exes forced to work together moment, parent-kid moment, ect. There's infinite possibilities for who is talking and their relationships.

C. It's never "if we aren't/don't" in this trope failure is never an option. There's no dichotomy. It's simply "well we have to be" not "i don't know" or "probably not" or "if not we're screwed". Failure is never acknowledged, which just makes it more powerful.

C1. Failure is not an option is way overpowered. There's so much in that phrase and it is so versatile.

D. This trope can be at ANY part of the story. It can be the opening line, it can be in the rising action or the falling action, it can be your resolution. Hell, it can be the climax. There is so much power held in a situation like this that is can be placed anywhere in a plot and it will work.

F. It's an end of story moment. This sounds like it contradicts the previous point but hear me out. This helps move the plot along. You can't just slip this trope into something. It has magnitude. It is important. Whatever happens after is in response to this quote. Often it is very easy to time skip or introduce another subject after this point because there's nothing to be said after it.

G. Artificial tension is so easy here! Creating tension is a struggle in certain stories and circumstances, but here it's practically a given. Someone is looking up to someone else that happens to be more of a leader. There's a pause. The readers/audience and the characters are waiting for a response. There is so much tension alone, without extra information/exposition.

H. THE RAW EMOTION. Similar to the last point, but more about the person asking the question. They are expressing one of their deepest fears. It's expressed they are uncertain despite the preparation. Yet the other person assures them (in a way). The act of asking someone if, as a group, you are prepared beyond just doubting a plan is so emotionally open. In this trope the plan is already in action, it's not hypothetical anymore. And that's why it is so heavy. The looking back doubt, the hindsight, regret, uncertainty. It's all reflected in that question and it's build up.

I. It's risky but those who take the risk can succeed. Yes, sometimes not everyone can pull of a trope. But there's a certain ratio of risk to reward. And in this case, the risk factor is enough to deter those who can't pull it off, resulting in those who can do it having a much more rewarding story. If a trope doesn't work, you don't keep it. So it really only gets used when it should (even though it works in many forms).

In short, we need this trope more in media. It's too perfect to be ignored in favor of 'enemies to lovers' or 'best friends to never talk now'.

I feel like this isn't said enough but;

The block button is not restricted to just toxic cyber bullies that harass you.

If someone is making your experience on Tumblr a bad one, if they are making you uncomfortable to the point where them interacting with you makes you dislike being online, you can block them.

If they make content that triggers you and it constantly shows up in your feed, you can filter out the tags.

The block button/filtering area is a personalization tool, it's there to allow you to directly influence what you see. If something/someone is ruining your experience on Tumblr, you can block them or filter the tags out. Blocking is there to allow you to have a better environment on the site.

There's a lot of discussion about how you can block anons and haters and that's valid. But it's not recognized that you can also block people who you don't want interacting with you. You can filter out a tag that is associated with something that dampers your day when you see it. You do not owe Tumblr a hate crime report everytime you block someone. It doesn't have to be only extreme cases. If removing that aspect from your Tumblr experience would improve your Tumblr experience, do it. There is no shame in blocking or filtering tags.

(holy shit this is a heavy one) inside the little yellow bag is a Japamala/Buddhist prayer bead bracelet from 五台山 Mount Wutai, a sacred Buddhist site with some of the most important temples and monasteries in the country, considered the home of the Bodhisattva of wisdom. Giving someone a Japamala means wishing them good fortune (and I might be wrong but I think it also means wishing the respective Bodhisattva's blessing on them?) Usually, if it was bought as a gift there's a whole ceremony you have to go through as a sign of your sincerity (most Chinese people casually believe in some parts of Buddhism, my parents and relatives included, me not included)
